This is the dirtiest hotel I've ever stayed in. We had reservations for
8 nights, but we checked out after the 1st night. There were water
stains on the ceiling and around the door. The wallpaper was stained
and peeling, especially around the door and under the sink. The carpet was dark green and I could see stains on it!  I kept my shoes by the bed so that I wouldn't have to touch the carpet with my bare feet (I don't ever do that at hotels). There were stains and drip marks of various colors and textures on the bathroom walls and door.  The worst thing was that every time the guest in the room above us flushed the toilet, our room smelled like raw sewage. Needless to say, this, combined with the water stain in the ceiling near the bathroom, was exceedingly gross!  I barely slept and didn't take a shower in the morning.   DO NOT STAY HERE!  This hotel also misrepresents itself as being close to Old Town Pasadena.  It is NOT close to Pasadena.  It is not really that far, but there are many other hotels that are closer - and cleaner.  This hotel is NOT close to Santa Monica, as a reviewer stated.  Santa Monica is at least a 1 hour drive away.  It is close enough to Universal Studios, but that is also at least a 1/2 hour drive.  It is close to the Rose Bowl, but so is any hotel in Pasadena.  It is at least a 45 minute drive to the Santa Anita Race Track, Dodger Stadium, Hollywood, Los Angeles Convetion Center, Greek Theater, and China Town.  I'd stay in Pasadena, downtown LA, Glendale, or W. Los Angeles, before I stayed here.  Those locations are equally close/far to these attractions.  This hotel is also in a bad part of town - gangs, etc. - and on a noisy, busy roadway.   This hotel is inexpensive, but it is NOT worth it.

Nice clean place, if you want something for around 75 bucks and don't want to wonder what your sleeping in then this is a good spot. Conveniently close to the 2 freeway it is a great place with easy parking access.

Interesting place.  If you like hearing people walking to their rooms, children running, people speaking loudly, and feel like you need to take a few showers before you get to the hotel, you've come to the right place.

Stayed here the last two times I was in town, and both visit had a good time.  This is your average hotel, so don't expect anything fancy.  However, to my surprise, last time I got a room with a plasma TV, so that was a plus.  They also offer free WIFI and printer, which was convenient for me to print my boarding pass.  Will stay here again.

I came here again on business.  I stand by what I wrote before.  I'll add the following:

Down the street about 1 block away:

- Starbucks right down the street, with PLENTY of seating  There is an outdoor and indoor area with plenty of people surfing the web and playing "board games" while having coffee.

- Walgreens, basic necessities if you're missing something.

- Quizno's and Jamba Juice (I think most everybody knows these places).

- Within driving distance (2-3 block, Macys and Target (?)....it's close to the freeway and my memory is fading).  Other food places that looked tempting if I had time to investigate.

Continental Breakfast was still there and I enjoyed it before leaving 30 min after opening - TV was on to watch news and traffic for the surrouding area.  Cigar shop across the street and a little Burrito Truck stops out front of the motel at about 10PM.  Good burrito (and I've been to a few places and trucks that have Burritos and Tacos). Internet Connection still good.

I will be staying here again.

In this simple neighborhood of Eagle Rock, L.A.
This is a great place to crash into for a homey experience, when you are away from home!

After Six plus hours of traveling from S.F. it is really nice to have couple friendly smiles and get you into your room in no time.

The set up of the bed is SO comfy and and it IS amazing!!
The room is spacious, and well arranged.

The bathroom is a little "economy" but the dressing area with the functional counter top is great.

Will definitely check into this cuddly place, when I visit Eagle Rock next time. It is a great get-away destination .........  if you happen to visit Eagle Rock.

A pretty low quality hotel for sure. Very outdated decor, room had a funny smell, things were not very clean in the room. I had a funky room that was huge, but also had a window that looked on to a brick wall. The staff however was very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was decent mostly because I had a very tasty, very fresh doughnut.

One side note, there are actually 2 listings for this hotel on Yelp, one is one West Colorado Blvd. They are the same. The front desk person explained that you need to put "Colorado Blvd" (not "West Colorado Blvd" in to your GPS system to find the place.

I travel for work to LA on my own dime once a month for 5 days in one week. I rack up about two months overall in town per year.
I heartly recommend the Comfort Inn if you want a well-priced, clean, pleasant room with excellent staff.
First off the staff and attention is what keeps me coming back. If there is an issue with the room I tell them and it is fixed, changed or whatever is needed as soon as possible. The front desk staff are really lovely and attentive and will make sure you are cared for. The cleaning ladies are great too and I have never had any issues with the room on this front even though I am a bit of a stickler!

Secondly, location. It is right next to Starbucks, Walgreens and numerous shops and restaurants for any budget and the upmarket Americana shopping area is only a 8-10 minute drive. I use the bus a lot too and there are good connections for Glendale and Pasadena just down the road passed Starbucks.

Price is also very good. When you look around the neighborhood it isn't easy to find a place of this standard for such a
good price. I advise booking online in advance to be safe it gets popular, especially on weekends. Also note they take the first night from card when you book but not the rest until you check in...make sure your cards are fully charged! I stay in a second floor king room and it is generally $89 before tax per night. The rooms have good wifi (passcode free for the stay from reception - more than can be said about some other chains!). There is a good sized mini-bar, microwave and coffee maker on hand and they have a water fountain and coffee all day in reception. In reception they also have a computer and printer in case you need last minute printing (charge for printing though). Also includes a good breakfast selection (waffles, eggs, sausages, breads, juices, coffee, yogurts etc.).

From the airport take Super Shuttle of you don't have a car, they know what they are doing compared to competitors at LAX. Pre-booking saves some hassle (yes, they have an app for that) but do expect to wait a little for the van to turn up.

So anything that I am not so keen on? I don't watch TV so can't comment on that. Bed was fine. Pillows a bit small and under-filled for my tastes (picky, picky). Can be bit noisy depending on neighbors but name a hotel that doesn't get that. They are also airing their rooms a lot more now which is good. Oh and they provide soap, shampoo and lotion in case you wondered and have emergency items at front desk in case you forgot something.

Definitely a place to stay!

Okay, so I stayed here because this place has good reviews for the price. However, this place was far from nice.

The bed WAS very comfortable.
The breakfast was stocked and okay(the juice machine was just colored water).
The staff was decent, but no where near extremely friendly and helpful.

The parking spots are ridiculously tiny(I drive a small Kia SUV and couldn't fit in one spot).
The furniture was clearly outdated(all or our drawers had different nobs, or were missing nobs altogether)
The room was only somewhat clean(the nightstands had a thick layer of dust on the bottom shelf and the bathroom floor had 4 pubic hair strands on it... Bleeeh)
The bathroom was half in our room and half in its own bathroom.
The shower didn't drain.
The "new" flat screen television in our room only worked 2/3 of the time.
The room we were put in was right on the street and the windows were no where near sound proof, so you could hear the cars speeding by(including the ambulance/fire truck at 5am)all night.
I was in a non-smoking room(pregnant) yet the room still stunk of smoke. Just to fine about 25 cigarette butts of the floor outside of my room the next morning.
And the thing that pissed me off the most, some jack ass was literally slamming the door to his room next to our room, and making our room shake, all night and all morning. The staff did nothing about it.

This hotel is worth paying $40 a night, not $100. I stayed on a Wednesday night and the rate was almost $100 for the night after taxes. Thankfully they have me 50% off after complaining, but I don't want someone else to make this mistake.

We stayed there two nights over the Easter weekend.  The room we had was large (2 Full & pull-out couch) for $125 a night.  The room was fairly clean, the towels were somewhat new but the hotel could use some updating.  The bathroom was small. Room had a fridge and microwave.   Free breakfast but the hours are 6-9am even on weekends.  While checking out, they tried to charge me a SAFE & WARRANTY fee of $1.35 for each night. When I refuted the charges, they were removed from my bill.  Not sure this is legal.    For the money, the room was overpriced.

Most likely we will not stay there again.

Great location!  Great value for the price!  Very convenient!  I only live about 32 miles away...but was in town for a wedding...didn't want to drive back and forth between decorating and attending the wedding reception, so we stayed here.  This was soooo convenient.  Room was clean and large enough for all 5 of us..2 beds and a pull out sofa bed.  Breakfast was included the next morning.  Highly recommend.

I'm giving this hotel a solid 3 star.

Decent price, ok parking, bed was considerably comfortable (we were pleasantly surprised), shower was decent. It was a typical older hotel - crappy carpet and older furnishings, but we really didn't spend much time in the room, so it didn't matter.

We didn't try the free breakfast, so I can't give a review on that.

I would return if we needed a hotel in this area at this price point. It sure beats some real DIVES that we've accidentally picked in the Southern California area.

I don't know about the nonsense se of the other reviews mentioned. Perhaps it was a different Comfort Inn. I stayed at the one on Colorado Blvd near Old Town Pasadena. I booked this room because I heard they have a discount if you mention that you are taking your exam for you cosmetologist/barber license, it is near the state board facility. On the website the rate was 96/night, upon calling and mentioning my exam, they knocked it down to $69. I wasn't expecting much, so I was pleasantly surprised. Another review mentioned being unable to park her Kia SUV. My mother drives a Kia Soul, parked it right in front of our room, no problem. The room was not only spotless, but the furnishings, beds, bedding, and flat screen TV (which appeared brand new) worked just fine as did the wi-fi. Someone also mentioned outdated rooms? Only if you request one of their very few smoking rooms. If you smoke (we do), go outside. No place of lodging is going to give you brand new anything to ruin with smoke, that's why you can't have nice things. It was fairly quiet, especially after ten, because its mostly just restaurants and the like on that part of the street. There were decent options for the FREE breakfast, it was definitely better than your typical continental breakfast. Staff was accommodating, pool was extremely clean
I read a mention of the bathroom being half in the room (took me a second). Like most motels, there is a sink/vanity alcove type thing, and then a door leading into a.private toilet/shower. Most of the complaints I've read here seem to be from people who would complain about free money because the bills weren't crisp enough. This was a clean, comfortable place to stay, I would totally stay again. For the whiners, go pay $250/night at the Courtyard Marriott. One more thing: Do you like apples? I passed my exam the next day. How do you like them apples? :)

Front desk is generally nice. The housekeeping is sub-par. I had checked in a room with two beds and I have intentionally placed a tip on the clean bed and when I have come back, the tip was still there. Bed sheets had hairs - a lot of them. When I have taken them off, I found what resembles the white stuff from a male human. I won't get into any more details. Wifi is a hit and miss. If there are enough people on the premise, you will get just a bit over the phone line speed. It brings all the fun and nostalgia of AOL service over the phone line. They have a free breakfast. They even wash apples with their stickers on. they won't come off unless you get a small plastic knife and peel off the whole thing. Walls are not insulated properly so you can sometimes hear what your neighbors are doing, especially if anyone makes neighing, high-pitched, half-screaming sound at night. TV has HBO and other local channels. TV remotes that I got was very sticky. Some bath towels are questionable as to if they were really cleaned or just dried up and merely placed on the rack. Coffee pots are simply dirty. Unless you want to get sick and sue the hotel, I would stay away from their pots. Other than the cheap price, I would not come here.

I really liked this hotel. It wasn't fancy so don't expect it to be. But it was a great deal for the price.

The bed and pillows were comfortable. The room was clean and there was plenty of room for me and my friend.

The breakfast is free and had a lot of options.

The location was good, the neighborhood felt safe and we always felt comfortable coming and going at night.

The only reason it isn't getting five stars is because I asked for two double beds instead of a king and they told me they had to charge me 10 dollars more a night which seems ridiculous to me.

I would definitely stay here again.

Really dissapointed with our stay here. The room was adequate other than immediate plumbing issues and hairs on our "clean" towels. Unfortunately the staff treats smokers like second class citizens. While I get that people dont want to smell smoke, hitting up the parking lot is far enough in my opinion its not like this is a classy hotel. They gave us a few "friendly reminders" that we need to go out to the street to smoke. Really? Also I didnt know there would be a creepy connecting door to the next room. Got to hear people yelling in another language all night long and things slamming around. Checked in healthy and left two days later with the flu, can't say where I got it but if the bed was as clean as our towels I'd say thats a clue.

Stayed at the Comfort Inn last week. I was pleasantly surprised by this venue. The rooms are standard, but nice and clean. Towels are thin and kind scratchy. But your room comes with a mini fridge and other nice amenities.

One thing I liked was there was a notecard at the sink that said (and I'm paraphrasing), "Oops! Forget something? Please let us know if you forgot a toiletry and we will happily replace it." I thought it was a nice gesture because you invariably forget something.

Lastly, they offer a continental breakfast. I know, I know--when you think of continental breakfasts you don't necessarily envision something great. We've all had that ONE experience. Anyway, I was expecting something similar but boy was our wrong. They offered hot eggs, and hash browns. Bread for toast, bagels, donuts and pastures. Fresh fruit, yogurt, and cereal. Coffee and Oj. Now I'm not saying this is the best quality breakfast I've ever had--simply Saying that it was better than expected. One thing to keep in mind is that you need a key card to enter, it's served only during "breakfast" hours, and food CANNOT be taken to go. There are tables to eat inside the "kitchen" and that's where you can grub. They regularly come into to monitor and keep the place clean.

Solid experience overall.

What a great place to stay in this area.
Lots of safe, free parking, the pool is very well maintained, and the breakfast was free and tasty, with lots of choice.
Staff is helpful and knows the area, and the room I was was perfectly clean.
For a little more than $100 a night, this place is very, very good.

In 100% full disclosure I will readily admit   I am a "Hotel Snob"

Not mean or snooty, just learned the ropes & know what to ask for & look for.

Being on tour in 2008 and spending 250+ nights on the road in 40 states, you learn a lot!

Especially to ask questions about what you see on a hotels website -webpage .
As photographs & actual accommodations can sometimes be miles apart.

So after looking, searching, reading yelp reviews, I felt fairly confident , but still called the local hotel property to speak to a staff member, she was polite-kind & shared that the property was flipped & had a floor to ceiling makeover in the spring of 2015. Perfect.

Went back to the choice hotels web site , booked 5 nights
First  night  $86 + tax
Next 3 nights  $84 plus tax  total bill  including tax $377

Booked the AAA-Aarp rate.

Our stay was excellent, I asked Nayely who checked me in for 3 things
1. a 2nd floor room
2. far from the stairs
3. and a quiet room if possible

She pulled out the map & chose #216
as it was halfway between both stairwells , close to the breakfast nook, but far enough away from the pool to avoid potential noise.

also rooms 211-217  are blocked from road noise on Colorado  due to the J- shape of the property
** great tip Nayely

The lobby is clean updated, plus free copies daily of USA Today ($2 savings)
After the breakfast session, coffee was always fresh & available in the lobby.

We used the pool & hot tub every day, and it was clean and comfy, plus the desk had plenty of pool towels

The room oh the room, the bride remarked it was the best hotel bed ever!
Nice & very firm king sized bed, with 2-3 soft-firm pillow options
Mini fridge & microwave
TV was a flat screen seemed to be a 36 ,plus they had direct tv as there satellite source

Breakfast was far more than continental
Daily they had eggs scrambled discs, sausage links, hash browns & the waffle maker
3 cereals
yogurt - bananas- oranges -oatmeal & hard boiled eggs
breads-muffins -danish
coffee & 2 juices & 2 milks.

Elsa the breakfast attendant was always stocking , cleaning & fetching what ever needed to be done.

Such a super convenient location for freeway access and for walking distance to 10-12 good quality restaurants + 10% off with your room key

parking was also FREE & ABUNDANT which helped & supreised both of our daughters who live in Pasadena & Alhambra

Our stay was absolutely perfect.

I stayed here after having surgery as the hospital didn't require an overnight stay. I was nervous because I wouldn't be feeling great during recovery and that made it all the more vital I pick a great hotel.

*sigh of relief* Everything was PERFECT. Very very clean rooms, polite staff, affordable rate, continental breakfast, FREE PARKING & WIFI. I was thrilled. This hotel lives up to its reviews.
