My wife and kids have stayed here before, but this was my first time.  It was perfect for our needs and the pricing was incredible.  I found the room to be comfortable, quiet and spacious.  Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to enjoy the pool, but I did get a good night's rest.  We'll stay here again!

Had a horrible experience here.  One that no one should experience!  If you wanna hear about it you can private message me.  To make a long story short the room was dirty, the staff was rude, and no one should spend the money to stay here when there are many places around that are much cheaper.

Not a quality location. Pay $15 dollars for what should be a complementary breakfast, a buffet style, with limited offerings. The internet in the rooms is incredibly poor, unable to access anything.

Stayed twice to and from Vegas. Got last minute rooms at reasonable price. One time with AAA card, $60 a night. Rooms are all suites, bedroom plus sofa bed. Breakfast was good, more than continental was offered. The best was the indoor pool to tire out the kids.

for what we paid, everything was an okay.

the service wasn't so much up to par that i would like, such as something simply as to greetings when we enter the building. it's never a good sign when the front desk doesn't say hello to each guest to make them feel welcomed. when we first checked in, the lady totally ignored me. other times, each front desk person we walked by seemed preoccupied in front of their computer, despite how slow the hotel is. we said hi before them. oh well, moving on.

the complimentary breakfast was nice. nothing fancy, but they had everything you'll need. hot coffee, tea, oj, fresh apples, yogurt, hot sausage patties, scrambled eggs, ketchup, salsa, bagels, slices of bread, and make-your-own waffles with whip cream. it ends at 9am so we just had to wake up a little early for that nice treat.

the room was okay. since i am such a germophobic, i saw little things such as small molds in the bath tub, a tare on the bed skirt, and a ratty take-out menu, but everything else was good. it was quiet, bed was standard, and there was free wifi.

there was a outdoor patio space where you can go in with your key-card. it has a jacuzzi there too. it is also connected to the indoor pool. there were lots of kids and moms there!

parking lot is HUGE, and it's complimentary.

I've stayed here about three times over the last year and a half. It's pretty much what you would expect from a SpringHill Suites. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The staff is friendly. Good choice if you're in spending the night in Bako.

    Best beds in Bakersfield!

I have to say that this was the most comfortable bed that I have slept in.  EVER.

I can't believe that I'm saying this about a Marriott....especially one in Bakersfield.  Whoa!  No, I'm not drunk.

This was an amazing bed and pillows.  If you have to stay in Bakersfield (let's pray that you don't), then you should stay here for $100 a night.  Well worth it.

Don't half step.  Use the back entrance to get to the elevators more easily.

As a Marriott rewards member, I usually stay at Marriotts.  This past week, I had the pleasure of staying here.  It is located on Rosedale Hwy near Hwy 99. It was clean and comfortable suite.  My room  had a king size bed (a little saggy in the middle), a small microwave, small refrigerator, and WiFi service.  There was also a window that I could open to let in fresh air.  The air conditioning system was comfortable and not noisy. My room was on the 4th floor (top) and was quiet.

They serve a complimentary breakfast which included round sausages and eggs that seemed like they were pressed from a cookie cutter.  However, they weren't too bad.  Their oatmeal was not overcooked and there was a variety of toppings.   They also had a waffle maker.  The coffee was nice and strong and comparable to what I make. The dining area was large and comfortable and there was a big screen tv on the wall.

SpringHill Suites is on the lower end of the Marriott chain of hotels, but I like it particularly the value.

Gotta give these guys four stars for excellent rooms and service. The family and I came in to stay for a night after having spent several days camping in the wilderness north of Yosemite and we looked like a bunch of homeless, unshaven, dirty panhandlers when we walked in. The staff treated us like professionals and when I asked about getting a razor to shave the scruff off my face, the guy was nice enough to offer me a free one and even look for shaving cream in that back closet that they keep all the new toiletries in. He also was kind enough to point out that we had our choice of any floor for our room because of the current amount of vacancies.

Then when we got the room, it was like walking into a palace. Especially considering that we had just come from camping and sleeping only a tent flap away from all the dirt, bugs and trees you can think of. While we thoroughly enjoyed camping, we also thoroughly enjoyed taking advantage of the shower, clean sheets, nice mattress, free breakfast and flat screen TV. Definitely worth your stay. By the way, I used my Marriott Rewards points here to pay for the stay and it was absolutely hassle free. One more score for them.

Why no fifth star? Because the sausage, while fully cooked I'm sure, looked more like frozen patties that had just been microwaved than cooked in a pan. Everything has got to be PERFECT for me to give a five star.

This is my first visit to this Marriott property. The front desk ladies  were very friendly which is always a plus. Housekeeping lady seemed like she hated her job. She was just grumpy as **** and talking very loud in the hall clearly heard in my unit. But that did not ruin my stay here. My room was clean, organized and comfortable. Internet service was dependable and NOT spotty.  My only real semi complaints are; the unit doors were so loud. When they closed by neighbors and down the hall, you can hear them clearly and woke me from a sound sleep couple of times. Next door was even worse! Still wondering why there was no soap dish at all in the tub/shower? That was a little uncomfortable taking a shower. Never experienced that before. But that was not a deal breaker for me! This SpringHill property was  very clean and well lit.  I would stay here again, if presented the opportunity.

This property is a very nice place to stay (especially by Bakersfield standards).  I think everything that needs to be said has been said either in the other reviews or is plain to see in the photos.  (i'm typing this review in my room at the Marriott using their free Wi-fi which works great).
One cautionary note....this hotel is located on a loop off the main drag (Rosedale Hwy).  This loop has several other hotels on it including another Marriott (Courtyard) which looks very similar and is only two doors down.  Lots of midpriced restaurants nearby (Black Angus, Hungry Hunter).  There's also a Costco very close so there's always the kosher hot dog/pizza option available.  Oh yeah, if you're tall you might enjoy the shower whose head is mounted at around 7 feet.  Enjoy your stay in Bakersfield!

I stayed here on my way back to San Franciso from San Diego. The room had a strange shape to it and where the t.v was placed in wasn't really centered with the bed or the couch. I could also hear what sounded like someone in another room turning the water on and off constantly.
To tell you the truth I was so tired when I got there that the hotel could have caught fire and I would have gotten up turned the a.c up and gone back to bed.

I recently stayed here while i was in town for a wedding. I found the staff to be friendly and provided great service. The room was nice and spacious. The complementary  breakfast was delicious. They also had a waffle maker which made some decent waffles.

I would recommend this place to anyone visiting bakersfield.

My husband & I were in in Bako so my husband could go to an interview.  We opted to stay at the SpringHill.  I have stayed with this brand in the past & have been pleased.  This branch did not disappoint.  We had a large room with a nice bath.....and the bed, oh my!  so comfy!
The breakfast, though no gourmet feast, was hot & tasty.  The first morning; along with the hot eggs, sausage & waffles we were offered tortillas with cheese & salsa so we could make little breakfast tacos.  The second morning there was fixings for mcmuffin style sandwiches.  There was also tons of fruit, yogurt, cereal, coffee, juice, muffins, bagels.......so much better than stale cereal & packaged danishes!
I also used the pool while the hubby was at his interview, it was very nice & clean.
The staff was also very courteous & attentive.

We will stay in this hotel again on any future visits to Bakersfield.

Stayed here for one night on our way to san francisco with our family.  We used the Marriott rewards points to stay but be aware that there is no upgrade possibility due to this hotel only has one floor plan.  They call it 'suites' by adding a little divider between the beddin area and the entrance and adding a microwave and little sink.  Shower and vanity area is separted which is unusual too.  Very small 350 sq ft rooms were cramped with furniture.  Not the most pleasant experience but you can think of this hotel utmost the basics.  GOODS:  free breakfast and indoor swimming pool.  VERDICT:  if you don't care about the room quality stay here but if not stay at Courtyard nextdoor on queen beds rather than doubles.

I stayed on Labor Day weekend, check in was quick, hotel was clean, and the free breakfast was good. I like a soft bed, soft pellows and was not disappointed.

Cons: wi-fi on third floor was week at best, could not use my iPad to watch tv with my dishnetwork. The maid service never cleaned the room, we had to ask for a quick change of towels and trash even though we were out all day.

    Parking was good.

Stayed here many times in the past but this trip had me canceling my next reservation with them . Night 1 .....banging doors all night long by two families that kept going from room to room until late at night and started up again at 5 in the morning. As stated in previous post the sound insulation is lacking ....Night 2 came back to the room after work to a cockroach in my bathroom sink....all of the sudden breakfast doesn't look so good. Bye Bye Springhill

I am usually incredibly picky when it comes to hotels, but this one was actually okay! We got in at probably 10:30 at night, and the the front desk lady was very nice. Hotel room was clean, and the breakfast offerings were decent. And for a hotel room, the beds were quite comfortable.

I wish I had stayed at the Courtyard which is right next door. I stay at a lot of Marriott properties all over the country and I have NEVER seen what I saw in my room. There is something on the wall right above the smoke detector & I didn't notice it until evening when it was dark in the room. It strobes a green light on & off 24/7! I was told by the front desk when I inquired in the morning that it's normal & it says that the battery is working. As I said, I stay at a lot of Marriott properties & I've never heard of such a thing.

I checked out the breakfast in the morning & the whole thing was not being well taken care of; I had to tell the front desk to have the garbage can emptied before trash started falling on the floor, and the food needed refreshing since they were running out.

The walls seemed very thin in the room & I could hear other television sets as well as conversations.

    I wouldn't stay here again.

P.S. Go eat at 24th Street Cafe; AWESOME breakfast!

We stay here often when visiting the fam in Bakersfield.  The staff is always friendly, the rooms clean, and I've never had trouble with the wi-fi.  For the tier of hotel this falls under, everything is at or above expectations.

The suite aspect makes for a nice seating area away from the bed(s) if different people want to sleep at different times.  Microwaves and mini fridges in the rooms mean leftovers and midnight snacks are that much better.  The complimentary breakfast isn't something I'd necessarily pay for, but who can complain about "complimentary"?  Plus there's always access to coffee or hot water for tea and cocoa.  Clean sheets, towels, and bathrooms are most important, and we've always had luck with those here.

In a nutshell: clean, good breakfast, and good service.

I was at this hotel for business for a week and I was very comfortable. The staff is helpful. The location of this hotel is pretty good.  Plenty of places to eat around the hotel.

The gym isn't great BUT there is a 24 hour fitness literally right outside across the street.

Breakfast included pancakes, scrambled eggs, muffins, hard boiled eggs, oatmeal, etc.

For an extended stay, this is a great place.

Fellow Yelper Anne Marie B. sums it up best: "For the tier of hotel this falls under, everything is at or above expectations."

For the record, SpringHill Bakersfield's current Marriott Rewards tier is 2 and the Courtyard nearby is also a 2. The Residence Inn and Marriott downtown in Bako are 3s. This is on an 8-point scale.

What you can expect at this level are basic services and inoffensive decor: clean room and bed, pretty basic but serviceable fitness equipment, ample parking, a small but comfortable lobby and hot showers. That the room includes wired and wireless internet as well as a small refrigerator and microwave are welcome bonuses. The complementary breakfast and coffee were simple, but better than I've seen at a number of similar properties (there were breakfast meats and eggs along with the more standard offerings like bread/bagel/English muffin, juice/milk/coffee, pastries, cereal, waffles and yogurt).

It's a little odd that properties from most of the major national/international chains are located along a single, short stretch in clustered proximity, let alone the fact that there's a Holiday Inn on Marriott Drive or that there are two Marriott properties within walking distance on the same street. Putting those bits of strangeness aside (along with the weird aspect of many of the competing hotels' lots opening up to one another...), Bakersfield's SpringHill is an up-to-date property that's good for business or leisure travel.

    * There's an on-site quick shop with some drinks and snacks. For a better selection, there are Target and Walmart stores a short drive away, as well as a Costco that's close.

    * On-site dining, outside of breakfast, isn't available but there are a number of mid-tier places within a short drive. The Carl's Junior/Hardee's, just across Rosedale/58, is open late.

Solid option for staying in Bakersfield. The staff were all friendly and attentive and the free breakfast was a great option. We love SpringHill Suites for their room design and layout. We stayed in a standard king suite and there was plenty of room for the four of us. Not much to do immediately within walking distance of the hotel (besides eat) but easy on and off to the 99. We will definitely choose this as an option in the future when we are in Bakersfield. It's not a full-service, and therefore not a 5 star rated hotel, but it is a clean and friendly place to stay.

My family & I visited this hotel while on a road trip. It was conveniently located near the interstate for easy departure the following day. After arriving, I entered my room to get settled. The room was very outdated. The furniture was old because mostly all Springhill Suites have switched their living areas to the sectionals. The window treatments were broken, and wouldn't stay closed. My husband had to stand on top of a chair to fix the curtains so they would stayed closed during our stay. The following morning, my husband went to get breakfast and they didn't have the waffles that we are use to and had while visiting other Marriotts during our road trip. He ended up getting some eggs, sausage patties and a croissant. He stated the breakfast was horrible and he couldn't eat it. By far the worst Marriott, I've ever stayed at. Definitely won't stay again!!

I lived at this motel for almost 5 months and I can't say anything negative about it except the breakfast could use a little variation. From the manager to the desk clerks to the housekeepers and especially the maintenance guys everyone I dealt with was genuinely friendly and happy to be there as well as overly accommodating. They even have a gas grill they will drag out for you too. For under $100 it's a convenient location and the nicest room in town as well as very clean and huge rooms. They were my family away from home for the better part of the year and simply wonderful in every way and made my whole stay a total pleasure!

    Nicely done Springhill!

Not a bad hotel to stay at for one night.  Get a cheap room, walk over to the Crystal Palace for dinner and you've got yourself a nice night in Bakersfield.

If you like running, there is some industrial roads behind the hotel and a sweet RV park that you can run through.  Couldn't find access to the river, but it was all right.  Lots of stray kitties running around.

I've stayed here twice before and never will again. It is very noisy.

The room has a good layout. Small sitting area in the front with a fridge and sink, then the bedroom and bath toward the window. It works.

The first time, I had a neighbor across the hall that had sports on constantly. He had the TV cranked up so I could hear it in my room. He would stay up late and get up early. How do I know when he'd wake up? Because he would have more sports stuff on then slam his door while he was leaving. The insulation was so poor that this would wake me up.
The second time I stayed, I didn't have any sports fans around, but all of my neighbors were frequently in and out of their rooms, so there were a lot of slamming doors.

I need to be able to sleep. I just can't do this again.

This hotel was pretty good for the area and price. Stayed here for work and the staff were friendly, rooms were clean and comfortable, and the breakfast wasn't bad (juice, bad coffee, yogurt, eggs, sausage patties, cereal, oatmeal with raisins and nuts, apples, bananas, strawberries, bananas, hard boiled eggs). The fitness room was small with two elliptical machines and a cross-trainer. They had an indoor pool and an outdoor hot tub. Rooms had both a refrigerator and microwave with disposable plates and silverware. The bed was pretty comfortable and the pillow wasn't too big so I slept well. I would go back.

Very disappointing... more like a regular hotel room with half a wall divider to separate the beds from the desk/loveseat. The room felt very small and congested, and it didn't help that you're just staring at a blank wall. no paintings or wall papers of any kind, very depressing... they should've just knocked down that half a wall/divider, then maybe it would've made the room appear bigger.

And set up is terrible! why would they put a TV in the middle of the room right in front of the wall that divides the room? couldn't move the tv back either, as it was nailed down to the stand so you're always looking from an angle no matter which room you're in. I guess we expected too much, I thought it would be similar to Homewood suites which is 100Xs better. It probably wouldn't have bothered me as much if they just called it SpringHill Hotel, not SUITES!  the name really threw me off, cause I expected a suite! Don't throw in a tiny fridge and microwave and call it a suite. the microwave btw, didn't even shut properly and mini fridge had a horrible humming noise
