We arrived at around 7:30 pm to 100 degree heat.  We checked in and were told that every room has a fridge and microwave.  The first room we walked into with luggage in tow, did not have a microwave.  (We had brought a delicious dinner that needed to be warmed).  On to the next room.  No microwave.  Okay, room #3.  Broken furniture and stunk like old people had been held hostage during the last great war.  Alrighty then.  Finally, on room 5 we opted to stay.  On the bed was a survey to state your opinion on your stay and to let the hotel know if the room had any problems.  Well, it was already filled out by the last guests.  Broken furniture, low pressure in the shower, slow drain, etc.  Wonderful.  My DH had to use the restroom a few minutes after we entered the room.  OMIGAWD!  It smelled like poop Armageddon.  To top it off someone had used a towel and taken a sh*t in the toilet within minutes of our check-in.  I went to use the shower (after deodorizing the bathroom) and found it laden with insects.

The bed was atrocious.  It sagged so much in the middle I lost my DH twice.  We couldn't wait to get on the road the next morning.  We did stop for the free continental breakfast and found it was locked.  The lady hanging out there didn't speak English and finally after a 5 minute wait got it unlocked.  Once in the room was hot, but the free breakfast surprisingly good.

This room cost $80 a night.  In Bakersfield, no less.  You would expect a little more like no broken furniture and a bed that isn't over 5 decades old.  I think Motel 6 is looking better and better.

I needed a last minute place to crash. I knew I'd only be in the room for a max of 6 hours, so I wasn't too picky about where I stayed. And at $40 I wasn't expecting too much. I check in and get to the room, to find it smelling like smoke, even though I'm in a non smoking room. The refrigerator is warm, since it's unplugged and smells like mildew. The room was stifling hot, but the little swamp cooler was effective. I call the front desk to inform them that the toilet doesn't work & the girl tells me she can change my room, but I'll have to get the key. I realize this isn't fancy place or anything, but seriously, you work here so bring the key to my room. Anyways, I told her I didn't have time for that, so she says she can send maintenance down to fix it, I hang up the phone, walk to the restroom & the maintenance guy is knocking on the door. He promptly fixes whatever was wrong. There's a gate around the rooms, but it seems pointless as it didn't seem to lock.  The continental breakfast was ok. But when or where are they ever really great?! The bed was actually decent and didn't feel like cot. If I'm doing a quick turn around, I guess I'd consider staying here.

We stayed Jan 2012 - No WiFi - No telephone service from front desk - No HOT WATER!  No service by staff - Staff would not contact management.  We were told that they are under new ownership.....??? Is this the way the new owners want to treat their customers?  We were told that the manager would contact us.....that was over 2 weeks ago!

Days Inn Bakersfield now has opened the Elevation Lounge and the VIP Mongolian BBQ. Its the only place in bakersfield with such facility.

Place is continously being upgraded for last 3 years or so. Rates are reasonable around $ 60 and with the nice breakfast with hot waffles its definetely worth the money and yes, ample parking with lots of fast foods and restaurants in walking distace

If you need a place just to stay the night this place might be ok. I've stayed here many times not for anything else than a cheap place to stay the night. Quality is not a word know to this location.

If I could give it less than 1 star, I would.  Carpet in the entire establishment is filthy. The beds are uncomfortable.  There is a night club right next door that stays open to the wee hours of the night.  Plan on getting no sleep.  I went to at least get in a workout, and was informed by the front desk help that the room is broken...how can an entire room be broken.  There also seems to be some electrical problems going on in the room.  I am stuck here for one more day, but I will not be coming back.

The rooms are pretty clean, the pool is nice. The free breakfast including freshly made waffles is excellent. Bathroom wad clean and the sheets fresh on the bed. Air conditioning is top notch.

My only issue was that my son contracted ring worm from the pool :(

I was just looking for a cheap crash pad on a motorcycle trip... and I found it.

It was fairly clean, fairly cheap, and the continental breakfast came with yummy waffles. We found a place right outside our room to park the motorcycles. It has a pool. I think it must have been remodeled since the prior review.

Two small annoyances. They said they don't offer rollaway beds. Not even for money. And they use one of those old fashioned punchcard-style keys and will charge you if you don't return them.

Nothing gross... except that one of my companions went down a back corridor and found about a million cockroaches.

Our room was disgustingly dirty in every possible way.  We were afraid to walk on the carpeting/floor barefoot.  There were drunk derelicts hanging out in the parking lot (although they did have a security guard).  The room was cheap but I would never stay here again.  There's a nice Hampton Inn down the street for a few more dollars a night.

Okay - after I go to check out, I soon discover that the man who entered my room unceremoniously was the gotdayum maintenance man....okay, so that explains the skeleton key...

however, the point remains - what the hell is the maintenance man doing barging into occupied rooms first thing in the morning - he misread the right room number?  Didn't know that in any case, he should fucking knock on the damn door first?

Stayed here for one night on our way from Death Valley to Yosemite. There is a lot of parking and even though we arrived late, we had a spot to park. The lady at reception could have been friendlier! The room was good and clean. So was the bathroom but as it is old, the bath gave the feeling it wasn't that clean... Overall, there was everything we needed! The breakfast was more than we expected with juice, hot drinks, bagels, toast an waffles! It was good for our one night stop!

The room was over run with cockroaches. The price is cheaper than the others but the smell in the non-smoking room was horrendous. The air conditioning was so loud it almost drowned out the sounds of the people having arguments in the surrounding rooms...almost.,,this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed ...stay clear from this flophouse

If your trying to deal with ignorance and discussing room conditions you've found the best of both. Curtains aren't big enough to close, so i have no privacy. Lights don't work and the non smoking room smells like poss or an old decaying body might have been under my mattress. Was to scared to look! When I presented the issues I was told, I would not be refunded or compensated for my room. I wanted to leave and they basically told me tuff titty! Go anywhere else. I have 3 more days on this trip and cancelled my reservation. Going to a competitor and never returning to Days Inn. Shame on you Assmeralda for your poor customer service.

Bakersfield sucks, so I was hoping the hotel wouldn't suck too... Unfortunately I was wrong. Gross and dirty and the complimentary breakfast made me sick! I'll just be sure to never return to that entire disgusting city!

Arriving at 1am, we were desperate for a bed to sleep in and this place was the first option we found on booking.com . If you're in the mood for a time machine trip back to the 70s then this is your spot, unfortunately the 70s have passed and so has this property's expiration date. Incredibly, they've somehow managed to preserve the smell of all bowling alley's built prior to 1982.  In dire need of a renovation, even what little is offered for breakfast will leave you wanting much more.  The last thing to rub me the wrong way was the half-sized pillows on the bed; fact is, if i wanted a throw pillow under my head I'd sleep on a couch -- IMHO, all hotels contributing to this idiotic mini-pillow trend should be boycotted.  Gripes aside, the pool area is pretty decent and the water was refreshing.

We came in really late at night. The front of the hotel looks fine but our room was on the side of the hotel. When we went around to the side it got really sketchy looking. The room smelled, the bathroom looked to have mold on the floor in corners. The shower head was so low and had no pressure. We found baby cockroaches on the floor. From all this we should have packed up and left but it was so late so we stayed.  Next morning we woke up with bed bug bites. This place is cheap but definetly not worth staying there are way better choice hotels nearby. Also it was the middle of the summer and the pool was a murky green color, looked like a swamp in the middle of the courtyard. Extremely gross. This place needs remodeled and bug bombed.

Location close to freeway. Bathroom tub looked liked it hadn't been cleaned in months, water didn't drain and shower head was horrible.

Was a little nervous about the cleanliness of the room. Doesn't seen like they fix minor stuff, really?

Ended up staying here because my reservation at the other hotel was cancelled.  Not going back.

WoW...Where do I start? I was online looking for a place to stay during my travels for work, I was staying in Bakersfield  for a week.      Being a frequent traveler I look for certain amenities in a hotel such as a fitness center, frigerator & microwave. All of which this hotel was supposed to have as advertised online, after checking in I found out this hotel offers no fitness center whatsoever. Microwave and refrigerator are only in certain rooms...?      It does offer a mediocre breakfast for the price of the room & there's a pool/spa but the television in the room should be accompanied by an 8 track  player.      I honestly don't have much good to say after my experience here, besides I'm surprised they don't offer these rooms by the hour.

Janky little hotel, as expected. Room smelled a little funny but got used to it. Heater works great! I was taller than my shower head...

Lots of people in town this weekend for apparently some agriculture convention?? Only in bakersfield...

Neighbors are loud and sketchy. There's a security guard walking around though!

If you are concerned about your health, don't stay here. Room smelled funny, door had problems closing, and last but not least COCKROACHES ALERT!!! Stay away!

When asking for a refund they suddenly stop their comprehension of the English language immediately and give you a card with a number to call.

Loosy hotel, if the healt inspection would see this, they would be out of business immediately...

The staff barely speaks English, I also had the person Assmeralda which was very unfriendly.

I say it one more time, do not stay here, the rodents will eat you alive during the night!

(There is a Best Western a little further, go there!)

The staff is nice and most of them try very hard to be accommodating. The room is clean and the housekeeping staff are sweet.

Almost everyday we were only given two bath towels, one hand towel, one wash cloth and sometimes a floor mat by housekeeping. They were fully aware there were two of us in the room, but I had to ask for extra towels. We stayed for 31 days, so we only asked for housekeeping every 3 days. I thought we were doing a nice thing by not asking them to come everyday, but when I asked about the towels they always said, "We don't have enough finished from the laundry yet." So, don't expect enough towels when you visit. It seems like an everyday issue.

The exercise room/gym is closed indefinitely. The website doesn't tell you that, and we booked because we wanted a place with a gym, so we were disappointed. When we asked the staff for a discount because we didn't get what we thought we were getting (this was the day after check in) we were told, "Sorry, but no. You already got a discount. You can't have anymore." So we went to a local gym and signed up. The gym charges $60 a month if you only get one month, but we would have lost more than that if we had cancelled our room.

The pool is really nice, when it's open. It was closed for 8 days during our visit because it turned green. It turned green because of a private party that was held in the pool. Most of the people at the party were not staying at the hotel and there were over 50 children in the pool all day, some of whom were in diapers. Even the spa was filled with babies. These "private parties" happened 3 times during our stay of 31 days, but only once did the pool have to be closed. That's really upsetting. After all the chemicals it took to get the pool fixed, and then another party, we just stopped using the pool. It was disgusting.

The breakfast consists of waffles, stale white bread and bagels, packets of oatmeal, a couple of muffins (and those disappear quick), juice and coffee. No fruit or anything refrigerated. Nothing I would eat.

Our room smelled like mildew and mold a couple of times, so we would open all the doors in the evening and vent it, but the smell would return in a few days. I'm thinking the carpet is full of mildew from people coming in wet from the pool.

On a positive note, the rest of the room was always sparkling clean, the grounds are very pretty and we liked the location a great deal. The price was good, but that only goes so far. For just a little more money we could have had far more and not been cheated out of all of the things the website promised.

Lastly, the amount of hookers and drug addicts who stay there is very high. Just seeing them there every weekend is frightening. And one night we came in at 3 am from the hospital (we were there for a family issue, which is why we stayed a month) and the security guard AND the desk clerk were asleep in the lobby. So, that doesn't make a person feel safe.

    Obviously, we won't go back.

Remember when a Days Inn was a decent place to stay? I can tell this was one of those places and perhaps they still have a block of rooms the still meet the standard....but using an online booking option to get a discount will get you a sketchy located room, sliding doors nailed shut, paper thin walls, and random people roaming thru the halls.

The area of rooms facing the pool courtyard area looked nice.

I also had the chance to use a meeting room for a group of 50.
The meeting facilities seemed very nice but the room we used smelled like cat spray.
