Used it as a bridge to our cruise trip which departed from Long Beach.Awesome package: 1 night stay and they allowed us to park for FREE for up to 14 days + FREE shuttle from/to the docks. Can`t beat it for the convenience factor. There is FREE Internet downstairs,a gym (pretty basic) and a pool. Not fancy at all but very effective for the dollar spent. We`ll stay there again,if in a similar situation.

This place is tall and round with a restaurant/bar on top called Panorama Grill. This bar is a place where someone could get into trouble for sure! I saw a lady walk out of there with a magnum of vodka hidden under her coat. Hopefully she was going back to her room and not to her car. Anyway, who woulda thunk the crazy partying was happening far above the clouds of the LBC.

Okay, here's the thing. I love mid-century architecture, and the prospect of staying in what is clearly a testament to that influence has always led me to consider staying at this Holiday Inn. Well, as fate would have it, we needed to stay away a day from our home and it happened to be the weekend of the TED convention in Long Beach. Every downtown hotel was either going for a fortune or booked. I thought that this was the perfect option for one night.  I got in late and was tired enough from work to go to sleep fairly quickly- I am also a pretty heavy sleeper. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of my boyfriend.  As a light sleeper, he was bothered by the TREMENDOUS NOISE made by the 405 freeway.  It doesn't help matters that the sliding glass door that leads to a 8 inch deep balcony (why bother?) only partially covered by a drape. The other half simply has a sheer curtain covering it-Great sound buffer!!!
This place would have qualified for way more stars had that not occured.  The room was clean, the staff courteous and an easy check in and out. So, for those of you considering this place -  ASK FOR A ROOM AWAY FROM THE FREEWAY.  Cheers!

Our hotel room wasnt bad except that the housekeeping department never brought our extra towels we requested n also our dryer and our iron didnt work so great, also the panaroma restaurant was the worst food ever i dont know whos the executive chef but their food was by far the worst food i ever eaten... my prime rib wasnt cooked at the proper temperature i order and also my wifes pasta was by far the worst it didnt have no flavor at all the pasta was over cooked , and for the prices they offered you are better off eating across the street at spires

I stayed at this hotel over 20 years ago. I was 8 years old and my family and I were on our way back home from Disneyland. We lived in San Diego at the time. Anyways, we were so tired that we stopped at this hotel and crashed for the night.

I remember loving this strange round hotel--except for the fact that I  lost my brand new pair of Minnie Mouse earrings.

Anyway, my point is that this place pops up in my mind as a place of refuge. After two days of trying to find a decent hotel in the HB/LB area to stay at (EVERYTHING WAS BOOKED!!!) the Hotel Motel Holiday Inn had available rooms.

We only stayed for one night. But it was great. I watched Little Miss Sunshine on cable, ordered room-service (really really good salmon, a bottle of wine, and dessert), showered and crashed.
For the weary traveller that is all we want: bread and a bed.
AND the room rate was very reasonable. Come on, I was weary and didn't want no Motel 6 or Super 8 status, ya know what i mean?

Good props for the Holiday Inn Long Beach Airport.

Stayed for 2 nights w/ wife and kid. Check in was quick, actually early. No problem from staff. We stayed on 5th floor w/ 405 about 300 feet away. Was not a bit of noice from it in the room. Asked for extra blankets, hand delivered in 15 mins. Pool was not available, they were filling it up. Enough balconey to stand and smoke outside. Got a few looks from hotel staff at ground level. Bed was VERY comfy, bathroom was a bit cramp. But dealing with unorthodox round shape of building, bathroom gave up a bit of space. Ice machine on our floor was empty/broken. fixed the next day. One note, the lobby and first floor was confusing to get around and cramp. Suppose it was from the round design. Meh, just weird i guess.

Happy Hour up high the elevators creepy.

But happy hour snacks are free and was sushi.

The drinks were strong the service was great.

Was not crowded.

Good place to go while waiting for your tire to be fixed across the street.

I stayed here for one night over the weekend. It was the closest hotel to the airport that I could afford and had a free shuttle.
Just previous to my trip (maybe a few days in advance) I signed up to be part of this hotel chains Priority Club. I was thinking the advantages wouldn't kick in until I had stayed a few nights through the various chains but I was wrong!! I was upgraded to one of the newer rooms on the 10th floor and recieved 10% off my bill if I ate up in their restaurant (which I did not). The room was nice. Comfortable bed, little fridge, a nice chair with ottoman and a pretty big flat screen tv. There were still some areas that needed updating, the ceiling was that gross popcorn stuff and the bathroom was well a bathroom. Nothing special. Room service was quick and the food was ok. The room was pretty loud though. My room overlooked the freeway and airport. the whole evening I could hear airplanes taking off and landing. I kept thinking wow, how loud would it be if I opened the sliding glass door? So I tried. Oh my gosh. Like sonic booms. I turned on the ac because the room was getting kind of humid and the noise from the ac drowned out the freeway.
The man who drove the airport shuttle was very nice and quick. Too quick. I almost missed him while I was returning my rental car, but he waited!
If I'm ever down in Long Beach again for the weekend I would more then likely stay here.

We came here again for our annual event last night.  Instead of a buffet, this time we pre-ordered our entrees from a choice of three.  Salad, entrees, and dessert were delivered directly to our tables, and once again, the food was pretty good! Check it out for your next event if you want a central location that's not too expensive.

At the ho-tel mo-tel Ho-li-day Innnnn...

It's hard to miss this spherical construction, towering over the 405.

This addition to the Long Beach skyline usually marks the return of my journey whenever I venture south on the freeway or fly in from a Jet Blue bargain destination.

This bar/lounge is one of Long Beach's hidden gems. Complete with a panoramic view, this is the ideal spot to blow off a little steam and chill-ax coming off a long flight from the nearby airport.

The view is a great first impression of our city to visiting friends and relatives. The bar is always stocked by a regular stable of thrifty bartenders and the menu prices are very reasonable.

The elevation makes for a perfect nightcap setting after a movie.

Conveniently located right off the 405 freeway (Lakewood S. exit) buy a pint & wings while the rush hour traffic dies down, but you don't have to limit your tastebuds & play it safe here, try the Ceviche and Calamari.

This place has a pretty awesome happy hour in their hotel bar! It's about $3 for STIFF drinks and free buffet! Every weekday from like 4-6 or something around there; normal happy hour hours. Woo!

The bar is on the top floor with a pretty cool view. The clientele isn't great.. I mean, this isn't where you'd go on a date, or to GET a date.. it's just some middle aged business men from the hotel, but it's nice enough and come on... $3 for stiffys and free food!? Do I need to repeat that or do you get my point?? :)

This place is going to be memorable because it was where our class celebrated the last day of class! The hotel roof bar was FUN, especially since I had secret crushes going on that night (2). Unfortunately, I was a starving student and did not have the balls to make a move on either guy. Now I TOTALLY regret it!!!!! Oh well, maybe they will chase me soon???? LOL. Geez I hate how passive I am. Cute but passive.....

The Panoramic Restaurant was pretty good, and a great view. Totally had delicious Seafood alfredo with huge succulent shrimp, scallops and came out really hot. My friend had the lasagna that was also tasty and freshly made pasta. The calamari appetizer came with great dips and large order. The restuarant itself is pretty nice for being next to the long beach airport but the fake flowers on the table made it sorta unclassy. The white linen tables had parchment paper that actually gave me a paper cut. :(

We've been meaning to try breakfast in the penthouse for some time now, so we figured this past weekend would be great. They get points for having an outstanding panoramic view of LB, however our service was horrible and the food was mediocre at best.
My husband's eggs were were done incorrectly, they brought the wrong toast, and we had to request hot sauce 3 times. Breakfast isn't rocket science; and if you can't remember an order, please write it down. We won't judge you.
The food is reasonably priced but you can get more bang for you buck at Spires across the street. In fact, there are so many breakfast options in Long Beach you would be better off going anywhere else! We've had cocktails in the bar before, I would recommend that over dining.

:: Review for the lounge ::

What a sad, sad thing.  A lounge with a view like this could be an epic experience.  I had always wanted to have a drink up here and wish now that I had left it to my imagination.

We walked in (4 of us) to find a lady with her kid sitting at the window. Not that a kid shouldn't be allowed but it was a buzz kill.  We had raced here to make sunset.  It was sterile and cold and quiet as hell.  I am currently on a strict budget due to the f'd economy and the fact I haven't had a raise in 2 years... so when I saw $8 on the martini list, I decided against a martooni - even though that is what I really wanted.

So the guy and I order 2 regular no-frills cocktails.  The bartender waved the bottle of liquor over each and stated "$16 dollars please".  WHAT?? Are you F'ing kidding me?  $8 in a bar that is totally empty, with a view but no atmosphere, with a silver pot full of WTF happy hour food, and you are charging $8 for a drink? Really?

We took our over priced drinks over to the dirty window, tried to pull up the window shade - fought with it - got it up and I sat there watching the sunset with expensive tears flowing into my weak ass drink.

Seriously, I don't know where that bartender that Paix mentioned went - the stiff drink did not happen for us, and the 'awesome happy hour' was a complete joke.  My husband lifted that chafing dish lid and almost puked.

Never again.

This is my 2nd stay at this hotel. The last time was 4 years ago and I am happy to say it was as good as the last. I got here at 9am thinking there is no way they are going to give me a room and sure enough they did! The guy (forgot his name) at the counter was so very nice. The rooms were clean, got my wake up calls on time and the shuttle drivers were as sweet as pie. I didn't eat here but here is a tip... the vending machines are on the even floors. Enjoy your stay!

This is a very good hotel for business trips.
Right by the Long Beach airport.
Computers with printers and internet access.
Comfortable climate controlled rooms
Penthouse lounge and restaurant with free appetizers during Happy Hour - $3.00 well drinks - Great view.
Friendly check-in service.

But the best thing? It's a 14 floor tower landmark that you can use for reference since there are no signs on the big streets that tell you where the damn airport is, no matter how close you are. One wrong turn, and you're headed for the valley. Gag me with a spoon!

The Holiday Inn Long Beach Airport is VERY COOL!!!

The hotel looks weird but it's awesome. The new remodel is a jump up from the old school place it was last year. Loved the fancy new rooms and they have the comfiest beds ever with soft luxurious linens. The hotel is quiet despite being next to an airport. Small bathrooms. The staff is nice

I got the Herb Scallops. They we seared perfectly. Soft and moist on the inside, crisp yet tender on the outside and very well seasoned. Mashed potatoes on top of sauted spinach with garlic in shallow herb cream sauce. Delicious. It's one of those dishes you can't get past ordering repeatedly until your 10th visit. Next I'll try their steak or seared Ahi tuna. It's such a shame that you seldom explore new restaurants except obviously when on vacation and eating out is a necessity.

Aww Valentine's Day...
It is the perfect day to spend a bunch of money on the one you love...
My amazing boyfriend brought me here for dinner last night, the food was delish. It consisted on either salad or soup to start (both were great), fish or fillet mignon for entree (the fillet mignon was amazing) and for dessert either nutella crepes or a pomegranate dessert which were both so good!
What I didn't know is that the evening wasn't over! He had a room and there were strawberries and champagne when we got there apparently also part of the Valentine's Day special... it was great.
The rooms are very pretty, very big, and the bed was very comfortable.
It was a great evening spent only a few blocks away from home!

A blast from the past!

This round tower hotel reminds me of something in an old James bond movie, complete with penthouse restaurant and oddly shaped rooms.

The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms however left quite a bit to be desired.

The odd shape lends itself to quirkiness but not functionality and the mattress was quite stiff, odd for a newly renovated hotel.

The aforementioned restaurant/bar on the roof was quite something as well. I sat at the bar and waited a solid 10 minutes before I was acknowledged (I admit there was only one guy and the bar was a little crowded). On top of that the cleanliness of bar was a little suspect.

Oh well, it's a lot better than some places I've stayed.

You would think that a hotel located next to a busy freeway and airport would have thicker walls/windows.  I had a difficult time falling and staying asleep because of the road noise and then the take off/landing of the airplanes in the morning.

The hotel itself was clean and the staff was friendly.  However, due to the extreme noise, I would not stay here again.

Expect poor customer service. The "Manager" Tiffany refused to supply me with a copy of the check in sheet I signed. This was after she told me they didn't accept cash. So when I asked for the manager she said she was the manager and would not give me a copy of what I had just signed.  What a joke.

Saw Paix G's review, and decided to meet a client here for happy hour. Gotta love free finger foods, and my buddy and I polished off a few pints while enjoying the complimentary wifi while working on a project. The bartender was awesome- great service and really knows his drinks. Staff was all super friendly too.

If only it were socially acceptable to drink here more often. Oh well, I'll be steering clients to stay here when they are in town.

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel. It and old hotel maybe 30 yrs. old. But its clean. Sheets and pillows are clean and comfortable. Housekeeping did a great job of cleaning our room. Font desk was friendly enough to accommodate our adjacent room request.

Old but clean x3 hotel.

Oh and that small balcony for us smokers is a nice touch. You don't see that in new hotels anymore.

I stayed at this hotel on 5/18 for one night.  My room was clean, spacious enough for 1 - 2 people and quite comfy.  The view from my window/patio was decent (of the freeway), which I didn't mind at all.  It provided just the right amount of white noise to help me sleep. The front desk & courtesy shuttle staff were very accommodating and polite. The room also came with a huge flat screen TV, which I didn't use, but seemed larger than what I've seen in other hotels.  The only problem I had was the vanity and bathroom is separate.  I'm usually not comfortable with this setup, as I prefer to exit the restroom fully groomed. For this reason I have to give this hotel a 4, but would definitely recommend this hotel

Ive been staying here for several years off and on... finally wrote review.  A few years ago, it would have been 3 or 4 stars.  The quality has gone down a bit and the price has gone up more than a bit.

The rooms were renovated recently on some of the floors, I think they plan to do them all eventually so some are nicer than others.

The sliding glass doors do not really seal all the way, so there is road/airport noise.  The entry doors can slam loudly sometimes.  the hallways echo.

The food upstairs started out pretty good and has kind leveled off or slipped a bit.  I used to like the Seared Tuna salad, but last time I got it it was a soggy pile of lettuce and ginger, with too much dressing and sauce and the tuna was not super fresh tasting.

the staff is friendly and they try to help out but they seem to accept things this way in a nice but take-it-or-leave it attitude.

There arent too many options, the Mariott is $$$$, there are some other budget hotels, and some nicer ones but not by the airport.

Just a quick comment on the restaurant on the top floor of the Airport Holiday Inn in Long Beach.  I was part of a reunion of several former Long Beach high school students (class of '52). The staff was very congenial, friendly, and prompt.  The manager catered to our wishes with enthusiasm and things went very smoothly.  On top of this the food was excellent, hot, and  beautifully displayed.  On top of all this, the view was terrific. Would I come back here again?  You bet!

I chose this hotel because of the Airport shuttle, it was fast and easy. This hotel is in need of a refresh carpets in the halls are over worn but the rooms are better.  I usually stay at Hampton inns  which have bigger rooms and nicer layouts, this holiday inn's rooms are small, I am on the 9th floor and you can hear the very loud roar the 405 freeway constantly. The hotel is in the flight path for LGB airport.
What this hotel desperately needs are some updated windows and AC unit this could do a lot to cut down the room noise.
The bed is good and the room is nice but nothing special.  Avoid the restaurant as the food is just ok and the prices are high. I tried the rib eye and it was fatty low cut of beef with a very small scoop of mash potatoes and a few veggies for 24$ the water did no refills of my soda and in all just ho hum for dinner.

Mistaken 5:30 am wake-up on a weekend trip meant to be relaxing says it all for this hotel.

Add to this "rude awakening":

The strangest bed pillows I have ever seen.  Here the bed pillows are  tiny - - the size and comfort level of throw pillows.  Called the desk to ask for regular pillows but they don't have any.

Very tiny bathroom.  If you open the door into the bath, it almost touches it - - and you will be hit in the face by the extended shower curtain.

Looks like a few upgrades to modernize this older property didn't hit the mark - - just your face.  And clearly the service is below par!

Well, first of all. My boyfriend came from a long way from Long Beach and needed somewhere to stay, and he booked the hotel thinking it was a reasonable price and fair ratings. Which was the only thing that was open. So on the website it said nothing about a certain age to book the hotel, he came and they rejected him claiming he didn't reach the appropriate 'age' and refused to give his money back. HORRIBLE NEVER BOOKING AGAIN

1 night stay April 2, the rooms are nice, clean and comfortable. Pool is perfect temperature but there is no jacuzzi.

The Penthouse has a great view of city and many screens for viewing sporting events. The appetizer menu is blah and service is not great I say again service is not great!!! As a world traveler I always evaluate businesses on there ability to serve and make customers feel at home.

On the morning of April my roommate and I decided to use the free breakfast vouchers at 6am we were the second table seated and pushed for time. We both ordered food that was simple to prepare like bagels toast 1 egg and fruit. It took 25 min to get to table and was short a few items.

Do NOT stay here.  I had to stay here for 4 days for a business trip.  Dirty, dingy and outdated.  Right off the freeway in a sketchy area.  The room had dirty sheets, peeling wall paper, and cigarette burns in the carpet.  Also, the sliding door to the "balcony" was broken, so bugs were flying in.  They charge way too much to stay here considering there is not even a microwave in the room.  Also, the hotel erroneously charged me $4.00 and when I called them about it, they said it was because I drank the bottle of water provided in the room, which I didn't.  There are much nicer places to stay in Long Beach.  I would rather sleep in my car.

The staff here is wonderful.  I met with Essie Boyd ,Catering Director, to discuss the possibility of bringing my cub scout pack for a summer swim day.  She explained that I would need to book a room in order to use the pool but offered me a great price for a suite (two bathrooms!) and even helped me with ideas on how to save money such as bringing our own food instead of ordering from her.  I could tell that she really wanted my group to feel welcome.  The committee decided to hold this event at another venue with a larger pool, only to accommodate all of the family members who will be joining us.

After a 3 night stay over the holidays, I was happy with my stay.  I didn't use the pool, conference center or restaurant services, however I found the room to be clean and the staff very friendly.  Compared to other options in the area, the price of $100 per night was on par.  The room was huge and the bed was even more comfortable than my own bed at home.  Probably be best thing about this hotel is the location right next to the freeway allowing for an easier drive to various parts of the LA and Southern California area.  4 stars and a likely return on my next visit.

Comfy bed, pillows in a good sized room for My wife and I with our 5month YO daughter. We'd only have breakfast upstairs when we ate onsite and it was very good. I'm not too fussed on how flashy the food looks or not, all I know is I got a good feed:) Friendly staff and great service.

The bartender sou was very nice and very attentive. You can tell he has experience with bartending and the drink was very stiff and tasted great.
The calamari was great too. We had calamri two beers and two good Jim beam drinks and it was only 23 bucks plus 5 dollar tip for bartender.

This hotel was the worst traveling experience I've ever had. I came in to town for a conference (which was amazing) and shared a room with two other ladies. We were splitting the cost of the room. When me and my friend arrived, they needed $100 on a card for a maintenance fee that would be refunded at the end of the stay. The next morning, we realize they charged $1000.88 to the card. Figuring it was a gross mistake, we confronted the front desk, they apologized and said it would be back on the card in 4-5 days. We insisted immediate return of the funds and the money was returned but not before overdrafts began. When we went to check out, my friend's card was overcharged another $1000 and my other friend was overcharged $300. We've now left the hotel and gone our separate ways and they are still receiving charges on their cards. We've demanded a full refund for our stay but the manager is consistently on vacation and unavailable. (On Sat they said he wouldn't be in until Tues.. We left on Sun. Today is Wed and my friend was just charged again... He's not in until Thurs.. Weird.)

In addition to the severe inconvenience to our banks accounts, we were locked out of our rooms every night. After returning from long days, we'd take the elevator up 5 floors, find none of our keys worked, went back down, reset keys, went back up. Every night. We finally just skipped the first trip and would have keys reset upon entering the hotel. (And, yes, we were keeping them separate from cards, keys, phones.)

It's quite a shame to have such a stressful experience when the hotel was intended to be a place to return to for rest during our long days at the conference. The only enjoyable part of the hotel is the bar and restaurant. Very nice. It's too bad our accounts were depleted and only got to enjoy them twice.

One star only cause I have to.

Holiday Inn is conveniently located next to  Long Beach Airport and the 405 Freeway. Free shuttle transportation from the airport or anywhere up to 3 miles from the hotel.

Small lobby with clean and modern room. Rooms are available on ground level around the pool and the large rotunda building in the center of it all. Their conference center is also large enough to host almost anything you can think of.

Overall, A-OK!

My husband and I had stayed here a couple of years back and had a good experience so after we got married and were heading out of town, we decided to stay here on our wedding night. We showed up in my gown and his tux and were told they would not accept our cash as a form of payment, who doesn't except cash as a form of payment??? We were planning on using money we received at the wedding to pay for all of our honeymoon and that included the room. We had to get back in our car and find an ATM so we could deposit some cash into our account just so we could pay. It was a huge inconvenience!!! I also wanted room service the next morning and I was told it was on a slip of paper on the desk in my room, it took me forever to find that paper once we got to the room (the door wouldn't open for a long time either which made things very difficult!!!). After finally finding the paper which was almost wedged between the bed and the dresser (no where near the desk) I saw the price for breakfast, $18 for a basic breakfast and $16.50 for a continental, which was basically a juice, a Danish and a fruit, that is crazy!! We aren't at some swanky fancy hotel, this was ridiculous, we opted to go out for breakfast. The room itself is nice, it wasn't dirty by any means but the whole experience seemed more of an inconvenience!

Stayed here for a week for business . Issues with the hot water in my room but was moved to another room without a problem. Panorama has good breakfast and the bar makes excellent cocktails. My shuttle guys were life savers. A big thank you to Noel! The customer service was great everyone was very nice. My room was nice I had a nice stay here.

Nightmare Holiday Inn!!

Here I am...105 am. No basic pillows I can use to sleep and Manny at the front desk being of zero help.

All they have are body sized pillows...it doesn't seem like a big request but they just can't accommodate.

This hotel is loud, really loud and I requested a room AWAY from the street!! My wife is sleeping otherwise I would checkout of here and never come back.

This review is for the Conference Center. I went recently for a training and wasn't too impressed. The outside looks outdated and a tad dingy but it is nicer inside.

The sounds system was good, and the audio/visual was working. I really don't like the type of seating they have at hotel conferences, my lower back always ends up killing me! It is a little hard to find the entrance to the conference center, it almost looks like you are coming in the back way. I guess you basically are coming in the back, but some better signage would be nice.

My major cons for this place is that the staff barely checked on the water, coffee, creamer and sugar while we were in the conference. If you are at a conference, one needs a boost of caffeine that is not cold and nasty. It woke me up, but not the kind of pick up I was hoping for.

At least the basics were covered and the bathroom was nice.

Horrible stay. Was there for an event and so many items on agenda were messed up by management. The staff itself was adequate and the food was okay, but the management team do not care to provide the kind of service expected for a group. I will not return to this hotel because of that.

Standard Holiday Inn at an airport. In need of a refresh and signs in the elevator and lobby pointed to such happening over the next two years. Rooms were cleaned each day as expected. Staff at front desk was nice at checkin. Hotel bar is on the Penthouse floor--nice bartenders each night we made last call. Should offer something food wise until the end. I was in an extended stay stay of 5 plus days. No issues just needs to be updated.

I stayed at this hotel based on the ratings from Priceline but unfortunately I was disappointed. I felt claustrophobic in the toilet area (it was so small).  The desk chair was torn and looked like it needed to be retired 2 years ago The bathtub was backed up, I called service and the guy pulled out a ball of hair (nasty).  The soap holder in the tub area had buildup (that probably took a few years to buildup). The vending machines in the lobby area were not working. I wasn't expecting a luxurious room but at least a clean one.

We had a really lovely stay with my husband and kids. It's right next to LB airport, so kids loved seeing the planes and view of 405. Very friendly staff, and plenty of parking.
My only complaint would be the small bathroom space rm 911, but other than that it was nice.

I really don't want to give them even one star, the woman in the front desk has a bed attitude. They refuse to let us check in because we're under 21 even we had a reservation, and we were not told when we reserved it. I used to live in Holiday Inn when I was traveling, I won't any more.
