What I would like to point out is that there is no consistency to this chain of hotels. The one in Fresno Riverpark is sparkling and updated, and this one-which I happened upon due to the lateness of the hour and inability to make it that night to LA- is like something out of "No Country for Old Men". I got a suite, which made it worse, as every piece of furniture was covered with bodily fluids, and the property itself is full of creepy corridors and an outside elevator requiring no key. If you are a "just want a bed" person, this will work for you. Women travelling alone- stay away.

This place was gross!  Everywhere smelled like an ashtray. The front desk was not helpful, gave some gross spray to spray in the room.  Got a row of 9-10 BEDBUG bites!  Never will stay there again EVER.

For $44 a night for a king, I can't complain.

The room was clean, simple, but came with a fridge & microwave & coffee maker, which is nice for this level of a motel.

It's a motel, so obviously your front door is going to face outside (parking lot, walkway, etc.), and I can't fault the hotel for people talking loudly while they pack their cars up at 8 am when they check out.

Breakfast ends at 9 am, and since I'm not up at 9 am, I don't know how it was.  An IHOP is adjacent, and an AM-PM is on the corner in case one wants to grab some snacks late.

Also, since it's right off the freeway, it's a real convenient stop if you just want a quick place to sleep.

I'd stay there again, because I felt the price was reasonable and the rooms clean.

Came here late at night and found this poor girl, by herself, overwhelmed by her responsibilities.  Her phone was ringing off the hook and she was constantly sent away from the front desk having to handle things all over the hotel.  I checked in late with the understanding that I would have free wireless in the room which I needed.  It was offline and since the front desk girl had her hands full I had to call tech support.  After 30 minutes on the phone with him the situation was unresolved.  Also, the phone line was down in my room so I had to call the front desk with my cell phone.  I decided to check out and stay at the Hampton Inn down the road.  With so many options these hotels really need to stay on point to keep their business.

At $75 a night (walk in rate) on a Friday night it is on the lower end of this hotel class in the area - the rest are closer to $100.

This is my go to hotel when driving through Bakersfield. I've stayed here multiple times and have always been happy. The beds are super comfortable. Nice tv's. Quiet and clean and moderately priced.  Dog friendly helps!  I'd recommend.

So let me start by saying that I've stayed at quite a few La Quinta's before and have always had a good experience.  Not that this experience was bad.  My husband and I were here for a week to do some house hunting for an out of state move.  My father in law was also with us in another room.  We reserved a king size suite with a living area, so that FIL could come over and have a place to sit, without having to use the bed.  When we arrived, we were told that the suite was "down" and we had been upgraded to another rm and had a discounted price for the trouble.  We were charged $42/night, not bad since we were supposed to be $59/night for our suite. The hotel is set up so that all of the rms are open to the outside.  No interior rms.  Only one elevator that was slow, but worked fine.  I'm not sure what our original suite looked like, or what their idea of an upgrade was, but this was not an upgrade by any means.  We had a king size bed, a desk with 2 chairs and a mini fridge with microwave, and a broken recliner.  The rm was very clean and neat however.  It had a closet with iron, and a hairdryer.  The bed was pretty comfortable, however the pillows were not.  We all complained about neck pain the whole week.  The bed had a sheet, an old fleece blanket that was worn, and too small for the bed (it only came up to my stomach) and a very thin comforter.  I felt like I was sleeping with basically a sheet.  The fridge was very loud, like an engine about to take off, but it worked.  When I showered in the morning, there was a used washcloth hanging from the shower rod which I assumed my husband used.  I was wrong.  I was pretty grossed out by this.  We were given two very small, very thin towels and shampoo and soap.  The next day when the housekeeping came by, they tossed the soap but never replaced it!  They also forgot to replace the empty kleenex box.  They had complimentary breakfast every morning...cereal, bagels, muffins, yogurt, fruit and waffels.  The food was decent, but by the end of the week, we were looking for some variety ( I shouldn'd compalain, it was FREE!!) The hotel had a nice pool.  The staff was all very friendly and helpful.  There was only ever one girl at the desk, resposible for check in/out, answering the phone, and breakfast, so she was pretty busy. Over all it was a good for the price.  Not the best I've stayed at, and not the usuall La Quinta experience, but not bad overall.

The room smelled, it was dirty! the couch in the room had like oil marks of dirt on the hand rests!! Awful! couldn't stay there at all! i went downstairs and told them there was no way i was staying there and they said the couldn't refund me my money! i said i don't care, i'm out!!!

I've stayed here a couple times due to their SUPER pet policy.  Pets of all sizes allowed, and they stay for free.  YES!

The rooms I've had have been clean, with comfortable beds and functioning internet.  My only complaint is the skimpy ass towels that barely cover one's fanny; but I guess I could have asked for extras.  Oh well.

This location has a pool (too cold when I was there to use, but looked nice), and a large open/trail area behind the hotel that is great for walking your dog.

It is also located right next to the Buck Ownes Crystal Palace if you're the kind of traveler that goes for country music and a meaty dinner.  (I'm not.)

I got a king room (reserved ahead) for ~$55 on the weekend.  Not bad!

Needed a place to stay for an overnight trip to Bakersfield from Nor Cal...searched all the usual travel sites, and this hotel came up top every time for location & cost.

Booked online & used my AAA discount, room was $44 + tax ($49 total)

Room was available 2+ hours before my 'check in time' so I went & unpacked.

It was clean, quiet & had a fridge & microwave as well as actually drinkable coffee from the coffee maker in the room.

VERY comfortable bed, and a new flat-screen TV...with CLEAR PICTURE & A GUIDE THAT ACTUALLY WORKED, as well as a remote that wasn't chained down.

I've stayed in a LOT of hotels, and this is a very reasonably priced hotel, close the the Freeways & 2 doors away from The Crystal palace, I'll be staying there again.

Free breakfast looked great, I was meeting people elsewhere for breakfast, so didn't sample it, but the spread looked better than the regular continental breakfast you see at cheaper hotels.

Terrible customer service, terrible experience! We arrived at our room and it had a very strong chemical smell. I asked the front desk if this was a smoking room and she said it was not, and the ashtray in the room was a mistake. When I asked to move to another room, they said all the others were smoking rooms.

Even though I will most likely NEVER sleep in Bakersfield if I can help it, and won't re- visit this location*, I give this La Quinta 3 stars because the front desk gal was SUPERB!  She gets five stars as well as housekeeping and the security guard. She checked me, in, gave me my Triple AAA membership rate (do this, saves you about 10% off bill, basically paying the hotel tax)---and there's an IHOP next door to walk to. (Super great IHOP btw).  Headed to Vegas to climb Red Rocks, I needed to pull off the road with my two dogs and catch a few hours sleep--and get outta my truck.  Aware that the hotel was located off the noisy industrial diesel driving 99, it was conveniently located on/off the hywy-- so I took my chances--esp. since I was only gonna be there for a few hours.  In a way, it was good the location and hotel was not remoldeld/ outdated--it got me the few hours of sleep I needed, and made me exit stage left back towards the Vegas La Quinta, my final destination.  My Dogs slept soundly and because of them so did I.   Our room had old chairs that were SCREAMING STEAM CLEANING but the beds were super clean---which was the main factor for us.  La Quinta is doing their best with what they are working with --a shady neighborhood.   -they had a nice security guard walking and patrolling the building 24/7 and the place was lit up like a stadium.  By the looks of the newer cars in the parking lot, I had a good feeling about the guests.  I will return here if I ever need to lay over in Bakersfield ONLY* if they remodel and add surveillance cams.  Hats off to the staff--and house keeping for staying professional, courteous, and welcoming--- despite the dingy 'hood.  Left a tip as usual for them.  And a Thank You note.    DOG NOTE:   I do want to add that the older couple next door with their four dogs checked in shortly after myself and I did not hear a peep.  They also walked their quartet away from us at midnight and PICKED UP after their tiny tots.  (Kudos to responsible dog travelers)!!! I also DID NOT see any dog poop ANYWHERE out on our 30 minute stroll at this LA QUINTA.

Floor in entry way of lobby was dirty-that should have been my first clue. The room was somewhat decent-bed very comfy but dirty carpet. Old food container in refrigerator-dirty and not clean, small toilet/shower area.. The tub/shower was a sinkhole waiting to happen. it was soggy and felt like you were going to fall through. Srange people hanging around the parking lot too. Not a good area to be but for 1 night it was ok.I don't suggest staying here. The front desk girl was very nice, got AAA rate.

Frequent traveler and La Quinta guest.  This one is cheaper than the north end hotel so if that is your need, stay here.  Otherwise, stay at the north one.  Convenient to 99 and some food, nothing I eat at.  No gym and breakfast is so-so.  Subpar bread, juice, and cereal.  Muffins are the good packaged ones so not everyone's touched yours.  They do have the waffle makers and for gods sake flip them when it beeps!!!   Hotel is the motel style with older non remodeled rooms.  Neighborhood is sketchy, lots of walk around people who could probably hook you up if you were into that.  To each his own.  Stay on the top floor if you are a single woman traveling.  I've stayed here 2 times and no weirdness but take my advice and stay at the north location.

Visiting from out of town so we didn't realize what a bad area it was. Comfy bed but found a cockroach in the bathroom the next morning, room smelled and the AC unit was leaking. Fortunately they had a night security guard. We will not return there.

Used condom in the parking lot next to our car, there's a dude sitting in his car now for 5 hours, like a guard dog. Took the dogs out for bathroom break and saw four cars drive by, drive around again and stop where a young girl came out and leaned againt  their car.  Watched them drive off. Upon arrival the police were searching someone at the restaurant in front. I am extremely uncomfortable with this hotel. I love the dog policy and potty bag area for them. Our king room has no fridge for $79.00. Really nice check in though.

Unsafe at any price.  Homeless loitering within 30 ft of the front door.  Overall security very questionable.  Non-residents meandering around the parking lots.  Left after 30 minutes.

Courteous staff. Clean rooms. Comfortable beds. Reasonable rates. Pet friendly (No extra charge). Clean pool that's open from 10a to 10p.

All in all, a decent place with the normal travel accommodations. While there is not anything truly spectacular about this place, there is nothing awful either.

If you need a place.
Stop here for comfort today.

It's not the worst place to stay, but certainly not the best either. Beds are comfortable, but that's about all. One elevator for each building and there r three. We stayed three nights and part of the coffee maker was missing, we never got coffee all three days. Breakfast was a joke all carbs. They had cream cheese but nothing to put it on. Creamer was powder, one flavor if yogurt. Very poor breakfast. Next year we will be staying somewhere else.

Stayed here for a few nights last weekend while visiting Bakersfield.  Let me just say....who knew that Motel 6 was an upgrade?

This is a BASIC "bed in a room with a bath" hotel.  No frills.  It's the kind of place truckers stay when they need above room with a bath (and yeah, there were a few in the back of the lot).  They allow pets, AND have paper thin walls.  And MAN are the rooms rundown.

They DO offer wifi.  My room had between zero and one bar on it, though, which made attempts at accessing the internet futile.

They DO offer a free breakfast - as long as you like bread (which I so definitely don't).  Muffins, pastries, waffles...that's your basic meal.  Luckily, there's an IHOP about 20 yards away.

So I can't blast this place - it is what is is...a no frills place to get a nights sleep.  NOT the kind of place I'd choose to stay (and certainly wouldn't stay here again)...but if you're looking for a dirt cheap place to sleep, this may be your option.

Stayed here one night in August when it was too hot to camp nearby.  The staff was helpful and friendly, and accommodated our older dog with a ground floor room. There was a yard and dog area near the pool, which is nice, although the dog poop bags had run out.

The room itself was not the cleanest (particularly the carpets) and there was some very haphazard repair work that had been done on a hole in the wall.  The place was not noisy and our room near the pool was in a fairly sheltered area considering the location -- nice landscaping that seemed to mute the sounds.  Lots of nearby fast food choices.

My boyfriend went to breakfast and found the coffee not great. Also he wanted a hard boiled egg and other patrons were taking handfuls and none left for him. Personally I would have asked them to share. Overall I would likely stay there again. Price seemed reasonable although not a great bargain.

I realize that hotels are managed locally but it was a shock how different this location was from our favorite in Paso Robles only a couple of hours away. Everything from the quality of the pillows to the breakfast choices were several steps down. That said we had a quiet comfortable and cheap stay while passing through Bakersfield. Hotel seemed to be full of single construction guys-there was no getting near that waffle iron so we opted to grab breakfast down the road. The room was as clean as anyone could get a place with tired fixtures, furniture, and carpet. With so many choices we won't be back to this location.

The young lady at check in was very nice. The room had a smell as if it had been a smoking room at some time. The WIFI was very spotty in the room and outside. This visit was not the norm as they usually have nice rooms. The bed is comfortable and the room is clean. I have stayed here many times in the past and it has always been good. I will give it another shot.

I usually stay at The Hilton Garden Inn but wanted to try a less expensive option.  Our room did not have a fridge or microwave:  no soap or shampoo; few towels.  However, for $67 a night it was a good deal.   Comfortable bed, clean linen, TV, Internet and free breakfast.  IHOP next door if you prefer more choices.   Quiet.  Clean pool.  I have no complaints.

Pros : quite possibly the cleanest motel room I've ever seen. Bed very comfy. Pillows comfy too. Lobby also exceptionally clean  good price. Free light breakfast

Cons:  the lady who checked us in announced our room number to everyone in the entire lobby - true it was actually only one person but that is the number one travel hotel security tip. I was so angry!  I made it clear in no uncertain terms how I felt. Polite but quite firm. I'll be discussing it with a manager before I leave.  Because of this the likelihood of staying here again is very slim.  I saw a hotel next door - I'll likely stay there for our trip this way next month. Breakfast has no protein.  Bathtubs drips. Has been dripping so long the tub enamel has completely eroded away where the drip hits.

I stayed here for work, what a mistake!

Here are the pros: Free breakfast, free entertainment if you like to watch bums fight right in front of your room, free hypodermic needles in the parking lot.

Here are the cons: The room resembled a prison cell, NO security what so ever! The two times I tried to go in for breakfast, it was gone by 10am.

I have stayed at several La Quintas and have NEVER seen one as bad as this! I would have been better off sleeping in my car! There are better hotel choices just down the street.

The worst hotel ever the service here is horrible I came here once a couple months back I paid the room with 100 dollar bill they kept telling me it was fake that's the first time now this time that I come to stay once again they say my money is fake how is it possible I came from a bank teller what I've notice if the bill is old they don't except it ..... Very inconvenient and the lady "  Isabel " yells at u and says she has the right to call the police .. Shaking her head with attitude really seems like she is upset she works here ...Lol I just said ok call them because I know that my money is real might be old but my money is not fake ...there was a man standing behind me and they say let him go first he was here before u mind u I been standing here talking to them and they never mentioned that before soi wait ...... Then Roy the maintenance guy checks me in.... Isabel stays moving stuff around with attitude all I have to say is this hotel is 2- Stars the service once again is horrible ....

Didn't have my quick phone reservation and made it seem like my fault even when I showed the phone text confirmation.  Gave me a non smoking room that smelled like smoke, had cigarette burns in the carpet and a cigarette burn on the bathtub.  Terrible breakfast.  Did not eat there.  This La Quinta did not live up to their usual quality.  Very disappointed

Stay away. Cleaning of room not finished  ... half drink left in fridge, towels on floor, no soap, bits of paper left about, dirty carpet. Very indifferent staff. Horrible breakfast.  Weird people NOT guests hanging around at night.

This hotel should not be called a LaQuinta. I've stayed at many LQs and this one was horrible. The air conditioner didn't work correctly, the toilet wouldn't flush, when they cleaned the room they only left one towel, one of the elevators didn't work. The people there are very unfriendly. To top it all off the breakfast is not up to LQ standards.  There are plenty of hotels yo choose from, try some where else

Disclaimer: The only reason I am here is because I personally did not chose or pay for this room. There is NO WAY I would stay here otherwise.

This place is a joke! Pay attention to all the reviews that detail the strangeness in the parking lot. They are correct :-/

Upon entering the room you can tell that they are trying to give the impression that the room is clean. IT IS NOT!!!!! (See my pics) Two dead bugs in the bathroom, visible stains on bedding right next to the sign they placed on the bed, hairs on both the fitted sheets and pillows of both beds. I'm soo grossed out and am writing this review to avoid needing to fall asleep :-(

I feel like I need to be hosed down with Lysol just for entering this room. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!
