Great hotel. great location. Room was pretty spacious, and always cleaned. Beds were comfortable. No trouble with parking, and friendly staff. They have a little gym there too with complimentary water and fruit. If in the area, I'd definitely return.

I randomly wandered into the Renaissance one random Friday night around midnight with a friend. We decided to stay at a hotel on the spur of a moment, sort of a spontaneous vacation. The check-in wasn't exactly courteous. I don't even think he looked at us. In fact, he was in the middle of bookwork when we approached. Not exactly service with a smile. Nonetheless, we got an awesome room facing the Long Beach port. The room was big, very well-decorated and modern. The beds were awesome, and there was a roomy balcony with chairs, which you often don't see in downtown due to fears about suicides and whatnot. Yet there were odd touches -- like a super-small TV, no minibar, and no coffee cups. We ordered breakfast the next morning, and the lady who delivered it was again unpleasant and gruff. So overall, I'd say it's a very nice hotel with somewhat unpleasant staff and a lack of some basic appointments I'd expect in an upscale hotel.

I love this place.  The only reason I"m not giving it 5 Stars it the parking kind of sucks.  Even when trying to just park to check-in it was a hassle.   Even the parking garage attendee turns everyone away because it's full (Friday or Saturday) but once you tell him you're staying at the hotel and get into the garage it's tough to find parking.
 The location is great so once you've dealt with all the parking hassles you won't need to deal with it again because everything is in walking distance.
 The Renaissance is an upper scale of hotels from the Marriott.   You feel that once you walk into the lobby.   The first time I stayed here I wasn't expecting anything special and when I walked into the building.. wow!   Very nice.  
 The rooms are nice and the beds are very comfortable.
  The pool is nice and has a great view.   If you head to the pool at on a summer night with the city lights and slight summer breeze you might be tempted to just stay in the pool and forget about why you're staying here.   You're here to enjoy the nightlife or at least, that's why I've stayed here.

I'm incredibly impressed.  The service here is outstanding - if you're waiting in the line too long to check in or out, they go around offering you bottles of water (for free).  The rooms are extremely clean and modernly styled, none of the usual tacky hotel interior decorating.  I stayed here for a conference and ate breakfast and lunch at the hotel.  The food was great, as were the waiters and waitresses who served us.  

Super comfortable beds, great views from most rooms, clean, fun, classy bar and surrounded by cool restaurants and things to do.  Loved it.

Excellent hotel in a great location close to downtown and most important for me the Convention Center.  The room was clean and really in perfect condition.  There is an exercise room that was also in good order but could use a few extra pieces of equipment.

I did not utilize any of the food services or parking so can not comment on them.

Best thing was that the price was reasonable.

This hotel will always hold a special place in my heart. It's where I had my wedding reception in October. We couldn't have picked a better site. But it's also perfect for leisure stay also. Who can beat the location? Ocean Blvd and Pine Ave - Situated in the midst of Pine Square in Long Beach, accessible to the Pike, Shoreline Village, Aquarium, Belmont Shore and the 710 freeway.

I cannot say enough good things about the place.
-the rooms was soo our style: very contemporary, clean lines and wonderfully decorated.
-Wedding coordinator was Claudia Ruiz...she is awesome!
-Sales Manager Justin Steger was the reason we chose the place to begin with.
-The grand ballroom was very elegant (gold, but not overly done, BEAUTIFUL chandelier)
-staircase is picture perfect
-beautiful and modern, open-air lobby area
-wedding package beat out all the competitors (free breakfast, honeymoon suite, cake included, floral centerpiece, custom service, very accomodating)

There is an awesome view of downtown LB from the pool on the 3rd floor. There is also a massage parlor on the same floor that apparently gets booked fast (didn't get to try it).

I would definitely return as a guest this time to enjoy the amenities in full so I'll update then.

I really liked the hotel room was very nice the view sucked and i went to get in the jaccuzzi and stepped on glass that someone had broke in there didnt like the fact that staff let people drink and be drunk in the pool  but loved everything else close to shoreline village and the pike

I've stayed here twice while visiting Long Beach, and have to say, this hotel is great for the price. It's in an awesome location and within walking distance to The Pike, Convention Center, all the restaurants and shops near Pine, and also Shoreline Village. We usually end up parking at the hotel and just walk everywhere, and parking is free with your stay which is really nice. The rooms are average, nothing over the top, but it's fairly modern and contemporary. There was an old ice cream in the fridge which was kind of gross. I would hope the maids check that kind of stuff more often, but at least it wasn't anything major. The beds are comfortable and it's probably the darkest room I've ever slept in, which is great after a long night of drinking. We had a harbor-facing room on the 10th floor, so we had awesome views. We seriously spent at least an hour or two just looking out our window watching things, pretty entertaining...  The staff is friendly, and checking in and out were a breeze, we were even able to check in a couple hours early. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you're visiting the area and want to be close to all the great restaurants and bars that Long Beach has to offer, without spending a ton of money.

Got to stay here for cheap because of Priceline.  We arrived pretty late at night (after midnight).  Check-in was excruciatingly slow b/c they had to boot up the computers.  Staff was very short with answers and not very helpful with directions, like where we go to park, where our room was, what was still open (the pool, etc.). Parking was $15, which wasn't too bad for a hotel lot.

In-room, the place was pretty nice.  Great, comfortable beds. Great showerheads and toiletries.

They had HDTVs, but no HD signal when I was there in December 2008.  Hope they've upgraded by now.

Went for a swim in the morning and the pool and hot tub were nice.  Sauna, locker room, and gym facilities were dece, too. Wish I could have see the firepit.  

Overall, a good experience for a Priceline price.  Dunno if I would have enjoyed it had I paid more.

This is a smaller hotel but the rooms are decorated nicely and the bed was amazingly comfortable. The views were great, and we loved the new lounge down stairs with outdoor seating and a fire pit. We'll definitely stay here again.

This location is part of the Marriott Hotel chain although it does not show Marriott.  

A very short review:  Beds were extremely comfortable ( I fell asleep pretty quickly), the room was decently sized for my wife and I.  The pool area on the 3rd floor had a pool, sauna and a smoking area.  This is the only place you can enjoy smoking on the property.  Parking was adequate however on the last day I had a problem getting out of the garage....long story, just know that it could have been made easier to do things on the last morning of your stay without having to click on the "Help" 5 times and not getting a response.  I had to actually honk the horn and yell for somebody before I got a response.  

Yes I'd stay here again although I'd probably investigate other area hotels for a comparison.  The location is great for all the downtown activities to walk to.  The Long Beach Convention Center is across the street.

I stayed here the night before my marathon, so while I didn't get much sleep - I will be back here (hopefully sooner rather than later).

My reasoning for the 5 stars, even though I have a few complaints. . . is that I called and made reservations and the guy that helped me out was professional, courteous and seemed to just "get it". I received an email about a week before our visit, and it asked what requests I had and if I needed anything else. After I made my requests, I got a (personal) response email that confirmed my needs.

When we arrived at the hotel, we valeted the car ($18 for valet, $15 for self-park - just inform them that you're a guest of the hotel). The front door guys (what is the technical term??) were pleasant. . . we got walked in, and the guy helped me check-in at the kiosk. When I let him know that I didn't want 2 double beds, he helped me with that - and we got a jr. suite with a king bed - no extra charge (maybe that's why I'm partial to this hotel *wink*).  

Our room was nice - great view, comfortable bed, nice little sitting area, two fridges, starbucks coffee, deep tub (awesome for a nice soak), Lather toiletries, etc.

We had a buffet dinner with my training group at the hotel - and the food was good. Wasn't stellar, and wasn't anything worth remembering, but it was decent.

I had to talk to the staff a couple times - and every encounter was pleasant. I have no complaints there.

When we left, our valet guy was the same one from when we checked in. He made sure that we didn't need any help packing up our things, checked how my race went, and made sure I got into the car safely.

Great service, lovely hotel, and awesome location (right in the heart!). Ah. Customer service really does win me over.

Loved staying at this hotel! The room was clean, service exceptional and the view was awesome! All of the staff were so very helpful and friendly too.  The restaurant food was wonderful as well and recommend anyone who has out-of-town visitors, this is really a nice place in walking distance to many of the local attractions (Pike, Convention Ctr, Pine Ave., etc.).  Queen Mary view across the way and close to Aquarium, Bubba Gumps and Rainbow Harbor.

Love this property. Cool modern sleek elegance.  We had our wedding reception for 150 here in August 2008.

Great location, layout, aesthetic and environment for a modern reception venue. It's right off Ocean Blvd and Pine Ave it lays amidst the cool Pine Street scene in Long Beach .

Our reception in the Grand Ballroom was perfect - contemporary, sleek with clean line that set up a simple elegant palette that we wanted.  We want to thank our wedding coordinator - Claudia Ruiz - she's very responsive, friendly & professional. As a person who planned this wedding long distance - I appreciated all she did to accommodate our meeting requests and tastings.  We were upgraded to the Grand Ballroom to accommodate our setup and it was a WONDERFUL surprise.  This hotel has a pretty good wedding package that kept our planning simple - included centerpieces and cake.  

We hope to return soon. It was a wonderful day - I wish we could say more but I want to keep this brief. Highly recommended for your wedding or special occasion venue.

Like any other Renaissance this hotel offers contemporary and trendy decor at a bargain price. Well appointed updated room in summery colors. A hippier lobby with a great restaurant and bar. Actually the lunch and happy hour deals are fabulous. In the heart of LB happenings.
Get an even numbered room and you are promised open harbor views :)

I stayed here for a trade show. I cant really speak to the rate because my company paid for it, but I had a great time.
Rooms are spacious and neat. My only complaint was there werent robes.
The lobby is fun and there is a great restaurant/bar. I ate all my meals at the lobby restaurant even though there are many restaurants to choose from. The room service is speedy as well.
The staff is extremely friendly. On the last day of the trade show, there was a man waiting right outside the elevators offering to check my bag. I also need a few reciepts reprinted and they were very nice and helpful.
They also have a great business center and make it very easy to print yoru boarding pass. Many little touches that make your stay easier.
Its very close to the trade center. Literally right across the street. I would definitely recommend this hotel!

This hotel is really great! I'm a little biased since I've only stayed in a Suite (but did room hop) and had a wonderful experience. I booked several rooms for our staff and booked an event for work a couple years ago but it all went off without a hitch. The sales, catering and hotel reception staff were excellent. I got everything I needed for my work function. I even recieved a welcome basket when I checked into my suite.

The beds were very comfy. Room was pretty good with huge balcony. Lots of room for entertaining. The room I rented for the function was absolutely huge and accomodated all our request all evening. Our clients were very pleased.

I would definately stay here and book an event here again. You cannot beat the location either; its located on the corner of Ocean and Pine street so you are literally steps from all the big spots in downtown LB.

We came here this past weekend for my best friends bachelorette party. The overall feel of the hotel was very nice and everyone there was very courteous. Check in was a breeze. They didnt have a room with 2 beds which was 2 bad because there was 4 girls but we managed. We got a roll away and 3 girls in a king size bed, we all fit just fine. The lounge (SIP) downstairs is super cute and I  loved it there. But, Ok this hotel would have 5 stars but im deducting 2 stars for the following reasons:

1. The hotel advertises 24 hour room service but that was not the case. We called room service around 1 am and was told that it was not open that late. Why say 24 hour then? That was a bummer.
2. Parking is soooo expensive here. $20 bucks just for valet. You have got to be kidding me.
3. The ATM was not working and they told me they didn't know where there was another ATM. Not very good customer service if you dont know where there is another ATM.

Overall, this hotel was great. Very modern and cute. I would def. stay here again but maybe I will trying parking my car elsewhere.

This place is actually really nice.

My work put me in a room here for an event we were doing. Needless to say I was actually really impressed. Its central to EVERYTHING and the rooms were super clean and really spacious. I can't comment on the price so I have no idea how much it costs, but if its within your means, I would recommend it to you.

I wish my husbands annual conference were held here every year! Upon a late arrival we were treated to a 10th floor room with a balcony and view of the water. This was one of the nicest rooms I have ever had at a Marriott property. The hotel is located in the heart of downtown within walking distance ( I walked a total of 5 miles our first morning!) of restaurants, bars, shopping and the Pike.
I was very impressed with the well equiped fitness center and liked the 3rd floor pool area with plenty of seating and luxurious towels.
All of the staff were so friendly and attentive. We treated ourselves to valet parking and upon checkout  they didn't just store our bags until we were ready to leave, they actually put them in our car for the remainder of the day.
One word of warning, the breakfast menu is very expensive! $9 for a bowl of oatmeal and $4 for a cup of coffee! With all of the choices available nearby, I would skip the hotel restaurant.  
Long Beach has done an amazing job of turning their downtown into a great place to visit. This is not the Long Beach of the 70's that I remember!

My husband and i got married at the hotel this summer. It was perfect! From the sales process, event planning process, and the entire hotel staff it was all terrific! The facility is well kept and really trendy. I cant brag about our experience enough!

visited this hotel because of a work function and was skeptical that I would like it ... location and brand didn't previously have a good point of reference for me.  I must say that I was pleasantly surprised.  The staff was friendly and the rooms had just recently been renovated (in fact I think they are still working on them now).  We had a nice room with a view of the Bay.  Only 3 stars because both times I used the valet they were no where to be found resulting in lengthy delays coming and going; staff's knowledge of local eateries: after late check in front desk attendant advised us that Rock Bottom was the only restaurant open past 10 (it was awful and we found out the next day that there are many good (some even quite good) restaurants a withing a few blocks that are all open past 10); out of service elevators: renovations were ongoing and only two elevators were in service the entire time we were there; and finally the fire alarm: it went off in the wee morning hours for only a brief time (in fact the alarm itself didn't wake me) but then their loudspeaker came on in the room (announcing multiple times over againl in a booming voice - "We are sorry for the inconvenience, this is not a real fire drill, please stay in your room."

I typically hate negative reviews, but unfortunately this will be my first.  

My wife had a company holiday party here the prior week.  We dressed in our best outfits and went to have a great time with her co-workers.  

When we arrived we got a meal ticket for two vegan meals.  We were excited because they asked us weeks in advance if we had any meal restrictions prior to the event.  We stated we were vegans and were told that they'd make a special meal for us.  Sadly, when the meal came out, it was just a plate full of broccollini.  Ok, sure I figured that was just the salad portion.  It wasn't, that was to be our meal.

I talked to the manager later that night to complain, he looked at me and didn't even care.  Said he'll take care of it next time.  NEXT TIME?

Pissed off and hungry, we left to get dinner elsewhere.

Spent a couple of nights in the hotel during Thanksgiving weekend.  Arrived at the hotel at around 12:30pm, check-in was a breeze.  Our room on the 8th floor was bigger than I expected, even their flat screen TV was large.  The bed was comfortable and I appreciated the extra pillows.  The only drawback was that I could hear the noise from the hallway (it didn't help that our room was near the elevators).
The Shoreline Village and The Pike are just a couple of blocks away so we were lucky to have a lot of options (in terms of things to do and places to eat).  Overall, our experience with the hotel was a pleasant one.

Just came back from a business trip in Long Beach and had a great experience at this hotel. The one thing that stood out to me was the helpful and friendly nature of the staff.

When I first arrived and got off the Super Shuttle I immediately panicked because I realized that I forgot a bag with some valuable items on the shuttle. I went right to the front desk and Chris the hotel manager helped me get in touch with the shuttle's customer service area. I wasnt getting anywhere with Super Shuttle's customer service and several hours later I mentioned it to Chris in passing. He said he would call them himself even though he had nothing to do with the shuttle's service area! He said it was important that their guests get the best possible service and I shouldnt have to be stressed over this. I was impressed that he called them and got some information for me.

The rest of the staff was also very courteous and helpful. I would say that this hotel probably had some of the best customer service and friendliness that I have seen. I was there for several days which gave me the chance to observe their consistency.

The room itself was very nice although perhaps a little small for the money. The street outside was also a little noisy at times (I faced the convention center).

Overall a great visit and I would definitely go back.

very nice, upper class hotel in a great part of long beach..
so why the 3/5?

the reasons include:
very very noisy at night, you would think the windows would be thick enough not to hear the rowdiness at 2 am on the 12th floor
-no free wifi..are you kidding me? i go to 2 star hotels with free wifi and breakfast!
-parking situation is ridiuclous with the key cards
would i return tho? yes for the area and hotel room

I recently got married and we decided to have our reception dinner and party at the Renaissance.  I was attracted to its funky contemporary ambiance, but I ended up getting way more than I could have expected! First off, the hotel's event coordinator, Brian Oliver, was excellent!  He was super detail-oriented and really worked with me and my wife to make sure that all of our plans worked and came out great (we had kind of a complicated wedding reception with a dinner for 60 people plus an additional 60 arriving after dinner for the reception party...)  We had zero problems and everything was set up and ready to go.  Their packages are really reasonable and include a LOT of stuff (including cakes custom made by either Rossmoor Pastries or Torrance Bakery... We went with Rossmoor and it was GREAT!!!!!)  Also, Brian took care of all of our vendors and made sure that they were able to access the ballroom and set up everything in advance.  

The package also included a complimentary one night's stay in a suite on the top floor (VERY posh with a nice view toward Rainbow Bay and the Convention Center...)

The staff were really helpful above and beyond expectations.  My bride didn't get to eat her dinner due to a personal emergency that she had to take care of and due to the plates being cleared, her dinner was somehow lost in the shuffle.  Brian hooked us up by inviting us back the next weekend for a gourmet lunch at the hotel, completely on him!  My wife got to eat her wedding dinner and I got to try some delicious other dishes.

I really can't recommend these guys too highly for any kind of event (conference, meeting, etc) or for stuff like weddings.  They are really helpful, attentive to detail and strive to make your experience excellent!

Stayed here right after Christmas thru New Years and it was great!!
I had never stayed in a Renaissance Hotel before so I didn't have much expectation, but this place was great!! Our room was great and cleaned spotlessly everyday!  The beds were extrememly comfortable!I loved the spacious bathroom and the huge mirror in the room!! Having a full-service Starbucks attached to the hotel was a major bonus!!  

I really enjoyed the location and felt that it was very central to many things.  Another bonus I feel was the bar...It was incredibly nice!! Almost felt like a lounge.  My boyfriend and I had a couple drinks here serveral times...

I can't wait to return to CA!!

Great location within walking distance to shopping, restaurants, clubs and things to do. The rooms have been nicely redone.

The staff is friendly and accommodating. The view on the Ocean Blvd side is beautiful but the road can be a little noisy from people, traffic, sirens, etc.

Overall, a solid hotel stay. Will return.

Ok started off shakey here.  I had a reservation that I had made 2 months in advance.  When I was checked in and went to my room they had given me a room with a king bed.  Uh problem, I reserved a room with 2 queen beds.  Called down, they offered a pull away and said that my room was not reserved it was only confirmed.  WHAT?
When I started to rant and then told the manager that I would write a review on this experience only then did he change my room. The room had two bed but the view sucked.   So I settled in and had a nice nights sleep.  In the morning the manager allowed for a late check out.  This didnt make up for all of the other non sense but it was a nice allowance.  The hotel is clean and the location is awesome.  I would stay there again but only if I was given a confirmation number for a specific room.

The customer service here is amazing. I received towels, food service, and even a room change with a smile and at lightening speed.  Also, they carry Aveda products!  The Renaissance Club level on the 12th floor was nice.  Free soft drinks and small bites, though you still need to pay for alcohol. Rooms were quite noisy from outside traffic and the carpet was dirty (which they offered to immediately clean), but still a pleasant stay.

Most of you who read my reviews know that I am a serious road warrior. I am in and out of hotels pretty often.  In fact, the Marriott brand is one of my preferred brands  (I'm Gold in their loyalty program).  That said, I really wasn't that impressed with this property when I stayed here recently.

They say first impressions mean everything and this hotel failed at that.  I pulled in and noticed that there was a valet area, and to the right there was a car parked with nobody in it.  Since there was no signage, I assumed that this was the area where you should park and check in if you're not going to use the valet.  So, I parked the car, told the male valet that I didn't need him to park my car, and headed inside to check in.  I get behind one other person in line and one of the valet girls comes and hunts me down and asks if I'm parked out front.  She proceeds to tell me that I can't park there, and she'll park my car for me.  Again, I refuse and she tells me that I need to move my car.  So, I head outside and notice that the other car is still parked out there.  So, I get in my car and wait.  Another guy comes up to my car and offers to park my car for me.  I let this one have it.  I told him that there was no way anyone other than me was driving my car and I was a little upset by this first impression.   Finally, he apologized and I was allowed to leave my car right where it was (where the girl said I couldn't park) and I could go check in.  By this time, they line had tripled in size, and they only had one front desk clerk.  Ugh.

Having only one front desk clerk was a common theme.  Anytime I needed assistance from the front desk, there was always a line and only one person working the desk.  A couple of occasions this was during peak check in periods.  Seems that this hotel is seriously understaffed if they can't have more than one person working the front desk.  Nobody ever seems happy at the front desk... customer service is definitely lacking here.

Speaking of parking... $16 a day is a little outrageous for self-parking.  I can see why the valets practically force themselves on you, so that the hotel can make an extra $4 a day for that.

I was upgraded to a junior suite, which gave a little higher expectation of this very pricey hotel, and the view from the tenth floor is wonderful, but that was the end of my good impression of this room.  There are water stains on the ceiling over the bed, the vents in the bathroom are full of dust.  I constantly hear the drone of the elevator (I think?) all day and night.  Housekeeping has the world's loudest vacuum cleaner.... it sounded more like a bandsaw than a vacuum cleaner.  

Another complaint I had is that this room has a serious lack of electrical outlets.  I had to move furniture to hunt down electrical outlets to plug in my laptop and cellphone.  There are no available outlets near my bed, so my cell phone had to plugged in on the other end of the room.

I got room service for breakfast one morning.  It was quick and the food was good and hot... the guy who delivered my meal was very friendly... the price was fairly reasonable for what you got, considering it was room service.

On a positive note, the room is clean and comfortable.  The furniture looks a little old, but it's not in complete disrepair.  The carpets were clean, the and bed was very comfortable.  It's such a shame that the customer service here is terrible.

I was here on business.  Would I stay here again?  No way.

This hotel is conveniently located across from Rockbottom Brewery Restaurant. With a mini strip of restaurants & bars right along the road. It's nice to be able to step outside and walk to it.
However, the hotel itself was EHHHH.
I threw all the bed sheets on the floor and put a note on the bed asking for NEW SHEETS. I came back & noticed the stain I had left on the sheets as I was doing my make up ... so of course I called it in. The cleaner came & said it was new. I told her "No, see this stain? I made it this morning, so I KNOW its not new" She told me the bottom sheets were new.. WELL WHAT ABOUT THE SHEETS FOR THE COMFORTER? WTF?! Are you serious?! So she changed them all.
I was not planning on tipping her since its their fault they didn't change it all the first time & had the nerve to walk in and say they are new... JUST DO YOUR JOB! but my very stupid boyfriend decided to tip her. I felt like she didn't deserve it because she walked in unhappy and saying that which is not necessary. Doesn't she know that the customer is usually right?! And its funny how after he gave her the money she was all smiles all of a sudden and apologizing that it wasn't done in the first place... HAHAHA yeahhhhhh.

Oh and the key card is also use to come in and out of the parking garage. We got stuck the first time because the card was not activated right the first time. We went to the desk and they activated it for us. Everything after that, we would have to slide it through at least twice because it wouldn't read. & no, it's not because we weren't doing it right. Every time it fails to read, it would make a very long beep so we would have to wait for it to end to slide it through again. BLEH! -- Annoying.

Overall, Great location ... Not so great place. I would come back if the price was right. It wouldn't be worth paying what I did for it.

My room was quiet and boringly nice, with a comfortable bed and a stunning harbor view. The downtown location was quite central. That said, I will not return. On the Saturday night I stayed here, it seemed this hotel does not cater to quiet business travelers, but rather to the limo-riding, (literally) puking teenyboppers who arrived just ahead of me. The lobby was blasting dance music; I have a high tolerance for loud music, but this was truly head-splitting. Then I was told that the lobby/disco was the only place I could use the Internet without paying a $12.95 "telecom surcharge." (Why not charge me extra for using the shower too?) When the dance music ended and they switched to jazz in the lobby, it was just as loud. At once point I went to ask the sole desk clerk a question. I was the only one in line, but had to wait five minutes as he stood around socializing with a young attractive woman. Adding the $18 for self-parking, plus taxes, my $149 room cost me more than $200. Bottom line: Good sleep, but I felt unwelcome and a bit ripped off.

man, i am SO glad we did not stay at travelodge this time! for about $20 more a night (triple A discount! wut! wut!) we had the most luxurious, relaxing time here. we started off with a 2 hr nap on the most comfortable bed i've ever slept on! then hung out at the pool and jacuzzi under a sunny blue sky. then took the 2nd most heavenly shower ever. the 1st occurred in a $2million home in SF a week later. the next morning we worked out in a beautifully clean and well-stocked gym. they had towels, bottles of water, apples, tv's, yoga mats, medicine balls....the staff was amazing. always genuinely friendly and helpful. whenever we asked for something, no one said no! always something to offer us. great great great hotel! :D

only cons was not only was the parking expensive ($18 per night), there was no elevator. but we couldn't find any alternative parking around there either :( sigh.....

I stayed here only out of necessity.

Starting off on a positive note, this hotel is situated in a great location. You will be within walking distance of many cool downtown LB spots. No DUIs for you. Also, the harbor views are lovely. The staff was nice.

Sigh. Now everything else. I did not book the room, because if I did I guarantee I would have found a better price, maybe even a better place. Way, way, way overpriced. This is Long Beach, please.

The room was standard. The beds were comfortable. There were 4 pillows, 2 soft and 2 firm. They were both meh. The bathroom was fine. The amenities are Aveda. The rosemary mint shampoo/condition smelled great btw.

What really blowed was the $16 parking and worthless $18 breakfast. I partially take the blame for the parking oversight. I could have used good ol' Yelp to find a better parking option. If this hotel were smart, they would include it in the "resort fee" and make it seem like parking is free when it is obviously not.

As for breakfast, not very many places are open at 5 am. For $14 you can get the cold options - bagels, cereal, fruit, yogurt, and pancakes if you ask. For $4 more you can have eggs, bacon, waffles, potatoes, and blintzes. An omelette man is available too. In the land of "you get what you pay for" this buffet should have actually cost half of what they charge. I didn't realize I had woken up at a 4 star Las Vegas hotel and stumbled down to the buffet. Isn't the Aria like $16? Now that, Yelpers, is a nice breakfast buffet. Jesus, even the Hampton Inn offers complementary breakfast with practically the same food.  

To top it off, the one hour we wanted to watch TV before going to bed early...mmhmm. The TV would buzz and fuzz to the extreme whenever there was too much white on the screen. I have stayed at oh-my-god-I'm-going-to-get-murdered-here motels to fancy-schmancy pants hotels  and never ever has the TV not worked. First-world problems? You know it. I'm NOT sorry to expect all things to be in functioning order at a $200+ a night hotel.

We will not be staying here again.

The worst, blonde woman working at the front desk had a terrible attitude, a total b*tch... But there was one young man by the name of Jesus who was really sweet. But the hotel was at a great walking distance to restaurants and all but our room, the tv was broken, and there was no refrigerator.. Bring your own towels. The bed was comfy but the woman at the front desk just messed up our whole attitude about the place. Also one maid was rude... Idk they need to adjust attitudes.

Super comfy beds and nice rooms.

Got bumped to club level which was pretty cool, but we stayed on a Friday night and the complimentary breakfast for club level guests is only available Mon-Fri and the afternoon snacks are only available Sun-Thurs so it wasn't that big of an upgrade.

Nice hotel though, I like that the parking garage is connected to the hotel lobby and that they give you in and out access with your room key.

Nice, clean, convenient, it has a Starbucks.    That's the positive.   The negative is paid parking and Internet.   The room had a great view.  I could see the lights of the Queen Mary.  Down part...on a busy street. It was never quiet.

I'm a sucker for big, comfy beds. I stayed here for a few days and loved the lobby bar, location (it's walking distance to a lot of restaurants/bars) and their super comfy beds. Another plus? They have a padded sitting area in front of the window in your room, which allows you to sit, relax and take in the LB skyline. Service was quick, efficient and i never had to ask for thing.

Very impressed with the service here.... from the front desk to the restaurant staff. Ali, from the restaurant, went out of his way to help me out.
The rooms are nice. Housekeeping is good and includes a turn town service. Amenities are above average. Bedding is great.
The Renaissance lounge is very nice, but its a personal choice if you want to the pay the extra money if you are not an Elite Member. In the evening they have what I would call 'heavy appetizers' plenty for me to fill up on. However alcoholic drinks are a bit expensive ($9 for a glass of wine). Non-alcoholic drinks are free. Breakfast is good and include hot items (i.e. eggs and bacon). The lounge is small, but it never seemed to be overcrowded.
The gym is nice... plenty of machines and equipment including free weights.
Pool and spa looked nice, but I didn't have a chance to try it out.
Parking is a bit expensive, but comparable to other upscale hotels in the area.
There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance and its just a few blocks from the 710... so great location for me.
I would definitely stay here again if the price is right ;-)

I was kind of surprised at how nice of a hotel this was given how much we paid. I wasn't expecting much, so it turned out great. The rooms were clean and the staff was overall pretty courteous.

The pool deck is pretty nice. It's pretty spacious and if there was a bar up there it would be rockin'. I kind of wish I had a reason to book one of the poolside hospitality suites -- they all opened right on to the pool deck. It'd be a good place to party.

I had some issues with my bookings, but it ended up getting resolved so no real complaints other than a wasted 30 minutes on the phone.

Ok I was teetering for a while on whether this is a 3 or 4 star property.
If you are a Marriott Gold/Plat member, then 4; if not then you are somewhere in between 3/4.

Gold/Plat members get access to the 11/12 floor rooms and access to the concierge lounge which features free pop, VERY light snacks in the eve and continental breakfast in the am. Also Internet access is comped.

For all others that have to pay $16 to park and $13 to surf, then the hotel starts to really get expensive, when you tack on a $180+ nightly rate.

The rooms are very clean and the bed is extremely comfortable. Plasma TV is on a credenza, but that goes with the whole somewhat outdated decor and "age" of this hotel.
The shower is the old tub with pull curtain. Water pressure in the shower is good, but from the faucets is horrible. Towels are soft and thicker than your low end properties.
There is some wear and tear on the doors(chipped all over the bottom), but overall the room still seems in good shape.
I will give them some extra credit for having the latest issue of Cigar Aficionado on the desk. This was a first for me in any hotel and as a long time subscriber (15+years) was nice to see.

I also grabbed a quick bite @ the SIP; their lounge on the first floor. I assume they do not have a full service restaurant on site, as there are many options just outside the door. The bar service was ok, nothing special. One of the 3 beer taps was not working, so I could not get my 1st choice. The burger was excellent.

I did not use the pool, but it looked pretty good as I was riding the glass elevator.

Overall, given the location I would recommend this hotel over all other Marriott properties in the area.

For me though, I'm willing to give up the Marriott points and benefits and stay @ Avia; especially if you find the rate comparable.

Where to start, the location was perfect right within walking distance to food, shops, movie theater, bowling and arcade spot KDB, and everything from check-in to check-out was flawless! I've stayed at the Hyatt in Long Beach but this place trumps it by far, the bed was so comfortable and the room had a gorgeous view of the marina. The pool and hot tub couldn't have been any more perfect, it was a great way to unwind and enjoy the beautiful weather we had! I love this place and feel that it was very modest in price, can't wait to go back to LB again!

Stayed here while attending a conference at the convention center. Well located, easy walk to center and restaurants. Service here is excellent. Concierge lounge is very good but very crowded in the morning, not enough seating and lots of rude parents and their bratty kids. Had dinner in the hotel and enjoyed the mussel appetizer immensely. Went back for a drink and sliders the next day, great wait staff here.

Great location, great customer service and cool bar...not to mention a Starbucks in the hotel, so a guaranteed great cup of coffee in the morning.  

Would be nice if the spa/pool area served drinks or food but it's pretty basic.

This hotel has a bathroom in the lobby and it's for hotel guests and Starbucks customers (according to the sign). They have a Starbucks attached to the hotel that closes at 4pm. It uses the hotel's wifi.

I'm giving this hotel one star because the bathroom has no hot water in the sink. It is a sink that pours water automatically by the presence of your hands, but it's cold and cannot be changed in order to pour warm or hot water. Consequently, everyone who visits Starbucks or the hotel and uses the lobby bathroom leaves and walks around with dirty hands. It's common knowledge that one must put their hands under running, warm water with soap for a minute in order to effectively clean them and kill the germs.

I stayed here during a business trip and it was nothing short of fantastic. My company uses Renaissance Long Beach Hotel as their go-to for those coming to corporate, so it's nice that all the workers anticipates us being around. I only had one small incident with the front desk agent who was short with me when I asked her about the best transportation in the area, but the positives far outweighed the negatives in this case. Upon my departure, they gladly held my bags until I actually had to catch at taxi for my flight without question.

The rooms are very clean and house-keeping is top-notch. They'll always give you extra of shampoo/conditioner/lotion if you need. The employees that man the breakfast area are also very nice and remembers you after the first day.

My only gripe is the road noise that kept many of us up the first few nights. Some heard normal cars, some heard sirens and ambulances, and I heard the trolley come through dinging it's bell every 20-30 minutes or so. Normally, it would be fine, but if I have to be on business I'd like some peace and quiet. I would hope they could figure which rooms have less road-noise  and provide those that are travelling for business.

This hotel chain also follows up with you regarding your stay. They welcome your input and will try their best to make things right for you.

I was here for a business trip for the weekend and my first experience here at this hotel could've been better. First walk into the hotel, I thought the hotel had a nice decor inside. Hotel was brightly lit and gave you a good feeling when walking in. Check-in process was easy and fast. I used a debit card for them to hold in case of any incidentals. They said there would be a $80 hold and would let it go 24 hrs after checkout. I'll get back to this later.

I ended up being on the 3rd floor and immediately walked into some construction they were doing. No signs on the floor or no notice from staff. Ended up being pretty loud from time to time. Walked into my room and got the street view which wasn't too bad except most of my co-workers ended up being on the higher levels with the harbor view. Room was decent but expected a more newer look especially with the price I see on their website. I asked the front lobby if there would be additional rooms opened up the next day and they said there would be. I told them to give me a call to let me know and nothing from both the front desk and the manager. It was one more night anyways but when they say they would definitely help me, I expect them to do it. Nothing from them. Check-out was set for 12pm which was nice but I asked the hotel front desk again about the debit card hold, they said it would be released back in 24 hrs. I ended up waiting 2-3 days before I decided to email them and the customer service apologized and said that it's actually after 5-7 business working days that the money would be released. Thanks again for the lies!

Close to the convention center. Reasonably priced. Great restaurant on the first floor. Friendly staff. Somehow I got a corner room with a small outdoor patio -bonus! Prompt room service. Close to many restaurant choices. Across the street from the free bus that takes you to all the free attractions.

I think this is one of the best hotels i've stayed in while in Long Beach and I've stayed at quite a few.

It's in downtown LB and right across from the Queen Mary  ( Toyotafest ).  There are plenty of shops and bars and whatever else there is within walking distance.

The hotel itself is really really nice. Walking in, the employees were all friendly and even directed us to where we needed to go. I stayed on the seventh floor overlooking the parking garage. This was definitely a great thing because I was here for Toyotafest and I didn't want my car to really be out of my sight. I get paranoid easily in unfamiliar places.  Everyone knows LB has a slightly interesting reputation.

The room itself was huge. i think the biggest single bed room I've ever stayed in at any hotel. The bed was super comfortable.  I could have easily fit another 8 or so people with cots or sleeping bags in the same room and we would have had plenty of sleeping space each.

The bar in the lobby was also an interesting experience. There was an event going on somewhere that night so there were people from all over enjoying drinks. Most drinks were moderately priced but not really on the cheap side. The bartender even had time to joke around with us even though it was rather busy.

I would give this place five stars but there were two reasons I didn't;

1. Parking : yes it's a secure parking garage adjacent to the hotel and there even is security walking around. It was the $16 fee to park in there that was the problem. Like another yelper said, why not just add it into the cost of the room and make it free parking.  FREE always sounds better even if it's not. For the cost of the room, it should be free parking anyway!

2. WiFi : why isn't WiFi free? I already paid a grip to stay here.. COME ON!

We stayed the night prior to our Carnival Cruise Embarkation the weekend before Christmas.

Our room overlooked the industrial docks in Long Beach Harbor & a beautiful night view. The room itself was large with a spaceous living room, comfortable king size bed, large office desk & a wet bar.

2 of the 4 hotel elevators are exterior so if you happen to get in one, you'll get a nice view of the Long Beach harbor while traveling from floor to lobby & vice versa.

Down on the groundfloor sits a comfortable lobby with wonderful hip furniture to kick your feet up & use their free (lobby only) wi-fi.

You can't miss SIP, the hotel's bar. It's cool lookin' & we visited for a cocktail after a night out on the town.

They offer a breakfast buffet as I found out the following morning heading to the "hotel-attached" Starbucks.

I wish we had stayed longer as this was probably one of the best rooms we've stayed in the past several weeks with all the holiday traveling we've done. One night wasn't enough to encapture the amenities of what this hotel had to offer.
It was within walking distance of most of the night life. We hung out at a couple local bars including the Rock Bottom Brewery across the street. However, if you're a craft beer lover like me, try the Beachwood or Congregation a couple blocks down the way (which I did the following day while the wifey was getting pre-cruise mani/pedi).

Anyway, for such a short stay probably the best hotel room we've had in 2012.
That being said...nuff said.

My company had their Holiday party here back in December. I loved the banquet room we had, it was huge, spacious and private. A friend and I got a room to stay in, that way we could keep the party going long after midnight. LOL. Our view sucked, but the beds were comfy and overall the room was clean! I think parking may have been on the pricey side, but we did get one validated ticket since we had a room there.  The nice thing is that the hotel is located in a really good area-- Lot's to do, for the out of towners.

Been trying to book a suite for the past week and no one at the hotel can help me. I'm having a big event in long beach, for my 30th birthday party and wanted somewhere fun and classy to stay. It's surprising how such a popular hotel can't even book a suite during the holidays. Money lost there. I have time share and I've never dealt with this kind of issue before.

The renaissance Long Beach was the hotel for a work conference.  My wife was the hotel liaison for the conference, which means that the hotel tries really hard to impress us.  We lucked out, cause a few days before our conference, their Presidential Suite became available and they booked us in that room.  It was the best hotel room I've ever stayed in.

The other thing I appreciated about the hotel is they left our snacks and drinks out indefinitely instead of whisking them away as soon as the scheduled time was over.  It was almost as if we had paid for the food and they were giving us a lot of time to enjoy it! Imagine that!

The food was impressive for hotel food. And the fitness center was well-stocked with bottled water, kettlebells, free weights and plenty of machines.  

Probably the only downside was that I could hear a lot of what's going on the street from the windows. Especially on Saturday night, there was a lot going on on the street.

We are staying here for our upcoming wedding in July.  Everyone here has been so helpful, friendly, and accommodating, and I'm always impressed by their level of professionalism.  The hotel has an classic yet modern feel to it.  They offer twenty minutes free parking in the garage, and validation for those parking for up to two hours.  It's walking distance from Shoreline Village and the Convention Center.  And if you book in advance the price isn't bad at all.

Stayed at this hotel the 3rd week in Sept 2014. Sister was getting married. On the day of the wedding, my sister realized that she forgot a very important item for the wedding so we were up at 6am (went to bed at 1am the previous day). In order for me to function at that moment, I needed to have coffee to help wake me up so we go down stairs to the Starbucks location inside the hotel to grab a cup of coffee. I order my drink and I am ONE CENT short(only had $5 cash on me).I apologized to the cashier and told her that I was staying at the hotel and that I would bring her the PENNEY later! The cashier refused my request! There was a TIP JAR on the counter and I asked if she would take a PENNEY from there and put it in her register and AGAIN I assured her that I would bring the PENNEY back. The cashier STILL refused. Luckily the lady behind me gave me a PENNEY. If the RENASSAINACE HOTEL is that hard up and won't allow a GUEST that booked THREE rooms in their hotel to walk away from paying a PENNEY then they should go out of business. I was humiliated, embarrassed, and baffled that the cashier at this STARBUCKS location inside the hotel was serious about not letting me have my drink because I was short a PENNEY! Well guess what? How about I don't give you anymore of my pennies and now you have lost a customer for life! After my sister and I returned from our early morning errand, we returned to one of the rooms that we booked and were staying in only to find that the bathroom sink was full of water, flooded, backed up, horrible smell, and water was EVERYWHERE! Renassaince Hotel in Long beach on Ocean, IM DONE!

I've stay here a few times now, I really enjoy the location! the hotel itself is like every other Renaissance, except you get a great view of downtown Long Beach and a glimpse of the shoreline.

Location Highlights:
- 1 block away from the "promenade"; this is where you find a few breweries and restaurants
- 3 blocks from a 5 mile running/biking trail along the beach
- 4 blocks away from Fresh n' Easy, Walmart, and Nordstorm Rack
- Right next to the 710 freeway
- Plenty of decent restaurants across the street

For longer stays, I recommend asking the Front desk for a fridge and then buying a few salads at Fresh n' Easy.

The food here is so-so - I've definitely had better breakfast options at other hotels lounges, and also better food... luckily they close to many restaurants so I can't complain too much. Also their gym is small, but you should be taking advantage of that running trail anyway.

Service service service. The customer service here was great. Our rooms weren't ready when we arrived, so they comped us a couple of drinks at the bar.

I left my jacket in my room and they are UPS-ing it to me free of charge as we speak.

They have free wi-fi in the lounge, but if they had it in the rooms that would make this establishment a 5-star hotel easy.

The hotel just went through a HUGE renovation of its tooms and hallways. Love the new look. I definitely recommend this hotel. Not only is a hip and cool hotel, but the staff are AMAZING. They have taken after Mrs. Pam Ryan (GM). She's amazing! Ask to speak to her during your stay and give her some feedback. She's always happy to hear from guest.

The Renaissance hotel far exceeded my expectations.  In the past I have  stayed at the long beach hilton, and the Westin. But in my opinion this hotel has better service and the prettiest rooms. We had a room on the sixth floor with a harbor view. Our bed was gorgeous, it had beautiful linens, and the room was recently renovated. More importantly everything was extremely clean. I think you could have done the white glove test in there and you wouldn't have found dust. So kudos to the cleaning staff. The toiletries were aveda, I really liked the shampoo it smelled of mint. All of the employees we encountered were friendly and courteous. On arrival the front desk employee, I believe her name was Diana, greeted us with a big smile and welcomed us as if she was specifically waiting for our arrival. A great addition to the staff! This hotel also has a restaurant/ bar attached named Sip which we didn't try, and an attached Starbucks which was perfect.  I started every morning of my stay with a big cafe mocha. I will definitely stay at the Renaissance hotel again in the future, it was modern, clean and close to everything.

Great location, stylish bar, great rooms especially with the window seats! A little pricey but its right where you want to be in long beach. Pool is nice too.

You are a couple of minutes from the convention and all the shops and restaurants.  Highly recommended.

Here for a conference. In all my years of attending conferences/ events, I have never attended one where they're not prepared for none beef eaters.  I wish I would have taken a pic of what the replaced my lunch meal with, after a 20 min wait. Cold zucchini sprinkled with a couple if carrots, one spring of tree broccoli, 2 slices of onions and cauliflower.

beautiful hotel overlooking the ocean. our girls loved the sit down ledge in our room near the window on the 10th floor. we didn't go in the pool... it looked a bit small from the elevator and a bit dirty. short drive to the beach and walking distance to a bunch of great restaurants. there are some parts that didn't look very safe and there were lots of cops around. didn't try the restaurant there but did go to the Starbucks in the lobby.

The overall experience was good but the rooms are a bit old yet spacious. The location is perfect and in the heart of downtown Long Beach. Ask for a room facing South, this way you get a view of the Queen Marry.

The lobby area is new and includes a very nice bar with great drinks and food selection. They also have a Starbucks. The pool looked nice but we did not get a chance to check it out since we stayed for one night only and attended a wedding at the hotel.

Regular parking is $16 and valet is $20.

Nicely decorated hotel with friendly and helpful staff.  The downstairs lobby/lounge "SIP" is cozy and updated.  We had an ocean view, and the room was spacious, updated with a very comfy bed.  The 11th floor lounge was a bit of a disappointment as compared to other Marriott properties.  Very hot and stuffy,  and not really inviting. Views were good and the food was average.  Parking was high at $18 for self parking - so make a note.

The Renaissance was a little bit disappointing.

The location is great, it is next to all the great restaurants, and the beach. It has 3rd floor pool with a view, and a Starbucks downstairs.

The problem is they do Nickle and Dime you here.
$18 a day for parking
$22 for breakfast in the morning
$20 for Internet charge
$20 for local taxes a day.
Etc. Etc.

The wine bar downstairs called Sip does not have the best wine selection, I rarely ever saw people drinking there.

The staff was super nice, but for $150 dollars a night it is not worth it. Stay in a bed and breakfast or a motel near the beach instead.

To leave the parking garage after you check out, you actually have to put in your room key card to open the gate. This does not make any sense at all.

Did a two-night family vacation here.  Staff was always courteous, prompt, and made us feel welcomed.  The greatest room feature was the cushioned window seats in our ocean view room. We enjoyed sitting in the windows. A trade-off is some traffic noise from busy Ocean Blvd during the morning commute.  

This place is great for location, location, location. Pine Ave restaurants and nightlife start across the street, Shoreline Village and the beach trail are a short walk away, and the transit center (we take Long Beach Transit to get around town - to places like Belmont Shore) is just around the corner.

Saw many sunbathers at the 3rd floor outdoor pool. Was interested in the fitness center, which they told us is open 24/7 and recently renovated, but we didn't get around to it.  Will go back here for our next Long Beach trip.

Parking was 16/night but i found a lot right behind that was like 6/night! Score!

I stayed here last night for a medical conference. I could not be happier for having made that choice. First of all my conference was held here so it was prime location! Even better was that it was so close to the downtown area, pier, and beaches. There were many options for me to explore during my short stay.

I was impressed the moment we flew into town and took the shuttle here. We arrived around 9 am and we expected to just leave our bags at the front, but they were able to give us our room right away. Awesome service! Everyone that worked the front desk were very friendly and attentive to our every need. You can tell that everyone enjoyed their job and was on top of it.

I understand what other reviewers mean when they discuss the noise issue. It didn't bother me at all as I can sleep well despite any sort of commotion outside. Plus, my bed was absolutely delightful. I took a nap during the day and I completely sunk into my bed and pillow. I was in heaven! What was supposed to be a two hour nap turned into a 4 hour nap. It was fantastic. My favorite part of the room was the cushioned window seat and the view outside to the city. I was able to sit and do some work there happily. The decor in the lobby and throughout the hotel overall is very modern and chic - very beautiful and artsy. I loved it.

When I came downstairs for our conference's cocktail and appetizer hour the servers of the hotel delivered the most delectable mini appetizers. I tried every one and they were all great! The servers were happy to feed us that night and kept bringing out more. I had to sustain myself for we had dinner reservations afterward. The complimentary breakfast provided for the medical students and doctors was more than satisfying.

The only other issue I have to mention is the elevator had problems working.

My overall stay however was amazing. I would recommend this place to anyone and would love to come back and stay here again.

I am currently staying here for my wedding.  Tried to access the wifi and was shocked to see that they charge $10 to $15 dollars per day for wifi.  Do they think we still live in the 90s?  Obviously I am never staying with this company again.  We would have even gotten free wifi from a best western.  This is just unacceptable.

Great service. We requested cribs for our twin girls and they brought a little gift bag with bath supplies for the girls. The cocktail hour on the 11th floor could be better. The server was not very nice on Monday evening. She seemed irritated that there were so many people there.

This hotel is beautiful, located in a great spot within walking distance from the Pine St. Pier. The staff, however, is really unpleasant. I stayed here with my co-workers for a business trip and front desk was condescending, the bartender was unfriendly, and out waitress at breakfast didn't even try to be polite. I'll stay elsewhere next time I come to town.

There's a Starbucks located inside which is convenient. It's location is central to the downtown so there's a lot of bars and restaurants within walking distance. There is an additional $18 charge for parking.

I stayed at the Renaissance for a conference - the hotel also gave us all the facilities and food for our conference, so I'll be reviewing both.

Service - Top notch! We were served breakfast and dinner for 150+ attendees, and the hotel staff did a great job of waiting on us and churning out the food. The front desk was helpful, and checking in/out was a quick process.

Room - I don't know what type of room I got, but I'm sure it was the basic one. I wasn't in the room very often, but the beds and seating were comfortable. The room and bathroom were clean. I just found the pillows to be too soft, but that's my personal preference.

Food - If you choose to dine in, the food is fantastic! The salmon, steak, mashed potatoes, and roasted vegetables were a few of the highlights. The desserts are pretty great too - a bread pudding and molten chocolate cake were two that I found to be really tasty. In general, I was pretty impressed, especially since hotel food doesn't carry a positive connotation for me.

Proximity - The hotel's about 15 minutes from the Long Beach Airport, making it a convenient location for any Jet Blue flyers. It's also close to a lot of different options downtown: Japanese, bars, dessert, etc. For the tourist, it was only 10 minutes away from Roscoe's! Anyway, you should find a place to walk to that's in a reasonable distance.

Extras - Free wifi in the hotel lobby, as well as Sip, the hotel's bar/lounge. The lobby in general is a pretty swanky area with comfortable seating. There's also a Starbucks.

Overall, I was pleased with my experience at the Renaissance. I'd definitely recommend it for your stay in Long Beach!

I stayed here one night for a Long Beach weekend getaway, and I would like to stay here again if I ever come back.

- Its location is great. It is immediately next to restaurants and nightlife, close walking distance to the coast, immediately next to Bikestation (where you can rent and park bicycles), immediately next to the Metrorail, close walking distance to shopping, and right next to the Promenade.
- It has a nice rooftop pool.
- It has a good exercise room with complimentary bottles of water and fruit inside.
- The hotel has an overall trendy feel. The decor and lounge downstairs contribute to this.
- I was offered a bag of sweet potato chips upon check-in. I love those!
- Before I even arrived, I was sent a nice email welcoming me as a Marriott Elite and describing to me the special check-in desk that would be available for me.
- You use your room key to easily enter/exit the parking garage. Much better than the awkward situation I had at Residence Inn Long Beach Downtown.
- I had an ocean-facing room with a nice view.

I really liked the convenient location of this hotel, though, above all else. The experience here was much better compared to my mediocre stay at Residence Inn Long Beach Downtown, and the room rates also cost less for my stay, as well.

Comfortable, convenient & quiet in the midst of a tourist trap

It was with great trepidation that I checked into this hotel.  The LBC area isn't known as a mecca for foodies and hipsters.  Despite being told to find an "LA boutique hotel for adults", the evil queen booked this based upon price and proximity to the convention center, which is only a block away.

I was pleasantly surprised to find a very comfortable and clean hotel.  It was really quiet, despite the multiple weddings booked for that weekend.  The lobby bar is really cool and has great service.  The parking is on-premises in a covered structure, so avoid paying elsewhere and ditch your car here.

I didn't eat at the on-premises coffeeshop, but there are all the usual greasy tourist crapaterias down toward the water for those that don't know any better or don't care.  Better yet, there are neat little restaurants and nightclubs two blocks inland in the revitalized old-LBC business district.  Really cool.  There's a Starbucks on-site, but a better bet is the famous coffee house 'Berlin' - just a quick and leisurely 4 block stroll in the aforementioned business district.  The food there is great as are the juices and award winning coffee drinks.

Immediately across the street from the hotel is a 4 star restaurant 'Sky Room'.  It is the penthouse of an assisted living facility (!?), but a world-class destination.  Don't let its location throw you.  On the bottom floor of that same building adjoining the Sky Room elevator is a wine bar called the 'Wine Down Lounge' that is associated with the Sky Room.  Many of the entrees and other items from the Sky Room kitchen are available at this gastropub as are a wide variety of fine wines by the glass.  Great place to chill before heading upstairs, or in the case that one can't get reservations (or wanting a less expensive meal), a substitute.

The only negative aspect of the Renaissance facility was the pool/Jacuzzi area.  It was full of kids and pretty sleazy types.  Whatever is used to treat the Jacuzzi water creates a head of foam that is akin to a washing machine with too much soap.  Pretty disgusting looking.  Aside from that, a nice quiet stay in a strategic location.

This place is all about location, location, location.  I would definitely stay here again.  The rooms were clean and the staff was great.  The lobby was pretty interesting and a good place to grab a drink.  They have a small pool, but it does the job.  I loved the gym.

We went on a busy weekend and their prices were not very competitive.

Nice property and rooms.  Was there for 3 nights for a work conference.  The property is well situated in the heart of downtown Long Beach, a short walk or cab ride to the convention center, aquarium and board walk.

The rooms are standard, but larger than the last JW Marriott I stayed in in DC.  The bathroom was roomy as well.  Clean and modern furniture, nice towels and accessories.

The conference rooms were very cold, but that didn't bother me for the most part.  There is a nice lounge in the lobby and a Starbucks attached to the property as well.

I stayed on the club level, so was able to take advantage of the free breakfast and snacks in the afternoon/evening.  A nice extra and much healthier choices than at the conference.

I wish that the wifi was free instead of a pricey $12.95 a day, but it was pretty quick and hassle free.  I needed it to work, so I bit the bullet and paid.  Supposed to be free in the lobby, but I didn't try it.

The highlight was the food.  For a conference, I thought that the food and service was just outstanding.  Seemed like food you would find at a nice wedding.  

If I ever needed to stay in Long Beach again, I would definitely consider the Renaissance.

We stayed at the Renaissance Long Beach hotel this past Friday and we had a great experience. Our second time staying at this hotel. I was able to check in early and when I arrived at the front desk I kindly asked if we could have a higher floor room which they did not hesitate at all to look for one.
-Super nice people at the front desk. We got a great room with a view to the Queen Mary and a balcony. The bed was soooo comfortable it was hard trying to get up.
We also ordered room service in the morning and the food even though it can get expensive it was delicious. The time they took to deliver was very fast and the person delivering our food was very nice and polite.  We got a Renaissance breakfast (with bacon perfectly made) and french toast. It's worth every penny.
Parking is $18 but I would expect it since it's located right in downtown Long Beach. Everything is walking distance: Restaurants, shopping center, shoreline, movie theater, metro station, beach.
We loved our experience and will be returning. Every thing was Perfect.

Stay away from Room 423.

Stayed at this hotel and generally a big fan of Marriott properties.  The room was nice, though not much of a view since it faced out to the parking lot.  

The main reason for the negative review is that the freight elevator is close to this room and you can hear it when it is running.  In fact, it sounded like something being dragged across. Unfortunately, I learned about this the next morning and was only staying for two nights.  I'm glad I brought ear plugs.  The hotel offered me breakfast, but I was at an event and didn't have a reason to eat there.  

One other issue is that I was billed for use of the cafe, which I didn't use.  While  it wasn't on my printed bill, it showed up on my eFolio, which I recommend people use since I would have never caught this charge.  After calling them and sending them an e-mail, it still hasn't been resolved.  Called them again and hopefully someone  will address this.

Stayed here w/ friends for a quick getaway to Long Beach form the Valley. Enjoyed pretty much every aspect of our stay!

The staff was consistently curteous throughout the entire time. Whenever we requested anything - they were extremely quick to deliver and very effective with following up.

The hotel exceed our expectations w/ regards to the comfort, layout, view, etc. Defintely would consider giving this review more than 5-stars if I could!

Visited the hotel bar a few times in the past, but this was my first stay. Hotel is conveniently located near several fun places. The hubs and I walked down to the Long Beach BBQ Fest at the Rainbow Lagoon from the hotel and it didn't take long at all.
Service was great, especially the room service. When I opened the door, the server asked for permission to come in. She also offered to fill up the ice bucket, which no one has ever done before, so I said yes. When I handed back the signed bill, she noticed I'd added some cash. She reminded me that they already add a 15% service charge. Who does that?! Of course I wouldn't take it back! She was really great.
Food was good. Chicken wings had good flavor, and the hubs said the vanilla ice cream was the best he ever had in his life.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in LBC.

Our stay at this hotel was awesome. We only satayed for 2 nights during the weekdays. The staff is very nice and they are always willing to help you with whatever you need help with. I was having problems with the GPS on my phone and one of the staff members told me exactly where it was. They have a jacuzzi and a pool on the third floor. We only got in the jacuzzi cause of the weather. We disnt realized until the second day that the jacuzzi has a panel you turn so it can throw water and it felt like a great massage in our backs. You put the amoint of time you wantwd for. I think the longwst it will last is 30 minutes im not sure. Theres also towels and cups by the pool so you can get water (its free) I refilled my water bottles there. They also have a small gym and there is also towels in there. They provide green apples and mini water bottles as well as with earphones. Our view was beautiful. We were on the 8th floor. They also have an ice machine there where you can get ice. Thw room had a small tiny fridge that kept our drinks cold. The bed is super comfty we slept for hours. They have a bar in the first floor I believe its called SIP there is also a Starbucks that is opened from 7am-4pm I believe. The elevators on your left side are nice they have clear glass and that makes the view beautiful where you can see everything that is out there. There are several restaurants around there that are walking distance. Also, their bars are close by. No need to drive. The metro blue line is like 3  minutes walking distance from this beautiful hotel. We will definitely be coming back. I loved it!

Pros: Gorgeous hotel. Amazing room and view. Great location. Decent price for the room.

Cons: Staff is mediocre (don't explain things well, if at all; slow; not that friendly - especially compared to Hilton hotels). Also the elevators were horrendously slow.

I loved my stay, the view and the price was right. But our experience with the staff was frustrating on both occasions we spoke to them and knocked it 1 star. I would still stay again, though.

We stayed at this location last weekend and were really impressed with the place. One of our favorite aspects was that it is in walking distance to anything we wanted to do.The room was very nice and the hotel overall was clean and well maintained. Everyone we talked to was extremely friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and ensured that we had everything we needed.

The pool was nothing exceptional and our least favorite part of our stay was the breakfast buffet. The food looked good but it tasted awful. Thankfully there was cereal and bagels because everything else just tasted bad. Also, there was only one server working and it was busy, so drink service was very slow (not her fault, there should have been more staff working).

I would definitely recommend staying here, but not getting the breakfast :)

We're in long beach for the drifting competition at the convention center. The rooms are nice. Beds are very comfortable. We originally reserved two rooms that were checking in on the same day but half the group decided to come in a day sooner. The front desk accommodated our original request by putting us in an adjoining room so the rest of our group will check in and get the room next to us. Fantastic! We are staying on the 3rd floor facing the parking structure & The only negative review I have is the protestors outside! It's 7 o'clock in the damn morning and I wake up to chanting outside!!! I call the front desk and they tell me it's a group that protests at non Union hotels.... Great!! & there is nothing they can do about it since They're on city grounds but damn! I'm on vacation!!!! I need my sleep! I suffer for insomnia and I was finally asleep!! This. Is. Bullshit!

Ah it's been awhile now so I thought enough time had passed by so that my review wouldn't be clouded by the fantastic view I had from my room.

This hotel became my favorite place to stay in one of my favorite places. Was it because I could go for a run around the city without fear - or that I always had a great view of the waterfront of the saltwater pool below?

Maybe I liked this place so much because I get to go to the concierge lounge and eat and drink for free? Maybe it's the way they always seem to greet me - like I'm family - or maybe it's just because I have some of the best family around the area?

The food is always good, the fitness room is very workable and it's clean - rooms, restaurant, bar, lounge, restrooms, lobby - overall just a great place.

Ah - but there is always a drawback it seems and the sought after 5 star eludes once again. The daily parking rate is something that should just be included - I HATE to pay for parking when I'm already paying a moderate price for the room. I overlook the room rate, because of everything else - but the 5 star escapes once again!

This weekend I had a chance to stay in Long Beach and choose the Renaissance Long Beach Hotel. I got a great rate of $114 per night. When we got there, I realized that this hotel was the most centrally located for all the night life, restaurants, convention center and the Aquarium. Since I have gold status with Marriott, we were upgraded to the Club level which includes the club lounge. The lounge has breakfast every morning on the 11th floor and happy hour during the weekdays.

The rooms were OK and the bed was comfortable. The TV was a bit dated and it took for ever to change the TV channels.

Location; the hotel is located right on the corner of Pine and Ocean.

large lobby with plenty of tables and chairs
friendly staff

Terrible parking and they charge $18 to park on the 4th - 7th level of a small parking structure.  Valet? I never even saw a Valet. and there was always a car parked in the Valet lane.
Slow elevators.

I enjoyed the lounge every morning with the Starbucks coffee, breakfast and the views of  Long Beach Harbor.

Wanted a nice hotel close to the restaurants so we could walk to dinner. Parking is 20.00 a night. Room was clean and quiet, bed was very comfortable with nice pillows. Staff at the front desk were pleasant. Restaurant conveniently located in the lobby was very good but expensive. Buffett 22.00. We choose to order off the menu and spent 50.00 on breakfast. This place was pretty chill. I went their during Los Angeles' summer heat wave. The pool area is legit. They offer free water as well as towels at the pool. You get a nice balcony view if the busy street as well as the beach and all it's got to offer.
The gym was pretty radical as well. They offered disposable earphones as well as fruit. I was really impressed with the variety.
In terms of places to go walking distance you've got many choices, just make sure you plan ahead before you get there otherwise you may become overwhelmed.
The room looked great, pretty standard room. The lobby area is pretty nice as well although, it seemed a little empty at times, including the bar.

Beautiful hotel ...yes.

I'm sorry, but our stay here was not worth the 25,000 points we used for an overnight with our kids. The hotel was very overwhelmed and severely understaffed. This became apparent when, after calling twice, we could not get anyone to deliver clean pool towels to the pool. A pool that had zero clean towels. Instead we had to use recycled towels that were laying about in order to get back up to our room without dripping a path every where. Nice huh?

Then we have the 20 minute wait in order to retrieve out luggage from the bellhop. The bellhop we had to use because the hotel could not accommodate an early check-in and our car was already with the valet. I don't mind the no early check-in, but I do mind the nonexistent bellhop. At least my husband had company while he waited...since another guest was looking for a bellhop as well.

Finally...the bathrooms in the lobby.. Well, not really the lobby since they are waaaay down and back
by the Starbucks...require a key card to use. Really? What if I needed to use the facilities before checking in? Or because the hotel could not accommodate an early check-in.....oh wait. I did need to use the facilities. But since the front desk had a 6 person deep line and one lonely front desk clerk I could not pee. Nice.

This was a severe waste of Marriott points, and we would never stay here again. Sure, the hotel looks nice and is in a fantastic location....but that does not make up for poor service.

Stayed here for the long beach marathon. The staff were all very nice, and they offered me a late check out after the race..but the room had some issues and I was double charged and it took over a week and a half to reach someone and try to get it resolved. No call back after leaving at least 5 messages, no anything. It was almost $200 on my debit Im still waiting to get back (was resolved yesterday but I get it, it isn't immediate)

The room was nice, very spacious and had a nice large couch. But I found socks in the holder with the ice tray and coffee maker, and a pair of socks that were not mine under the covers at the bottom of the bed.. Eww. Does that mean the sheets were never changed? It was also a little loud too, But I think that was from the airport. The ac unit is also loud I woke up several times.

I really wanted things to go better because of how nice the rooms and everyone was. I think what really did it for me was the unresponsiveness after I left several messages about being double charged. I understand mistakes happen but that is a lot of money to not address it for over a week and a half.

One star for the morning front desk agents, and one for housekeeping.

Marriott should be ashamed of this property. Yes, it's recently redecorated but the new decorations are very busy and gives me a headache just standing in the lobby. Seems like the morning front desk agents are the best to deal with as anyone who works the later shifts are condescending and rude.  

We decided to eat downstairs at Sip. Big mistake but we were too tired to walk anywhere else after working a 10 hour day at a trade show. Sandy, our server, was the worst I've ever had. She didn't acknowledge us for thirty minutes. Manager had to take our order. Neither of them introduced themselves, make recommendations or anything.  

When Sandy finally acknowledged us she informed us that or food will be out in ten minutes, apparently all the orders from the surrounding tables were put in at the same time. Um, there were only three other tables, two of which already had their food. She said she'll bring us something to munch on in the meantime. Took her fifteen minutes to bring us a basket of chips. Wasn't out food supposed to be ready by then?

Another fifteen minutes and we finally get our food which was decent. By now, it's about an hour into our dinner, barely served and not once has my water glass been refilled. In fact, it takes another half hour for my water glass to be refilled.  

The check comes and we all decide we deserve a discount for such slow neglectful service. I walk up to Sandy at the register because no amount of hand waving is going to get her attention. I asked to speak to a manager and she asks why rudely.   Because we were neglected and it wasn't even busy!  She says she'll get the manager.

Ten minutes later she comes back with a 20% discount on our bill, but she doesn't apologize or try to make amends. She literally throws the bill on the table, says the manager authorized the discount, and walks away. We're not paying to have a rude server treat us so disrespectfully. We again ask for a manager who finally shows up after another ten minutes of waiting. After explaining our ordeal he comps the drinks. It's like pulling teeth with these people. The whole meal should have been comped but when everything was divided my tally came out to $7.  

Now that we were somewhat satisfied with our bill you'd think Sandy would be hanging over our shoulders to get that settled to get us the hell out of there. No. Not at all. She ignored us even more if that was possible. We had to go up to her and physically hand her the bill to pay. She didn't even make eye contact or say one word! Grow up, Sandy.

Look, I work in the service industry and I've worked for the renaissance brand hotel at another property for five years.  I understand that the kitchen gets backed up, that maybe you're understaffed, or you're having personal issues.  Rise above it and don't take your frustrations out on the guests. No one should endure that level of neglect. It was almost a joke and we sat in awe of how bad it was.  If our complaint about our meal would've been handled properly this hotel would've gotten another star.

Excellent. I was not familiar in the area. The two ladies were very nice. I think I asked too many questions to these ladies. They were very helpful and know their area very well. Thank you for all the help ladies!

Cleanliness: Great

Overall: This is a convenient  hotel to stay in. It's close to everything. Rooftop lounge and Long Beach Performing Arts. The bars are walking distance! You can't complain!

Note: Thank you Renaissance! It was a pleasure meeting and staying in your hotel. I enjoyed my quick get away!

I would love to stay here again if I can afford it!  But it was definitely more affordable because I had scheduled a room with them for a business forum that was hosted at their location.

The hotel is very accommodating and you definitely get what you pay for.  This is not an understatement when I say that I LOVE the sheets!  They are super soft to touch!  The pillows on my bed were really squishy and fluffy like clouds!  I did not have a hard time lying on their beds...they were very comfortable.  Kinda makes me think it's time for me to graduate from college-age/Target bedsheets and look for sheets similar to this for my own bed at home.

We all know that hotel fitness centers are a joke (but what percentage of people do you expect to have at the hotel that want to work out during vacation?), but this hotel was definitely fancier than any other fitness center I've seen at any other hotel.  The treadmills are touchscreen and the facility is well-kept.  Instead of having mirrors on ALL the walls, they actually allow people to look out windows while they run.  Not to mention, if you forgot headphones, I think they actually provide headphones for you to use too.  Free bottled water and towel service as well.

Breakfast is not included here, but when I found out it wasn't free, I just went to the Starbucks that can also be found on the first floor of the hotel.

For me this place is 3 out of 5.

Staff were pleasant and professional.  

Rooms were comfortable clean and beds were comfy!

$15 for Internet? Okay I'll loiter in the lobby then for the free internet.  $18 for Parking?  I know it's downtown but this is downtown Long Beach we are talking about!  

The pool area is pretty cool however and very slick that it's open till 11PM!  Most places usually close the pool at 10PM.  

Starbucks connected to the hotel was nice!

It's been a while since I've stayed at a Renaissance and I'd be up for it again!  DOn't go in with high expectations you will be surprised. Know what you are getting into for the parking and internet and you won't be disappointed!  

Only downside is there is very little around the area.  I walked up to the Walmart and met with some of the local homeless crowd and other strange people in the neighbourhood.  No one threatening just waking up!

First I must say - We loved this hotel!! However, they did overbook and we had to settle for two doubles instead of one king, which was disappointing. They did comp us for drinks, parking and breakfast the next morning. I know for some people this may not have been enough, but for us it was fine because we really did love this place. The rooms were nice and I loved the comfy window seat in our room offering a nice view of the surrounding area . Breakfast buffet was okay but my husband ordered the Carnitas Hash and it was delicious!! It's in a fantastic location and allowed for easy access to Pine St and Shoreline village.

Hotel itself was very clean and not as busy!

Considering its located in long beach I figured parking will be expensive.. But I couldnt believe that they make you pay for parking even if you are staying at the hotel.. feel like for the hotel guests they should allow them to have free parking..

While we were getting ready for the birthday dinner we were gathered up in the room till everyone got there.. all of sudden we hear a knock on our door... it was a worker/manager I suppose... told us that we need to keep it quite and everyone need to leave before someone complains... he emphasized that theres no complaint yet but when there is that he will have to come back up and take care of the issue.. we were speechless.. I didnt know since when hotels regulate how many guest you can have?? like we were all planning to spend the night there...

That ruined our mood before lunch.. and walked to a local bars and didnt come back to the room till late..

When we returned about 2 am.. I had forgotten to bring my toothbrush so asked the front desk to bring me one.. took them almost an hour to bring it to me.. Which I think thats ridiculously too long of time...

Doubt I will be going back to this place...

THEY overbooked their hotel and now my gf and I are stuck with a twin bed after we had originally paid to upgrade to a king with a view....we got neither! The mattress was terribly uncomfortable and I had a sore neck the entire next day. We got offered 1 free drink at their bar. Not staying here next time I'm in Long Beach.

Great Hotel in Long Beach.  They upgraded me when I checked in to a small suite, so I was already liking the place.  The room was large, clean and modern.  The hotel was located in a great area with plenty to see and do within walking distance.  

They also have valet or self parking, I did the self parking just because it was easier.

Great hotel.

Their newly renovated rooms give it a boutique hotel type of feel to it. The only thing that still feels early 2000's are the bathrooms in the room but they were still clean.

They get the job done in every aspect. Fitness center, pool, starbucks, bar, views, restaurant, you get my point.

The housekeeping is great too! You can count on a clean room.

It's always a comfortable stay here. Customer service is never bad and it's conveniently located. A walk away from everything.

I've stayed at a lot of the bigger name hotels around the area (Westin, Hilton, Hyatt) and this is by far the best choice every time I book in the area.

Newish hotel in the LBC. Near the ocean, with a nice pool. The rooms are clean and the elevator is fun, all glass, love that!

Centrally located to bars, restaurants, and other nightlife. Also public transit everywhere.

Downside - parking is expensive, plan ahead and carpool? :)

I photographed a wedding here. The hotel staff was extremely accommodating and flexible. They accommodated for a Sikh outdoor ceremony which was beautiful, pre and post ceremony meals in a hall on the first floor, and the reception in a large hall on the second floor. I was attended by their wedding/event coordinators, they helped stay on schedule and brought water when needed.

This type of wedding can be challenging due to the many ceremonies, all day event, and uniqueness but they handled it very well. Gorgeous venue and view from the hotel elevators.

Top of the line Marriott joint. We had a room on one of the top floors with a view of the harbor and cruise ships. The room was impeccable and well furnished. Large windows with cushioned seats. The building also has two glass elevators, which is pretty cool. The gym was top notch and so was the pool. The location is great and was close to everything in Long Beach.

Stayed on 14th floor, very nice with 2 beds and 2 bathrooms, facing town and did hear the trains.Although for me, the noise wasn't loud enough to keep AC , bathroom fan, or TV on to mitigate the noise, or perhaps i was just too tired. I slept great.
The downtown location, history, architecture, great service, pub, and restaurant make this a great place in my book.

Came here for a friend's wedding and the Renaissance has a good venue set up. My friend's wedding was in the Renaissance Ballroom and it was very spacious with a lot of room to move around and dance.

It was nicely decorated to the bride's liking and the staff were always available to meet your needs. Although, they were a bit slow in serving the food and never gave us coffee with the cake!

The hotel has a nice section where you can drink with a fire pit in the center and their bar looks modern and intimate with low dim lights and soft music in the background. They do have a small wine cellar as well.

All events are posted on their televsion with a map so you know where to go and their employees were also avaliable to show you the way should you get lost.

The dinner was okay. Nothing spectacular. Chicken was not stellar by any means....it almost looked like cardboard chicken. I skipped that. The halibut was okay. A bit on the dry side but edible. The bartender made the drinks strong and was fair in the amount he poured. Can't complain about that!

All in all, it was a good experience with a great venue set up.

Spent 1 night on New Year's Eve. The rate is $329 ++. Was upgraded to deluxe room -harbor view on the 10th floor (#1028). Check-in was a breeze; we were early (arrived 2pm. Standard check-in is 4pm). Got a text message at 2:45 saying keys are ready for pick up. Wifi is free in the lobby. Self-parking is $20 (no in/out); valet is $26. There is a Starbucks on the 1st floor.

Room was very clean as was bathroom. Room has safe and mini-fridge. Toiletries were Aveda shampoo, conditioner and moisturizer. No shower cap? Lol

It is the perfect location for the Long Beach street party on New Year's Eve. Restaurants, bars, convention center are walking distance.

They threw a party with a DJ in the lobby which made for a very very fun night. Guests were allowed to bring 4 non-guests. Pretty cool.

Beautiful hotel...

The room was clean and spacious, plenty of elevators and not a lot of waiting times (especially during a conference) - and I enjoyed the view of the pool hotel on my way down every morning.  The fitness center was clean and had great equipment - they even have complimentary head phones.  Overall, a great hotel in Long Beach.

Customer service- 3.5 (I booked a reservation originally for one bed, but changed it to two beds on the same day. The person over the phone stated that the request was changed - I even got an email confirmation). Upon arriving (5pm), the room was not ready. The room was ready at about 8pm.  I have to say that the woman helping out was friendly and doing what she could - but I couldn't say the same about her colleague - the other one seemed to be in bad mood or just had an unpleasant vibe.

Being a 'Pedro boy, I've never really had the need to stay in a hotel that is just seven and a half miles from home... Then, "Hello New Year's Eve on Pine Avenue"!!!

Not wanting to deal with a potential DUI and / or what most likely would have been the impossible task of hailing down a taxi at 2:00am on New Year's Day, I decided on New Year's Eve morning to bite the proverbial bullet and reserve a room at the Renaissance for the wife, (Felicia B.), and I. Of course, being New Year's Eve, it was the  "Special Event" rate, (which really means "ream job here I come"), but the reality of it is, it's way, WAY cheaper than a night in the clink, fines, traffic school, insurance increases, yada, yada, yada. That and most importantly, I didn't want to put the little lady through the hassle of waiting out in the cold until we got one either... It was mother effin' cold out!!!

The hotel itself is nicely appointed, with recently refurbished rooms. They're not huge but not small either. But they are clean. Very, very clean.

Some perks are available if you are a Marriott Rewards member, (I am), as well as a really decent bar, (a HUGE plus for me). Walls are thick enough that you don't have to worry about all the revelers "ringing in the new year", some only in ways one can imagine if you put your dirty little minds to it...

Decent breakfast buffet downstairs, a Starbucks onsite, and a do it yourself Bloody Mary Bar to boot... Just may do this again next year!!!

This hotel turns out to have decent parking too. If you want access to all the stuff around Pine and Ocean, this is as close as it gets. Make a dart for the 4th floor or higher if youre a self parker. $2/hr isnt cheap but it's not as gouging as it could be either

We went to Long Beach Wine and Beer Festival and wanted to stay in a hotel where it was close to downtown. This hotel is very close to downtown, maybe a few blocks away. As other people mentioned here, it's super expensive to park here (about $20). I saw that they had a lot across the street for about $10, but I was not sure how secure it was so I parked in the garage. When we were going to check in, we had to wait a very long time. There was also a marathon going on the same weekend and I think that Renaissance was one of the main hotels so there were tons of people trying to check in the same time as us. However, there was only 3 employees. However, they were very apologetic about the wait.  

The hotel itself was very clean and the room was spacious. The bed was also very nice and the bathrooms was great. I saw that they had restaurant and bar in the lobby, but I did not get to try any of it since we were going to the festival. Nice hotel and I think I will definitely stay here again.

One of the best hotels we've ever stayed at!! Great location next to many restaurants and stores. Near a lot of things you can walk to. They have their own parking structure which is convenient.

Hotel is very nice and clean! Hotel staff is helpful and friendly. We stayed in a room next to the elevator, so noise was a bit of a problem. We had partiers bumping music really loud at 2:30am, but the hotel security got to them before I called the operator. The staff handled the situation quickly and with a sense of urgency.

We stayed on the 8th floor corner room and the view was beautiful!! I just love the layout! King size bed with floor to ceiling windows spanning from two corner walls! Would definitely come back again!!

This hotel was a great location for us. We were in town for a bike race that was starting near the convention center. It's also almost right on the water with great views. The hotel is very easy to get to from the freeway and has lots of great restaurants and shops around it.
There's self parking with plenty of spots for $20 or valet for $26. We checked in really late, we loaded up the cart with our luggage and and I went to push the cart in while carrying my sleeping toddler while my husband went to park the car. The bellhop gladly helped push the cart to our room so I could hold our sleepy one, even though I told him no thank you, I didn't have any cash on me for a tip and I would feel bad. He was very polite and helpful and I really appreciated the help.
You need to use your keycard in the elevator to get to your floor. I love that security measure. On the 3rd or 4th floor they have a pool and jacuzzi with an ocean view. They provide towels and a water cooler. On that flier there is also a gym and conference rooms.
This hotel has a Starbucks inside along with at least one restaurant that I know of. They also have room service. They use Aveda products in the bathroom which I consider a plus. The housekeeping also came early so by the time I was done with breakfast my room had already been cleaned.
My only complaint was that they were out of fruit loops. My son looks forward to fruit loops when we stay in hotels and since they were all out I had to call 5 local restaurants to find someone who had them. It's not a real complaint about the hotel, but that was the only downside to our stay there.
