    3.75 stars..

So I promised myself to start staying at nicer hotels but what could I do?  I'm a girl on a budget, and the trip was last minute (plus, i wanted to spend my money on other things--like shopping :)).  I decided on expedia.com to help me find a decent and cheap hotel to accompany my (broke) sister on her first official grown-up job interview.

I first dreaded going into the room with fear that it would be like the Ramada Limited in Anaheim (see prev. review).  But it was actually a bit more than decent, very clean, and checking in/out was speedy.  I purposely chose this place for the microwave and fridge (for left-overs--didn't I say I wanted to save said mula on shopping?), and I was happy!  Although I coulda sworn expedia said they had a gym, too, but the desk said I must've been mistaken.  (What a waste of luggage space!  I didn't have to bring my sport bras and running shoes??).

The only real bad thing was on the day we checked out, the housekeeping team decided to vaccuum the hall right outside of our room at like, 8:00 am!!!!  Hello!!  Couldn't they have waited till 9?

All in all, it was a nice experience.  Although I wouldn't have minded staying on the better side of town, closer to the beach & where the store windows weren't protected by gates!!

This was my base of operations for last weekend. The rate is slightly higher than I usually like to pay, which is somewhat odd given it's location, but all in all, this is a fine place to stay.

Located on Long Beach Boulevard just south of Pacific Coast Highway, there's not a lot going on in the immediate vicinity. You're across the street from Metro stop, sure, but even without the train, you'd need to drive anywhere of note. There are a couple of OK options within walking distance, but otherwise, the streets are somewhat scant of diversion and entertainment.

The parking situation is a hoot. If a single car is parked in the registration unloading area, no one can get to the above-ground parking area. And the main level of the garage itself fills up super quickly. So chances are you'll have to park below ground, under the swimming pool, and in the tightly twisted confines of a parking areas designed to safe space -- not to be driven. I had to back up and repoint the car many times in order to just make it up the out ramp. Bonus points for building beneath the pool, though!

The hotel itself is nice. The staff at the front desk is friendly, if a bit slow. The rooms are clean and spacious. And the house staff responds well. When I requested a crib, it was delivered within 30 minutes or less. And other than the linens from the bathroom being taken but not replaced -- and our room not being cleaned in the four hours we were out midday -- I have no complaints.

Oh. No free wifi. There's a computer online in the lobby, but you can't use thumb drives or anything to transfer files. Best bet is to find a nearby Starbucks.

Nice. Just wish there were more going on in the immediate area!

Please note: This one not listed but is on PCH in Long Beach and called the PCH Club Best Western.  It is awful!  Door didn't lock, electrical outlets for coffee didn't work, counter tops hundreds of years old, worst of all: THE BED SINKS ON THE ENTIRE LEFT SIDE!

I wanted to give my daughter and son-in-law a break so took the 3 grandkids to the Long Beach Aquarium for the weekend.  Cost took priority over tranquility and resort amenities (since there is no tranquility with 3 kids under the age of 8), so I found a $99 rate online and went for it.

The hotel was easy to find on one of the main drags and considering its location, there was little noise heard  in our street-facing room (or maybe I couldn't hear any over the noise of the boys).   We had all the requirements for this group:  a spacious room with lots of floor space for playing army men, fast food and ice cream places nearby, pizza delivery and big comfy beds for jumping on.  There was WiFi for me (although it was frustratingly unreliable--there were 5 connections but only 2 that had strong signals, and on those 2 the speed would cut in half or even lower while I was online).  There was a frig for storing leftover pizza and a microwave for heating same for breakfast (cost effectiveness, remember?).  The pool area was basic but served its purpose, housekeeping was spotless and the front desk staff was friendly and acccommodating.   All in all, the hotel met our needs for a reasonable price.

This hotel is in a bad area that discourages anyone venturing out after dark..The rooms/halls smelled strongly of cleaner/disinfectents..pool water was green and the view from our room was of junked car parts piled up...GROSS experience!!! DO NOT spend your money on the hotel..

Worst hotel I have been in a while.  The bed was incredibly old. Please buy some new beds.  When you sit or lie on the bed you end up in a taco.  Lamps didn't work and towels smell.  I wouldn't stay for free.  Counter staff seemed surly. Except one guy who smiled.  Next time I'm spending the extra for a real bed.

I'll give it three stars because it's the definition of "okay" for what it is: a low to midrange hotel in a mediocre neighborhood.  It's not particularly bad but it doesn't stand out as being good either.

The upsides to the hotel are:

    1.  There's free wifi (it was slow sometimes and fast sometimes)
    2.  The room is clean
    3.  The rooms are big
    4.  Breakfast is decent
    5.  There are microwaves and fridges in the rooms
    6.  The service at the front desk was always helpful and prompt
    7.  There are actually a few decent food options within walking distance and the train is right across the street if you plan on using that

    The downsides are:

    1.  The neighborhood is definitely not nice
    2.  The rooms are a little dated (ie, no white comforters, old TVs, weak AC, etc)
    3.  The elevator is incredibly slow
    4.  The parking seems to be plentiful but it's a very tight squeeze in a bunch of spots and a bad driver or a big car would definitely have a bunch of issues
    5.  The floors and ceilings seem to be quite thin (I could hear every step being taken above me -- luckily I happened to be on the same schedule as whoever was above me)

Overall it was an adequate place to stay but I only ended up there because priceline put me there and I don't think I would go back unless I really needed to be in that area.  They need to refresh the rooms and fix the ceiling noise (if possible) for this to be a four star or higher in my mind.

I booked this on Priceline as a name your on deal so unfortunately I couldn't check the reviews on Yelp until I was already assigned this hotel.

The bedding and room in general were clean, King sized bed was nice and comfy.  It was a little concerning that the in-room coffee pot was still full of water (just water, not coffee), who knows how long it was there?

It's not in the greatest neighborhood but there is a gated car port to store your car, although I'm not sure what time it is locked.

I did hear sirens at some time in the middle of the night and around 1:30 or 2 am I was woken up by a clanking sound. Another guest and I popped our heads out of our door to find that someone was "working" on our floor. I called the front desk and his excuse was "Oh, it's the vending machine guy, this is the only time he can work on it. I'll try to ask him to keep it down."

    WHAT?!?! NOT cool.

The whole reason I booked this room was to be closer to an out of town interview and I had planned on being well rested for it. Sirens and "men working" on my floor at 2am is not cool. Any place that would allow noisy work to happen during sleeping hours doesn't deserve my business again.

After taxes I paid just under $70 for the room, so I guess you get what you pay for.

On my recent "USA TOUR", I had the pleasure of staying at several Best Western Hotels. The Long Beach, CA location was stellar! Close to everything ~ LA, Long Beach, Malibu, and the airport. Customer Service was impeccable, the staff here is so welcoming and helpful.    I had no reservation and called in the middle of the day and was told to "come right over" and when I did, my room was ready and my loooong day was redeemed!  The room was comfy, clean and fully stocked with all amenities ~ fridg, microwave, hair dryer, iron, ironing board, a large tv and yummy, clean, fresh linens on a fat, comfy bed!  The "Make Your Own Belgum Waffles" and the rest of the breakfast area was amazing ~  Yogourt, fresh fruit, coffee, milks, bagles and muffins, etc...

Thank you, Best Western, Long Beach, CA, for a relaxing and fun 3 days!  Plus, not matter what you may hear, this area is friendly, clean and I NEVER hesitated to wander outside the hotel for food, laundry, or shopping. Really great stay!

What ever you do.  Save your money and dont stay here.  To start with the rooms were decent.  The beds are pretty comfortable.  The biggest problem with this best western is that you can here every foot step above you.  We checked in late at 4am, went to sleep like around 430.  We were awakened by to foot stops of what sounded like sasquatch at 730 and the noise didnt stop till about 930am.  To top this off the hotel cost us $110.  Last but not least, WE CALLED THE MANAGER AT THE FRONT DESK,  AND HIS RESPONSE WAS THAT ALL THE ROOM ARE LIKE THIS IN THE HOTEL.  Please save yourself the stress and get your moneys somewhere else.

Roach in the bathroom. Weird smell in room and carpet felt damp. Breakfast was a joke. drinks watered down. eggs overcooked. Too expensive for what you get. Free shuttle to cruise terminal is the only good thing about this hotel. Can't give zero stars.

When it comes down to it, this is good hotel in a bad area.

If you are visiting Long Beach because you want to see what southern California has to offer and you won't have a car, then this place is a bad option. Find something closer to downtown, the convention center, or the water. Trust.

However, if you happen to work for a penny pinching company that sends you out on a SoCal business trip and is willing to rent a cheap room, rent you a car to drive to work meetings, and let you walk the streets for a local meal with pimps, prostitutes, and meth heads - then by all means, give this place a shot. No "gun pun" intended.

The staff is helpful. The rooms are spacious and clean. There is a plenty of parking (for the car you will need to travel safely in this 'hood). And in the main lobby, they offer a computer for all of your Internet needs (other than porn).

Have fun. At your own risk.

If I could leave half a star, I would have. My kids couldn't take a bath because the tub was very dirty...then I reached for a towel and...(skip this sentence if you are squeamish)...there was a big, green hairy booger on the towel!
The bed was ok but with only a sheet to cover me and my hubby, we were cold.
To top it off the kid a floor above us kept running back and forth like they were training for the next Olympics. Glad it's only one night. Eagerly waiting for check out time!

Although the location was convenient and the room was clean. That elevator, the only elevator in the hotel. Was EXTREMELY slow. The hotel is 4 levels high. The wait for the lift was a good 3-4 minutes. One time during this stay the elevator jerked while going up. #planaheadfortheelevator

Ive stayed here a number of times, always bidding on Priceline and never paying more than 50.00 a night.  Totally worth it.  The "hood" isnt as bas as everyone says.  We basically use the room to sleep.  The beds are fine, the rooms are clean.  Ive never had the breakfast, we usually go out.  Do yourself a favor, bid on the airport area of long beach on Priceline, you'll most likely get this hotel or the Holiday Inn on Atlantic.  Both worth it for less than 50.00.

This is a Best Western folks not a Hilton, Raddison or other 5 star accommodation. It is a cheap, reasonable place to stay. It contains the necessary things that I require in a hotel. 1: Bed (this is mandatory, no exceptions made) 2: TV (not mandatory but nice to have) 3: Internet Service (not mandatory but darned close in this day and age) 4: Shower (absolutely mandatory) and a breakfast with the room (very nice so I don't have to venture out into the hood.
OK so that's what you'll get let me clear up a couple of things, "The hood" as some others have referred to is not that bad. It isn't Beverly hills but I grew up around here and its actually improved!! The rooms are spacious and clean the beds are comfortable. The reason its four stars? The staff. We (all 18 of us using 6 rooms) went on a cruise /wedding) and the staff took care of us magnificently! They provided 2 shuttles to haul us and our ton of luggage to the ship and back when we returned. We were a pain to them I am sure, camped out in their lobby like a bunch of refugees at 10 in the morning after returning from the cruise but they never complained and when we were going to the ship they stopped the shuttle at a drug store for us to pick up some meds we needed. Like I said, the hotel was nice the staff was magnificent!! Would stay here again, simple fact I can get a room anywhere service with a smile and no attitude is a rare commodity!!

Location, location, location!! Everything was 15-20 minutes away :)
Hollywood, Huntington, the Home Depot Center, & probably a lot of other places that start with an H ;D

This hotel was cheap & convenient.
    The negatives?
    1. The 'breakfast' was pretty awful, but for the price, that was expected.
    2. The slowest elevator on the face of the earth.... yes, this is where it resides. There is only one, it's slower than molasses on a cold winters day & it will probably be full to the brim. Be prepared to get real close and personal with your fellow hotel guests :)
    3. The front desk peeps. They are professional & cold.... the words 'friendly' or 'helpful' just don't come to mind,,, especially friendly, lol. There was 1 exception. I got to speak to the night shift front desk guy once & he was actually nice.

Heads up! This hotel kind of doesn't have a laundry area. At least it's not in the hotel itself. There is 1 washer & 1 dryer available to hotel guests & it's located in the parking garage where you're kind of just out there feeling like you should have brought some mace or at least a witness, lol. I'm sure it's safe, but if you need to use it, use the buddy system ;)

I wouldn't recommend it. I booked this hotel through Travelocitys secret hotel deal. We paid roughly $60 a night so we thought we were getting an awesome deal until we showed up...
It was in the hood! Train was right in front of it, so their we're crowds of not the friendliest looking people, around the hotel.
When we went to check in, the front desk people were horribly rude.
A plus is that they had a parking garage so at least we knew are car wouldn't get tampered with (Well we hoped). Our room was on the 3rd floor, elevator was slow as can be. Got up to our room and keys didn't work.
Rooms were decent, beds were alright. Rusted over chrome handles in bathroom.
Our 2nd night staying the maids walked in on me and my boyfriend undressed! NO KNOCK NO NOTHING! How embarrassing! Later that night I called for more towels and they told me to come down to front desk...seriously?
    Key cards continuously didn't work.
Breakfast was so-so I didn't eat it but I checked it out.
I only give one star because I definitely will never stay there again.

so i spent my weekend here and I was first out in a room then moved into another one. Unfortunately i lost my watch in the room i was before. And it was something important to me, so i went to the desk to ask if they can check the room. They said their were already people using the room so I would have to wait for the Manger to search for it in the morning. So the next morning my mom went to ask Marcus the manger and he took care of everything. we were on a time limit because we had to leave right away so he ran as fast as he could to the room and found it and gave it to my mom right on time. I appreciate what he did for me  that watch was a gift from a dear friend and it was very expensive. So thank yo Marcus. Plus the rooms were super nice and clean, the staff was nice and actually showed interest into the customers. Also i love the breakfast...Biscuit and Garvey?? So yummy

The room and facilities were fine. I would say that it is more on par with a nice motel than a hotel. The complimentary continental breakfast was nice. However, the bed was only dressed with a sheet and a thin blanket...in winter. We called the front desk and they only had one extra blanket available. SoCal is pretty warm all year but winter is still cold enough to warrant a real blanket. All in all, it's fine if you're looking for one step up from no frills.

Not a 'terrible' experience.  Won't be staying there again though.

    PROS:  underground parking, breakfast, wifi

CONS: 1.  one elevator that is SLOW (take the stairs)
    2. when asked front desk for wifi password was spoken to like a child, brought down computer and card from desk and lo and behold...wasn't there.  Didn't appreciate being talked to like I'm stupid (I'm a software engineer...)
    3. NO WATER PRESSURE.  Here's a thought:  take out the water regulators from the shower heads so people can get in and out in 10 minutes instead of the 30+ minutes (and MORE water usage) it takes to just rinse the shampoo out of hair.  Totally ridiculous.  If you plan beach time - don't book this hotel for that very reason.; will take 3 hours for a family of 4 to just rinse the beach off your bodies.

The hotel is being renovated (it really needs it) and I'm totally all for that, but a fair warning from the staff that there's rooms full of stuff in the halls would have been great.

**Lots of reviews about it being in the ghetto - truth.  But I never ever felt unsafe there. It's not a prime location, but it's not an unsafe location.**

We stayed here for a couple nights during the ING Long Beach Marathon. I thought I had booked the convention center Best Western, which we stayed at last year and loved, so we were pretty shocked when we pulled in. The neighborhood leaves something to be desired, but it wasn't *that* bad. The microwave was very old but worked, the fridge froze everything we put in it. The staff was very friendly and the beds were comfortable. I would have rather stayed at the convention center Best Western, but I'd stay here again.

We got this room through one of those "mystery" hotel online booking sites with a super cheap rate.  We were really happy with the stay, except the location as it's in a somewhat sketchy part of town.  In addition, here is a tip: ask for a room away from the road.  The first night we were there, we were assigned a room towards the street.  Oh my.  It was so noisy that we slept terribly.  We then asked for a room towards the back after the first night, and it was much better.  The hotel itself is very nice.  Our room was big with a king size bed, microwave, fridge, and the bathroom was spacious.  They also provided free parking and very good breakfast that included waffles, eggs, biscuit/gravy, etc.  When we get back, we'd be happy to stay there again.

I am a fan of this place.  Too be frank, it is not an ideal location.  Like I wouldn't just walk around to "take in the sites."  For instance, they provide garage parking, which I would require in this area.  But, if you can brave it/ risk it/ can't afford anything else, this is a really good hotel.

I had a friend book it, so I never looked into it and I was taken aback by the location.  But when I got to the desk, they upgraded my room, because they could. FANTASTIC! Spacious and clean suite -- pull-out sofa  in the adjoining living room (incl. a full and empty mini-fridge for leftovers).  And then when I had to leave a night early, they changed my reservation no problem (no change/ cancellation fee).   Super attentive and friendly staff.  It's the little things they add to overcompensate for the things they cannot change.

All in all, a very well managed hotel.

This hotel ROCKED! The room was really nice! Me, hubs, and our crew of kids stayed here and had a great experience! The staff were so nice and helpful! The continental breakfast was great with lots of options which rocked because I eat gluten free and they had fruit, yogurt, boiled eggs but also lots of bread options for the kids and hubs! It was also very clean and nice and just perfect for a large family that didn't want to spend a million dollars to travel. Plus our room came with a couch that had a queen bed inside which was perfect for a small crew of children.  They also had a pool that we didn't have time to see plus why would we being so close to a beach!! The area was fine I have lived/visited areas scarier then this. Also they had a microwave and refrigerator inside the rooms which is a plus when you are out of town. Also house keeping is excellent!!! I would definitely stay there again! The only con was the one elevator it toooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooook forever!

Apparently they aren't too anxious to have me back.  This place seems unsafe at night, though I could be wrong.  There is nothing worthwhile within walking distance for food, though the train stops right out front which may prove convenient for some.  The rooms were not bad, but they weren't great either.  They did seem clean which is good.  The breakfast SUCKED!  The milk wasn't warm, the cereal was stale.  There was no microwave to warm up biscuits for biscuits and gravy and the gravy tasted like wallpaper paste!  The oranges were sad and shriveled and the apples the size of a very small plum.  The OJ and bananas were good though, so...there's that.  Nobody was rude, but nobody was friendly either.  They advertise on their site that they provide a free shuttle, but it should note that the shuttle is free to those that book directly through the hotel.  If you book through Hotels.com or Travelocity.com , you get hosed for a $10 fee per person!  I have experienced worse, but there is nothing about this place that will cause me to add it to my list of reliable and desireable places to stay when in the Long Beach area.

My experience was alright; we simply stayed here because it was a reasonably-priced option on the way to Los Angeles. The area isn't great, but it didn't bother me that much, and my opinion about the area doesn't have any bearing on my rating of the hotel. The staff were great, and provided us with any information we needed. The hotel didn't look great, and I didn't like the general feel of it. Overall, my opinion of it is average, but it's somewhere I would stay only if I had to.

We stayed for 3 nights and loved the service, beds, and continental breakfast. The hotel was very clean and beds were comfortable. The shuttle service to the convention center was convenient and timely. I left something of value in the room and didn't realize it until the day after we checked out. When I called, Theresa was able to locate it and mail it to me. We will definitely be back!

We were here to get on a ship the next day. If you stay one night, you can park your car cheaper than the port. It is clean but the free breakfast was waffles, Danish, cereal and gross looking hard boiled eggs. Our bathroom door needs some maintenance because it won't close and the wifi was spotty and essentially non-existent.

It was what we expected, but don't take the metro that is right across the street. It was a little scary. We had a pair of homeless drunks get on and start arguing. Pay for a cab.

It was dirty all over looked like someone got killed there and was dried up blood room 227 was so disgusting!  I will never stay there again.  The area is also ghetto I had no idea it would be based on the reviews. The 1 star is for tue breakfast but I stayed at best western before and had better. The shampoo was not shampoo felt more like water made no difference in my hair no lather. No towels when I asked for more and a toothbrush they said I had to go down there and get it myself!!! Wtf. And then middle of the night a women was yelling to let her in her room across from us. There were roaches everywhere the rooms haven't been vacuumed in weeks the sheets were dirty the bathroom was disgusting
I don't recommend this hotel to my worst enemy or anyone at all
Please find a hotel somewhere else any hotel but this one
Thanks for taking time to read my true review of the best western owned by sarath mizpaspe of irvine ca

This hotel gets one star ONLY because the staff is SO extremely nice!!  They are truly fantastic.  They really do try hard to make it as nice of an experience as it can be. And I was glad there was a computer with a printer in the lobby because I needed to print something for business.  BUT..............

I'll address safety first.  SERIOUSLY UNSAFE.  The hotel (and elevator to the rooms) is open to the general public via the parking garage all night long.  Since it is located in a very sketchy area to begin with, and right across the street from the metro line, I had some major concerns.  When I realized no one needs a key to use the elevator, I became extremely nervous.  Had I not been traveling with my 6'4" son, I would have eaten the money I had spent on this prepaid room and gone somewhere else because, seriously, any bum on the street can walk into the elevator and go to any floor in the hotel.  If people would have needed a key card to ride the elevator, I would have felt quite a bit better.  One morning we got into the elevator and it smelled like urine. Gross!!

However, once in the room, I was more disgusted!  There was space for other patrons to be able to see under the doors so we had to use towels to block passers-by views.  Yes, they would have had to lay on the floor to look in, but who knew what kind of people were roaming the halls when we were sleeping.  The bathroom was a sty.  The shower head was crusted with scum.  The hair dryer had black scum on the handle.  And there was a couple of dirty towels left in our room (one had make-up on it and was hung back on the towel rack).

The refrigerator did not work.  We called to have it fixed.  The maintenance guy was quick and efficient, but the fridge never worked for us.  Good thing we brought a cooler and could fill it with ice.

We never ate at the breakfast.  It ended well before we were ready to leave in the morning.  And I don't know how one reviewer rated in getting cookies, but there were no cookies to be found when we arrived (not that I would've wanted to trust them anyway).

The Wifi was ridiculously slow.....painfully slow.

We paid $100/night and I was sick thinking I had paid that much for such a DUMP!  DO NOT STAY HERE!  If you are partial to the beach, stay in-land, pay less, and drive to the beach.  If you need to be close to the downtown/civic center area of LB, pay the extra and stay somewhere with better security.  This is not the Signal Hill from when I was in HS in the area, that's for sure.  I will never, under any circumstances, stay in this hotel again.....they couldn't even PAY ME to stay here.

Stayed here for four days for a conference in Long Beach.

The good: Friendly service; decent breakfast; clean rooms; good maid service.

The bad: ONE ELEVATOR (takes FOREVER every time you want to go downstairs. This is an old VERY SLOW elevator. It matters, and it gets old quickly if you leave the room a lot.  Parking is REALLY tight (referring to distance between spaces)...and I was in a sub-compact rental. It's that tight. Lastly, the area around you is not very safe.

I would book the Best Western Plus closer to the coast/convention center.

The staff are nice. The parking is good with an underground garage. The room are decent size but the furnishing and fixtures are worn. The complimentary breakfast is not bad. All in all if you can get a room at a discounted rate this is a good place. I would never pay their stated $132 a night for a single non-smoking room. Go to priceline or hotwire. Get a discount, this place is worth the discounted price.

It is in an urban area but I walked 4 miles to the beach every day of my visit. I was never concerned about my safety. I'm a minority but so maybe urban isn't much an issue with me. I can tell you that I drank a bit too much once. This hotel was perfect distance from the downtown party scene and Long Beach cops are way cooler than most. I'd recommend this hotel. I'm a person who likes value so I'd for sure get a discounted rate but the rooms are clean and the service is quality.

When I was looking up hotels to stay at in Long Beach, I came across this hotel. The pictures of the hotel all seemed like it was a good quality hotel, however, there was a lot of reviews saying it was in the "hood". I was really unsure on whether or not I wanted to book the hotel. The price was good, the hotel looked nice, it was really close to everywhere I wanted to visit, but I was really thrown off by people saying it was in the ghetto! I decided that I would give it a try because the pictures looked really nice & I AM SO GLAD I DID.

When it came time to drive to the hotel, I told my boyfriend that it might be in the ghetto. So, while we were driving, I was anticipating us going through the hood and finding our hotel. When we got to the hotel and I was like "wait.. are we at the right one?" because I did not see anything that was "ghetto" about the drive over.
YES, it's right across the street from a metro station so I did see some "shady" looking people, but I didn't feel unsafe. At night (around 12) we drove to get food and yes I did see some men on bikes wearing baggy clothes, but again, I didn't feel unsafe. If you live in LA, this is nothing. I guess the reviews from people who said it was "ghetto" were coming from people who live in tiny little towns in Kansas. But if you're from LA and have been to cities with a huge variety of people, there really isn't anything ghetto or shady about this hotel.

The hotel is located in a really busy area and it's right off of a main street. The street has EVERYTHING you need from taco bell, mcdonalds, KING TACO!, 99 cents store, target - everything.

I got this hotel for $88 a night, and I completely enjoyed my stay. The rooms were clean, the bed was extremely comfortable, the AC worked perfectly fine, and it wasn't noisy or anything.

If you're on a budget and looking for a clean & safe & comfortable hotel, go for this one.

I am going to have to give the overall experience 4 Stars. I will qualify this by saying that the hotel itself is probably 2.5 Stars. Not horrible but not the Four Seasons either. The neighborhood is typical LBC. You have a mix of everything from tourists to homeless. No different than any other city in America.

Where this hotel earns the rating is convenience. There is a rail station right out front that can take you to the waterfront or anywhere else you need to go. If you are going on a cruise (like we were) their shuttle service both on drop off and pick up was five star. The breakfast was mediocre but I've had better and I've had worse. The hotel served its purpose. I would probably give it a 3.5 Star overall but I cant. So I'm nudging this review up to a 4 star because of the location and the convenience factor.

If yelp would give a no star option that would be perfect but perfect isn't a word to use in this best western location. As soon as I got here I heard fighting around the rooms , I saw two guys fornicating in the jacuzzi, but that's not all there's  ROACHES in the bath room . But if I were to rate how comport able the bed was Id give maybe 2 stars. DO NOT COME UNLESS YOU WANNA PAY $130 TO SLEEP WITH ROACH AND WATCH A LIVE ACTION BATH HOUSE.

If you've never been to this area in Long Beach, you'd probably be quite surprised upon your arrival to the hotel. Yes, this is in the center of the hood. Well, not really the hood. If you go a few blocks down or even a few blocks over, it's a little more "hoodish" but yes - you will see people outside passed out at the bus stop, people walking around without their shoes on, and people walking around talking to themselves. Not once while we were here did we ever experience anyone walking into the hotel lobby who didn't belong there. While outside, I never felt threatened or worried about someone breaking into my rental car. The area seems sketchy if you're easily afraid, but trust me, it's fine. Every time we pulled in, someone from the hotel was outside or in the garage, so it looked as if they do a pretty good job keeping an eye on the outside.

This is in a terrific location if you're not driving or need to be able to get to stores by foot. It's right across the street from the bus / light rail (not really sure what they refer to it as). There's tons of fast food restaurants nearby, a bunch of CVS's, gas stations, and if you take the light rail or whatever, you can get to Walmart and other shopping centers within minutes. If you head a little more down the street past the shopping center, you'll be right on the beach. Great place to jog or just get some fresh air with beautiful scenery.

Best Western has become a favorite of mine ever since I booked with them at Ocean Shores, WA. Breakfast buffet (not really a buffet, but there's quite a few breakfast items to choose from) available from 6:00 am - 9:30 am. Room service is prompt and provides you with what you need in a timely manner. I called and asked for some extra towels and someone was up within 2 minutes. I've waited 15+ minutes for something that simple at 5-star hotels in Vegas.

The room exceeded my expectations. Very roomy and clean. Comes with a fridge and coffee maker, as well.

I would definitely book with them again.

Well we were here overnight for a 4 day Cruise to Catalina and Mexico.
Now the hotel was in an area  that was not  desiring in my taste.  The  was clean, the contenental breakfast was not that great. Waffle iron half cooked however I paid $108.00 would r at herb gave paid this two miles closure to pier.

It's bedt to read the reviews before you book. I fail to so was in a bit of shock and  had to hear wife mmmmm.

We are accustume the 5 star.
I might the  return. But over all clean.

Yipes!  This place is definitely in the more rough area of Long Beach.  The metro bus runs right in front of the motel, but the people watching is entertaining.

Booked the room on hotels.com , which the deal wasn't bad (now I know why!).  Was welcomed with hip hop music playing over the speakers in the hallway.

We had a room with two queen beds, which were rather comfortable, mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, a/c unit and a safe.  The TV was not working at first. We ended up calling for someone to help us out.  A man came and flicked some buttons and was able to get it on, but when he left, the cable box was super loose and kept cutting in and out.  We unstuck it from the TV, and it worked again.  We definitely appreciated the man coming to help.

The walls are SUPER thin!  I swear I could hear people in the hallways on the other side of the building.  Stay on the fourth floor, unless you want to hear people tromping around above you.  Bring your earplugs and bring your own toiletries.

For the most part, the beds and bathroom were clean, but we did find a suspicious black sock on the corner of the room, next to the A/C unit. (ick)

This place could use a second elevator because it was quite busy this weekend, and you can't fit a whole lot of people in the one elevator, especially with suit cases and bags.

I appreciated the under ground parking with surveillance cameras.  Made me feel a little more secure about bringing my new car on the trip.

The continental breakfast is all bread, except for yogurt, apples and oranges.  They have a waffle maker, which I thought was unique for a continental breakfast, assorted pastries and cereal.

Never made it out to the pool, but something tells me I didn't miss a thing.

All in all, I suppose it could have been worse, but I don't think I'll be making another reservation here.

Honestly after reading the reviews for this location I was a little sketchy about staying here. But being that I wouldn't be staying alone and my boyfriend would be staying with me I was little less hesitant on staying here. I did contemplate on changing hotels but I got a great deal from Expedia I just decided to keep it. While driving down the pacific coast highway I got more and more nervous. The other yelpers were right the surrounding area is a little iffy and "ghetto" as they would call it. I agree with that as we drive down towards the hotel and were passing liquor stores and people just hanging out on the streets. Once we turned the corner on to long beach it did get a little better being that the hotel itself has a gate around it and the parking area is gated.

(Parking here although they have a lot of parking spots and an underground garage it does become packed and it's all compact parking. Some parking spaces I found odd but it's better than parking on the streets.)

I walked in to check in and was greeted immediately by two gentlemen and they quickly booked me in and assured me that I didn't have to switch rooms the next day because I had made 2 reservation because I arrived a day earlier than what I was expecting too and Expedia didn't let me change my first reservation. I was nervous that it would be a hassle but it was no hassle at all !  Once unloaded from the car we headed to the elevator which did take longer than normal elevators but it didn't bother me. I got to my floor and stepped out the hallway smells nice and clean and plays what I would describe as elevator music which was odd because the elevator didn't play any music. Once I got to my room and opened the door it smelled and looked clean.

The room itself is a decent size for 2 people. It has a table with 2 chairs. The king sized bed was comfy and the pillows were a bit hard all but one. The floor was clean and the bathroom was clean. I was satisfied with the room. We got all settled in and I went to take a shower the water pressure is nice and the water gets hot fairly quickly. After settling down for the night I noticed that I kept hearing an announcement only to look out the window and realize it was the public transportation station. It didn't bother me too much even though I am a light sleeper it didn't go all night long so it was okay.

The next 2 days went by with no incidents and I was happy with house cleaning and when you place the do not disturb sign they leave a note for you to notify the time they came by to check for house cleaning but didn't clean because the sign advised them not too. Then the third day coming back after a long day my key didn't work which annoyed me a bit due to the fact that I had to go back down in the elevator that took longer than usual to reset the keys.

Other than that incident I would have to stay that I am satisfied with my stay at the best western and will be considering this location if I am in the area again. Even though to get there it is a sketchy drive but on the other side of the hotel it starts to get better. But in all honesty I didn't feel like my life was threatened at any time. I wouldn't walk the streets alone and wouldn't recommend it but I didn't see anything too sketchy either.
