The Clarendon is a pretty cool place and close by.

Price is at most $149 a night. You can get by on $79 a night if you find a deal.

If you need even cheaper, try the Hilton:

Hotels.com - results listed by distance from that location.

With the address you gave, this is right off a major noisy freeway (the I-17) and Indian School, not the best neighborhood so not certain of the quality you will get at any of those hotels. The Motel 6 you mentioned tends to have a lot of "permanent residents" as well.

Personally, I would think of trying a little more North (past Glendale) or go with one of the Downtown Phoenix hotels like the Wyndham. For something closer, the Clarendon is recently revamped, one of the original Phoenix hotels famous for being the location where the reporter a few decades ago was blown up by a car bomb out front. The re-do is supposed to be pretty good and it is in a better area down the street just South of Indian School and a few streets East of the I-17.

there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely show you great hotels at the best prices available. check out the website BookMe and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it's very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.
