We cruised out of Long Beach/San Pedro on Norwegian cruise line a couple years ago and stayed at a place right across the street from the pier, the Vagabon Inn. Here's a web link:

The place was like a Best Western, not upscale at all, maybe a 2-star place, but it was convenient. They provide parking (as you'll see on their web page) and have a free hotel shuttle to take you to the pier. We didn't go back there after our cruise but I guess if you call they'll pick you up after also. Their ad says one night plus parking for a week at $119. which is pretty good. When we stayed there they had a security person watching the parking lot so your car would be safe.

Also, this location and pier is for Norwegian and Royal Caribbean cruises. If you are going on Carnival it may work but the Carnival pier is in a little different location. You may also want to look at this Hotels.com web link for other options: http://www.hotels.com/processIndexSearch... or : http://hotelguides.com/california/los-an...

The majority of cruise passengers stay at the Crowne Plaza. I have also stayed at the Vagabond Inn which is a little lower price. They both offer free shuttle service to the pier.
