We live in Long Beach and thought we would try the "Garden Room" restaurant. The service was excellent but the food was so-so. Chicken Picata a bit tough and bland. The filet mignon was tough. For anyone staying there, check out other Long Beach restaurants--plenty in all price ranges and cuisine.

I used to love Marriott's, but they are becoming dead to me. This Marriott is emblematic of my growing dislike for the chain. First off, many staff members are indifferent. Secondly they never listen to requests. Third, they reduce quality and service at every turn. One example is the executive lounge for gold/platinum members. Selection of drinks and snacks keeps getting reduced, the lounge is closed on weekends (guess what, the hotel is open, I expect the lounge to be open as well). Lastly, 50% of the time my bill has errors.... Hilton looks better every night! Oh, I spend over 140 nights a year in hotels! I almost forgot, the sports bar is a dive, and not a good one.

surprisingly swank!  i wasnt expecting much (possibly because its an airport marriott in long beach?) but ended up being happy i stayed here.

you must go to the pool.  in fact, i wonder if i could just drive over one day and chill there without being a guest.  they do a great job of insulating the pool from the street.  you cant even tell you are at a busy intersection or near an airport (save for the occasional plane flying overhead).  the patio furniture is nice, stylish, and comfy.  there is also an indoor pool if you ever want to go late night swimming... because the pool is open 24 hours a day!  nice!  the outdoor area also has a fire pit.

the rooms are clean and modern, with vintage pictures of long beach.  the bed was insanely comfortable.

we ordered fettucine alfredo from room service and it was excellent.

i would recommend this for anyone visiting a reelative or friend in long beach, or if you live here and just feel like getting a hotel for a night.  if you dont know anyone around here, it would probably be better to stay downtown because the area around the airport is far from exciting.

It's only getting 3 stars due to the location to the convention center and airport. But the rooms themselves were a bit run down. It reminded me of a Holiday Inn with the chipped ceramic bathroom tiles and mangled "marble" faucet sink area. It didn't even have a normal door for the bathroom, it was a pull thing which wouldn't completely close all the way since the handle was on the outside of the door. We paid about $200 a night for this, I hope they are going to upgrade it soon.

This place just keeps getting better and better. Terrific waiters/waitresses, the food is consistently wonderful, and as a full disclosure, we have the Marriott discount plan (50% dinner), the price of which was paid for by our 4th meal. Still, the food is impeccable, and call ahead to find out the theme of the Sunday brunch: I can only recommend very highly. (We tend to eat in the more reasonably priced restaurant rather than in the more elite steak house: However, both are excellent.

The hotel rooms are over priced, and I always visit in mid-January. (Although if the Marriot doesn't change their prices during the tourist season, then it doesn't really matter when I visit.) The rooms are smallish, with no mini-fridge, a loud and dated looking air conditioner, and unstylish decor. But the rooms ARE clean and provide everything any normal hotel room would (shampoo, conditioner, iron, blow dryer, TV, etc.), so if you're just looking for a place to sleep, then the Marriot is more than suitable.

The gym was small, but had a number of varied equipment. The indoor pool was also a pretty good size, and there is a nice outdoor seating area by the outdoor pool. The Starbucks in the hotel has the worse service. One year I visited and nobody was ever behind the counter, despite it being "open". The second year it seemed as though they had randomly assigned one of their other hotel employees to man the Starbucks kiosk, but they weren't actually trained to work there (they had to look up the price for things).

The Garden Terrace Cafe & Patio has average, pricey food. It did seem as though they tried to use unique, healthy ingredients. So points for originality, even though I would recommend eating around the city instead. They catered an event I attended, and as opposed to the Garden Terrace Cafe, the food was amazing. All the appetizers were interesting and delicious.

Free parking in their private lot is very appreciated. Also all of the employees were incredibly friendly and helpful.

So it's a bit of a mixed bag. I think other hotels provide many of the same services for a bit cheaper, but they do have a few attributes that put them above the rest. But if you're only looking for a room, and aren't likely to use their gym or pool or catering service, you could probably find something more affordable elsewhere.

EDIT: I have been informed that there are now fridges in the room! Woo-hoo! I'm usually not such a hard ass about these things, but during my Long Beach vacation I did find myself needing one.

EDIT 2: I forgot to say that I really loved the fitness and yoga programs you can order for free from the hotel room TV. I used it every day during my stay in 2008.

We took an overnight mini-vacation at this Marriott. Overall, a very nice hotel. No problems with check in or check out, and the staff was uniformly helpful.

They have an indoor and an outdoor pool; we spent the afternoon by the outdoor one. The hotel's lobby Starbucks serves the pool area, and we were thinking of getting some coffees when we discovered it's a Starbucks with a full bar!

So, we risked ordering a Mai Tai and a Margarita.

Really, what were we thinking: a cocktail-selling Starbucks in a hotel lobby serving an outdoor pool?

But our risk was rewarded:  we were delighted to see the bartender (excuse me, Barista-tender) make the drinks old-school style: from scratch, no mixes. Most tasty!

The outdoor pool is a mini-tropical paradise, with swaying palms and abundant waterfalls (and to our incredible good fortune, well-behaved kids). The sun started setting as we swam and sipped, so we did the only logical thing: we tested the bar-ista's Martinis and Manhattans! At $8.25, the drinks are pricey but the portions were (ahem) robust and effective.

Thoroughly relaxed, we went upstairs and changed for dinner, having decided to try out Mr. R's Grille. Short version: the food was excellent but the service sucked.

Errors were made, the service was tediously slow (especially considering it was a Saturday night and only four tables were in use...), and the presentation of the wine was so absurd it actually made me laugh (I really, really tried not to, and I think I did a decent job of masking what I was actually laughing at).

The servers seemed to be (mostly) trying, but didn't have the right training. They didn't seem to understand what was expected at a place where you can pretty easily run up a $125 tab for dinner for two.

Our hotel room was comfortable and quiet, even though it was right next to the airport. They wanted $13 for Internet access, though IMnsHO it should have been included in the room rate.

The newer model a wide/flat screen LG TV was mis-configured so the picture was extra wide, and there was no obvious way to bring up the TV menu to fix it. Instead, there was a TV menu offering lots and lots of pay-per-view options (and some free choices too).

There was no DVD player in the room, so we ended up watching a movie on our laptop. They did have an iPod docking station so we were able to listen to the music of our choice.

Check out time was a vacation-friendly noon.

Before leaving the hotel we tried their Sunday champagne brunch, a sumptuous Asian-inspired feast (predominantly Japanese/Chinese). Also featured were an omelet station, a Belgian waffle station, and a smoothie station, plus the usual breakfast and dessert items. In stark contrast to Mr. R's Grille, the service was excellent.

Apparently, the theme of the brunch varies. Joy G. referred in her review to a Mediterranean theme, and our host mentioned that they sometimes have a carving station for the carnivorous.

Despite having slept well at the hotel, and probably due in no small part to the gargantuan brunch, we both needed naps upon our return home.

Overall, an excellent location for a stay-cation!

This review is regarding an event held at the Long Beach Airport Marriott on December 7.  The customer service that we had in booking, planning and executing the event was wonderful.  Art Rosales was very attentive to us and worked with us to host a great event for a very reasonable cost.  Art was extremely responsive and an excellent partner for our event of nearly 200 people.  The food was also good and the wait staff very professional.  Great job to the Marriott Team and Art in particular.  I recommend this venue and Art's support!

I love a good Marriott! I enjoyed this one. The staff was cool (except for one lady who seemed to have an attitude).

We are arrived earlier than check-in. Rather than make us wait in the lobby, they found adjoining rooms for my friend and I! It was great.

I liked the flat screens, always love Marriott beds and the housekeeping was very quick. Parking ample and free. Airport shuttle nice. All in all it was a great experience.

Not the biggest fan of the food, but I don't think I've ever had a really good meal at a hotel during a conference.

The one thing I did not like was the lack of a full length mirror in the room. WTF? I totally need a full length mirror.

Anyways, I'd go back. Good place for a conference.

I was attending a convention at the hotel & stayed for 2 nights. I was pleasantly surprised by the interior. Parking is free and easy to find in the huge lot out front. The hotel has been renovated fairly recently (I would guess) and the lobby is quite nice. Although I didn't get to enjoy it, the pool area is nicely decorated.

The rooms are spacious and nicely decorated. The view is nothing to write home about but the beds are comfy and the bathroom has marble counter tops and new fixtures. The rooms don't have WiFi but you can get wireless connection in the lobby area.

The walls are thin. Our room had an adjoining door to the room next door and we could hear every word out of the neighbors' mouth.

Overall, a nice place to stay. Very convenient to Long Beach airport.

I apologize that my review won't be very fair because I was SUPPOSED to be looking out of my window and seeing the harbor... NOT a parking lot...

I was supposed to be at the Hyatt with a harbor view room, from which I intended to view the New Years fireworks display off the Queen Mary, but because the Hyatt decided to overbook the hotel and send me over here... I got to look at a parking lot instead...

I have to say thank you to the Marriott for taking in the Hyatt refugees...

But... other than that...

The bed was way more comfortable than the Hyatt's... in fact... I wouldn't mind having their bed... and pillows...

They have bed, bath, and beyond toiletries in these nifty little flip top bottles...

If you put some rocket ships under this baby and moved it over by the water, it would be much better...

One last hurrah for J & E before their departure!

Homies from SD and LA came to the Beach for the big celebration:
a fabulous dinner catered by Michael Curry - this man's a culinary God - and phat after party at the Marriott :)

This Marriott was surprisingly nice - definitely better than LAX. The main lobby was beautifully decorated; marble floors, sleek furniture, accented with astounding flower arrangements, spotless with a clear view of the pool. There was still someone at the front desk around 1 a.m. as we were greeted while passing by.

Because the rooms weren't connected or in vicinity with one another, we all rallied into one. Typical size rooms with plenty of seating areas. The beds were so comfortable, as most hotel beds should be but what is with white comforters?! Bleh. Didn't realize how much that erked us until now...
Flatscreen! The MGM should take notes.
The interior was up to date, classic and stylish - we were all impressed. The bathroom was immaculate and well stocked with Bed, Bath and Beyond toiletries.

Without noticing the balcony right next door, we went on to get lifted in the room. Talk about feeling like you're 16 again! Mgmt happened to stop by to let us know the music was just a tad bit too loud as a cloud of smoke exited from our room. With one big whiff, she informed us that if the cleaning services could detect any type of smoke whatsoever, we'd be charged an extra $250.00 - whoops! Despite this little incident, the lady was really cool and we left things on very good terms. Great staff :)

Probably won't be back at this Marriott because most of us reside in Long Beach but the experience was super fun.

I stayed here for 2 nights. The check-in and check-out processes were easy. The room service was good--prompt and tasted good. The noise from the airplanes did not bother me. I rarely heard or felt anything. The pools are also pretty nice. It's conveniently located near the Long Beach Airport. The Marriott shuttle can come and pick you up from the airport, and also take you to the airport from the hotel. You just have to call the front desk. There is also a Starbucks tucked away in the back of the lobby. It's not full service, but the barista was really sweet, and it's a good fix on-the-go. I am giving four stars because I could not find any staff some of the time, particularly when I needed to shuttle to the airport. Additionally, one driver was particularly rude. Overall, it was a good experience and I recommend them if you are looking for a brief stay.

Conveniently located near the Long Beach airport.
Free parking.
The room was fine.

The service was poor. When we arrived they didn't have rooms available so we checked our bags with the bellhop while we went to grab a late lunch. Came back to find that all the bellhops were apparently on airport runs. Took 15 minutes before we were told that and another few minutes for the person at the front desk to come around and grab our suitcases out of the closet.

The next day, I waited at the coffee bar in the lobby for five minutes before giving up and going out to get coffee.

Also, the walls are very, very thin.

Finally, there's not much else around here. It's a 15-minute drive from downtown LB but that sort of balances out if it's better for you to be close to the airport.

The hotel room was not huge but tastefully decorated.  The bed and pillows were so soft and comfortable...thanks for the extra pillow request.

Rooms were clean and nice.  Food was horrible and cheap and not in the monetary sense.  Dinner ordered prime rib and they were out although server didn't know.  We then order the chipotle Mac n cheese as an appie, tastes like kraft but using water and only 1/4 of the packet with some chipotle thrown in.   Threw my butter from the bread basket in and it was creamy and edible.  For dinner rotisserie chicken and mashed pot. And the Fideo puttanesca.  On the menu says they cook chickens all day long to make sure they're fresh-show leather and mashed were leftover sticky brown crusted.  Yech!  Fideo cheap, no flavor and we paid to add the shrimp.  Still no flavor.   All I can say is the chef there is probably making his bonuses keeping the food cost down serving kraft and cheap Fideo noodles.   Don't even get me started on breakfast.  Can't beleive in all the marriott we have stayed that the food is allowed to be this cheap!

Great location right off the highway. 5-minute drive to seal beach and downtown long beach. The hotel has a great ambiance and the staff are very accommodating. There is also a Starbucks in the lobby, which is always a plus. The rooms are a decent size, but the best part is the bed! It has a memory pillow mattress! One of the best sleeps I've had in a while. The other plus is the pool, it's just like the pictures! (Very resort like). The only negative thing was the shower water pressure was lacking. Other than that, I'd highly recommend this hotel. We will definitely be back next time we're in long beach.

Pros:  Nice both indoor and outdoor pools, concierge, and gym.
Cons:  room and bathroom are small.  Beds and linens are so old, especially the beds...  The bathroom at the concierge area is horrible.  Those tiles could be 20+ yrs old and cracked...  You'll be able to find other hotels that's worth for its price.

I was attending a songwriting and performance workshop and was booked into this hotel by the the program coordinators.  I arrived early even though the check-in time was not until 3pm.  Still, my room was not ready until 5pm.  WTF?!!!  Marriott WTF!!!   I found it unacceptable considering they kept telling me it would be ready in 15, then 30 and finally 2 hours passed without them telling me a damn thing!! It wasn't until I let Queen Bitch out that they decided to rush and get me to my room.  For my troubles what did I receive?  Free copies of my lead sheets.

The room was small, but decorated nicely.  Wi-fi in the lobby and sporadically in my room.  I ordered room service twice and the quesadilla was the only edible item.  At least they had a gift shop where I had the opportunity to purchase snacks and the lobby bar that served decent coffee.  I had a better experience at the SpringHill Suites in Temecula.

This place has the chronic case of 'Ritzy appearance means it's entitled to charge you for EVERYTHING".  Even though I called ahead, the front desk wasn't at all prepared for our large business party when we arrived.  Took them forever to turn on the firepit (45 minutes--we know because we had to remind them every 15 minutes).  Didn't have a hot tub.  I'd prefer a hot tub than the pretty fountain we couldn't even swim in.  The restaurants located in the hotel were EXPENSIVE.  Didn't have complimentary breakfast, a microwave, internet connection better than dial-up, office station, or even working safe.

I'm only really listing my complaints because what they did have--comfy beds, complimentary boarding pass printers, ect--are amenities I expect from a Marriotts.  It's when they don't have certain things that I get irritated.

This was our second time staying at the Long Beach Marriott.  The first time was much better as far as the rooms are concerned.  Last year our room was on the side of the Long Beach Airport runways.  We could watch the beautiful planes take off and land and it felt as if it was just outside our window.  This year we were on the opposite side of the hotel.  The rooms seemed much older, not updated, and not as clean.  The hotel is good overall and they are in the process of remodeling.  The café for breakfast has just been completed and is very nice.  We will see how next year goes.  Definitely would recommend.

I stayed here recently for an event in Long Beach.  It's about a 15-minute drive to downtown.  I had a room on a high floor with a view of the airport runway.  The room was spacious and nice.  I liked all the wood paneling in the hallways.  The staff was nice, but not the most polished.  There is plenty of free parking.  I really like the indoor and outdoor pools as well as the updated gym area.  It's a mid-range hotel, but they are remodeling to improve the appearance.  I really did like the room.  It was clean and peaceful.

It's proximity to Long Beach was excellent.  The staff was great as well.  They were helpful or if they didn't know, they stated so (much appreciated).  If it was directions or a location, they ensured to get you a map and contact information.

Our bed was nice and the room was spacious... (read some peoples review of the rooms sizes...honestly, how much room do you need if you are only using it as a place to lay your head?)  Our bathroom was nice as well.

I would have to say my complaints would range in a bit of the point of "Really!!"
Really! No hot tub?  Two, count them, TWO pools?  as well as large relfective pool big enough to be a hot tub!!!  Really!!
Really! In the day and age that some cities provide free internet (Anchorage, Ak), you still charge!  Really!!  Most airports anymore have free wifi so you can check in...Really!!

Other than that, I would stay here, just know I won't have a hot tub nor will I be able to use my laptop without a connection charge.

Really enjoyed our stay here.  It's so convenient to the 405 freeway, the airport and everything fun in Long Beach.

Our room (on the 6th floor) was spacious, very clean and the bed was super comfortable.  Nice amenities too.

My husband and I dined with another couple in Phil's Steak House.  The food and service was excellent.   We also ate breakfast and had an early dinners in the Cafe.  Every meal we had was good to excellent.  Menu prices for both restaurants seem average.  Which is a good thing considering the convenience of having two nice places to eat on site.
(BTW:  The breakfast buffet on Sunday was excellent!   They offer an omelette and waffle  bar.  Lots of fresh fruit, even creamy hot oatmeal.
What's not to like!)

Having a Starbucks right in the lobby is an added plus!

I was invited to a lunch event in the honor of the US ambassador from Pakistan.
Well the parking is plenty and easy here. As we entered the hotel a person guided us to the event. Promptly we were showed to our seats.
The Ambassador Sherry Rehman has been a journalist for twenty years and then was elected to national assembly and later promoted to a ambassador.
She gave a speech on how to allow religious tolerance in Pakistan for the minorities and to remove the blasphemy laws. Of course she had seen plenty of opposition.
She was given awards by various organizations including city of LA and the Lawyers of LA.  In between was squeezed a great buffet lunch.
In the end the ambassador explained that they need to have better teachers so the large population can be educated about religious tolerance.

This is an average hotel, even for a Marriott. The rooms are decent, but in need of some updating. The rest of this hotel seems to always have some construction going on and this stay was no different. One of the elevators was having some work done to it and part of the lobby was being worked on. At least I guess they're trying to keep it up to date. The concierge lounge has some decent choices for breakfast and they usually have soft drinks and water available throughout the day. One of my big gripes is that it closes on the weekend.

Great little hotel pool inside and out.  Outside one was unusually pretty. Rooms are a little warn. Carpet not terribly pleasing.  Bar and restaurants were good.  Free internet is a waste of your time.  Just pretend it isn't an option and that there's no free wifi.  Water pressure in my shower was incredibly low. Overall a pretty decent property with a large pool and deck area in the back.
Rooms are nicely sized, but the tv could be be slightly larger.
Concierge lounge features a nice breakfast spread.
Ample free parking.

Somewhat musty odor from the outdated HVAC system; I think it basically just recirculates the air in the room: Could use a good cleaning or update.
Towels could be replaced, as some show significant wear.
Mattress has some saggy spots, could be replaced.

Overall a decent property, as far as airport Marriott go. I prefer the Renaissance as it located in downtown LB and provides for easy walkable dinner/drinking options.

I came here with a group for salsa lessons last Friday night in the sports bar. It was really only our group and 3 other random people taking lessons. Lessons were focused on beginners. The teacher was nice, but lessons were $10 a person. I've had free lessons that accomplished just as much.
There was suppose to be social dancing afterwards, but there wasn't really a crowd there so we ended up heading elsewhere.

There's free parking, which was a plus!!

We had a great stay at this hotel.  Although they are going through some serious renovations in their lobby area, it wasn't much of an inconvenience to us. The only annoyance was having to wait so long for their makeshift "restaurant" for breakfast. And then we paid $15.95 per adult and $5.95 per child for the buffet.  Seemed reasonable until we actually saw the offerings. I probably would have preferred eating at an IHOP for cheaper. But this was the only "downer" of our stay here. Everything else was great.

Free parking in their spacious lot was much appreciated. Front desk staff were wonderful, and even offered my husband additional points credited to his Elite Membership for the inconvenience of the renovations going on. Our room was modern, clean and comfortable. Bathroom area was quite spacious. Requests from housekeeping were answered very quickly. We also were happy to see that there was free wi-fi, but I'm not sure if that was just offered to Elite Members...

We had some gloomy weather while we were here, so our family much appreciated the indoor pool. So convenient and the kids loved it! The fitness facility is quite large and bathrooms throughout the hotel property were beautiful and modern.

This isn't marketed as a luxury hotel, but its level of comfort was quite good! I can't recommend this hotel enough and wouldn't hesitate sending my family and friends here.

So I was just here to see my dad and step mom... it was a pretty clean hotel overall with a spacious entry and two on site restaurants (I will get into one of them in another review). Lots of free parking surround this place and they also have a valet if you want one.

From what I can tell they have a lot of larger ballroom events here. My dad and step mom had been down for a HS reunion. There was also some kind of martial arts deal going on here as well with kids from all over the place here.

PRO TIP: While in walking distance to Long Beach Airport, they have a shuttle van to take you back and fourth if you would like.

The rooms here appear to be nice and spacious. However the bathrooms are miniature (at least in some wings). For example the room that my parents had (yes I was in it) had only a standup shower stall and a toilet in it. There was no tub, let alone the shower stall/toilet area was extremely small. Outside of the door for this area was a miniature countered sink. These things were barely large enough to get the job done. Hence the mark down to 3 stars.

There was a maintenance issue with the TV. It had sound but no video. They had an engineer sent up within half an hour and he fixed the TV in about 3 minutes. So that was an important thing.

Overall the rooms appeared to be clean had a couple of chairs, convenient airport access, close to the 405 and free parking.

Me and my friends found this place on booking.com for a reasonable price so we decided to go ahead and give them a try! Arrived and it was Amazing not only was the hotel conveniently located but it's beautiful! Clean and ALLL the staff are very friendly almost all staff greeted us with a smile even the house keeping' amazing' . We checked in with Courtney ! And OMG' she was awesome. Me and my boyfriend are younger  couple younger then the typical people who iv seen come here and working in customer service I know how it is when you see two young people walk in... You wanna get them in and out of your face! That's at least what I was expecting since we had problems getting a rental due to age and people judging us and giving us bad customer service cuz our age but oh no not here!!' Courtney was delightful and sooooooooooooooooooo nice she helped us checked in & I was two hours early with no hassle she got me in and let me know it's ok! And recommended the 7th floor gave us a amazing view and a coupon for buba gumps ! She is full of good energy  and a great personality I will definitely be back and hope she checks us in again! she made my long trip from the Bay Area worth it! Honestly! I am so pleased with her service I made a yelp account just to let her business know she is a amazing worker !!!!!! Go Courtney !!!!!!! Your awesome !

Very nice hotel - has indoor and outdoor pool and the best fitness room at a hotel I've been to!

Staff is friendly - restaurant is decent - no fee for parking and its located close to the Long Beach airport.

It is not that close to downtown Long Beach where all the excitement is though and it doesn't have a hot tub, which I find enjoyable on those long days and nights of business travel.

Good airport parking across the street (but in door to door walking distance about a mile and a half) from ol' Long Beach airport. With taxes/surcharges/whatever else they charge, it ends up being about the same as LGB airport parking, $17-19/day. Like the airport, it is an uncovered lot, but it seems a little safer as hotel personnel are constantly buzzing about the premises.

My friends and I stayed here for 2 nights over the weekend. When we walked into the lobby, i was instantly sold...it looked clean, new, modern and it even smelled good! Checking in was a breeze. We got a 2 queen bed room spacious enough for the 3 of us. Just like the lobby, our room was clean and looked new. The view was overlooking the airport runway...i enjoyed looking at the planes take off/landing. They have 2 swimming pools. The outdoor one has pool hours but the indoor one was open 24 hrs, which was nice because we enjoyed the late night dip. The reason why i didn't give 5 stars was because they didn't have a microwave downstairs.

No complaints about the concierge lounge: the food was tasty, access to wifi-computer-printer, and comfortable seating (although not enough seating to accommodate the volume of people enjoying the space).

The rooms were standard, and in my experience, in the adequate range. It's obvious there isn't much insulation in the walls because noises from attached units could be heard (e.g. Water running, toilets flushing, voices, footsteps). The temperature control mechanism is sorely outdated, and while adjustable, does not allow for a specific temperature to be identified or maintained. HVAC is loud and likely due to the age and design of the unit.

I appreciate the *free* self-park, friendly and knowledgeable staff, hotel amenities, and Starbucks within the lobby. The location is good...and it is a Marriott property which ensures a consistent standard of comfort.

I like this Marriott location, it's close to Long Beach Airport and they have a free shuttle to take you to the airport.

They have a Starbucks Coffee kiosk, a bar, a breakfast buffet area and a steak house all in one hotel. The gym area has just been renovated. They're pool is always inviting. But if you don't want to get sunburned, they also have an indoor pool.
I prefer lounging by the poolside.

I've been here for a few business meetings and their meeting rooms are spacious.

Their sports bar offers $1 tacos on Friday night and some light bites like cheese, crackers, veggies and popcorn.

The service is nice. There's plenty of parking.

I like this location. If you walk towards the back lot, you can actually watch the planes fly by. Fun!  There's also a slight chance you might catch a fighter jet flying by or taking off.

'Sorry Maverick, the pattern is full.' We just had ourselves a Top Gun moment. You're welcome.

This review is mostly for the airport parking which is run through a company called Global Airport Parking, but the service is given at the Long Beach Marriott and through its employees.

Airport parking in Long Beach is not as crazy easy as it is near LAX, lacking the shit-tons of options at your disposal and many different price points. Really, the only options you have are to park at the airport ($17 a day) or park at the Marriott or the Holiday Inn ($14 a day plus fees). I was quite mad since last time I parked at LAX there was some deal and it ended up being about $10 a day. Oh well.

The service itself is really great and unless you give yourself no time to get to the airport and through security, it's not a hassle at all. The shuttle ride takes about 5 minutes. When you check in you go to the front desk and speak with a Marriott employee and they give you a parking pass. You park in the back of the hotel in the reserved Global Airport Parking spots-- not many of them, but they're there!

Weird thought-- since the hotel itself offers free parking, what's to stop someone from just parking in the hotel parking and hopping on the airport shuttle? I wonder if they actually surveillance the lot...HMMMM....

Anywho, upon return they give you a card to call and they pick you up! Very simple, very fast, easy. Just wish it wasn't over $50 to park my car for the weekend.

Also-- I was worried about having to tip the drivers because I had no cash on me. But the drivers really did not deserve a tip so I lucked out. Yes, they placed my tiny suitcase in the trunk, but NO niceties beyond that. No small talk. No "Have a good trip!" Neither of my drivers ever spoke a word to me! Paying in access of $50 for parking for the weekend AND tipping a sub-par driver? That would suck.

The hotel employees (non-drivers) though were all sweet and helpful. And the pool area looks great! I wouldn't mind staying here based on those experiences.

I stayed there for my sisters wedding and they made it a point to have us on the same floor with the rest of the party. Our room was really clean when we entered! It just seemed fresh. After the wedding, we had a lot of people stay and celebrate in one room. We went to the bar inside of the hotel and the bartenders were so nice to me and our friends and family! The drinks they serve was really good!
The next morning, we grubbed on the buffet and they just had TONS of selections. It was all delicious. Our stay was amazing.

This review is for EVENTS only...
If I am trying to give YOU my business you would think that any type of follow through on inquiries would be a priority. I e-mailed though the hotel website to ask information about hosting a special event at this hotel. The event manager got back to me within a day or two which is usual, with information regarding menus and prices . I responded asking to make an appointment to receive a quote and to look at the ballrooms. Did not hear from ANYONE. OK.. Maybe they didn't get the e-mail... Maybe on vacation.. Maybe they don't have an assistant..
So I'm thinking I will re-send another e-mail. I wouldn't have e-mailed to do my OWN follow up, but I get it.. People are busy and e-mails get missed.. So I e-mail the event manager AGAIN; asking if we can get a quote and take a look at their ballrooms, she then replies and says she is available with a day and time and if it works.. I send a reply informing her that it does. It is usual to get a an e-mail confirming that appointment right ? ... Do I get a confirmation??? NO! I have dealt with event coordinators for parties and events and I would have to say this is the WORST especially for a huge hotel like the Marriott. No customer service, no follow up, no follow through.. I will take my business elsewhere.

I usually stay marriott and this location was nothing to be impressed about. Night clerk faris was very rude and bothered to be there or do his job. There was no water pressure or hot water and the iron didn't work. I was disappointed, it was nothing like the JW in the desert. I was happy with the lobby area and the little cafe/Starbucks they offered. Parking is very tight and fills up quick, the rude staff that was unwilling to help was what really left the bad taste.

Clean room and clean areas. Checked in as a Gold member so we enjoyed the Lounge on the 7th floor. Conveniently, we were roomed just down the hall. Spacious and the food was good.

Went through the whole hotel and everything was very clean. I know a few conferences were going on at the time so the service was good regardless of the amount of people.

The Mexican restaurant inside the Marriott, Tamarindos has a very good chicken tortilla soup. Good flavor. Lots of chunky veggies and fresh avocado.  It came with sour cream on top, which I took off-but, overall a nice  bowl of soup for a hotel setting.  The guacamole is also made fresh at the bar.  My husband had the carne asada tacos which were typical size and he liked them.
As for the hotel, the rooms have NO FULL LENGTH MIRRORS. Nice pool. The hotel smells very nice.

We checked in on a Friday afternoon for one night stay. The lobby was nice (not great) and the lady at the front counter who checks you in was pleasant and helpful.
I looked around and saw a pool in the back. It was nice! Has water falls and lots of tables to sit and lounge in.
Our room came with a king size bed (it's big!) and a 36" LG flatscreen. The decor was modern and tasteful (see lounge chair). Overall a nice experience!

I stayed at the Marriott for the 2014 NSTA conference.  The hotel and my school district had a miscommunication and upon arrival I was told my room was not paid for.  After a quick call and a talk with Richard, the desk manager, it was all taken care of.  Richard even upgraded my room because of the unconvinced.  The beds are comfy and the food at the coffee shop and Mexican Restaurant/ bar was good.  I never heard any noise from the airport.  I would stay again without a second though.

If I could give negative stars for this hotel I would.  One star is far to generous.  We were here at 8am and told we could get early check in. 10 HOURS LATER the room was ready.  We were lied to as to why the room wasn't ready; they accommodated people at our convention with rooms before us and we were here earlier; and THEN they gave us rooms with double beds Instead of Queen beds and expected us not to have a problem with it.  We have 250----yes we brought 250 people here for the WEEKEND For a convention and the service is absolutely horrible.  We are prepaid booked and they claim they are "too booked"  to accommodate us....uhhh, yeah you are booked with OUR GROUP MEMBERS and we are spending thousands of dollars here for the Soroptimist Spring Conference here.  On top of all that shots of whiskey here are $12 and a house glass of wine $12; and a diet coke filled with ice is $4! Marriott management needs to take a look at their customer service because it is non existant.  Oh and one more thing.....they made a member sign a WAIVER for a TO GO box of food from dinner.  CHEERS!!!!! GO STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!

this is a really nice hotel overall, but being next to an airport just kills the relaxations!
lobby is nice and clean, outdoor pool area is very well designs and built, fountains are nice,
hallways/elevators are nice, and the room, like every Marriott, is cozy comfortable clean and great!

like i said before, the airport and airplanes taking off/arriving kills the mood for the pool and during the day can be heard in the room

Certain Marriott hotels are a hit or a miss and so sometimes when booking with the Marriott online, you never know what to expect. This place was beautiful, the room was simple but of course it was clean and the bed was comfortable. Our view was of the front parking lot but that's not something to complain about as we are in Long Beach and there's not much of a view of anything special to see.

Free parking is a huge plus and the lobby and buffet area was really nice and well decorated for the holidays. We were here for my cousin's wedding and booked this hotel since they blocked off some rooms for us. Very convenient as this place is only about 3 miles from the reception area and we didn't have to drive too far after the wedding.

The next day, the bridal party had a brunch get together and that was nice. Mimosas were served, we got an area up the stairs reserved for the party and the buffet was great. Even when the lady messed up my omelette, she immediately made me another one and didn't have me wait in line again.

People at the front desk were very pleasant and our room was very quiet (even though our kids weren't) so we definitely had a nice little stay here, even if it was just for one night.

From the outside it looks like the hotel could use a paint job but I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into the lobby it was very clean and up to date. As well my room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Due to the location of this hotel I was really surprised they did not have the Mexican cantina restaurant open for lunch time instead you had to eat at the hotel restaurant, don't get me wrong the food at the restaurant was fine, typical of what you'd see at a Marriott. Please note this hotel is right next to the Long Beach Airport one would assume that you would be here in airplanes all day and all night however the hotel is well insulated. Yeah for Free parking. PS. For some reason only local channels worked on the TV.

Came here to meet a friend for drinks who was staying here, so my review is for the bar and lobby area only.  Located close to the Long Beach Airport this is a large Marriot location offering the consistent high standards of other Marriot locations.  There is free parking in the private lot, the lobby area is bright and colorful and has a Starbucks right in there.

The bar was clean, the staff friendly and the liquor pours excellent.  We sat in very comfortable seats and enjoyed a few drinks.  We ordered a car service with the concierge to take us to dinner, they also provided a few locations for dinner and were very efficient.  This is a great location, nice hotel for drinks or a stop over convenient to the airport.

AH-MAZING experience here at the Long Beach Marriott, literally blew my mind as to my entire trip. I believe the foundation of a good getaway begins with your stay, and that's exactly how it started and ended.

The LBM offers free shuttle service from LGB to and from the hotel, which is sweet. It runs early in the AMs from about 6am-1030pm. The shuttle runs from the hotel every 20 mins on the hour so four trips per hour. They are quick, professional and very informative and reliable. If you're coming from LGB, you can call the hotel front desk and they'll send a shuttle your way ASAP, just wait on the center island. There was a huge parking lot at the hotel since it doubles as a parking lot for those at the airport so it can be really full at some times. In case you're worried, there's also a parking lot behind the hotel that also has access directly to the hotel. FREE PARKING, oh yeeeeh.

The lobby is currently being renovated, but it's not that bad. It's just this center piece that is hanging around, doesn't really get in the way. The lobby is clean and has lots of room for sitting and chilling, including an in hotel Starbucks and a nice tv. It's a good lounge area to chill. It also has a breakfast/lunch/dinner across the hall with a gorgeous outdoor and indoor seating that overlooks the hotel pool. It has a fire side, lots of chairs and the pool is clean and there's also a miniature waterfall right there. Indoor pool as well in case it gets chilly and a pretty stock with WORKING machines for those who doesn't want to skip a work out.

The staff are the front desk were extremely helpful and knew the answers to all my questions. My online reservations were met and I got the room that I had requested. I was initially worried since being next to the airport it would be loud and a disturbance- but never even heard a place. They have a really sweet curfew here in LG. Our room was on the 7th floor- which will require you to stick your key card in before allowing you to press the 7 button (it's because the concierge lounge is also on that floor). I figured out the trick to getting the button to work, stick it in once really quick, take it out and jam it in again. The second time you'll be able to press the button.

The room itself was spacious and clean. I checked all the corner and the bathroom, loaded with towels and toiletries and the shower head worked like magic- absolutely no problem and has amazing lighting for selfies! Lots of pillows and huge bed, nice view of LGB outside the hotel and the TV wasn't ancient and the room had a safe!

I slept like a baby, which is rare since hotels aren't my thing but the experience really did tie together as a whole. The trip itself was amazing, but the hotel sweetened the deal and made sure I had good rest, access to the airport and I wasn't annoyed by the next door noise or any problems checking in or out of the place.

I highly recommend this hotel for anybody who is staying in LB. I was going to stay in downtown, but I'm glad I chose the airport one instead. Plus, it's way easier to get around town and right off the freeway.

I'm a dedicated Marriott guy, I rack up about 120 nights a year in hotel rooms. Therefore my frame of reference on this hotel review is other Marriott properties. A little off the beaten path, this hotel isn't much to look at from the street. Pull into a alley way to valet park the car and walk immediately into the lobby. Lobby is nice albeit a bit dark, staff at front desk were very helpful. Desk staff immediately recognized my gold status however did not offer the usual upgrade-whoops Marriott!

Now the bad news: the rooms are beat up and somewhat dated. Scuff marks and dings were apparent on floor molding and around doors. The room wasn't 100% clean and found hair (which wasn't mine) in the tub - double whoops Marriott.

Probably a better hotel option for LB guests somewhere out there on the "strip".

Hmmm... This place was so nice when looking at it when you walk in. The chandelier is nice, the chairs are very nice, lots of natural light from the windows, just overall looks like an amazing area and the pool area is one of the best I've seen. Honestly, that's the only reason I even put stars for this hotel. When we got to the room, it was clean, and I didn't see any bugs. But the reason why I don't like this place is because the AC didn't work in our room, and after 4 people coming in to look at it, it was still broken. So we left the AC on while we went to a party. When we returned at 12 am (after SIX HOURS of being gone) the room was still just as warm as we left it. That means in THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, we had to move to a different room, and we still paid full price after ALLLLLL the inconvenient events we experienced. The manager even seemed irritated to be dealing with us :( we're just trying to be comfortable :(
however, the security guards was nice in helping us move so late in the evening. And all the maintenance staff was nice I guess. They just came in did their job and left.
TL;DR: People are nice. Lobby is nice. Pool is nice. Room is not.

I liked this hotel overall.

Sleep: blackout curtains work well.  The heat/cool is always on but is easily adjusted to your ideal temperature.  The sheets are washed in sensitive skin friendly soap, and the bed is comfy.

The bathroom: shower is hot and has medium pressure.  There is a vanity mirror next to the toilet but your bathroom shares a vent with your neighbors room which can be a horrifying reality when getting ready.  There is no full length mirror.  Makeup was a challenge with no mirror you can get close to.  The hair dryer is just ok.  The Kleenex is very soft.

The breakfast was quite varied and delicious.  The gym was an 8 out of 10 for sure!

We really enjoyed the pool area. Great landscaping-felt like we were in an oasis! Also, the lobby was top notch-well designed.

Thanks for the Reply Art.  I actually am a bit surprised at your reply, hence the reduced stars.  I would of expected something a bit more professional rather than trying to chalk it up to confusion and trying to justify you penny pinching policies.

I understand that water in a room is usually a premium charge, but @ $4 for that small bottle is very  insulting.  Your room cost was already $150+ and it's not like the hotel is a premium facility or location.  The water was not even flavored!

Second, I know you do have free internet in the guest rooms, but do you realize that the speed is extremely slow, probably slower than Dial Up.  Not even talking about streaming, web browsing is almost impossible.  Using an APP on my iPad to just check some sports scores was almost impossible.  In essence, the free internet is really useless.  Seems now days, all the hotels we've been in have given a satisfactory internet in the guest rooms...hotels we've paid less than $75 and more than $250.

As far as the continental breakfast, we've been in much less hotels that at least include impressive continental breakfasts. I'm not saying you have to have a 5 Star Chef prepare it, but I'm sure you can take some of the profits from your $4/water and spring for some donuts or croissants, Coffee, Milk and OJ between 7am-10am.

Last, THERE WAS a sign at one station that said Free Child's Ticket for the Aquarium and if I remember correctly, it was with an adult paid ticket. I should of taken a picture so there would be no question!  My only gripe is that when your staff saw that sign, they didn't bother to see what was going on with it.  It was just dismissed and I was left saying, "But the sign says..."

It just seems that your are "nickle & diming" and a portion of your staff was just being lazy.

The lobby and restaurants were very nice. Outdoor space around pool are very nicely landscaped. Free parking. Would stay here again.

They did a beautiful job renovating this Marriott. I wasn't particularly looking forward to my stay here because I'm generally not impressed with standard Marriott's. I prefer the Ritz, JW, or Renaissance for their modern, more lavish amenities. The rooms in most Marriott hotels are just not very inspiring.

I was pleasantly surprised and impressed when I walked into the lobby. The renovations were absolutely fabulous. Loved the modern contemporary lobby, lounge, and bar area. Loved the open feel of the bar as it flowed ever so graciously into the lounge area, which transitioned ever so delicately into the outside pool area. The pool area draws you in from the panorama like window settings placed throughout the lobby lounge. An almost resort like setting, the pool and lazy river are tastefully accompanied by modern lounge chairs, and tables with umbrellas. Love the terrace cafe which offers dining al fresco in the event you'd like to take a break from sun bathing.

My room was modern with all the standard amenities. I did enjoy the bathroom layout; plenty of space to spread out all your goodies. There are even two additional outlets in the restroom for your blow dryer, flat iron, etc; Four outlets total in the bathroom area. Winning! Overall, rooms here are still typical of the standard Marriott hotel. No real major difference in that regard.

Sadly, I cannot speak to the quality of service at all. I'm an Elite member, and I spend LOTS of dinero staying in Marriott hotels across the country. Yet, they do not seem to value their Elite members here. No welcome, no upgrade, (all rooms are the same?) no offer to have the standard complimentary breakfast or invitation to use the concierge lounge, no offer for points or breakfast...just here's you're key and the elevators will be to your right.

Thanks Marriott Long Beach. The new renovation is beautiful, but might I suggest you at least acknowledge your Elite guests! We are Elite because are loyal to the Marriott brand. We spend thousands of dollars in order to achieve Elite status. A simple thank you would not hurt.

Stayed here on a Saturday with my sisters for our Sisters Day. Parking is free, we got to checking in early, our room was ok. They have two swimming pools one outdoor and one indoor. We had some appetizers( beef nachos, chicken wings, ceviche and salad) and drinks( Bloody Mary-my sister like it a lot and 2 pitcher of Fat Tire for $42-) out total came to $117 at Tamarindo's Margarita Bar & Cantina. The hotel staffs and restaurant servers are very friendly. I would definitely go back.

Hotel staff is very polite and helpful.
Close to airport.
Nice fitness area (no extra charge).

Outside pool area and waterfall smelled like sewage.
No jacuzzi/hot tub
Every time a nearby room flushes a toilet you can hear it.
Not close to convention center.

We were in town for a conference at the convention center. The organization putting on the conference recommended this hotel as conveniently located to the convention center. It is not! No fault of the hotel for the bad information. If you are visiting for a similar reason be advised you'll need to take a car to the convention center. We took a cab the first time and he seemed to take advantage of us not knowing the area. Long, round about way to get there which cost $35. We started using Uber after that and the ride was only $13.

The hotel itself is decent and has a cafe and a Mexican food place. Convenient but can't comment on the food as I didn't eat at either.

The pool area could be nice if the surrounding waterfall feature didn't smell like sewage. Gross!

A staff member told us that the hotel used to have a jacuzzi but got rid of it to add the indoor pool. Lame trade off in my book.

The fitness area was clean, had newer cardio machines, weight machines, free weights assorted apples and oranges for post work out. Only issue was that treadmills were all wobbly when you used them.

The pricing seemed a bit ridiculous and over the top too. A $90 difference between Saturday night and Sunday night, with Saturday being the cheapest day. When I inquired about this I was told since this is a business hotel the rates are cheaper on the weekends. Good to know.

If you're here for something at the convention center do yourself a favor and stay at a hotel near there. There is a lot more to do around those hotels and they are close to the pier and beach. Sadly this was even more expensive than some hotels that would have been much more convenient for us.

I don't care how nice this place looks. This place should be called the "FRAUD" motel from hell. I'm not trying to be mean, but I seriously wouldn't go there...SERIOUSLY.

I was forced to rate it by the way. I wouldn't have given a single star if it were up to me!

Checked in @10pm and out @9am.
The Front desk concierge was very warm and welcoming when we checked in. The hotel was very clean and well decorated.

Our room was located on the executive 7th floor with a view facing the airport and swimming pool. (Request the odd room numbers if possible since those are the ones with the "view")
Cannot stress enough how comfy the bed are here-slept like a baby on air!

The morning after we enjoyed our complimentary breakfast from the buffet overlooking the pool. Food is pretty tasty, they have a fruit buffet, huge meat selection which included: bacon, chicken sausage, sausage like and breakfast potatoes. They also offer a build-your-own-omelet bar!

Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would happily rerun for another great night!
We would recommend this place to all of our friends and family!

It's close to the airport, but the view is actually amazing and the planes come in occasionally do there's not much noise. I'd recommend this location.

The staff here, every darn one of 'em, are top notch. I cannot complain about the level of service or friendliness of anyone I encountered.

The rooms in the hotel appear to be partially remodeled, but there were a couple of older pieces of furniture in my room including a desk chair that leaned uncomfortably to the right. Considering that when I travel for business, I typically spend any waking time in the hotel room at the desk working, that was more than a minor inconvenience. Also, the electrical outlets in the room are in really stupid places. Why would anyone put the only outlet anywhere near the desk behind said desk so the guest has to move the heavy marble top desk in order to plug in a computer, phone, etc? Seems a bit odd and unnecessarily inconvenient.

My other beef with the hotel is the noise level. It's not that the guests were loud, but the walls are paper thin, so all noise in halls or nearby rooms is heard. Also, the plumbing seems to be an issue. At 5:00 a.m., someone on the floor was clearly taking a shower as the pipes were making a lot of noise and there was a loud hissing noise that came from where the shower in my room was. This noise was loud enough to wake me up. I put in a 13 hour workday that day and really could have used more sleep.

Also, I was downgraded from a King room again. Not sure why Marriotts seem to downgrade me so often, but it's fairly frustrating when it happens.

Overall, the appearance of my room and the hotel was good. The room was mostly clean aside from the shower. There was soap scum on the tile and a dead bug in the shower. Housekeeping also did not clean the shower after my first night. Makes me wonder how well they ever clean the bathrooms in the rooms. The pool area is very pretty and seems to be a lovely place for ducks to gather.

Couldn't find my reservation, I even had a booking number and printed email of my confirmation.

Told all rooms full, comped me a room they said was comparable to their hotel next door at the clarion..

It was not like the Mariot ! it was a piece of crap.

They had the nerve to charge my credit card for the room! Fraud!!!!!

** this hotel is engaged in credit card fraud **

Would rate 0 stars if I could.

Had a blast at this Marriott, super clean, service was great the manager remembered my name from check in and kept saying have a great day....name. Customer service from the front desk staff, security gaurd to the Starbucks employee are friendly.

Pools (indoor/outdoor) were clean, gym was clean and had green apples for guests.

Overall I liked this hotel and would stay here again.
