-Nice walk to the Convention Center area - location is great

-The walls are basically made of paper - so loud - hard to sleep

Please Please do not waste any of your hard earned money in staying at this place unless you don't want to sleep and you enjoy oily pastries and poor service.  They actually have the gall to charge over $100 per night! There really are much nicer places available in Long Beach so save your money and only recommend this place to your enemies!

Picture that trying-hard-but-just-fundamentally-depressing motel people in that dramatic sitcom you watch go to to nurture their illicit affairs. Now, factor in being able to hear your neighbours pretty clearly, and an obnoxious system where the air conditioner/fan will only run if the door is bolted and your card is in the door -- welcome to the Rodeway Inn!

To be fair, the staff was extremely sweet, the place is hygenic and you get clean towels. It's one of the cheapest hotels in the area, super convenient to the convention centre and has the option of parking -- at the end of the day, I guess you basically get what you pay for.

I stayed here once in 2008 and it was a mess of a motel.  It felt like I was being sucked into some horrible horror movie where I was going to get slashed by some homicidal maniac.

Well,  as luck would have it, I had to come to Long Beach for some business.  I knew I was going to be drinking, so I looked on the Choice Hotels website, only to find the Rodeway Inn on there.  At first glace, I was like Ahh Hell Nahhh.  But, there were some photos that didnt look like the same place at all.  The rooms were actually kinda trendy and fun looking.

Just to make sure I was looking at the right place, I called the Inn directly and asked about the rooms.  The woman at the desk was very nice and said that all the rooms have been upgraded recently and that they get a lot of compliments on them.  Ok, fine, I'll give it another go.

I am SO glad I did!  I got into Long Beach around Noon and was able to check in early, despite the 3pm check in time stated on the website.  My room was upstairs on the right side of the hotel.  Opened the door and was delighted to see that the room was very modern looking, a vast change from the hard-as-a-rock bed and fitted bedspread of yesteryear.  My online reservation was for a basic queen bed room, but guess what, my room had a whole other bedroom in it with a matching full size bed.  Very cute. I almost wished I had a travelling buddy so that the little bedroom could get utilized.

The bathroom was nicely stocked with a little steel dish with all sorts of cool toiletries.  It even had a shaving kit!

They wifi worked seamlessly and the room boasted a flat screen tv with 3 different HBO channels.

The only downside is that the hotel charges a deposit for the room, unlike most of the Choice Hotels brand Hotels. That was a little irritating. But, the deposit was refunded in about 5 days, so I cant complain.

I'll definitely revisit this hotel next time I come to Long Beach

Excellent customer service and rooms are very nice (& clean) for the price. Centrally located and doable walk to Aquarium and several restaurants & bars. Would have rated a 5 accept the parking lot is extremely tight and the rooms don't have coffee makers. (Excellent free coffee in office all day/evening though!)

Small motel, doors facing parking lot that has no security with shady characters in the area.

The room looks nice but in my case I had fly's (multiple) flying over the bed that I had to bat out the door, and there are stains on the top sheet and crumbs under the top sheet.

Had a very nice shower but don't open little bathroom window...just trust me.  No elevator for anything heavy (only 2 stories though) and more importantly no laundry room on site.

Staying in a number of hotels while I travel I'd say this represents a $60-$70 a night hotel, if your paying more than that find something for your money.

What a great hotel in dowtown Longbeach!

I am really happy that we stayed here over the weekend. We went the annual Grand Prix of Longbeach and it was in walking distance to the event and tons of little restaurants and bars around. It made for a great weekend.

We weren't supposed to be able to check in until 3 pm but we arrived around 10 am and the rooms weren't ready yet but she let us park in the hotel for free since we were going to grand prix. I was really happy about that.  The parking lot is small but its better than paying for parking elsewhere and it was really close to our rooms. Our rooms ended up being ready by 12 too! :) We walked to a cute little cafe next door from the hotel and then to the prix which was less than 10 minutes.

The rooms were super tidy and the bed was so comfy!! It also had a fridge and a microwave. The rooms look remodeled and updated. :) Also the bathroom had little extra ammenties like a toothbrush, shower cap, shaving kit, etc. I like that the shower was a standing one only too. Free wifi in the rooms as well.

In the morning we walked to the office and got some free coffee, juice, and danishes. The coffee tasted fresh, and we picked up a free copy of the wall street journal on our way out.

Service was friendly, rooms were nice, great location. I can't complain at all about our stay here and we will definitely be coming back! :) :) :) They did charge a room deposit of 50 but the lady at the counter said we would get it back in a couple of days.

Stood there this past weekend and it had clean rooms. The only thing that makes me not want to go back is the fact that there was not enough parking for my family to park their vehicles. So, I was okay with paying $10.00 per car (there was 2). The man who helped us ended up charging my room, when my husband paid him cash. So when I looked at my bank account, I noticed I had been charged twice. So I called the next day and was told the manager would call me back. No one called. So I called again and I'm assuming I spoke to the manager because she basically told me nothing was out of the ordinary. So I explained the situation yet again... And NOTHING was done. I basically had to pay 40 dollars for parking. Definitely ruined the my experience in the hotel. Won't be recommending this hotel to anyone!!

I tried to cancel my reservation the day before my stay this week due to a family emergency  and was told this could not be canceled.I will be paying for a room that I will not be staying in!!  Because your representative was so RUDE about this I will not be staying with Rodeway Inn again, nor will my company.  You would think they could have offered a voucher for a different time or different hotel...nothing was offered..

I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. We spontaneously decided to escape to Long Beach for the weekend and found this very affordable hotel, so we weren't expecting much. It was a large and very clean room. The bathroom was also quite nice. The staff were very helpful the entire time and even left a welcome present with some chocolates. I would definitely stay here again the next time we are there. It is also very close to the beach and many of the attractions in the area.

My b/f and I stayed here because we went to a concert at the convention center, and this place is literally walking distance from there so it's super convenient...I was able to walk there and back in 5" heels with no problem. The room was really clean, no strange smells, the front desk guy seemed really nice. The water pressure in the shower is great and the water is hot. There's a fridge, a microwave, and a flat screen TV, a hugh alarm clock that also plays CDs, as well as an iron and full size ironing board.

My only issues are 1) the room is very small. I've paid half the price for twice the space in other places. The bed says queen but it feels more like a full, 2) the shower head is way too high on the wall and doesn't angle down all the way so for my 5'2" self, the water is shooting over my head and I basically had to press my body against the wall in order to rinse off, 3) there are not enough parking spaces so if you're lucky enough to get one, don't move! Otherwise you'll have to find parking on the street.

Would I say here again? Maybe, but only if I'm going to the convention center.

Clean, safe, relatively inexpensive. Rooms aren't great, but I've stayed in far worse. My rooms haven't been perfect, but I've also not complained about them to the staff, so I get what I get.

Parking can be an issue, so you may need to unload your car and then park a few blocks away.

Some places within a 1/2 mile to eat and get a drink. There's a Vons around the corner if you need supplies.

I stopped by The Rodeway Inn to visit one of my good friends who was in Long Beach for a doctors appointment and had to leave IMMEDIATELY. This is a dirty, sketchy, hole in the wall that doesn't even deserve a 2 star rating. She agreed and checked out within 30 minutes. The owner was rude and nasty and charged her credit card for $59 even though she didn't use the room.
I wouldn't send my worst enemy to this dump!

Stood here this past weekend....and I truly enjoyed it! Very close to EVERYTHING and the staff there are super friendly! The best part about it , the room was super clean and comfortable. They must have a really good maid. Left all my stuff in the room with out having to lock up my stuff and felt comfortable knowing theyre trust worthy people out there! i would most definitely stay here again...the price was perfect especially since i used my AAA discount.
Parking is limited but if youre smart youll stay put and order a taxi or walk..
Really loved my stay ...Pet peeve is a dirty room!

Hotel is walking distance to the aquarium, pier, and downtown. Free parking is limited and tended to fill up quickly. Continental breakfast was coffee and prepacked muffins.

I would've given four stars if I was given queen bed (had a full though booked a queen).

Tip: air/heater automatically turns off when the deadbolt isn't latched. I think it's a way for the hotel to save energy for those guests (like myself) who like to leave the a/c or heater on while out.

Okay, I'm giving 5 stars, not because this is a 5 star hotel, but considering the motel, it's size, location, and staff (and price) I had a great experience. This is a motel. Do not expect the Waldorf Astoria. The staff is really great. The room was clean - I mean SUPER CLEAN. The carpet was new. I'm pretty sure the mattress was new. I think the shower was new! The room was nicely appointed, the wifi was FREE (some places actually charge...ugh!)
Now before you make reservations you have to understand the location. This is down town Long Beach. There are homeless and beggars in the neighborhood. The lobby of this place is a closet and the clerk sits behind what I would assume is bullet proof glass. So if that turns you off go pay more elsewhere. If not then know that my stay was very comfortable, the TV was great, the bed was soft, the water pressure was very good and the small, newly tiled shower got hot fast. The room had a microwave and a fridge, but no coffee maker. Free coffee was available 24/7 in the office. The staff was very friendly and eager to help make my stay enjoyable. The parking is small. This is down town and parking is a premium here. The lot is enclosed by the motel with the entrance at the Atlantic Ave side and the exit out the alley on the other end. Yes you can only drive one way through the lot. I watched an old lady in a big car wrestle a 32 point turn to go out the entrance only to end up facing another car trying to get in! I felt safe staying here and had a great time. Great down town access and the parking was free.

The room was very clean and had an updated decor, very nice. Parking was a trial, not a lot of room for many vehicles in the main parking lot and definitely not designed for larger vehicles. The shower didn't get hot and the drain was broken. Our room was right next to the ice machine and under the stairs. NOT an ideal place to be if you want sleep. Overall, not a horrible experience.
