This was not what I expected for an Ayres Hotel.  I had stayed at Ayres in Newport Beach and it was VERY NICE!  This one in Alpine is nestled in the rear of a shopping center surrounded by lots of tall pine trees which give it a cozy, woodsy feeling.  It looks to have been a motor lodge originally and bought out by Ayres.  It was more casual than the Newport Ayres, but the rooms were decorated with nice furniture and had crown molding.  Each room has a tv, small fridge, microwave, coffee maker, ironing board, iron, and hair dryer.  The thing my husband liked the most was that there was FREE INTERNET ACCESS!!  When we checked in, the very nice young woman at the front desk said that we could also use the computer in the lobby and print whatever we needed!!  The lobby was decorated to look like a nice mountain lodge and had a small dining room/kitchen off the lobby where they serve FREE breakfast in the mornings which includes fresh waffles, biscuits and gravy, a variety of cereals, muffins, bagels, english muffins, hard boiled eggs, juice, milk, and coffee.  Pretty good for a free breakfast!!!  The first night we were there, we went to the front desk to ask for directions and I smelled fresh-baked cookies...I peeked into the dining room/kitchen and there were 3 trays of cookies that had just been taken out of the oven and the man at the front desk said they were free and gave us each a few to go!!  The small swimming pool was heated and the jacuzzi was wonderful to soak in after a long day walking around the zoo!!  It is also located one exit down the freeway from the Viejas Indian Casino and Factory Outlet Stores!!  There are several restaurants in the shopping center, and a Rite Aid across the street (which came in handy when I discovered that i forgot my toothbrush and toothpaste!)  Although it seems a bit pricey, I would totally stay there again in the future!

This used to be the Countryside located about 25 miles east of the Mission Valley Westfield mall.  There're no other hotels or motels within visibility.

At night, Tavern street is very quiet and you can only hear the noise of sporadic traffic rolling along Hwy 8 which runs past this inn to El Centro about 70 miles east.  The Viejas casino and shopping outlets are just about 3 miles up the highway.

It is truly a boutique inn with less than 90 rooms on two storeys, a small pool with a small jacuzzi.  Obligatory amenities, nevertheless completes the essentials.  The ambience is like a country lodge surrounded by pines.  Don't expect crowds there, unless they have business in the area.  I hear, there may be no vacancy during the summer and Christmas season.  Regular rates are over a hundred and twenty for single occupany.  IMHO, it's a dressed-up Motel 6.

The covered foyer over the front office's entrance allows you to glide in in style and check-in. To the left of the front desk is a guest sitting lounge area complete with country lodge style fireplace for a homey feel.  Don't let the beautiful sunny days fool you 'coz the temperature can get down to the 50's in the evenings.

To the right of the front desk is a tiny little dining area with about 4 tables and kitchenette style counter where complimentary continental breakfast (self-serve) is served between 6am & 9am.  Get there early, or you'll miss out on the bagels which is the most popular item.  Apart from the juices and coffees out in the open, I'll never understand their reason for hiding the hot water dispenser for tea behind a door.  You'd need to get someone to help you with that.  On the inside of one wall of the dining room, you can see signed and framed pictures of celebrities who have stayed there.

At night, there's practically nothing to do around this inn.  There's a Rite-Aid which closes at midnight close by.  There's a Chinese sushi restaurant called Panda Machi, liquor store, pizza shop, Mexican taqueria, BBQ joint in the mall right next to the inn. Of course, there's the Carl's Jr with a 24 hour drive through to cater to hungry truck drivers and travelers.  There's also a larger chain grocery store in the Town Center right up the street past Alpine Blvd.  On the opposite side of Hwy 8 are two gas stations with their own Foodmarts.  Last, but definitely not least, my bank is situated almost facing the inn which made me feel comfortable 'coz I have accessto the ATM anytime.

The rooms are basic except for the wood moldings along the walls.  They aren't humogous.  I'd estimate the room size to be less than or about 200 sq ft.  There's no walk-in closet (at least not in my room).  There's internet connections available, but they charge about $10 per day.  TV comes with free cable like ESPN & HBO.  Every room has a hair dryer, iron/ironing board and a tiny fridge which comes empty.  Housekeeping does a good job in maintaining a clean room well-stocked with towels, lotion, shampoo & conditioner everyday.  Before I forget, there's a laundry area behind the office and two ice machines on each end of the inn.

The best thing to do (at least for me) is chill in the room, drink some Lone Stars, watch some TV and enjoy the peaceful environment for a change.  I wanted to give 3.5 stars, but rounded down to 3 for boredom.  Also, at that rate, I think they should be able to offer more amenities e.g. arcade games, free internet access or larger rooms.

Nice place, very clean rooms, super friendly staff. Guy doing the gardening with his headphones on is a match for Bill Murray in Caddy Shack! If we ever find ourselves in the middle of fricken no where again we will definitely stay here.

I am writing this review because it's not often I am suprised in  a good way by a hotel. I had to stay here 1 night for a work appointment at one of the close-by casinos. I have to say, when I pulled up I was expecting the worst because it's off the highway in a strip mall. From the outside it looks a bit like a Motel 6. Don't be fooled. The front desk gal was very friendly even though my company screwed up my reservation and I was a little frustrated. She promised to give me a quiet room, and wow, it was great. Not only did I walk in to a completly quiet room, I was totally suprised by the wonderfully spotless clean room, quality furniture, including a nice work desk and huge comfortable bed - it had a nice shower and free wireless that was easy to sign on to. I can't say enough about how impressed I was after a 4 hour drive from LA. To top it off, there is Starbucks in your room and a decent free breakfast. The little courtyard was nice too. It's not a "resort" but I think it serves it's purpose extremely well. I would recommend this for the weary traveler, and people visiting family in the area and just want a nice place to sleep.
The only thing I would improve is that the blanket was a little thin, so I was a bit chilly through the night. Other than that, I am quite impressed with this hotel.

I went here back in May for a large event, and I must say I was impressed with the whole lay out and scenery, it was beautiful and the rooms were clean and beds comfortable, The staff was cool too....We got there at about 6 am and though it took a lil while they let us check in...The pool and hot tub were clean also, beautiful weather in May... There is a little center across the parking lot that has THE BEST sushi I have ever ate at a totally reasonable price.....

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights while in town for a wedding. Considering that there is not much in Alpine, except Veijas nearby, this was a decent hotel. Rooms were clean and the pool area was very nice. I did not try the free breakfast but love that they had it. I was annoyed that the Internet never worked and that they charged for it.

So this place turned crazy when the wedding ended and the after parties began - we room hopped until we were yelled at about 5 times to be quiet, I felt bad for the manager but come on, we gave you more business than you've had in years!!!

MY FAVORITE part of this hotel is that each room comes with bottle opener attached the sink - FANTASTIC for drunks.

Photo to be posted soon.

Had to stay here once for a couple nights while the house was being tented and bombed.

I have to say first off, this place is very over priced. The pricing should be in the $50-$75 a night range. There was nothing spectacular about this place in any way shape or form. The rude little tart working the front desk needs to be fired, the hassle of ripping her eyes away from her cell just seemed a little much for her to handle.

Couldn't even take a shower in the morning because they decided to shut the water off for whatever reason.

My wife, son, and I just spent two nights at Ayres, Alpine, during a visit to the SD Zoo.

Overall we were very pleased with the room and staff.  James was fantastic.  Energetic and friendly.  The kind of guy who would go the extra mile to make you comfortable.

The lobby is lodge style with great handmade big chunky furnishings.  The kind you want to sit in or eat at all day long.  Lots of beautiful wood and a great fireplace with two large trunks at either end and a beautiful slab of wood for a mantle.

We were expecting to have a fridge and microwave in the room but found that if we wanted those options they were available in the deluxe rooms at an extra charge.  We opted not to have them but I feel they should make this policy clear in their advertising.

The breakfast was so, so.  It is served in a tiny room next to the office that seats 16 people.  If all the tables are occupied and you are sitting in the wrong area, you cannot get out without people having to move out of the way.  The food selection was typical and unimaginative.  We were told they are going to expand the size of the serving room and have the same type of full breakfast that Ayres Hotel's are noted for.

The location worked out great for us.  We got to the Zoo in about 25 minutes and the Viejas Casino, only three miles up the road, came in handy for the free dinner buffet they offer for new club sign ups.

With a bit of searching on the internet we obtained our room for $90.  It was well worth it.

Just a note.  I do not recommend Ramon's BBQ, located in the next door center.  It was disgusting.  I have written a review...check it out.

If you can find somewhere else to stay near Alpine, I'd suggest it. There's camping at Cuyamaca State Park that looked good (they had cabins too). This hotel just didn't cut it. Room was pricey and not worth the cash. Breakfast included, but not favorable toward the innards. Nighttime front desk staff ornery....move on little cowboy.

I have no complaints about this place at all. Its prices were decent and its right next to a awesome doughnut shop which I frequented during my stay. After the 9 hour drive from SF I couldn't wait to check in. I was tired of sitting in a car. We got into our hotel and was amazed at how nice it was. Everything looked new and nothing looked old. It was clean and the people at the front desk were very helpful. If I'm ever in the area again I'll definitely be booking more nights here.

Stayed here as part of a weekend get-away that included San Diego and a trip to Anza Borrego, this was in the middle.

In hind-sight it would have probably been better to have stayed in San Diego (and paid more $) or to drive all the way to Anza Borrego (even though it might have meant missing some great scenery because the sun was going down).

The hotel looks nice, and the rooms are clean, but it's just simply over-priced for what it is, a decent budget motel.  (I paid nearly $130 for a saturday stay)

I tried to book the room online, but the website wasn't working, when I called, the person at the front desk seemed not to care. When I asked about a discount rate, he rudely replied "This IS the cheapest rate", even though the website clearly offered a discounted rate.

Once in the room, I immediately noticed that the exhaust fan in the bathroom was incredibly loud, like a 747 jet flying overhead at low altitude loud. No matter I though, how much time will I spend in the bathroom?  (there is no way to turn on just the light, and not the fan, they're tied to the same, single switch).

Returning to the room after dinner, the room next door turned on their bathroom fan/light, and the 747 sound reverberated through the walls. It continued for the next 3 hours!

It's not difficult to install a quiet exhaust fan, but apparently the hotel buys the cheapest, loudest units available.

The wifi never worked : (

The maids appeared at 8:00 am and began yelling to each other through the rooms. I looked for a "do not disturb" sign and never found one.

They do offer a decent continental breakfast - so they have that going for them.

Looks like there hasn't been any recent reviews, but I just stayed here for 3 nights and thought I'd post a note about my experience.

The room: I stayed in a deluxe king, which included the microwave and mini fridge. It was a standard size room you'd find in any hotel, and my favorite part was the bed!! Dream sleeper heaven...I love Ayres hotel beds!! They are beyond comfortable, and just lying on one is vacation enough for me! :-) The bathroom area was a little small, but it was fine. Overall, the room was extremely clean, and well-kept.

Breakfast: Unlike other Ayres, this one does not offer a "full" hot breakfast that includes pancakes, French toast, waffles, eggs, etc. Instead, they offered bagels, pastries, cereal, and "frozen-style" breakfast burritos and breakfast sandwiches, along with coffee and orange juice. I would imagine it has something to do with the small dining area, but it would have been nice if they, at least, offered fresh fruit. The breakfast selection was the only reason I subtracted one star, since they use their "complimentary hot breakfast" as a selling point, and this hotel lacks the amazing layout of the other Ayres.

Hotel: Yes, it looks like a motel from the outside, but never once did I feel unsafe in my room. It's a nice, quiet and safe area.

Location: It's located right behind a little center that includes a few restaurants, and other businesses. I tried both Mañanas, and Panda Machi, and both were very yummy! Read my reviews for both!

Overall, I would definitely stay here again, the next time I am in the area. Nice hotel at a reasonable price.

I've stayed here 3 weeks straight now for work with a new room each week. Front desk staff is friendly and helpful. My rooms have been clean and tidy and the cleaning service works around my equipment and belongings to keep the room neat. The beds are super comfy and I love the pillows. Only complaint is location, near the freeway and baseball fields, so if you try to hit the sack early, it can be a little noisy at times with engine brakes and parents cheering on their kid's team. It's on the spendy side, but my company picks up the bill, otherwise I would look for a better deal. O, and they do free, fresh baked cookies if you're into that.

This place was not what I expected. The photos online made me think it was like a lodge and in the woods but its right between a shopping center and the highway. The construction going on started at 7am on a Saturday! The continental breakfast was as expected (unhealthy and boring). The room we stayed in was clean but a mini fridge would have been nice.

Was here for one night for business. Critical point - the WIFI worked great. There is a little shopping plaza at the entrance with several restaurant options, very convenient.

The room was nice enough, but missing a luggage rack and the refrigerator that the website promised.  There was a loud generator constantly running outside the room - didn't really bother me but it might be an issue for some people.  The breakfast was not worth eating (and the area was very cramped and crowded) we went next door to grab a burrito instead.

We had reservations for 3 nights, but when our training was canceled at 1:30pm the 2nd day, we had to leave.  They did credit us for the third night, but not the second, which I thought was ungenerous.  I will not go out of my way to stay here again.

James at the front desk is an absolute delight. He is friendly, professional, and knows the area well. We drove up on a whim and stayed because of his service. The rooms have been remodeled and the hotel offers free coffee and cookies, as well as a continental breakfast. Nice clean comfy rooms, reasonably priced. My wife and I enjoyed the atthmosphere as well as the cool, fresh mountain air when we awoke in the morning. We will stay here again.

Stayed here 1 night with my wife and 5mo old baby.  Came into hotel after 9pm, staff was super nice and offered a warm greeting.  Accommodations were wonderful - very clean, looked like a new shower, comfortable.  Breakfast was included in the morning, a great spread.

I would definitely stay here again as a passing through town kind of place.

Nice hotel. We have stayed here a few times. They boast special ordered beds with double pillow tops. I didnt check myself, but the beds were definitely comfy. Everything in the room was clean. In fact the bathroom smelled like paint so they may have just remodeled our room. The shampoo provided is OK, and they also provide a nice little lotion and soap. One thing I didnt like is that they only provide enough coffee (and cups) for one cup of coffee. They do have a breakfast with coffee in the lobby, but I think they should provide at least two cups of coffee in the rooms. Breakfast offered cereal, oatmeal, juice, milk, sweet rolls, etc. There very well may have been more but I was only there a minute. There is a BBQ available for guest use, and a pool and hot tub (we didnt use any of these).

we stayed two night while visiting a relative in the area and found the Ayres Lodge to be just what we were looking for.  They were dog friendly and yelp had a 15% off the stay coupon.  The room was nice size with a king bed, standard comforts for this type of place.  It was right off the freeway and located near a small strip mall with some stores that had most things you needed.  We were happy with the room and stay.

Pretty good, all things considered. Could be 4 stars if there was a microwave and/or mini-fridge in the room. Easy to get to, literally right off the highway.

The rooms are small-ish, but have a cozy and marginally rustic feel. VERY quiet despite being backed up to the highway. I stayed here for a solid week while waiting to move into an apartment and barely ever heard my neighbors despite the fact that the parking lot was full. In fact, the only noise complaint I had was that my room was two doors down from housekeeping's laundry room and I could hear the drone of the heavy duty laundry dryers.

The only other thing that kinda bummed me out was that they chintzed out by asking for $3.00 for a bottle of water that they provide "as a service for our guests." Seriously? It would be one thing if it were cold, but it's just sitting there at room temperature. Just kinda tacky.

Anyway, parking and internet are free and the pool is well maintained. They also have a free continental breakfast of coffee, muffins, bagels, mini pastries, cereal & hard boiled eggs. But sadly, no fruit. :-(  There's also plenty of food in the attached plaza named for the hotel. I'd stay here again, for sure.

Not too bad.
I don't know when it was renovated but I liked the style. The King room was very big.
The bed was very comfortable and didn't suffer from over-use. The pillows were plush and forgiving... I tend to prefer my Tempurpedic and I almost always travel with it but forgot it on this trip...these were a suitable alternative.
Shower (Waterpik head) provided a strong flow... water was hot for a good long time :)
Made it hard to want to go to work.
Towels were quite worn but weren't offensive.
Sink, toilet and shower were all very clean. No stains on the carpets.
Heat worked great(got a bit chilly, 28F)
Wifi signal was strong enough to stay connected for several hours as well as strong enough to Skype.

Oh yeah, I checked in right after their nightly warm chocolate chip cookies were put out (on nuts!). Score!

Positives out of the way.

Negatives, if you're terribly picky.... the staff was not friendly. Not rude or impolite, just not friendly. I arrived later in the evening and checked out very early in the morning so  it could have been the timing of my interactions when they were transitioning between  sleep and waking that affected my overall perception of staff un-friendliness.

Breakfast was not what I'd call "continental". There was a juice maker with apple and orange juice. The apple juice was really some of the best I've ever had but that's where the good ends. The breakfast options included the juice, some raisin bread and packets of instant oatmeal. Since I checked out at 7:25am perhaps they brought out more later but with a breakfast that spans 6am-9am one would think there wouldn't be any holding back.

If I go back to the SoCal area and I'm looking for an out-of-the-way hotel, I'd consider checking out Ayres again with hopes that the staff brings their smiles to work with them :)

Not the best, but definitely not the worst. I would have probably given them more stars if the room wasn't as expensive. I booked through hotels.com and even though I had a 10% off coupon, the price for their standard 2 queen bedroom was still $93 with tax. I saw another reviewer paid $70...now that is what this hotel is worth. I honestly would only come back if I saw the price was around $70.

Do not be fooled by the cute little pictures of the cabin-like lobby. The hotel part looks no better than a motel 6 from the outside. I did not like that all the rooms were accessible from the outside. They did not even have a gate to walk through to get to the entrance. Joe Schmo could get into any of the rooms. Definitely a little scary.  On the other hand, the inside of the rooms were small but definitely nice. The beds were SOOOO comfy! The beds are pretty much the sole reason I am not giving a one or two star. They had flat panel televisions in the room and the whole room was very clean. The only downside to the room was that they did not have a mini fridge. I just figured that was a staple in most hotel rooms that weren't motels...guess not.

The one other disappointment was their continental breakfast. Definitely the worst one I have ever seen. There was no fresh fruit, no toast (seriously, they had bagels and warm up french bread, but no regular toast), and a very limited milk supply. They offered cereal, which I would have totally eaten, but they only had whole milk! Seriously? I don't even know anyone who drinks whole milk anymore. What happened to 2% or fat free? Almost anyone will drink 2% (even if you're like me who generally sticks to fat free), but to only offer whole milk is a little ridiculous. So I sadly passed on the cereal :(. Also, the area they housed the breakfast was super tiny. Everyone was bumping into one another and it was definitely hard to walk around.

Overall, probably would not come back unless the room prices were less. Would be worth $60-$70 a night, but definitely not the almost $100 that I paid.

Hidden gem!! I took my boyfriend to Vieja'a Casino for his birthday. At my dad's advice and because of the rates we decided to stay at the Ayres Lodge. So glad we did! Superrr comfy beds and VERY clean rooms for a great price! We found the staff to be very nice! The hotel has an out doors-y almost romantic vibe to it. The courtyard is a beautiful lawn surrounded by rocks with chairs, a BBQ and a small pond. Very cute. There's a spa and pool we didn't use but nice to have the option. Great part was being able to take the trolley to the casino! Plus the hotel has everything you could need around it. Highly recommend!

I had a wonderful stay at this Hotel. This was a very special Birthday Celebration at Viejas Casino for me. Thank you Tyler, mgr. for puling this off!
Surprise champagne and a nice message awaiting me. Thanks Tiffany at the front desk!! Rock star treatment!!
The rooms are very clean and spacious. The price is very fair. Very nice cottage area out back. BBQ available for your steaks.
Considering your options are limited ( no other hotel in Alpine) they go over the top with service.... I mean this is the only place you can stay in within 10-15 miles. The closest place to Viejas Casino.

24 hour shuttle service. Just let the security at the front entrance to the casino  know.  (20 minute wait, no worries) What? Is that amazing or what? No dui for me.

My only complaint would be a mini fridge in the room. But no worries. Ice bucket works on my champagne! YES....Life is good!

Perfect !!!! It is much nicer than we expected .. Forgot how expensive rooms could be when visiting SD in the summer. Didn't want a trashy hotel but didn't want to pay $100 for a hotel in El Cajon/LaMesa/Mission Valley either. Our option was to drive a little farther to Alpine .. So glad we did. The staff were so sweet and welcoming .. Always a smile and greeting when entering the cute rustic lodge lobby .
The room was so clean and fresh .. It felt brand new .. The best part when you have finished your day and head back to your room no need to drive to get dinner.. There are so many restaurants in the "strip mall" that's in front of hotel .. But those stores don't obscure the cute hidden away ayers lodge ..
I would only drive that far into east county when they have $70 room specials other wise not sure it would be worth the higher rates.

We were in Alpine for a family event and needed a place to stay. I'm a frequent Hampton patron, and honestly wasn't expecting much from a one-off hotel in a small town like this. Booked thru priceline, so got a good rate, and ended up being EXTREMELY impressed with the accommodations when we arrived. Had a deluxe room in back, which was immaculate. Could see the freeway right there, but the noise wasn't an issue at all. Was maybe slightly disappointed in breakfast area/selection, but I've had worse at hotels that cost more. Don't regret staying there at all.

Stayed at the hotel for 10 days while on a short-term internship for school. Super comfortable bed! Cookies every night. Breakfast every morning (nothing fancy - mostly muffins and bagels). Staff is really friendly and helpful. And most importantly, there was a super cute cat that hung out in the lobby :)

We stayed here one night before going to San Diego because we had a gift certificate.    I found it to be a cute and quaint ave.  Clean rooms and all the staff members were friendly.    We were in a Queen double bed deluxe room.   The only negative thing was two dogs day and night were barking next store.   Maybe next store was not a deluxe room? We didn't ask to move because we were their only one night.   When I checked out I asked if pets were allowed and was told yes but not in deluxe rooms.    That's why I was thinking maybe right next store was not deluxe.   We stayed at Anaheim ayres and now here.    I would stay again but I would make sure next time I am far away from a pet room :) seems As if the people were not there but the dogs were.    I never heard people talking.    Only heard dogs.

Very clean. Everyone friendly. Room 101 was quite even though it was facing the freeway and by the vending machines. They have a free shuttle to local casino and outlet mall. Return trip was in limo which was fun. Breakfast was basic but good.

This is such a sweet place! Looove it! The lobby is so homey. The rooms are clean and big and well apportioned. The only thing I wish were different is that  Hotwire could work with them

Stayed here this past weekend for the first time. It was so awesome. Very clean and quit. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The price was well worth it. They also service a continental breakfast and free wifi. They are also pet friendly. They even had a cat in the lobby and her name is Cali and super sweet. We will be returning to this hotel soon. It was awesome!!

Let's be clear, from the pictures it looks like you're staying in a cozy little lodge in the middle of the wilderness. WRONG. You're in a strip mall right next to the freeway within walking distance of a Carl's Jr. Once you get over that, it's actually a pretty nice hotel.

I chose this place because it was the #2 ranked hotel in Alpine, but I guess that's not saying a whole lot when it's 2/2. Anyway, I had a great stay at the Ayres Lodge. The room was absolutely immaculate. Felt very clean, and it was nice and spacious. I even kept the little bottle of body wash that they provided because it smelled pretty damn good.

I didn't have breakfast at the lodge but it didn't look all too great. There's a little breakfast spot within walking distance if you feel like going out. Also, there's a liquor store not too far away that has a pretty decent selection of Stone beers so you can go over there, buy a six pack and hang out in the little grass section in the back of the hotel.

All in all - it was clean and comfortable which is all I ask for in a hotel. 5 stars.

I would like to add an update to my previous review on 8/23. I was contacted by the General Manager about the complaints that I posted. The biggest complaint was losing $400.00 for checking out early. Well after many phone calls between myself and Hotelsone I have received the full refund. This is thanks to Mike approving the refund. I truly appreciate your decision with this problem Mike. Thank you very much.

The customer service over my recent visit was horrible! the guy Don at the front desk is rude and doesn't treat people nicely at all. Not only to us but I saw him being extremely rude to a couple of guys that were trying to check in before there work week! he needs to be let go..

This place is fortunate to be the only hotel in town.  It's a clean and convenient place to stay when in Alpine.  The staff is accommodating however the breakfast needs to be updated and stay open longer.  They shut it down before 9:30am  some days depending on the flow of guests.  Luckily there are many options in the same area.  Also price is slightly higher than Viejas so stay there if you want to save money.

I planned  to get together with family at tge Viejas Casino for my husband's birthday and booked a room here for us. I was working all day the day we were going to the casino and needed my husband to check in for us so I could meet him at the casino after work and have the room ready to go back to at the end of the night. I was bookee solid that day with clients and no break.  I called to give my credit card info for the room for any incedicentals. they couldn't take my info over the phone even though the room was booked under my name.  I expalained to the woman on the phone I was working and did not have time abd was in a hurry.  when my husband check in she made a rude comment to him about me.she was very innapropriate! Horrible customer service.  Diner type custoner service, not good hospitality!  I made a complaint to the manager and was offered a gift certificate. When I went to pick it up I could tell the woman who gave it to me was her
her demeanor and body language was rude!

It's hard to believe you can still find this kind of value Alpine, CA . I can't recommend this hotel with more enthusiasm. This little gem has character, location, and a surprisingly new interior going for it. I enjoyed my stay, the staff were helpful and pleasant, and couldn't believe that parking was free. Thanks so much!

The hotel was just beautiful, the staff was great and we would definitely stay there again. Great location and we couldn't beat the price for the accommodations and amenities. Beautiful historic hotel :)

Good and comfy hotel. They have a "house" cat that roams around the place and the lobby. He's real cool. Rooms are clean, price is good, there are restaurants within walking distance, or the Casino will send a bus and pick you up.
