Clean rooms and friendly staff.... Enjoyed all the Hollywood photos on the walls.... Great place for the price.

I agree with Thadd.  This place is great for the money.

What do you really want for a hundred bucks a night in a hotel?  Personally, I want to be certain that I wont find anything gross in my room, other than that, everything else is frosting.  If I wanted something lavish, I'd be spending more than a c-note a night.  What you get for a hundred bucks at the BWHH is a very clean, spacious room, free wireless Internet, access to a late night coffee shop, very nice people and a pool.

If you're impressed, you should be.

The only complaint I have is that the showers take about 20 mins to heat up.  NO JOKE.  Its unreal.  They must be sharing a water heater with the Best Western on Highland or something.  I can't figure it out.

Other than an extra 20 mins warming up the shower, this hotel pretty much rules.   If you want to spend an extra 50 bucks or so, you can stay at the Hollywood Standard.  That will get you a smaller but "cooler" room.

    Cool is overrated.

This is a amazing hotel for the price.  The place is clean and is SO close to some great spots.  I even had my dad stay here and he thought it was a great deal.  You have the 101 Cafe downstairs that is open super late which is great, that is unless your room is right above it.

One time I took a trip to LA we stayed here, the location was so-so, I guess partly my fault for not getting a hotel closer to the Hollywood attractions. It is a few blocks from there and you had to pass an overpass to get to the actual Hollywood Blvd. - not so nice walking at night.  Also my main complaint with this hotel is that our room was not really clean - we found someone's clothes still in the dresser and even an underwear -- ewww.  Well good thing we didn't really stay at the hotel other than sleeping.  Next time I will pass and get a hotel closer to Hollywood Blvd.

I paid around $80 per night and for the price you can't go wrong.  Large comfortable rooms with the basics in a good location.  However, for our whole stay the elevator was not working and we had to use the stairs.  I don't mind some exercise but it was a bit of a pain.

My parents stayed here when they came to visit.

They have murals of old hollywood scenes on the outside and signed checks and framed records and autographed photos on the inside. The bathroom was amazing. The rooms in general were pretty standard but my parents room came with a fridge which was nice cause my dad could keep his NesQuik chocolate milk cold.

Also, see my cafe review as soon as I can figure out the name, there's a cafe (diner-style) downstairs that had good breakfast! Hotels without places for breakfast are so lame! Thanks BW Hollywood Hills for not being lame.

Oh my god, no one reviewed this place?

Well, I have to tell you that if I am footing the bill for a place to stay in Hollywood... this is it.  Without a doubt.

Chances are your favorite up and coming band stayed here too before they had the cash to stay at the Standard.

The rooms are cheap, spacious and there is a fun pool in the middle for your tour manager to jump in at 3am while drunk on the 400 vodka red bulls he just had.  (this is before EVERYONE drank vodka red bull BTW)

Anyway, people here are cool. They let you party. It is similar to the scene at the Phoenix in SF.

This hotel is not what I expected. It was so clean inside. I was in the king exec. romm and it was modern and the the room was big and it had a little kitchenete. I really did like this hotel, i just wish it had a little more ammenities. A 5 dollar cab ride and ur at kodak theater. I will deff. be staying here again.

My husband and I stayed here 5 nights - the room was clean and spacious and the small "kitchen" was a plus.  Staff was helpful, including the parking valets who were always there to take the car in and out (and we did a lot of that!)  The diner was convenient and good  with a reasonable and fast breakfast.  Free easy to hook-up wireless, huge tv, large bathroom, etc.  Definitely would stay again if in L.A.

    Hello all,
I research my choices of accomodation and after doing a fair bit went with this hotel. I know that you cant please everyone so thought that the few bad reviews on here were just picky people...that was not the case.

    First the GOOD

Recently renovated rooms, everything seemed clean and stylish. Very large bathroom.

    Now the BAD

When I arrived, there was no working elevator, luckily i was only on the second floor.
    Television reception was poor.
Location was terrible. You had to walk through a seedy neighbourhood under an underpass to get towards Hollywood and Highland. As well the windows were certainly not sound proof, and I heard endless noise outside ( you are right by the freeway). Speaking of noise.... I was in room 202 directly above the coffee shop and the JUKEBOX. I heard music loud and clear through the floor till 3am. Then I was awoken to the amorous activity of the couple in the room above me. Needless to say, I had a terrible sleep, and from the sounds of it, neither did they... at least they used their sleepness night to their advantage...I on the other hand, felt like I was in a brothel. lol
There was almost no hot water in my shower, and I had a chilly one. I agree with another reviewer, the lobby had a funky smell.

After 1 night ( I was supposed to be there for 3) I checked out. I stayed at the holiday inn at hollywood and highland. More money, but no suprises and it was comfortable.

My recommendation, find a better hotel than this.

    Date of stay January 2007

I stayed here during my great apartment hunt in LA and it was much better than anticipated. I loved the pics of old Hollywood stars in my room.

The only downside is that the room was VERY close to the freeway and I expected for the hotel to be a little closer to the main attractions.

Overall, you can't go wrong for $90 a night, believe me.

Gather round kids, has dad told you about the time he was a tour manager for a rock and roll band?  Well, humor me one more time.

Back when bands could afford to drive around the country to perform live concerts for their fans, they would need to find places to stay.  Somewhere in between crashing on floors and sleeping on a tour bus were the ones that stayed in hotels.  This was where my guys were at, and at one point we had a month long residency at Spaceland in Los Angeles, California, where they used to make all the movies when they still used real live actors.

So the guys were 86ed from the BWHH because of activities associated with drinking too much alcohol on a previous tour, but the staff decided to give us another chance.

The staff was remarkably friendly, helpful with cabs and directions, towels, and sometimes just pleasant conversation that was nice to have when you've been away from home for a while and are craving some normalcy.

Rooms are decent around the pool, and the ones in the front of the building are quite nice.  There are a couple of them where you could climb out your front window and sit above the first floor awning watching LA be LA.  Stay up late and probably bump into other rock and roll stars.

The touristy Hollywood is walking distance, Amoeba records alone could take up a couple of your days/paychecks.  Take mom to the theater with the handprints and spiderman impersonator.

Griffith Park & Observatory is just a hop and a skip up the street.  Bill and I climbed a tree at the top where Dean did his thing, split a fifth of Knappogue Castle Irish whiskey, taking in one of the most spectacular views anywhere, and watched hawks doin' it.

The cafe has pretty good food, nice jukebox, and fun for celebrity watching.   Sat next to the 'NSyncer that tried to be an astronaut, bumped into the Jackass guys, etc.  I think they filmed a famous scene there too... Pulp Fiction?  Swingers?  What was I talking about?  Oh well, fill up that robot butler with some more steak pellets and whiskey!

The only thing I'm upset about is that I paid more than other yelpers and I thought I was getting a decent deal for $110/night out the door.

I'd say this hotel is pretty solid. No super frills but meets all the basics. Clean, good location, reasonable priced.

Other benefits: huge bathrooms, double sinks if you're into that. Ipod clockradio. Cafe 101 downstairs.

Cafe 101 has great atmosphere. The food isn't out of this world but it's not bad. Diner stuff but with a clean feeling. And the staff is friendly and fun. It has a feel of a local place not just people from the hotel getting a bite to eat.

If you don't drive home too late you can usually park in one of the two small lots they have.

Walk to Hollywood. Have a Burning Mandarin or two at Katsuya, catch a movie at the ArcLight.

    I'll be back

Stayed here for Halloween, and I was surprised to see that it was located in a pretty hip area. The rooms were pretty spacious, clean, and did not have the musty smell that most cheap hotels have. The front desk staff was great and they even let us do a late check out at no extra charge.

Only blocks away from the clubs (Opera, LAX, etc), taxi ride only cost $5.

I also liked the cafe downstairs which was frequented by many drunk halloweeners. =)

Clean and large rooms.  For better Value, I'd stay at Days Inn on Sunset -- cheaper and closer to Hollywood Blvd.  This place isn't bad, though.  However, their valet staff sucks balls, especially the guys working at night.

This place is clean, friendly and efficient. The decor is awesome, so much memorabilia strewn about the walls. They had about ten Beatles records that I was plotting to take but unfortunately were bolted to the walls.

The bedroom was decorated with James Dean and Marilyn. It had a large bathroom with a sit down marble seat. Too bad it wasn't put to good use...

Also, they accommodate you like crazy. Five girls wanting something every five seconds could drive a front desk person batty, but they pulled through in 2 minutes flat.

The rate was fairly inexpensive. 100 bucks for the night with my AAA discount (did I just sound completely grandma right there?)

The diner attached to it is the 101 Diner and is open until 3am. I will be back and soon.

There are a lot things going for this hotel.

    1) Location - right off Hwy 101 and at Vine and Franklin in Hollywood;

    2) Fun movie memorabilia in the rooms.  I suspect it's all fastened down with Super Glue, but still fun to look at.  And no, I don't steal from hotel rooms.

    3)  Decent rates and good sized room for said rate.

    4) It's clean, but a bit worn, just enough to let you know there's been some hard partying here, but no so much that the place is trashed.

    I'll be back.

This place is pretty freakin cool for a mid-level hotel. Memorabilia ALL over the walls, nice clean room, all the amenities. Very large bathroom with lots of mirrors, good for 5 girls getting ready for a night on the town. Also, there is a seat in the large walk-in shower. Not that exciting for 5 girls, but maybe for a couple? Hey man I'm just sayin'.

A fridge and a microwave and a coffee maker. But honestly the most exciting part, and the reason why this is now my favorite hotel EVER- the room had a I-Pod dock alarm clock, GENIUS! Do you know how frustrating it is to carry I-Pod speakers everywhere you travel? All I had to do was plug my I-Pod in, turn up the volume, pop some bottles of champagne and we had a hotel party within 5 minutes, AWESOME.

For $94 a night, and a $5 cab ride to the Hollywood strip, can you really go wrong?

Also the 101 cafe downstairs has damn good breakfast for a cafe, the breakfast burrito hit the spot for a few of us with extreme hangovers.

I was completely unsatisfied.  The main reason my husband and I chose this hotel was because we wanted to bring our Maltese puppy with us and we were going to a show at Pantages Theatre.  So the 2 stars are for location, and allowing pets.  But other than that... I would NEVER go back.

Our room was NOT clean at all when we went in and there was zero water pressure in the shower.  Not to mention the fact that we had to struggle for about 10 minutes to get the water temp just right (it was either icy cold or burning hot).  Also, the elevator wasn't working and we had a carload of things to bring up to the room on the second floor.  We had to search and finally found one man to help us bring our belongings up to the room but I was forced to make 2 trips in my heels carrying heavy boxes.

On top of the less-than average experience, we paid an INSANE amount of money for one night in this dirty hotel room.  I do realize taht we paid extra for the dog but besides that, it was completely unreasonable.  I would absolutely not go back.

The room was roomy for 3 crazy gals just looking to get dolled up and hit the night life.  The bathroom also was roomy, i particularly loved the shower.  Definitely would go back! This hotel was walking distance from all the places we wanted to hit. So A+++++++

Me and wife stayed at this great hotel in the middle of Hollywood! This hotel is iconic in a sense, due to the many celebrities who have stayed here at one time or another. The proof is in all the autographed photos seen from the entrance to the check in lobby. The lobby and restaurant are very retro decorated, which was a very nice sight to see for once and the room did not disappoint. We stayed in a non smoking king size bed room. Very standard size room, with a sink, microwave, and fridge. The bathroom was perfect for amorous couples like my wife and I. All you need to know is that double shower with wide seat ... ya use your imagination to the fullest. :) This hotel provided easy access by car or walking distance to all the highlight spots of Hollywood. Will definitely book here again.

I was so surprised (in a good way) when I checked in and stayed at this hotel.  Not a total 5 star establishment but pretty surprisingly decent and cutely decorated.  Room was simple but clean and I loved the hallway decor and Hollywood glam pics everywhere.  The elevator takes FOR-EV-ER so if you're only on the 2nd floor, it's best to take the stairs.  The only thing that PISSED me off and why I'm rating 3 out of 5 starts is that when I picked up my car from valet in the AM, my headlights were on...making me to believe that they left them on the entire night and didn't notice when they brought my car to me.  GRRRRR.  Overall, not bad for the price I paid (via AAA) and would definitely stay again.

Okay everyone I just posted my 100th post! Yaaay!! I saved it for a good one and had to say that I was very pleased with this hotel!

Great little nostalgic, Hollywood place close to the Capitol Round building on the other side of the freeway!
We actually got it comped so the price was right! We have a good friend (or my friend has a good friend) from the Chamber who was very sweet to get this one comped when we just asked for some good recommendations near my daughter's place. So I can't say much about the price but ours was a deal! Ha.

Whatever you do... If you have Verizon, DON'T use the GPS to find this place! It will send you to the Hollywood Hills! I was ready to pinch that little gal's head off as she continues to reroute my dang route! By the time we were on top of Hollywood in the hills overlooking where we were supposed to be, she announces "You have arrived at your destination." Huh? Ya think?  I guess you are asking what part of one way street, tiny lane, residential area, far away from my daughter's apartment finally gave me a clue we were going the wrong way? Grrr!

Apparently when we finally called the Hotel, the front desk told us that many people were being led on a wild goose chase by Verizon's little lady!! We could have actually just followed directions to my daughter's place (which I already knew how to get to!) and walked down the street... but who knew! When we asked for a hotel close by, they actually came through big time!
I was worried about parking due to another review but found actually  3 PARKING LOTS. An upstairs, downstairs and one out back. So that was a piece of cake.BIG deal in LA where there is NO parking!! We could walk to my daughter's place in 2 minutes so it was perfect! I love the Chamber!

The rooms were great. The hallways were all lined with movie star photos and snapped me right back to the forties +

The room was great! A little kitchenette with a little fridge, and microwave. The room was huge! The bathroom was too. The last place I stayed, there was no counter space and this place had plenty!

The shower looked like it was going to be a treat but only trickled out water which was enough to wash my hair and take a shower with but was a little disappointing for the appearance!

Our room was right on the freeway side. Which sorry but for the price I couldn't complain!! But my friend couldn't sleep even though I took the bed closest to the window. I have always thrived on lots going on. The buzz of life happening outside does not bother me. But take a note if you don't.... ask for a room on the opposite side of the building, away from the freeway!

My only suggestion would be to communicate with the maintenance people. And tell them to back away from the elevator. It seemed like everytime we stepped out of the elevator, there was housekeeping waiting there with a bucket or something in front of the door! We had to wait for them to back up each time before getting out. It became almost expected to have them standing there when the doors opened! The thing was... they all had such sweet smiles on their faces.... Even that was not annoying.

I visit often and can tell you now, that I will definitely use this hotel again! I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this hotel!

The diner downstairs is also fun to have right on the premises and is open at all hours you would ever need it in case of hunger! :)  No need for room service when you can slip on your slippers and pad on down to what sounded like a happening place after midnight!!
I will go review that one now!

I'm leaving a 1 star review because they over charged us twice.  At first, when I looked at the bill there was a bogus $5 charge that when I enquired about, they removed.  They were slimy enough to try and use the excuse that I agreed to pay for that charge when I signed the form for staying at the hotel.  I explained that I initially agreed to the room rate when I made the reservation and slipping in extra charges in a preprinted form is bad business.

Then when I checked my Visa statement after the trip it went from $215 to $250.  So now I have to deal with that.  We certainly didn't break anything or trash the place.  I have no idea what their justification is for the extra charge but I'll find out.

Admittedly, this is a very nice hotel for the price.  The room was very clean.  It had all the amenities you could want and other than the additional $35 in charges, it's a great place.  It was really close to the Griffith Observatory and La Brea Tar Pits, which is why we stayed there.

I highly recommend the Thai restaurant across the street (West?).

~ Walking distance to Hollywood walk of fame and a shit-ton of other things that are open until 3 in the morning for whatever reason.
    ~ Nice rooms.
    ~ Beds were comfy.
~ Free coffee in our rooms in the morning (But no creamer...)
    ~ Restaurant on site.

~ Their "free parking" meant they had 25-30 spots which were all taken, so we had to drive around a few times and find some on the street.
~ The hallways were not air conditioned, so it was dreadful walking to our room
~ The step in the shower meant for handicapped guests sticks out quite far, so if you are standing, you have to press yourself against the stair in order for the water to reach your head. Not too awful, but worth mentioning.

So, overall this place was "A-OK." I wish we had hung around a bit longer so I could have tried the restaurant and splashed around in the pool, but oh well!

I also thought it was funny how their review cards in the rooms had a question regarding continental breakfast, but when I went down and asked the front desk person, he said there was not one. We came to the conclusion that they used the same opinion cards for all Best Westerns, but it was still ironic that they did not get this question removed for theirs as to not confuse the guests.

Was visiting the LA area for the first time and picked this hotel based on reviews and price.  Location was pretty good I guess, although everything in LA seems to require you sitting in traffic for at least an hour.  Anyway, the room was decorated with bold colors and interesting movie posters, and could see the Hollywood sign from our window.  Overall pretty cool.  Free WiFi.  Dual sinks in the bathroom were nice, although the shower window didn't completely close. It is an old building with updated look.  Guy at the front desk gave a good recommendation for a place to grab a late drink, but was otherwise indifferent.  I wasn't a big fan of the valet parking process, only because it was just one more step in getting to your car, asking for your keys, etc. and it didn't save any time.  Ice machines aren't on every floor.  Like most hotels in the area, there is no breakfast or anything, but the cafe attached to the building was pretty great.

Kind of funny - when I first took my hubby here he took a look at the exterior and then gave me a look like I was on crack. Once we checked in and he saw the cute courtyard and how nice the rooms were he totally relaxed and admitted that this is a pretty decent place to stay for a short term LA visit.

We go to lots of concerts - this time we were going to the Avalon, which was within walking distance. Also Hollywood Blvd. is just a few minutes walk as well.

After our show (Louis XIV - awesome!!!) we ate at the hotel's diner. Great food! Old school but retro cool. The parking seems safe and honestly we've never had a problem - stayed here three times now. The entrance/exit is a little tricky but close to the 101 entrance/exit.

The room itself is well laid out. By chance we got a corner room - apparently they have the big plasma TVs and the room is larger than usual. Request this one is possible. If you stay at the back of the hotel, chances are you'll even have a view of the Hollywood sign!

I recently stayed at this hotel for eight consecutive days.

The pros: Excellent location for downtown hollywood(six minute walk), the rooms were spacious, a decent diner downstairs open until 3 am, friendly maids, appearance of the room and bathroom looked nice.

The cons: Staff was friendly at best, I didn't feel like they would go out of there way to really help me enjoy my stay. The room could have been cleaner, the nightstand was covered in dust and the room had a chemical stench upon arrival. also the mat on top of the toilet was covered with long black hairs from a previous guest. The a/c heater unit was outdated and full of dust that filled the too when turn on; also the knobs on this unit were practically broken. The noise level was a bit loud in the mornings due to  the cleaning carts rolling on the tile floor, and a dog barking at 7 30 every morning from downstairs. also the way the hotel is built (courtyard style) causes a lot of echoing noises, which is obnoxious when people take their cell phone calls outside your door in the morning or at night. the television was of quality brand, but it was sort of stacked on top of a non flat screen tv center, blocking the framed art behind it. The resolution received in the rooms was a fuzzy 480, and some channels, like mtg, were too fuzzy to even watch. the bathroom was remodeled to look very nice but lacked some functional items. The problems with the bathroom were that there was no fan or openable window to vent air; which caused the whole room to become sauna like. The shower had to heads in it but one was inoperable because you could see a screw was blocking he handle from being able to turn it on, also the water pressure was really low. there is no balcony as described by the website and the elevator has an expired inspection card. Parking was 15 dollars for guests and 3 dollars for diner patrons, which was a little absurd, and the valet attendant rudely walked away from my friend giving me  a ride when we were trying to ask him a question.

Overall: not worth the price, I was pretty unimpressed. Next time I will stay further from hollywood and catch a taxi if I need to be in this area; or simply book a room somewhere else.

Stayed here with a friend from Australia the night before she went back to the airport, and I have to say- everything was perfect!!! From the super nice, incredibly friendly front desk staff to the amazingly helpful valet, I honestly didn't expect the hotel to be this nice. The bathroom was gorgeous, just like the photos online, and the beds were super comfy. We kept the window opened because the weather was so nice, and the free wifi was just icing on the cake. Breakfast at the diner downstairs was delicious- you have got to have the OJ! Plus, they let us leave the car at no additional charge while we walked around Hollywood Blvd. for a few hours after we checked out. All in all- we had an amazing stay, and I would recommend it to anyone.

Not the best hotel I have stayed in but it's a good hotel with really good rates and good location. So for that alone it gets two stars. They also have a diner that is open till 3am. Didn't try the food though.

    Service: Friendly, professional and efficient.

Room: Clean, it's decorated with pictures of Hollywood stars. Big TV with decent channels. Has a microwave, refrigerator, iron necessity, hair blower and basic toiletries. Well lit and ventilated. The curtain kept the sunlight out.

Bed: I loved the bed, it was very comfortable. It had the right firmness. There were two full beds in the room. The pillows were fluffy and the blanket was clean and thick enough. I slept so well!

Toilet: Large with two shower heads on each end of the bathroom. Two people can shower at the same time. One sink but lots of counter space. The towels are scratchy but useable. Water pressure was good. ** FYI- water can get hot quickly!**

Location: It's a about fifteen minutes away from the Hollywood walk of fame and the Pantages theatre!!

=( door closes hard, I could hear other guests enter or exit. Other than that it was pretty quiet.

I will definitely go back to this hotel.  It's no resort of 5 star hotel but it's a good place to crash at!

this hotel was a mixed bag.

i went with a friend and we stayed 2 nights. our room was clean and spacious with a nice large bathroom and lots of hollywood decor in the rooms, hallways and lobby. the 101 diner was convenient and tasty (for the most part) too. this was actually the nicest best western i've ever stayed in.

but there were some downsides: our upstairs neighbors were LOUD and woke us up way earlier than we wanted to be woken up. we complained to the front desk, but nothing changed. same thing happened the next night, so we called the front desk again and they said those people had checked out but they'd tell these people to be quiet, but they never were. so, either the front desk didn't tell them, or they need to find a way to better insulate the walls? because i shouldn't have to hear ANYTHING In a hotel. also the wireless went out on the last night there and i couldn't connect to the internet.

another downside: there is a $15 fee per day to have valet parking there. i'd rather have free parking or park on the street, but was given no choice.

i may stay here again-it's a great location and all, but i have reservations about the noise and added fees.

    Not bad at all!

At first I was a lil embarrassed to choose this place since I usually stay at nicer hotels but u was just looking for a place to crash and to puke in.

Location is pretty good.  You know, across the nicer castle looking hotels.  I wouldn't recommend to walk around here though; looks a little sketchy.

The parking here is really confusing.  Valet is $15 charged to your bill already. -.- bummer.... We just went in and park but we found out later that it was the valet garage.  They really need to put up signs or block it off.  Way too confusing.  Plus they don't really know how to be cautious about the customers cars.

Front desk was fine. Accommodating.  We stayed in the newly renovated building which I was happy about since I saw the older building and it looked really run down.  There's only one elevator here which was a real bitch to deal with especially since it was small and it had a suffocating smell to it.

Hotel was widely decorated with celebrity pictures and autographs which I thought was super cute.  Love the old Hollywood glamour.  Halls are very narrow though.

Room:  Better than I expected.  Seriously.  Especially for the price of $169 yeah.  Room had a fridge, big bathroom, and the beds were decent.

I would definitely choose this place again.  Decent price.  Decent room.  Close enough to the Hollywood life.  my only complaint is valet.

Ive been to a few Best Westerns in my time and this one totally surprised me.
I have never had an issue with them, but this one seemed so hip and inviting with all the pictures of the old Hollywood stars everywhere.
The rooms were damn clean, smelt good, beds were comfortable.

A bunch of friends and I all came up for a show at the Palladium, which was in walking distance. The next morning I enjoyed a good breakfast in the restaurant attached to the building.

On the way home I noticed most of my friends had mentioned that they wanted to stay there again in the future.

As far as cheep hotels go, this one was pretty nice!

Cheap and cheerful, this is a hip hotel with a great location. The cinderblock is painted bright yellow and blue and the rooms are decorated with portraits of Hollywood stars. Now that they've renovated the hotel they are charging for parking--$15.

The rooms are a decent size, clean, with comfy beds. Major plus--the rooms didn't smell like cleaning products like most cheap hotels do.

When you're clubbing in Hollywood, don't drink and drive--stay here.

They are renovating the lobby right now--but things should be finished by April 2011. They're adding a bar/lounge, which is exactly what this hotel needs.

Downstairs is the perfect afterhours hipster coffee shop--101 Coffee Shop. Don't miss the opportunity for a late-night milkshake here. The booth next to you is likely to contain some "almost famous" band.

Independently owned-not your average BW. Great stay. Awesome lobby -modern/retro styled hotel. In walking distance to Pantages Theater and a few bars and stuff. There's an outdoor pool. Colorful exterior around the pool. Valet parking-super nice and quick. Good restaurant inside the hotel-retro-ish diner. Very reasonable and convenient location. They're also pet friendly! Will be back.

You get what you paid for. I definitely like the style of this "hotel". Although things are a little run-down, they function ok. I stayed here on different occasions, the first time, there were 10 mins of hot water in the morning, later i found out that they were fixing their water heater. Second time stay, I had the corner room, very very very noisy at night!!!

but it's cute and comfy for the location and the price.

Nicely re-done room in the main building, but a few of the amenities were to be desired.  The TV was a nice size but did not show HD so the picture was fuzzy.  The water regulator in the shower did not work well so it was a cool shower.  Due to the traffic on Franklin and 101 the road noise on the street side was noticeable but the real noise came from the restaurant below my 2nd floor room. Suggestion: get a higher room in the main hotel, on the back side and your stay will be great!
The 101 Cafe was very handy and the the location of this hotel wrt to HW was also great!
I would stay here again if in the area.  Staff friendly, rooms clean, location great and rates acceptable.

Alright, I came here on a good week I guess.  I only paid $115 for the room plus parking I paid around $140 I think.  The price is super good for staying in the hollywood area and the hotel was nice.

When I saw the hotel outside, it was not that impressing. However, once I entered the lobby, I was like Hey this is not an old hotel.  When I got to my room, okay it's decent.  I really enjoyed my stay because it's only ten minutes walk from the hollywood strip!! Yay.  The room is clean, and everything was very neat.  I really wanna go back for another stay but guess what!!! Ever since that time, the rate has gone up like racket up to $250 a night! Come on, give me a discount?!!

Well, I totally recommend this hotel ~~~~~

My fiance found this hotel because it was walking distance to the Pantages Theatre.  When I think of a Best Western, I don't think of anything too interesting, but this was one heck of an interesting place.  The lobby was filled with autographed celebrity photos, and so was our room!  I am not sure if they were all real, but it looked pretty awesome.  Everything had that mid-century old school Hollywood feel to it.  It was really cool, and a bit tacky in a fun way.  For example, there was a Braveheart poster and saber above our bed, and framed, autographed Lindsay Lohan photos on the side of the bed.  My favorite part was the old school pool courtyard which was filled with pastel yellow and blue painted walls.  The courtyard has an open top, but really feels enclosed.  It feels completely retro, and I wish we had been there sometime when was could have laid out at the pool.  It made me want to put an a Marilyn Monroe-stye one-piece, and take lots of photos!
Anyway, the staff was really friendly and told us stories about the late-night diner that caters to at least a couple of celebrities each day and has been featured in many films...including Sex and the City, one of my personal favorites!  Well, they may have been exaggerating, but it has a very typical 50's diner look so I believed them.
The rooms are spacious, as are the bathrooms. There was a very large shower in the bathroom, but unfortunately no tub.  However there is a large flat screen in the bathroom....which seemed slightly out of place.
There are a couple of things I did not care for. First, we were in a hurry to check in and could not easily tell where to go for parking and to enter the lobby, as it is not clearly marked.  Also, there was a bathroom window open that we did not see, so we woke up freezing in the middle of the night.
For $116 per night, a pretty cool place altogether!

This place has it all for me and my travel preferences:

    Great location.
    Super nice staff.
Under-used pool (so I took full advantage of that puppy!  There's an actual DEEP END)
    ipod docks in the room.
    Kitchenettes in the room.
    Free Wifi
Bodgeas, Groccery stores, cafes all super close/walking distance.

To boot, the diner attached to it is perfect for "come to me" meetings.  I'll most likely stay here moving forward on all LA trips!

For a hotel, you would think they would schedule their deliveries of linens, food, beverages, and trash collection for AFTER 6AM.

It's completely ridiculous that a business that sells "a place to sleep" has all of its deliveries interrupt its guests sleep.

Great location, adjacent to a great diner, wifi and a pool - what more can you ask for in the Hollywood Hills for under $200 per night?

The staff is non-plussed to help out, but they get the job done.

My room was clean, bathroom had plenty of counter space. Parking was only $15/night, a steal by SF prices. And I was able to utilize the pool for an hour or so the next day. Granted, it's a very tiny pool (only about 6 lounge chairs), so weekend sunbathing might prove a tad more difficult. Just get there early and claim a spot before it gets too crowded.

Bright, cheerful decor makes you feel a little better about staying in a Best Western.

First off it was mine and husband's Anniversary booked this room online after I called the reservations line befire I made a reservation,  I asked are all the rooms remodeled? Brief wait supposedly after a rep called and asked. Says yes all the rooms are as of 2008. Well what do you know. The room I was in 202 was not remodeled. Here's the best part they have a Cafe downstairs and not owned by best western, and it's directly under room 202 they have a jukebox that's blasting music. So after a long day driving 5 hours and going to the Pier and going out to eat we go to take showers and crash. Well the music was so loud it gave me a headache. I called front desk and the older guy says not much and after asking many questions he comes forth with Oh it's from the Cafe, I ask can you please ask them to turn it down. Not once twice, then I call the Cafe 101 and ask to speak to a manager and Chris tells me that he will turn the volume button but after each time it goes back higher. Well thats a lie, you can adjust volume to whatever you would like. So loud music continued till  2:37 am . Well I have no excedrine to get rid of my massive headache. Morning comes I over sleep and I miss my plans that were at 10. I was extremely tired and my husband talked to Brian a hotel manager and he said well what can I do for you? My husband says how about some compensation for the bad hotel stay. He said well how about half off you hotel room. The room rate was 101.00 I guess the guy don't know subtraction, he refunded 42.00. What a joke I payed total 138.00 I wouldn't recommend staying at Best Western. The front desk people don't care and proved it. Asked them 4 times and they did nothing.

Wifi was on and off and window pointed to the middle of the loading alley There is 2 motels one that is surrounding the pool and another that faces Franklin street.. Divided by a small alley, velet parking coat $15 per day but worth it...overall great hotel

You truly do get what you pay for. We came up to LA to see "The Book of Mormon." Not wanting to shell out $400 for a V-day weekend hotel room, we hoped this would be a decent alternative. The room itself was fine and the location is good for sight seeing on foot. However, we endured our upstairs neighbors stomping around all night, as well as a lovers' quarrel outside our window at 2:00 am. Icing on the cake, I forgot a dress and brand-new blazer in the closet. When I called back to inquire about it (surprise, surprise) no one had turned anything in after cleaning our room. Save yourself the trouble and loosen the purse strings rather than chance it here for a deal.

I didn't expect the best western to be like this, but it was a great room to stay for New Years Eve.

The staff stole our friends' cellphone. We left the room to checkout. Within 5 minutes they realized they forgot the phone charging in the room. When they went back to the room (still within 5 minutes), the phone was GONE. We searched, it was gone. We complained to front desk who also help seach again, but it wasn't there and the didn't offer any other assistance.

Upon using the Find My Phone app, a few hours later... the phone was turned on in Compton.

Please keep an eye on all your valuables at this hotel! The hotel is clean and seemed safe and we had no other problems, but the staff cannot be trusted!

We enjoyed our stay here. Its a good location. 5 mins walk to the walk of fame and Hollywood boulevard and an easy drive to just about all the other places you could want to visit. The hotel itself is clean staff are friendly and the food wasn't a vast choice but what they did serve I couldn't fault. And again service was excellent to nice room with no noises and a pool in the middle of the building very Hollywood with pictures if the stars all signed etc etc. all. In the big question people ask is would you stay there again which is the acid test.  Well yes. Definitely Hollywood is a wonderful place to visit. Also.

Don't stay here unless you want to not have any sleep.. I could literally hear the music coming from their cafe... Yeah and no amount of calls to the management would get them to turn it down; despite their repeated promises to. DO NOT STAY IN ROOM 202!!!

I give this hotel 3 stars because of it's cleanliness, location, and size of the actual room.

Everything was going great until we got back up our room around 12 AM. The music from the cafe downstairs is blaring so it definitely kept me up until they closed right around 3 AM.

They should at least have let us know about it. The hotel wasn't full so I'm sure they could have put us somewhere else.

I would go back but I'll definitely request a room on a different floor.

Great place to stay! The room was a good size, beds were comfortable,  everything was CLEAN, valet was nice and easy, staff was nice and check in/ check out was a breeze.
It's an older hotel that was nicely re-done. I am  usually paranoid about sleeping in hotel beds, walking barefoot on their carpets and showering without flip flops. But I had no problems with any of it at this hotel :) There is also a little pool that look clean and inviting,  that we didn't have a chance to use. We will definitely be back to visit!

If I could give this place 6 stars I would. Where do I even begin? Or first experience was with the valet. I wish I got his name but we were there may 19-20. He was so nice and helpful. He even remembered who we were and what car we drove the next day. There was another gentlemen that looked like he could have been management that helped us and was just as nice. They insisted on taking our cart full of stuff out for us and even put our things into the car for us. These people don't have to be so on it. I know there are plenty of hotels that just do the Bare minimum. They went above and beyond. The front desk people were wonderful. They were helpful from start to finish. Even letting us leave our luggage cart in the lobby so we could eat breakfast. Being the clumsy one, I spilled my water in the lobby (of course) and they got a towel insisting to clean it. I wanted to clean it up myself and he would have no part in it. The rooms are clean and have everything you need. The elevators are small but it adds to the charm. Speaking of charm this place is decked out in old time Hollywood decor. This has become a loved place to visit along with the amazing 101 diner. We will be back! Thank you!!

I stayed in a  2 queen room and there was still plenty of walking space. There is a little kitchen with a refrigerator and microwave. stayed at this Best Western since i was attending a wedding in the area. i ended up paying about $175 just for the room itself (it was the MLK holiday weekend) and another $20 for valet parking and for that price, i just thought it was way more than i should have had to pay here. you can decorate and use cool decor, but at the end of the day this is still a best western haha.

we were easily accommodated with a 'higher floor' request so we were on the 4th and top floor haha. the room was spacious enough and i liked that there was a mini-fridge, microwave, and coffee maker in the room. if i were staying here for more than just 1 night, then i would have definitely thought these amenities very helpful but i had no need for them for my quick stay. another plus is free wi-fi and it was pretty good wi-fi at that...but no central a/c.  it was a very loud wall unit that i guess drowned out the street noise so i guess that was a plus? haha

anywho convenient location right off the 101 and near all the hollywood tourist stuff and it worked out that it was only a mile away from the wedding venue we attended. the front desk staff and valet parking staff was really nice and friendly as well. for a one night stay, this hotel was just fine, but i just wish the price point was a bit lower.

We stayed here for a weekend getaway to see a show at the Hollywood Pantages. The place is definitely Hollywood - in the kitschiest way possible. Every inch of wall space is covered in "signed" photos and collages, which is fine, just not as interesting when you've been to a couple of places that are decorated that way. Maybe it's because I'm from California and there are tons of places that have tons of singed photos everywhere, but I'm just not impressed by faux collectibles - I could have done for some more eclectic decor.

What I did love was the room layout. The bathroom had a double sink which was great for the wife and I, and the fixtures were recently installed and functioning well. The bed was really comfortable, and we were really happy with the room.

We didn't use the pool, but it looked really nice out the window. One of the best parts was how close it was to the main drag of Hollywood. We were able to walk to the Pantages in about 5 minutes, and we took a Lyft car back for about 8 bucks. The valet parking was easy to deal with and affordable.

    We would definitely come back!

The room (119) was spacious and the bed ... well ... how to say that ... ENORMOUS. We got one king size bed per person and they are really comfortable.

I remove one star for the noise. Our room got a view on the motorway, and the endows was not really what I call a noise "concelator". But it's ok :)
