    I've stayed in many hotels, and stayed in a couple in the Bakersfield area. This one happened to be right across the street from the office I needed to go to which was a plus. Lets start with the positives before I go into the negatives. They have LG LCDs, which is always great, they push 1080i and they do have a component input. For those of us that travel a lot and bring our video game systems everywhere, this is a plus. Unfortunately they cover up the rest of the inputs on the back. The bathroom is nice, not fancy. The room is quite big as is the desk. They have free wired and wireless internet through ibahn, which is always a plus. The parking is free. The only thing I really have to complain about is the fact that there seemed to be no elevators, and I stayed on the 2nd floor both times. Lugging suitcases up the stairs is quite a pain. The layout of the hotel was advantageous, as parking was right next to the buildings. Overall this was a good hotel, but I wouldn't say it's great. I would give this hotel a 3.5 if I could. Perhaps my score is influenced by the city itself, if this weren't in Bakersfield perhaps I would give it a 4 without a problem.

    I don't get the negative reviews. The room was large, clean and free of bed bugs. I did not hear my any noise from the neighboring rooms. Despite the parking near your room, it is not a standard motel - the grounds are a big change from the other national brands. The bed was very comfortable, and I purchased the room from Hotwire for $52 plus taxes. Oh yeah, the shower was great.

    not bad.  i was in bakersfield on business =( and stayed here for a night.  the rooms are large, with enough room for a king bed, desk, a couch and a lounge chair, with enough space left over to do yoga (i don't do yoga, but if i wanted to pick it up, i'd have enough room in this room to do it).  plus, a new flatscreen tv.  one negative was that an old bar of soap was left in the bathroom, but when i informed the hotel of that, they apologized and added points to my account.  that's good customer service.

    there's a restaurant on the premises called the bistro.  i got breakfast here and it was ok, but expensive.  about $10 for 2 eggs and a side of ham.  half a grapefruilt was $4!  i looked through their all day menu and shrimp cocktail was like $18 and prime rib was like $40.  wtf, it's BAKERSFIELD people...and it's a FOUR POINTS SHERATON.  you are not the waldorf in nyc.  you can't charge prices like that.

    Good sized room, very clean bathroom.

    Continental breakfast was lacking: Cereal, pastries, juice and coffee. Some fresh fruit would have been a nice addition.

    Front desk staff was not helpful or friendly at all. Decent parking, nice grounds, limited vending machine choices, no water or treats, only soda. Loud neighbors and busy parking lot was a turn off.

    Gave my husband and I two double beds, didn't tell us though, we were very surprised when we arrived at our room. She should have warned us at check in. 6'4" husband didn't appreciate that. They were comfortable, but small.

    No newspaper at door. They said they don't get papers on the weekend. For the price ($44/night on priceline), I am not totally complaining, Only a three star hotel, so I wasn't expecting much.

    Might stay there again if ever staying in Bakersfield in the future.

    I'm a fan ...
    Reliable hotel shuttle, a printer and computer that actually CAN print out a boarding pass, clean room, comfortable bed, good water pressure.  The staff isn't ultra-friendly but that's okay with me because they zip you in and zip you out with zero fuss.  Plenty of food options within walking distance and a pool/jacuzzi set up that looked a bit extra special and really inviting (although I didn't get a chance to use it).  This was my first stay in Bakersfield but I've stayed at two other Four Points and I'm a BIG fan.  Compared to the amenities and pricing of their competitors, Four Points is a gem.

    I stayed here during a recent work trip.  The hotel is clean and in a good location - for Bakersfield.  The bathroom was H-U-G-E, and the bed was fairly comfy.  The (outdoor) pool looked like it would be nice in the summertime.

    The downside was that I could hear every single word spoken by my neighbors.  Perhaps this hotel was built prior to the invention of insulation?  I dunno.  I do know that the guy staying in the room on the left thinks he'll get laid tonight, and the guy on the right needs to take a giant dump.

    I was able to stay here for $52 a night and was quite happy with my stay. The pool area is very nice and there is a great area in the middle of all the buildings for walking with fountains and grassy areas. A complementary breakfast would have been nice, but my stay here was still great. The room and facilities were very clean and nicely decorated. I would definitely stay here again at my rate if I had any reason to be in Bakersfield.

    It's true, the Four Points Sheraton has large clean rooms with thin walls.  I'd only give it three stars, except for the fact that at this price, it's better than the other options in Bakerspatch and I'll stay here every time I visit for business.  You think I'm here on vacation?!  Plus, the bedding is nice, the pool and Jacuzzi are cool, the fitness center is halfway decent and the Bistro restaurant is really good, though pricey.  Be sure to get the 10% off coupon at the front desk if you're going to eat there.

    This place sucks!!! Gave us the wrong room!!! We walk in and there was another person stuff!!! We have to wait for them to bring us a new key but it took them so long I have to walk to the lobby and get it myself. I even had to switch rooms because the people nxt store were REALLY noisy!!!

    I am trying really hard to remember this hotel. I stayed here 3 or 4 weeks ago, but can't remember much about it. I guess that is how non-descript it was.

    Parking was free. It was in a central Bakersfield location (I think).  It wasn't old and rundown, but can't remember if it was new.

    Actually, there wasn't very many choices in Bakersfield as far as hotels. I guess everybody just drives through?

    I remember a long time ago, the first time I went thru Bakersfield on highway 99, there was a sign, something like the "Welcome to Las Vegas" sign. This one said:

    "Sun, Fun, Play, Stay....Welcome to Bakersfield"

    And underneath that. "Welcome Jehovah's Witness Convention".

    This Four Points Sheraton cost $156.80 a night! That is more expensive than the one in Culver City or LAX!

    No wonder  everyone drives thru Bakersfield, despite the sign begging them to stay!

    Wow, what a nice hotel. Lovely, great friendly check-in by the lovely Ximenia at the front desk. Pool is amazing and heated with whirlpool as well. Beautiful walk to our room and then even more Wow. The King Room is huge. Large Flat Screen TV with loads of channels. Free Wi-Fi. Great large bathroom. Biggest work desk I've encountered. Really comfy desk chair plus a nice arm chair with a reading lamp behind. A nice bench to put our luggage on so it's not on the floor. Really nice and comfy bed. Plenty of light. I challenge anybody to find fault with this lovely hotel. Usually we get the Doubletree which is fine but this is far better and one of the best rooms we've had in the past year. (And we stay in hotels 260 nights a year!) I can't wait to say here again. I told my wife we should just book it another night and relax in luxury. Did I mention it's as quiet as a mouse here as well! Love it!

    Geesh. I hate how loyal I am. I really like staying here. I got a ticket and had to come back to town. I asked for two wake up calls n got neither! I missed my court but guess what?? I mixed the days up anyways so I have to come back Monday. I called the front desk n told them that I did not get my wake up calls n I would just like to extend cause I'm still in bed and sleepy. She didn't apologize about the wake up calls til she called back telling me I would have to switch rooms, come down and swipe my card again and have another credit card hold ya thanks. I have an attitude now! I'm tired as hell. I am trying to sleep but now I'm writing this stupid review. Hmm maybe the service here is going to drive me away. It sucks cause I like sleeping here and my bff lives really close, its quiet and its very convenient for me :(

    The Good:
    Decent location. Close enough to CA 58 and 99.  Not in the ghettos of Bakersfield. Front desk was very nice to my 2 year old who just endured the 2 hour road trip.  Nice grounds, with very cool water features.  Good pool area.  Nice LG LCD TV's.  Free wired and wireless internet.  

    The Bad:
    Room was not so clean.  Carpets needed a major shampooing. Would not give the kids a bath in the tub.  Room service is closed most of the time on the weekends.  

    The Fugly:
    We accidentally left our toiletry bag in the room after check out.  Cleaning staff says they have no idea what happened.  Without being completely accusatory I find that hard to believe.  Didn't lose anything too valuable.  Travel charger for the Sonicare and some prescription drugs were the most expensive thing.  But you don't expect cleptomaniacal staff at a Sheraton.

    I come to Bakersfield once a year as entertainment for a local event. So I have stayed at numerous hotels in the area. This one was just OK. I did expect more.

    To begin: They tried to put 3 of us in a room with one king size bed. We lugged all of our things upstairs(no elevators) and found a single bed. Tried to get a roll away, no joy. None to be had. We had to lug all our things across the property to get to a room with 2 beds. Which was away from the rest of our party.

    The middle: After relaxing for a while and getting ready for bed, my friend said my feet were black. I had been wearing shoes and socks all day. This tells me the carpets haven't been cleaned...ever? Concerns me because my other friends had children that were probably crawling around on the floor. The room is big...the front desk supplied toothpaste for us...and nice TV. Another downer, we were so tired from a long day and none of our keys worked. They had only programmed them for 1 night. Ugh. Another trip across the property. got some good sleep tho.

    The end: For Bakersfield....its better than most. I had just expected more.

    If you upgrade for a renovated room with a courtyard, here is the bad news. Their decorator was on acid. Blue, gold (not beige) striped carpets, beige and white striped walls and the best part is the baby blue and back checkered bed backboard with brown and white bed spread. There is no coordination, reminds me of how my ex-wife used to dress, what ever she picked up off the floor. It gets worse, the bathroom vanity is a table, white. It looks like an operating table with a sink in the middle.

    The upgraded room has a courtyard view according to the reservation, rather than the parking lot. However there is no courtyard, just another building we look at from our patio. This is because I was put at the end of the building. No big deal, I travel all the time and it happens just had to keep the curtins closed as people entered or exited the building. When I left (for what was to be an equally bad meal), I realized the parking lot was empty. This  person put me in one of the worst rooms even when all the others were empty. This is a true testament to their service and dedication. You can tell they really wanted me to come back.

    Here is what bothered me the most, the rug was filthy. After having taken a show the night before, I was walking barefoot that morning in the room. Then while approaching the bath tub and stepping in some of the water that had escaped while my wife was showering, there were instant mud prints. I washed my feet and watched the filth go down the drain.

    Lastly, No Free WIFI

    Not sure if the Four Points they are trying to make has anything to do with happy customers or clean rooms.

    Nice hotel, pool, jacuzzi, garden, gym....but reviews weren't kidding when they said the walls were too thin! Couldn't sleep all  night due to people walking around all night on the 2nd floor and a bunch of  guys talking all night, I felt like I was in the same room. It was horrible! Most def. not coming back here. DISAPPOINTED

    In a business park, so lots of rush hour traffic. Plenty of restaurants and other services just a few minutes away by car. No elevators. Staff is friendly but not very bright/helpful. Rooms are OK for the price.  Free WiFi is a joke, paid wasn't very stable either.  Pool heater is broken -- prepare to freeze!

    Definitely way better than most hotels I would have expected to find in Bakersfield. This hotel is your standard Four Points design, which isn't fancy but it gets the job done. Comfy mattresses (a plus in my book) and friendly staff.

    However, I'm not a fan of hotels with multiple buildings, and the building we were in was completely opposite the lobby. That was kind of a pain. Also, our rooms were on the second floor and there's no elevator. Obviously, it's just one floor and we survived, but it's worth noting.

    If I ever had to stay in Bako again, I'd still consider staying here. It wasn't the best, but it definitely wasn't the worst! :)

    First off we stayed at this hotel last year. Mind you it was Bakersfield in July, so it was very hot. When we came back to our room that afternoon we realized that the air conditioner was not working. We called front desk and instead of putting us in another room they sent a repairman.  The repairman couldn't fix it that night, and we slept in a very hot uncomfortable room. To make it up to us they said that they would credit us a night for a future visit. Now a year later we decide to stay here because we need 3 nights and remember that we have one free. We remind the hotel staff upon check in that we have a night free they say thats fine. We get to the room and are alarmed to see a big wad of toliet paper covered in food on our bathroom floor. Also a wash cloth that has make up smeared all over it. We call front desk and they upgrade us. Upon our second night we receive  a check out statement. We had made reservations for 3 nights over six months ago. They did this to our friends staying in another room as well. When both my husband and friend went to tell them the problem, the front desk blamed us for the mistake. What happens to the customer is always right? At that time my husband reminds them about our free room. They say they remember and that it is fine. So the third day comes and we receive our check out statement. We are charged for 3 nights! I couldn't believe it. Here we have reminded them several times and they won't honor it. They said "we gave you points to work towards and a free room".So we left paying for 3 rooms, even though we budgeted for 2 because we were promised a free room. They not only were an unclean hotel, but don't hold up to their word. We will never stay there again, and will not recommend any of our friends and family to stay there. Horrible experience.

    I stayed at this hotel one night for an event happening at the hotel. The rooms are clean enough, and spacious. The check-in process took quite a while, but the guy was very apologetic. Once in our room we realized we didn't have a full supply of towels. We called the front desk and made a request for "bath towels and washcloths". We then left to go to SWEET SURRENDER (yum! See review) and upon our return saw we had a stack of bath towels and hand towels. NO WASHCLOTHS.

    We called the front desk and requested them again. They never came. Not that night and not the next day.

    We didn't experience the thin walls as mentioned in other reviews, but noticed most of the noise came from the door to the hallway. But what do you expect!? You're in a hotel with several other people.

    I would stay at other hotels over this one when in Bakersfield....specifically the Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites.

    Purchased this room for a night on Priceline, which apparently makes the booking less valued.  I called 4 days before to secure 2 beds instead of one which they kindly agreed to do, until I got there and they said they couldn't anymore because others had been put in there (did I mention I called 4 days before?).  Then the AC didnt work, which really was not awesome when the outside temp was over 100 during the day, the light next to the bed sparked, yes sparked, and the pool had lots of hair and sooo many bugs.  Overall, it was not worth the Priceline price and definitely not worth full price!

    I read all the other reviews before I picked my star total.  My wife and I came here as part of her strange quest for spg platinum status, i was just along for the steak at Buck Owens crystal palace.

    We did not have bed bugs.  Our room was large- waayyy larger then normal and we got "upgraded" out of the handicapped room.

    The pool/hot tub area looked like a living hell- filled with screaming children- like- packed- packed into both the pool and hot tub, but we got a good night's sleep out of the place and the price was reasonable.

    The rooms are clean and spacious. Very large pool and jacuzzi. I was a little disappointed at check in. My prior night I had received a discount for being a local but when I came back a second night the discount was not honored. Lots of places in walking distance to eat at.

    I have spent over six months of my life at this hotel over the past decade, so I guess I am qualified to review it.  This is a multi-building, two story hotel with beautifully landscaped grounds, a large fountain, creek, and nice pool area with hot tub.  

    The rooms were renovated in the last two years.  Beds are terrific, rooms are very large, furniture is comfortable, good conditions for working.  The property is located far enough from the freeway to make it a very quiet, serene environment and much more comfortable than the newer hotels off Rosedale Hwy to the north.

    Free wifi is top notch.  The Bistro is an excellent restaurant at the front of the property; there are numerous other quality dining opportunities within walking distance on California Ave.

    My Boyfriend and I checked into this hotel and so did...

    a whole lotta bed bugs.

    I got bit within seconds after I slipped into bed. At first I thought it was something prickly in bed but my friend who stayed in the room near us also got bit. And he's got proof on his body too.

    Two bites for me and two bites for him. Those bed bugs sure were hungry.

    Oh, and the complimentary toiletries by the a company called "clean" did not match its product descriptions. It smelled like anything but "clean". I thought it resembled the smell of dirty musky water.

    Two strikes already.

    My third complaint is my alarm clock this morning. At around 10am while we were still snoozing we woke up to the sounds of our next door neighbor clanking their spoons on their cereal bowls as they were watching cartoons on the television and the mom yelling at her kid. It's like that wall in-between us didn't even exist. Those paper thin walls really needs an upgrade. I am not a fan of human alarm clocks.

    Yeah, four points...

    Three strikes and you are out.

    1 star (and that's being nice).

    This is purely from a business traveler stand point.  If you are in Bakersfield on business presumably you had to drive a long way to get there.  For me 5 hours from San Francisco.  So this hotel had exactly what I needed - clean comfortable room and bed, free wi fi that worked well,  big flat screen TV, free printer in lobby and most important good room service.  Their restaurant The Bistro is good, not great....but hell it comes to your room.  Also, it's the same prices as the restaurant so you don't have to worry about the expense as much.  They only charge $1.50 for delivery.  I had a terrible head cold and the waiter even delivered a hot whiskey with lemon to me.  That almost got them 5 stars.  
    AAA Rate = $101.

    Who doesn't love a mini-oil drill pumping away in the parking lot of an above average hotel? Oh Bakersfield, you should be added to the list of Wonders of the World!

    Last time I was in town, I stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott ( bit.ly/gChRbx ) and didn't think the cost was worth the (lack there of) benefits. Our meeting are always held at Valley HQ Executive Offices, so Four Points was definitely uber close, which is much appreciated for a 9:30AM meeting. Another thing that scored brownie points with me was having restaurants around the hotel that we could go to without having a car. My supervisor yelped what was around and found out there was a small plaza with a few options. Though it was a brisk night in Bakersfield, the 5-10 minute walk wasn't bad at all. The plaza had Thai food, which we finally decided upon ( bit.ly/e8u4pf ), as well as Indian, sushi and pho----who would've thought that Bakersfield would be so diverse with Asian cuisine options!

    Anywho... more about the hotel! Check-in was kinda slow; there were 3 of us and no one else was in the lobby at 7PM. He asked us if we wanted a 1st floor or 2nd floor room and without thinking we said we were fine with whatever----had we known that there were no elevators, we would've taken back our answer. Maybe we're a little lazy but c'mon! Even a 2-story building should have one because lugging a carry-on suitcase is not fun!

    We all got a standard King room and my first impression of stepping foot into my room was "wow, I could do cartwheels in here!" The blue decor was soothing, but I kind of felt like I was on a cruise as it kinda looked nautical. The furniture looked very IKEA; even the lobby area looked like a living room display plucked out from a store. As you can see by the photo of the bathroom I posted, it's kinda got that Swedish minimalistic look to it----how chic! I was thoroughly amused by the platter of toiletries; very cute verbiage. The towels here, like most hotels, were thin and rough but did its job. The shower head was a little difficult to figure out...there was a little button that you had to pull out underneath the knob you use to control the temperature----took a few minutes but finally got the water to go up to the shower head. The water pressure was great and the water heated up quickly.

    I booked our rooms via Expedia and was able to pay $93 + fees per room for one night, which was roughly $20 cheaper than what I had paid for for Courtyard the last time we were in town. I felt comfy in my room for only having to be in there for less than 12 hours. My colleagues all slept well. I slept well too, but I wish the 4 pillows provided had a bit more substance in them because I felt like I was sinking the whole time I tried to fall asleep. Oh well, you win some, you lose some. If I can book rooms again for under $100 next time, we will definitely be staying here again!

    Things that goes bumping in the night isn't always ghosts.
    Especially when the walls are so thin, and the moans aren't from a ghost but from people in the heat of passion that makes a terrible sleepless night... especially for travelers.

    You can tell that this is was a Motel conversion as the cars are literally next to the rooms.  Thus anyone coming and going can also be heard.

    In addition, the cockroach I found and showed the Manager on Duty was also rather un-pleasant.  

    The staff was friendly and offered me a refund.  This is the only reason this place doesn't deserve a 1 star.

    Okay - so I am rating this by "Bakersfield" standards.  I used to live here, so I know what BFLD has (and doesn't have) to offer....

    Passing through -  needed a place to stay.  Wanted something more on the "nicer" side.  Went to hotels.com , looked on their site, and saw the Four Points Sheraton.  I looked at a few pictures, looked at the location (in the "good" part of Bakersfield) and booked it right away.  

    This hotel is right off of the 99 freeway, and about .5 miles from the 58.  So proximity to major freeways is great.

    My Price?  Friday Night?  One Night's Stay?  $78.99 (woo-hoo)

    "The Bistro" served breakfast starting at 6:30.  Full breakfast menu plus a buffet.  The hotel itself offers free coffee downstairs (and nice big sized cups) for free.

    I am speechless. This place is a dump with personal offense added.  I have complained and will complain again to Starwood.  Don't waste your points on this place.

    2. Bath has small toilet, loose shower head, hole rusted in bottom of bath tub.
    3. Cottage cheese ceilings.
    4. Chipped stucco, rotted wood, rotted exterior doors, pavement like baja...yada ya.
    5. Pool area has about 30 years of age.  Chipped concrete, empty clay planter pots, dirty.  C'mon in folks!
    6. Wheel grandma into "The Bistro" restaurant at 85 years old and no shit they will ask for her I.D.

    I am a veteran traveler and this place is like a trailer park with a Sheraton name.  Stay anywhere but here and therefore send a message to the pillaging and raping owners.  Stop the income stream.

    The bed bug stories are true. It's my second night here and I've been bitten on my arms, hands, and feet. The people at the front desk are pleasant but the room service was terrible. They were an hour late and when we called they said it was our fault and refused to honor their "30 minutes or its free" guaranteed. They were quite rude about it.

    They don't accept debit cards for incidentals at check in and fail to disclose prior to reservation. After a good deal of communication with Customer Care, they contacted the General Manager and clarified that they do accept Debit Cards as long as they are not prepaid (understandable). The offered to retrain their staff to follow the procedure properly so that in the future consumers like myself won't run into the same issue. Hence, I've upgraded them from a 1 to a 3 star.

    I got a priceline deal for this place ($70 +taxes= ~80) last minute after being stranded in Bakersfield due to freeway closure.

    The hotel was clean, the staff nice, and the rooms were recently renovated. The hotel caters to the business crowd and provides a minifridge with microwave and coffee maker, a great amenity for keeping leftovers and warming up breakfast! They also had free Seattle's Best coffee in the lobby in the mornings, plus there's a computer with free Internet in the lobby for guest use also (score if you're still in the dark ages like me without Internet on your phone. In addition, it has a lovely small gym (about 2 elliptical and 2 treadmills, a bike,a weight set) with a water cooler which is very convenient.

    Note that there is NO ELEVATOR (but it's only a two story building) and the hotel is set up in a courtyard fashion, so you may have to walk outside and out of the main building to get to your room)

    In town for the Bakersfield Business Conference, we stayed at a familiar spot hoping for dependable service and quality.

    The pros:
    Rooms did not have bedbugs. (I checked. You're welcome.)
    Maid service was excellent
    TV worked
    My view was of the pool
    Wakeup call was timely

    Cons:
    They did not put our party together as requested and confirmed. Which wasn't so bad as I was happy to have some privacy in the next building.
    Apparently checking in and out was a little aggrivating.

    Honestly, it was a hotel room. As long as I don't wake up with bugs and have the basic amenities, I'm quite happy with it. My only wish is that they featured other restaurants in the area that would be better eats than that awful restaurant next door, Bistro. Yuck. If you go there, I hope you get good service and food bc we did not.

    I was recently traveling for business, and this hotel was perfectly sufficient.  The bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean.  The towels were rough and I swear that the shampoo and the body wash were the exact same liquid (they had them in dispensers in the shower).  The walls were extremely thin, but as no one was terribly loud, it was ok.  Shanell at the front desk was always very nice and helpful... I would definitely come back here for business (but maybe not for pleasure).

    We often stay at Four Points by Sheraton in Bakersfield and have never been disappointed.  The rooms are large, very clean and comfortable.  We especially like the rooms in the 500 bldg because they're near the fountains.  The ONLY reason we're not giving the motel '5' stars is because on our last night stay (Oct 1st) we could hear clearly EVERY word our neighbors were saying.  Our room had a connecting door and that may have been part of the problem.  This has never happened before and we don't expect it to happen again.  The front desk switch us to a much quieter room on the same floor. Not to much of a hassle.  

    The gardens, pool and sitting areas are delightful and very clean!  They even have a bin near the pool with extra dry towels and a bin to place your wet ones.  

    Reception is friendly and helpful.  The on site Bistro restaurant is open everyday for breakfast at 6:30am.  They are also open to serve lunches and dinners on weekdays.  The food is good, the prices average.  If you want a quick bite to eat ..nothing fancy, this is your place.

    I just had a horrible experience during my stay. I asked a housekeeper for some extra towels and noticed she was feeling sick. I asked her if she was ok and she said she was. Long story short she shared with me how awful her and the other housekeepers are treated. Working conditions are horrible, they are degraded and abused. I would really encourage all of you yelpers to discontinue your stays in this hotel. The housekeeper was so frightened of me complaining to the company, she shared that Tracy who is apparently in charge would retaliate. She shared that this supervisor is ruthless, does not care about anything but making himself look good. Going as far intimidating and taking no considerations with his employees.

    We stay at this hotel twice a year every year.   However, they still don't remember us.  Probably because the front desk staff is always different.  Poor customer service.  Had to check to see if I was "lying" about not having room cleaned.  Put me on hold to check maids log, like I would make that up.  Rooms haven't been upgraded and No Elevator!  Ask for ground floor if you need it and cross your fingers you get it.  Wish the hotel was more like the attached restaurant.  Now THEY get it right!

    We stayed here a few times over the last 13 years. Four Points by Sheraton has been consistent in everything since our first visit:

    1. Clean
    2. Quiet
    3. Comfortable beds
    4. Good price
    5. Beautiful landscaping
    6. Generally, everything in the rooms has been maintained in like-new condition. (although this is an older hotel, so it has been renovated a few times)
    7. Located in a better area of town than the hotels off Rosedale Hwy.

    Not a luxury experience, just the basics. Keep in mind, I'm not picky -- I don't need a full kitchenette or monster flatscreen tvs to be happy. My kids really had fun here when they were little, exploring the artificial stream and climbing on all the rocks. I think it is worth it to request a ground floor room with a courtyard view just because it is so nice to see and to be able to step out into the pretty area.

    Knock off a star for a pathetic continental breakfast in the lobby and the fact that they no longer allow dogs. We'd still be using FPS on our many visits to Bakershate, if not for that.

    Excellent hotel.  Friendly Staff.  Tracey, the manager, has blessed the establishment with a bright, kind, and friendly manner.   The staff are helpful and friendly. The pool is large and fun.  The beds are marvelous.  Good coffee is ready early in the morning.  The restaurant is good for social or business meals and serves great salmon.  The rooms are spacious with large desks for those of us needed to spread out our work and be productive.  The two story design makes for a quiet stay with easy room access form your vehicle.

    I used to stay here about six years when I would come to Bakersfield on business from Arizona and I recently spent two weeks at this hotel when I came down from Sacramento for my new job.

    Check in was fast and easy and the front desk staff was very friendly and helpful when I dealt with them.

    The rooms are nice and big and look like they have been redone since the last time I was here. You get a flat screen television with basic cable, Showtime and bunch of pay-per-view movie options which I ignored. I do wish they had HBO rather than Showtime, but that is just my personal preference and I wasn't there to watch TV.

    The beds are comfortable, the sitting chair was nice although it could use an ottoman and the desk gives you plenty of workspace. Many of the rooms also include a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker which is good when you're there for a week and want to get some snacks.

    The pool and hot tub area is pretty standard, but has a fair amount of seating and the hotel even has a Tuesday night barbecue by the pool during the summer with free hot dogs, PBR beer and boxed wine.

    The exercise room is nice and large with several treadmills, elliptical trainers and free weights.

    My rate included free breakfast at the hotel restaurant, The Bistro. It looked to me like that restaurant had been remodeled since my last visit in 2005. While service was a little slow, the employees were friendly and by the end of the second week, they clearly recognized me and knew how I wanted my eggs (overeasy) and that I was going to have bacon and orange juice as well.

    While I haven't tried any other hotels in Bakersfield, I see no need to do so when the Four Points Hotel provides everything you need.

    I am sitting in bed at this hotel while writing the review.  I was STUNNED to see the bed bug horror stories and a couple of other bad reviews.  I will admist from the outside it doesn't look like much and I hate the exterior stairs which was a hassle with a bad knee and bags but aside from that, it's not at all bad.  My room is large and clean.  

    I think the decorator should be shot (and the one that did "Bistro" restaurant too).  Ikea meets country?

    That being said it's very fucntional.  The best part is the desk whch is large and has multiple plug ins.  They opted not for a dresser but an ikea looking thing with canfas boxes.  OK.  Canvas is NOT something you want to use for shared storage  It can't be cleaned and fleas, etc would like it so while it looks interesting, nope.  Also, the headboard is woven fabrics kind of like nylon ribbons used to make outdoor furniture.  Not only does it just not work, it's also something that has to be difficult to clean and a great place for critters to live.  Also, hotels are all going to white one white so I am surprised that what is clearly a new decorated room still has a bedspread!  

    Everything in the room seems to be almost brand new so I think buidling 400 got a remodel.   Nice to have fridge, microwave, coffee, flast screen TV (not particularly large but sufficient)  

    One thing I really like is they thought about little things.  There's a small shelf right by the front door with a couple of hooks...great for car keys, room keys, etc.  Full size blow dryer in bathroom and multiple extra hooks for things like my hang-up make-up holder.

    ... and now I hear a loud child running down the hall so I wonder if anyone occupies the room next door and how they feel about an insomniac that needs TV to fall asleep!

    In Summary, probably could be noisy but I haven't experienced much yet except someone's kid in the hall.  Clean, remodeled room.  Good ergonomics.  Very large room.   Fast check in.  Friendly staff.

    I got a great deal on expedia so as long as I don't have a bedbug or flea problem or it gets extremely noisy, I think it's a good value.

    It's nice but how the hell can you not have a fridge or a microwave in some of the rooms!! I lived here for a week, for a business trip and wanted to just be able to buy something from the store and put it in the fridge then just use my microwave, but I couldn't even do that!! So I would always have to walk out of my room and go use the one in the front lobby!! Which was a big headache, because I would always come home late from work. Not the best place to be, especially for the money we pay to stay here. Yeah free coffee, but I don't drink it. I would've traded that coffee maker for a fridge and a microwave. I'll be in Bakersfield for another three weeks and I will be checked out by Friday and onto a cheaper and better hotel that will have a fridge and microwave!!!

    We arrived here after nearly 4 weeks of being on the move.  We were sweaty, tired, and had experienced many different grades of hotel/motel accommodations over that month.   Bakersfield's temp was over 100 and muggy.  This hotel was a little oasis in an otherwise unremarkable town known for its dust and oil drilling.

    The room, a really nice, extra spacious room, and happily well air-conditioned.  A huge jug of ice water with lemon slices was next to the check in desk.  The grounds were lovely  at night and the pool big and inviting.  The parking area was well lighted.  Free WiFi.  The only complaint, the beds were really firm.  We slept pretty well, anyway. No bed bugs.

    I'll not explain why, but after a small snafu, the hotel clerk instantly offered to move us, discount our room, or comp us a breakfast, apologizing profusely.   We really appreciated the sincere concern and attention to immediate customer satisfaction.

    We felt very well taken care of and would hope a Priceline bid would put us here again should we need lodging in Bakersfield.  I mention that because not only was this one of the nicest, most wonderful rooms our entire 4-week trip, we got it for a steal.

    I did not stay at the hotel. I was given a tour, as I was in the process of arranging a reservation for several rooms for business. I was shown the deluxe room. It was nice and roomy. The colors are very Nautical. The bathroom was pretty spacey too. They have a nice long table with a built in power data center. The room also comes with a microwave, coffee maker, and mini-fridge. There was also a sliding glass door and your own little patio facing the courtyard with a water fountain. I dined at the Bistro for Lunch and tried the Sauteed Salmon ($17). The veggies, green beans, carrots, zucchini, were very good. The mashed potatoes were ok. The salmon was a bit too salty for me. Plus, there was this tomatoe sauce poured all over the salmon that, I think had or tasted like it had capers (I don't like capers). It was very salty. I ended up pushing the sauce off my salmon because it was just way too much. Yummy bread rolls. Overall, this is not a bad place to stay and dine. I gave it 3 stars because it is a little dated and could use a rennovation. Oh, there's a pool on grounds that is heated 24/7. So if you're coming to Bako, this is a good spot to stay. They said there were discussing possible pet-friendly rooms btw.

    This hotel is great so far.   I haven't been to the bar but the rooms are clean and large, well laid out.   I love the fact that they have dispensers in the shower with bath soap, shampoo and conditioner.  :-)  

    Lots of parking.  Free wifi.

    Had to drag bags up the stairs to room on the second floor. No one available to help. Desk clerk seemed bored with her job. Hall and room carpeting full of stains. 'Creeped' me out. Also stains on the headboards. Windows so dirty we could see out, however I asked room attendant, Brandy if they could be washed. She took care of having them rinsed. Lovely young lady. Pool and fire pit nice. The hotel seem 'tired'. Needs an uplift.

    I usually stay here when visiting friends & family in Bakersfield, so have been here a half dozen or so times over the last five years.  While it's a clean place, the lack of elevators are a big issue.  And a lot of partiers stay here...so if you want a good night's sleep around a holiday, be careful which room you choose.  My most recent experience with this hotel was today.  I had a reservation for next week for a family visit.  But I needed to cancel it.  You'd think that a cancellation *four* days in advance would be okay...yes?  Well, no.  Their policy is that once you make a reservation, no matter how early you cancel they charge you a full day.  I'll stay elsewhere from now on.  This is just gouging.

    Booked through Hotwire so the room was paid for in advance.  Arrived late only to be told that the two queen beds I had requested were gone and all they had was a king.  My adult daughter had to sleep on the floor because they don't have rollaways.  The gentleman who checked me in could have cared less and stated there were no such requests in the computer.  Went to our room and called Hotwire.  They had everything documented, including the request for the double bed.  They also had the name of the woman they spoke to.  They spoke to the hotel, where the front night person again said they had nothing in they're records.  Hotwire was very helpful.  Four points could have cared less.  Have stayed there before with no problem.  It's just not very fun to get somewhere at 1 am after driving 6 hours to problems that the staff doesn't care about.

    I came to the Bakersfield for my sons baseball tournament. Everyone on our team was given a different rate, before coming we called and were told that they would change our rate on check in. When we got here the reservation people were very rude to us and refused. To make the stay worse, they refused to give me a roll away even though their website says they would. The room is large enough to accommodate a roll away and then some. The room is not that terrible but the beds are really uncomfortable.

    I had stayed at other Starwood hotels in San Diego so maybe my expectations of the Four Points were unrealistic considering  this is in Bakersfield. I was very unimpressed and since I checked in late and was only staying for one night, I didn't have much choice.

    The rooms are fairly big and I can't complain about the customer service and the landscaping is nice. Upon checking in, I dropped my things off and saw that the rooms need updating.  The decor was drab and outdated in the rooms. There was a rollaway cot in the room that I didn't ask for.  The bathroom tiles had grout and I found what appeared to be a pubic hair in the tub.  I was too grossed out to use the shower and it looked like whoever cleaned it didn't do a good job.  Since I had a 3 hour drive home, I waited to go home and shower.  I feel like I had overpaid for what I got.  I don't recommend staying here.

    The patio rooms and grounds are what bring me back to this hotel. Some of the rooms are very dated, but they are large and comfortable. Being able to finish the day out on a private patio overlooking the landscaped grounds will soothe any soul.

    Being walking distance from the Bistro restaurant is a huge plus too.

    I would give 4 stars, but they have let the gym go completely downhill from what it once was.

    This place is just okay. Clean enough but beds are not comfortable. The very worst part is the paper thin walls. Every time we've stayed here there is a loud party or a hooker in the next room. Not even kidding. So so loud. I much prefer the Hampton Inn for a more restful and comfortable place to stay.  This is never my first choice.

    This place is a  disappointment and disgrace to the Sheraton brand.   It is rated as a 3 1/2 star hotel.  I would give it 2 1/2 or 3 stars at best.  

    It comes across like a converted Best Western or Super 8.  It is clean I will give it that.  However, everything is cheap low end, plastic etc..    For example, when I am at a 3 1/2 star hotel I expect there to be real glasses in the room.  Here you will find cheap plastic throw away clear solo type cups wrapped in plastic. Like what you would get a Motel 8.   The bathtub / shower looked as though it had been scoured with steel wool, scratched up and old looking.   I could go on but you get the idea.

    This place reminds me of the saying about putting lipstick on a pig.  It's still a pig.  

    The hotel is made up of several single story  buildings some with a multiple of wings.  Parking is spread out throughout the complex and tends to be dark and a little unsettling.  The "we are not responsible for items left in your car" sign didn't help.  However, I realize most places have such disclaimers now days.

    I have stayed at much nicer 3 1/2 star hotels in Bakersfield and would far rather stay there  than here are the Four Points by Sheraton.  

    That said, I will not be returning to this hotel.

    I did notice that the hotel management appears to read and reply to this reviews.  I take that as a positive and hopeful sign that they are concerned and will be taking comments to heart in an effort to improve the location.

    UPDATE: Shanell (their Operations Manager LOL) let me know she was not charging me $200 for dogs but now she is charging me $200 for smoking in the room. I don't smoke.  And when I asked for proof, she said she would email it to me. I have yet to receive any proof via email. Visa has already given me my money back, so it is the principle now. You get what you pay for, and here you get a cheap room maintained by ghetto, illiterate, uneducated individuals. Bottom Line, do not stay here. Do not support these type of people who blatantly lie.

    So, to my review:

    The only thing that warrants a star is the pretty landscaping they have through out the property. This is me being nice. Their lawn has a better manicure then their front desk clerk. Decor is wak. Restaurant is gross AF. Free parking and free wifi. Hard beds. Our bathroom had no soap and when we asked for some we were ignored.

    In my opinion, I feel they are ignorant to the art of customer service.
    Amy and Patricia deceitfully played games with me and my sisters hypoallergenic dogs. My family and I rented a room while my sister was in labor (yay!) and we were watching her two hypoallergenic dogs, who we brought with us into the hotel hallway on a leash. We rented our room for one evening but occupied the room for less then four hours, and had the dogs with us outside the room on the property, on leashes for 45 minutes total. Patricia said it was fine! Little did we know, we would check out and have a 200 dollar cleaning fee! For what? To clean your lawn? Your sidewalks? Your stairs?

    You could of said it is ok if the dogs are here but we will charge you 200 bucks, but no, Patricia and Amy, you said it was "fine!" I was essentially fined for walking a dog on a leash in their parking lot. Lame AF. We left at 4 PM. My family nor any dogs slept here!

    Do not stay here if you are expecting accomodating service as a SPG platinum member. Try the Marriott or Hotel Padre for your stays in Bakersfield.

    This is a very good "business motel."  The hotel is new, clean, well kept and I had a good steak at the restaurant.  Good, quiet location in a business type area, but close to shopping.  My only complaints are the lack of elevators in the buildings and the lack of refrigerators in the rooms.  Otherwise, you really cannot go wrong.

    Yelp!  I wish I would have read over the reviews prior to booking as is my usual practice.  If I had, I would have kept searching for something with better reviews instead of just "meh" reviews.  Now I have to give a meh review.

    Pros: clean-ish, very large room, beds were fine, staff was friendly, plenty of free parking, pretty amazing water pressure.

    Cons: the pool and jacuzzi were closed for renovation (crazy disappointed because I had been looking forward to that but they were only closed the days I was there),  no fridge in the room, A/C was temperamental, no elevator, and the walls are super thin so I could hear my neighbor and his lady friend screaming at each other in the middle of the night because he had failed to let her in).

    Overall, not what I expected for $125/night.  Lesson learned.

    This is just an average, 3 star hotel. Not anything crazy special. Just kind of "meh." Stayed here for work and it was fine.

    Pros: Staff was very nice, it was super clean, and the beds were comfortable. It was quiet for the most part (but could tell the walls were thin. I think there just wasn't a lot of noise). The pool looked nice. It's in the middle of the complex.

    Cons: The light in my bathroom flickered like a strobe light. The lightening in general was pretty awful in the bathroom. Also, I couldn't order any movies on the TV and my TV kept flickering. May have been a bad cable connection. I let the front desk know and they were very responsive. Also, beware there is no elevator. If you don't want to lug your stuff upstairs in the heat, just ask for a first floor room.

    The Sheraton Four Points Bakersfield is a good mid-range hotel. The rooms are pretty modern and have comfy beds and linens. In the courtyard is a nice pool and hot tub and lots of pool towels and we really enjoyed swimming under the stars. It was refreshing after a long day in the sun at Six Flags. The front desk service was very friendly and we got upgraded for free!

    We picked this hotel because of its "proximity" to Sequoia. It was still at least 1 1/2 hours away from the big trees. This place seemed empty when we arrived. The rooms are standard. At least it did not smell dirty or musty or moldy. The pool area was nice to relax. If we were in the area again, I would not mind staying here again. People who worked here were friendly. The security guard was also really nice.

    This hotel is MUCH better than the DoubleTree down the street, but it's still nothing special. The rooms smell funny and the property is badly in the need of renovation.

    The hotel was recommended to us here in Canada. Location and service was excellent. Close to a lot of attractions and shopping. Four Points people were pleasant and helpful.

    My employer booked me a room here for a business trip.  

    Atmosphere: beautiful and elegant...modern decor, lovely gardens and a really nice pool.  The rooms are a good size, with clean modern decor and the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in.  

    The location  is also excellent- full of shops and eateries.  

    Only reason I give this place four stars is because they don't serve a continental breakfast, nor provide in suite fridges.

    There is a place in Nova Scotia called Bedford. I've always felt bad for Bedford as it has very little happening, is not at all in Halifax (despite what its inhabitants might lead you to believe) and has a slogan that appears to be mocking it: Bedford: A traditional stopping place.

    What does that even mean Bedford? What!? It's like 20 minutes outside of the city, so if you're on a road trip you probably aren't ready for a stop, and though I love The Chicken Burger and that one plant store as much as the next guy, I just don't get it. OK. This is beyond a digression, I'm reviewing the Four Points Sheraton in Bakersfield, which, deserves the slogan: Bakersfield: A traditional stopping place.

    This is an excellent place to stop and break up the LA to SF drive if you're taking the 5 and not the (much, much longer) scenic route. We started to get antsy for some dinner, rest and possibly a pool break, and as he drove I cruised Kayak, Hotel Tonight and Priceline for a deal that spoke to me. Well Ding Ding Ding! Priceline had a 4 star hotel option for only $75, we blindly chose it and were very pleased with the Four Points!

    Big heated pool, hot tub and fire pit surrounded by rooms with little patios and big cozy beds. All the amenities of a nice California hotel, at motel prices. What more could you ask for? The lady who checked us in was incredibly kind, and wooed us into the Starwood rewards program. Guess what? It's free and it comes with a room upgrade. If you travel for work or play a lot, there is really no harm in joining this rewards program. And since you're checking Yelp, you know that pretty much everywhere it's neat to be elite. Winkity wink.

    The hotel overall was over priced for how run down it is.

    Down falls:
    1.A standard room DOES NOT come with a microwave and fridge!! Be prepared to pay $20 more for a so called upgrade.

    2. The hotel does not offer free breakfast of any kind. Just coffee and tea in the lobby.

    3. Stained curtains, and bet up old furniture they should just do away with.

    Plus:
    1. Body wash, conditioner, and shampoo dispensers in the shower.  

    2.Very comfortable beds!!

    Overall No I would not stay here again. Very disappointed

    I booked 3rd party so you're always taking a chance.  Lucky for me, I got the Four Points!  Upon check in (I think his name is Jose), he was friendly & receptive.  He even helped me sign up to their club brand & hooked me up with a nice room.  
    My room had a fridge and a stove.  The room was spacious.  We had a patio that overlooked some mini stream.  Very peaceful.  Good water pressure in the bathroom.  They had these weird dispensers on the wall bolted into the shower.  My bedding was clean, no bugs...
    My only complaint would be the TV.  There were no HDMI hook ups.  So for my son to hook up his Playstation, we needed to get other wires.  A lot of hotels are doing that now.  Wi - fi was free with decent speed.  
    I would definitely stay here again.  The staff checking in and out were pleasant....oh I forgot the hotel is in a good location.  You can walk to a variety of restaurants, gas station, cvs, stores....very good location & the price was decent.  I would recommend!
