    The Westin Long Beach was beyond disappointing.  Checked in after 7pm after a long day's travel.  No room service menu in the room.  Called down for one and when it didn't come after an hour, had to call room service and asked them to read what was available. Way too tired to try and find a restaurant near the hotel.  The pillow case on the bed was stained, the bathroom had leftover hair from a previous guest in the shower, and the chair at the desk had remnants from something icky, (possibly food, lotion?) and the desktop was dirty.  I took pictures of all of this w/my iPhone.  When I went to the front desk to speak to a manager about it and , the person who recorded my concerns left me with the impression that they would have the manager call me.  I found out later, that person was actually the evening manager for the hotel.  By the way, no one ever called.  I was given a credit for one night's stay but still had to pay the $20/day for valet parking.  Westin has gone waaaay down from what I remember.  Will never stay there again.

    this is a really nice hotel, came here because some friends wanted to have a one-night staycation...it has a heated pool outside and a jacuzzi, it's close to all the bars and stuff on pine avenue, and the view of the city we had was pretty nice! the only real problem i have with this place is that even if you have a room they charge you $12 for parking...for people not staying at the hotel i completely understand, but if you're shelling out a bill to stay in the room, they could at least give you one parking pass or something so you don't have to park blocks away.

    The Westin in Long Beach is miles ahead of the Westin in Downtown LA. It's clean, the staff is friendly and helpful, the rooms are not smelly or stale and the breakfast buffet, which was gratis, was really really good!

    Personally I have never stayed here, BUT I work with them on a regular basis.  We send our employees, candidates and clients to stay at The Westin.  Everybody loves the service, the property, the rooms and the food.  The location is great too.  I have toured the property and have eaten there a few times and am impressed.  They are great to work with from a business side and are quick to fix any issues that may come about.  I refer friends and family here when they come through town.

    The heavenly beds - I could stay all day and all night in them.  I was just in Long Beach for a work conference over the weekend and I really enjoyed this hotel.  Everything was really expensive food-wise but the beds made up for it.  It was walking distance from the convention center and all of the restaurants in the area as well as 2 piers.  There is this cool free bus that takes you to the Queen Mary too.

    This hotel was decent.  Our shower was not working properly when we checked in, but we got it fixed.  Clean enough for me I guess.  Decent view and the staff was extremely nice.

    Do not stay at this hotel if you are attending an event at the Long Beach Convention Center (LBCC) and book through sites other than Westin's.

    THE STAY: In short, I expected more. The room was moderately big (2 queen br) and clean, but there was no fridge (only minibar). There was no fan in the bathroom and they charge $10/day for internet usage and then for parking. The gym was small (1 elliptical, 4 treadmills, & a few cycling and weight sets). Overall, I felt the effort I spent securing the room was not worthwhile for a hotel of this caliber and I will not stay here again. The Hyatt is closer to the LBCC anyway. Upon leaving the parking garage, the lady at the kiosk hassled me about my hotel parking vouchers saying they were not valid for overnight stays (I had one parking voucher for each day for that very reason); she finally let me out of the garage when I told her to call the manager. In the end, I was just grateful to finally get out of there. The normal rate of $350/night is way too much for this place.

    RESERVING (full names omitted): On 1/16, I booked a room at Westin for 3 nights (6/29-7/1). I booked through a convention website's direct link to get a special rate (and vouchers for reserved event seats for attendees staying at affiliated hotels). I provided my credit card number and received a confirmation email. On 6/19 I received a letter (not a phone call or email) from Westin, postmarked 6/15, notifying me they had overbooked and my reservation was moved to a sister-hotel in LA (Sheraton Gateway). The letter said Westin "assumes sole responsibility for this mistake," and would compensate us for the first night and we would pay the convention rate for the rest of the nights ($139). After realizing Sheraton was cheaper and more than 20 miles away, I immediately got on the phone and called the Westin.

    The first person I spoke with (F******) was very rude and hardly let me get a word in. I spoke to her manager C****, who was nice but couldn't do much besides reiterate what the hotel had already decided to do (but she sent me two parking vouchers). Both individuals told me 50 rooms were bumped due to a computer error, and the bumping was random. I asked why they didn't honor the timestamp of when the reservations were made and C**** told me they simply CHOSE not to. I asked if this could be changed, and she said it was too late to do so (but, informing us 2 weeks prior to the event was NOT too late?). I looked up other near by hotels and only the Marriott Courtyard had vacancies this late (but king brs only); I booked one at $239/night.

    I came across R**'s (C****'s manager) direct number through the convention's online forum. He was curt and said the bumping was not random, but only people who booked for the 3 nights (Jun 29-Jul 1) instead of 4 (+Jun 28) were relocated. I asked if that was motivated by potential earnings (i.e. the hotel would make more by keeping the guests staying an additional day), and he said the 3-day reservations were easier to relocate. That only proves the choices were NOT random, yet they still disregarded the registration timestamps. Isn't that unethical business conduct?

    I told R** that the Sheraton was unacceptable because it was too far and he said there was also the Doubletree in San Pedro (8 miles away). I reiterated that I needed a hotel within walking distance and I booked one of the last rooms at the Marriott, and I wanted the same comp deal as if I were to stay in one of his selected hotels. He said that was impossible, and my options were: 1. Sheraton 2. Doubletree 3. first night at any other hotel compensated (the rest on my own). He pressured me for a decision, and I said I needed time to decide so he should call me back. I looked up the Westin's overbooking policy that states:
    "In the event that more guests arrive than can be accommodated and the hotel is unable to hold a room for you, the hotel will attempt to accommodate you, at its expense, at a comparable hotel in the area for the oversold night(s), and pay for transportation to the alternative accommodations and a telephone call."

    I filed a complaint with the Westin's Customer Service and spoke with a nice woman in Singapore who listened to my complaint and said I would receive a response from the General Manager within 5 days. The next day I received a message from C**** asking to confirm my stay at the Sheraton, and R** had not called me back. I called customer service again, and was told to stop calling people or else it would make the situation worse (was that a threat?). She said the complaint I had filed the night before would be delivered the following day (she didn't offer why it hadn't been sent yet). A day or two later I received a phone call from C****, who said she had a cancellation and could provide me a room. In 45 minutes, R** called me to make sure I was satisfied, but was smug about it. I never spoke to the GM and had to pay the original rate for all 3 nights.

    This hotel definitely deserves 5 stars, but the little things also mattered to me so 4 stars it was given! Lets start with the main lobby. Very welcoming, most of the time there's a doorman who opens the door for you. You've got the hotel's restaurant to the left and check-in to the right. There's 2 floors of meeting rooms just above. Then the guest floors above that. Thank goodness they have separate escalators that go to these floors, or you'll be stuck trying to get an elevator if there's a lot going on in the hotel for the meeting rooms or if there's a local event. We were there for a hula competition, E Hula Mau, and those elevators can get busy. The rooms were excellent. Talk about the heavenly beds, they are so awesome! Puts my bed at home to shame! I really had a good nights rest there! The rooms were an average size, actually maybe a bit bigger than average. There was wifi in the room, but if you went down to the lobby it was free for a couple hours. They had a fridge, but it was one of those that had a key. So we couldn't even put our leftovers in there! Otherwise, everything was above average. Parking was a killer though. I hate being a hotel guest and still having to pay for parking!

    I am probably biased in that my wife and I go here weekly for dinner. We live nearby, and think this is THE best kept little secret in downtown Long Beach!! Food is very tasty, especially the chopped salad, the pasta and the seafood specials. We can have anything from a salad to pizza to seafood to pasta, all yumms! And best of all, Hermie at the bar and Roberta who oversees the restaurant are a delight!! They make every guest feel welcome and at home...and did I say Hermie makes an awesome martini. That and their winelist makes it a great place to dine, whether its for something light or more formal.

    About two years ago my hubby and I spent the night there after the Long Beach Marathon.  We live in the city, but were part of a team and this was part of our fund raising so we stayed there.  WOW!  The bed is all you need. The "Heavenly Bed" is just that.  You get lost in the fluff and comfort.  I didn't want to leave!!!  They sell the whole package but for a hefty price.  If I could buy one I would in a second.  Then I'd never leave my room! HAHAHAHA... the view from the rooms is wonderful, they have a pool on site, you're in downtown LB so all you need is a few steps away.  If you're staying in Downtown LB this is the hotel to stay at!!! Wonderful!!!

    I really liked this hotel, and here are my shallow reasons: They have awesome double shower heads that spray your whole body at once, and you can adjust the water pressure. They have huge spacious bathrooms with big towels. The beds have two different kinds of pillows, and tons of them. The TV's are not nasty old 19" antiques, but larger flat screens. Also, the mattress did not hurt my back. They had in-house tech support to help with my Internet connection at 10:00 at night. Also, the heated outdoor pool is open until 11:00 and the gift shop is open until 10:00. That helped a lot when I needed a toothbrush. The convention center and lots of restaurants are just a short walk down the street. All of the staff was nice and efficient. No complaints at all, other than the prices. Didn't get a chance to try the restaurants in the hotel.

    I'm not sure what's wrong with this place. Its nice and clean on the inside but rats scurry in plain site out front. Everyone was nice but when ever I requested anything to be brought to my room it was ignored. I've never had that happen at any hotel. Usually they will say "no" if they can't do something. Here I called on 4 occasions each time being told "no problem" by the staff. But no one ever brought me my order. Really strange.

    The front desk staff was helpful, Marco was very nice and helpful. He helped us with checking in and our stay was pleasant. Even though the hotel is a bit on the older side, overall the stay was pleasant due to Marco's warm reception.

    Let's see.  Where to start:

    Reservations/Pre-Arrival:  The website was easy to use, and gave a decent description of the facility.  They only showed pictures of the suits, and the pool, so we really didn't know what we were getting into for our room.  2-3 days prior to our arrival, I received an email talking about the features of the Westin, along with a weather report for the week I was supposed to be there.  This made it very nice for deciding what to pack.

    Check-in:   As you walk in the front door you find a sprawling lobby that seems to run the full length of the hotel. It's size gives the luxury appearance to the hotel and the service doesn't match.  I parked under the hotel in the self parking which they charge you $15 per day on top of your room.   They don't say anything about that online or when you make your reservation.  I hate hidden fees, so this really upset me.

    The room:
    We got a standard single king bed room.  The bed was very nice and the sheets felt wonderful.   We were on the fourth floor.  When we arrived we turned on the ac unit and set the temp to 65.  We then went for a walk and when we came back the room was warmer then when we arrived.   The outside temp was only 72 so it should have been able to keep up.  Finally at 10pm when it still had not cooled down we called the front desk to fix it.  They arrived quickly, and changed out the air filter that was WAY BEYOND OVERDUE to be changed.  The room started to cool down, but it still was not quite right.  Next thing was our view.   Outside our window was a huge palm tree.  It was a beautiful tree except forth fact that the branches scratched up against our window when the wind blew.  Being this hotel was in Long Beach, the wind always blows, so if you are a really light sleeper, don't get this room, or the 4th floor.

    The gym/pool/spa:
    This was wonderful.  The pool was about 80 degrees and the spa at 104.  The jets felt wonderful.   After we relaxed in the spa and swam a few laps we went to the gym.  A modest supply of free weights and life fitness machines.  All with the iPod/iPhone plug in to record your workout to Nike+.   The room was a little warm but very nice.  Plenty of towels, and  a water machine made it nice.

    Express Checkout:  The express checkout option was very nice.  When we woke up on our final day, a printed folio was under our door of all the charges.  If you agreed with the charges, you simply put your room key in the envelop, dropped it in a slot downstairs and left.  That was nice.

    Overall, the place was pretty nice, and the views from the other rooms were wonderful.  I believe that we just got them on a bad day perhaps.    I am still going with 2 stars on this because for the price, I would have expected better.

    Nice hotel. Had a good view of the city from our room. I really liked the bathroom, however the shower was clogged and would fill up to your ankles. The only thing I didn't care for was the covers on the bed. They were not soft or comfy. Good value hotel, great location in Long Beach.

    This is for the breakfasts at the hotel. In short, it's Ok. It can be pricey but I didn't have to pay luckily (The visiting party paid on their company expense). In total I had 3 or 4 work related breakfasts there. It's pretty decent, everything seemed fresh including the side of melon that often can appear to be old or abused by the time it reaches customer's tables. The portions are not enormous and I was aghast at the sight first and I wanted to say "Waiter, can you bring one more plate of the same?" but I guess this helps keep the morning energy up (vs. being overstuffed and sleepy).  
    There were no issues with service overall but the check can be hard to get unless asked well in advance like before you finish your food as they are scarce after the first 10-15 minutes or so).

    Stayed here in November and I can tell that they did some remodeling, which was nice.  The room was spacious, their room service was prompt, and we had a great view of Ocean Blvd.  We managed to stay here for $50/night thanks to an online travel site.  This hotel is right across the street from the Long Beach Performing Arts Center and a few blocks from Pine Avenue and The Pike area (which is where all of the shops, restaurants, bars, and clubs are located).  Would I stay here again?  Yes, I would.  Would I pay $150/night to stay here again?  Probably not.  LOL!

    addicted...to the westin.....the "heavenly bed"...the abundant staff....the tidy interior....the food....westin has the perfect formula for comfort, relaxation and amenities....powerful dual-head showers....immaculate rooms....

    close to main long beach strip....walking distance to restaurants, bars and all the yuppie goodness a guest could desire...

    The room was pretty although small:  it had two double beds versus two queen beds. The remaining "sitting area" in the room seemed to be designed by a scientist who figured the least amount of space before humans felt like gerbils in a cage.

    The bath was pretty with granite counter tops. The double shower heads were nice. But the toilet was running all the time after a flush unless you jiggled it. I do not expect "jiggle toilets" at this price range.

    My friends and I found the beds to be too soft.

    The breakfast buffet was good but expensive. Got gobs of fresh fruit and yogurt. The coffee in the restaurant was not great. However, the service in the restaurant was slow and inattentive.

    They only provided coffee enough for one person in the in-room coffee maker. This is pretty ridiculous in a double room. When we asked for four coffee packets (for our individually brewed coffeemaker) we were told they could only supply us with three.

    Felt that for the money spent, there was not enough feeling of quality.

    Boooooo, Westin! You suck! I had high hopes for the Westin but was pretty much entirely let down. First of all the "doormen" NEVER opened the door for me. Keep in mind I was carrying luggage (which they didn't offer to help carry) and pushing a jogging stroller with my baby in it. If it were just me walking in, sure....I don't need any assistance, but COME ON! I was clearly strugglilng with the door and they just stared blankly at me. So, the room. We got the JR Suite. It was small and very old, but clean. I would have given the hotel 3 stars for the room except for the fact that at night the hot water worked BUT in the morning it wouldn't work at all. It was freezing cold!   Two last gripes: $19 for two eggs on the breakfast menu and $10 for guests to use wi-fi!! Get real.

    This place is hella close to everything Long Beachy so it's a great place to stay when you wanna party it up in da LBC.  I tried Priceline and got this place for super cheap so take a chance and see what you get.  The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable and the bathroom had cool mirrors and lightning.  And this is the best part....there were TWO shower heads so you and your significant other, friend, trick can take a shower together! ooh la la ESCANDALO! I want to apologize to the neighbors who complained about us as we prepared to party it up.....ooops!

    We had a very enjoyable stay here the night before we left for a cruise. Everything was very nice in the room. The breakfast the next day was more than enough.  The best part was the extremely helpful bellman. I accidentally left my smart phone in the cab and didn't notice until we were inside the hotel and the cab had pulled away. The bellman didn't hesitate to get on the phone and call every cab company until he located my phone. We had it back within an hour and a half. We were able to go enjoy a nice dinner, at a restaurant within walking distance, and the bellman even called my husband to let him know the cab driver was on his way back to the hotel with the phone.  Above and beyond great service in my book. I will definitely be back for a longer stay.

    The first "fancy" hotel I've ever stayed in and it didn't disappoint. It's within walking distance of the convention center which is great because let's face it, if you're not there for a convention then WHY are you in LB? The room was beautiful and very modern. Clean and comfy and a huge bathroom with lot's of counter space which is big with me. Very happy and would stay here again - as long as work is footin' the bill.

    I had to cancel a last minute reservation at the Westin Long Beach...was transfered to the Front Office Manager, Devon, who told me he was not authorized to waive the cancellation fee and said that the Reservation Manager would have to call me back the next day to advise.  (My thought...Why is he a manager if he can't make a decision?)  I was not satisfied with his answer and called back requesting the GM's voicemail, whom the operator did not know who that was...Anyway, no one called me the next day, HOWEVER, I did receive a voice mail two days later from Faye, who acknowledged my request and that the GM also got my voice mail and my reservation was cancelled without penalty.  So, thank you Faye for "owning" the situation and following up with me...much appreciated.

    It had been a long time since I had done any business in Long Beach and was pleasantly surprised.  The property is centrally located.  At least for my purposes.  It was only a couple of blocks from Pine Street where there are a lot of restaurants.  A block away is the convention center.  

    We were upgraded to the 16th floor and it was very quiet.  The rooms have Heavenly Beds that are a signature item at Westin Hotels.  They are very, very comfortable.  It cracked me up a few years ago that female colleague convinced her husband to buy a Heavenly Bed for their home after she had spent a year sleeping on them while on the road.  The room was very clean and spacious.  I do a lot of work in the room and the desk was very large with enough outlets to power all the electronics I carry with me.  We had a couple of issues with the safe and curtains.  The staff was very responsive and apologetic.  I even received a note from the manager apologizing for the inconvenience.  

    I was disappointed with the concierge though.  The first night there we wanted seafood.  I asked her about a couple of romantic restaurants for the following night also.  All three recommendations were sub-par.  I was very surprised that a Westin would have such a poor concierge service.  Very disappointed.

    I will stay here again because overall the quality of the rooms and service was excellent.  I would stay away from the concierge when it comes to restaurant recommendations.

    Great hotel, friendly staff, very clean with nice amenities.  I was so comfortable staying here I wish that I could have spent more nights.  I'll definitely look into staying at Westin's in the future.  I used Priceline and only spent $90, which was a bargain in my book.

    Great hotel. Beautiful view from my room. Everything is clean and everything's in order. I got this hotel from priceline for 85 bucks! Beautiful decor also In the room nice desk for my laptop and it was really got this weekend and the air conditioner works great. It has a 32 inch HDTV and safe to name a few room things. The shower heads were a little bit leaky and had calcium on them but I swear it's the best shower I've ever taken in my life. This hotel is also earth friendly and has recycled soap bottles and recycle bin in the room. Lastly after the shower the robe made me felt like a god. The wifi is 10 bucks for in room but you can go to the lobby (beautiful by the way) for 1 hour free and then just start putting fake info for basically unlimited time.

    typical westin, but the service was the best of any westin I've stayed at - staff was very friendly and, well, just cool.

    I really liked the running card with maps of proposed running courses for 3 or five miles (basically run down ocean blvd about 2 1/2 miles turnaround) but still a nice touch - the three mile run I went on one morning took me through a cool craftsman-y, art deco, mid-century mixed neighborhood -

    and as I came back into the hotel after my morning run, the valet was quick to point out the free bottles of Propel to re-hydrate in the lobby - I don't like Propel and a water cooler with a cup and some lemon wedges would suffuice, but it was a nice touch.  

    Being a starwood preferred guest, I got a very nice room, comfortable bed with nice calming neutral color scheme - gorgeous view of the water - and a free bottle of acqua panne each day of my stay.

    my only complaint?  $9.95 for in-room internet?  what is this?  1999?  even your aloft offers free wireless in each room - c'mon westin, don't nickel and dime us like that.

    This property is well located, near all the action in LB. Very clean, friendly staff, ultra comfortable bedding, great shower jets, very good silent AC.
    The downs:
    - The fitness room could be better equipped.
    - No lounge bar, although you can just walk to the Sky Room or Seville
    - Expensive parking
    - Room to room isolation could be better given the number of uneducated families with children that surprisingly are to be found there too!

    Stay away! You will be charged a fee for everything, 7.95 for example just to print a single page document from business center PC, 17 dollar parking when the lot behind hotel is 5. 7$ just to take a fed ex envelope and ship it..out of touch in this economy

    I really think that this place is solely riding on its reputation as a Westin and the fact that it is located in Long Beach, other than that our entire stay here was less than enjoyable.

    Luckily, we got a really good deal on Priceline for the room, but when my cousins and friend tried to book a last minute room it would have been $300 and anyone who is willing to pay $300 for a hotel room where room service goes on "a limited menu" after 10PM, the wood on the doors have missing pieces, the carpets are old and smell, the rooms are dark and depressing, and where it takes them 10 minutes to call you back to tell you the soup of the day, is in for a BIG letdown.

    The Westin by LAX was 10 times better than this hotel.

    Used a NYOP website and snagged a great rate!  So it was totally worth it for the price.  Only one complaint.... the restaurant service is the worst I've seen in a really long time.  Although the staff seemed friendly, they also seemed comatose...no sense of urgency at all.  It took over 10 mins for the "bartender" to come to our table and after he greeted us he asked what we wanted to order...but we had NO MENUS!!!  To save time we decided to just order buffalo wings.  They came out cold, and resembled microwaved frozen costco wings...not good at all.  There are some really awesome places to dine in LBC so PLEASE take my advice and skip the restaurant in the Westin.

    I've always enjoyed my stay at the Westin in Long Beach. I want to say that the first thing that comes to mind are the upgrades! They've offered me upgrades when I check in without waiting for me to ask for it. The front desk is always polite and very helpful. Never felt rushed here!!! Well the regular rooms are great as well and most of all the proximity to a lot of good restaurants around is really helpful after a long day of business meetings.

    oh yeah...heavenly bed and a view...it doesn't get much better than this!  I was in this Westin for a week last October...and while I had trepidations about the location and well, everything bad you ever hear about hotels, this place put all my worries to rest.

    and the parking garage, fabulous and well lit!  never worried once about my beautiful little ride getting door dinged or taken -- staff is attentive and responsive.

    don't miss out on ordering your poolside bloody mary...of course it would have been nice to have had afternoon sunshine on the pooldeck, but with a drink in hand and a hot tub, who cares!

    I was at the Westin recently for a CVB breakfast and I have to say that the service was very good and the breakfast pretty darn good (I'm not a big fan of breakfast buffets in general). The hotel is stylish and spacious, I liked our event room, I liked the staff. It was all good.

    But here is something that really bugged me. They had terrible floral arrangements in the lobby. They had nice tall glass vases with a small bunch of one type of flower (I used to do floral design but the name is escaping me right now) tied in the center and leaning to the side in the vase. They looked like place holders, as if someone was just starting to organize the arrangements and had put the first type of flower in to keep it out of the way - and these were in the reception area!

    It looked sooo shoddy.

    I get that times are challenging and they need to save money, but just up the street the Renaissance is doing a great job with simple orchid stems. I feel like calling the Westin and offering my services.

    Amazing Hotel.  There is always something going on at this hotel with conventions, TED, or the Long Beach Grand Prix.  I have eaten at most of the downtown restaurants, hotels and bars for the past 6 years.  By far The Westin Hotel in Long Beach got the friendliest staff and great food with an awesome view.  

    My bartender Jose P. will treat you like family, they are down to earth, and he will make your drink the way you like it!

    It was "A-OK". I enjoyed it. I will stay again.

    PROS: 1. Location to the Long Beach Arena (in the LB Convention Center). Literally across the street, steps away. 2. The mattress. The bed was CLEAN, soft, roomy. You'll sleep great. 3. Room Service. Was tasty and delivered quickly by nice, clean, friendly employees. 4.Guest services. Early check-in and late check-out was easy, quick and no problem. We forgot toothpaste, and it came right up.  5. View.  one window facing the beach the other facing the city, both were lovely during the day and the night.

    CONS: 1. Price. We paid a lot for the room and for room service, (IMO; actually it was the first time I ordered room service! =o) but I don't feel ripped off. 2. Pillows. The pillows were flat. I wanted big nice fluffy soft pillows. The pillows did not match the bed....perhaps if I dialed "0" they would of sent some more up, but it was late and I felt I had asked for so much already.

    I think I made the right choice. Me and my husband went to a concert and enjoyed a nice overnight stay without the kids. I came back a happy woman.

    Great location for all things Long Beach.  We were here for a convention and it was located across the street from the facilites and just a short walk to local restaurants on Pine Street.  Not to mention walking distance from Roscoes - YUM!

    The pool was fine - caught a few hours of relaxing sun out there and the gym was good too.  Really nice treadmills.  The concierge is very helpful - they have a preprinted index card with a 3 mile and 5 mile run route.  Did 3 miles on the beach.  Did my 5 miles on the treadmill in the gym.

    On a "con" note - the air conditioning never really got up to speed in our room.  They definitely tried to fix it and offered us a room change, but we were already unpacked and decided to grin and bear it.

    For the cheap and healthier option - Subway is 2 blocks down at Ocean and Atlantic.  

    I'd defnitely stay there again if I had to be in Long Beach.

    the staff at this hotel is very attentive and definitely goes the extra mile to accommodate you. Great CS.
    Hotel is more a of a convention hotel due to which it is busy. Like other Westin, rooms are updated and well appointed but wear is visible. I have stayed in suites couple of times but during my stay none of the rooms offer sweeping harbor views. Comfortable beds, spacious rooms and clean bathrooms.

    Nice and clean hotel..very nice staff.. I got off of Priceline and was expecting it to be walking distance to the port of los angeles,. it was about a 10min drive, but it was ok. I would stay again. we only stayed about 12hrs, but it was worth it.. just be ware of the items left out in the room on the tray.. 4.25 for a bottle of water!!! we put the tray with all the candy and drikins in the closet so the kids would not help them selves lol..

    parking was $16..not disclosed on priceline and we only found out when we called, a bit much when you are already staying with them.

    all in all a good place to stay. the bell desk responded quickly to help get bags out of our room and we did not have any issues with any of our items missing.

    This is a review of the restaurant, not the rooms.

    I've got to say that I've held numerous breakfast business meetings in the restaurant of this hotel.  Each time the food and service was perfect.

    Typically hotel restaurants are lame with lame mugs, crappy silverware, Flo-type waitresses, etc.  This place does it right.  I suggest using it as a place for work meetings.

    Don't half step.  There are no other breakfast places in the downtown area for work meetings...so use this one.

    Are you ready for a "Heavenly" review?  That's what you get at the Westin, a heavenly time!

    Just so you know, at the Westin your bed is heavenly (it actually was pretty nice for a hotel - comfortable, nice linens), a heavenly robe, heavenly bath soaps, heavenly ice, heck I even took a heavenly leak on their heavenly toilet.  Just in case you aren't picking up on it, the Westin loves to brand everything "heavenly."  

    I stayed here a couple nights while I was taking the bar for its great location across the street.  One big complaint though, all around the lobby, elevator and your room, they talk about unwinding the Westin way with some Heavenly drinks and apps from 5-7 in the bar.  WELL, they make it sound like its free but when you get there, NOPE, not free, instead its inflated hotel prices.  I wouldn't order any food here since it is all marked up 75% and there are plenty of better options within a short walk.  Oh, and the heavenly Gym is boiling HOT.  What is it with hotels neglecting to use A/C in their gyms.  I'm working out, not going to a sauna!  

    Anyway, nice hotel, good location and totally heavenly!

    Wife and kids checked in Friday night for an Irish Dancing competition on Saturday for my daughters.   They woke up Saturday morning to find out that the shower wasn't draining!  With no time to switch rooms, my girls took two quick showers and filled the tub with water.  With no room to spare for more water in the tub, my wife couldn't take a shower.  I went to the front desk and explained this to the front desk girl, and also requested a 2pm checkout.  The girl said that the latest she could do was 1pm, and if I wanted to stay later she would have to charge me!  In light of the shower issue, you would think that the hotel would allow us to checkout at 2pm instead of 1pm, wouldn't you?  The Westin management is willing to have an upset customer post this type of review over the one hour later checkout?  In today's socially interconnected world, especially with Yelp, you would think that companies would make more of an effort to keep customers happy!

    Westin combines elements of an upscale hotel with lots of little examples of chintizness.

    The Good: the room we stayed in was rather nice. Decorated in a simple, modernist style. The bed, as others have mentioned, was very comfortable and made for an excellent, restful sleep. The bathrooms were nice and spacious and I enjoyed the double shower head. Maid service was relatively through and we remained well stocked with bath products.

    The Bad: the lobby and common area of this hotel were kept way, way too cool, especially for this time of year when we're entering the cooler, wetter season (SoCal basically has two seasons: dry/warm and rainy/mild). I actually was shivering in the hallways. And, yet, no matter how we set our thermostat, our room remained warm and muggy. Ugh.  

    The hot tub/pool area was nice enough, but, for the size of the hotel, should have been twice as big. They have a smallish fitness area and saunas in the men's and women's restrooms.

    As with many hotels attempting to be upscale, internet wasn't free. It actually cost nearly ten dollars a day. I love how bargain hotels almost always offer free wifi, but as soon as you go to something a little nicer, you get slammed with fee after fee.

    So, yeah...squarely in the middle. In other words, this is the type of place that would be alright if I was put up here on business (as I was this time), but would never choose this place for a vacation or pleasure trip.

    This rating is 100% for the banquet manager at this hotel Raquel.

    As stressful as event planning is, the only thing, the only person who truly made a difference is her. She has the most amazing attitude and work ethic. I could not have pulled my event off without her and her staff.

    The hotel is a good place for my events as well and I will continue to use this venue, especially if I can work with her.   They have a large ballroom on the 3rd floor with several breakout rooms up there as well.

    Thank you Raquel and staff for the bottom of my heart.

    I stayed the weekend here for the new year and it was nice. I had my puppies with me. Pet - friendly so that's a plus...prices were outrageous probably because of timing. They had a mini bar (fridge) in the room...very comfortable...parking 20 for valet, 17 self-parking. The one thing I didn't like about it were the extra taxes on top of taxes, I tipped room service, but they still withdrew gratuity from my account. Will I stay there again...probably not. Prices are bearable, I can handle that, but when you get sneaky with it, that's a no-no lol. Who likes hidden charges?

    I am literally becoming a yelper to give this hotel a 1 star.
    I checked into the hotel that I had booked online and knowing it is supposed to be a higher star hotel was absolutely disgusted when in my room at check in there was a milky colorless fluid (source unknown) down the mirror behind the toilet, half dried. DISGUSTING. I run to the phone to call downstairs, only to find a tiny piece of dried corn with wet dried around it, on a pillowcase on the bed next to the phone. They move me to another room,they  act as though it is not a big deal, only to move me with a bellman who believes he is being worked to death by helping me move for a second time.  This room has been smoked in. A non smoking room that smells like smoke to a non smoker is the worst... Moved again. Bellman has dagger eyes for me at this point.
    Bad enough?
    I get told to relax and take a swim and use the gym, only to be thrown out 1 hour prior to closing by a cleaning man who knew about as much english as he knew the hands on the clock. Insulted by this I called downstairs again.
    They offered me a brunch that next morning on the house. I did enjoy that. (highlight)
    When I wrote the general manager I was told I was never welcome at the Starwood hotels again. Really? I talked to Starwood and found out this hotel is privately owned. I have referenced this experience 100's of times to any of my clients going to Long Beach. When I teach in the school all over the US I tell them how this hotel is on my list of the top 5 worst in the US.
    The hotel is a completely disgusting example of the fall of elegance and customer service.
    If you would like pictures of the mess I would be more than happy to send or the letter from the hotel saying they could not meet my over the top needs.  CLEAN your hotel and my needs would be met.

    Good value for what you get.  Friendly and professional staff. Spacious rooms.  Nicely appointed bathroom with granite countertops and large mirrors.  Pretty close to the cruise ship terminal (you still need to drive about 5+ minutes or taxi in) and right by the convention center.  Some good restaurants and cafes within walking distance. (Check them out on Yelp!)  Free Internet only on the lobby. Pay parking but that's expected for a Westin in a business part of the city.

    So this is where my graduation was last night :) Everything was great they had cheese plates set up and bars available in 4 areas of the lounge... We didn't get a room here but the staff were super friendly...

    The only thing was the air conditioning and the food platter that was outside had random flies "hovering" NOt cool...

    Other than that The graduation went off without a Hitch and I didn't fall...

    YAY ME!!!

    Conference at the Westin.  Seems like my professional organizations end up at Westin-Starwood facilities.  

    Westin Long Beach was good but not great.  Usual standard conference hotel. Nice view from my room.  I think the problem is that I no longer enjoy these large cookie cutter hotels but prefer the smaller boutique hotels- my favorite is "Kimpton".  So maybe I am not making a fair review as I am biased against these large venues.

    The lighting was a bit dim and one of the socket had the remenents of a a plug- perfect for a painful shock.  Engineers fixed it right away but seems like housekeeping should have noticed that when they cleaned from the previous tenant.

    The room seemed overly warm even though I had AC turned to the coldest.  Engineering did make an adjustment but it still was not enough.  
    But for the purpose of conferences and meetings, the staff seemed well organized and professional.

    The housekeeper on my floor was an absolute sweetheart.  She worked the first three days that I was there but I did get to thank her for service.  

    I would be happy to return for business but would not select a large hotel for vacation.

    Front desk staff are really pleasant. The front desk supervisor was a bit ehh...I'm not really sure what to say. She was a little different, didn't seem to like her job too much. She kept giving me a weird look. I dunno, maybe I looked like someone she knew...and probably didn't like too much. Oh well...to each their own. The room was clean and probably had as good of a view that you can have in LBC. It's in a good area and is right now the street form where you pick up the Catalina Express. Me likes and I'll be back! :)

    **DISCLAIMER: stayed here for work, so I was completely price insensitive. The following review is based on the quality only.**

    When I first learned that my company's conference was going to be taking place at the Westin and would also be having the 400 attendees stay at Westin Long Beach, I was ecstatic.  I had stayed in two Westin hotels before, and was remarkably impressed by their elegance.

    Upon checking into here, I had similar visions of grandeur.  The lobby was very chic, and the concierge and registration staff were pleasant.  I was even upgraded for free to a room further from the elevator to eliminate hallway noise.  

    Unfortunately, the room didn't quite live up to my expectations.  The following are my grievances: 1) darkness -- unless sitting directly underneath the desk lamp, there was insufficient lighting to read a book.  2) pillows -- all 8 of the pillows were very soft and felt like they were filled with cotton balls.  some firm pillow options would have been nice.  3)  shower head height -- Yes, I am 6'2, but the shower head was hitting me at mid-chest.  I had to kneel down to rinse the lather out of my hair.  Otherwise, the room was fine -- bed, TV, and view of the ocean were all fantastic.  

    As a conference venue, I would unconditionally recommend the Westin Long Beach.  The conference rooms were well laid out, no IT issues, plenty of refreshments available, and the temperature was great.  Lots of great restaurants & bars are within walking distance, and 400+ were accommodated in one room quite easily.

    I'll be back at the Westin June for the second half of the conference, so hopefully I'll have a non-midget showerhead and some firm pillows when I return.  Fingers crossed...

    The room was very comfortable and spotless when we arrived. Hotel staff was fine. Issue was with the "green" housekeeping card you hang on the door so they don't change your linens. What the card doesn't indicate is that they don't come in your room - period. They don't empty your garbage or change out the wet towels I left on the floor. (I don't need fresh sheets every day.) It would not have been a problem if the card had accurately stated what services I would not receive. The next day, I did not hang the "green" card on the door and I still didn't get any housekeeping. I assume that is because I was leaving the next day, but it wan't clear.

    I love staying at the Westin Hotels.. Their hotels are always nice, beds are comfy and shower heads are great!!!  Also love that theres always a robe in the room for you.  This was a good location.. Located a couple blocks from Pine and Pike Street.. Easy walking distance... The rooms were decent sizes..Only thing I didn't like were the lighting in the room.. It was too dark.. There needs to be more lighting..We were there for a wedding and the venue set up was very nice..

    Only stayed one night prior to a cruise leaving from Long Beach. Got a price discount through Priceline's name-your-own-price offer.

    It was a nice relaxing start to our vacation, located within easy walking distance to restaurants, shops and a movie theater (all of which we utilized). We asked for a room with a view and were accommodated with such.  The blinds are heavy so we were able to sleep a little in.

    Helpful bellhop and staff in general. Enjoyable double shower head.

    Only suggestion would be to include SOME sort of breakfast, even if just fruit/juice/coffee in the very large lobby area.

    For a hotel carrying the brand Westin you would expect much better.  This hotel fails to really deliver that top quality that Starwoods is known for.  This hotel actually feels more like a Marriott resort.  When you first walk in you def feel like a Westin with marble and posh surroundings but then you start to head to your rooms and they are average.  The beds are nice and the bathrooms are small, but the part that make this a typical hotel vs. resort is the amenities.  The pool is very small, no place to buy drinks while chillin.  You have to go somewhere else and bring them up.....another words....No service by the pool.  What resort doesn't have service by the pool.  I would rate this a hotel to just stay over night and not a final destination for a resort in Cali.  Luckily my wife and I were only here because we didn't want to drive that night after a long day.

    It's really odd staying here. It's just kind of a mixed experience. We had to book hotels on a very rushed basis for the Crossfit Games and as such grabbed whatever we could. The rooms are indeed spacious, and I was glad to see my bathroom had a tub, I hate this new trend where hotels only offer a shower. And they provide plenty of towels that are relatively nice in size but by no means soft and plush. The beds, which they call heavenly beds, did someone switch them out at night? not BAD beds but by no means heavenly. Mattresses rather hard in my opinion. The wi-fi is $9.95 a day. The air conditioners seem to be on their last leg. If you hit temp of 65 and then hit fan speed from lo to hi, there is NO difference. And it is stretching it to make it cool in the room- put your temp on low when you arrive. Room service is ok. $10 for a large pot of coffee is a bit ridic and both times when I ordered room service there has been some error-- I ordered 3 scrambled eggs ONLY plus coffee and they bring me ONLY the eggs and added hashbrowns. The first time they bring creamer in the cheap plastic cups then the next day, same order the cream is in a nice pouring container?? Not a deal breaker but odd. Also, I've had messages on my phone every day. I call them and they say "You have a package waiting". So I tell them to send it up or I go down and wait. Each time after about 10 minutes they go "oh, we already delivered it to you, there aren't any more." HUGE waste of my time, tacky disconnect. Unreal. Would I stay here again-- if I had to. Our friends are at the Hyatt down the road and much more pleased with their stay.

    How can this place even call itself a 'Westin'? The first room I checked into had dirty carpet, moldy shower, peeling paint in the bathroom, hair in my bed, blood stains on my pillowcase and a shower that didn't drain.

    My second room was marginally better, the tub still didn't drain perfectly, the carpet was a little better but still stained, the armchair was dirty where people rest their hands and the dresser that held the TV was scratched from over usage (one of the photos shows this well).

    Thankfully this place is undergoing a renovation soon because the quality of the furnishings in the rooms is POOR. I mean honestly, I would expect this kind of quality at a Motel 6, not a Westin.

    The hotel was relaxing, clean and extremely close to the convention center. I stayed there for 7 days. My only gripe was that there was no free WiFi. I did not rent a car, since there is so much to do, see and eat within walking distance. Please be aware there is a $16 self-parking charge if you do have a car.  The lighting in the room and bathroom was a bit dark for me......I needed to study and felt like I was straining my eyes. I think they are trying to save money, but it makes it difficult to put on make-up.
    The reason they did not get 5 stars was due to having to pay for WiFi and the lack of customer service at the restaurant. I am paying an arm and a leg to eat at the hotel and would expect the same wonderful service that I get at the front desk.

    Flight got delayed so they put us here. LAX to Long beach was a mad drive but that aside... Westin was a great place for a night stay. The staffs were super friendly and accommodating. A lot of people were scheduled for the flight but they were organized in getting us coupon for free dinner/breakfast.

    Room was massive and so modern! I am particularly blown away by the double shower head. After crazy rescheduling and last minute delays, a hot shower was all I needed. The beds were so comfortable I believe, at some point i didnt really want to leave for the flight.

    Food was fairly served. We got to choose from a buffet. Though most of them seem like pre-made hotel food, they were fresh and simple. Again, service was brilliant. They were very obliging to special requests and generous to offer as well. Requested for a vegan meal and was real well made. Thank you for providing such lovely hospitality!

    Stayed here the night before I ran the Long Beach Marathon. Considering the place was filled with runners, you'd think that the hotel would be super accommodating. I mean, we provided all of their weekend business after all.

    But alas, no. They would not even give me a late check out time. I literally had to rouse myself at 4AM, do my pre-race prep, pack up and check out before hitting the starting line. It was pretty annoying. Thank god my buddies were there to give me a hand.

    My parental units also stayed here when they came to watch me in the race. I booked their room and specifically requested a room with a view and to have all down comforter materials removed prior to arrival (one parental unit is allergic). None of the requests were honored at check in and it took a lot of unnecessary haggling with the concierge to get this done. I was really surprised by the terrible customer service here.

    I stayed here for two nights after getting a decent deal on one of those name-your-price website. Upon check in, we were assigned to the 5th (lowest) floor and that we would have two full beds, not one king bed. We tried complaining but they said that it was the last room available because of a conference. The room itself was decent, aside from not utilizing basically half of the room (the other bed) and I liked the free starbucks coffee and tazo tea. I had to call them to bring up bath robes (empty hanger on the bathroom door) and the robes were not soft at all! They weren't waffle-cotton like some nice hotels, but instead felt like old terry cloth that was washed without fabric softener. However, when I took a shower the water would not drain. SO GROSS. We took a dinner break while we waited for it to drain (Go to George's Greek Cafe!) and when we returned the tub had not drained. After complaining, management said that they'd "upgrade" us to an "ocean view" room, which basically overlooked the LB Convention Center and we could only see a tiny bit of water.

    The purpose of the visit was to just hang out so I was excited to lounge around the pool. Imagine my disappointment when I saw that the pool was no bigger than my hotel room and crowded with screaming kids! It might be the smallest swimming pool I've ever seen, and it was at a very large hotel. Didn't make sense to me at all.

    I really expected much more from the Westin. Yes, the pillows and bedding were soft and fluffy, but that was the only thing noteworthy from our stay. I will not be coming back and I recommend against this hotel if you're not here for business or a convention.

    P.S. Wifi isn't free!

    Since my last stay, I'd add another half star, but ONLY because we stayed in a suite for a week, which was more comfortable and apartment like than just a hotel room.

    OK so THIS TIME we stayed in the Avalon Suite on the 5th floor, which is a one bedroom, 1.5 bath, plus living/dining. It has a peek-a-boo view of the ocean - it was nice, but I really have to object to them calling these "Harbor View" suites and rooms, when the view is almost 100% obstructed. On the plus side, it has a nice downtown apartment feel. In fact, one of the room service people told me that it used to be the apartment for one of the managers, and behind a locked door is a kitchen/laundry. The living area of the suite was especially nice, and it included a dining room and a half bath which is always a plus. One bad thing, we were given a floor plan of the room that included a bar area, and the Avalon Suite most definitely did not have one! The bedroom was almost exactly like the room we stayed in before, so see my previous review for that. We were annoyed to discover that the room had two double beds and not a king like we had requested, but like another reviewer, they said it was the only suite they had left. We were smooshed up in a double bed for a week! (Apparently the attached room on the other side is a king room, but someone is staying there long term according to the hotel. I could hear that dood talking on the phone IN HIS BATHROOM, gross.)

    I ordered room service twice, and both times the food was really good. The only shady thing was that the menu says the caesar salad is $18, but on the bill is was $22...not cool. The express service people were always nice and accomodated me for silly things like when I needed envelopes.

    I like that there are TWO count them TWO mini bar fridges in this suite. That was helpful when we had dinner leftovers, or had run to the store for some snacks. They have additional refrigerators available on a first come, first served basis, but we were unable to get one and made do with what we had. And I have to say I was completely mesmerized by the huge HD TVs....CAN'T.LOOK.AWAYYYYY.

    Overall I enjoyed my stay. I have no idea how much it cost since I was there for a conference and my room was comped.

    Last thing, the hotel is conveniently located near the convention center, the Pike, and if you walk the other direction there's a little mall with a Wal-Mart, Subway, other stores, etc., and the Promenade that has restaurants. Extremely convenient, and there are so many businesses around that you can go to the grocery store, get your drycleaning done, and make copies all without having to utilize the hotel's very expensive services. Not to mention that you can walk to the pier and the beach!

    My wife and I got married over the weekend here and we were so happy. Karen and Raquel our Wedding Coordinators for the Hotel were unbelievable. True professionals and have an eye to make your experience seamless and beautiful. Karen throughout our whole experience encouraged our vendors to contact her and all of them stated what a pleasure she was to work with. Raquel the day of our Wedding assured us that everything would be fine and told us to go Relax and everything would be handled. Well, she was spot on. Better than my wife and I could imagine. Thank you Karen for making our day so special. We are eternally grateful for making our day extra special. Keep up the great work!!!

    The Westin is an older hotel, but has had many upgrades, and the staff is very accommodating. The food isn't bad and service was good all 4 days of our visit. I had a room with a view and it was cleaned and restocked each day.

    First time at this property. Stayed her the other night and considered it average. The bathrooms was nice the bed was okay but the room smelled damp/smoke? not a fresh scent. I prob give this place 2 1/2 stars. Wouldn't bother with staying here again. Another downfall was no free wifi and $17/night self parking.

    This Westin is marginal even against declining brand standards. This hotel must thrive on convention business, which I was not in town for.

    I was given an upgraded room on an upper floor, but the L-shaped layout was odd and the huge flat screen TV could not be viewed from the bedroom area or desk. Room was tired overall, with those grim buzzing CFL lights in every appliance.

    I have SPG status, but would recommend the AVIA Long Beach if you were staying in this area. The hotel is newer, rooms smaller but more cleverly designed, and even more accessible to shopping/restaurant options.

    I just spent three nights at this hotel and it was not pleasant. I am very glad that I received a discounted rate as I would have been mad if I paid full price. The entire time I had my AC at the coolest temperature (60 degrees) and turned up to high on the fan setting.  I never slept under the covers as it was too warm and if I was in the room between 3:00 and 6:00 I had to sit under the AC vent to keep from sweating. I asked them to fix it after the first night and they did nothing.  A friend of mine who was there for the same conference had the same problem with her room and she complained multiple times a day each day and they never fixed the problem. Bed was comfortable.  Not enough power outlets. No free wifi.

    Service was average.  The hotel and room had an overall dirty feel (shower head was disgusting).  The bed and sitting are separated by a wall and you can't see the television (sleeping area) from the sitting area.   I added a star for its close location to the convention center.

    I was in town for convention this summer, enjoyed comfortable room with good chair, decent desk space. Had "partial harbor view" which was enjoyable from south end of the 12th floor. Internet access was acceptable. Ala carte breakfast items priced to encourage taking buffet, all food prices high but lots of restaurants within walking distance. Room air conditioning struggled in 90 degree temperatures, friendly staff said it was maxed out - that affected sleep rating. Value reflects convention block rate with internet, I believe lower rates are normally available.

    This is a fine hotel, in a good location, and is being refurbished this fall. A very nice property which, as noted in previous reviews, is in need of updating. If you can look beyond the older and worn things in the room, you will find this to be a good place.

    There are hotels closer to the Pike shopping and dining area/Convention Center (Hyatt) and a little closer to the street (Pine) of restaurants (Renaissance). But it is simple and easy to walk to the waterfront, the Convention Center, the restaurants and anything else you may wish to do in Long Beach, as long as you recognize the benefit in a walk of 15 minutes or so. There is a Starbucks a block away, on the Promenade.

    The exercise room on the fifth floor is not large, with four treadmills, one bike and one elliptical machine to choose from. The small pool is on this floor, too, outside, with a hot tub.

    Meeting rooms are on floors two and three.   Overall a good value and will be an easier choice after the refurbishing.   Starwood Preferred Floors are 14 and one other.

I mean, if you're in Long Beach for anything other than business you've got bigger problems.  The staff is great and so is the movie selection.  But the rooms felt very very old and the view out the back is terrible.  If it wasn't for a government rate I probably wouldnt stay there again.

    Paid 87 dollars total and would not pay a dime more considering the condition of hotel. Checked in and saw internet cost a whopping 14.99 for twenty four hours. Very slow and just under 1 mps, which sucks. The bathroom door handle was broken and the shower head was installed way to low. Had to bend my knees just to get my hair wet. Only one Starbucks coffee pack in room.  Not many lights in room. The a/c was not working and cannot go below 60. I like sleeping in cold rooms. Lobby carpet dirty and lobby itself was nothing inviting. This is off par with other Westins that have style and modern decor. Everything in the area closes early. Wont be returning.

    I stayed here with my bf after one of his work events (his company awesomely pays for rooms after events where alcohol is served).  Although I was only in the room long enough to sleep and shower, I was very pleasantly suprised.  The room was spacious, clean and nicely decorated.  

    Westin advertises that they have "Heavenly" brand beds and never having slept on one before my stay here, I didn't get the big deal.  As soon as I laid my tired head down, though, I knew what all the fuss was about - this bed was sooooooooooooo comfortable!  My bf and I both thought that the bed lived up to its name: heavenly!  After checking out, I mentioned to my bf (in passing) that you can actually buy Heavenly beds for your home...I think he may be buying a new bed soon.  No complaints here!

    Westin also has white-tea shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion.  Normally, I'm not too big on scented products but this stuff was amazing.  After using the products, any time my hair moved and I caught the scent I smiled - I smelled fantastic if I do say so myself.  

    Since we live in the area, I don't know that we'll be back to this Westin unless it's after another company event but I would definitely stay at a Westin in another area!  

    Bottom line: Wonderful hotel experience.

    Definitely not the Westin in Los Angeles. Staff was friendly, quick to valet our car and offer tips, Sergio was our bellman and was very polite. We reserved a king bed partial view and received a double and a view of the roof top, opposite the harbor. When we complained we were told they were booked, we even called way before we were to arrive and were told we would get it. When in the room the bathroom was filthy, new towels and toiletries but dirty robe filled with men's facial hair? Tooth paste all over the sink... Made us wonder what we were going to sleep in. Thankfully the beds were nice and the sheets and covers great. We called the front desk to get our car from valet and they never communicated with valet we were waiting for our car. We waited for an extended period of time before a young man came out and told us they never relay the info and went and got our car. A few of the hotel guest were waiting because they called the front desk because their was not a never to the valet service. The valet serviceman was great and gave us directions on how to catch the freeway.

    Loved the atmosphere. I've worked in hospitality for the past 34 years and always enjoy when I'm made to feel special. The hotel lobby was sprawling and comfortable. Each employee that I came in contact with were delightful, professional. Used "good morning...good evening...welcome back (after leaving for a couple of hours). Stayed from Thursday to Sunday in a Parlor Suite on the 16th floor. Very relaxing...our rooms were bright. Great view of the Pier and Aquarium. Limitless eateries outside of the hotel and within walking distance. Love the bathroom also, double shower heads, nice bright lighting, and a really nice shower curtain that I fell in love with. The top third was a sheer mesh fabric (see through) and the bottom two thirds snapped off for easy cleaning. Really cute idea. We had these green tea products: soap, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, lotions. I tried them all and they were really refreshing. We ate a breakfast, a dinner and lunch in the Grill and enjoyed each meal. Really, cause you need to know that I am really picky...wait (I'd rather say "selective"), sounds nicer huh? Yes I would go back.  Westin! You done good! Thanks

    I checked into my hotel at midnight, and in the morning found one of my bags missing. I went to the security and they had known at 3am that someone had opened my car door. they did nothing about it. A little after that, another security guard saw my door closed. I filed a claim, their insurance just called me, made me tell my story for about 20 minutes, then proceeded to tell me that the hotel is not responsible for lost items. I feel like they are very irresponsible for doing that. They obviously knew someone stole something out of my car, why do they feel like they are not responsible for it?

    I was only going to be at the hotel for 5-6 hours, and I figured it was a Westin, so I thought it would be safe to leave my things in a secured parking lot that I had to pay $18 a day for! They wouldn't even reimburse me for the parking fee!

    I was very happy to book this hotel through hotwire 'mystery hotel'  for $82! It was rated 3.5 stars which was correct!

    As soon as we checked in and got into our room, we had a knock on the door, and they asked if we wanted coffee or water free of charge! So 2 bottled waters and starbucks packet coffee per day! (we already coffee in the room)

    Has everything you need like hairdryer, iron, coffeemaker, FRIDGE! and even a robe!
    Beds and pillows were comfy. Room clean. Also accepts Pets FREE of charge! Has a pool, gym, lobby is big and bright.

    Now the downside as to probably not 4 stars is that there are small signs of "age" for this hotel. Rust on the shower curtain rod, small bit of scum on that metal circle piece on tub, and one of our white washclothes had brown stains! eew... it was washed, but I think the stain just didn't come off. Also, parking is $18 overnight.

    It is across LB performing arts, Chase Bank, and walking distance to Rock bottom brewery and other restaurants in that area and a crepe place. However to get to the Pike, we had to drive a short distance.

    The room itself is nice, and the 12th floor offers a lovely view. That being said, this is where my favorable review ends. I booked a rate with daily self parking included, but hotel guest self parking at $18/day is a bit steep. $15/day for WiFi is almost unreasonable, considering most quality hotels (never mind the average coffee shop) offer WiFi at no charge for guests. Tired from a long day of travel, I dined at the hotel lobby restaurant. I was first given a menu missing pages. After sitting for 10 or so minutes without having a server come near (and there were maybe 5 tables sat in the entire restaurant), I was handed a full menu and I ordered a glass of wine to start. A bit after receiving the wine, I had to ask after the complementary bread basket I had seen every other table receive. Dining alone in an almost empty restaurant you think you would have decent service. I ordered the salmon. The salmon had no flavor, and was sitting in a off-white "sauce" that wasn't much more than a discolored watery liquid. The flavorless liquid rendered the salmon and vegetables almost inedible. When I asked for the bill, my server clearly saw that I had barely touched my dinner but he did not inquire how my meal was (not at any point). Overall, I was very disappointed with the meal and, although I have yet to even stay the night, I can't say I will ever stay here again.

    In typical big hotel fashion, the hotel has a beautiful lobby, great amenities and the staff is very friendly.  However, the room was OK and the fitness room was a disaster (more on that later).  I was greeted very nicely and was actually upgraded to a "newly renovated" room.  Imagine my excitement.  When I arrived at the room, honestly, it looked like any other room.  No big deal.  I expected more and maybe they built that by saying I was "upgraded" and it was "newly renovated".  If this room (which I considered standard - especially for the price) was the upgrade I can only imagine what a normal room looks like.  I will say having free starbucks coffee in the room and two free bottles of water a day is a nice feature.

    Now, on to the fitness center.  This was really a travesty for a hotel like this.  It was extremely small (imagine.. one elliptical machine for a hotel this size) and the elliptical machine barely worked.  Looked like they had decent treadmills however the weight area was bad.  I stayed in a hotel in Green Bay, WI for $89 per night and the fitness center was 3x this one and everything worked.  At this Westin Hotel, I felt like I was working out in someone's basement (it is on the 5th floor).  

    I guess I am most disappointed in the fitness area because as a business hotel you would think they would really want to help with keeping people fit.  Not good here. They also have what appears to be "healthy" meals on their menu.  When I asked for the nutritional information they had no idea .. could not give me any data.  They finally sent me up the "recipe card" which was the equivalent of telling me to go figure it out myself.

    So, all in all, a "decent" place and for the area not bad price.  Greeting and staff are fantastic, room is "ok", fitness is a disaster and the service from the restaurant could be picked up a notch.

    I liked the size of the room and loved the Heavenly Bed. However, the rooms were dark, especially the bathroom. I get saving energy, but this was really dangerous for me. Forget about using the very nice make-up mirror! These were definitely problematic issues, but I was really unhappy with a number of my encounters with the staff. I felt the front desk clerk checking me in was rude, because I wanted to pay cash. We had our credit card number stolen the last time we stayed at a hotel and thought it prudent not to give an opportunity for that to happen again. The bartender at the Grill is a superstar, but the rest of the staff ignored my party for 15 minutes before the bartender took our order. We only had an hour between convention panels and had to rush our meal. Since this is a convention hotel, that wait service was inexcusable.

    Disappointing. Always enjoy going to the Westin. Although this hotel was disappointing. Great rooms per usual. Service here was sub par. They have a "late check-out" where you can check out at 3p.m.. To "enjoy the city more". What they don't tell you is that it's about a hour long process that includes reactivating your room cards. So much for enjoying the city. They also gave us the wrong keys and had to wait another 20 minutes for the right ones. Also, if you plan to leave the hotel to go to the courtyard or to a nearby restaurant, they lock all the doors so you can't get back in the way you came. They say it's for your safety. So you have to walk through the front entrance where cars are coming and going. So much for safety. Staff is friendly except when you are speaking to them over the phone. That's when they sound bored and act tough. Won't be staying at this Westin again.

    A Typical Business/Convention Hotel located a block away from Long Beach Performing Art Center and Metro Station.

    Location: As described above, its convenient even if you are not driving (proximity to the LA metro, if you do rely on LA's public transportation system).

    Exterior: Fan Shaped, give the room facing the ocean excellent unobstructed view towards the harbor, other rooms have the view of the city.

    Lobby: Very grand with 3 stories tall atrium gives plenty of sunlight in the lobby during the morning hours.  Complimentary WiFi in the lobby area.

    Check-in: Very fast since there were no line. Staffs were efficient.  Some were very nice and trying to help yet others were just trying to finish their shift, the staff's quality varies a lot during my stay.

    Room: The room itself started to show wear and tear (The hotel was renovated 4 to 5 years ago).  The decor is not as modern as you would expect at a Westin Hotel but still the Heavenly Bed is always Heavenly.  Its still very clean and comfortable.

    The room I got was actually one of their bi-level suite. The view was awesome.  top floor with the 2 floors tall window. The room itself break into wet bar, guest bathroom, dining room for 6, and living room with Bose sound system (first floor).  On the second floor, there are two offices, bedroom, and a master bathroom with dual sinks and a jacuzzi tub/shower combo. Its definitely big enough to host a big party in this room.

    Fitness Center: Located on the 5th floor with cardio and weight equipments.  There's also a sauna , jacuzzi and swimming pool.  Many people were sunbathing during my stay.

    Parking: $15 with in & out privileges

    Overall: Nice business hotel.  I wouldn't recommend people to stay here if they want to sight see LA but its definitely nice for business travelers.

    A great hotel!!!
    The beds are amazing, the showers equally so.

    We stayed here for my wifes work trip/conference. It was a great experience and they were super friendly accommodating for our family which included a 4 year old. The bell hop went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure our stay was enjoyable. All the staff in fact were very professional and helpful with any and all requests.

    If I am ever in long beach I will keep the Westin at the top of my list of places to stay.

    This was a nice Westin. The staff was really nice, the room was really clean, updated and quiet. The bed was, of course, heavenly.

    One star taken away for the room and bathroom being VERY very dark. All the lights were very dim and it was difficult to see. You fellow ladies will appreciate- the bathroom was way too dark for makeup application. In fact, I had to load up my makeup and take it with me to apply in the car! Pretty darn inconvenient.

    I get that they're trying to do the whole "relaxing/tranquility" thing, but at least provide a lighted mirror for putting on makeup!

    One less star for $16 parking. Seems a bit pricey to me.

    We stayed at the Westin for 2 nights and it was my first time in Long Beach. The location was very good as it was centrally located between the beach and the little cafés and shops that are on Broadway.

    The parking sucks because it's quite expensive, but I think any hotel is that expensive too. I guess that it's a good thing that you can walk to places nearby and not park again elsewhere, so you end up [kind of] saving money.

    We had no problems with checking in or checking out. The restaurant downstairs didn't look like I would want to try, and the "going green" voucher can't be used at the gift shop, so FYI.

    It did take us forever to leave the parking garage at 11:30 AM and I bet it was because everyone else was leaving at the same time we were. Oh and I wish they had free wifi in the rooms...that pisses me off so bad!

    If there were words to describe Long Beach, it would be an enigmatic collection of local eateries, and tourist traps, coupled by low income and fleeting moments of normality.  Never mind all that, this hotel is a nice one.

    So what is here?  There's a Westin.  Tucked away in this local scene, is a Westin hotel, which is located in a moderately good location.  The hotel itself is clean; its large lobby creates a space which is vast yet inviting.  The smell is distinctly Westin, and when you walk in, it's quite the contrast from the surrounding neighborhood.  It's a small piece of luxury, which encapsulates all the great things a good hotel should offer.

    Let's talk about the rooms, they are clean and smell nice.  Immediately when you walk in, you feel the tall ceiling and inviting bed, calling you to make yourself home.  The TV provided is a decently sized flat screen, and if you are a frequently traveler like me, you instantly recognize the remote controller, the very same you see at every hotel you ever stay at.  The bathroom is nicely sized, and there is plenty of light and space there as well.

    How about the meeting rooms?  They have a great ballroom setup, with nicely sized meeting areas, which have air walls to control the size, and the staff there, will go out of their way, to make sure you are happy.  When we asked for something, it came right away, and they took their service to eleven, when you even took care of the little things, making the place look so much cleaner and better.

    So you are looking for a hotel with exactly what you would expect from a Westin, then this is it.  While the surroundings aren't as nice, it is centrally located a few blocks from everything, food, nightlife and etc.  This place makes any long day in Long Beach, relaxing and worth it.

    We stayed there as there was a convention and it was walking distance to the convention center. Check in went fine and we walked to the room. I notice some of the doors looking worn and when we got in the room, it looked okay. I did notice this room needed some minor repairs.

    When we went to the amenities area (pool, sauna, gym, etc), the sauna wasn't working at all and the sign had been up there for over a month. We ended up staying one night and went to another hotel for the second night.

    Overall, the service we got was fine. However this hotel does need some maintainance attention.

    So I would love to give the ol SPG spot a 4 star...however is appears to be an old spot, renovated only from the 8th flr up from what I have heard and experienced.

    I take a critical lens on this only because I am a frequent biz traveler. So those of you in town for one night...bumpin and grinding and keeping me up at night..thanks for letting me know how thin the walls that this place are..

    The bar and staff are pretty chill and keep it down to earth. I had a couple of hard times getting upgrades as a platinum member (not happy)...and that is a big deal to us..SPG take note- if you want loyalty...treat the frequent goers with the goods.

    Other than that, close location to the beach..or whatever you call it in long beach lol

    Okay, when I originally booked the room I stated I was visiting LB for a cycling event and that I needed a secured area for 2 bikes, "can you accommodate?" The operator said "sure, just mention it when you arrive".

    When I arrived I discovered that their "secured bike area" was an exposed bike rack near the elevator. I didn't find that very secure and said I need something better. The check-in guy then told me that he can see my request on the booking information and looked a little puzzled on what to do about it. He then said "well you can take them to your room". That was music to my ears! With what I have invested I'd prefer my bikes literally with me in the room than anywhere else in the hotel. Once we rolled the bikes into the lobby, everyone who worked there held doors open, held the elevator and acted as if it were no big deal. And because of this experience I consider this hotel my preferred stay while in Long Beach (I'm from San Diego). As for the hotel itself, very nice, clean, a very nice view, no complaints and fantastic customer service.

    Ugh. What the heck? This hotel advertises "luxury" but the whole time I felt like I was in a cheap crappy run down motel. The room was NOT clean, some of the fixtures didn't work and others were seriously deteriorating, the shower didn't drain (I had to call maintenance for that one - gross! Who the hell wants to stand naked in someone else's funk?!!). Last but not least...the curtains were falling off the rod. Totally ridiculous and disgusting. NOT worth the price they charge for the rooms...stay somewhere else.

    Add to that the fact that I tried to get dinner at the "restaurant" downstairs and stood at the hostess desk for ten minutes and was completely ignored by several passing waiters who looked at me and kept on walking right by. I even mentioned the issue to the girl at the customer service desk, but she just suggested I walk three blocks to the nearest restaurant, and handed me a map. Seriously? Their own employee is steering customers clear of the hotel restaurant! What's that tell you?

    As for room service. Well...I just couldn't bring myself justify $20 for a two egg breakfast. I'm not sure what they were thinking there. So in the end, I had to go out of the hotel every time I wanted to eat something. And with no free parking anywhere around downtown, that meant walking every where. It was really annoying.

    Don't stay at this hotel. It's not worth it. There are too many other nice hotels within blocks of this one that are much better and actually care about the condition of the rooms and the experience of their guests.

    Worst hotel service ever. Really pathetic staff. I will be canceling my SPG account over this. Brian, the manager that evening, was truly classless and rude. We arrived at 2 in the morning with a botched reservation on their part and were sent away. When we called for some customer service help we were left on hold for 25 minutes before hanging up. Called back and got no assistance. Such a disappointment. We will be switching to Hyatt or Marriott.

    I have to say I was extremely disappointed in this stay. I have stayed at other Westin locations, but this one doesn't measure up. Here's a quick recap of my stay:

    Pros:
    Wonderful staff! Polite, knowledgeable, and professional
    Variety of yummy places to eat close by
    Beautiful hotel
    Happy Hour at the Grill
    Beautiful room
    Spacious bathroom

    Cons:
    The bed - Westin prides itself on the Heavenly Bed, which is why I was looking forward to staying here. Mattress was rock hard. We ended up sleeping on top if the comforter :( and the pillows we completely flat and lumpy.
    The shower - again, really? Dual shower heads were great, but the tub didn't drain. Ankle deep in water every time I showered.

    When there are so many many other comparable options close by, because of the bed and shower issues I will not stay here again :(

    This was an astonishingly disappointing hotel experience. Staying at a Hampton Inn would have been better. Here's a list:

    $14 for internet in the room that's "high speed" but can barely load simple pages in a reasonable amount of time, let alone stream netflix or YouTube.

    Tepid water in a bathtub that doesn't drain properly. Water was only hot enough for a 1 minute shower, at which point the tub was filled to my ankles. Probably clogged with hair.

    In our room there was a $5 bottle of VOSS that had clearly had the seal broken and filled with tap water (by the previous guest?)

    Room service brought us the wrong cereal and it took them an extra 20 MINUTES to bring us the right one.

    I'll admit, this one's a little nitpicky, but the bathrooms have no fart fans.

    That about sums it up. Whatever redeeming qualities this place has certainly aren't anything your standard freeway hotel can't provide. The fact that this place labels itself as a 4 star hotel is insulting.

    This Westin is fabulous! I also love the New Balance gear available at the front desk..as i had forgotten some of my workout clothes. However, i called down at 530am to get them and apparently the Housekeeping staff does not start until 630am and they are in charge/have the key for the clothes.

    I had to pick up someone from the cruise ship port in San Pedro...perfect drive away 15 minutes and got to run in a safe location along the harbor.

    Nice hotel, central location in Long Beach. Couple blocks walk to Pine Street where there are some good local restaurants. The rooms are nice.
    Food at the restaurant is ok, I would venture out and eat somewhere else.

    Had a ladies' day/night here and just loved the place!!  It is definitely located in the best place...walking distance to Pine Ave where all the great foodies are located..and I loved the fact the pool was open till 11:00pm and we had a great time!  Thank you Westin---you rock!

    We stayed at The Westin the night before we ran the Long Beach Marathon. The three stars are for the convenience, friendly and accommodating staff, comfy pillows, and the nicely-scented tea aloe soap.

    Gripes:
    -Room did not come furnished with a microwave nor mini-fridge.
    -$17 overnight parking fee.
    -Ridiculous lodging/tourist fees tacked on to the room rate.

    All in all, it was nice to only be a five minute walk away from the race site.

    Booked an executive suite, got a room that was only slightly larger than a normal room for more than 2x the price of a normal room.  Bellhop said some very insulting things to us - didn't even apologize when we called him on it, said he thought we need to lighten up and laugh a little bit.

    It's easy to enjoy a hotel when it's fully paid for by the company.  Parking was plentiful even though it was a busy weekend.  Beds were comfortable but a little cumbersome with the duvet/comforter.  Pillows also were a little flat.  Nice touch on green tea leaf-shaped soap - I should have took some home.  Gym was sufficient with treadmills with TVs!  That was a nice luxury.  Staff very accommodating and treating you like an all star.  Bar i s a little small.   They should knock out a wall and make it a little more open.  Nice business-like hotel.  Would stay again.

    My wife, daughter and I stayed at this property pre cruise.
    We were impressed with the overall look, feel and cleanliness of the hotel lobby and room, the hallway of floor 12 was clean and nice looking, the staff was very nice and professional. With all of that up to expectations we were disappointed in the condition and cleanliness of  the bathroom fixtures; the shower curtain rod is terribly rusted which makes it look very dirty, also the exhaust vent appeared to not have been cleaned in a long time, there was thick caked on dust at eye level right in front of us while showering and the tub/shower drain drained very slow, we ankle deep water by the end of our showers.
    I feel that the bathroom refurbishments in hotels should include overhauling the old tub/shower combo into a more updated shower stall with door.

    I have to admit, I'm having a hard time coming up with something witty or funny or cool to write here.

    I've stayed here a few times, usually when I come to the area for New Years.  Service has always been good, the rooms are nice, location is good.  Nothing really spectacular or bad either.  I used Starwood points for the room, so didn't have to pay whatever rates they charge.

    I'd say it was "nice."

    You know, my ex-wife used to get upset when I used the word "nice".  She would ask me how she looked, and I would say "nice". How was dinner - "nice." etc.  And she would get upset because she felt that "nice" wasn't  "good".

    Now I think I know what she means.  Ask me how the Westin was, and I would probably answer "nice".  Actually, not probably, because I said it above.  So I guess I am agreeing with my ex - what is the world coming too.

    Anyway.  I like it here because of all I mentioned.  They gave me a nice room on a high floor with a nice view - same as last time.  But for some reason I didn't sleep well - seemed like I was all dried out - always thirst, sometimes too warm, then too cold.  Maybe it was the room.  Or maybe it was all the drinks consumed during my stay.  Who knows.  

    In the end - it was "nice".

    I stayed at the Westin on Business for 2 days in Long beach and thoroughly enjoyed it! The service was great and the rooms were decorated nicely. The only thing that I did not like is there is only 1 restaurant in this hotel and I am use to more of a variety when staying at the Westin. The weather was in the 50's so I did not get a chance to enjoy the pool. When visiting Long Beach again I would definitely stay there again.

    Only stayed for one night, but would definitely return. The room was very nice, it had a modern feel with a beautiful view. The hotel is walking distance to all restaurants, bars, and the beach. Staff was very friendly and the hotel was very clean. If I needed a place to stay while in Long Beach, this would be the place.

    The location earned the one star I'm giving this hotel. We arrived a little after 4am and woke up with breathing problems. We realized that morning that the pungent smell of mold was coming from the bathroom. We showered in a clogged up shower (with water up to my ankles) and headed to the front desk. We spoke with the manager and he switched our room for another on the same floor. When we went to the front desk to get our new key, the front desk lady demanded to know why we were switching rooms. Is it any of her business? no. Would she do anything to help at that point? No. She gave my husband plenty of attitude and very little help. What should have taken less than 5 mins took 20. We had family staying at the Hyatt, and although their room wasn't clean, the first question they were asked was "what can we do to make this right?". And guess what? They made it right. Meanwhile, other than moving our room, Westin did absolutely nothing to make it right. I don't want anything free, mind you, but I expect cleanliness issues at motel 6, not the Westin. I thought I was paying more for quality, I was wrong. Seriously rethinking our "vacation ownership"- it's a scam, and these hotels are simply not with the price.

    Although I only stayed 1 night at this hotel, I found the room and the hotel itself satisfactory for the most part.  We were given a room on the 15th floor (the hotel has  total of 16) with a view of Ocean Boulevard and the Port of Long Beach.

    Positives:
    1)  Clean room overall.
    2) Spacious bathroom with ample counter space.
    3)  Comfortable bed.
    4)  Helpful and polite customer service at check-in.
    5)  Great location as it's near bars, restaurants, as well as the Queen Mary, the Pike at Rainbow Harbor, and the Aquarium of the Pacific.

    Negatives:
    1)  Unclear directions in the underground parking garage.  My friend and I just found the arrows directing drivers/guests to "more parking" or "no right turn"/"no left turn" to be just a bit confusing.
    2)  Double-headed shower.  We just didn't understand the point of this, especially since the 2nd showerhead didn't work properly.
    3)  I thought the $17/day parking fee was a bit absurd and pricey, especially since we were only parking our rental overnight.

    Bottom Line:  Overall it was a decent overnight stay, and I would consider this hotel in the future because of its location and proximity to restaurants and tourist attractions.

    This is a staycation review as we were here with friends for the annual Crawfish festival, which is about a 10 min. walk from the hotel. We had a decent room on 10th floor facing the cityside. Apparently this hotel does not have ocean view rooms because of its location, the staff told us the condos acorss the street blocked the harbor views.  

    Met up with some friends staying at Hyatt Long Beach and that has a view of long beach harbor and beach in the distance. (and adjacent to the Crawfish festival).

    Anyhoo, the rooms were clean, fluffy cozy beds, and a mini fridge in teh room. Except it was not. It was only a cooler, as we found out. The staff told us there is a wait for refrigerators, the operator took our name but we never got one. She said we can store beverages but not milk or yogurts.  If we stay here next time we will bring an ice cooler. My friend is diabetic and was a little bummed but we made do with ice in the ice bucket in the room.

    The internet in room is $15 for 24 hours. We didn't bother and we always bring our own wifi hotspot. If you have one, bring it, you won't be disappointed.

    My friend said hotel internet is as slow as molasses. Free wifi in lobby to use. The only issue is if there are too many people in the lobby on the internet, the internet connection will be s-l-o-w-w-w-w-w-w-w.  Some TV glitches too but maintenance came to fix and was all good again.

    Too many people out by the pool, didn't use this at all. Gym is pretty standard, nice machines.

    Excellent Starbucks coffee to go at the restaurant, speedy service during the day. Too many places to eat outside the hotel and feasted at the festivel.

    We all pitched in for parking, $18 a day to park yourself. Front desk gives you a parking pass. Some people on here gripe about parking rates, but this is not Las Vegas free hotel parking,  this is Long Beach, the cheapest LA destination, compared to Santa Monica, San Francisco, Downtown LA, etc...
    I've traveled to some hotels and they onnly offer valet. So it's not the hotels fault.

    Travel tip: make sure you have extra money for little things like parking and having fun! Vacation time is not a time to save money, it's time to spend money!

    I've stayed at a lot of great Westin hotels around the country. This one is the worst one. The walls are really thin and you can hear everything happening in the room next door. You can hear every toilet flush in the adjacent rooms and everybody walking up and down the hallways. It's a very loud hotel. Also we got a knock from housekeeping 2 times. The first one was at 8am in the morning. After that I put a do not disturb thing on the door and they still came back and knocked and used their key to open the door. After yelling at them, I got a phone call from their office at 930 disturbing me again asking if I needed towels. After I complained about disturbing me, they disturbed me again to call and apologize. What the heck. Just leave me alone. I need my sleep.

    So Yelp removed my photos because they are "extensions of my review." Uh, yeah, I thought that's what most people's photos of reviewed places were. Okay, whatever.

    So I've stayed at this Westin a couple time since my last review. Why? Business needs dictated it, but it still remains a Westin in need of some help.

    It does appear that they've updated some of the furniture, that's a plus.

    But what wasn't so cool on my most recent stay there was a cockroach hiding out around the in-room coffee supplies. Luckily, I found the critter as I was heading to check out. I told the clerk at the desk that they might want to have the room fumigated. She apologized.

    Price is great, rooms are fine. No spa or really anything to do in this hotel. The food was ok, but not worth the price. Staff was nice, but I asked for late check out which was approved and then my room key did not work when I got back to my room so I had ot go back down to check in and wait for 20 minutes- negating my hour of late check out. They are VERY nice especially the bell men. I would stay again.

    The hotel itself isn't so bad, however the personnel tend to be less than friendly and act as though they'd rather be somewhere else than doing their job and the security personnel go above and beyond when it comes to coping attitude, don't go to the grill for dinner and drinks Javier and someone who calls himself gilbert will run you off and toss out some very colorful language while they do it... according to Javier, he owns this particular westin.

    This was an overnight stay - my wife was on business, I was there to relax. We had a good time in the hotel and local area, and the niceness of the hotel played a large part.

    Roadway access and parking was easy, although getting around the bays was strangely complex and non-intuitive. Nice large parking bays to avoid those dings from other car doors. Parking elevators are separate from room floors, but very close. Check-in was quick, friendly and efficient. The lobby and atrium has a nice open feel to it, and pleasant to be in.

    The room was very clean, pleasant and had a nice minimal aesthetic. Bed quite comfortable, but not quite as "heavenly" as described. Sheets soft, thick, and no smell of laundry. Nice double shower and stylish toiletries. Would have liked a dimmer control on the bathroom light for that early hours half-asleep visit. TV had a good picture, but the listings were only by channel (no program guide I could find). Great view across to the Queen Mary from our room.

    The pool is accessed only by weaving one's way through the treadmills, thence to the outdoor pool and hot tub on the 5th floor. Once you get out there it is quite nice, with generous fresh towels. The pool was a nice neutral temp, and clean. It offered interesting views of the surrounding city areas and distant hills. Just wish it had a more direct access, not through the treadmills.

    The surrounding area has quite an interesting character. Lots of trendy, stylish or quirky restaurants if your know where to look, and some artsy shops and people. Well worth an exploratory stroll around the area.

    Breakfast in the lobby restaurant was standard large hotel fare - various cereals, fruit, hot breakfast foods, in buffet style. Service was of a business style (friendly, efficient, minimal). For a weekend visit maybe a more interactive and relaxed style would be appropriate. For the preoccupied business traveler, it is just right. Accessing the buffet was a minor obstacle course, rather than a generous pathway, but not a major issue. The restaurant had a nice feel, and over by the planter wall was a good place to eat.

    We were able to arrange a quite late checkout with no question - all the reception staff were friendly and most helpful. And in our final time there we asked Fernando, a member of the lobby staff, to take our picture. Fernando was so helpful, friendly and courteous, he left us with a warm feeling for our Westin experience. Hope he gets an acknowledgment.

    Overall, we had a good time staying at the Westin Long Beach and felt were were taken care of.

    Stayed one night at the Westin Long Beach for a business trip.  Seemed to be a decent location - easily walkable to restaurants on Pine Street.  No directly on the ocean, but seemed easily walkable too (we didn't venture that way).  

    Large lobby with lots and lots of seating.  $17/day for self-park.  Free wi-fi was a bonus (that I've come to not expect at large hotels like this).  The rooms were fairly spacious (enough for me to spread my yoga mat and not feel claustrophobic) and clean.  You can tell the hotel was a little old, but not as horrible as some of the reviews make it seem.  

    Nice gym - 4 treadmills, 1 bike, 1 elliptical, 1 multipurpose weight machine, 1 bench, free weights, 2 exercise balls, and 2 foldable mats... in a decent sized space.  The only annoyance was that anyone going to/from the pool needed to cross through the gym.  

    IF (big if) I were to find myself in Long Beach again, I would consider staying here... but Long Beach didn't seem so happening in my short 24 hour visit.

    It's a Starwood property and exhibited the standard of service and quality expected of a Westin.  It is conveniently located near the conference center at Long Beach, and the hotel has a decent meeting/conference space itself.  The one thing that worked against them was the low ceiling on that floor; amplified noise level of conversations many decibels higher when everyone was gathered during break.

    Front desk was very accommodating of room preferences and helpful when advice was needed on area.  Room was lovely and very comfy.  Wifi worked great.

    Service at The Grill in the lobby can be spotty especially if you're there during their off-hours.  Fish dinner was fair.  Breakfast was better.  I enjoyed their Portobello Benedict which had poached eggs over firm tofu and salad; service was better but busy.

    I was here for 2 nights for a conference. My company tends to use the Westin Long Beach as the host hotel 2-3 times per year, so I decided to stay here this time versus the Westin LAX.

    First the Good:
    1) Easy check-in
    2) Friendly staff
    3) Bar/restaurant has good food

    Now the Bad:
    1) Small pool
    2) Small bar and restaurant (minimal wait staff, so service is a little slow)
    3) No Club Level!!!
    4) Our room (1445) smelled musty/moldy and not like the traditionally White Tea product smell. Spoke to front desk on the first as well as the second day, but no solution was offered other than "try turning on the AC." I had asked if they can send housekeeping up with air freshener, but none ever was brought up. The housekeeper hat cleaned our room didn't really speak English so we couldn't explain about the smell. She should have been able to smell it herself.
    5) Tub and sink drains were very slow

    As a Gold SPG member, i expected more from Westin Long Beach! Next conference in Long Beach, I would probably stay at Westin LAX (they have A Club Level and will usually upgrade Gold members to Club Level access) or stay at Marriott Long Beach.

    I stayed her for 3 nights, this place is classy and amazing and very local to restaurants and shops. Walking distance to Downtown Long Beach and to the Beach. Rooms are nice and clean, I had a nice City Beach View. One things is, you have to pay for parking and wifi. Wouldn't mind staying here again in a near future.

    The front entrance to get to the self parking was tiny!! We couldn't find the self parking because the tiny little sign was blocked by an SUV that was unloading who was also blocking part of the drive way to the parking and the guy pulling out from the valet! That's how small the entrance was. All we saw a little drive way that said do not enter. We were able to go around the SUV and down into the self parking. Although they had plenty of parking downstairs but was very confusing because they share lots for public (but for a fee) parking. It was $18 for parking per night! In and out privileges for being a hotel guest.  

    We stayed for one night on the 6th floor and we had a very nice view of the LB performing arts and aquarium. I have no complaints of the hotel room itself. Bed was comfy and cozy. Bathroom and everything was clean as well. I didn't hear the neighbors or anyone walking/talking down the hall. So that's a plus!

    Check-in starts at 3:00 pm. We arrived around 3:00 ish. Of course, yah know, when you go somewhere with no lines and then bam, line forms behind you. There were only two people at check-in and they took kind of long with the two guests in front of us. Well, if you know 3:00 is check in time wouldn't you have more staff at the front desk?!?  I was sort of in a rush to get upstairs because we needed to get ready for a wedding. We finally got to our room at 4:15!! Staff was nice though but lets get it moving people!

    We ordered room service at 11:30 pm. After 10:30 pm your options are very limited. Unfortunately we weren't full from the wedding we attended but its ok, we had the booze. Haha I immediately noticed that they only made stuff that could be reheated or cold stuff. WTF! It's The Westin!!! No freshly made hot meals?!?! Salad, cold sandwiches, chicken panini, soup or spaghetti. That's pretty much it. I got the chicken panini and my husband got the turkey BLT and it came with chips. 30 min later Sergio came to the door with our food on a tray. I was surprised he didn't have those rolling tables. He didn't know where to set our food as we had our belongings everywhere on the counter. We had him put it in front of the TV. He just pointed at it and repeated our order. We tipped him and totally forgot gratuity was already included! It was 15% and it does tell you on the menu but I forgot cause yeah...I had some alcohol in me. That's ok tho, not a big deal until after I tried my food. My panini was burnt and tasted like it. Couldn't even taste the pesto or tomato because they put one tiny piece of tomato. My husbands sandwich was dry but he fixed it with the mayo and mustard. We had no choice but potato chips and they were extra greasy. We had to eat it cause we were hungry and tired. Oh yeah, we also had mismatching colored linen napkins. I don't know what was up with that because I thought it was The Westin!!! Lol It's suppose to be one of the top hotels.

    I'm not one to complain, especially food but it was upsetting. Even other hotels that a little lower star ratings than them brings freshly cooked meals in the middle of the night. Maybe it's not Vegas hotels that I'm use to but I don't know... Just a little sad that the room service wasn't up to par.

    I would definitely stay there again because of the room but will know to skip the room service especially after 10:30

    Oh and my husband did try the gym and he said it was nice. I don't have much 411 on the their gym. Haha You know men, they just give one word answers.

    This is the most pristine hotel I have ever had the privilege of dining, no less sleeping in. The staff is wonderful and extremely helpful. The food is divine (Wolfgang Puck????) and the bathtubs are clean as can be. The pool is spacious and great for fun little outings during the daytime.

    You will meet so many great people here at the Westin, too! From friendly workers to rando's that chat you up in the jacuzzi ;). But most of all, the cherry on top, is Long Beach itself. The most vibrant town I have ever visited - full of life, spirit, and spunk! I have been inspired by this town and am looking forward to starting my own new town, Short Beach. It will be fantastic - filled with Westins from shore to shore.

    Although, I do have one quick question (I was hoping you fellow yelpers could help me on this one XD), where is the beach?

    With so much drama in the LBC.....you'd think it would be easier to find a restaurant open at 10pm..

    But that isnt the Westin's fault. Well appointed, a stone's throw from the Convention and Performing arts center (and the surfeit of eating and drinking establishments in immediate proximity) and the usual grand chic of newly renovated Westin locations. Super fast WiFi, super reasonable rates. I didnt have a chance to take a dip, but the pool area looked swank.

    Typical. Easy. Excellent. Standard Westin Experience.

    Probably one of the worst Westin's I've ever stayed in.

    For the price point, hotel name and reputation, this place was far under par.

    Beds were dirty, the room smelled, the mattresses were terrible, soap never got refilled, we had to request towels every morning because they continued to not give us new ones, but took the old ones.

    Don't really understand what's going on here, but it's broken.

    Seeing as how it's a "convention center hotel," one would assume they can function with a full building, but there was nothing going on, maybe that's why everything was understaffed? I don't know.

    Nice clean rooms, beautiful lobby, up-to-date gym, within walking distance of a lot of stuff.  Friendly staff (even though there was a slight boo-boo when checking in and we spent a good deal of time unsuccessfully trying to unlock an occupied room; they read our room number incorrectly, so we had to go back down and get that fixed).  Stayed with our SPG points, so we paid $18 total for our one night stay.

    Expectedly overpriced restaurant, room service, gift shop, and amenity items... so we walked to the Pike for dinner and then to a local restaurant for breakfast.  Front of the hotel has a view of the Pike, rear of the hotel has a view of the city.  It looks like every room has a good view.  The pool is unheated even though it's open late, so don't expect to take a late-night swim unless you like it cold.  Check out the nearby community garden on 1st and Elm; really cool.

    Would stay here again in a heartbeat, but obviously for more time. :)

    My stay here was okay. Westin has always been one of my favorite chains to stay at. They are usually very upscale and have great customer service. This one either is not up to par, or was having a tough week when I was here.

    First, upon check in, they had my name spelled wrong in the computer. I asked them to change it 3 different times (so that I could access the internet) and it did not happen. A bit frustrating.

    I returned to my room after working to find that my door was unlocked, latch in the door, and that my suitcase had been gone through. They sent security up to take a look at the room, but did not allow me to change rooms.

    Finally, the last straw was the room service. I ordered my meal, it took them over an hour to get it to the room, when they did, the chicken was cold, and I was told that it would take about 10-15 minutes to go downstairs and microwave it (because they had 2 people still to deliver to before they could get back to me). It was delivered after 11pm (way too late for me to eat), and I finally told them to cancel the order. I was only told "we are having a very busy night". There was no apology or compensation. Needless to say, I missed dinner completely tonight.

    I am going to push my company not to book me at this location again.

    My family thoroughly enjoyed our most recent stay at The Westin Long Beach. We've stayed here once before, but this time the staff was exceptional! Dale was most hospitable at check in, Lee delivered room service with a smile, Jessica in the restaurant took "take out" to a new level of excellence, and Gabby at the front desk gave excellent directions. Everyone was smiling and pleasant, and made you feel like a VIP.

    And of course, Westin is known for their heavenly beds and heavenly showers, which really are both amazing. And our room was immaculate too.

    The food we ordered from the in-house restaurant was delicious, fairly quick. There is a full service fitness center with several elliptical machines, and several treadmills. There are also free weights and other equipment I didn't use, but it was nice. And the pool has plenty of lounge chairs.

    If I were to change anything, I would make Starbucks coffee drinks available in the gift store (next to the Coke and Pepsi), and the wi-fi needs more repeaters. We were at the end of the hall, and wi-fi service was intermittent at best, but other than that, total thumbs up!

    Nice hotel in the middle of downtown long beach. We needed to add an extra day from our hyatt hotel booking and this is the only decent hotel I could book a day. The lobby was airy and nice.  The staff are  friendly and the front desk staff was very helpful. She even helped and printed one shop I was searching for. The hotel can use a little upgrade, very 1960's I think.  Overall it's an okay hotel, I will only stay here if Hyatt hotel is fully booked. Which is the case for my family.

    We enjoyed our stay here at The Westin. We only stayed one night and found it to be quite pleasant. We didn't arrive until 10 PM, parked our car in the underground lot, and took the elevator to the lobby to check in. The lady at the front desk was nice and friendly, she said hi in Tagalog which I didn't understand but my boyfriend does. Check-in was a breeze.

    We went up to our room and it was nice and clean. I always check the bed first to make sure it has clean linens. Very important! Next I checked the bathroom and it was spotless.

    It was late and we were hungry so we were looking for a place that was opened late in the area. We had a little bit of an issue connecting to the wifi and had to call the front desk and was connected to a gentleman who was able to assist us over the phone. We were finally connected and was able to get online. We found a Ralph's that was opened late so we got some food and a bottle of wine from there and brought it back to the room.

    The shower was nice! I love the shower head as I thought it provided the right amount of water pressure.

    The Heavenly bed was super comfortable! And so were the pillows. We slept well! We had requested a late check-out and was given until 1PM.

    Parking was $17 and you do get in and out privileges.

    I came here for a mother's day brunch, when we called ahead we were infomed of the wrong time for the brunch buffet, but no worries, the food was good, even though I wanted breakfast. The afternoon went on with and drinks and conversation. I must say that although we had a party of 21 the service was very slow, we had 5 tables and 1 server. It took 20 minutes to get water, and the restaurant outside of us was pretty empty.
    When we got ready to leave, we had about 5 tables each with their own checks, I handed the waiter the check for the table that my son was sitting and handed my card to waiter and told him to close out this check and to come back for the one for the table I was sitting at. He returned having charged my debit card $200, the bill for the table where I was sitting, and a receipt for me to sign. I told Jay that he had charged my card for the wrong , and he proceeded to argue with me telling me that I handed him 2 checks and told him to close them both out. So when that was finally figured out, Jay was then told split the checks and place the balance of my sons table on my check, he was handed cash and credit card, we paid and we left.

    While outside waiting for my car in Valet, Jay came outside and told me , you have an outstanding balance and you need to come back in and pay this. I asked him what was he talking about as we had already paid. Jay and his suspervisor proceeded to argue with me as I told them, the check was paid in full and at this point I was not paying them another dime. Then looking over the bill we noticed that the server did not apply the cash that we had given him towards the bill. Then  the manager lady got an attitude with me and told me, "forget it, you don't owe anything just leave."

    Your staff was rushing and made many mistakes, our party of 20 was not in a hurry, but our sever made many mistakes across our tables. And then their attitudes were unacceptable. I've never been treated so bad.

    As I was leaving my younger cousin told me that he didn't want to return there because securty followed him to restroom, and asked him if he was guest of the hotel, when my cousin responded no, he was eating at the restaurant, they told him that the restroom are only for guests of the hotel. I thought that as paying customers of the restaurant, that that would have made us guests of the hotel and given us access to the restroom.

    I will never stay or spend another dollar at Westin hotel again in my life.

    I had a week long work conference and wanted to stay here since I had previously been here for a reception and had a really good experience.  

    Here were the good things that I took away from the hotel:
    1) Good customer service upon check-in
    2) Modern room and it looks like they have upgraded
    3) Heavenly bed (amazing)
    4) My room was on the 15th floor and overlooked the Queen Mary, Performing Arts Center, Ocean Ave
    5) Great housekeeping staff
    6) When I informed the concierge that the icemaker was broken, he immediately got someone out to fix it
    7) GYM on the 5th floor - I cannot thank this hotel enough for making the gym so conveniently located in the hotel and there were a good amount of machines including 4 treadmills, 3 elliptical, 1 bike, weights and exercise balls.  Water fountain and towels were plentiful in there! A PLUS during my visit
    8) Free boarding pass print out downstairs in their lobby

    I had to deduct a star for several reasons:
    1) Parking was $18/day underground (wow, expensive)
    2) I provided the hotel with my travel orders upon check in so that I would not be charged taxes since it was for a government stay, but they still taxed me and when I informed them that it was still charged, the lady in accounting (Yvonne) said she would look into and call me back.  I have yet to hear from her and it's been three days.

    Overall good hotel but it's really the little things that they need to focus on. Follow-through is a must if you want 5 stars.

    Clean room and great view of the harbor area.  Housekeeping staff was great.  Ice machine on our floor did not work well; two cubes per minute.  The exercise room was more of a hallway to the smokers balcony.  

    We had a problem when we arrived.  We came to town to attend a funeral.  It was late when we tried to get into our room with the provided keys and they both did not work.  I went back down to get new keys.  I was smugly told that I must be doing something wrong.  The woman at the front desk took the key and was told that security would have to be dispatched to assist me.  I did not need assistance; I simply needed a keycard that was properly authenticated.  Mind you that my wife travels for a living and that she knows how to properly insert a key into the door to get it to unlock.  After waiting for quite some time, my wife had to call the Westin platinum support line.  The security guard finally arrived with the key and chose to inform us in a condescending tone that, "the key works just fine."  When I am with my wife and child; I like being treated like a guest and not like an inmate.

    Maybe it's because I spent the night before in a budget motel (see my review of Hotel Current), but I loved the Westin Long Beach. ! Was staying in town for business and the hotel and location were perfect. Great customer service. I booked a last minute room on a Friday night and the front desk gave me a pretty decent rate. Super clean and elegant rooms, nice amenities, comfy robe, good bathroom and shower, nice lighting, big view windows, amazingly comfortable king bed.  Very little outside noise. Convenient underground parking. Great room service. Wanted Eggs Benedict after breakfast hours and they had no problem making it for me. Didn't use the pool, but the fitness center was also nice. 100% recommendation for the business traveler.

    Excellent location for spending a couple days at the beach! Hotel is clean, and rooms up to date. If you're an SPG member, the cash & points option makes this (in my opinion) the best option for an LA area beach weekend. Walking distance to the shore as well as several shops and restaurants. Underground parking garage was well lit and secure.

    It's a Westin so it's typically very solid and this was no exception.  Didn't have any complaints except that we were e-mailed that we were allowed a late check out but they turned our keys off prior to the check out time while we were out.  They fixed the issue immediately but it's something to note for people staying here in the future.  It's not my first choice in Long Beach as that title goes to the Hyatt Regency there but it's worth it if you are a Westin fan like I am.

    Very nice hotel in the business district of Long Beach, CA. The Westin is across the street from the Performing Arts Center along East Ocean Boulevard, and easily within walking distance of a lot of nice restaurants. Rooms are clean, quiet, and exceptionally comfortable.

    Outdoor pool on the roof, along with a very nice workout center with up-to-date equipment. Hotel will rent you workout clothing (including sneakers) for the duration of your stay for just $5. An excellent bargain!!!

    I'm not a fan of the hotel's restaurant as I find the menu selections rather slim, and the prices are astronomical, but there are plenty of local restaurants within a few blocks.

    I haven't YET stayed here. Just booked it through Expedia. While I'm sure the rooms and service would be great, I was surprised to find these hidden charges:-
    1. Parking isn't free. $18 per day! Which hotel charges for parking?
    2. Wi-fi is $15 per day. Even the 1-star rated, cheapest hotel these days have free wi-fi.

    What is more annoying is that you get to see this only after you have completed the booking. I wished the hotel was a little bit more responsible and transparent about this.

    Unfortunately I can't cancel this because my booking is non-refundable.

    Update: So I am just back from the trip. Even the 1-star I have is not deserved.
    Pros:
    1. Beds were comfortable.
    2. Customer service was great.
    3. You can order food 24 hours (night menu is limited though).

    Thats were the good stuff ends.
    Cons:
    1. As mentioned before, 15$ per day for wifi and 18$ per day for parking. My car rental with Midway was 14$ per day, cheaper than the parking.
    2. I asked for a room in the higher floors for the view. They did do that, which was so kind. But when I reached the room, the glass window was dirty - destroyed the view.
    3. Bathroom door lock didn't work. Not an issue for me and my gf, but I certainly don't expect this from a $$$ hotel.
    4. There were two phones in the room. The one near the bed didn't work.
    5. The heater in the room was ineffective. The blankets were pretty nice, so we used them fully.

    Tips:
    1. For parking, park in the nearby streets. 6pm-9am is free parking. After 9pm its paid parking through coin operated parking metres. Park all night, but be prepared to wake up early and take your car out before 9am. And be sure to look for the street cleaning signs. Tuesday and Wednesday are the street cleaning days in the morning. I got a 50$ ticket. So much for trying to be smart (to avoid the 18$ per day parking in Westin).
    2. Wifi is free in lobby. When you login it says 1 hour complimentary wifi, but then u can relogin after that expires and there is no charge.

    For the amount we paid for the room....eh.

    Rooms were clean.  Still had that antiseptic smell that I've come to find in the lower-end hotels, but I wasn't expecting it from a 4-start hotel.  Despite some things being clean, others weren't so much.

    For example, the coffee pot was not really cleaned from its last use.  Sorry, but that's kind of disgusting.  Glasses in the room still had questionable stains.  When I went out into the ice machine, it was broken, and there was this weird goo on the machine.  I mean, I'm not a germaphobe, but when I go into a place that I have to sort of treat like a temporary home, it's really hard to relax when I have no idea where some of the stuff has gone through before, especially when it looks used/unclean.

    Staff was pleasant.  Had no trouble signing in.  Signing out was more of an annoyance, but that's mainly because the group ahead of us was rude and inconsiderate.  The staff person ended up needing to go to one of the computers at the very end because the group didn't want to move.

    Garage is easy to access, but I still felt the $17 was a bit steep.  Had unlimited in and out privileges for the 24 hours, though.

    Food-wise, just go to Subway or the cafe down the street.

    Amount of channels on the TV was okay.  I think around 70 channels.  

    We were rudely awaken up at around 7 am by a screaming kid that would not stop screaming/giggling out of excitement for at least 15 to 20 minutes.  Note to parents: there are other people that are still trying to sleep around that time because they are there for a VACATION and to RELAX.  Just because you have a screaming brat does not mean that we want to deal with your parental duties and pains as well.  

    The A/C worked in the rooms.  That's kinda nice.

    You had to pay for wifi.  That kinda sucked.

    The Westin wasn't too bad of a distance from the Aquarium of the Pacific or from Shoreline Village.  

    My gripe is that the rewards they've been getting and their ratings seem to be biased.  I didn't feel that comfortable in the hotel room, and normally I'd be okay.  Bed itself was comfortable, but the pillows felt like air pockets: you'd put your head on it and it'd just flatten out.  No head/neck support at all.  

    Probably wouldn't come here again.  Besides, the hotel seems to attract rude patrons, and I really don't want to deal or stress about other people while I'm on a vacation.

    Pros:
    1.) Comfortable bed
    2.) Friendly workers
    3.) Convenient location

    Cons:
    1.) Our room was not available at 3 p.m. check-in time, which was a major inconvenience. We had to wait in the lobby for more than an hour until our room was ready.

    2.) The shower was clogged, so I was taking a shower and bath at the same time.

    3.) Housekeeping barged into our room (she knocked once and, before I could answer, let herself in). Her English was difficult to understand but she asked something about the coffee machine. I just smiled and nodded. She handed me a water bottle and left.

    4.) $18 for self-parking and $21 for valet, are you kidding me?

    5.) WiFi is $14.99 per day (again, are you kidding me?)

    Factoring in taxes and parking, we paid about $200 for one night, and we would have had a better experience at a Motel 6.

    My boyfriend got us a top floor corner room at this location.  The room was clean, fragrant and I especially loved the king-sized plush bedding and dozens of pillows which can all be purchased at Pottery Barn and Nordstrom (found out through their hotel catalog).  The bathroom was beautiful and had dual sinks and a whirlpool tub separate from the standing shower.  High quality soaps, lathers, robes and towels.   The room provided a great view of Ocean Blvd and was within walking distance to waterfront restaurants and beaches.  

    My only gripes are that they charge you a daily rate for internet and parking usage.  The gym is also a lot smaller than the pictures Westin provides on their website.  

    Overall, very friendly staff and we were able able to have a relaxing and cozy time at the Westin Long Beach.

    Great hotel and great location on ocean blvd. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Heavenly beds feel great and have plenty of pillows and down comforters. Flat screen TVs and mini refrigerator in room. Room also has coffee maker with no extra charge for Starbucks coffee and bottle water. This was my 25th stay and I was given complimentary beautiful basket of fresh fruits. The only draw back is expensive parking.

    I love the heavenly bed and loved the heavenly shower, but the place recently changed all the shower heads to a square rain head.  It is probably half the flow rate of the original double heads that were installed, so you have to take a shower twice as long to get the same clean feel.  I just hate low pressure show head and I even hate it at a upscale hotel.  We pay a premium price and expect premium amenities.  Please bring back the old shower heads!

    So 2 hours later we got our room!

    The shower was terrible the water backed up and I almost fell at least three times.

    Valet was an insane amount but not much more than self parking so might as well right.

    The location, bed and pillows were really the best thing going for this place!

    Housekeeping walked in without knocking while I was in the shower.

    The event I was attending there was good the room was gorgeous and the food was amazing.

    I wont return.

    If you ever wondered what would happen if an airline ran a hotel, you need look no further than the Westin. Do you like hidden fees on your bill? Do you like paying an outrageous fee to park your vehicle? Do you believe, in the year 2014, hotels should charge exorbitant fees for 15 minute chunks of wifi? If you answered yes, I begrudgingly recommend the Westin.

    On the plus side, while you scratch your head cross-eyed and confused over the fees tacked onto your bill, you can relax soundly on the bed in your room -- the beds are excellent.

    And if they haven't leeched your wallet dry by the time you are scraping for something to eat, the food is good (and overpriced). Especially the parfait. Otherwise, I would recommend everywhere else within a two block radius and beyond.

    We we able to stay on labor day weekend after getting an incredible rate using hotwire. We paid a bit over $100 a night. There was a hula convention going on across the street so it was pretty cool to listen to the music at night and talk to the other guests.

    Cons - the pool is ridiculously small. Like stupid small, but it was hot so we spent a good 10 hrs total in it during our stay. I was wearing goggles, unfortunately, and it was gross. Lol. I just had to say to myself "it's hot, be Zen" which helped.  I didn't mind the shower and kind of want a shower head like they have but my 6' hubby want happy that it wasn't high enough for him. Although the Wi-Fi was free for the weekend, it was too freaking slow so I had to turn my phone into a hotspot, which was faster than the Wi-Fi. Lol. The guest shop was ridiculously expensive. I bought a $4 bottle of Motrin for my son and they charged $16! I was poised off.  I get that guest shops tend to up charge but that was just stupid. Finally, why does hotel soap have to be so drying? And their lotion was terrible.

    Pros - the room was crazy spacious. We were able to early check-in at noon which was great. The drawers are nice and big. The desk was nice. The beds were definitely heavenly. I just love that it was triple sheeted and the duvet was awesome. Service Express, their room service and maid service was really fast and they did a follow up call.  

    I'd stay again for the killer rate but wouldn't pay full price, or even half price.

    I'm laughing at Henry's review because he gave it 3 starts for the dj and dance floor both of which were probably coordinated by his high school -and also, you had your homecoming at the Westin - stop complaining! Hotel is great for the price and location. Perfect for upscale amenities if traveling for a conference or wedding. Would not vacation here.

    Nice property in downtown Long Beach.  Walking distance to the convention center and to plenty of restaurants.  The rooms were nicely appointed and comfortable.  Rooms on the top floor have super high ceilings and windows...but that also translates into quite a draft coming off the windows.  When the heavy curtains are closed, it effectively blocks the draft, but when open make it chilly in the room.  Still, the payoff is a unique hotel room that you'd not get otherwise.

    I didn't stay here overnight, but attended my company holiday party at The Westin. Large open space in the lobby. The dinner was hosted on the 3rd floor. Service was great for there being almost 400-500 people at the dinner with tables OUTSIDE the doors. Waiters & waitresses were prompt on bringing us more bread, taking away our plates, providing water, etc. Nice decor and lighting. Definitely a great spot to host an event.

    I did get to see a room my friend was staying at. Everything was very clean and modern inside. The restroom sink was faced toward a corner but I liked it because it was different. Would definitely stay here.

We had a lapdog with us.  The Westin happily accommodated our puppy.  They even gave us dog treats and poopy bags.  I thought that was soooo nice.  They even provided our puppy with his own heavenly bed and bowls.  We couldn't ask for more.  We were able to check into our rooms early with no issues.  I must compliment the front desk lady, Kenisha.  She is a very classy lady.  She got our 3 rooms all on the same floor.  Kenisha was sweet and very, very nice. She was efficient and accommodating.   This is what makes Westin special, people like her.  Thank you Kenisha!!!  You have made our stay even more enjoyable and we will definitely think of the Westin when we are in Long Beach!

    clean lobby, friendly staffs, clean rooms except for the towels, some towels were stained and i found fallen hair follicles on the towels which grossed me out. Luckily i stayed here on my own so there were plenty of extra towels for me to use.

    i like that this location of Westin is walking distance to many restaurants.

    wifi is $15 a day. Self parking is $18 a day. expensive.

    nothing much to share except for those information i mentioned. just another westin.

    We used Westin for our class reunion. Beautiful hotel. The customer service was beyond  phenomenal. Starting with Stephanie when we booked our event a year ago. The follow-thru was top notch. The bellmen...Osman was the best!! As a reunion committee there was so much to unload from my auto. He stay that everything got to my room, then down to the event room for set-up, and finally my departure/returning to my auto. He was outstanding and most kind.

    The 24-hour room service personnel were great. The food was good including breakfast all within 15 minutes of ordering.

    Sean at the front desk was very nice as well.

    Cons:

    AC should be revamped in Shoreline Room. The Friday night event held in that room was like a sauna.

    The sleeping rooms are nice but bed covers  are very heavy!  Nice light weight robes.

    This was the best reunion ever!!!

    We stayed here last weekend, so we could leave early to go to Catalina. Booked the room with Priceline. We arrived around 8:30 pm on a Friday night, and upon arrival we were able to get a King bed in a room with a view on the 14th floor. Since we rode the train, we did not have to pay for parking but we noticed there was cheaper parking than the hotel offers nearby for just $5 a day. A plus for us was that the Metro stops about a block from The Westin making it easy access via public transportation. Another reason we picked this hotel was the short walk (about 15-20 minutes) to the Catalina Express pick-up.

    As to the hotel, we were happy with our room. It was clean, smelled fine, everything worked. Just to reiterate what other people have said, the wifi isn't free, so we didn't bother using it. I was surprised to see the mini-fridge was locked. Perhaps using it costs something as well. We did get 2 free bottles of water, and the two packages of coffee for the in-room brewpot were Starbucks. They also supplied real glasses for drinking out of as an alternative to the plastic ones (also present). They offer the glasses, the robe, and other items, through their hotel catalog if you decide you love them and want to take them home, but I like the idea of reusable items.

    No complaints. We enjoyed our stay.

    We stayed here a few weeks ago so our family could have a nice "staycation" and go to the aquarium. The location on Ocean Boulevard is great, walking distance to Shoreline Village, Pine Avenue, The Pike, the Aquarium, and more. We booked a suite, which included a pull out sofa for our children. We did have to switch rooms when we first arrived because our first room did smell a bit like mildew, but they were very accommodating. In fact, every step of the way, the staff was friendly, helpful, accommodating, and informative. We look forward to going back for another weekend "staycation" sometime soon.

    MILDEW CENTRAL!

    I stayed here for two nights for a conference that was downstairs. As soon as I walked into my room, the smell of mildew overwhelmed my senses. I immediately called the front desk and asked for another room. 15 minutes later a staffer came up and showed me not 1, but 4 other rooms, all of which reeked of mold.
    The problem is that there's barely any ventilation and the windows don't open. I even noticed the moldy smell in one of the conference halls.
    And I'm not just being nitpicky. The smell was unacceptable. I also woke up with itchy/watery eyes and respiratory irritation.
    If you are at all  sensitive, DON"T STAY HERE!

    I enjoyed my stay here, the pool was nice and the room was clean.  Walking distance to a lot of places.  The pool had wooden lounge chairs so that was a blast from the past but otherwise it was nice.

    I was here only for 1 night. I arrived around 8:00 pm and the genttleman who checked me in was very professional and gave 5 star service. They upgraded me to a suite and the room was like a full Loft with great views and large square footage in the room. The bathroom was large and loved the mirrors. We also had dinner at the restaurant. We sat in the bar and the bartender prepared a great peach Martini and recommended the shrimp chipotle salad. My friend had a chicken pasta and we were both very satisfied with our meal. Perfect Downtown location and walking distance to everything

    In town for work at the convention center and so glad my company had us stay in the Westin. Staff is wonderful and the front desk  ladies have been great each time I've called down for something. Room service was prompt and even delicious, always thought it would be expensive and less than good food but I think I actually saved by eating in! Now about the bathroom, love! From the bright white lighting to the huge rain like shower head (I'm a bathroom lover) even the robe they provide was comfy. Really I don't have anything to complain about which is awesome, the only thing I would say is that the phone was sooo out dated and had to use the speaker to call out because the cordless phone didn't even work. First time in a Westin hotel, and don't think it will be my last!

    Traveling for business has its perks but can be a drain for obvious reasons.  As the saying goes, there's nothing like home, but that doesn't mean that a place away can't be a close second.  The Westin hotel in Long Beach is a place I called home for twenty plus nights this year.  Being a loyal Starwood network customer, I prefer to stay within the network, but the options are limited in Long Beach.  Certainly it would be nice to have options and variety, but the Westin has been a great host all year and a consistent one as well.  Every stay was relaxed, I felt welcomed, pampered and typically checked out rested.  The hotel location is perfect, walking distance to the restaurant and bar strip with extensive dining options.  It's also across the street from the convention center.  A short walk places you right in the heart of the Rainbow Harbor and Marina where boredom is extinguished.  However, for local dining I prefer the restaurants on Pine Street, located just north of the hotel.

    The hotel has valet or convenient self parking located underground, although the parking spaces are densely packed requiring above average driving abilities.  I witnessed a guest perform the endless back and forth attempting to navigate the narrow path to the parking entry.  The valet attendants are very friendly and typically will open the hotel entry door for their guests, and are very efficient recovering guest cars.  Street parking is limited, so these are the limited options.

    The hotel has a grand entryway with pillars that would impress the Romans.  The lounge area is very open with abundance of natural lighting.  It also offers free WiFi and comfortable seating with tables, if the room becomes too stuffy during a long visit.  The rooms are well equipped with the typical accommodations a high category hotel offers including complimentary Starbucks coffee and bottles of water.  The rooms offer views of the ocean and a fountain light show to gaze at for hours.  A swimming pool and fitness area are open late with Westin's sports wear rental service, so one can travel light and still stay in shape.

    The staff is simply awesome, always welcomes me with smiles.  They are professional and treat each guest with the same curtesy without discrimination, as I observed several times.  Anytime I ever needed something, they are a phone call away.  I haven't stayed here for a couple of months and I truly miss its royalty treatment.

    C'mon Westin, you're better than this.

    I'm reminded by the seinfeld skit where the business takes Jerry's car reservation however, when he shows up he finds out that they've given away his car already. You know how to take the reservation, you just don't know how to hold the reservation. (source: youtube.com/watch?v=4T2G… ). Same story here - I made a reservation for a king bed room, but there's nothing they had. Actually not a biggie but it adds up.

    The room I ended up getting had a TV that was emitting a high pitched whine anytime it was on. Bad enough to the point where it was unusable. They transferred me to another room - with non-functioning outlets on the desk. It appears that the contacts were so loose just from being non-maintained.

    Still not the biggest deal.

    The internet here is paid internet if you don't have status or a corporate agreement. Here's the worst part though, it's not worth anywhere close to $15/day. It's barely functional. In both rooms I wasn't clearing over .25 mbps and with latency that made any sort of communications garbled. Downloads took forever to start and then they would time out . Completely unusable - and for a business travel hotel this is a deal breaker.

    This is in direct comparison with the Westin Sacramento I just came from (and every other Westin/Sheraton/SPG property that I stay at).

    Honestly kind of disappointed.'I've stayed here before and it was great but my service this trip was horrible. Ordered early check in, my check in to my room took about an hour and 30 min for me to get the rooms I booked - and it was after the normal check in regardless of early check in. I also ordered a roll a way and it took about an hour to bring it up when I really wanted to just go to bed. I've always heard the saying you get what you pay for but clearly that wasn't an accurate statement in this case.

    We stayed here for one night, March 22 for a wedding at nearby Loft on Pine.
    As a local that lives near Long Beach, we thought it would be nice to stay here along with some folks that were to attend and were in the wedding.  There was a block of rooms reserved.
    We stayed in a King room, 6th floor.  The room was OK.  Not upscale as I would expect for the price.  But its all about location.
    Bathroom was nice, had a fancy shower head.  Shower was in tub.
    Internet Wi-Fi charge was $14.99 each day!  Really.  How about not charging for this.

    The view was overlooking Ocean blvd and you could see the harbor.

    The hallway carpet needed replacement.  It wasn't stained, but it should be replaced as its showing its age.

    In summary, The Westin is OK.  I put the room as no better than a Marriott Courtyard.

    I would give it 2 stars but the location bumps it up to 3 stars.

    I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars for a number of reasons. Let's start with the positives:
    1. Great housekeeping.
    2. Great staff overall.
    3. Location is excellent.
    4. View from oceanfront room is very nice. We were on 14th floor facing the ocean. The lights at Convention Center across street added to the nice view.
    5. Room service food quality is good. Had breakfast and dinner a few times during our stay.

    Now the negatives:
    1. Parking fee $18 which is outrageous!
    2. Lighting inside room is dim which was annoying. If I wanted dim lighting, is turn some of the lights off!
    3. The bed was awful. It was not "heavenly" at all. I stay in Westin all the time and by far the worst bed so far!  
    4. Bathroom drains were slow.
    5. Wifi sucked!

    I'm writing mostly because of the bed and the dim lighting issues. Not upto Westin standards!! Otherwise it was a great stay.
