I was planning a trip with my family to the Eureka area.  I went online to check on hotels.  I came across this casino and saw that they had just built a hotel.  It sounded like a good deal to me.  Go site seeing during the day and then go back to the room, rest, and then head out to gamble a little and check out the club they have.  So, I call to make reservations.  Let me quickly say that the individuals that I spoke to were really helpful and nice.  Anyways, I make it a habit to ask if they have military discounts (I'm a disabled veteran with a Veteran's ID card).  They said yes.  I then explained that I have the Veteran's ID card and asked if I would qualify for the discount (it was a big discount).  The worker had to ask her boss.  She came back on the phone and said that the discount only pertained to Active Duty military.  I really hate when places pull that.  It just shows that if your a Veteran, you're not good enough.  I then wrote an email to the casino explaining my frustration on this.  I quickly received a response stating the same thing I was told on the phone..."it's only for Active Duty".  I was then told something like "it's for them to relax while they are on leave".  Hey, I want to relax.  I was stuck in the middle of the desert in 140+ degree weather, in the middle of nowhere.   I've had many places accept my Veteran's ID for a military discount - Lowe's, Home Depot, Round Table Pizza, the tree service that pulled out a tree in my front yard, and even the store that sold me my bed, and many others.  All I'm saying is if you're going to have a Military discount, then accept all types of military - Active, Guard, Reserve, Veteran (with valid ID).

I can't speak to the actual Casino, but I came here to see Keller Williams play live and was impressed. I can't recall the name of the room where they had it, but it was very spacious and the casino staff were all very cool. The group I was with sweet talked them into letting us in before the doors were open to get our taping gear setup. Apparently several other tapers had done the same. Anyways, since it is within a casino you could go outside during the set break and enjoy the fresh air and then come back in the jam some more.

We had our wedding at a place near Blue Lake and for convenience sake we booked a block of rooms for our guests Blue Lake Hotel & Casino.  We all went down to the casino and bar after our wedding to continue the wonderful time we had been having with our guests.  BEFORE I even ordered my first drink they cut me off from the bar....this was due to the fact that I was "stumbling" (aka dancing w/ my husband)  I had my wedding dress on (a floor length ball gown w/ train) and my husband stepped on it while we were dancing. So the staff made a scene and pulled us away from our guests and began to talk to my new husband and i in a disrespectful manner. They were extremely rude and unprofessional. I would really like to stress how out of line, inconsiderate and completely wrong these people were. I will never recommend anyone to stay at this sub par establishment as they will most likely be subject to wrongful judgement (be careful not to dance or have a good time, they may think your too drunk)

Spent an almost b-day here on Thanksgiving for Thursday Karaoke, what a blast!!  The servers could definitely be more attentive and the music choice could be a little bit more recognizable...but overall a great night!

I love that  this place is 21 and over and I also love this place because I won 5gs here. Yippee! The place has the best slot machines and the staff here is sooo nice. They also have a nice buffet so after you are done playing you can get your grub on. The only thing that sucks here is all the smoking.. but you can't win them all.

So we stayed here before right after they opened the hotel, I will say the rooms are nice clean comfy beds and the price is same as best western, the bonus here is you can try you luck at some gaming no matter what time you check in. But the casino is a dump they don't have any of the new machines everything they have is old, there is a mix of penny machines nickel, dime, quarter, I tried plenty of the machines I only saw one woman get a hand pay of 1200.00 so these machines are way to tight. I tried to get some water was told there was a self serve area which had no ice or water so ended up with a no ice Pepsi. Was the drink server give free beers to some guys she was flirting with and never came to see if i wanted something, flagged so kid in a suit he said he would get someone, the gal who was flirting finally did come by asked for a water, she brought 1, i asked if she could bring another so my husband could have one, she rolled her eyes, got the 2nd water, at that point she wanted 4.00 for 2 16 oz waters, I laughed gave her back the waters told I could by a case for that, and I have never been charged when i am spending money playing. She then brought 2 bar glasses of water, by this time i feed up with this casino and ready to go to the room were another kid in a suit told us we cant take our glass of water to the room and promptly took them away. Oh and most of the people here are college kids and a bit rowdy. So when i leave I don't care what freebies this place has I will never be back

Hands down the best casino on the North Coast.
21 and over only! How'd they pull that one off?
It is a great place though, tons of tables with low and high limits, so everyone can play. Lots of slots. Helpful dealers, friendly staff, good food and BOOZE!!! Yeah baby! Way better than driving 12 hours to another casino anywhere else. Drain your paycheck and enjoy the slow paced lifestyle of Blue Lake. Kind of the last place I would expect the most exciting casino in Humboldt county to be! But it works!

Also, a great place to pick up lung cancer.

Go to Bear River it is so much better!!! Blue Lake Casino has the ugliest dealers, and least talented ones around... If you want Hot Chicks, or cute boys to deal to you, Go elsewhere!

Other than that it's the same as any other casino... The
Wave is kinda cool.

I went here last night with my peeps for Ladies' night karaoke in the Wave lounge. Probably the most fun I've had in a bar-type locale in a long while. I drank, I danced, I sang and pretty much made a fool of myself. There were people of all walks of life in there. Older, "country" types, to liberal college students. We were in the middle somewhere. The downside was the copious amount of smoke in there. Like another reviewer said, "It's a great place to pick up lung cancer!"

Also if you go there on a tuesday, if you're a fan of New Belgium's Fat tire, you pay $10 and you can get a t-shirt, a glass, and a pint to celebrate this fantastic beer.

I seen them and they was so excited.

This hotel was brand spanking new (built fresh from the ground up) when we went. It was $85 a night on a Monday night. The place was clean as you might expect for a new hotel. The service was pleasant and efficient. The room was spacious with free wi-fi (that requires a simple login each time you start your browser). the room had decent styling - a tad cheap, but since it was new, it was in good condition. Flat screen TV, spacious bathroom with no fan, VERY comfy King size bed with down pillows and comforters.

That said our night's sleep was horrible - one of the worst I've experienced in a hotel. The problem was that the heater - which is incredibly loud and a few feet from the bed - kept turning on for a minute, then turning off, and then turning on again about a minute later - this happened ALL NIGHT. There was nothing we could do to stop it. (The heater was set to "Off" but kept turning on anyway.) The front desk was very friendly and allowed us to sleep in the vacant room next door - we moved rooms at 4:00 in the morning - ugh. In the morning, the maintenance person said the "summer flaps" were still open and that was letting cold air in which made the heater kick on and off. They purchased crappy heating/ac units and haven't learned how to maintain them and we paid the price.

At checkout the supervisor apologized that we were "guinea pigs" and said they would correct the problem. She did not comp us but said she would like our next stay to be on them - but I have yet to see the promised email from her on that.

So overall - new, clean, not super fancy, spacious rooms, free wi-fi, good service, great beds - we just had a bad experience.

Well this casino is kind of a waste of space because they hardly have any good machines, it is very small, and the have no one walking around offering drinks to gamblers. There is no Wheel of Fortune machine! Hardly any luck in this place!

The only casino I'd ever been in was the Hilton in Reno when I was eleven, and of course all I did was eat dinner there with my mom and check out the kids' arcade downstairs with my sister.
I recently moved home to Arcata with my fiance, and his mom and her friend took us to the casino with them one night. It was the first time for both of us, and we had a blast. We started out with the $15.00 free play money they gave us, $5.00 being for the slots and $10.00 being for the tables.
We started out the night in the Wave Lounge. The waitress was incredibly nice and checked on us constantly, and she was extremely apologetic when she forgot the barbecue sauce for our sweet potato fries. FYI, if you haven't tried that combination, you MUST. The Nacho plate was big enough to feed all four of us easily, and my White Russian was to die for.
When we finished eating, my fiance and I wandered off to the slot machines. We failed miserably. Seriously, we might as well have chucked the money straight into the trash. I was mildly disappointed as the plan was to stay until around 4:00am and it was barely ten yet.
My fiance talked me into hitting the Blackjack table after giving me a quick crash course, and we headed to the $1.00 table. Every single dealer and all the players around me were very patient as I was learning, and we played for hours. I drank four and a half very excellent hot chocolates, and started winning.
We took a break after a couple hours and wandered into a little lounge. I'm not sure what the name of it was, but it's the one with the curtains and the iSino light that flashes around. I am a big fan of the show Scrubs and so I just had to try an Appletini. After barely dipping my tongue in it, I was ready to vomit. It was a few weeks later that I learned Appletinis are not supposed to be clear...anyway, the girl behind the counter was amused by my reaction and took it away, bringing me back a Buttery Nipple. It was freaking delish!
Finally we wandered back to our Blackjack table and played for a few more hours. When it got late enough, we finished up and turned in our chips. Our ride got there a little while later and we walked out with $50.00 that we didn't have when we walked in.
I had a blast, and my fiance and I returned for a fun night out a couple months later when we had some extra money. We lost it all that time, but still had a lot of fun.

I had a great experience here! I stayed here with my mom and one year old while my boyfriend fought at one of the events. The staff was very accommodating and gave us a room on the first floor so that it was easier for us to bring our things in and I could get to the room quickly when going back and forth. The large rooms were spotless, beds were comfy, and they even offered room service. I think they offered breakfast too but we didn't get up in time. I would definitely stay here again. The prices were the same as the holiday inn, a little more than some other places, but it's convenient if you'll be spending some time at the casino.
The bar and restaurants were good. What you would expect at a casino, i guess. Overall, we had no complaints. Would definitely recommend checking it out if you're in the area.

We spend four nights here... I liked it OK but wasn't super impressed. The Pros: Good rates, clean rooms with a small balcony, restaurants, with gas & convenient store on site, friendly staff, breakfast & gambling coupons. Cons: Paper thin walls and ceilings, room cards seem to somehow get deactivated every day, no in room mini frig or microwave for longer stays, bedding/bed OK, a bit off the beaten path for the area but not too bad, casino is small. For the area it's a good choice for a hotel. I would stay again.

The casino was kind enough to give my band a room for playing a festival in Blue Lake. Everything is fine until halfway down to LA we were charged $250 dollars for "smoking in the room". No one smoked in the room during our stay.
Management refused to give us any written confirmation about this charge unless we sent a subpoena. Obviously we are not going to legally file any charges because of $250.
I guess they weaseled it out from us.
I will never stay at Blue Lake Casino again.

Wow! My husband and I went there for dinner last night with some friends. We're from Seattle, our friends are from Blue Lake. My friend's I.D. had expired, and he left his paper one that he had just renewed in the car. My husband's I.D. had expired as well. He's 51, oops, when you don't get pulled over, you kinda forget about your I.D. They wouldn't serve us drinks, so we decided we wouldn't eat there. We were followed by security as we walked to the store on the other side of the parking lot. The bald security guard that followed us must've felt uneasy because he called for back-up. My husband and I have never felt so watched in our lives. Two security guards for having expired I.D.'s? Really? Not sure what we did that made them feel like we needed a security detail, but I will never be back at the Blue Lake Casino again.

What a shit hole of a dive.  Terrible food.  Gone downhill.  Used to be good.  Went to check in at 6 in the morning and was told i would have to leave at 11:00 or buy 2 nights.  FU blue lake!  Went down the road to another hotel and had no problem with a 6 o'clock check in.   NEVER COMING BACK!  Ate breakfast at their crappy cafe, lousy snotty service done by some snot nose kid who has no customer service skills.  GO TO BEAR RIVER OR CHERI HEIGHTS!  THIS IS A DUMP.

Casino: as far as a casino goes it is great for humboldt county. plenty of options for dining and plenty of machines and other games to play to your hearts content. The crowd is decent and the atmosphere is alright on a weekend night. The casino also throws shows occasionally which are often cramped and very difficult to get drink at. The restaurants had almost no vegetarian options and the food my friends received looked boring and bland, which they agreed it tasted as such. I also was a little upset about being asked for my ID three times while being inside the casino, it did not make me feel very comfortable or welcome.

The hotel:

I stayed at this hotel on two separate occasions; once on a trip, and once to stay here after a show.

The pros: Hotel staff is courteous and helpful. the interior has some simple and nice decorations and the price for a room is appropriate. the rooms themselves are spacious and well decorated. My room was clean both times and the bed was comfortable enough. I also enjoyed the tiny balcony and the overall quality of the rooms and bathrooms. parking is free and plentiful and there is a gas station owned by the casino very close by.

The cons: The first night i stayed here was a weekday and it was fine, However my second stay here after a show was downright horrible. I wanted to stay here after a show so i could drink and have a good time and not have to drive drunk or catch a ride with the tidal wave of people leaving. This seemed like  great idea until after the show when i returned to my room for some peace and quiet after listening to a loud and good show. Unfortunately for me the room across from mine was having an all night long obnoxious and loud party, with heavy scents of marijuana coming all the way into my room. I even called downstairs to see if management could do something about this. eventually two men were sent up and had a loud altercation with the guest who basically told them it was his room and they could go f themselves. After they closed the door in the employees face i saw the employee punch the air and cuss he was so upset. needless to say, despite my other complaints the party went literally all night and was left angry and sleepless in the morning. The other downfall to this hotel is that it is a bit far (10 minutes from arcata, 20 min from eureka), so consider that if you are visiting the area with no vehicle.

Overall: I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area as long as there isnt any sort of event the casino is hosting. I was disappointed with my last stay and probably wont ever stay here again out of the principle of being a guest who complained about a valid issue, and received no help.

We held our daughter's wedding reception in the Sapphire Palace Room at the Blue Lake Casino and Hotel over the weekend and blocked off a bunch of rooms in the hotel for the friends and family traveling to attend.  We worked with Heidi in special events for weeks and she was accommodating, responsive, creative and a pleasure to work with.  Our daughter had a specific vision for the look she was after at the reception and Heidi worked with the staff to create a backdrop for our decor that was really beautiful and elegant.  The hotel staff was friendly and the rooms were clean and spacious and reasonably priced.  The beds were comfortable which is an important factor when you are putting on a wedding and hosting a big party!  We ate a number of times in Alice's Restaurant in the casino and for dinner it was good but breakfast left a little to be desired.  Overall, we had a really good experience hosting a wedding at this venue and staying in the hotel for a long weekend and I would recommend it to anyone planning a wedding in the Humboldt area.

This casino is the worst casino, I played quarters and never got more then 2 pair, lost 60 bucks in 30 mins, the food totally was gross, (pic of onion rings) i took a pic and puked an threw it out. And the drinks are so weak I spent 50 dollars And wasn't even buzzed, grrrrr. We will not be back, I guess they will have I depend on other suckers to support the tribe.

The hotel is fine for the money, the restaurant, Alice's is pretty good considering limited options in the area, but the deal killer for spending any real time there is that in five years of visiting family in Blue Lake, they have NEVER really update their slot machines to the newer ones EVERY OTHER Indian Casino in the state does on a regular basis. The place is a Slot Machine Museum!  Bear River in nearby Loleta is the only "go to" Casino/Hotel in Humboldt County by far.  Please get your act together in this regard Blue Lake as it would be much more convenient to stay there instead.

Spider infestation...  Bitten by spiders when stayed here!!   Infection caused emergency room visit within a week.   Notified management just to have them negligently pass to insurance to call me a liar and that it didn't happen there.... WHAT HAPPENED TO BEING RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR ACTIONS?  CFO Brad Johnson spoke with one tongue, but misrepresented the situation, now I have a $2,000 emergency room bill and have to hire an attorney just to make them accountable for what they did to me!!!   Witness and photos evidence gladly provided, but insurance just denied it...    NEVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL, unless you are wanting to inspect the variety of poisonous spiders on site.   SCREEN windows broken and cobwebs all over building... LOOK FOR YOURSELF!!!   Notified LOCAL HEALTH DEPARTMENT !!!

Any place is safer than here.

Okay, I never thought I'd be compelled to review a casino... I don't even gamble, so I can't speak to that part. But we really had a very nice time here. We were attending a wedding in the Sapphire Palace, and so it made sense to get a room for the night. I've attended events in the SP before, and they really do a nice job. The staff is very helpful, they set a beautiful room, and it has its own little bar.  After the wedding, we all went to the lounge for karaoke and it was great . Drinks are reasonable and the service at the bar at least (the waitresses wouldn't come near us for some reason) was very good.  I was surprised by how nice our hotel room was, very new and good size. The hotel staff were all friendly as well. In the morning we had breakfast (not a buffet day) and again I was surprised by how good the food was. I wouldn't mind doing it all again for a concert or event. We had a great time, and no driving.

Gambling sucked, but that is okay.  I should not have gambled.  However , are at Alice's Restaurant and got raw chicken, and most of the food was Luke warm at best .  The brie Mac and cheese was a strange combo. The steak was salty.  The hotel , although fairly clean, reeked of pot smoke .  Smelled it all night and left the next morning with the smell in my nose and on my clothes.

Trashy is the best word to describe this place.  Look around town at their advertisements and events they promote.  You can hardly breath inside because of the smoke smell and staying home in my living room is way cooler than going to the Sapphire Palace and hanging out with DJ Leonard -- Come on Humboldt, you can do better than this!

If you don't look like you're over 50 you will get carded numerous times by security. It gets quite annoying, frankly. If you talk to the head of security about their policy regarding multiple requests for identification they will tell you "the fine is more than what the customer brings in." Rude customer service. No employee has people skills. Make you feel valueless as a result. AVOID if you like being treated like a human at a hospitality venue.

When I heard this that was it, complained to management, and left.

Casino: Slot machines are outdated beyond belief. Though they have a nice selection. They do not have roulette which is disappointing if you avidly go to casinos and enjoy the better odds of roulette. No waitress came around and asked me or my girlfriend for a drink the 4 times I have been there.

I've been out to this Casino several times (see previous reviews) to while the night away with friends and karaoke.  But this was my first experience staying at the Hotel.  The lounge/bar is surely an upscale option for those wanting something different from college life at Humboldt.

I've not really messed with the Casino.  I'm bad luck (or just smart), but I have looked over the shoulders of friends while they dreamed of being high rollers as they slammed their chips down on the Blackjack tables.

The real win here would have to be the resort/hotel portion of the Casino.  Opened only within the last year or so, I stayed here earlier in the season and was really impressed.  From the large sweeping artwork in the lobby, to the cool and funky couches also in the lobby, you are welcomed to a hotel which clearly warrants the short drive east of the 101 for a nice place to stay.

The rooms were clean & stylish, and on par with your more higher end big city boutique hotel.  There is a pool and a nice hot tub.  The latter proved to be a nice evening elixir after days of hiking on the rugged and beautiful Humboldt County coast.

This is a Native-owned and run facility.  This also makes me glad about how I spend my tourist dollars while in Northern California.  There is local Native art (lots of beautiful baskets) on display throughout the hotel.

Options are pretty limited out in Blue Lake, but if you are in the 'hood, do stop by the Blue Lake Casino---and trust me, there are more things to do than throw your money away in the casino.

I stay here when I am on the coast for work and they give me really good rates for being a frequent stayer! I really wish they would give the 5 dollar slot play tickets only if you don't play the tables! The beds are the most comfortable here and I stay in many hotels during my work travels!
The BEST staff member her is Dena! She is always so sweet and helpful! A nice friendly face To see when so far from home!
The slots are fun and I really enjoy the ghostbusters one!
The hamburgers in the bar area are the best hands down!
Everyone should try out Blue Lake!

We stayed at Blue Lake Hotel for a week during our celebration of our son's wedding.
The hotel is beautiful, rooms are spacious and comfortable, and every single one of the staff are so very friendly and helpful.

The food at Alice's Restaurant is excellent and they have a great breakfast buffet on Saturday and Sunday.

We didn't really gamble, but in passing through the casino to go to the restaurant all the staff were very friendly.

The reception for our son's wedding was in the Sapphire Room and it was a really nice place for the venue with lots of room and space for live performance.

We will definitely go back when we are up visiting our son and daughter-in-law!

The Hotel...

My family and I just spent the weekend at Blue Lake Casino and it was quite nice was clean and new the beds were so comfortable I didn't want to leave... lol They have a nice pool and hot tub both clean and very pretty at night with colored lights inside them.. They give you bath and body works soaps that smell wonderful.. :) Staff is wonderful and very friendly...  :) :)

OK downfall....
The Wi-Fi sucks.. None of our laptops or Ipad or cellphones would work inside the rooms.. First we started out in room 136 that was in the very back of the hotel but the next morning I requested a room closer to the office so maybe the Wi-Fi would work for us we were moved to room 217.. UMM NOT!! still didn't work.. lol  We took our game system WII with us for the kids to play the HDMI cords on the TVs don't work they have them shut off on all there TVs boooo! Also no micro/fridge in rooms so left over foods went to waste.. I wish they would spend they would spend that 1.50-2.00 they spend on newspapers everyday and put micro/fridges in the rooms at least some for people staying a few days.. I would of loved to keep milk on hand for the kids....  booo no good!

I would stay there again only because the casino is attached and the gas station is in walking distance so you can buy liquor for ur room so u don't have to spend 5.00-10.00 for a vodka with a splash of cranberry and get a cranberry with a splash of vodka.. :)

So The Casino...

I felt like it was pretty fair.. I won quite of bit of money on slots.. I played black jack and broke even and the dealer Khloe was such a doll face she taught me how to play and treated me and my boyfriend wonderful.. The lily pad café is ok food if that's all u have.. lol I wish they had pancakes for breakfast.. :)
Also I wish there was a smoke-free part of the casino still cause I hate all the smoke in there..
When I go to the area I will for sure be visiting the casino again... :)

We stayed at the casino after driving all day through the Redwood forest and wanted to stay somewhat close. The front desk staff had great customer service. We were checked in within 10 minutes. The room was spacious and modestly decorated. We wanted to eat and then gamble a bit so we started at the restaurant, Alice and had a great steak dinner. As for the casino, the guests were mostly low class clientele. We did win $100 on slots, but only spent an hour playing. Once back at the room, the guests staying next to us were so loud we had to bang on the wall. Overall if we were in the area again we would stay somewhere else.

We've stopped in to eat at the Lily Pad Cafe on our way through and have had awful food both times. Both our Cheeseburgers were undercooked and I couldn't even finish mine. Our chicken strips were way overcooked and hard as a rock and the fries were discolored as if they need to change their oil. We left feeling unsatisfied and grossed out :(

We stayed in the junior suites and the rooms were fabulous.  The staff was incredibly nice and helpful!  I liked the cleanliness and the fact that the beds were soo comfy! I would definitely stay there again!

We won a package from hsu for a nights stay, slot play, and dinner.  We booked for my mans birthday and were excited for the timing. We had no idea the hotel from check in would treat us like a burden.  Check in removed all coupons from the key card folder. We noticed because our friends received it right before us.  We enter the room and it's different ( smaller ) then the room in the pics provided by the casino and hsu . I called down stairs but they say that's all they have available. We leave our room and go to have dinner. Hostesses were nice and accommodating.   We have eaten dozens of times at the casino. My husbands onion soup was half the serving it usually is. He showed waitress and she shrugged it off and said it's depending on  the size of the onion.  She didn't go ask anyone even when he said he's had it numerous times. I asked for a treat for his birthday. They do not do birthdays now but she said she would bring him Ice cream with a candle. Nice... Until we saw it was added to the bill and he doesn't even eat ice cream.  We then played in the casino for a bit. Fun. Then in our room as we got ready for bed my husband asks me to smell this random dried stain on the bed.  Disgusting. It was either dried poop or a dried discharge! We had just  pulled the covers to go to bed. We called and a manager came to offer us a room change.  We now enter the exact suite from the picture that they say wasn't available.  We called the next day to talk to a manager as our request went unanswered. This was not the fun weekend I expected when booking our room. The manager on the phone instead of offering to redo our weekend offered a upgrade to the suite when we book again. I'm not going to pay money to see if I get a clean room . That's not acceptable. The hotel barely apologized. It felt like this is a normal for the company.

TOO MUCH SECURITY

This casino was soooo much nicer than we expected! We picked this over another one that came recommended, even though we were pretty sure the other local one was nearby and much nicer; long story but we mostly wanted to check up the less nice one. So we decided to go with the one that had four pictures on yelp (two of which are gross onion rings). The other casino has TONS of beautiful pictures!! Well, that's because the security here won't allow you to take pictures. Of anything. And they are everywhere!

I asked if I could take a couple of the slots gaming room and one security guy said "no, they want everything (machines) kept secret", which is silly, because some people will go to a certain casino, just to play a specific game. I know that you can't take pictures of tables because you can't do that anywhere, but someone needs to call the marketing department at this casino and telll them to have an employee take some pictures or something. They must lose so much tourist/driving-thru business.

The place was pretty empty for a holiday weekend. It was nice to not have to fight over the machines we wanted, and drink service was attentive (free hot chocolate!) But I think there were more security than players.  It just felt like they were breathing down my neck. And I promise I'm not trying to cheat on the penny slots, just have a good time. It made it hard to have fun when you're being watched constantly from someone so close by.

We would definitely check out the other nearby casino if we were back in town, but this one really surprised us with how nice it was, so don't let the lack of yelp pictures scare you off.  You do have to pay for your beer though - no complimentary drinks while gambling.

Had I known I would have to walk through the smoky casino to get to any of the hotel restaurants I would have stayed somewhere else. They also forgot my morning wake up call.  On the positive side, the food at Alice's was good and the girls working the front were accommodating and really nice.

Terrible room service!!

My friends and I rented a suite for a bachelorette party and in the morning called for room service...

**When asking if, in addition, to our food orders we could get a side of toast and fruit we were told by room service that if we want fruit we can pay $15 to go to the buffet downstairs. Also, the menu doesn't specify how the eggs come with breakfast and when we asked for our over easy they told us we couldn't make any adjustments to the menu.. Apparently you HAVE to have them scrambled.

**So then they brought an entirely different order to our room that we sent back for the correct order. About 30 minutes later we were still waiting for our food, so we called the front desk and about 10 minutes later received our food. We ordered 1 scramble and 2 chicken fried steak with a carafe of coffee. The chicken fried steaks didn't come with gravy and the scramble didn't come with the side of toast that it should. When we called the front desk they said chicken fried steak doesn't come w/ gravy, but that they'd bring us some anyways. Umm... What?! Lol! Also, the food was cold once we received it. The young lady delivering the food was very sweet. She made sure that b/c of our trouble we were able to get our eggs over easy and with a side of fruit. When we complained about our wait of an hour and a half to get our correct order she said she'd send the manager up to our room. About 10 minutes later the manager called our room instead of coming up and ended up comping our food with little apology.

** I normally would only give 1 star, but the young lady delivering the food was very sweet and apologetic. Also, we did get our food comped even though that didn't make it worth the experience and mediocre food.

Really loved staying here. The hotel was great. My only qualm was the waitress at the restursnt Alices. I stuck a fork in my to go box (mind you I'm staying at the hotel and had the intention to return it in the morning) and the waitress Susan came over and opened my box and and took my bag away with my food. She brought it back with plastic utensils which was great but I'm now concerned about the safety of my food. She should not make customers spending $70 on a meal feel concerned for the food safety. I will never eat here again and I'm very dissapointed in her behavior. Oh and additionally she took the check from my bf as we were still sitting at the table. He hadn't realized that she had bothered me and tipped her $11, which i was not going to let happen. Id of given her $0.

Stop #6 ... Needed to finally call it a night from our 12 hr drive on our wy to OR...

We tried to check into the hotel, but they said we would get a discount if we went to the casino and got a players card (card is free and we get $5 game play $$). Awesome, so off we went to the casino. Collected our card and decided to get some food before hitting the games (that's my next review). After eating we decided to gamble a bit. Of course my babe decided to hit the tables and I wandered off to the slot machines. Long story short, we lost the little bit of money we did play with, but it was fun and entertaining. Nothing special about this casino. They dont offer comp drinks to the players, lame, and it didnt look like anyone was winning anything.

Exhausted from our day, we checked in, the room was pretty cheap. It ended up being $109 plus tax. The room was clean and nice. The bathroom was quiet large and so was the room. No smoking in the rooms and they will charge you $250 if your room smells like smoke. There is a balcony, but no smoking there either, lame. If this review was for just the room, i probably would have given the hotel 4 stars, but since its for both, i couldn't do more than 3.

Everyone working at both the casino and hotel were very nice, minus the douchey guys working at the service counter where we got the players card from. It took them 5 mins before they choose to acknowledge us, even though we were standing there right in front of them. The Hotel is Not a bad place at all to stay. Waste some money in the casino, eat some food, drink some drinks and rest up for where ever you're headed next. Only thing i did not like about the room is the door that can join your room to the next room. i could literally hear the people next door through the doors and that made me a little uncomfortable. If i can hear them, then they can hear me.

It's somewhere different to go when you want a meal. Lily Pad Cafe is decent and prices are fair, free drinks, and it's been redone in the last year. Alice's Steakhouse and Sushi aren't too bad either. I think both eateries are cleaner and better than Sunset at Cherae Heights that's for sure. The smell of cigarettes is pretty off putting, but it's fun sometimes to put in a dollar or two and see what happens in a machine

Tight slots and the food at Alice ' s was marginal at best.  The only thing that was cool was the free parking and the bathroom was clean!! My hubby and I will not be back :(

BLC is a nice location,  hotel, and casino. I am only disappointed with the casino game staff during the day time. The table  supervisor "Denise " lacks customer service skills and would rather socialize with dealers with no players than open tables that people would like to play and would keep the dealers working. So should I wait 1 1/2 hours for a preferred table to open or drive to another casino in the area. Guess I will have to choose. .....tables were handled well last night and restaurant was worth returning to.

The hotel staff members were exceptionally pleasant. The room was very clean. My buddy and I shared a standard room equipped with two comfy queen beds. Our room came complete with every hygiene necessity. I had forgotten my tooth brush (like an idiot) and the staff gave me one free of charge. We also asked and received a sweet mini-fridge, to keep our beer and leftovers chilled for our two night stay in the beautiful Humboldt redwoods. This was also free of charge. There was a fully functioning air conditioning/heating unit, as well as a solid coffee maker that was easy to use (I hate fiddling with those things while hungover). The best part of our room came unexpected. There was a 3x5 ft balcony; an answer to our prayers, if you catch my drift..
The jacuzzi was open until 10pm every night, but the pool was closed indefinitely. This was probably only a seasonal closure though, because we stayed during a chilly January.
I'm not much of a gambler, but the casino was nice.. There was a somewhat odd crowd, but then again that's any casino for ya'.
The sushi/steakhouse restaurant was pretty good actually. After reading the reviews we didn't expect much, but after filling up on their porterhouse steak and a couple sushi rolls, my friend and I went back to our room completely satisfied.
The hotel is also very close in proximity to Trinidad State Beach, which is absolutely breath taking. The park has cool unkept trails, which makes you feel more adventurous. This is one of my favorite views on the coast of California (that's coming from a NorCal-bread surfer too).
I had a blast on this vacation, much had to do with the hospitable Blue Lake Hotel and Casino. I can't wait to return!

Friendly staff, clean rooms, good room service and downstairs restaurant/bar..A good stay for my first time in Blue Lake, with no complaints. Other than the fact that the walls are paper thin...there's nothing wrong with this Hotel. BUT... be aware that you might hear some noise...that's not "family" friendly. It's a small sacrifice for a super comfortable bed, good water pressure....attentive housekeeping...and nice people.

Basing this rating on slot play/table games..Seriously bummed that the attendance is low and the slots/tables dont pay. Hearing other regulars complain about this as well.
Dont know why this has been happening but my honest belief is that BLC has been on a decline for months. Maybe its time the gaming commission stepped in and did an investigation again.
Keep it up BLC and you're just going to be another tweaker filled hell hole.

The rooms are nice and super clean, but the walls are paper thin. The first morning the kids in a neighboring room woke me up at 6 AM watching cartoons and that night I could hear a neighbor snoring.  The staff was exceptionally friendly though.

The casino is pretty dated. I wasn't a fan of any of the slots. They were tight and antiquated.  Some of the machines actually take change if that tells you anything.

The service at The Wave bar in the casino is not good.  The music and the atmosphere was good but  we had to try to get the attention of a bartender  to get a drink.  Finally one of the bartenders told us it was rude to wave at the bartender to summon a drink.  Wait. WHAT?
We shouldn't have to wave at s bartender when our drinks are empty!
Other than that our stay was just ok. The room was nice.
Overall though, service was not good. Definitely not the usual  Humboldt friendly service that most local businesses offer.
