My wife and I stayed for the second time and as always the stay was top notch. We had a suite, lots of room. Last time we had the whirlpool and this time we opted for the fireplace. Both are first rate. Little touches like the towels and tissue folding. The bed was wonderful. Breakfast is continental and just so, so. It is the accommodations that are simply wonderful.

Too pricey for the "Suite".  The room is simply 8 foot longer than a standard room and there is a fold out couch in the space.  Beds are new but ultra cheap and very uncomfortable.  You can feel every spring.  The place is immaculately clean and well kept, great service.  Tiny hot tub (6 person capacity)

Never been to Angels Camp before.  and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at what a nice area this is.  beautiful during spring.  OK, we checked into this reasonably price Hotel, my first impression was, very cute!  we got into our hotel room and it smelled Good.  Like it had just been remodeled.  everything was Super clean.  I was very impressed with just about everything.   I only gave it 4 stars because our bathroom although very clean, I had two things that bothered me.  1st, which I know we all get mildew in our showers, well, there were two spots that I could see some mildew.  nothing some tilex couldn't clean up.  then the Bath tub seemed to be clogged, it didn't drain very well.  I'm sure it's a simple fix.  but other then that.  the Place was perfect!

Nice hotel in the gold country where Hwys 4 and 49 meet.  Spacious rooms with double sinks, micro and refrig.  Fitness room, outdoor pool and hottub.  Very cutely decorated breakfast room.

WOW... clean, fresh airy rooms with great private balcony's.  Friendly staff and nice continental breakfast was included.  Nice pool and sauna used the sauna and it was clear and clean.  Didn't take my dog, but it's nice to know they accept pets... and I'd have no clue any had ever been on the property!

Location and hotel location are nice. Room was pretty good too.
BUT ,here is a PROBLEM. When my husband checked in,he said that we have a dog with us (because it is need to be paid extra for it). We spend the day in Angels Camp, and at evening I stopped by  administration to ask if it will be ok to take our dog in pool area. The man was rude, and said that we need to check- in our dog, otherwise we will get i fine...I didn't know who to blame in this situation, but my husband and I really don*t like the service.

On our way to Lake Tahoe, we stopped over in Angels Camp for the night.  This is my first time in Angels Camp and not knowing the area very well and having not research the area at all, we stumbled upon this Best Western.  Hotel is new, very clean.  It is approximately .89 mile away from downtown where there are cute antique shops, a movie theater with current movies, a few restaurants.  We ate dinner at Crusco's Restaurant (Italian) 1240 S. Main Street.  Very good food and not overpriced.  The room we had, 218 is large, has free internet, microwave, mini refrigerator, coffee maker and two separate sink areas. Great for getting ready in the morning.  We won't hestiate to stay here again if we come by Angel's Camp.

We stayed one night at this Best Western, which we chose because we were traveling with our dog. The room we got was very clean and quite comfortable. The price was reasonable (we used our AAA discount) and the pet fee is only $15/night. There's not much choice in the area if you're traveling with a pet, but this was quite a nice place to go.

I agree with the other posts.  Great place to stay and very reasonable.  We've stayed on other hotels in Calaveras county recently, but this was, by leaps and bounds, better than all the others.  Large bathroom, clean roomy room, very friendly staff, good firm beds, quiet, nice breakfast.  What's not to like.  We'll definitely stay here again.

We had our dog with us. The room was very comfortable with extras like a microwave, refrigerator, magnifying mirror, two sink areas.  It was quiet and the staff was friendly.

I wanted to stay here because I could bring my dog. I was only staying there for one night. They were very surprised to hear we were bringing a pet, even though we confirmed with the front desk the day before we arrived. The front desk suddenly turned very hostile and they seemed really put out by the news. The beds were horrible and they had the smallest most uncomfortable pillows I have ever slept on. Would not recommend staying there for those high prices.

When I first called to make reservations I wasn't the most confident about the staff. But once I got there and checked in, the staff was absolutely wonderful. I had a cake delivered for my girlfriend's birthday and the gentleman at the front desk went above and beyond and not only brought the cake to my room but took it out of the box so it would be ready for the surprise. It's in these little details that can really make the difference in good customer service versus GREAT costumer service. We reserved the room with the Jacuzzi; it was very spacious, clean and the bed was really comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel to any friends and family and if I ever visit the area again, this is where I would stay.

Relatively new hotel.  We stayed for one night to attend a wedding in the Gold Country.  Rooms were very modern and very clean.  Nice beds.

Friendly greeter at the counter.  Has pool and spa and workout room.

Free continental breakfast.  Reasonable prices.

A real gem in the Angels Camp area.

We come and stay here once a year and this year was our third trip. We continue to come here because it is quiet, clean, and comfortable.  The room was large and there was plenty of room for 2 adults and two teenagers.  What we especially liked was the large bathroom and there was also had a sink and vanity area outside the bathroom.  This was great in the morning, when everyone was getting ready.  There was also a refrigerator and microwave in the room. We really enjoyed the variety of breakfast items they served - 3 kinds of fruit, cereal, yogurt, muffins, assorted breads, belgium waffles that you make yourself, along with "Breakfast Jacks" - egg, ham, cheese on a bun!  They also served 2 kinds of juice, coffee and a selection of teas. We thought felt that the money we paid was well worth it for the experience we had.

When we told our friends and colleagues that we were heading off to Gold Country for the weekend in search of fall colors, all we got were blank stares.  Admittedly, I wouldn't have been able to pinpoint Sutter's Mill or the Mother Lode prior to an Xmas getaway to Angels Camp last year, but for any people out there looking for a local getaway that is not chichi like Napa/Sonoma (which I enjoy for different reasons), Gold Country is, well, GOLD!

We booked our room at Best Western Cedar Inn & Suites directly on the Best Western website a few days before our trip.  $120 a night after tax, which seemed pretty decent (don't know the local average).  We arrived a little early, and they let us check in.  Lobby smelled a little funky though, so that worried me - made me imagine that our room would be nasty with curling wallpaper, water stains, gross carpet and not-so-faint smell of cigarettes lingering in the air.......

Boy were we happy to find that everything was exactly the way Yelper Jetter A. described - clean, NON-funky-smelling large rooms with a separate living room/study area, microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker, one sink in the bathroom, one sink outside the bathroom, big shower head over bathtub, free Internet and a very comfortable bed with decently nice sheets and plenty of pillows.  TV was a little small and awkwardly placed in between the living room and bedroom areas, but still good for its purpose.  They also serve complimentary continental breakfast in the lobby from 7:00 - 10:00 AM, I believe.

Thus, if you ever find yourself in Gold Country or passing through, the Best Western Cedar Inn & Suites in Angels Camp is definitely a good option for a place to stay.

We stayed a weekend and over all it was very nice. The hotel is clean and tidy and the staff that I did see was friendly. We had a suite which was very roomy and nice, my only complaint is there is no airflow into the bedroom part unless you have the door open to the balcony. The Sitting area is cold and the bed is hot. We are already planning our next trip and we will be staying here again. The breakfast area is stocked very nicely and the pool and fitness area was clean and inviting. Wifi worked great and there are lots of great local small restaurants near by. Close to other small gold towns. Very quaint.

Sept 2012
Context: we arrived at 3:00 to a filled hotel so we were glad we had reservations. We had booked two king suites.
Atmosphere: angels camp is a rough and ready small town that seemed pretty barren. There is a Starbucks market area which seems to be the most thriving area with a McDonald's and a tasty yogurt spot. The hotel is just off hwy 4, abutting the main street, but most rooms are back from the road. It's a small one wing, two floor place with a decent sized pool and hot tub outside at the front. The place serves a very expanded continental breakfast including make your own waffles, hard boiled eggs, bagels, muffins, yogurt, juice amd fruit.
Service: we were greeted at the front desk and the guy was helpful in arranging our accommodations so we could be next door to one another. At the breakfast, the server attempted to help me find black tea, going to ask someone else when we couldn't find it.
Rooms: our king suites were spacious with two sinks, one in the bathroom and one outside. There was a fridge and microwave and the front area is the king bed and old tv and then the back area, divided by a wall but with no door so the rooms aren't really separate or private. In the back area is a couch and a chair and the tv can be angled to see it from there.  There is also a large balcony with chairs but it basically overlooks the parking lot.
Each room has its own climate control and we were able to get the room pretty cool, but it runs on and off so might bother some people with the noise. The bed was comfortable, softish and the sheets were clearly worn, as was the blanket. The room could use some upgrading.  Everything was clean though. Bathroom had lotion, shampoo, conditioner etc. towels were thick shower curtain bowed out nicely making the shower more spacious.

I recently spent 2 weeks (May 9 to May 22) at this hotel. It is small but room was large and comfortable with a balcony for enjoying the morning air. I booked online and chose a room with a King bed (even though I was traveling alone), microwave, fridge, and fireplace. The room was quiet and clean and maid service kept the fresh towels supplied daily. A previous poster noted that the bed pillows are small. There were 5 on my bed so I had no problem with having enough comfort but if you're used to a large firm pillow, you would need to bring your own. There was plenty of parking even though several nights during my stay, the hotel was full.

Free breakfast in the lobby is served from 7 to 10 AM. It included breakfast sandwiches, about a dozen kinds of breads/muffins/bagels which could be toasted. There were 2 kinds of jelly, cream cheese to put on them. In a small fridge there were hardboiled eggs and yogurt. There was also 4 different kinds of cold cereals along with instant oatmeal. There was also a make-your-own Belgian waffle maker which made nice hot waffles.

Beverages included orange and apple juice, flavored teas, coffee and milk. The only fresh fruit were bananas and apples. Certainly enough for a filling breakfast before heading out for the day.

I would stay here again if the opportunity arises. Reasonably priced.

We enjoyed this place.  Peaceful location, clean, but the complimentary breakfast was not impressive... you can make your own waffles (that was good), breakfast muffin (like McDonald's Egg McMuffin but smaller), cereal, instant oatmeal, breakfast pastries, muffins, bread, yogurt, juices, coffee... and that's about  it.  Best Western hotels that we've stayed in before had much nicer breakfasts. So that was disappointing. The beds are very comfortable and great mattresses.

I was really not impressed.  At other Best Westerns we stayed at, they had complimentary wine and cheese around happy hour.  I wish I remember where that  was...or was it another hotel. ..  I just remember trying to get back to get some wine and cheese during that time...

I want to give 3.5 stars, but I decided that I should be nice.  Overall, a very good experience.  Glean, comfortable rooms, everything as promised, reservation available when I checked in, jacuzzi tub, two sinks, those nice shampoos, lotions and conditioners that were readily replenished and actually smelled good.  I'll probably stay here again, and would absolutely recommend it.  Oh, and free wifi!

The bad:

Staff: The man checking me in was a jerk for no reason I could figure out.  Maybe because I'm from out of town?  Does he know what his job is? I don't know, but as my first experience while checking in, I was very concerned.  The woman checking me out told me I needed to wait (it was 7 am) while the computer "did its little start up thing."  Okay... not sure what that means or why you'd wait till 7 am to turn it on?

The free breakfast: No protein at all (no eggs, peanut butter, yogurt, cheese, etc.), stale toast.  Yeah.  Yum Yum.

In room: No creamer with the coffee, which was especially annoying since they had the non-perishable half-n-half downstairs at the free breakfast.

Parking/getting your luggage to your room:  I wasn't there when many people were there, so this wasn't too bad, but the hotel is an odd layout that works great for the rooms, but makes it hard to get your luggage to rooms near the street easily.  When full, I imagine the parking is a nightmare.

The workout room:  I'm not picky about the stuff in a hotel fitness center, but some of the machines here needed replacement. The stationary bike and stair climber don't work, and I was too afraid to try the treadmill given the state of the other two machines.

As a business traveler, I have stayed in great places, mediocre places and some real dumps.  Without doubt, this is the best Best Western location I've ever experienced, and I have experienced several.  Better yet, this place was experienced on a long family weekend, not business.

Clean, spacious and modern facility.  A traveler's tri-fecta.  The first T.V. in room 222 could use replacing, though.

Staff:  Extremely helpful and friendly (as were all the folks we experienced in Angels Camp).  Quite the breath of fresh air during this day in age.

Rate:  Much more-than-fair.

Breakfast:  Adequate.

Location:  Very convenient.

Will definitely be back soon.

Really enjoyed our stay here.  The rooms were very well insulated so there seemed to be no noise at any time.  The decor was very nice and clean.  Not impressed with the breakfast....stayed at other BW and they had hot eggs and sausage at least.  This one was mainly cold items and lots of carbs.  Everything else was great here.

Staff was nice enough to leave my key cards on the door when they had to leave for the night as I checked in around 11 PM.  I initially panicked that we'd be sleeping in our cars.

I was initially impressed even w/ the halls.  I love how the rooms had granite tops and new mini-appliances (microwave and fridge).  Everything was clean (and I'm want my room sparkling clean).  The towels were folded nicely with decorations like in nicer hotels.  They gave us 2 sets of lotions, shampoo, and conditioner.  The room had 2 sinks - one outside the bathroom.  You can change the spray type of the shower head.  The beds were comfortable and clean (smelled fresh).  The breakfast by the lobby consisted of reheatable breakfast sandwich and the usual (waffles, breads/bagels, cereal, yogurt, and fruits).  The coffee came out of a machine, which was different.

The only complaint would be that it wasn't central heating.  However, I was not bothered by the noise while sleeping with the heater on.  The balcony looks out onto the balcony, but since it was freezing we didn't use it.

Place was very nice.  We had room 223, on the corner, with a jacuzzi tub and wall separating he bedroom - a little fridge and microwave, and TWO tvs.  An interesting layout.   Having our boy on the pullout sofa bed was handy.  The very faint smoke smell marked it as a smoking room in the distant past, but it was not a problem.  Pool/hottub was good, and the breakfast had plenty of options.  With only 45 rooms, its a small cozy Best Western.

This is a typical Best Western, clean and free breakfast! I was surprised at how comfortable the bed was at most hotels toss and turn all night but I was able to get a good night sleep until the dog in the neighboring house started barking at 7am!

I am very happy that we stayed here. The room was clean, the pool was close to our room and the staff was helpful. There isn't too much very close by, but we walked down to the main part of town which is about a 15 min walk. There's a couple restaurants and lots of cute shops.
I will definitely stay here again!

In my personal rating system, I can't imagine ever giving a Best Western more than three stars. As we pulled in to the parking lot here, three stars looked like a slam dunk. The facility is well-maintained and the rooms are attractive and updated. So what happened? Worst...pillows...ever. Logs covered with cloth would have been more comfortable. Also, there was no ventilation in the bathroom. Hey, guys, ever heard of a fan?

The exterior looks inviting and the staff was very pleasant. The room was clean, quiet and well maintained. Bed and pillows were a bit uncomfortable so didn't get the best nights rest. The breakfast was disappointing. Vending machine coffee was worse than hospital coffee and the food selection was carbs, carbs and more carbs.

This was my second GREAT stay at the Best Western Angels Camp in the historic Gold Rush country of California. As my group and I were attending a fundraiser Oct 19 in San Andreas at the Performing Animal Welfare Society ( pawsweb.org ) sanctuary to benefit the elephants and animals there, I knew we all would have a great stay at the Best Western in Angels Camp, 11 miles from San Andreas.

This was another wonderful stay. This hotel offers modern amenities, nice big CLEAN rooms, helpful staff in a great location. My mother and I shared a 2 bedroom suite, and it was huge. We stayed in room 122 which was large, quiet, clean, had a gas fireplace and a large spa tub.

The complimentary breakfast was abundant and offered a little bit of everything, including  cereals, fruit, assorted muffins, bagels, breads, and a "make your own waffles station". Everything was VERY good!  Again, the location is close to so many small historic towns, and even on our second night we drove to a quaint town called Murphy's which is about 6 miles away and had a great dinner at Murphy's Grill.

This was my first stay at Best Western Cedar Inn in Angels Camp (3 nights).  The rooms were very clean and mine was HUGE (ask for room 100) and right off of the pool.  The staff were helpful and friendly and the continental breakfast was adequate.  The downside is that the rooms were a bit difficult to access for me as I have a bad leg; there are no elevators.  The access door from the rooms to the front desk/breakfast area is locked until 7am (what's up with that?)  I would stay here again, though.

To start the room I pick was non-smoking and it actually didn't smell like smoke. Two thumbs up! Plenty of parking even if you have an RV. The room was clean when I came in. Bathroom door was a little weird because of you opened all the way it would block the walk way in your room, but I'm just being picky now haha. I know 1st world problem right? But all in all a comfortable room and good price.

Great rooms.  At the top of the stairs but never heard anyone.  This is great.  Very clean, clean pool area.  Great staff. This is the second time my husband and I have stayed here in the last 2 weeks. They upgraded our room to the king mini suite. The room is very elegant and super clean. The TV is a huge flat screen which is nice because you can see it great from the couch and the bed. I always bring my own pillows but next time I'll leave them at home. Their pillows are amazing. Our room had a coffee pot, refrigerator and a microwave.  They have a huge lot in the back where we can pull our truck and boat. We will stay here again when we come into town the next time.

There are many different types and categories of hotels in the US. My work and travels have brought me all over the continent a hundred times, at least.

Mostly I love luxury locations and incredible experiences... who doesn't. But sometimes, more and more lately, I really love quaint nondescript little places where I can feel connected to the local people and their way of life.

Angels Camp, California fit that bill for me today. There was a big gathering at my Sister's fancy new custom estate there for her newlywed son and we had to spill over at a Best Western for the night.

This Best Western Cedar Inn & Suites is fairly new with nice modern rooms that are comparable to Hyatt Regencies or Marriott Courtyards I used to stay at for business trips.

They had free breakfast accoutrements in the dining area in the lobby.

What touched me and made my brief time here meaningful was the very kind and wonderful front desk staff. Max in the evening and Paige in the morning were patient, sweet and very warm!

Plain & simple, clean, new, only what you need for a stay over and pleasantly pleasant.

Just what the doctor ordered!

Whats to say? It's everything you expect a hotel to be, and everything you'd expect to
have in the room is there (fridge, microwave, coffee maker, hair driver, soaps etc.
LAUNDRY bag (so many places for get these!) ironing board, iron, desk, chair, pens paper, Internet access, extra towels, EVERYTHING!). AND without spending a bundle. We've stayed twice, and both times were good.
Just one comment, if your room is outside in the back, they have an outdoor smoking section there, and people's smoke completely fills the hallway.
This time we were by the pool. No balcony, but no smoke either. Nice.

It's amazing how many crappy places there are out there, but this isn't one of them.
Clean, quiet and complete.

It's relatively new, so when I say quiet, I mean you don't hear ONE thing from outside your room. A real sweet relief compared to so many other places.
I had to laugh when someone said something about the pillows.
I take my own pillows with me everywhere now. Hotels all seem to have these little "marshmallow' pillows anymore. They're pretty worthless but with my own pillows, I sleep just fine.

Our new go to place when visiting in and around Angels Camp.
If you plan to wine tasting, check the internet to see if they're having
a DUI checkpoint, which they were having last weekend right down the street.
I'm not suggesting anyone drive drunk, but if you want to avoid the hassle of doing
stupid human tricks and blowing in a meter because you had one glass of wine with dinner and they "smell" alcohol which in my experience they always do even when you're not drinking , just Google it in advance, and perhaps consider staying in Murphy's and walking to your hotel, or cabbing it. Seems they do them every 6 months or so, right in town. Which is odd, since there really isn't any reason to drive through town. The main highway goes around it and it was only in one direction leaving town. 10 pm on Saturday, there's not one establishment open at all, no bars nothing. Hmmmm.
That being said we didn't drink any wine with dinner at all just to be safe but in the end, we didn't go through it anyway. All roads into town weren't part of it. Odd.

Anyway, the motel is recommended!
