Great rooms. Clean! Great service. We had a great experience. The guy who checked us in and out, Harvey, was very accommodating and pleasant. We were in the middle of moving from CA to CO and got stuck in Bakersfield due to a storm. I'm very happy we stayed here and will be staying at La Quinta's from now on.

never expected so much good stuff in this place. It's a new hotel, with very affordable price. the sweet lady even gave us military discount. breakfast is really good. the bedroom is clean and fresh. the bathroom is big. the hotel is located close to hwy 99 but far enough to hear the freeway. quiet and not too crowded surrounding. will surely come back and stay here again.

Good rate for one night ($95) double beds. Pet friendly- no deposit unlike the other overrated hotels in the city.

Nice pleasant room, friendly staff, indoor access which eliminates a lot of the exterior motel noise - however, it is near a stoplight. Unless you are a heavy sleeper, you have to listen to trucks working through their gears all night long!

Best hotel for the price in Bakersfield....and very nice staff.
Harvey was the greatest.   It was the best La Quinta we've stayed at around the country.

This is the best La Quinta in the area. Better than the South and WAY better than Tehachapi, which doesn't say much because that one is a dump.  Neighborhood is ok and services are good. Clean, semi-quiet, close to the airport...etc.

Stayed at this Inn 1 & 2 May.  Put there by San Joaquin Pinto Horse Assoc.. GREAT choice--Missy at desk(very courteous, very knowledgeable about the area) had us in like clockwork.  Helped us with anything, and, with a happy face=great employee!!
Breakfast(complimentary) was eggs, salsa, sausage, waffles, bisquits & gravy(with sausage) and good coffee, etc., part of stay.
Hotel was VERY clean.  Indicates good management.
Am back to area in two weeks to judge again, hope I stay here!!

I have stayed here a few times and have always been pleased.  The rooms are clean, the staff is very nice and there is an indoor pool which was fun.  Free continental breakfast which is nothing special, but it's nice when you have to wake up early and leave to be able to grab something to eat.  2 bottles of water in the mini fridge which are replaced daily.

The parking lot lacks any creepiness which is VERY important for singles ladies traveling alone.  A+ on that count.

The wireless wasn't working the last time I was there but I was able to go to Starbucks across the parking lot and check my email from there, so no biggie.

Stayed on a family trip (w/ a toddler) from Northern to Southern California. Very clean. Nice rooms, breakfast, & pool area. You can tell right away that this place is pretty new. Don't have much to go to Bakersfield for, but would definitely make this our choice for a good night's rest when travelling through again.

-awesome breakfast (as far as these types of inns go): waffles, sausage links, eggs, fresh fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, cereals, good coffee w/ to-go cups so you could take one for the road
-friendly staff
-pool was very nice & indoors

-pool was a little chilly
-breakfast ended at 9 am (early when you're checking in late after a long drive), and a staff member started cleaning it up at about 8:50. She did ask me if I wanted more as she put each item away, but would've been sad for anyone showing up then and thinking they had 10 minutes to get food.

Simple, affordable, clean room, and.....CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST.  While its not gormet by any stretch, they had eggs, bacon, sausage, waffle iron, bagels, fruit, juice and coffee.

We stopped here at midnight to crash and were very happy.

This was one of the nicest La Quinta's I have ever visited. The front desk staff was nice and personable; the room was reasonably priced and clean. It had a lot of TV channels to watch, and although not as big as a suite, the room was a decent size -- comfortable enough for my husband, me, and our doggies. Now, about the breakfast, my expectations are never high for that sort of thing, but definitely skip it. If you are in a hurry and need to grab something though, I'd go for the prepackaged stuff, like the yogurt, or maybe just a banana. I tried toasting an English muffin, and my husband tried a bagel, and boy, that was waste of time. Bleh!

The Verdict: Clean, safe, affordable. Not bad at all.

The room was comfortable and clean.  The staff was friendly.  They have a nice indoor pool.   Breakfast was great even had sausage, bacon and eggs.  We will certainly be coming back and staying at this hotel when driving down to Southern California.  The pet policy is very good.  La Quinta 's pet policy can't be beaten.  I've stayed with my St. Bernard and Pointer when necessary.   Because of their pet policy I will stay at La Quinta even if the dogs are not with me because their service and rooms are great and i want to give them the business.

Not bad for the price. Stayed 4 nights for a class at the local college. The free breakfast was ok, but I wasn't complaining... It was free. It's a little old and run down, but the water was hot and the room was clean. The free wifi wasn't great. It was pretty slow just loading a homepage. I would probably spend an extra $20 a night and stay at one of the hotels on the other side of the freeway.

Great hotel! Bed was comfy, desk was a good configuration. The microwave and fridge were in good condition. And the water was HOT with PRESSURE. Praise the light. I could definitely see staying here for a week or so.

Stayed here with my dog in Nov 2013. The front desk staff was wonderful and very welcoming. The continental breakfast was superior and had options you don't find elsewhere. It was a challenge trying to get breakfast for myself with the dog in tow (she was not allowed in that area) so plan for that if traveling solo. Room was very spacious with huge king-sized bed and I felt very safe in this location/area of Bakersfield. The only drawbacks I found was a sensitivity to the cleaning detergent on the sheets (I was so itchy from the chemicals I had to sleep on top of the bedspread, which did not provide a good night's rest). I also had a challenging time getting there....there is no stop light at the street entrance so I missed the turn and ended up on an unwelcome 5-mile detour on some nearby highway, which made me grumpy. The room had a fridge and microwave and very nice bathroom with tub and shower. The inn had a grassy area for "dog business" and a dirt lot behind the Del Taco next door. Other than that, no place for a long walk. There is also a Denny's and Starbucks next door, which is a plus. I would stay here again with my pet. :)

Very solid hotel with a nice lobby and comfortable, clean rooms.  Kind of in an industrial area close to the freeway, so if you are very sensitive to noise you might want to keep looking.  There is a Starbucks next door which opened at 4am, we had our breakfast there before hitting the road early.  Not really any decent supper places within walking distance (unless you like Dennys or McDonalds) but it was an easy drive to a delicious thai place about 10 minutes away.

Very pet friendly hotel.  They did not charge us anything extra for our cats.  They had a big bowl of delicious cantaloupe on the breakfast buffet so I grabbed some for the road.  Our room rate was $89, pretty reasonable.  I would recommend.

Bed bugs. My family and I arrived yesterday at 1 am. Bakersfield was the midpoint between the Bay Area and Legoland. I read positive reviews and thought it would be a decent place.

We all went to sleep around 1:30am and then I awoke to little things biting my legs, arms, and stomach. At around 4 am, I turned on my cell phone light and there were brown things on my hand.

I told staff and they were did nothing.

The guy kept asking me if I inspected all the mattresses thoroughly.

Then he said, "But you are leaving soon, right?"

We will never go back.

Stay away unless you like bed bugs crawling and biting on you throughout the night.

Great pet friendly hotel, rooms clean, bedding clean, bathroom very clean.  Grassy areas for dogs, safe places to walk.  Highly recommend for pet travel.  Staff welcoming and kind, called to make sure everything was as expected.  Not fancy, but well cared for, and great value with all overnight amenities.

Clean room and nice staff.  The room was small, so it was a bit difficult to navigate with our tons of bags.  Don't overpack when you come here.  :-)  We would recommend this hotel.

Stay at this one!  Not the south location.  Frequent traveler and La Quinta guest here.  This is a great one!!!  Good rooms, always clean.  Gym is very good, no elliptical, but weight machine is awesome!  Breakfast has very good fruit, cut melons usually, hot sausage and eggs( powdered but most hotels are).  Juice and bread is so-so, that's the only bad thing I'll say about this hotel.  Wifi is very fast.  You can walk to Starbucks for your morning fix and jack in the box for your late night shake craving.  Very close to the airport, but far out of town.  But let's be honest traffic in Bakersfield is easy so no big deal. It's right off of 99 and yes there's truck parking.

A well kept hotel: reasonable price with hot breakfast and two free bottles of water, clean room, clean sheets, sizable bathroom, indoor swimming pool, larger fridge, microwave..

We did not know this hotel was pet friendly. Most dogs behaved well but we were unfortunately assigned as the neighbor of a nervous dog who barked non stop. The front desk was very apologetic (not her fault) and swiftly changed our room.

Will return to this hotel if we are in Bakersfield again.

Sept 2014 Bedbugs!!!!!  My spouse stayed for 3 nights. In the middle of the night of the last night she woke up due to horrible itching and found bedbug bites on both legs. She didn't know what to do at 2 in the morning so she sat in a chair and watched tv until morning. Bagged her clothes in trash bags and made the front desk aware. She was called a liar and after persisting was told a manger would call her.  A week later and no phone call!!!

My boyfriend and I stayed here over the 4th of July weekend and the rooms were pretty nice and spacious.  I had the suite which included the room with a king size bed and a separate living room area with a queen pull out bed.  For the suite, it was about $112 for the night which isn't bad at all.  This hotel is pet friendly! At first I was scared that the rooms would have a pet odor to the rooms but they did not! They even had small grass areas for your pet to use the rest room.  Also, very convenient that located right next to Starbucks!

We headed to this city and my fiancé was put up here to start work and I used the time to find a home. We were at this La Quinta for a month and, well, that's a long time for living in a hotel but the staff and accommodations made it as welcome as could be wanted.
The front desk people are helpful, informative and easy to engage with. The woman who works during the day, and I wish I could remember her name to give special nods, she was wonderful to encounter for questions, about a couple packages we had sent to the hotel and for the simple friendly wave when crossing the lobby to leave. Since we were there for so long we didn't need constant housekeeping, sometimes just the request for the bathroom or new towels and the staff was receptive to our requests, as well as friendly smile when I passed in the hallway.  The hotel was full almost the entire time we were there, which was impressive because it is a little distance north of town, but you didn't feel the hubbub invading the space and with it the breakfast bar was always well stocked.
I would definitely recommend the hotel for the hospitality, cleanliness, accommodations(they a washer and dryer available, which for a month stay is great), and rooms. And I send thanks to the people that make it all work. Thanks!

One of the worst nights sleep I've had in a hotel. I can hear every car that's 1/2 a block away and every word the neighbors on both sides of me have to say. This place is junk for the price and will never stay here again.

So far, so good! I'm laying in a luxurious king size bed at La Quinta as I type this.

I am here for one night and so far my experience has been great. I booked online (easy) front desk staff was totally polite and professional upon check-in. Feels safe, unlike staying in a hotel downtown.

Room is VERY LARGE. Bed is comfy. Everything looks cleaner than what you normally see at a hotel. Like... this actually looks CLEAN.

I'm excited to try the free breakfast tomorrow.

FITNESS ROOM is a nice thing to have and you could definitely good a good work-out in. It is adjacent to the INDOOR POOL which is pretty cool to have but I didn't go in
(I don't like public pools and it was full of kids anyway).

My price point for a hotel is usually $50-$60/night but after staying here ($90-$100), it's gonna be hard to go back to the cheap-os.

Do yourself a favor and stay at La Quinta North next time you're in Bakersfield. :-)

I came to Bakersfield for a overnight stay and was surprised by this place! It was nice and quiet being that there is quiet an amount of traffic in the area. Right off of Hwy 99. The area had to gas stations, a Denny's, Jack in the Box, Starbucks, and McDonalds for the travelers who need a speedy meal on the go. Check in was fast and easy. The staff were very nice and accommodating. I had to go down and get change from them for the vending machine and they made sure that my room met all my needs. They also have a nice sized indoor pool and spa for leisure. I wasn't able to partake in the Complimentary Breakfast but from past experiences, I'm sure La Quinta had a nice variety.

My room was VERY spacious with a nice sitting area if your not into sitting in bed or at a work desk all day. The bed was one of the most comfortable that I've slept in in along time! The only thong that I was unhappy with was the smell outside which had nothng to do with the room. Bakersfield is full of farm land and you could smell the manure coming from that farm land when you stepped outside! They do a great job with masking that smell, though!

I travel for business to Bakersfield a lot - and at the risk of insulting the residents, I'm not a huge fan of the city. I've tried a number of budget versions of motels/hotels and the best value I have found is the La Quinta Inn and Suites (NORTH).

Large and spacious rooms - desk with multiple plugs, comfortable bed, decent television, and consistently nice bathroom. I have to give special mention to the two fine people who checked me in (and do so seemingly every time I visit) in Nicole Ramirez, and Frank Ramirez (no relation). They do so with courtesy, joviality, and always take time to admire and fuss over my ugly dog. She's not pretty but she's my baby - and an owner of 5 dogs and a veterinarian to boot, I really appreciate it. The staff makes me want to visit this hotel almost as much as the hotel itself.

The surrounding area is sparse but you can tell the hotel takes an effort to keep it looking nice with large grass areas to walk around with your pet. There isn't much in the way of diversions (I'm there to work not play) but there are several restaurants, including a Denny's and a Barbecue place, as well as a Starbucks, Fast Food, and Subway nearby.

But the best part about it is that it is clean, pet friendly, and well maintained in city where I must admit there are not many really pleasant options. Again, my apologies for any offense but regardless I am always impressed with this hotel.

No complaints here. A newer more upscale La Quinta than many I have stayed at.  Rooms were decent, indoor pool was a plus and loved that dennys and Startbucks were right next door.  Would stay here again my next visit to Bakersfield

We stayed at La Quinta Suites while enroute to San Diego. We arrived in the middle of the night and when I checked in with the hotel clerk, Chris, he told me that I made reservations for 2 rooms. I told him that it was just me, the wife and the dog, He suggested I speak with Hotel.com whom I made the reservations with. I called them immediately and worked it out with them. The room was $110.00 per night but the dog was free, The hotel room was nice and accommodating. Complimentary breakfast was OK, not bad. The only negative was finding the place which is near Hwy 99 but when coming up from I-5 you have to make a long side route to get there.
La Quinta has a nice pet policy which I wish other hotels would adopt. Thanks La Quinta for being pet friendly.

I'll preface my review by saying that I've  stayed here a few times for work purposes only.

I feel comfortable that this hotel is a solid 4 stars.  The hotel is in a decent area (north Bakersfield) and it is easily accessible from the 99 freeway.  There isn't much to do in the immediate area, but the area is clean and I've never seen any shady types around the hotel.  There is a Starbucks, Denny's and a few fast food places that you can walk to very easily and quickly, which works well for me since I'm just there for work anyhow.  There is sufficient parking and the lot is clean and well-lit. The hotel itself is newer and very clean.  The front desk staff is very polite and helpful. Check in/check out has always been quick and easy.

The rooms are very clean and well-appointed. They have a large desk, office chair, laptop plugs and desk light. The WiFi access is included in the cost of the room and works well. The rooms have thermostat controlled heat and AC. The beds are very comfortable to me (firm but with a good padded top) and they provide an ample amount of good quality pillows.

So why 4 stars?  The hotel is relatively close to the freeway and a small airport, but the noise is not terrible by any means.  Also, they do charge a high rate (my rate was $104 per night) during the week and offer only a very small AAA discount.  Also, making a reservation several days in advance is almost an absolute must as this is a popular hotel for people visiting for work and weary travelers alike.

1) they are pet friendly (restrictions apply)
2) there is an indoor pool (very nice)
3) there is a workout center (modest but adequate)
4) a hot breakfast is provided every morning from 6 AM to 9 AM (pretty decent)
5) they have a laundry facility (I've never used it)

We were passing through on our way to Vegas. It is clean and well maintained. The staff is super friendly. Beds are comfy. They do accept pets!
