My husband and I with two kids stayed here while passing thru on a road trip and were sadly disappointed. We paid the extra $30 for this inn vs the HI on Hughes as this seemed newer. The pool was indoor and reeked of ammonia fumes. We could stay in longer than 15 minutes before our eyes were burning. The baby crib we borrowed was tiny and made from metal that was not ideal for my 6-month old just learning to sit up and crawl. He looked like he was in jail! The light switched were confusing. I hate it when the put the switch on the outside if the bathroom!! I would not stay here again for the $$ u would be better off at the Marriott!

When you are on business, and after a long day looking for a decent hotel can be  - well..a pain in the you know what...I have stayed at a few places in Bakersfield, but I was in the mood to have an ice cold beer and relax amongst other fellow business travelers...I make my way down Marriott Drive, which in a sense is hotel row, close to downtown, when a sign caught my eye!!  Come visit us and have a beer in our new bar!!  - HELLO!  I am there...I walk in to the Holday Inn.....totally transformed, I tell ya, they have gone through a major face lift!!!
I was greeted by very very friendly front desk personnel Lucas and Tiffany and Neysa who is the manager!!
I did have a bit of a problem getting an internet connection in my room, so I ventured down to the lobby.
I made my way to the bar for a beer, and whoa!  It is a full bar with a great restaurant too!
Joni the bartender greeted me with a smile! I ordered a Hef, and it arrived in in an ice cold glass literally with ice on the outside!!!! I felt right at home!!!
So far soo good...Albeeit, I am still in the bar having my second beer!
but I am a frequent traveler and so far I am happy with my stay here!

Overall, the hotel was not bad, but there really wasn't much to crow about either. The only bad thing was the plumbing in the room was backwards -- hot was cold and cold was hot...  Other than that the room was large and clean with the newer color schemes and furniture I've seen at recently remodeled Holiday Inns.

The restaurant is okay, if not somewhat pricey (to be expected) for the type of food that you would usually get for free at a Holiday Inn Express.

I love their rooms: very clean and good size. Staff is helpful and willing to go the extra mile. Downfall: kind of noisy at night and no continental breakfast but there's a restaurant inside the hotel.

Lovely place if you have to stay in Bakersfield.  Go to eat Basque food while you're in the area.  This Holiday Inn has a really good vibe and is clean.  The comforters feel new and that's a big deal for me.  The beds did not feel icky -- whey were comfy and clean.  4th floor rooms are really nice and big.  Flat screet TV -- HBO -- free WIFI -- refrigerator.  Staff is friendly and theres a happy hour in the large dining area.  Lobby is cozy with a fireplace too.

A great brand new hotel.  It literally was built in a place where a large number of hotels have been built.

Staff was really nice at registration and did a great job.  The rooms were very nice and spacious.  No tub, only shower.  Fast free wifi internet.  Nice large LCD TV's.  Air conditioner is a bit loud and the temperature in the room fluctuates really easily.

Overall it was a great room for the price (King room for under $75 a night)

This was a 5 star experience business hotel from start to finish!
I booked via Hotwire at a discount.  Even without, this Holiday Inn was Fab!  I recommend!
Ok, it is not an "Express", but I detest the generic CARB bar that the "Express" has!  Being Hotel style they have a restaurant.
Instead I ordered room service Farmers Breakfast that totaled 13 bucks about that was well worth it! Just in time and beautiful!  What a treat!
The room was completely silent except for trash pickup at 630.  Why do trash service do this?  Are the drivers getting a laugh making all this noise?
The front desk super courteous.
A biggie is that they provide rain forest type greenie coffee.  This is close to my heart since the early 80s.  A trip to Costa Rica in Spring reminded me of how many poisons they spray on Bananas and only imainge the same with Coffee Plantations.
Best is on the way out this morning, they had their rain forest greenie coffee hot and fresh in their lobby!  Double yeah yeah!
If in the area, stay here!  I hope to return later in week!
Miles of smiles

I might just find another reason to go to Bakersfield to stay here.  Although it isn't a super high end hotel, I was still very impressed.  It was the cleanest hotel I've stayed at in a while, maybe because the last hotel I stayed in was in Vegas and maybe because the hotel is brand new.  But none the less...very clean.

The service was great!  I didn't come across any negativity at all.  Everyone from the front desk to the restaurant was polite and welcoming.  I didn't really know who my waitress was because everyone came over to check on us.  Any request I had was handled and I didn't feel like I was putting anyone out.

Some of the perks:

*  Free coffee in the lobby
*  WARM syrup with my cranola pancakes
*  TVs at every booth at the restaurant (my hubby and I actually ate while the kids were distracted by Sponge Bob)
*  Again...Clean
*  OH!  I almost forgot (and this matters to me)...they had my favorite scent for shampoo/conditioner/lotion.  Coconut Lime Verbena from Bath & Body Works...YES...name brand goods.  I was about to call the team I was with and tell them to bag all they had in their rooms - lol...but I didn't).  I always have to bring my own because who knows where some hotels get their soaps.  Also...bought this scent specifically for my wedding so I have sentamental attachment to it.
*  Good discounts
*  Heated indoor pool

So, why not 5 stars.  I woke up and left.  Across the street was a scrap yard.  Not the best location.  If you can close your eyes when you come and go, it would be perfect.

Passing through town and needed a place to stay. We were really thrilled with our experience.

First and foremost: It is clean, clean, clean. I hate staying at hotels because I'm always suspicious of the cleanliness factor. This place is spotless - the lobby, the rooms, everything is shiny, new, and clean.

The service: Lindsey at the front desk checked us in and she was as pleasant, easy-going, and friendly as they come. She also honored the $77 military rate we'd seen online so I was very appreciative. Mary in the restaurant was also very attentive, sweet, and efficient.

We generally avoid hotel restaurants because they are notoriously yuck. But as it was 9:30 p.m. upon our arrival, and Bakersfield seemed to lack a lot of options that served food after 9, we didn't feel like we had a lot of options. The food was surprisingly good. We ordered salads and were shocked at the size. They were HUGE. The quality of the ingredients was very good. We also got the garlic potato chip/fries for an appetizer and they were delicious. Good food at a restaurant?! Get out of here!

Fantastic value, fantastic service, good food. I will definitely stay again if I'm in the area.

I just have to write a review for this company. Our Car Club reserved a block of rooms at this hotel. We stayed there several nights. Our car club has been using this hotel for several years but this was our first stay with them I am not a seasoned traveler but usually Holiday Inn is  know as an average middle of the road hotel. Ive stayed at the Marriott hotels and the Hilton Hotels so I was not looking to be overwhelmed by a Holiday Inn, But I was. It seems with them that when you ask a question about service the answer is always yes. When I came in to eat two minutes before closing they said YES come on in and they did not hurry us out the door.  When we got done with our meal and the pot of coffee that was left on our table was not simply removed, they asked if they could bring us "to go" coffee cups with lids so we could take the remainder of the coffee. When asked if we could change our room to a suite the said yes and arranged it immediately. Every single person was polite from house keeping, to the front desk, the restaurant. I don't know if this is the new Holiday inn experience or if it is just this particular Holiday Inn but I was made to feel special and appreciated as a customer. That is very Rare.

I booked the room through Hotwire so I prepaid for the room.

I was greeted very politely when I arrived.  As soon as I gave my name to the desk clerk her attitude changed, she tossed me the room keys and informed me that if I had any issues I would have to take them up with Hotwire.

The room was spotless, comfortable and warm; nice given that it was about 40 degrees F outside.  I turned the heat down to 66 to make sure it didn't turn on overnight.  It did turn on a few times that evening but I didn't think about it since the toilet was leaking and driving me nuts.  I don't know why I didn't think it would bother me since it was noisy as all hell and right next to the bed.

When I turned in I closed the bathroom door so I wouldn't hear the toilet but was awakened at least 6 times during the night by the heater turning on for 15 seconds or so and then turning off.  I checked the thermostat; it was 71 in the room, set for heat at 66 degrees.  By the morning I had a violent migraine from being awakened repeatedly all night and was unable to attend the event that had cost me almost $1,000

A co-worker, also staying there, had the same problem with the heat in his room.

When I checked out Saturday morning (I paid for a 2nd night but again, it was prepaid through Hotwire) the clerk grabbed the room keys and walked away.

This was a perfect stay. We went to a minor league game, and came back to the hotel. The kids swum in the indoor pool. I had a great shower. Watched tv, and the bed was very soft, with comfortable pillows. Breakfast was awesome as well with yummy French toast. Perfect night. I used the Wi-Fi too for the first time on my new phone.

Staff was very friendly, Place was very clean. Someone in another review mentioned pillows, well I think the listened because the pillows were so soft and fluffy  I wanted to take them home. Downside I wish I could say the same for the bed, Imagine a floor with 5 or 6 comforters for padding. My wife would have loved this me well I like to sleep on my side and I woke up every 45 minutes very uncomfortable. is wifi cut in and out I never stayed connected for more than 10 minutes. If you like stiff beds and don't care for wifi it would be 5 stars but its not for me.

Great hotel!  Pleasantly suprised when I walked in the door to the grand entry way.  I travel every week for work and I was not expecting much when I was sent on a mission in Bakersfield.  The hotel is clean, new, and beautiful!  When I checked in they offered me a couple bottles of water (probably because I am priority status but not sure).

Room: super clean, big, and equipped with a small kitchenette area and a nice loveseat (not like the crappy ones in most suite style rooms).

Bathroom:  HUGE, and the shower has a full body shower system with 6 spouts.

Free breakfast as usual with these locations

Only downside... No bar :(  I guess I will be relying on Yelp to help me find a decent place to get a night cap around here.

Pros: clean & new, room service, cafe, full bar, free & easy parking, really friendly service (thank you ladies, you were all amazing), big screen tvs, good water pressure & bbw toiletries.

Cons: those effing awful pillows. Diaf pillows. Despite all the pros I might not stay here again just because of the pillows. :-(. Management, you listening? Those pillows are not pillows, they are soft boulders. Does not want.

Like other reviewers have said, it's very clean. The shower was really big, too, and had a solid glass door.

The staff was very friendly and getting a late check out was no problem. In fact, the late check out was at 2, which was really late.

We also ate breakfast at the place downstairs, which has TVs at each booth. Service there was cordial and quick, and the food was typical diner-style breakfast fare.

It can be a bit noisy-- either several people were running around like elephants, or the walls/floors are thin. Even my husband noticed it and he usually doesn't notice stuff like that.

Our room had no fridge-- maybe you have to ask for a room with.

This hotel has a really nice appearance.  It looks modern and relatively new.  The rooms are good size and for the most part clean.  Our room had two queen beds with a coffee maker, tv and blow dryer.  If you need a fridge or microwave they are an additional $10 per day each, or at least that is what is says in the information binder.  Yes I actually read it.

We were greeted by the hotel clerk and she handed us a complimentary snack pack, one per room, which if you have kids will be a problem, because it includes one bottle of water and one granola bar, which of course when there is only one and more than one kid, it will cause problems.

I decided to stay here based on all the yelp reviews, most said it was clean and comfortable, no one complained of bed bugs or noise.

Well there were NOT any bed bugs, but the sheets made me quite itchy all night, I don't know if that is from the detergent they use to clean the sheets, that has never happened to me before.

And for the noise, we were on the forth floor and whenever they would roll the carts down the hallway the whole floor would vibrate, well sorry I guess that isn't really a noise, but more of an irritant.  I was first woken up by a railroad crossing, then I was woken up a second time by the dumpster pick up and then I was woken up by the loud heating fan, even thought we had selected the heating fan off on the control unit.

So simply stated:

Pros: clean and comfortable

Cons: loud and itchy

Price... you tell me, it was $90 for a night.

Extremely clean room and check-in area. Very cordial staff, although the girl working the desk at night was a little absent-minded (think blonde without the blonde hair). Paid $101 for one night, room had a king-sized bed. Pillows were like clouds and room was left at a perfect 70 degrees. View wasn't terrible at all like some reviews said. Might try other hotels in the area (there's a ton!) just for kicks, but would come back to this place if I needed to and am in the area again.

Very nice lobby with extremely helpful and friendly staff. Plenty of parking. Close to hwy 99, yet in secluded quiet area.  Room was updated and impeccable, bathroom was clean (rubber ducky was fun to see), bed comfortable with sheets so tucked in you could barely move, a/c quiet and kept temperature, wifi worked just fine, couple outlets by desk and one by night stand.  BUT: Could use stronger lights by the desk, no fridge or microwave, and was charged for beakfast. Restaurant dinner prices a bit high, but maybe quality warrants it; restaurant and bar stay open until 10pm.  There is happy hour.  Overall, I recommend it and would stat here again.

The front desk staff was wonderful from check in to check out and was always willing to offer help and suggestions to anything we asked. All of the rest of the staff was very friendly and greeted you with a smile on their face when you went by.

The facility is obviously either new or newly renovated and it is being kept up very well. Everything is very clean and in proper working order. During our stay some component of our toilet broke and we called down to the front desk and they sent maintenance up immediately. The bed was I would say above average for these types of hotels and they have a wide range of pillows to choose from so if you don't like whats in the room you can get different things.

Some of the other views have complained about the views from the hotel windows and they are right it is not pretty but consider where you are...... BAKERSFIELD it is a giant oilfield basically. Heck they have a suburb called Oildale! Besides that who really spends time peering out their hotel room window? This place is safe and maintained so what if you have to look at a dust field or some metal in a fenced yard.

Honestly I think my first complaint is for the in hotel restaurant. We were seated pretty quick and offered menus. I did have to ask about any specials they had going on as there was no sign or information offered. Fair warning they have a $2.50 well drink special and it is rotgut and honestly not worth that price. Pay for the better stuff. The menu is very small and options are limited. My wife ordered fish and chips and I ordered a club sandwich. I'm not sure what would have been the part that took so long but our food was not put in front of us for over 45 minutes which was inexcusable. When I brought it up to the server she said "we have a new cook." Not really sure what part of putting some fish in a fryer for 3 minutes making a sandwich takes that long but they didn't seem to concerned.

My last complaint was that our room did not have a mini fridge in it and when I asked for one the staff did have one delivered. What they failed to mention was that there was a $10 a day charge. I was not thrilled about that when I saw it after not being informed of it.

VERY VERY nice Hotel,.....and a great indoor pool!  We had to tell them to jack up the heat though....but they did! This hotel even has a restaurant and bar!! The only negative is the pillows sucked....and the sheets were tucked in so tightly on the bed that I swear a virgin made my bed!  I felt like I was choking under the sheets!!!! Oh, and the website is VERY misleading. Our room stated it was a TWO BEDROOM SUITE. It wasnt...and I had to pay for a SECOND ROOM!!!

We stayed here for a short Spring Break getaway for the indoor pool.

The rooms were nice, the beds were nice and comfortable.  Got USA Today at the door every morning.

We had a late snack from the restaurant the first night and and we had breakfast two mornings. Sadly, this location doesn't have a daily buffet.  But that's okay, I can't 90% of it anyway!  My son missed it, though.  The food was good and the service was friendly.

The pool has nice, long hours like 6a - 10p or something.

Even though it's geared toward business travelers, it was a nice stay and I would choose it again when in the area.

LOVED this hotel! It has beautiful decor and is nicely updated. We used the exercise room which met our expectations. We were in a King suite. This room had all the conveniences of home.

The staff was extremely courteous upon check in. They were also very helpful and professional during the 5am false fire alarm.

The rubber ducky in the bath was a crack up!

We highly recommend this hotel!!

Understaffed and poorly managed. Room was dark and dirty and the least bit welcoming for a premier chain. Had no hot water and had to check out the next day to a nearby hotel with cleaner facilities and hot water. Hotel front desk did not seem to even care why we were leaving and did not even offer a discount for the night we spent there. Not an atmosphere I would recommend, nor was the cleanliness up to even average standards. First thing the kids noticed was that the hallways smelled of urine. Not a good start to our stay for our visit back in our own hometown. Thank God for the Courtyard Marriott across the way!

Every time I stay overnight in Bakersfield, I always book my stay here. The location is a little hidden but it's right off the 99 highway and its on one of the main roads in Bakersfield. I've always had amazing service and the staff at the front desk were always very friendly. The room was clean and I never had any issues with the bed. I haven't been back in a couple of years but I'll be happy to book my room here again.

Worst experience I have ever had at a Holiday Inn. Finally get to a hotel with an indoor pool and can't enjoy it due to screaming and kids jumping and playing in the pool all night. The desk clerk said the  posted rules were only to relieve the Holiday Inn from liability if the kids get hurt. Very helpful...

They put us (2 adults) in a room in the middle of a group of kids with parents who allowed them to run and jump till after 10pm. Again desk clerk did nothing.

I gave them 2 stars because the room was nice, but had no refrigerator or microwave or free breakfast. You pay more money for less.

Will never go back.

Holiday Inn is pretty much the only hotel chain I stay at. I have stayed overnight twice here, and although it's a very nice hotel (yay for an indoor pool), there were a few things that disappointed me.

First of all, despite the hefty price of 140$/night, breakfast was not included. I've stayed at other Holiday Inns for cheaper and they still offer a decent breakfast. The rooms are beautifully decorated; however, they lack a fridge and/or microwave.

Basically, although this is better than most hotels you'll find around Bakersfield, it's definitely not as good as other Holiday Inns I've stayed at around the country.

The room was clean and had a good view (as good as Bakersfield can provide, that is...)

I will be back!!!
