Hi! My friend & I will be going to Orlando, FL next month & were looking for hotels for us to stay at. We were suggested by others to go bar/club hopping on Orange AVE & Church St (something like that). So we were hoping to get a hotel around that area/downtown area. Any suggestions on the best/reasonable...
There are not a lot of hotels downtown. Within walking distance of all the bars there is a Sheraton, Embassy Suites, Grand Bohiemen and a travelodge.
The travelodge is doable but its skirts the seedy side. The best thing I could say about it would be its location. I did go in the rooms once and they were clean. Its in a safe area. I actually live a block from this place. Its just an older building.
Orlando is an hour drive from the closest beach. If you want to go to beach then I would drive the hour north and go to Daytona and get another room up there. You can go online to Hotels.com and find a decent hotel for not a lot of money right on the beach.

When I was going to Disney World .. in 2002
I sent for some travel info. They mailed me Florida stuff
for the next 3 yrs til I moved. All kinds of great hotels discount coupons
I actually stayed at Days Inn ..nice place. .just outside the main gate for $28
per night. Kissimmee Fl. It was radical how much money I saved, as youre
never in the motel where youre there anyway. Youre busy all the time.
So, sign up for a news letter or something ..and see if you can get some kind of deal
and just drive to where you want to go. But they have discounts for a variety of locations
You have to go like to Daytona Beach to go to the beach. Orlando is inland.
Reasonable is going to be different for each traveler. Suggest you use the tripadvisor.com site and specify Orlando central business district, sort by price low to high.
I used to love Cocoa Beach - great atmosphere at the pier, Ron Jon's
