Room was okay, nothing special. Decor was dated 80s.  No name bathroom products.  Clean. Free parking. Pool was closed. Wouldn't stay here again.

Nothing spectacular. The neighborhood is so so and you're kinda far from downtown. But, they do have a shuttle. The workout room was actually above par to other standard hotels.

My wife and I have stayed at many Holiday Inn hotels. The room and amenities are on par with the rest but the service was somewhat lacking. In a previous comment, someone said there was no in room movie access. As of our visit, they have HBO and On Demand service for movies, TV shows, and video games.

They didn't seem prepared to handle the demand for the shuttle service they offered, and when we finally did manage to get a ride to a local store we needed to get to, we were told they would return in 15 minutes but then we were forgotten.

Later we were also generally ignored in the restaurant both at dinner and breakfast, and when I called down to the front desk to request a toothbrush for my wife, they said they would be right up and then a half hour later I went down to find out that they had forgotten to send anyone.

The neighborhood is at least a little suspect, and there was a disturbing amount of police activity all around us the day we arrived. I'm not sure if that's typical or not but it may not inspire you to walk to where you need to go when you can't get a ride on the shuttle.

I thought that maybe they were just extra busy as they seem to have a lot of people in the hotel going on the same cruise we're about to take, but the shuttle driver said it was a fairly typical Saturday. The Holiday Inn by the airport isn't that much further way and we'll be staying there next time.

I stay here for 3 nights total. The room we stayed in had 2 beds, cable tv, ac, the basic stuff in a hotel. The room is pretty clean, they provide you with the usual facial soap, lotion, shampoo, etc. There are also lots of towels! They have a pool too on the second floor.

The only complaint I had was the elevators. The elevator almost ate my friend twice! It sensor-less I believe. So watch out, if you stay there. And I almost got stuck in one of their elevators!

Not really near any local business, maybe for smart and final. you can walk down to broadway i believe there's a vons there. But that's pretty much it.

I probably wont stay there again, unless there's no hotel near the convention center.

It was OK. Front desk person was not rude but not polite either. Room was outdated and I wouldn't want to walk around the area near the hotel after dark.

We stayed here for the Long Beach Marathon since all the other hotels near the convention center were sold out or ridiculously expensive. We were hardly going to be in the room so we thought, let's check it out. Front desk service was more attentive and sweeter than any Westin I've ever stayed in and by signing up for their rewards program, we were given a 2pm check out - very helpful considering the following day's events. They had a complimentary shuttle to take us to and from the center - and I believe it is standard - just subject to availability - however if you are in town for a conference or something big, the shuttle isn't readily available so you are better off renting a car or taking a cab, if you didn't already drive. The room was clean and comfy. I liked that you could call them for a complimentary toiletry if you forgot one. The bedding could use another blanket and two extra pillows. The a/c was off and it was still a little chilly in the room. The only bad thing is the residences nearby with dogs. Two dogs left alone late afternoon were barking at each other and it was a bit annoying. I didn't eat at the restaurant but it looked decent. Parking is a little tedious and you can bottom out your car in the driveway if you aren't careful. You are not going to get alot of fanciness here, but it definitely suits the purpose. And, it is pretty close to the 405 Freeway. I'd stay here again, but maybe request extra bedding and 2 additional pillows. :)

My mother-in-law stayed here this past weekend (7/8 - 7/10) and received HORRIBLE service. She's an older woman and had to tote her own bags up to her room. She standed at the check-in counter forever before anyone even decided to acknowledge her... My neice was afraid to even get into the swimming pool because the water was so murky...  They didn't offer any type of breakfast to their guests either... Shame on you Holiday Inn!!!!!

centered in a very bad area, tweakers and homeless people all over the place. they are doing heavy renovations in the lobby and you have to walk through all that mess to get to the front desk. i would have been fine with it had they given us a heads up but alas, they did not. the room was decent but you can tell needs some updating. it was very loud. we could hear doors opening and closing all night long and people talking well past 3 a.m. When I called to ask for the WiFi password the guy on the phone gave it to me and promptly hung up before I could day anything else-RUDE! The password didn't even work either! The next morning I asked for a 1:00 check out because my mom was going in for emergency surgery at that time and the girl at the front desk was very rude and said we could only have 30 minutes extra. Never staying in this sh**hole again. I will stick to my Comfort Suites thank you.

I'm staying this weekend. I think those who are rating this under 3 stars need to recognize what they paid compared to those 5 star hotels before they bash a hotel.
I didn't want to pay 250+ a night in Long Beach so I stayed here and honestly for the amount of money they charge a night, you can not complain. It has nice size rooms, nice bathroom, a fridge and a microwave (which some 5 star hotels do not even offer in their rooms unless you get a suite) and they have a FREE shuttle service, FREE self parking, FREE gym area AND FREE WIFI!!!!!. What else can you ask for? All the top notch hotels charged for parking and wifi.....They can kiss my tokus!!!!!!You can get anywhere for Free within 3 miles of the hotel with their shuttle so quit your bitching you divas and go pay 250+ bucks before you sit and complain about a great hotel that only costs about 110 a night. I love you Holiday Inn Long Beach. My one and only complaint is that their cleaning service doesn't run after 5pm so if you want your room cleaned than you need to get your butt out of bed before 5pm and let them do the dam thing!

My friends call me the hotel princess, and they are correct.  I rarely stay anywhere less than a 4 star.  However, for this trip, I was trying to be budget-conscious.  For me, this was way below my standards.  There was no business center, no in-room movie access, the elevator felt like it was going to blow up everytime I entered, when I called room service (way before 8pm) they had run out of chicken, and the immediate surroundings are just a bit...'hood.

However, I made the most of my trip.  The hotel is near public transportation, they offer shuttle service in a 3-mile radius, and I was able to jog and walk in the neighborhood--before and after dark--with no problem.  Will I stay here again?  Um, nope!

The staff was friendly but really business like. The lobby and doors coming into the loby were not clean. The elevator was not clean nor was the carpet. The room as very nice and clean. I had an excecutive suite with everythink in the room I could use. Refrigerator and microwave oven they were both clean. The rooms was very hot when I checked in and the air conditioning was not working. It took about a half hour to cool down the room. The area around the hotel was run down but seemed safe. I would not stay here again. But I did get a good rate with AAA insurance.

What a DUMP! Words cannot describe the horible experience we had. For those lucky few who have had a positive experience at his hotel, consider yourself VERY lucky!

Now I'm not one to write reviews unless I am forced to...this is one of them. Walk into the lobby and am greeted by a gentleman at the front desk who was VERY friendly and professional. That was the only positive experience we had.

2 standard rooms were booked through priceline. We got our room keys and proceeded to our rooms.

WARNING: If you are given any room near 347 ....... RUN!!!!!! The room itself seemed fine. Fairly clean. Negatives were the tv had major static and the toilet didn't flush!! I can usually handle little things like that so it was no biggie. What was a biggie was the GHETTO right outside my window consisting of backyard projects with dogs that were changed up in the fenced backyards barking hysterically. I tried to sleep....gave it my best shot but they barked for 20 plus minutes straight!

I called the front desk, complained and requested a room change. A professional hotel would have apologized and brought me up keys to a new room. They simply put me on hold for 2 minutes, came back on line and told me to come down to get my new keys. It was 11pm already and I had to be up at 5am!!

I went downstairs to the lobby and got my new rooms keys. They promised it to be a much quieter room on the street side. I went back up, packed all my crap, moved down the hall and what do you know.....a bunch of 20 somethings having a little party in their room right next to my new room!

Back downstairs I go....and its almost 11:30. Strike 2 Holiday Inn!!

Yet another apology and another set of room keys. This time I was given keys to 219 and what was promised yet again to be a very quiet room with nobody on either side of me on the other side of the hotel. Fine. I just wanna sleep!!!

I walk in, turn on the lights to room 3, put my bags down and swear I hear voices outside the window of my room. I proceed to open the curtains and what do I see??? I am right in front of the pool and 3-4 punks sitting out there smoking. AAAAHHHHH!!!!

I stuffed tissues in my ears, cranked the fan on high to try and drain out the sound and forced myself to go to sleep.

In the morning I met my family downstairs who was in the other room we booked. I asked if their night was as bad as mine....their answer?? "It was ok....except for the 2 cockroaches we killed in the bathroom!!"

None of the above is a lie or an exaggeration. Beware if booking at this hotel!

Luckily my complaining earned my money back for both nights as we didnt even stay night 2. I would rather sleep in my car than at this dump of a hotel (roach hell!)

The staff here was awesome! In a day where businesses have forgotten what customer service is, this place knows. Check in was great despite the drunk dumb airhead who was joking like she was funny when she wasn't checking in ahead of us.  Adrian at the front desk was professional and helpful by the time we got to him. Carissa in the restaurant was equally awesome. She made our dinner memorable. The surrounding area isn't the best but we had no problems. My only complaint was the pool. Didn't seem too clean but i braved it for the kids

I have stayed at many hotels. From a 1 star motel 6 to a 5 star Montage in Laguna and Beverly Hills. For being a 3 star hotel this place was pretty decent and served its purpose for what I needed it for. The rooms are always clean, the staff are friendly. The area is a little sketchy however I have never had a problem while staying here and I always check in late at night. Just make it a habit not to roam around at night and you should be fine. Plenty of free parking (both right out front and underground).

With all that said, I usually book this hotel though priceline where I never pay more then $55 a night including taxes and fee's. I'm not sure what the going rate for it actually is but for $55 you can't go wrong.

Frequent Traveler-This place is the worst Hotel in California; located in the middle of Atlantic, noisy, dark and dank. Bums, pan handlers and characters only cops would like to question, definitely the last time for me. Upon arrival this place is the middle of some remodel; Noisy, dusty and hammering in the middle of the day. So if you want peace and quiet to work, not the place to be.The restuarant, OMG, What a dump....I walk in, dirty dishes and poor service; My room, TV has bad static, the airconditioner is LOUD...I MEAN LOUD!!! The bathroom, the floor feels like it was never mopped. I'm confident full of bateria. Phone room doesnt work, so I'm forced to use my cell phone to call long beach only to speak to someone at the front lobby.

so to sum it up, this place is not recommended and I'm going to contact Hoilday Inn corporate office to give them my feedback...If I can give this plave 1/2 star I would, it's that bad!

Thinking of booking a room here?  Save yourself the trouble and don't.  I admit, I can be a bit of a germaphobe.  I know this about myself and I try not to let it ruin my life, but lines need to be drawn.  I had only planned to stay here one night, but I stepped one foot into my room and said no way.  Putting it simply the room was filthy:  every piece of furniture in the room was disgusting and stained, the floor was not vaccuumed, there was crud on the surface tops, and there was something sticky on the room's little binder thing.  I reserved a non-smoking room, yet the entire floor of the room I had smelled like an ashtray.  I just couldn't handle it.  I opted to leave.  Not to mention, the area that the hotel was located looked a bit shady.

One good note, however:  when I did make the decision to leave, the girl at the front desk was actually quite nice about it and reversed the charge to my card.  I honestly appreciated the customer service, but I just couldn't take that room.

Area....not good.

Hotel...actually pretty decent!! Plenty of parking and underground parking. Nice, clean rooms! Friendly front desk staff, working ice machines.

Rates, average...not too low, not too high. I'd stay here anytime if I need.

Cable, nice bed, fridge and microwave in the room, cold A/C (but a bit loud when it kicked on).

Lives up to the Holiday Inn name!

Really not pleased with how run down some things are there. Stayed there once 2 months straight for work and one problem after the other. This time,  ants in my room and overall filthy carpets. Not what I expect at almost 200 per night.

I'm actually kind of confused why the ratings for this place are so uniformly bad. The room and service during my stay last night were great. I actually accidentally booked a room at the Holiday Inn Long Beach Airport, but when I arrived at the Holiday Inn Downtown the girl at the front desk, Kristel I think her name was, called the other branch and had my reservation canceled and changed to the downtown branch. Yes, the area it's in is kind of divey, but the parking is underground, so there's really no need to go wandering around the in the dark near the hotel unless you actually want to.

The room was very clean and quiet, the shower was hot, the cable worked great, and I slept well enough to get up at 5:30am today to run the Long Beach Half Marathon.

This place would get 0 stars if I could give it. I checked in around 4 on a Friday, only to see the hotel in complete destruction due to renovations. Ok, I get it - the hotel needs to be renovated sometime and it doesn't happen overnight, but I had my newborn baby with me and was ticked I wasn't notified in advance. The clerk went ahead and told us we would not be disturbed because renovations were not going on over the weekend, so we went ahead and checked in. We came down later in the evening for dinner at the restaurant, only to be told at that point that the restaurant was closed due to renovations. Are you JOKING?! We weren't told at check in, drove 6 hours with a baby to get here and now have to drive for dinner. We chose the facility because of the location and restaurant on site. Lucky us, we were offered a shuttle. No thanks. So we drove.
We go to dinner, return with a fussy baby that needs a bath, go into the restroom for the first time to bathe him, only to find they placed us in a king handicap room WITH NO TUB. The clerk didn't ask if this was ok, and I know they had kings available because my in-laws got the king room I reserved for them. I am pretty confident the clerk saw a young couple and figured he could stick us into a different room type for inventory reasons without us making a fuss or noticing. Guess what, we did. At this point, I decided to try and let it roll off. But it gets better - 8 am Saturday morning there is construction outside our door that woke our baby. NO WAY. I call the desk, and the manager on duty says he had no idea about it but couldn't do anything about it. He takes my info for the GM to call me and gives me 1/2 off one night. We left the room about 3 pm that day to attend the wedding we came to town for. When we get back at 8:30 pm our phone rings and its the desk clerk saying there will be construction early right outside of our door and asks if we'd like to move. He claims no cell phone number was on file to call us and he was calling the room "all afternoon." Really? Because I left my contact number with the manager on duty to be contacted by management, and also left it on the reservation info when I reserved the room. And at this point, who wants to move 8:30 with a newborn? No thanks. At this point, I contacted guest relations and clearly stated I wanted a comped stay. What a craphole facility. It's been about a month and guest relations finally replied saying management would contact me within 48 hours. Never happened. They never contacted me at all after my several attempts to reach out to them. I worked at a holiday inn for 7 years as a front desk manager and this place is NOT up to par with their staff, professionalism, or responsiveness. The staff is out of the loop with the renovation, and if such a large scale renovation is happening where the amenities listed online are not available, guests need to be called and informed. Plain and simple. Don't stay here, you will regret it.

The hotel is not in the best part of town and it is a bit outdated. However, their staff is super friendly and super amazing. They go the extra mile to help you. Everyone from the security guard, to the cleaning staff and the front desk, make you feel welcome and they are always willing to help you.

I only paid like $55.00 per night through Priceline.com because my building was being fumigated. My stay was restful and enjoyable. Although the price was very low, I felt like I got a good deal since I didn't have to clean my room, the room was big enough with basic cable, there was a decent swimming pool and jacuzzi on site. Plus, free parking. What else do you really need for $55.00 per night????

It was no Vegas, but it was worth my stay.

I got this hotel on Priceline and was a little worried when I saw the reviews. I was pleasantly surprised! When I got there, the building, the grounds and lobby all looked great, clean and well kept. The area was no where near as bad as some people described. My room was really nice - very clean and very quiet. It had been upgraded and was comfortable (the pillows are strangely small though - I brought my own).

They are doing a big remodel in the lobby, so the restaurant and the lounge areas are all under construction. I didn't hear any noise from it though so it didn't bother me. It will be great when it is done.

I also got free continental breakfast included which I didn't expect (danishes, toast, bagels, fruit) and free wifi. Breakfast was served until 10:30 which was nice.  I parked across the street and wasn't charged the parking fee. They have a free shuttle that brings you places (I didn't use it though). Checkout was 12:00 and they gave me a late checkout of 1:00 which was perfect.

Everyone that I encountered that worked here was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again!

Stayed here using my platinum points since I was attending a wedding on the Carnival cruise ship and since I was a non-sailing guest, I needed to stay at a hotel close to the port and this fit the need. It's not a bad hotel overall. I really feel the rooms and the whole hotel needs to get renovated and refurbished because it's really showing its age. The elevators from the basement parking were painfully SLOW going up and down.

Not sure what other reviewers saw to deem the area as being shady? It seemed fine, and I wouldn't expect it to be any nicer considering its proximity to downtown LB and it is in an older part of town unlike the area around UCLB which was somewhat nicer.

Wifi was okay, a star for free parking although most hotels outside LA itself do offer free parking but regardless, kudos. If you're looking for a hotel to stay at for its proximity to the LB port or you're gonna be cruising and you're not from LA and need a place to stay prior and after the trip before your flight/drive back home then the Holiday Inn LB downtown is an okay place to stay. =)

I can't believe I haven't written a review of this place yet. Congratulations holiday inn long beach, I will always remember my stay here... Because it was probably the worst hotel experience (wait, second worst) I've ever had.

My husband and I checked in after attending a party. It was late on a Saturday night. Now, this hotel is not in a great area of long beach and we were made to feel even less safe when we drove up and noticed a large group of young people loitering out front. An when we parked our car in the garage, there was a car idling by the elevators. Get away car???

When we finally got to our room, one of the first things we encountered was a cockroach. Welcome to long beach, I remember your cockroach problem well! Gross, but not unmanageable. Then, turns out, our room is facing a residential neighborhood where two dogs are barking their heads off. To top it off, the pillows in the room were SO SMALL! Seriously, they were the size of throw pillows. Unfortunately I am a light sleeper and I couldn't deal with the dogs so we called the front desk and asked to be moved to the other side of the hotel. They didn't have another king size room so we had to switch to a double queen. Mind you, this is all taking place at 1am...

The next morning when we checked out we were exhausted.  Neither of us slept well due to the tiny pillows and all of the dead of night commotion. when we were asked how our stay was we told them all of our grievances. No one offered any compensation whatsoever and the guy even had the gall to tell us those pillows were new!

Will never ever stay here again and I advise you not to either, or any holiday inn since it appears the tiny pillows have been implemented in other holiday inns as well!!

I immediately regretted my hotel selection when we drove into the parking lot. Horrible part of town. Limited parking. But once we got inside it was actually really nice. Newly renovated. Comfortable beds. Very clean.

The gym is in a glass room, at ground level, that opens to the street - no kind of screen or filter on them - so everyone can watch you work out. There's a bus stop right out front to give everyone a front row show. :-/

-The carpets are stained, in the hallways, the elevators, the rooms.
-The lobby furniture was taped off so that it couldn't be used.
-The room had grime in it, I had to wash my hands after touching the wall.
-When I checked in on Foursquare, the first tip was "do not use the hot tub."
-The toilet did not flush.

I left before staying the night, even though I had been traveling for 16 hours and was completely exhausted, because I did not feel safe, clean, or comfortable in this hotel. I received no refund.

The hotel manager, Kristel Packard, was hostile and defensive when I asked for a refund. Offering me absolutely nothing, not even, "come back, since you're paying anyway," (I had left by this point), she maintained that there was absolutely nothing wrong with the hotel (how can you resolve anything if you deny there is a problem) and maintained that she would absolutely not give me a refund. The least offensive thing she said was "I'm sorry you feel that way." Firstly, I don't believe for a second that she was sorry that I was upset. Secondly, she could have said "I'm sorry that you had an unpleasant experience at our hotel."

Weirdly, the manager kept insisting I was basing my opinions on Yelp reviews I had read, especially the one in particular that called out the room I was supposed to stay in (creepy). Um, no, Kristel, I didn't look up any reviews until AFTER I was in the dirty room, feeling uncomfortable and sketched out, and my complaints were that the toilet didn't work, the carpets were stained, and the hotel room was dirty. Pretty sure I came to those conclusions without the help of the internet. But I guess it's easier to maintain there's nothing wrong with the hotel if you ignore what I'm actually saying and focus on a semi-relevant problem you can answer.

I don't like slamming places, or individuals, especially on the internet, but I don't know what else to do. The Holiday Inn headquarters doesn't care that Kristel treated me badly or that they basically stole money from me (since I didn't stay there one night). Charge me one night? Sure. Make me pay the fees you paid to Orbitz? Whatever. But give me the remainder, honestly! What are you charging me for, for making a commitment to stay there 4 nights? I'm being charged for my commitment, not the actual services? The hotel was nowhere near fully booked, when every other hotel in town was fully booked because of a conference. Unbelievable. This is thievery.

I felt like I was in that Travelocity commercial where the father books a pool vacation and his daughter is bouncing around in the water-less pool. I was staying in a seedy motel (seedy, from the management and the amenities) at hotel prices.

When I left, the cab driver told me that so many of his customers complain about that hotel, and there are always problems with it, and that they should "take care of their business." Later, a different cab driver told my boyfriend that we should call the police, since they stole our money. Sorry driver, doesn't work that way.

Who would've thought that staying at a Holiday Inn would be so risky, with such terrible amenities. The customer service I received was extremely disturbing from a "hospitality" field - I'm actually more upset at how mean the manager was than the loss of all that money.

We stayed here for a night in mid October. Construction work is still going on in lobby, but it was not problematic. The hotel building is old but they are doing a good job of upgrading it.

Location of the hotel is not great, but people who wants to take Cruise from Long Beach port, this is really good location. Couple of good things, they have courtesy shuttle running in 3 mile radios so Long Beach Cruise ports has free ride. Also hotel provides with long team parking charging $10/night. This cheap as compared to parking @ port at rate of $17/night.

Due to construction work going on, the main restaurant is closed. Hotel management was nice to offer free breakfast for the guests.

The walls are ridiculously thin here. I heard every door open & close within 5 rooms of me on each side. Also, housekeeping came in at 7:30 am trying to clean the room. I understand I didn't put the "do no disturb" sign up, 7:30 is a bit much.

I will say the rooms were clean though and the beds pretty comfortable, but it definitely wasn't worth the $109/nt they charged us for the place.

I experienced a little trepidation about staying here after reading previous reviews, but it was near where we needed to go, and since we are not familiar with Long Beach, we decided it was worth a little risk in order to avoid driving around getting lost the next day.

There was a lot of construction going on, but you can't hold it against a property for doing much-needed renovations, and it really didn't interfere with our stay. Front desk personnel were great; friendly and welcoming (as in: trotted out the free bottled water and large basket of complimentary snacks), and even advised us that if we parked off-property, ie., the other side of the sidewalk, we could avoid the $10 parking fee. OK! The room was fine. The beds were really comfortable and although the pillows were oddly small and square, they were nice and puffy and there were 4 per bed. Yay! Babygirl liked the toiletries that she snottily informed me were like the ones they sell at Bath and Body Works (in other words, not the cheap crap I buy at Walmart).

Really, the only downsides were the bare minimum number of towels provided, they actually closed the hot tub at 10 (security came around and politely kicked us out at 10:05), and you get "free" breakfast only if you pay more for the room (WTF?). I booked the room for 3 people, but it only included 2 breakfasts, so we had to fork over another 10 bucks. Oh well, at least the buffet had all-you-can-eat bacon, so I did, AND, it was served until 10:30, which is about an hour later than most places and a welcome perk to slumbering fatties like us. Overall, we were perfectly happy with our stay.

It's nice and quiet. Even though the Holiday Inn is still being remodel. Once you walk into the lobby it's so nice and clean. Love the decoration better than before. The rooms are also nice with a nice firm big bed to sleep in.

This rating is averaged based off two very different hotel stays.

My first stay 1 year ago was perfect. I got a great deal on Hotwire. The room was clean and comfortable. I was more than happy with the accommodations, amenities, and the staff was great. 5/5

My most recent stay was very different. Again, I got a great deal through a bid on Priceline. The hotel has been undergoing renovations since my last visit. Our room had a small list of problems. The two major ones on the list were the broken a/c and the toilet clogging up from no fault of ours. The remote would turn the tv on, but not off. And you could only surf the channels going down not up. Last issue that started just before we left, the tub stopped draining properly. We had maintenance in our room at least 1-2 times a day. The staff, especially Adrian, were friendly and tried to be as helpful as hey could since we did not want to switch rooms. Had the room from hell, but the staff deserves some credit.  2/5

I'm sure we'll stay here again. Hopefully it will be better.

It was a nice hotel, good size room, friendly staff. Had a few ants in the room but wasn't a big concern. Easy drive to the beach. The only thing was the place is surrounded by homeless people in the evening. So I wouldn't feel really safe walking around to enjoy the night seen with the kids. Other than that, it was nice.

The WORST customer service in the whole world!
The TERRIBLE service makes it worth you drive to ANY other hotel that has around! The attendants were trained to make you lose your patience and try to make hard your entire life!
Special credits to the non-social employer: FRANKIE!
Out that the cleaning of this place is definitely not their strongest point!
Don't waste your time.... RUN AWAY!

The staff here are just phenomenal...worked every thing possible to fit my needs and worked out the best price with parking and breakfast.
Thank you everyone for the wonderful experience.
The room very clean and updated beautiful colors.
Bed was a lil hard around the edges almost hurt myself due to the fact I didn't expect it.
Bathroom very nice clean...a tad small but I'm just picky though.
Room service take a while if you need extra pilliows but she worked hard finding them and apologized it took so long.
Again the staff just wonderful
The breakfast is actually very good...omlets very fresh and hot made to order.
Kind of odd that they don't have complimentary coffee...least the hot coffee....kinda sour on hotels that nickel n dime on things like that...its coffee cheap n easy and nice free offer to have...Just saying
The location is very close to downtown and the water....kinda sketchy area however under ground parking is a plus.... they are still remodeling but hope they keep the fountain looks more classy :-)

Got a great deal on hotwire for a night stay here. We arrived at Midnight on a Wednesday night. The gentlemen behind the counter was a super help. He helped with the bags and had someone delivered in my room. Gave a local tour of the area. Room was big and clean. The bed was comfortable and bathroom was big. The sink is outside the bathroom. We enjoyed the stay. We stayed on the top floor facing the rear. It is true you hear dogs barking at all times of the night/day because of homes that have them nearby. We turned on the FAN on the AC to filter that out. Rugs on the hallway was worn out, but I didn't care. Not sure of the area since I'm staying inside the hotel which is secure.

We booked through Hotwire so be careful if you're bidding on  3 out of 5 star hotel in Long Beach area. Hotel was 'OK'. Room felt a little stuffy, furniture was dated, and appliances were pretty old too. I will note that they were in the midst of some serious renovations when we were here, so hopefully it'll be much nicer than what we experienced.

They have a breakfast buffet, which is hard to swallow at $10 per person but it was comped to us due to the construction. Parking is also typically $10 per day but it was comped.

Some good things:
- Front desk was very responsive. Personnel was very good.
- Free WiFi
- For a dated hotel, the rooms themselves were very clean. Bathroom felt nice to use.
- shampoo and conditioner were usable, it didn't feel like the watered-down type.

For a quick in-and-out stay, I would have no reservation recommending this hotel. Any other reason, I'd suggest looking elsewhere.

While the hotel is undergoing some pretty major renovations, the staff did all they could to get one around. Another reason for only two stars was the slow check in, which probably had to do with the clerks answering  guest's questions and accommodating guest's needs. The elevators are excruciatingly slow and there were no signs on my floor directing me to my room and the layout was weird. Hopefully issues will be resolved with renovations. Located next to St. Mary's Hospital, a bit out of the way in a fairly sketchy neighborhood. For me, a bit overpriced.

I am going to send a letter to Holiday in about that!! That's what I call customer service!

I am literally only giving this hotel 1 star because I can't give zero. This place was terrible from the start. It was our only option because we were in town for a convention. We travelled 6 hours to get here and arrived an hour early. They wouldn't let us check in early, fine. That's policy. Whatever. But they tried to downgrade our room. We reserved a deluxe and they tried to give us a standard. We came back at 3 when they said the room was ready. We get to our room and the maid staff had just began cleaning our room. The next morning we were needing coffee and something to eat before the convention. We waited 25 minutes for muffins and regular drip coffee. That's absurd, and the girl working was so rude about it. Now this morning, my boss and I went down to get coffees for everyone else. The line wasn't terrible and different nice people were working. It took 30 minutes to get 4 coffees. Insane. They were making people after us orders before my boss said something. THe girl poured burnt shots of espresso into all the coffees. No apologies.  My female coworker went to the bathroom in the lobby and a male manager came in and started cleaning without announcing his presence. And made no apology for being in there when she came out of the stall.
Then we had no choice but to order something to eat before leaving, as the only other option was gas station food. It took 45 min to get fruit, bagels, and breakfast sandwiches. I was so hungry I smothered half the bagel in cream cheese and ate it fast, mentioning to my coworkers it tastes stale. I went to eat the other one and noticed it had specks of mold all over it. I was shaking I was so mad. No apology was made so I demanded my $3 back. There were no managers to be found any time except the bathroom incident. We will never stay here again and I suggest you don't either.

BUYER BEWARE: They refused to honor my reservation!

I booked "Two rooms and two double beds" through Priceline.com for myself, my fiancee and my mom. Upon arriving the place was a zoo. Tons to people trying to check in and only one person there to help. Why did they not have a full staff at 6pm??

When I finally got to the front desk I was told that what they had on their books for me was one room with two beds. I explained that that's not what I had reserved and showed him my printed reservation that clearly stated "Two rooms and two double beds". He went to on explain that it's Priceline's fault and that he "Can't give me a free room". He offered to double the price I paid in order to get my reserved rooms but refused to honor my reservation.

My fiancee then decided to talk to the man at the desk and found out he was "Adrian, the Manager"! My fiancee insisted that Adrian correct the situation. Adrian then told my fiancee to call Priceline himself to fix it, at which my fiancee responded that that's HIS JOB. My fiancee walked away to give Adrian time to make the necessary calls and came back 30 minutes later to find out that Adrian had not made the call or any effort to correct the situation. When asked why Adrian responded that he was "helping his customers". Aren't we your customers Adrian??!

After waiting in the lobby for about 45 minutes we canceled our reservation and had to drive over an hour away for overnight accommodations. I STILL have not been reimbursed for my reservation.

The shady Manager, Adrian, doesn't have a concept of customer service, didn't honor my reservation, didn't attempt to fix it, and didn't manage his team or hotel well.

I booked reservation online, ended up having to cancel reservation due to my father became ill, and rushed into emergency surgery. I STILL CANCELED A WEEK IN ADVANCE! When I called to confirm cancelation, front desk lady told me no problem should receive a credit within 3-5 business days. 14 days go by, call to follow up, was told because I booked online with a discount, therefore I lost $313 dollars! Have worked in the Hotel Industry, I can not believe my EARS! Adrian Guest Services Manager, should go thru compassion training. WILL NEVER DO A HOILDAY INN PROPERTY!

I travel somewhere around 180 days per year and I have been doing so for six years. Needless to say, I stay in a lot of hotels. A lot. I don't ever write reviews. Staying in this hotel forced me to write a review.

This is not the sort of place where any civilized person would want to spend any extended amount of time. This hotel seems like the place where a TV character would take a prostitute. Everything from the lobby, to the elevator, to the hallway, to the room screams low-rent. Luckily, I'm only staying here one night and I'm using points. If you are using your hard-earned money to stay here, may god have mercy on your soul.

This place sucks.

I've never left a review on a hotel and I'm only leaving this one because the experience was so bad.

Pros- within driving distance to the beach, kind of nice looking, HBO... That's about it

Cons - $10 day parking fee, sketchy neighborhood not safe to walk around at night, no continental breakfast, wifi is TERRIBLE (can places still buy dial up??), no fridge,

We stayed here during Christmas 2014. We had a unwelcoming hostess at the check-in desk who was in a hurry to run home. A guy named Arthur immediately jumped into the scene to make our checking happen quickly and smoothly. This guy was great in explaining everything and helped us by waiving parking fees. He made us feel the guest is very important.

Coming to the room part, the experience was very good as usual. Standard amenities. But comparing to the double beds in other holiday inns, this place had very small beds to accommodate 4 people. But overall a good experience.

I came here for a conference and it must have been the deer in the headlights look that I had but I was impressed by who decided to offer some help. Three employees passed by me completely ignored me, however, the one person who truly went out of his way was a housekeeping gentlemen by the name of Cristobal who was leaving for the day. He pointed me to the right direction, led me to the conference room, and he even reassured me that I was still on time. He didn't have to do any of these things, he could have gone on his way but he stayed a bit longer to help a stranger. Thank you

This place is great. I don't have a huge expanse of experiences with Long Beach hotels but I have traveled extensively for both business and pleasure. This hotel has clean, updated rooms that are worth more every dime paid.

The staff at this hotel are wonderful. I got great directions to local venues ie walking to the beach. I was given so much information to meet my needs. The hotel provided free shuttle services. I got rides to and from the airport, to other places. I know where to get the best long beach certified t-shirts because of the employees of this hotel.

I ate in their restaurant. My breakfast was tasty, filling and pretty good. Their onsite gym is wicked good. Ample free weights, a bench and multiple cardio machines. I'm a 24 Hour member but this gym was more than sufficient.

I can't say enough about the staff. I would recommend this hotel to any traveler to this area. I spent Christmas day eating breakfast there. It was a memorable experience.

This place doesn't tell you everything up front how it really is. They have a really nice lobby that give you the impression your room will be new. The room is okay, I think the bathroom/sink are very old school. I give it a low rating because they tagged the tax on my card the next day. No refrigerator. I wouldn't stay here again.

I felt my stay at this Holiday Inn lived up to the experience I expected from a mid-range hotel.

I got a good deal on a Saturday night though a popular booking site.  One unpleasant surprise at check-in: they wanted to charge me an extra $10 for parking per day.  I usually try to filter out hotels that charge for parking.  A little back and forth with the staff resolved the issue:  I would join their frequest-guest program and they would waive the fee.  They were kind enough also to allow an early check-in.

The room was comfortable but cramped.  A king size bed filled most of the room.  An arm chair, desk chair, desk and armoire filled the rest.  There was no closet just a nook for your suitcase.  The bathroom was fine.  The room was clean.  The linens and towels felt nice.  The television offered a decent selection of cable channels including HBO.  The wireless internet was easy to connect but service was slow.  I wouldn't try streaming anything but you can check your email.  No extra charge for internet.

The hotel does not offer "breakfast included" unlike many hotels.  There is a small restaurant that opens for dinner and breakfast.  I didn't eat there but it's a convenience for those who want it.

The neighborhood directly surrounding the hotel isn't very friendly: I wouldn't feel safe walking around alone after dark.  It's close to Long Beach's downtown. That could be a plus for some: it's a short drive to the tourist friendly areas downtown and by the waterfront but not within easy walking distance.
