definately a great place to stay. not too far from the freeway. Very welcoming and very quiet rooms because there is a very busy street outside.  Would definately stay here again if I had to.

We stayed here on a weeknight last week, and found it delightful.  Nice, big room with a great bed and T.V.  And the morning breakfast in the sunny room was delightful (no eggs, but plenty of other stuff).

After checking out of the gross hotel next door (see my review of the Travelodge), we were so happy. We've stayed here before, and will never stray again. The night desk person was helpful in getting us and our 2 small children in to a room as quickly as possible, considering we were a last minute check in at 11 p.m. with no reservation.

Then, the Sat. day desk person was fantastic! He took it upon himself to call the hotel next door and get us our money back!!! That was above and beyond the call of duty.

My only complaint? Bigger coffee cups needed at the breakfast! :-)

Ok for the price. We got a deal for $55 on priceline.
It was clean which is super important. Staff was friendly.

Con: Decor is outdated especially the walls and recliner.
Don't get the very first room by the entrance like we did. The curtains couldn't cover up the extremely bright light shining from the walkway to the entrance. It was annoying but we were too tired to move rooms.

Bedded down as we (wife and 2 small kids) drove home on a christmas road trip to Las VEgas-Hoover Dam-Grand Canyon.  After a 400 mile drive we were tired and hungry.

This Hampton is one of the best I've stayed in.  Looks and feels really new.  The staff - a lady from that lived both here in the US and Guatemala was super friendly.  She is the only hotel person that acknowledged me as i stood in line (just one person ahead of me) with a smile and siad that she'll be right with me.  I have not received that kind of courtesey from much better hotels.

Everything in this place looks new.  Bath tub looks great; one of a very few places that i would consider using.

To top it off it had a big flat panel TV to boot.  What more can i ask for $107 including taxes?  For that price i even splurged on an in-room movie for the kids.

The only reason i took a star away is because it is not near any restaurant (sorry, Danny's is not one, even though it is right next to the hotel) so if you are checking in after 5 you should find a place to eat before hand as this Hampton is kind of near the northern edge of Bakersfield right next to Hwy 99.

I'll always consider staying here in the future.

Good location. Clean. Helpful staff. AC unit smelled a little funny. Fitness center was sad.
Ifyou are looking for a clean hotel that is well located from the hiway this is a good deal.  Breakfast is good and makes getting out in the morning very convenient.  Computer access is also nice.

I came here on my way home from my Sequoia National Park road trip.  As is my cheap-skate tradition, I stopped at the hotel next door to check rates, and then at this one.  This one was cheaper by a few dollars, so I decided to stay here. I paid the girl at the front desk and went up to my room. The room was spacious, clean, and had alot of amenities I don't even have in my own home. Since I was only there for the one night, I didn't use many of the items they had. The bed was comfortable, My game-boy liked the free wi-fi and the cable TV was entertaining. I watched a Law & Order marathon and ordered a pizza from the local pizza joint advertised in the "what's around here" binder on the desk.  It was pretty good. In the morning I left, and paid my $88.00(ish)  Much to my dismay, as I traveled home I discovered that a mere 4 miles down the highway, there was a Motel 6 with rates of $37.00 a night. Dangit. Oh well. This place was very nice, and very good, but a tad pricey for my meager budget. Next time I'll be goin to Motel 6 for half the price.

Nice Hotel. The staff was very friendly. They offered us chocolate chip cookies as we checked in. They were not homemade, but were very good. The room including the bathroom was clean. They had a choice of soft or firm pillows and a nice recliner to sit in.

The breakfast was good the next morning. They had fresh fruit, eggs, bacon, waffles, cereal, yogurt, and even biscuits and gravy. Nice!

The room was comfy. The front desk staff is disinterested and careless. Don't rely on the free shuttle to the airport they they say they have. If the owner "has a meeting," they take it and you're SOL. Victoria at the front desk needs customer service training ASAP.

There are many things that could be said for this place. There is one lady that works the front desk that is super nice, but all the other ones that I have came across are both unwelcoming and fake. The rooms are small, but clean considering that it is Bakersfield. Security was ghetto, they need to hire someone more presentable. Rooms are overpriced. But wherever you go that inflates the price, the clientele tends to be easier to get along with. Everyone that I saw staying here on my trip were old people, and they don't cause any trouble.

While during a business trip I spent the night at the Hampton Inn.  The room was clean  and  the staff was nice. The free breakfast was excellent. 2 issues I had , the front desk called 2 times to make sure my room was ok and the mini refrigerator ( room ) was noisy . The overall stay was good.

For the reviewer who said there are no restaurants around - wrong location, I think. This one has a Chinese buffet next door as well as fast food across the street and if you drive West (?) down California ave a bit there are other places like Mimi's cafe.

Have stayed here at least 4-5 times, as my sister lives in town and I've visited often. Hotels in Bakersfield are either great or terrible, this is one of the great ones. It's no 5 star fancy-shmancy hotel, but it serves it's purpose well.

Every time I have stayed there the ladies at the front desk have been nothing but nice and accommodating from extra mints, cookies, snacks, water bottles, etc... They have toiletries like toothbrushes and paste also at your disposal.

I have stayed in 3 different rooms on the first floor only and the quality has been consistent. I LOVE THE BEDS. Beds are super fluffy and comfortable... you will not want to wake up in the morning!

Breakfast is great, I believe it's open from 6AM -10AM... plenty of time to get to the dining area and enjoy some of the grub. Personally, I can't spend  the night at this location without eating the egg and cheese omelets and waffles in the morning. LOL, just thinking about it makes my mouth water... :/ They also have standard items like yogurt, cereal, coffee, juices, eggs, etc. Good stuff.

Pricing is pretty consistent with other hotels in the area but I feel like it could be less expensive. At times I have paid around $100 a night and at others around $70 ... so it all depends on when you go.

There is security in the building who also patrols outside so I felt ok there even as a single traveling woman with 2 kids.

The only minus I can think of -the lights outside your room windows. I like total darkness when I sleep and the light coming in from the outside/garden lamps does come in even with the shades pulled. I fixed this by using chairs in the room to make it a bit darker, but if this is an issue maybe get a room on the upper floors.

Being a fan of the Hilton chain, I usually look for one of their hotels when we travel.  This Hampton Inn is located on a busy street with several other cheaper hotels, but we opted to stay here because of all the great reviews it received on Trip Advisor.  First we called while on the road and were quoted a rate of $89/night + tax.  I went online and booked a reservation at HIlton.com for $80/night + tax.  When we arrived the desk clerk, BIlly, asked if we had a AAA card.  We told him we already used it for an online discount, but he found it didn't give us the special June AAA discount of $71/night.  He adjusted our rate and put us into a lovely non-smoking King suite that was spacious and quite lovely.  Hello Manager - Give Billy a raise!!!

The bed was really comfy with thick sheets and lots of pillows.  The comforter was cushy with cute little squishy bumps all over it.  There was a mini fridge and microwave too.  Nice touch!  Although the TV wasn't a flat screen, it was clear and new enough that the old-fashioned tubeness didn't bother us.  Free Wi-Fi that was fast was another bonus.  Decent fitness room was centrally located on the third floor.

We've stayed at many hotels in Bakersfield and this one beats them all hands down.  We will definitely bring our business back again.

TIP:  Free hot breakfast served daily from 6-10.

Hampton Inn & Suites is a pretty reliable chain, so they have to work pretty hard to get down to two stars.  What is nice is the beds and pillows are very comfortable and the rooms are spacious.  However, the room is very noisy due to the highway, and more significantly the carpeting in the room has so much hidden dirt that it turned the underside of our feet black just from walking around barefoot.  That's unacceptable---get a vacuum cleaner!  The hot breakfast was mediocre to good--not amazing, but decent.  The place isn't an unmitigated disaster, but it would turn me off to other Hampton Inns if this was my only experience with the chain.

I searched online and found good reviews for this place, so last weekend when I had to go to a family wedding....I gave them a try.

The front desk staff was beyond nice and friendly.  The room was very clean, perfect temp, and comfortable beds.  The parking was ok, and they had overnight security walking around, so I felt comfortable.

The breakfast area was nice and the waffles are amazing!

Would I stay again? Yup....not bad at all here!

Hampton Inns are always "old reliables," and this is no exception. I stayed two nights in a newly remodeled room (the photos on the website are old, they've done a nice remodel to a lot of the rooms, at the time of my visit). This location is great, minutes to lots & lots of eating, shopping, downtown, etc., right smack by the freeway, but you don't hear noise from it in the room. Excellent wi-fi.  They have a really good breakfast spread and you can smuggle some stuff up to your room for later snacking opportunities, as the rooms have fridges & microwaves! Got a hankering for a blueberry muffin at midnight??...done!

BED BUGS!¡!¡!¡ It was an ok stay for the most part. I checked in and they had construction all around it. Rooms looked nice and clean but... The next morning when I woke up I found that I had bed bug bites all on my arms and my feet. Wasn't too happy with that. Complained at the front counter and they reversed the charges. Apparently they never had a problem line this. They were really kind about it and well that just goes to show. Can't trust any beds.

I had a very nice stay. I was particularly impressed with all the extras; HD TV, microwave, fridge, free breakfast, free Internet.

When I stay at more upscale hotels, I rarely get all this, despite paying more.  I guess I'm paying for higher thread count sheets? I don't know.

The location is right off the 99hwy, so the scenery is nothing to write home about.  Also, there are smoking rooms, so when you walk down certain halls it smells like the 80s.

the exercise room is kind of lame; three cardio machine. very cramped. it's on the third floor.

the pool is small and not nice or scenic. it's just by the parking lot and dumpsters.

why four stars? I guess it's that it was real quiet, cheap, great breakfast, nice staff, and all the free stuff not included at Marriott Courtyard or Hilton Garden Inn.

Everything was fine except for the one thing I find intolerable, which is Fox News blaring in the dining room.  No hotel can survive that without turning me off.

Stayed this past Sat/Sun. Conveniently fwy close. Lobby is spacious and inviting. Billy covering the Front desk, is very friendly, personable, informative and efficient. Room was very clean and decorated as good as higher end hotels. Appreciated free WiFi. A/C worked great and quiet. 100-degrees outside, comfortable 72-degrees inside. Beds were sooooo comfortable, I slept in after a long late night. So, I didn't take advantage of complimentary breakfast, but others said it was very good. Checkout was a breeze. I'm now a fan of Hampton Inn.

I am pleasantly surprised to be very happy with this hotel. Fantastic for the money. Hip, stylish, Bfast included was solid. Just as good as $200+ stay at Renaissance Hotel/Marriott.
