I would like to go to times square on New Years Eve and spend the night, but I dont want to spend an arm and a leg. Could somebody please tell me the cheapest hotel that has availability for Dec 31 that is actually in New York. Every one I find is in New Jersey. HELP! D:
Since you are trying to buy so late, not only are the expensive ones left, only the ones far away are left because everyone has already booked months ago. I suggest you check out http://www.hotels.com
to see what is available.
You ARE talking about New Year's Eve NEXT YEAR, right? You're way too late to make any reservations for THIS NYE. And hotels anywhere near Times Square or Midtown are not going to be "cheap" - prices go way up for NYE. You'd have to go to a hotel's website or a hotel booking site to find out what's available. Maybe you'd be able to find something Downtown - a mostly-business-hotel near Wall Street - that would have vacancies, but it isn't going to be cheap. And that's not convenient for TS, either.

If you haven't booked by now.......New Jersey is as close as you will probably get at any price.
Rooms for New Years Eve are booked and reserved MONTHS, if not YEARS in advance.
But, people die, and cancellations happen, so maybe you will hit the lottery and find an opening at the last second.
So, not only do you expect to find a hotel in Times Square this close to New Years, you think you're actually going to find something affordable? :) If, by some miracle, you do find anything remotely close to Times Square at this point, especially for just the one night, expect to pay at least $500.
Three are a bunch of hotel-booking websites like hotels.com, travelocity.com, expedia.com, priceline.com, and so on.
