Hi.  After finding the Quality Inn down the street from where we were visiting, it was at a good location from anyplace that you may need to get to.  We had rented two rooms, both with two beds and at least my room was very clean.  At about 9:30 PM. on a Wednesday night, a food truck pulled up in the back parking lot of the motel and just like ants running to sugar, all of these teens to 20 year olds are waiting to place their orders from this truck.  What was odd about it is why a motel parking lot for one, and how come the manager is not doing anything about it?  It would not really would have been a problem if the people were quiet about it, but it sounded like fools letting out from a bar after two in the morning.  I called down to the office to complain at around 11 PM., and the person I talked to told me "Oh yeah, they come by a couple of nights a week and park their truck there.  They should be gone by midnight."  I thought what the hell is this, aren't we the paying customer who's trying to get some rest here?  By morning time, we went down for the continental breakfast, only to find not much there, and one of the reasons were the maids were taking up a couple of tables helping themselves to breakfast.  Another complaint to the person behind the counter, another sorry answer.  In the other rented room that we had, we found someones half eaten bagel on the floor that the maids were "suppose" to clean but missed.  After complaining about all of that, their solution was to give us a 10% discount to stay again at Q.I., I don't think so!

The problem is....do not expect this place to be in the same level as a $150 to $175 per night hotel.  Come on now people, what do you expect when paying around $70 per night.  I've stayed in many rooms at this price range in my lifetime, this place was right on.

The location is idea and very close to the cruiseliners.  The continental breakfast was above average. The crew there was very helpful and courteous.  The rooms were clean, and the most important to me is that the sheets and pillow covers be fresh and clean....and they were.

And no, this is not in the ghetto part of L.B.  like the other yelper says.  I'll come back here again no problem.

Stayed here during the first week in April.  For the price, a very good room.  Microwave, mini-fridge, coffee maker and most importantly, a clean bathroom.  The bed was O.K., but the pillows were way to soft and weak.  Located far enough away from Downtown to be relatively safe.  The only drawback is 4 or 5 businesses have their backdoors facing the motel parking lot.  Many times during my stay, I could hear loud voices and big truck engines idleing while they delivered to the Quik-e-mart and other businesses.  Overall a good stay and I would stay there again.

By the way, this is now a Quality Inn.  No longer a Comfort Inn.

$79 per night buys you a serviceable room (clean) without any front desk charm, a continental breakfast, a mini microwave (ours had two black holes burned through the front window--which was promptly replaced by a brand new one), and a mini-fridge--no not one of those stocked with the booze and water and snacks that cost your left kidney.

Oh: and the pillows were the 3=1 thickness kind. Wimpy wimpy wimpy.

The matress was as comfortable as a wooden plank with some thin batting.

The grout between the tiles had seen better times and really needed cleaning.

The place was clearly older and needs some rework, but would do in a pinch when nothing else, like the back of a camper truck or a good tent is available.

So come here with minimal expectations and I'm sure you'll find this place will meet your wildest minimal expectations.

Someone from Choice Hotels needs to visit this hotel and ask that it come up to their standards.  After arriving, we checked into our room and noticed how dirty and outdated it was.  As someone had mentioned previously, the carpet had never seen a steam cleaner and the bed spreads looked like they could use a cleaning as well.  We checked out and after much discussion with the desk clerk, who could not get a hold of the manager, we left.  We went to another hotel in the area and were told this place had bed bug problems as well.  To make a long story short, the clerk did not remove our charges properly.  After a couple of days of being told the manager was out and was the only one that could take care of our billing issue, we got an e-mail from the manager explaining his "cancellation policy!"  Really?  The customer service team at Choice Hotels said the Quality Inns are privately owned and operated, so they could do nothing.  Still fighting this after 2 weeks (haven't spoken to the manager either).  If this had come out of my own pocket, I'd be camped out in their lobby until it was fixed!  Dirty place, bad management.

Yes the decor is a bit outdated but you're not at the Ritz. For what
you pay, you get a lot. Front desk let me check in early which was so
helpful. Clean rooms and nice staff. I have 2 little ones and it
includes awesome breakfast. Afternoon, my kids swam for an hour. Clean
pool. It's 3 miles from the beach so we got some breeze and sunshine.

We stayed at Quality Inn for our son's soccer tournament. The hotel was a perfect location just a few miles from the beach. The boys had a great time swimming at the pool when their games were over. We had some problems with our room and the GM Will Sur was very prompt and accommodating. I have to commend his excellent service. The room was a descent size, clean, had a small frig and microwave.

I am hovering between two stars and three. Right now, I'm stuck on two.

I had a group going on a Cruise out of Long Beach. Some of us flew in, some drove, but 90% arrived the night before the cruise. Based on my previous experience with Quality Inn, I felt that although there weren't good reviews, the service and quality I received at the other locations would carry though. There were several inconsistencies which have resulted in my low score.

1/ Reservation/Booking - I went online to find which hotels offered the park and cruise package and which would be the most reasonable. I chose this location due to it's location and the package it offered. I booked a room for 4 with parking and shuttle for $109.99. When my sister called for her reservation she was quoted $139.99 plus tax for the same package and was told that my package price would be increased. I had to call and speak with Will to confirm that my price would not change. He told me that the clerks were paid a commission when they booked rooms at a higher cost. This doesn't seem right on a package.

2/Shuttle service - The service when mentioned at the time of booking sounded like there was a shuttle every 15 minutes. In actuality you have to make a reservation and they can only accommodate 9 persons at a time. So we made our reservations in advance when departing, but several in our group took taxi's because they didn't want to be left behind. We weren't told that we needed reservations on the way back, so after waiting awhile we called for a pickup. When the shuttle arrived another couple tried to jockey us off the shuttle, even though they had just arrived. When we returned to the hotel, the manager came out and scolded our driver for letting us on and then proceeded to tell us that we should have split our group up and should have let the other couple get in.

3/Mold in the bathroom - I took pictures of the bathroom to show the mold in the shower area.

What was nice -

Location - convenient to the airport, shopping, eating and the downtown area is $20 by taxi for a van that seats 6

Employee's - the shuttle driver, clerk at check-in and maids were very courteous

Room - the room was spacious and for me, the bed was comfortable. If you can't carry your luggage upstairs, ask for a downstairs room.

All in all, the kicker was the manager scolding the staff in front of us and making everyone uncomfortable.

I recommend that they make a little flyer that explains the pickup and drop-off process. It might be very helpful to everyone involved.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news.. but I do not lie. And therefore I must say I would never allow my family to return to this hotel.

Upon first arrival our two rooms we were told were not ready yet... no "come back in an hour" or anything just not ready. Alright I guess.. even though we just drove some 7 hours and wanted to put our stuff up. So we tailgated with our friends for a while.. and then went and asked again. Yay we can go to OUR room now... but the other room in our party.. still not ready. Seriously? This isn't strange?

We left that half of our party and went to Hollywood for a couple hours and came back and finally they had a room.. lame. So we laid out on the lump bumpy mattresses and too soft to be of any use pillows and napped before dinner. Apparently bro bathed in the moldy shower =0

Other cons: I didn't see an elevator. Breakfast at 730am will find yourself with no protein other than a hard to peel hard-boiled egg. Oh but my MAIN GRIPE is that when we returned from our wonderful cruise.. we called for the shuttle (which they made it sound like it should be going every 15-30 minutes) and waited and waited and waited and finally had to force our way on.. Only to get back to the hotel and be chewed out by the hotel manager (Asian man) like we were a bunch of children. Um, dude.. not cool. Don't be disrespectful to my family and don't be a dick to the driver. He was doing his job and he is a sweet guy. MAYBE if you get your information straight to all of your patrons beforehand.. you might not feel the need to yell like a drunk father or something. Completely inappropriate.

What i did like was the service I received from the young ladies behind the front desk. Very courteous and helpful. Not rude and condescending. Oh and of course, the shuttle driver :)

NEVER again. Maybe they should change the name to Lack Of Quality Inn.

Rooms are decent but quality wise is at the bare minimum. The towels don't look clean enough and all the ammenities in room look old and dirty. Better to go to a nicer hotel.

This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in in my entire life.

A very weird, creepy Asian man made me feel totally uncomfortable. I called him up to my room with a couple of serious concerns and he never identified himself and made wild accusations. I lit some sage just long enough to cleanse the room and I smoked absolutely nothing in the room. However, when he came up to the room, he saw the sage, said I smoked in the room and told me I'd have to give him $150. He had a $100 cash deposit of mine and he ended up keeping it!

When this creepy man saw the sage in my room, he acted like he won the lottery. I am not kidding. It was insulting and awful. I told him I only lit it to mask the smell of cleaning chemicals because they were making me ill and he did not care in the slightest.

The room I stayed in on the 2nd floor was very insecure. There was a way inside via a panel in the ceiling. There was a way in from a door that locked on the other side. One could also walk through the front door, if they had a key.

While I was in the shower, my iPhone 4S disappeared. I turned the room upside down looking for it, but it was gone. Eventually, I went to my car and searched it for several minutes. When I returned, the phone was sitting in plain sight on the bed. It definitely wasn't there before and it was certainly returned while I was outside.

I had this iPhone listed on eBay at the time with a Buy It Now price of $9,999. I'm 100% certain someone broke into my room and took it to check it out, then returned it. I do not know who broke in or whether or not they were working in conjunction with the Asian jerk who claimed to be the boss, but either way, it was a violation of my privacy.

I usually leave it up to the reader to decide whether or not to visit an establishment after my review. However, for the first time, I AM TELLING YOU PLAINLY, DO NOT GO HERE.

I never yelled at this man. I never disrespected him. I only yelled as I was leaving (he kicked me out after visiting my room the next day and his maintenance guy he brought said he smelled nothing). I had asked him the day before to withhold judgment until the following day when I was checking out, in order to see if it truly smelled of smoke or sage or whatever and he said no. Nonetheless, he and the maintenance guy came up and they both knew it didn't stink.

I left the place by giving each of them a copy of an address where my daughter was staying. I told them both that $100 was going to go to my daughter and if either of them had integrity, then they should send it to her. I also said I'd give them 1 week and if they didn't do the right thing, I would Yelp about my experience there. Typically, I'd never negotiate a deal like that, but I did and they did nothing.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL. The manager is a liar and a thief and he is likely working in conjunction with other thieves/burglars. You have been warned.

THE PROS:  Cheap, clean, great water pressure/massage shower head, small fridge and micro in room.  Big E Pizza (open till 3am!) mere steps away, and a liquor store 1 block away that's also open very late.

--------

THE CONS:  Ghetto neighbors, heavy traffic, noisy (did not bother me, but we were in back -- and are heavy sleepers).

--------

THE STORY:   New Year's Eve, 2013!!   What better time to be smart, score a room, and avoid DUI checkpoints!   Checked into the room at 8pm, turned on the heater for a nice toasty return, and OFF to the PROSPECTOR (a mere 1.7 miles away!)

Returned to the room at 1am to find the heater was now not working.  Called the front desk, no answer... a note on the door saying "Try Back Later".   Strolled to the liquor store for a bottle of overpriced hooch.  Once back to the room, they were answering the phone again.  A kind gent quickly set us up with another room and he even delivered the new key to our door.  So far so good.

UNTIL...

Once settled in our new room (2:30am or so), the girlie and I were goofing around and then BEEP, CLICK, THUD as someone with a working key tried walking into our room!!   Luckily the safety latch was on, but if it wasn't, they could have strolled right on in.  With us naked and everything.  Good thing my lady and I are good sports and we thought it was kind of funny.  Some club chick and her guy were assigned our room, 'cause when we were switched earlier, they didn't mark it in the computer and thought the room was vacant.   OOPS!

The good news is "Julio" from the front office seemed genuinely concerned, and is giving us a free night to make up for it.  They also let us have a late check out (it was almost 2pm before we left).

Oh, and they have free breakfast with waffles and stuff.  We missed it (WAY too early for us!) but nice that it's there.  The outside jacuzzi and pool were clean, so was the room and the bathroom (I saw no mold -- it was spotless in both rooms).  Previous reviews are right about the pillows, though.  Smallish and too soft -- like giant marshmallows.

So, if you're the adventurous type, the Quality Inn is a good bargain.   Just be open-minded and prepared for some weirdness.

Oh, and don't forget to latch the door.   :D

My team and I booked 4-5 rooms here and booking was a total breeze. I got in touch with Greta from ChoiceHotels.com and she was able to find and compare a few options for me and I'm so thankful for her help on this.

When we got there from our 5 hr. evening drive from PHX to Long Beach, we were super tired and ready to go to sleep because we had games early the next morning. When we got up to our room, there was a mattress flipped and sheets everywhere. It looked like housekeeping hadn't finished this room.

What really impressed me here is the professionalism from Frank at the front desk. I called him and he immediately apologized and without any hesitation, got us a different room and came up to us with a new key. The customer service here was amazing. I know how high maintenance some folks can be and mistakes happen, but the fixed the problem with a breeze.

The place was clean and had all the amenities for ice and refrigerating. We got extra shampoos and conditioners without a problem. I've had hassle with this at other stays before. Our rooms looked great when we came back and the breakfast in the morning was amazing! WAFFLES!! I'd come back to this place and recommend it for it's price and value to anyone else, any day.

Big shout out to Frank at the front desk.

And huge thanks to Greta at ChoiceHotels.com for helping us find it in the first place.

Stayed 2 nights.

GOOD: They have a pool AND a jacuzzi, many hotels only have a pool; the staff is friendly; the continental breakfast is pretty slim, but they do have a waffle maker; the pizza shop next door (Big E's Pizza) has GREAT pizza!, there is also an expensive donut shop & a Subway next door

BAD: Too expensive for what it is; ghetto, run down area of town; poor housekeeping, our room was not cleaned only new towels, bedding, there was dust on everything; "lipstick on a pig" - some updates like flat screen TV but OLD carpet, sink, tub, toilet, toilet seat was broken, carpet was gross & had a chunk out of it near bathroom door; pool/jacuzzi area was not clean, kinda disgusting, we stared at same 2 soda cups sitting on top of a box near the pool all weekend; room has thin walls; high traffic area.

The beds are high & very firm, with 4 small pillows of various firmness to choose from.

We would NOT stay here again.  Spend a little more money & stay at the hotels near the convention center (Hilton, Hyatt, Westin).  They are much nicer, cleaner & near the beautiful waterfront.

First time staying here. I give it only two stars because when we checked in, the room smelled like cigarretes,  even though it was a non smoking room.  We changed rooms and the smell was better but the bathroom had ants. Also the jacuzzi was dirty. At this point we just wanted to go to sleep because next day we were running the long beach half marathon. The rooms are not worth the price we paid. Will not stay here again.

Came in late from SF Bay area and Tyler was at the front desk, he opened the door and was very cool and we got a really good room. Since we wanted to go to catalina island the next morning ( no reservations ) he allowed me to use computer so I my woman and I could find an available room to book on the island. we left our car there and was shuttled to the terminal directly. We had a great time and Tyler ( and Julio on the morning shift ) were very helpful and are a great asset to Quality Inns.

First of all, remember that this is an inexpensive hotel.  I am rating it 5 stars for the value it offers.

What's good:
* Offers free parking if you are going on a cruise.  We left our minivan there for 4 nights.
* Free drop off and pick up to the cruise ship
* Very polite, helpful and courteous staff.

What's OK:
* The room is decent. Good enough for a short stay. The bed was clean. Bathroom has hot water. They provided soap and clean towels.
* There was breakfast.  Noting to write home about.  A few cereals, milk and bread.

What's bad:
* Coffee at he breakfast was awful
* We heard a bit of noise from the next room in the middle of the night.  There were noises of bed banging against the wall with male and female supporting  voices clearly indicating they were engaged in the kind of fun that I couldn't easily explain to my young son.  Fortunately, the sounds faded away in a few minutes.
* The neighborhood didn't feel very safe.

Not at all what I expected, even for an inexpensive hotel. Looks great from the outside, inside the room was a different story. The carpet had black stains everywhere. It looked like someone rebuilt a transmission in there. Old tile in bathrooms. Tub and sink both drained very slowly. Parking is insufficient for the number of guests. Would not stay again.

Stayed here for 3 nights... Clean, great service, large rooms.  Great continental breakfast lots of selection.  Only downside was a Chinese couple that got into it early in the morning and were screaming.  They sounded like two cats in a vicious fight!  Hotel staff took care of it quickly!  Subway right next door.

This is the 3rd time staying here and we weren't disappointed.   Alfonzo checked us in and out.  Very pleasant young man.  Spoke with housekeeping and she was very nice and accommodating.  Towels were super soft and fresh.  Fridge & micro in room was a plus.  They didn't get 5 stars only because the bathroom looked runned down.

Third times the charm. First off the outside of the hotel looks nice clean and remodeled. Then you get inside.
First room had horrible patch jobs on the popcorn ceilings three different colors of tile in the bathroom and peeling wallpaper. We decided to stay hell it's only one night. Went and got dinner. Come back A/C doesn't work. That's a deal breaker.

Second room had water pouring from bathroom ceiling. Wow really?!? That's unexpected. Guy at the desk didn't seem surprised said something about the guy that was in the upstairs room blah blah blah.

Third room was ok just dated and with the same peeling wallpaper.

All in all eh probably the worst place I've stayed.

Pros: cheap, good location, spacious rooms, quiet, clean, pizza place close by that stays open until 1am, free breakfast (Belgium waffles were lovely), friendly and helpful staff
Cons: blow dryer didnt work, small room for breakfast, beds were a little firm.

But overall very pleased and best bang for your buck in the area.

I read the bad reviews  ,  but over the phone they assured me it had been remodeled. Far from it Old wallpaper. Old furniture. sagging mattress .  dirty unkept grounds . I endured it for one nite and went to a decent hotel the next day .  This management is not capable of doing a decent remodel and I would strongly not recommend this property .

This place is a great value!!  It's in really good shape, having been recently updated. The room was clean.  The bed was comfortable.  There was a mini-fridge and a microwave in the room.  Everything worked.  There is a pool, but I didn't use it.  The continental breakfast was one of the better ones I've seen anywhere, as it included hot oatmeal, hot waffles, and hard-boiled eggs.  I wish they had bananas, but there were apples and oranges available.

I was especially appreciative that, after I left my sunglasses in my room at check-out, I was able to get them back when I returned to the hotel after my business meeting had concluded that afternoon.

No one would confuse the Quality Inn with a destination resort, but if you have something to do in Long Beach and you're looking for a good economical place to stay, this is your place!
