Great place to stay for business or travel.  Free wireless internet and breakfast.  Quiet roomy rooms with kitchenettes.  I could stay here for a week or two if I needed to.

After being on the road for work I was impressed and relieved when I checked into this place the other night. Super comfy bed- fluffy pillows - a full kitchen and free breakfast. I was only there one night but I slept very well and loved my stay.

We were pleasently suprised !!.  This property was immaculate, quiet.  I agree with the other 'yelper'... it's our new favorite & we will definetely stay again.

We checked in late (11:00 pm).. no problem!!  We got up to the room & it was already 'cooled down' .  We were so suprised at the size of the room (s).  The bedroom was large w/ two full size beds.  There was an ajoining livingroom / kitchenette combination -with small dining table.  The livingroom had a foldout bed.  The mattresses were BETTER than at home.  There was a hot breakfast available w/ trays.. if you wanted to eat in the room.  I highly recommend this property.  I hightly recommend to families w/ children, busisness travelers w/ long term stays.

I-5 South closed due to snow on the Grape Vine. No hotel would pick up their phone or had no vacancy. Homewood Suites, was the only hotel that gave us the courtesy of answering their phone and staying on even though our connection was horrible (thank you, Stacy). Checking in took only minutes (thank you again, Stacy) and the suite is to die for. Full kitchenette, living area, and sleeping area are beautiful and comfortable. Very pleased and will recommend!!!!!!

It had been years since I'd tried a Homewood Suites, so when my folks recommended it over our usual Hampton Inn default choice, we decided to give it a try.  Being from the same hotel family, we expected it would be at least acceptable.  And it was.  Just not good enough for us to make a change from Hampton Inn.  It does offer the convenient in-house dinner, which was salad, chicken Alfredo, and a dessert, the night we were there.  But part of the fun of traveling is using Yelp to find yummy local restaurants. (We went to Thai House not far down Ming.)  I guess for the business traveller, in-house can be a nice option, though.  It did have two bedroom suites, which offer more privacy for families.  But the decor seemed dark and cramped compared to the lighter palette used at Hampton Inns.  Breakfast was about the same as the Hampton Inn, but not quite as many choices, and the waffle batter was thinner.  We had no trouble with the reservation, as others seem to have experienced. I was using the HHonors website on my Android phone.

Since Bakersfield isn't really known for it's resorts:)  Homewood Suites is the closest to you'll find to a real hotel in Bakersfield.

We've stayed here on 2 occasions and both have been good. They have suites which are large with all the standard amenities:
kitchen, living room area, bedroom with sink in the room, then the bathroom.  They just upgraded to flat screen tv's, which is a plus.

But beyond that, the hotel is clean and basic.  The location is pretty good, since you can walk to The Marketplace.  This could be a 4 star hotel, but the maid service is painfully slow...unless you are gone for the entire day. Oh yeah, they also include free breakfast and dinner.  If you aren't familiar with the area, this would be a plus.

There is a reason this place has been getting negative reviews recently.  We were staying on a Saturday night for a dear friend's birthday.  The birthday involved a dinner Saturday night and an afternoon recital tribute on Sunday that began at 2PM. We requested a late check out of 1:30PM for Sunday (when we checked in).  They told us we would have to ask Sunday morning - even though I am (but soon not to be) a hilton honors member.  There is no honor at this Hilton.  We were denied the late check out by an extemely unaccomodating front desk clerk.  Her incompetency was only exceeded by her apathy.  We were besieged by little leaguers running rampant the whole day and night and the toilet malfunctioned.  On Sunday morning they hold church services in a room on the ground floor.  While I believe in people sharing in in their excitement of worship, the volume was so high that it was literally broadcasted to the bottom floor.  These people have no clue about running a hotel or customer loyalty.  There is a reason why Marriott people keep coming back to the Marriotts.  I am due to stay at the Hilton in the Financial district in San Francisco in a couple of weeks, but this episode in Bakersfied really makes me pause and wonder if Hilton deserves loyalty.

Two years ago when we had our son he spent a week in NICU at Mercy Southwest. We live in Tehachapi and there was no way in the world my wife and I were going to be so far away from him. One of the nurses told us about Homewood. We called and the staff was very companionate and helpful. The doctor couldn't give us a date of how long so the Homewood staff let us go day by day. The food help elevate some of the financial burden also. The food was good. The full kitchen was nice because we need to store milk between trips to see my son. I was also able to hoot the grocery store and have snacks for our other kids. My wife and I try to use Homewood any time we travel now.

This was my home between homes when I was in the process of moving to Bakersfield.  I really, really liked it here.  Online booking was a breeze and with only one exception, I was able to check-in early on the day that I arrived.

2 flat screen tv's in the room.  Spotless clean.  A VERY comfortable bed.  I assume the walls are pretty thick, as I never heard a peep from next door no matter where in the hotel I was.  This place serves dinner.  That alone is worth the 5 stars.  Dinner!  Every day with a different menu, and if I remember correctly there was a little card or paper in the room letting you know the menu.  Of course, asking the front desk is always an option too.

There are two spas within walking distance, one directly across the street on Mill Rock.  The parking lot is large and well lit.  The back and side stairs are easily accessible.  The staff was always very friendly on every single one of my visits.  In fact, their demeanor made me feel at ease in my decision to move to Bakersfield.  I know that sounds super cheesy, but hey, it's the truth.

I absolutely cannot recommend this hotel enough.

Homewood is the "home away from home."

This hotel is part of the Hilton Family chain of hotels.  Due to all of its amenities, Homewood Suites is my new favorite.  They have clean rooms, a comfy bed, a fast check out, a fitness room, and best of all, complimentary hot breakfast AND dinner.  Yes, dinner was included in the hotel rate.  Amazing!  On the website, it states that the hotel offers only snacks as part of a manager's reception, but it was actually a three course dinner buffet that included, salad, a main course, and dessert.  They also brewed Starbucks coffee and had Bud and Bud Light on tap during dinner service.  All-you-can-drink!

Thursday had the best food as they served meat lasagna with garlic bread and veggies.  The food quality was average, but since it was included in the hotel rate, of course I'm going to eat it and be full.

Overall, it was a great deal for business travelers in Bakersfield.

Had to spend the last 3 weekends in Bakersfield and glad we spent them at the Homewood Suites.  Friendly, helpful courteous staff and great service.  The morning breakfast was really outstanding.  Huge selection of fresh stuff.  You name it, they had it.  The front desk staff bent over backwards to make our stay one of the best anywhere.

    Highly recommended!!!

Rooms are nice, location great, intended for long stay business travelers but...
We intended on staying for 5 days but left to stay with relatives after staff and management allowed a large group of youth soccer players to run wild through the hotel. One staff member was nice but the other took a "what am I supposed to do attitude". We won't return when visiting family.

One of the better places to stay in Bako! Big rooms! Love the fridge/stove/micro combo!

I don't typically stay in Bakersfield.....but when I do..... This is the place!

I am a hilton diamond member and visit Bako quite often and typically stay here. However this hasn't stopped the staff from messing up my reservation almost every week that I am here. I overlooked this as they would accomodate me claiming "filled up" and thus I always ended up with the bad rooms even though my reservations were made months before.
The carpets are old and smell funny (they allow pets in the rooms) you decide what that entails. The breakfast and dinner they provide are typically made with the cheapest quality products and are always overly salted and thus inedible. Stick to just the salad(dinner)  and oats(breakfast).
Unless you have pets and like smoking I suggest any other newer cleaner pets regurgitation free  hotel

This is a great homewood suites.

It is nice and new, and probably one of the nicer hotels in Bakersfield I would guess.

We had the family of 4 in tow, and we were able to pick up a nice large 1-bedroom suite.

I almost deducted a start for the location. It is a good 10 minutes off of the freeway for some reason. I have no idea why they put it at the location where they did.  But, it's not that big of a deal, and there are some coffee shops on the road out to the freeway, so I guess that helps make up for the funny location.

Rooms were clean and updated but the management ruined the weekend for some in our group.  For large groups, DON'T BLOCK A SET OF ROOMS, you get more flexiblity by going online for just $5 or $10 more.  Few of us got stuck paying for a night we didn't use because of the the "fine print" on the contract.  What manager said verbally was not applicable.  Very sneaky!
    Go elsewhere!

They have the best breakfast buffet I have ever had in a hotel! It's a free and full breakfast with a great assortment of choices. Also, from Monday through Thursday, this hotel serves a complimentary dinner with beer and wine. The dinner isn't shabby at all too.

What we noticed, though, is that their cold water in the room (i.e. wash basin, kitchen sink, and bath tub) runs with hot water at night -- when we want to take a shower. This makes for a very hot shower and is very uncomfortably hot. But in the morning, the cold water runs with cold water -- appropriately. We reported this to the Front Desk but it's still happening, and we're thinking that this is some internal plumbing problem.

UPDATE:  4/14/2013  Apparently they must have fixed the problem because now the cold water is cold. Hooray! Now our showers are not only bearable, but much, much better! We don't have to endure hot, hot lobster-red showers!

Very clean with friendly service. Appears to be a newer hotel, so it has a slightly modern feel with a down home decor. The suites are spacious with all of the amenities you would want or need for a brief stay or an extended one.

After getting stuck in horrible traffic with my family, we pulled off and got a room at 12:30 AM. We chose this hotel because of the ratings and reviews on Yelp.

PROS Very nice place. They let us check in early with no problem. Starbucks Coffee. It's clean quiet and free breakfast. We stayed in the King Studio  it was awesome. Great shower pressure. THE General Manager even had an Easter egg hunt for the kids. That was awesome. Will definitely come back here whenever we are in Bako. Small Con was someone at Desk. Wife called to get a little later checkout because of the Easter Egg hunt. Lady said we could stay till 11:30 lol Check out is 12:00. We called back and she said okay you can stay till 12 lol

My wife and I own a home just 8 blocks away from the hotel.  Recently, our son, his wife and their three Grand-Kids came to spend a overnight visit  We ran out of bedrooms as another son was living with us, so after visiting late we decided that we would spend the night at the Hollywood (Not Homewood) and meet at a Restaurant the next morning.  Not knowing what to expect, we found one of the cleanest best furnished Hotel/Motel's we have stayed in barring Vegas. I would not consider this a complete review as all we did was enjoy great bed, TV then a short drive home.  However, another son spent a full 7 days there during a Trial here in Bakersfield, with nothing but compliments, for what it's worth..  LARRY 'O'

Great location.  Away from the noisy highway and a very clean and friendly place!  I've never felt so welcomed before at a Hilton!  The only bummer and the 4 stars instead of 5...is my room had a smell of cigarettes and stale air.  Real First World problem I know....

I stayed here recently during a business trip to Bakersfield. The Hilton Garden Inn was full and this seemed like a reasonable alternative, although I did not need the space provided in the two bedroom suite I was put in. The value for the dollar is high considering the amenities. Pros include the free dinner service and very warm comforters on the bed, not to mention loads of space in the room.

There are a few points though where I felt the quality was lacking compared to other Homewoods I have stayed in across the country. First, the hallway layout is just dumb. There is only one hallway, with no walk between's, and since I was in a higher room number I had to traverse the entire outside distance of the hotel to get to my room. Nothing the employees of the hotel can do anything about, but just be aware that you've got a hike in front of you if you try to get to your room from the lobby.

On the topic of things that the hotel could do something about, the television in the bedroom was broken. I notified the front desk, and they said they would take care of it while I was at work, but when I returned it was still broken. It felt like the front desk just ignored my request. By then it was late at night so I did not call them again. Nobody wants a maintenance guy hanging out in your room while you are trying to relax and unwind.

Despite the issues, I would still say that all in all it is a good choice of hotel for a traveler to stay while in Bakersfield.

We stayed here a night while passing through and it is great for families, not only for business travelers!

Full breakfast, not just "pastries and cereal" type of thing.

I would definitely stay here again!
