Hotel is clean and modern.  Loved the furniture in the rooms and all the extras throughout the hotel.  The morning breakfast was great and I would definitely recommend it for families traveling with children.  They get to make their own waffles!  It was a little cold but the pool looked inviting to swim in and I could only imagine how great it would be in the summer sitting in the cabanas, sipping an afternoon cocktail.  Hotel staff very friendly and responsive.  Shuttle service for free within 5 miles which was great for the aquarium and CSULB.  I don't play golf but there's one across the street.   Would definietly stay again!  Price value is worth it.

The hotel was great!  Had a suite by the pool, only problem the water pressure is real low.  Enjoyed the pool, very comfortable. Staff very helpful and attentive.  We will be back.

Lovely, chic, comfortable, and convenient. Take advantage of their free shuttle! Drop off AND pick up. ;) I loved the place and will definitely be coming back whenever I'm in the area. Many thanks to the friendly staff and their wonderful manager, Wayne!

Nice little place to stay for a weekend, no one in our group had very much to complain about. It's close to a lot of places to eat (not just the Brazilian place next door), close to the airport, and is overall worth the amount of money you pay for with the group rate we had for the wedding.  Would stay there again if it's convenient for what I'm doing in the area.

Stayed here with my boyfriend last weekend after a desperate search for a room. Town was super busy and we were lucky to get a room in Hotel Current. To our surprise it was such fantastic place. Chrisitna at front desk checked us in, offered us a great room with AAA discount. She was so helpful, told us about hot spots in downtown and arranged us a free shuttle. Room was clean, bed comfortable and shower pretty large. Free wifi was nice, got to play Pandora on my iphone on alarm clock next to bed. Perks like that are great in my book. Continental breakfast was sufficient in the morning, fresh coffee and juice make me happy. Loved this place and wished to stay longer so could enjoy afternoon nap by the pool. Definitely coming back on my next visit in Long Beach. Thank you so much, Chrisina for all your help and amenities and thanks to all the staff.

Older rehab strip type of motel.  Rehab is nicely done, very modern.  Pool and area around the pool appears to be nice if that is what you came to do.

Location - not the best location, on a very busy, noisy street.  Nothing is within walking distance if you are from out of town.  Hotel was very full with many out of town vacationers.

We came to this hotel as we needed a local place to stay weekdays for 5 weeks.  We checked out this morning after 3 nites and have booked at the Ayres in Seal Beach instead!  Another patron stated the shower was "anemic", perfect description!  A fancy large "Rain Shower" head installed in the ceiling.  Maybe with enough water pressure it would have been fine, but it was pretty worthless!  And yesterday the shower wasn't any warmer than luke! Airconditioning on full blast and the room was still on oven.  Washer/Dryer had to wait in line and the dryer took hours to dry anything.  Decided to drop the laundry off at a fluff/fold cleaners.  This morning, the lights went out in the bathroom area and had to get ready in the dark.  When I reported it upon check out, not even an apology.  Nice desk clerk immediately called maintenance and appreciated "the heads up".  Just not what I expected for a response.

Breakfast was okay and crowded.  Overall for the price it was just an okay place to stay.  There are nicer hotels at similar pricing.  I would not recommend staying at Hotel Current.  Read the reviews, too many mixed reviews from Yelpers!  That should have been my clue, I only read the first few!

We stayed at the Hotel Current the night before we left for a cruise.  The room was clean and the staff was friendly.  The complimentary breakfast buffet included waffles which were yummy.  We were able to leave our car at the hotel during our cruise and took the shuttle to and from the pier.  Great place, would recommend for sure!

Yelpsters rejoice! I have an update to my less than stellar review of this "motel". Yes, I already told you guys that the decor is nice. I already told you that the staff was friendly. My last review ended with a cliff hanger because the establishment had accused me of smoking in my room, although I'm not a smoker! Well, in dealing with this major issue (there is a $200.00 automatic charge if you violate the motel's smoking policy), I first spoke with Wayne, the manager mentioned in a couple of Yelp reviews. Wayne was helpful, matter of fact, and easily accessed. He explained the process which led them to erroneously accuse me of smoking. He then referred me to "Diego", the manager who oversees the housekeeping section. Diego was also pleasant, and stood by his staffs allegations. I thought that there was nothing I could do but take them to court, because they definitely seemed to have smelled something in my room, and they weren't budging! Enter the higher management representative, Sherri. When leaving my initial message to Sherri, I mentioned something without knowing it that let her know that I hadn't violated their policy. I won't say what that was, because it could lead to a rash of people actually violating the policy, yet using my "out" as an illegitimate excuse. Suffice to say, Sheri, although dead set to substantiate the allegations, could not because she used "reasonable doubt" management skills. She has agreed to refund the money back to my card.

I cannot give the "hotel" too high of a review because I think that it is in actuality a dressed up motel. But if motels are your thing, the rooms are very nice inside (although the front door had serious gaps and didn't "feel" that safe). I don't really know the surrounding area, but it seemed okay. The lobby was impressive for a motel, and gave the place a hotel feature. I didn't see the pool area. This place is okay, and the staff has integrity which is always a big plus.

Even with a remodeled section, the hotel itself needs to do better maintaining its facilities and rooms.Any of their special rooms are nothing unique.Their bathroom showers literally feel like light raindrops falling on you from a leaf...it just doesn't feel right...but the bed  in the room itself is fine otherwise...Best Western is a better choice.

Decided to fly down to Disneyland, visit with friends and family while staying at the Hotel Current.  I was so pleased with the modern updated decor and accommodations.  Our room was spacious and comfy.  King bed was firm and usually I don't sleep well but this time I did.  I loved the contemporary furniture and bathroom amenities.  It was nice that we were able to keep our drinks cold in the refrigerator.

The best part of staying at Hotel Current is the waffle machine.  You can make your own waffles for breakfast.  Also one night stay allows you to park your car all week while cruising out of Long Beach.  Shuttle services available.  What a perk!  The staff is friendly and helpful.  They printed our our Southwest boarding passes.

I stayed here a few days ago. It's very nice, the pool is clean, the lobby has that modern feel and the guy at the desk was very helpful. Parking is SPACIOUS, not like at some hotels where i feel like i have to squeeze in. I really believe it's the best bang for your buck out there, rooms are VERY VERY nice, the bed is comfortable, the TV and channels are outstanding wi-fi is a given, and the bathroom is really good and not cramped too. And i'm just talking about their basic room. Room is not what you'd expect and they don't stray from the professional pictures on their website either. Knocked off a star for location, rooms facing PCH are quite noisy and the location isn't best either..breakfast isn't anything to jump for joy about but it'll get you through.

We stayed at Hotel Current the night before my daughters' had a gymnastics meet at the Long Beach Convention Center.  I chose this hotel because of price, location, free breakfast and free wifi.  As we drove up, I was a little skeptical as it looked like a really old motel.  Once inside, it was nice.  The breakfast wasn't too much to be excited about, although it was your standard, self serve waffle maker, cereal bar etc.  The rooms had a very modern feel.  A very spacious bathroom is my kind of hotel.  The bed linens were all white which helps calm my nerves of being a hotel germ-a-phobe.  The beds were a little firm for my taste but that's just my opinion.  We will definitely stay here again if we come up for another gymnastics meet.

Stayed at this Hotel for a couple nights. It was one of the best experiences i've ever had a hotel.  Clean, beautifuly renovated, great service, complimentary breakfast, great room service, HUGE pool, wonderful restaurant with glass windows next to pool makes you feel like you are outside when you are really inside.  I just loved it there.  I was actually comfortable sleeping in the beds, sheets smelled fresh and clean. Flat screen TV's in the rooms. Anytime i go to long beach i'm staying at Hotel Current!

My boyfriend and I loved it here!  The room we had was gorgeous.  We loved everything from the layout, the spa tub, the furnishing, to the cabanas by the pool.  We also got a great deal to the aquarium downtown through the hotel as well as coupons for other local places.

Overall, it was a very pleasant experience and we can't wait to go back again.

Without reservation, I can recommend this hotel. When you arrive it appears to be more of a motel, but wait until you walk into your room. When you open the door, you'll find fresh new decor with avant garde fixtures. the rooms are inviting and relaxing. Although my room faced PCH, I slept like a log due to the thickness of the sliding glass door.

The breakfast is clearly European style continental. Translation for the Americans...there are no eggs or bacon. One morning without a cholesterol injection won't kill you. (Hmph...Irony.)

My friends and I decided to stay at Hotel Current because it was listed on the Long Beach Marathon website and out of all our options, this hotel had the best amenities that we was looking for.  I guess the hotel was recently renovated and you can totally tell when you enter the lobby.  Very chic and modern.  Looking out from the lobby was the pool and it looked like a nice place to hang out.  The Hotel was located a few miles away from the start line but the best thing that they offer (all the time) is a shuttle service anywhere within a 5 mile radius.  The room that we stayed in was not a remodeled one so it was just your standard room.  Parking was a bit difficult but I think on a normal weekend, you should be fine.

The morning of the race, there was breakfast served and I saw someone come out with waffles!  I didn't have time to check out the breakfast though.

They also offered a complimentary one day pass to Frog's Fitness (which I didn't get the chance to use, I figured running a half marathon would be sufficient for the week)

The best thing that the hotel did for the runners was offer a late check out of 3pm.  My friend ran the marathon so it allowed us enough time to shower and pack our things without rushing.

Overall, I would stay at Hotel Current again if I ever went to Long Beach for some reason.

Keep in mind I didn't actually stay here but I had relatives stay here while in town and I did go over and spend a little time in the room while I was there.

First of all, they booked two rooms and for some reason, instead of giving them two rooms next to each other, one was upstairs and one was downstairs. Ok, fine. No biggie I guess.

The second thing that turned me off was some of the other people that were staying there. Maybe they were having some deals at the time that were attracting cheapies but there were two rooms full of college kids smoking, burping, yelling, and drinking Coors Light with the doors open. Good times. They didn't have to call the management because they said they shut the doors after 10:00 but this probably would have been a problem if the rooms were next to theirs. I live in the neighborhood behind the hotel and more than once have groups of obnoxious drunks walked past my apartment, through the alley, and onto the hotel grounds.

The third (and major) problem I had with them was the state of the carpet. My nieces took their shoes off and walked around the room for 5 minutes and the bottoms of their feet were BLACK. They were playing on the floor and their elbows and knees were black. SO GROSS! When was the last time the carpet was cleaned? YUCK!

They said the breakfast was ok but not a lot of protein and a wedding party that was staying there cleaned it out so they ended up going across PCH to Denny's both mornings they were there. They didn't stay there again when they came into town.

I was invited to the grand opening party for this newly owned and renovated hotel last week.  It's a a bit awkward getting there from 7th St coming from downtown LB, since you can't turn left on PCH, but hey nothing good is ever easy to get to right?

Driving up, the exterior is a bit like a walled castle, all white with hints of ocean blue.  We walked in to a decent sized lobby area.  It was styled with contemporary furniture, which definitely was a nice touch.  The lobby leads directly to the pool area surrounded by a few shaded cabanas and palm trees.  I can definitely see how it can be a relaxing area to hang out.

The pool area is surrounded by guest rooms as well as an on-site restaurant that look rather spacious.  They had a few rooms on exhibit, so I was able to check them out.  And, wow was I impressed!  Fairly spacious, with clean white bed linens and modern furniture.  The bathrooms were so nice too!  The shower was large and I think made with stone tiles like if you were in those Caribbean resorts.  The rooms reminded me of the nice boutique-style hotels I stayed at in Europe, but with more space of course.

What a wonderful job the new owners did in renovating and redecorating this hotel!  Definitely a great place to stay in Long Beach!

My GF and I decided to book a room here. We didn't really have high expectations, due to us knowing the neighborhood and knowing what it looks like on the outside. When you're driving in you kind of get freaked out because it looks like a MOTEL. But we agreed to not judge this hotel on the outside but wait till we get in our room.

So the room is nice. NOT one of the best rooms, but reasonable for the price. The bed was alil hard for us, but the pillows made up for that :) the bathroom was normal. Nothing exciting. My only complaint will be that the channels are REALLY REALLY bad here! It was soooo bad that we went to redbox and rented 2 movies to watch on my GF's laptop!!! Now you know that's bad!!! Also everything that was on t.v was the NEWS and Jerry Springer!

Well....I might stay here again.....who knows, maybe they'll have better choice of channels next time! :-)

This was a great place. My wife and I loved it and we will definitely be going back for another stay-cation weekend. Nice and clean. The room was beautiful and very hip. The hotel is almost connected to one of the best restaurants in town - Green Field Churrascaria. You can just walk from your room. Our balcony view of the golf course was pretty cool but we didn't spend much time on it. Next time we will.  The pool area is great and the pool goes up to 9 feet! The staff was very helpful and seemed happy to be doing what they do. My only complaint would be the water pressure in the shower. That cost them a star in my rating. When you're on a getaway or just taking a shower period, you want the water pressure to be strong and there's is anything but... but other than that I love the place and planning on my next weekend getaway there.

I live in Long Beach, therefore, I have no need to stay in a hotel in my city. But there have been a few times where I found myself in a hotel IN Long Beach because I had a little too much of the jungle juice.

If my memory serves me well, this place used to be a motel of sorts before it transformed into a "boutique" style hotel. I remember always zooming past it on PCH, never giving it a second glance.

Suddenly, I found myself at an event for Hotel Current's debut as a chic-boutique hotel. Synchronized swimmers adorned the outdoor pool, caterers and desserts covered every corner of the outside patio, people mingles and convened at the nearest bar. It was an event that had you rubbing elbows with Long Beach's finest. I, however, ended up bumping into my old childhood friends (whom I am no longer friends with because, well, ya know) and an old friend I used to work with back in my punk rock days (I am not the aging punk rocker to claim that statement, however, I did go thru phases in my lifetime).

I did not stay at this hotel but was allowed to preview the rooms. Sure, they all looked upscale and nice -- a little reminiscent to the Standard in LA, but you really can't help but notice that...it's still a MOTEL. You still have to walk outside to get into your room and the rooms themselves are not all that big. The pool is small and there really isn't much of a view. Since this event was in the evening, everything was twinkling and lit up pretty nicely. I don't know what the scenery is like during the daytime - I can't imagine it being breath taking.

The front area of the building looks new and polished -- again, very modern looking and clean. The rates are also on the above moderate scale. Hotel Current probably wouldn't be my first choice for lodging in the Long Beach area -- but then again, it is slightly close to Belmont Shore.

We booked a room for Saturday night 5/18/13 through Hotwire and received a great price. The check-in time is at 3 p.m. but I called around 10 a.m. and was told that there wouldn't be a problem having our room ready early. The hotel is in a good centralized location, close to all areas of Long Beach. When we pulled up, this hotel looked clean and well kept. Wayne was working the desk and was very professional and  helpful, he remembered my call from earlier in the day. It was explained that there is a free shuttle service within 5 miles leaving every 30 minutes. The rooms are nicely decorated  and very clean.  The beds are very comfortable. The free breakfast served until 9:30 was awesome. Eggs, sausage, fresh waffles, fruit and much more. I would recommend this hotel for anyone staying in the Long Beach area.

Had work done on our condo in town and needed a place to stay with our 2 cats for at least 4 nts. Spent the whole day online looking for a place with a separate bedroom and kitchenette that accepted pets for under $189 a nt AND had good reviews.  Almost impossible - looked 50 miles out! I ended back at the Current a few miles from home. I initially passed it by, having driven by it, I wasn't overly impressed and didn't realize they had kitchenette/one bedroom units. But, I  noticed the cool pics of the rooms and the great reviews, so I decided to call  - and what a relief - they had a one bedroom unit with full kitchen and accepted pets!  All this for $119 a nite!!!  We were misled by the street view of the place - it opens up nicely when you pull in with tall fronds of bamboo growing as a centerpiece at the front entrance.  Very zen! We had a poolside room.  The pool area is top notch - just cooled out to the max-can see it being a destination party spot.  Really nice music playing from am to pm and from the lobby, it's quite a sight.

The roof overhangs and the rooms don't get much light on one side, but the kitchen and bath were bright. One thing:  no elevators and we were on the second floor, so a lot of heavy lifting for the hubby. :( There are only 2 floors by the way.

The decor was nice - different with a cool factor. The furnishings in the living room were a bit "used" looking, but just fine.  There was no pet smell at all or any sign that it was a pet-friendly room. The wi-fi was easy to connect to. Flat screen tvs in liv. rm and bedrm. Bed very comfy, but hate those flat down pillows...brought our own.

The bathroom appeared nearly new and very roomy. Huge shower - like others, we wished the rain shower head had even a little flow...it was sad...my cat is nuts for water and the water flow was so soft and quiet that she would stay in the shower when we used it - it didn't scare her at all.  Funny!

The kitchen was sparsely supplied and decorated - a few plates, very little cutlery, no cork screw, no glass wear or mugs (plastic cups supplied w/ ice bucket), a tiny coffee-maker with paper cups and those single use coffee packets that hotels offer.  We ended up bringing our own coffeemaker. No paper towels or kitchen towels - used a hand towel from the bath. A full set of non-stick cookwear, small 1/2 size fridge with freezer, no dishwasher and a few packets of dish soap.  Sounds meager, but we had the advantage of being in town- we just picked stuff up from home. Everything was very clean, but just bare bones.

They offer a free full breakfast from 6:30-9:30 and you can grab fruit and yogurt to take up to your room.  Also- free parking! Overall, we found this unit more than met our needs and we were so thankful to find it. The bill was straight up - no unexpected fees.

Highly recommend it, especially if you need to travel with pets.

I stayed overnight in one of the spa tub rooms, room 103 to be exact, and I would of given the hotel a higher rating if there weren't so many freaking fruit flies in my room. I'm not sure where they came from, where they were coming from, or how they got there but they were pretty annoying. As me and my honey tried to relax in the tub we had to constantly shoo away fruit flies and watch our drink glasses because they kept trying to land in our drinks. We also had food delivered to the room and that was an ordeal trying to eat and constantly monitor the food to make sure they weren't landing on our meal. If the fruit fly issue wasn't there I'm sure we would of had a nice relaxing time but that surely put a damper on things.

looks like a motel from the outside (with the rooms lined up and separated from the check in and reception area and the parking spaces in front of the doors) but the inside rooms are actually dressed up in a very modern and contemporary fashion. the beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were clean. however there was JUST enough space to move around the bed with a rolly bag and the bathroom sink was WAAAAY too high (especially for a shorty like  me :[ ) also each door (besides the front door) was a sliding door, so i was very aware of the little cracks when you close each door (especially in the bathroom area). still free breakfast, conveniently located off the freeway, and pretty close to some great restaurants - not a bad place to stay for a night.

I am updating my review, because my wife and I actually stayed a night at this hotel.
By far, one of the best hotel stay experiences I have ever had.  After checking in, I was greeted by one of the Managers, Wayne who helped me find my room.  He made sure I was satisfied and told me to call if there were any problems.  Our room was on the PCH side of the hotel, but literally could not hear any traffic.  We had a refurbished room, which had a King sized bed, very comfortable; cool orange chair, desk, couch, flat screen, etc.  It was very clean, quiet, we got a little bit of the continental breakfast the next day.  We stayed here for our anniversary so it just made it that much more special.  Without a doubt, we will be staying here whenever we need a small getaway and recommending to friends and family!

We came in with no reservation but checked on yelp and saw the discount, still not sure we asked to view the rooms. It was nice and the bed was comfy (the king is better then the 2 queens). So we stayed for 2 nights, I liked the shower it was big and had the rain shower head, flat screen TV hardwood floors. The women at the front desk super helpful. I'll be back.

We absolutely loved the hotel!!!!  The rooms were lovely.  I preferred the double room set up (the bathroom area seemed more nicely set up), but with only a shower, we switched to the king room with jacuzzi tub!

The staff was very nice, and both rooms were lovely.  I think the double was better but the jacuzzi tub was to die for.  :)  The gigantic bed was perfect and comfortable.

The pool area was just so nice!!!  Great combination of shady areas and sunny areas.  The pool was perfect for my 4 yr. old because he could walk in.  I loved the 9 ft. deep end.

My favorite part was the staff let us use the pool after we checked out and we used it!  I think we'll be spending quite a few weekends there over the summer!

I don't have any complaints at all!

Well, well, well, I think the mice will come out to tell. Okay I need to be brief as I am on work/vacation. We booked for the newly remodeled rooms which have hard wood floor and the modern orange furniture. Our first room #167 was cool but the the chair and couch was worn and gave me the ugh don't want to sit on that feeling. The lower level rooms are the remodeled rooms. In the higher  100's facing the parking lot..However thees rooms are used more ( families with kids and partying folks) and after a night of thin wall noise activity I asked to be moved. That's when I noticed they have even nicer remodeled rooms which are over by the pool 127,126, etc. To cut down on the shannigians just ask for a newly remolded rooms by the pool. Okay since I am on my way to Santa Monica let me make it plain.

Breakfast: waffle, bananas, cheerios, cornflakes, o.j., coffee, milk, and toast with jellies. Hey if you hungry it will do. No fights at the waffle maker takes about 3 minutes!

Pool area: stays open from 8am -10pm. Clean water and swanky music playing along with retro patio lounge furniture.

Rooms: I think they should just remolded the hotel completely. However I understand saving the really nice hardwood floored remodeled rooms for paying a higher rate. BUT if that is the case all of the rooms should have great furniture in them!  They seem to save the pool view rooms for quieter guest that want to sleep or be respectful while enjoying each other.....ump hmmm ....I mean time here!  Yet, you can hear the swanky music playing through your closed window? I guess better than listening to the other guest.

Cute refrigerator, make sure you turn up the cool setting.

Shower has nice warm to hot water from an over head spout and free shower gel and shampoo. Shower gel didn't dry out my skin and had a fruity apple/pineapple smell. Towels  and wash cloths were, clean and thick not flimsy like some towels.

Good sized bathroom a  mini safe was an extra surprise bonus. IF you wanna be trustful and leave something you might not mind losing. I locked up my perfume , house keys, and some cute inexpensive earrings.

Cool flat screen t.v with great sound quality and no sticky substances on the remotes. Beds were clean, white sheets , lots of pillows, and firm.

Again the rooms by the pool seem to be a slight upgrade to the remolded rooms as a whole. I had a cute blue pillow on my bed, no heavily soiled furniture like I did in the other remolded room facing the parking lot. I HAVE allergies and a high keen sense of smell so I could smell other peoples natural body scent on the beds sheet in room #167. It wasn't foul but didn't smell anything on the sheets by the pool. Maybe the double laundry them.

Location not so great but there is free parking, breakfast, and free wi-fi. Visiting from Nor Cal so in general I was lost. However, driving into LA and popular areas was at least 20-28 miles away. Better not get sleepy on the way home.

Wayne the front desk manager helped switch rooms and I paid a nice $516.28 for 4 nights a bookit.com deal was a little pricey for this place. After I changed rooms I felt a LITTLE better about the money I was spending BUT I usually stay at the Westin or a ,Hyatt  when traveling. We are visiting and it is a Easter/ Spring Break weekend for my daughter and I so hotels booked fast.

The Deli News is a great place for pizza/Italian food in the area. Get a bang for your buck and eat like a Queen/King. Dont bring home a big doggy bad fridge is on the compact side.

FREE Wi-Fi and parking was cool.

Finally answer 3 stars! $316.28 would have been a fair price for the place. Especially for the noise, location, and inconsistent decor. I could use the extra $200 for gas and other traveling expense.

Excuse typos and grammatical errors. I will fix them later. Gotta go!

I stayed here for one night in July and overall had a pleasant experience. The staff was great. It's not the most scenic location but the king room is awesome! The giant jacuzzi tub is perfect, but it did take a while to fill it up. The bed is super freakin comfortable. The room itself is nicely decorated and simple. The pool area is pretty cool. I have absolutely no complaints about this place. For the price I'd definitely stay there again.

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Current and it was a very positive experience, including:

Free and fast shuttle from Long Beach Airport with a friendly and helpful driver

Updated lifestyle room that was a fantastic price for the amenities provided

    Helpful staff

    Good restaurants in walking distance

    Continental breakfast

    Beautiful pool with great furniture

What would make it a five star? A some small things like larger towels, a way to purchase snacks and rent movies.

Hotel is very clean, the decor is quite nice. The pool is on the small side. It's laid out more like a motel. The rooms are very nice, but the walls are paper thing. One awesome feature they do have is that there have a free shuttle that will take you to a 5 mile radius and pick you up!

I had a great experience when I had to make a reservation on short notice. The rooms were very comfortable and the staff pleasant. They were able to accommodate my short notice requests three days in a row and even upgraded at no cost when the original room I stayed in wasn't available on the second night.

We stayed here for one night during mid-June 2012.  The place is okay, but nothing special.  it was recommended to us by the organization we were with and I guess it was giving us a discount on the rooms.  Otherwise this would not have been even my tenth choice of where to stay in Long Beach.

In the bathroom, the sink is very high.  I guess they are trying to be artistic.  Not a problem for me but my  son had a hard time reaching it.  The shower was anemic.  Very little water pressure.

Our room faced PCH and there was a lot of road noise during the night.  The room didn't seem to have a lot of soundproofing.  There was also some guest noise but it was early in the evening (around 9 p.m.) and didn't last more than 10 minutes or so.

Yeah, walking on the carpet turned my socks black but this is not the only hotel where that's happened.  Even some of the "better" ones I've stayed at have this problem.  The bed was interesting.  The wooden base sticks out from the mattress at the corners about three or four inches. It sticks out far enough that if you use the mattress to determine where to turn as you move around the bed at night you can clip your shin on the base.  I went home with bruises on both shins (okay, yeah, slow learner - give the bed a wider berth...).

In this day and age plugs are a necessity.  There were exactly two at desk level.  None near the bed that were easy to reach.  I had to unplug a lamp to plug in a charger near the bed.  That meant reaching under the end table, finding the plug, etc, etc.

Many hotels have lamps that have plugs built into them.  This place could use two or three of those per room. Or remember to bring an extension cord to reach one of the plugs in the middle of a wall - where they are useless.

The parking lot was crowded but we were always able to find space.

Breakfast consists of cereal, milk, two waffle machines and some bananas.  There's coffee and juice. That's pretty much it.  It can get crowded but it wasn't too bad.

The staff was nice but when I called into the front desk at 9 p.m. to set up a wake up call there was no answer.  I called the next morning to ask a question before checking out and again got no answer.

When we went to check out there was no one at the front desk and we had to wait about five minutes for someone to show up.  Not sure why they can't seem to staff the desk all the time.

Would I stay here again? Probably not.  It's not the worst place I've stayed in but it's not going to make my top ten without a lot of improvements.

We stayed for only 1 night with a living social deal for $109. The good part about it was that we were able to still use this deal on a Saturday night unlike many hotel deals through living social. The only reason we decided to stay here was because it was the cheapest and cleanest we found for Halloween weekend in Long Beach.

All the other reviewers are pretty spot on about this place. It's definitely a motel that's been renovated on the inside but no matter how "cool" they try to make it, it still felt like a motel to me except nicer sheets and a comfy bed.

The sinks are abnormally high but wasn't really an issue for me. The only issue I really had was with the water pressure in the shower like others have noted. I'm not sure if that was done purposely to save water or it's the shower head but either way I ended up taking an extra long shower trying to wash the soap out of my hair due to the lack of pressure. I know I'm used to hard water living in SoCal but I've also been to the South and their water pressure isn't even this bad.

Another complaint I have is that our deal was that we were able to check out at 2pm yet we were walked in on twice! And the second time someone yelled asking what time we were checking out.

I gave this place 3 stars because it's definitely better than a Motel 6 but it's no Marriott or Hilton which I would usually rate around a 3 or 4. I think the price was fair for a Saturday night but next time we'll probably try some place else.

    Highly recommend!

My friends and I really enjoyed our stay at Hotel CURRENT. We loved the modern look and the staff is very friendly. However, the beds were a little firm for my taste and the water pressure in the shower is pretty low (I have VERY thick hair, so it felt as if I didn't clean it at all). The breakfast is nothing special, but it's very decent for being free and it's filling. Overall, great stay. Maybe next time we'll get a chance to check out the pool.

Terrible management! My boyfriend & I stayed here for valentines day (checked in thursday night checked out sat at noon) & will never stay here again. When we got into our room there were ants all along the wall behind our bed and inside the bath tub. The guy at the front desk apologized and said the only room they could move us to was the one next door room 105. This room was cleaner but the street noise was unbearable. Do not get a room on the PCH side or you will not sleep. Also, the air conditioner was very loud. On Saturday morning at 4:20am the sprinklers came on and the water was hitting a window of the next room over. I had to call a few times before the front desk answered. They did turn the water off but this caused me to get only 2 hrs of sleep. I don't know who is managing this hotel but if I managed a hotel there wouldn't be any bugs in the rooms or sprinklers interrupting customers sleep.

I stayed here with the bf this past weekend. The hotel and rooms were nicely remodeled but it seems like some details were left out.  We got the hot tub room just to have something extra. First of all, nothing but a curtain separates the bed and the tub.  You can see the toilet and everything from the bed. We chalked it up to bad planning. We couldn't find the towels in our first bathroom and discovered them in a shelf next to the bed.  Odd place for towels. There is also a lack of towel racks. We then had to move rooms because the plumbing backed up. They were nice about moving us and the second hot tub room had the towels stored in the bathroom. The same floor plan issue of seeing the toilet from the bed. We were afraid of stinking up the whole room, if you know what I mean!

We also headed out to the pool area.  That was really nice and peaceful.

Overall, helpful staff and good ideas but execution is a bit off. I know management reads these reviews and I just wanted to make suggestions.  Overall not a bad experience for the price.

I came across this hotel on Yelp and they had a deal I couldn't resist. The did manage to over book rooms even though I had reservations and had paid in advance. However, they gave me an upgrade which was AMAZING. Score NICKIE!!!! The inside of the room was very impressive. I loved the modern decor and the big jetted tubs, very soothing. The also had complimentary breakfast.

Had a very pleasant stay at Hotel Current. The hotel looks to be newly renovated - it probably use to be a motel and they've upgraded it substantially. Our room was nice and clean with a king sized bed, a funky arm chair, and a rain shower in the bathroom; WI-FI at the property is also free for hotel guests. The pool area also looked nice, but didn't get a chance to check it out. Parking is also free, but a little hard to come by towards the front of the property. There is plenty of parking in back though, but you'll have to trek around the back of the property, which is definitely more motel style than the front. The free continental breakfast was also really good with breakfast burritos, eggs, sausage, and usual assortment of pastries and yogurt. They also have a free shuttle that will take take you to various LB attractions - last run is at 10:30 p.m. Overall, a very amenity rich hotel at reasonable prices and in a decent location in LB (5 miles or so from Downtown).

I really really loved this hotel, employees were all very friendly, complimentary breakfast was good, hotel was clean and nicely decorated. Pool area was awesome, they had couches and tables and it was super cozy. The only complaint I had was the hotel alarm clock went off at 6 am and woke me and I was never able to go back to sleep. I think this is something the maids should check when they clean the rooms so guests do not have to worry about being woken up. Had my sleep not been interrupted this would have been a perfect stay. So it was our anniversary and we wanted to celebrate but didn't have the time to go away. We had a "staycation" and spent the night at the Hotel CURRENT.  Seriously, I haven't been this relaxed in a long time. From the  moment we arrived the staff was very courteous wishing us a "happy anniversary". They were  really helpful in general which is a big plus.

I walked into our room and was very happy. It felt light and airy and I immediately saw this huge tub. YES!!!  A curtain separates it from the bathroom and then another from the bedroom. It even had jets.

The room had a modern vibe to it, colorful art and open spaces. The bed was huge and very comfy. Basically so comfy that we decided to stay in and not go out to dinner.

I appreciated the nice small touches like the cute towel display and scented soaps.
Check out was at 12 and I appreciated that extra hour of sleep. I know that they've offered Living Social Deals before and I'd say it is well worth the deal. Its got a small homey feel which I liked.

Now its o so hard to go back to real life.....

I stayed in a nice firm king bed with my girlfriend for 1 night.  The room was nicer than we expected.  Well-decorated, had a mini fridge, microwave, desk, vault, couch, and large bathroom.  The shower had beautiful tile and a rain-style showerhead on the ceiling, which is something I'd always wanted to try.  The free breakfast was good.  A downside of it being a motel-style setup was that cars were parked very close to the rooms, and we had annoying neighbors who kept honking repeatedly late at night.  I can't comment on value since I don't know what my girlfriend paid.

I have mixed feelings about this hotel. If you can kind of turn a blind eye this place works great. For the price with aaa discount you can't really beat it for the ambiance they have tried hard at providing. They are pet friendly which is always a plus and they have a nice pool area however unfortunately no hot tub. The rooms have all been remodeled so you get a nice wood floor, rainfall shower head...a nice modern feel for what used to be an old run down motel however I can't help but get sort of a covered up /half done job vibe here. For example they tried hard at the remodel but you can tell the doors are all old and things just look like they tried cutting corners in some ways which is understandable for the rates they charge. I don't expect the 4 season quality here for the price you pay however I would appreciate it if they would give cleaner towels. We stayed for over a week and got many dirty stained old towels. Another thing is the maids weren't great. Room never really got cleaned too well. But oh well for the price you can't really beat this place. Just don't expect a nice hotel. It's simply an upgraded motel but done very tastefully.

Here's why Hotel Current earns 4 stars from me:

    (1) It was easy to reserve a block of rooms here for my wedding guests
    (2) All wedding guests received a group rate that included parking for the duration of the cruise I was married on
(3)The staff are friendly, helpful, and good at what they do
    (4) The outside of the hotel may look dated, but the rooms themselves are updated and have a modern flair
    (5) Breakfast was included (although not very good- think cereal boxes and fruit)

    Pros:
    Couch in room
    Rain shower
    Heated pool

    Cons:
    Breakfast was bland
    No hot tub

Not really sure why all the great reviews. Stayed at Hotel Current because the reviews made it sound like a hip little boutique hotel. It's more like a budget motel dressed up to look nice. Yes, the bed is comfy. Yes, the pool area looks cool. Yes, cute, modern decor. I was on the first floor by the pool and the room was dark with WAY to many mirrors everywhere. Door was old and dingy like other yelpers have said. Super weak water pressure in the shower.  Was going to book 2 nights, but after my first night I cancelled the second. Couldn't get out of there fast enough! I was staying for work meetings in Long Beach and had to get up early. All I wanted was a quiet place to sleep. Not so. The walls are paper thin. Could hear people talking in the next door rooms and above like they were standing 5 feet away and then was woken at 6am by other guests with a baby in the next room. Also, parking spaces are very small and most cars took up more than one spot. Didn't stay for the free breakfast, as it looked pretty mediocre, too. I like staying at cute, independent boutique hotels and saving money, but this did not fit the bill.  It's worth it for me to spend an extra $50 to $100 for quiet, clean and comfortable. To me, this motel is worth about $60 per night.  I'm writing this review from the Westin Long Beach and I couldn't be happier that I switched to a nice hotel!

Cute hotel!! All that you need for a comfortable stay without spending all the money!

The only downfall of the stay was our room smelled like rancid feet! For the life of me I couldn't find the source of the smell to fumigate the room so I just adapted to it. Gross I know...but we loved our room and didn't want to switch to another.  According to other reviews this wasn't just a problem for us, apparently it smells rank among the entire premise.

We had a double bed room and it was ample size for 3 people! Complimentary breakfast, and free parking! Super friendly and helpful staff. There is a free shuttle as well that takes you to the hustle and bustle of 2nd street. This hotel is great place to save $$ and have a comfortable stay.

My friend was having her wedding in Long Beach which meant I needed a Hotel. I immediately looked on Yelp for a Hotel nearby her reception and Hotel Current appeared along with a Yelp deal. The one aspect of this hotel that drew me in was the King Tub Room. I bought the yelp deal and called the front desk for reservations.

We got a bit lost when driving in but ended up entering through the back. It's pretty obvious this was a motel that was renovated. When I walked into lobby, the space looked very classy and upscale (you would never think it was that nice when you're outside).

This room was very different from any other I've stayed at. The King Tub room had a creative space layout which enhanced the "romantic couple" getaway feeling. Although there were a lot of positives, I have to point out things that stuck out like a sore thumb. The room had many minor details that need to be tended to: Chipped paint/wood on furniture and walls, basic repairs, and my MAIN COMPLAINT: The shower head. I was VERY dissatisfied with the shower head... It felt as if I was showering with a drip sink. (See my photos for proof)

Other things to note: Hotel Current offers shuttle services for drop off/pick up within 5 mile radius (this wasn't advertised - I overheard someone calling to the front desk asking to be put on the list) Space is limited/first come first serve. This really helped since we were planning to take a cab. More positives - The bed was very luxurious and comfy, free parking AND Wi-Fi!

I would definitely come back and recommend anyone coming to the Long Beach area.

On Yelp, there's an offer to pay $119 for $139 in credit for the Hotel Current.  So, we purchased the credit and the hotel wouldn't honor it.  The hotel explained that we used a different reservation system and because of that, they couldn't accept the Yelp discount.  That makes no sense.  We booked the reservation through the hotel's web site.

    Seems like a sham.

Adding insult to injury, in the voucher Yelp provides an email address if there are any issues.  In the past week, I've made 2 inquiries to Yelp and have not received a response.  For a rating and review site, I would expect a lot better of Yelp.

I called this hotel on Monday at 9:45pm to book the cruise and park package. We are only driving up from San Diego and the employee I spoke with told me that I didn't have to stay at the hotel but could pay $25 to park for the week just by showing up. I asked if I needed to reserve a spot or pay in advance. He said no. Now I am on my way to Long Beach (my cruise leaves later today). I called the hotel to verify and they say the 25$ parking fee is not true and they refused to honor what their employee told me over the phone. Thanks for putting me in a really bad position Hotel Current! I am so angry! Now I am searching on my phone to find a parking space!

Hotel Current is in a great location, close to many highways. We were in town to do some business all around LA, and it was convenient to be near several interstates and freeways.

I was impressed with the condition of the room and the quality of the bedding. It was a very comfortable stay, however I would recommend you ask for a room away from E. Pacific Coast Highway. It was pretty noisy in the early morning, unless you have the A/C unit on, then you can't hear the outside traffic.

Although the bathroom features a rain shower head, the water pressure is so low, that it's more like a drizzle than a rain shower. That was a little disappointing.

Lastly, I shared a room with two other guys. Hotel Current, you could try to be a little less stingy with your extra rolls of toilet paper! Would it have killed you to supply an extra roll?

The complimentary breakfast is decent. If you're someone who needs a good breakfast in the morning, try some of the local diners in the area. Yelp can help you find some great places around Long Beach.

I am really frustrated with Hotel Current and will likely never stay there again or recommend it. I purchased the $119 YELP DEAL and when I called to book a room on the weekend, they were booked solid for a month, which was fine. I booked for a Saturday in mid-August and was told I could upgrade to a King bed room with jacuzzi because I booked through Yelp, pending availability.

When we arrived at the hotel, the outside looked like a newly painted drive-up-to-your-room type of motel with very modern decor in the lobby. The woman who checked us in was kind of snooty and literally scoffed at me when I told her I had the Yelp voucher on my phone and not printed out, even though it says on the voucher that I would just have to give the promotion code when I booked the room (and i did that). She also didn't give us any other information, ie what direction is our room in? When is the check out time? Do you serve breakfast? etc.

We found our room and I noticed right away that the door didn't fit quite right into the door frame so there was a bit of room under the door where you could see light from inside the room or outside the room depending on which side of the door you were standing on. Not a huge deal, just something I would fix if I owned the place. The room was clean, though you could tell it was an old building that had just been repainted. It had a nice king size bed with cozy white bed linens and a bright abstract painting above the bed. The lighting was sparse, but it did have a medium sized window facing the West. The very WEIRD thing about the room was that the bathroom wasn't separate from the room, as in you could stand in the middle of the room and on one side is the bed and the other side is the hot tub and next to that, a shower stall and toilet. So no bathroom privacy. TOTALLY AWKWARD.

We woke up the next morning and went to the front desk to ask about breakfast - they DO have it, if I remember correctly it's from 6am-9am and they have a nice spread of generic hotel breakfast food. It's free, so not a bad offering.

Ok ok - so the stay was ok, albeit with the awkward bathroom situation. The part I am frustrated with is that a week later I discovered Hotel Current had charged my credit card for the room! So I called, wondering how many people get double-charged and never realize it, and the friendly girl I spoke with was quick to refund me and apologize. (To be honest, it almost seemed common place for her to do this.) Then today I was checking my account again, to see that they placed another charge on my account of $10.00. WTF?! The guy I spoke with said it's a tax on the room that I have to pay for and is listed on the Yelp deal. Well, IT'S NOT. But it's $10 and I'm done with Hotel Current, so screw it.

If you're expecting to stay at a decent hotel that is competent at guest billing, forget this place.

I needed a room in Long Beach on the busiest weekend in the city. There was a rowing competition, the Grand Prix was coming to town, and I forgot what else. I could have found something elsewhere in an other city but I needed to be LB local for my wedding and I didn't want to stay just anywhere because I would be taking pictures there.

I called Hotel Current the first time and it was sold out. I was bummed. I explained the situation and asked them to call me if there was a cancellation.   I knew this was a long shot but three days later I had a reservation!  When we did check in the staff was so nice to us and they remembered we were a wedding party. They were kind enough to hook up the groom with an extra room where he could shower and change into his suit for the ceremony while I got ready. (Wayne at the front desk, THANK YOU!)

They even gave us a free bottle of champagne. Nice!

Straight forward this is a updated Motel 6. If you have experienced Motel 6 .. this place offers same size room with better beds, more espresso wood, nice bathrooms that offer walk in tile showers with rain overhead. The rooms are pretty nice with working air-conditioning, great location which is close to ocean. They offer complimentary breakfast which is served from 6:30AM- 9:30AM. The food is actually not bad and offers homemade waffles, sausage, toast, drinks, and eggs that taste very fake.. but not bad. Lobby is nice and staff was great, pool is also nice. My only complaint is that for the price of about 139/night .. you are staying in a upgraded Motel 6 and if you are not spending a lot of time in room then just stay at a Motel 6 for half the price.

I like kitschy boutique hotels and this is no exception.  Staff is truly friendly. The pool area is totally chill with great seating areas and appropriate tunes.  The rooms have a minimalist decor and comfortable beds.  Only downside are the noisy old fashioned AC units -- mini-splits would be a good upgrade to consider.  If you're looking for a place to crash in LB -- this place is worth considering.

Wow, I am impressed!!!  I was not expecting much coming into this hotel since it looks like any roach motel out in Long Beach; boy, was I wrong! Once you step into the lobby, you can tell it's not your ordinary hotel/motel. Here's why:

Free WIFI (it actually works; connection is moderate)
Modern room with cable; seems remodeled
Free Shuttle Service from morning till 10:30PM (within 5 miles)
    Heated Pool
Lounge Chairs with Hip Music playing gently in the background (by Pool)
    Comfortable Bed
    Large Shower with Rain shower-head
    Fridge
    Couch
    Free Breakfast
    Flat Screen TV
    Free Parking

The breakfast is till 9:30am and it's legit! Scrambled egg, sausage patty, yogurt, breakfast burrito, bagel, toast, muffin, coffee, OJ,  and  a waffle machine were the things provided for us. I was blown and this review went from a 4-star to a 5-star review! Hotel Current's staff is A+ as well with great customer service; patient and informative!

I think another one of their plus is their shuttle service because you can take it to Long Beach Airport, Downtown Long Beach, and the Queen Mary just to name a few. They can also pick you up for free, too! Plus, they have deals on Yelp and Jet Blue; just ask for a discount!

We stayed at Room 136, which was next to the laundry room for the staff. Pretty quiet overall since we only had to share one wall during the night. Bottom line: I would come back and also recommend this hotel for anyone staying at Long Beach! PS, checkout was noon, but we were able to do a late checkout at 1PM.

Stayed here for my wedding nd they were SO great!!! I adore this place!

On the outside, it looks like a motel but when you go inside -SUPER modern! Very contemporary.

I stayed in the apartment complex which included a bedroom, kitchen, living room and awesome bathroom. It was perfect for me and the bridal party to get ready.

    Bedroom:
Tv and comfy bed. Only downside is not enough outlets to charge stuff in there. But bed was comfy.

    Kitchen:
Stocked with fridge, microwave, plates, and coffee maker. Nice size.

Living room: couch, chairs, desk, tv - nice Decor. Awesome space.

    Bathroom: very contemporary.

Condiments: they have the shampoo/conditioner on the wall. So eh.

Lobby: awesome lobby area. We took photos in there and sooooo contemporary! Love it!

Breakfast: free!!! It was great - eggs, sausage, breakfast burrito, yogurt, etc. awesome! 630am-930am!

    Pool: heated pool!!!

    Parking: tons of parking!

Price: if you're getting married and blocking rooms off, they provide a special rate for you! I had my wedding guests here d they loved it! I got the apartment for an incredible  rate! $169/night

Shuttle: they provide free shuttle to my venue to the hotel (my venue was 4 miles away)!

    Overall: loved this place!

    They have a pool!
Free breakfast.. They lock the doors to the free breakfast area promptly.

I booked a "Lifestyle King" room on bookit.com and got a double bed when I checked in. I drove and parked near my room. (Most rooms are detached from the lobby main area). The room was on the second floor. It was hot and stinky but it looked good. I couldn't deal with the funk so I checked with the front desk if there was another room I could use and they moved me to a room on the first floor that had bamboo floors. Apparently, the carpets were shampooed and that's where the stank came from. If you have wet carpets from shampooing, I think they should have let the AC run or open windows... SOMETHING.

The room on the first floor was better. The funk had been eliminated. The room was nice. Double beds. Fiji water for $4. You can buy Aquafina from the vending machine for half that.. The shower had a rain shower head on the ceiling and dispensers for shower gel and 2-in-1 shampoo fixed to the wall. There was also a microwave, a fridge, hairdryer, coffeemaker.. Room basics. I can't attest to the comfort of the beds. I was drunk staying there so I was knocked out and didn't have a problem with it.

I thought the location was closer to Downtown Long Beach.. It's across from a golf course. I didn't use the complimentary shuttle but because they have a shuttle.. it should have been the indicator they aren't centrally located. And because there's parking right in front of the rooms, I could hear every time someone chirped their vehicle. (Free parking, btw).

Good stay for the minimal price in the area.

Calling Hotel Current a hotel is a bit of a stretch on the classical definition of a hotel. This location has been updated and was previously a motel. The improvements made are extraordinary in the rooms. The layout of each room is up to date with separations between the bathroom and sink, always a nice touch. It does hurt that the updates did not include electrical outlets near the beds. A second flaw comes from the definition of free internet. I understand that hotels are not providing internet free to guests very commonly however saying you have free internet and then learning it is for up for two devices is a little tricky. Hotel Current has an average hotel breakfast and a nice pool area. Overall the quality of the room is decent, but it's certain not a hotel.

Be very careful making the reservation.  Somehow I ended up getting routed to Hotel Plus when making the reservation on the Hotel Current website.  Hotel Plus charges a $25 fee every time you change the reservation.  In addition, when you try to cancel the reservation you are required to go through Hotel Plus and Hotel Plus has very poor service.

A+ for bed, otherwise... our TV did not work and the sink had a leak, so in the night I walked into a flooded restroom. The deluxe shower was pretty lame too. The golf course view in just a view of the street mainly, the golf course is across the main road.

My family visited Hotel Current in February of 2015.  Our experience was amazing from beginning to end. The girls at the front desk, Alicia and Ja???, we so kind, helpful and accommodating.  The manager was pleasant and helpful.  Our room was tastefully decorated, incredibly clean, and very comfortable.  We especially loved the large, modernized bathroom with overhead shower and the complimentary breakfast. The property itself was very well kept.  The pool was sparkling and our teenagers swam for hours.  We definitely got more than we paid for.  I would stay at the Current again and I do recommend it to others who want more than a motel without the chain hotel feel.

I paid around $116.97 from hotels.com but the site booked for the next day. The front desk clerk (Jessica) was so helpful in canceling that (through hotels.com ) and even matched the price. Breakfast included with room price. Waffle maker, scrambled eggs, sausage patty, bagels, pastries, yogurt, coffee, milk, oj. I wish there were more small hotels like this. I prefer this over other major hotels. Even had checkout at noon with late checkout at 1pm. Only downside was my refrigerator didn't work and I woke up to warm beer. They gave me a discount though but I'm very happy with the overall experience and friendly staff

I have to say, I was a bit hesitant upon reading so reviews on trip advisor. Let me begin by saying, my SO and I had a long morning. My car broke down. Twice. And it took us 3 hours to get to LB from LA/the valley. I was grumpy and hangry and was praying that we had a decent room. I had called in advance and requested a "nicer" room since we were coming to celebrate our anniversary. When we first checked in we were given room 202. When we walked up the stairs to the room, we were slightly disappointed. A huge truck rushed by and we could hear all the passing traffic. I was exhausted and knew that despite my best efforts I would not be able to sleep. Despite my boy friend's plea to just "try" I decided to go down stairs and see if we would be able to switch rooms. The host, Alicia, was beyond helpful. She was friendly, attentive and incredibly accommodating. She is an ASSET to this hotel. No other rooms with a King size bed were available, so we were UPGRADED to a suite. Oh happy joy! My bad morning is concluded with a nice and lovely night. We have a bath tub, which I lounged in and a massive King size bed. Thank you Hotel Current & Alicia!

I would like to take this opportunity to express my pleasure with my recent stay at your Hotel. Your staff is impeccable, friendly, accommodating and helpful. This was my third stay at your location and I was thoroughly impressed. I participated in the Long Beach Marathon on October 12th. I was so impressed with the special treatment I received especially from "Jaharya". She is an asset to your establishment. I could not have asked for more. Originally, when I booked my stay, I had no ideal you offered shuttle service to and from the race. Also, I was over-joyed to hear you made arrangements to serve breakfast an hour earlier. I can't begin to express my extreme pleasure with your establishment.

I will definitely patronize your establishment in the near future.

Thank you so much for making my recent stay a PLEASURE!!!

I wish I could select 6 stars. I have stayed at 5 star hotels that didn't come close to delivering the service that Hotel Current gave us. I drove 20 hours from Texas to attend the Fred Hall Expo. and neglected to make reservations before we arrived. We looked a laundry list of hotels and luckily stumbled upon Hotel Current. After reading their excellent reviews we decided to give them a call. They had the lowest rates in the area so we were a little skeptical. We were greeted upon entering the lobby by two of the staff members and within a few minutes we were issued room keys. We entered the room with low expectations (because of the low price) and we were blown away. The room had new plush beds, a rainfall shower head, a brand new modern vanity, small refrigerator, microwave and new TV. I literally couldn't believe it! After a great nights rest we decided to give their continental breakfast a shot. They had sausage patties, a waffle maker, eggs, great coffee, OJ, milk, breakfast burritos, yogurt, pastries, cereal, fruit and many more items. Usually I can only stand a hotel's continental breakfast for about a day but I was very impressed with Hotel Current's breakfast and ate there every morning. When we originally booked the room they did not have any openings for the weekend so we were going to try and find another hotel. On Friday morning we asked the manager if there was any way we could stay another night. They accommodated our request and allowed us to stay until Monday. We were treated like royalty and still can't believe how professional the staff was! If you are looking for a hotel anywhere near Long Beach you have to check this place out. To Hotel Current, thank you so much for accommodating us and for allowing us to stay and your wonderful hotel!

I have mixed feelings on this place. I purchased a groupon so it only cost me about 74 dollars a night to stay here (vs the 118+ normally). I wouldn't have paid full price for this hotel unless I was desperate. It was clearly an old motel that was refurbished to have a more mod feel. I didn't see an elevator anywhere so prepare to lug your stuff up to the second floor or request for ground floor.

The door to our room did not fit right. I'm used to doors that slam shut on their own at hotels - not this one. Your door just stays open if you don't make sure to shut it yourself. Not a big deal - except our door didn't fit the frame right or something and you had to body slam the door in order for it to open, and closing it took multiple attempts every time, sometimes even having to lift the door up a bit and manuever it into place. For some reason both me and my friend's room key lost its programming every night the last half of the trip. The people at the front desk tried to tell me it was because it was stored next to a credit card or my phone. It wasn't - and I'm not sure where else you should store your room key since apparently putting it near your personal belongings will de-magnitize it. I've stayed at lots of hotels and always kept my room keys in my wallet and never had an issue.

The room itself was clean and updated. I'm not entirely sure about the power of their laundry machines because some of my towels had stains on them and my sheet did as well. The bathroom doors are kind of weird and the way the trim is around the bottom of the walls made it so that the doors can't close the last inch. There also wasn't anywhere to hang a hand towel or your bath towel once you used them so I wound up just dropping them on the floor. The room had a safe and a fridge which was really nice, and the shower had prefilled dispensers for shampoo, and body wash. The shower head comes straight down from the ceiling so if you like skipping hair washes I suggest you bring your own shower cap as they didn't provide any like some hotels, and the shower head made it difficult to dodge the stream of water.

The room was pretty dark even with all the lights on, and it was awkward to leave the curtains open since the window gives anyone walking to their rooms a clear view of whos inside. The walls were also PAPER thin, you could clearly hear every word people were saying as they walked by, and I could hear people throwing up one night which was pleasant.

There is free wifi, free overnight parking, and also free breakfast. I never tried the breakfast though because it ended at 9:30 which I thought was a little early. I also wasn't entirely sure where breakfast was because the person who checked us in didn't give us any sort of map - nor did they discuss check out time or where are room was besides "around the corner". One of the house keepers managed to bend the cover of my brand new book that I had set on the dresser which was frustrating. I did not use the pool but it looked nice and clean.

The hotel itself was decent but for the full price I wouldn't stay there. I don't regret my visit but I think that was largely because I stayed here on a groupon, and I didn't spend a whole lot of time in the hotel itself. I think if you're just looking for a place to sleep and you can't find another place for better money, this place would be ok, but other than that I found there to be too many little annoyances to really recommend the place.

We booked this hotel based on the last minute Groupon deal. It turned out to be a great choice. They provide lots of amenities like refrigerator, microwave and locker. The hotel is clean and the ambiance is very good. The staff were very polite and eager to help. Their breakfast is also better than the ones I have had in other places with yogurt, muffins, eggs, waffles and lots of other options. I will definitely be happy to stay there if I come back to LA sometime.

I was very happy with this hotel. It is an older  hotel that seems to have been remodeled... It's very clean, modern and had great decor. I stayed for 3 nights and would definitely stay again.

    Pros:
-- very clean, modern design... Very cute and spacious bathrooms
-- relaxing location that isn't too congested and across from a golf course
    -- free parking & internet
-- relaxing pool area with good seating and lounge chairs
-- mini fridge in all rooms and nice flat screen TVs with lots of channels
-- I can tell the cleaning crew works very hard and they are very friendly... Kudos to the hardworking cleaning crew

    Cons:
-- I can't stand rainfall shower heads...the water pressure is horrible and for women with long hair it sucks rinsing with something that just sprinkles. I never understood why people like those shower heads... The pressure is horrible.
-- it does get pretty loud at night or morning with thumping sounds... Likely people letting their doors slam shut. Didn't bother me cuz I'm a heavy sleeper, but just FYI for light sleepers.

I purchased a Yelp Deal for $109 for a $139 rate.  I made a reservation over the phone and provided a credit card info.  When I checked in, I showed "my deals" on my phone.  I paid $9 at check out for tax.

There's a complimentary shuttle service.  Bf and I took it to the 2nd Street.  From there, we went to the Pike and downtown.  The shuttle picked us up a little after 10 p.m. from downtown.

Ice machine is located by room 159.  Insert the room key in the slot.

Bf and I stayed at this hotel on a Saturday night.  We wanted to hang out in Long Beach to do something different.  But we didn't want to take a cab or the train.  I'm completely opposed to driving with any amount of alcohol so this hotel made sense.

The outward appearance is somewhat humble.  The layout and the design look like a motel.  But the rooms are completely upgraded.  We requested a room with a golf course view.  There's a busy street between the golf course and the hotel, but surprisingly, it wasn't that noisy.

I liked the roomy rain shower.  I also appreciated the complimentary shuttle within a 5 mile radius.  The Cuisinart coffee in the room was smooth.  I noticed that some of the boutique hotels have queen size beds so I was pleased that there was a King size bed in our room.

This is a very clean motel. We checked into a jacuzzi room after looking at other motels in Long Beach. This was the best. We live in Long Beach but don't own a jacuzzi yet. The Tub is okay, not like newer multi jet models, but good for two.
That night the AC unit quit. The maintenance man couldn't fix it so we left. The next day we called and they had already adjusted our room charge. This was unexpected and the front desk was very nice and apologetic about it.
We'll Come back. They are that nice.

    YES.

The rooms at Hotel CURRENT have all been COMPLETELY redone/remodeled with high quality materials and fixtures to be extremely artsy, modern, and super cool.  We're talking the good stuff, such as wood floors (no carpet), rain shower head, iPod speaker hookup, funky sink, and hand-painted art on the wall to name a few.

The pool is hip and has a lot of potential to be a hotspot, with lots of cabana seating and other nice areas to chill and listen to the speakered music.  Unfortunately, there is no jacuzzi, but the pool is heated and gradually goes from 1 to 9 feet deep.

Note that they have stepped up their "continental breakfast" BIG TIME since one of the other reviews wrote that it was just so-so.  Breakfast included ALL of the following from 6:30-9:30am:

    -  Sausage
    -  Scrambled eggs
    -  Waffles
    -  Toast
    -  Juice
    -  Coffee
    -  Milk
    -  Fruit
    -  Cereal
    -  Hard boiled eggs
    -  Microwave burritos
    -  Oatmeal

Aside from the flawless service, free parking, reasonable pricing, and the fact that the entire hotel is smoke-free, here's what pushes Hotel CURRENT to 5 stars:

They offer a FREE shuttle (seats up to 10) that will drop you off/pick you up anywhere you want within a 5 mile radius until 10:30pm.  This includes the Queen Mary, the aquarium, downtown, convention center, Long Beach airport, etc.  This is a HUGE advantage over getting a cab.  Don't forget to tip your driver!

BONUS: As of this writing they have a Yelp Deal.  Get it while you can!!  Even if you're local, Hotel CURRENT is totally worth it for a weekend getaway/staycation!

Really nice hotel (motel?) for what it is. Stayed overnight for the Long Beach Half Marathon and they actually had a shuttle race morning, which was nice. (I had already paid for parking or else I would have tried it out.) The rooms have a great modern look to them, with nicely upgraded bathrooms, and are pretty quiet. Yeah, the showers are rain shower heads, but they've got better water pressure than most rain showers.

The hotel amenities were ok. The pool looks like a lot of fun to lounge by, but sadly we were checking in too late (around 3) for any good sun. I did not partake in the free breakfast, but my travel companion said it was fine, a little stale and the area a bit sketchy, but free is free. I was a bit concerned about parking, as they were sold out and others had commented on it, but every time we returned there were enough spaces to choose from.

Decent price. It would be great is there was more around to walk to, which is a deterrent if I ever ventured back up this way, but would recommend as an affordable spot for a night or two.

I used the car valet service which was well managed. However, the cost of this service is quite high and I recommend that guests consider using the hotel's courtesy car if they intend staying in the downtown area for business. The only catch is that the car is not always available when you need it.

We certainly admire boutique hotels, typically for their modern design and unique styling. This was no different in being esthetically pleasing from the artistic lobby to the sleek room. It's amazing what simple dark wood furniture, glass, and metal can do for a small space. Also, the pool area is gorgeous, I wish we had time to enjoy it.

Anyway, we came in pretty late (11pm) and our front desk agent was really great, friendly, and welcoming. I also asked her about their rates and when I informed her that I booked through Expedia, she explained that they'll price match and we can make an easy reservation directly. Good to know!

We loved the design of the room, the art, and the furniture. Very chic. I loved the bathroom and the large shower with rain shower head! The water pressure was horrible though. The king bed was VERY comfortable, which is hard for me to find other than my own bed, so that was wonderful.

The complimentary continental breakfast (6:30-9:30am) was surprisingly decent! We enjoyed sausage patties, hard-boiled eggs, make-your-own waffles with a fresh banana, and hot tea and coffee. It was not amazing, but honestly I wouldn't expect much from a continental breakfast, especially free, and it was perfect to start our day. I also loved how many selections there were available! Cereal, oatmeal, breakfast burritos (those frozen ones), orange juice, danishes, yogurt, bagels, bread, and other fresh fruit.

Great overall experience and conveniently located when we were visiting family in the area. Oh, and can't forget free, easy parking!

    This hotel was just meh.

Spa tub was amazing but that's about it, and why I gave 2 stars instead of one. My room was right next to the noisy highway, so I could not sleep at all, the pillows were lumpy and the bed seemed like all it had was one sheet on it. I asked the receptionist at the front desk if I could be moved to another room away from the street, but I was told that all of the rooms with the spa tubs were taken, and that I can downgrade, but I would not be refunded the difference because I "pre-paid", ummm no thanks. Also the tv in our room was fuzzy and the quality was just awful. The breakfast was mediocre, but free, so you can't expect much there. Overall, like I said this place was just meh. Nothing exciting...

I stayed here with a group of students March 12-14, 2015 and was amazed by the service. The hotel is pretty and clean, it is renovated, has cute art pieces in rooms, modern ambiance, free wi-fi.
The continental breakfast was provided, and I liked it: many options, from your usual bagels with cream cheese to boiled eggs and yogurt to cereal and oatmeal, and even warm scrambled eggs with sausage patties. And I didn't mention the waffle maker.
But what set the hotel apart is the incredible service. I arrived earlier than my group and my name was messed up on the list given to the hotel, so they called the person who booked it, sorted it out and got me checked in.
Our group was using the hotel's shuttle to go to the Long Beach Arena, but they were short one driver, so the manager of the hotel himself drove us! Wow!
Wonderful experience for our group, we felt pampered.

Oh, and I had a nice chat with the manager (on the shuttle I mentioned) and we discussed some healthy options for breakfast, I suggested coconut yogurt and almond milk, and he said they will look into it, so who knows, you might get those options in the near future if you stay there!

We stayed one night  before leaving for a cruise. Seems to be a trend here. The shuttle service was one of the reasons we chose to stay here as opposed to downtown. And the price was great with a groupon.

When we arrived at the airport and called for the shuttle we were told it wouldn't be available for hours. Here we go was my first thought! However they told us to take a cab to the hotel and they would take care of it. Very professional.

We arrived several hours before check in and they got us into a room right away. Another wonderful exams of great customer service.

Our room was freshly cleaned with a very strong air freshener. Had to open the window and run the fan to air it out. The room was nice. Showing some wear n tare. The chair was torn and the shower curtain in desperate need of replacement. Otherwise in good condition. The mattress was very comfortable and the sheets cozy.

The only problem we had was with the wooden bed frame. There is not a lot of room to maneuver around the bed in the room. The bed frame extended a few inches past the mattress. My husband and I ran into it multiple times and both had bruises on our legs and knees. A few loud yells I'm sure were heard from our room.

We took über downtown because the shuttle still was out. But did have hem pick us up. The driver was awesome. He was courteous and gave us suggestions of places to go. He also took us for a drive to show us more of the area. Very kind!

The morning breakfast was your typical hotel free thing. No complaints. We sat out by the pool area and enjoyed the morning. The shuttle took us to the cruise terminal very quickly and we were off

I would stay again for here again for the convenience and the customer service. It's not a 5 star hotel but they do a very good job!

We stayed at the hotel over the weekend for a wedding at the golf course across the street. We checked in late Friday night and front desk people were nice, but our keys didn't work the first time and we had to go back to get them fixed. The rooms are modern and nice, and the bathroom was huge and great for getting ready. The hotel offered a complimentary shuttle which was awesome for the wedding.

    Now some of the bads:

Because of the way the hotel is set up, it can be very loud. We heard people in the morning as if they were in our room, but the air conditioning helps drown out the noise.

Our sheets had a "stain" on them and I had to call for another set.

The bathroom doors don't really close all the way as they are on sliders. Not a huge deal, but can be a little awkward.

The beds are on the smaller side, and the pillows are pretty dinky.

We stayed at Hotel CURRENT on our wedding weekend 10-18-14. We had a group of rooms blocked for our wedding. Nia was very helpful and accommodating as was all the staff! We had the suite for the bridesmaids to get ready with hair/makeup and used the kitchen for snacks and stuff for bridal party and family during that time. Super nice. Very contemporary. The pool area was very nice too. Breakfast had a nice selection. Shuttle to/from our wedding event was great too! Hotel guests just caught a ride over to our wedding. Perfect! Rates were very reasonable. No complaints at all! Thanks Nia!

    Pros:
    + comfortable, king sized bed
    + breakfast included
+ fairly modern rooms (though see cons)

    Cons:
    - My room was adjacent to a loud highway that remained busy throughout the night
    - They blast the lobby music until about 10pm and then start up again at 8am, which I could hear clearly in my room
    - The rooms look better in the photos than in real life. They aren't bad, but mine was a bit worn down and had seen better days

Last time, I stayed in the Sheraton, but the second downtown was Hotel CURRENT. Accommodation date briefing of weddings and real estate had been made. In Gas Building, women who are your work until late at night holiday was seen. Near the Starbucks in the morning, you can stand the policeman at the entrance. And experience the world can be area of the raw in the downtown If you walk a little. But, reasonably in advance knowledge acquisition is required and let's act cardinal rule is to stay away from the danger zone.

I stayed here when my apartment was being worked on. My budget wasn't huge, but the room was a really great value. It was comfortable, quiet, and the free breakfast in the morning was great. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and I love that I was able to bring my cat with me without any problems. The rain shower was pretty amazing. I would definitely stay here again if I have the chance.

Great boutique hotel that provides an exact "lifestyle" feel. My one bedroom suite had a modern theme; including a king sized bed, separate full-kitchenette with granite counter tops, mini breakfast table, medium fridge, microwave and plenty of cabinet space. The bathroom was sleek, plenty of room and had a great stone-shower back splash. The room was very spacious.
There are no elevators, but the hotel has just two stories.
This hotel seems fairly refurbished and the upgrades seem very successful.

The location was great, lobby and everything Long Beach was exceptional but the rooms are very dated . Our room also looked out directly onto a brick wall but we paid through points so half expected it.

Current Hotel best price you can find. Everything is local from food bars and the beach. They've remodeled the place it's very nice. The pool is the best! One thing I highly recommend is a room with a jacuzzi every relaxing I wouldn't hesitate going again and staying in for 3 days.

Looking for a place to stay in Long Beach? This place is your best bet! Affordable, clean, and as the name portrays very "current." Rooms are really clean and comfy. Loved the bathroom. They also have a small pool and cute chairs to just chill out on. Location is really nice. Few restaurants and bars you could easily walk to. Check out the Mexican joint across the street! So good. Pretty close to the highway, obviously to get to the beach faster :) honestly, for the price you can't beat it ($340 for 3 nights). My number one priority is always the hotels cleanliness and this place was spot on!

Decent hotel; they did a major remodel a few years back but it feels more like a fresh paint over.
Sink in the bathroom was too high.
    Breakfast included and OK.
Beds comfy but pillows should be replaced with some decent ones. They were full of clumps.

Really nice hotel for the price. Stayed overnight for the IBJJF International Championships at CSLB and they actually had a shuttle, which was nice.   They even picked us up and brought us back to the hotel with only a phone call.  The rooms have a great modern look to them, with nicely upgraded bathrooms, and are pretty quiet.

The pool was a lot of fun to lounge by.  I did partake in the free breakfast, your typical "Free Continental breakfast", but free is free.

Decent price. I would recommend as an affordable spot for a night or two.

    Will be back for sure.
