    Unfortunately was not a pleasant stay. I have never had many problems at hotels especially Marriott as it is my hotel of choice. I have stayed across the street at the JW and had a magnificent stay but not this time. Had some issues and nothing taken care of in a timely manner. Hopefully things turn around as Marriott is generally a great place.

    This past labor day some friends and I decided to have a fab night out on the town. The Courtyard popped up on one of my searches, I've had good experiences in the past with particular hotel chain so I booked it.
    Pros:  
    Good price for the those on a budget. (1 night about $270 + valet/parking on a holiday weekend)
    The hotel was nicely decorated. Very modern and had a young energy.
    The valet was right in front of the door and w/immediate service. ($41.30/night)
    There was a little kiosk that sold starbucks, served beer & wine, and also had food or light snacks aside from the mini market place.
    The pool was really nice too.  (closes @ 10pm)
    Room:
    I was 15mins early for check in but they were able to accommodate me. It was a spacious room overlooking the pool. The queen beds were super comfy not super decorated and looked more like a dorm room suite it was still comfortable with the small cabinet they call a closet attached to a desk.  It even had a coffee maker, and a small fridge.

    CONS:
    VALET/BELL- The valet area is very small and get rather crowded if they leave off for a minute during a busy check-in.  The valet fee is automatically charged to your room which is rather unsettling because in this case my group and I arrived in separate cars and times. So my room was charged over $80 in valet fees.  The greeter who gave me a claim ticket didn't even offer help for my bags.  By chance the valet runner asked if I had bags.  As an after thought it dawned on him that I wanted help with my bags. He proceeded to help bring my heavy bags out of the back of my car and that was where help ended.  I'm not a diva bitch but if I'm paying to stay at a hotel I expect an offer of assistance at the least.
    FRONT DESK- The girl really needed to work on her pronunciation and annunciation  because she was talking so fast, she sounded like the drive through workers at a fast food restaurant trying to sell you the latest promo. She stressed that I was 15 min early and that it wasn't check in time yet. I can show up in Vegas over an hour early and be accommodated w/out any problem.  In fact I get upgraded in Vegas for being early here well I get a guilt trip. After she managed to find me a room that was available she gave me my keys. It was nice of her to escort me to the elevator but thats where star service ended. (Still there was no offer of help w/my bags).
    ROOM- When I got to my floor it was dark, even the elevator was dark, and the floor stunk of skunk! Yes the illegal kind. My room didn't smell thankfully the cool air from the A/C helped. The bathroom door is a sliding door that didn't close all the way and when I first tried it out it was stuck. Eventually I was able to get it to close.  However since it was a sliding door there was a crack between the door and the bathroom doorway. I could still see inside the bathroom despite it being closed.  When I called for a rollaway bed Room Service told me they DON'T have roll away beds. Which is not what it said online.  The girl proceeded to tell me that I should use the sofa bed in my room.  My room did not have a sofa. It only had a chair in the corner and the two beds.  Still she insisted that I was mistaken and checked. I was right after all my room type does not have a sofa. Still nothing else could be done but she did manage to send up the towels I asked for.  
    My friends arrived a little later and they had the room # and I figured they would be able to come up no problem if there was the front desk would call to confirm w/me.  The elevators were so dark that I didn't realize that I had to use the key to go up especially since that girl had set it up for me to go up w/out using the key. A security guard escorted them to the room when they went to the desk for help. They were more concerned w/security than w/ customer service. The desk didn't even call to confirm even though I told them more people were coming. To avoid trouble I went down to leave a key for the last of my friends to come. The front desk clerk was more than willing to help, she took down the names. The same girl from earlier jumped in and stopped the girl from accepting the key. For security purposes they couldn't do that. I would have to come down check them in in person and new keys would be made for them.
    Also as we were settling in the room we found some candy on the floor  by the widow. (eew and not a good idea in DTLA since it attracts ants, roaches, and rodents).

    I wouldn't recommend this hotel after my stay.  The staff needs more training, in fact they should go to vegas and shadow the staff there to learn more about customer service , logic, and cleaning. As a side note the last of my friends went across the street to the J.W. Marriott by mistake and the bell service there escorted her to the correct hotel so that she wouldn't have to carry her bags by herself. Thats service and she wasn't even a guest of that hotel. Just saying big difference.

    I am a taxi driver in the city of Los Angeles and I am writing this review to let all customers at this hotel know about the corrupt doormen at this hotel. When you come out to ask for a taxi the doorman will automatically ask you where you're going. Long trip... They will call you a town car or a taxi driver they know who gives them a commission for the trip. Short trip... They will walk over to the JW Marriott and grab you a taxi and then act like they've done you a huge favor by getting you a cab. There is never any reason for a doorman to ask you where you are going unless it's for their own gain. Christian was the doorman this morning and my passenger confirmed he asked her where she was going. I wasn't shocked to learn it was only a few blocks. When I asked Christian why he needed to ask the passenger where they were going he very rudely told me to get out of their driveway. I then proceeded to call the hotel. I was told that their manager Zack said it was not his problem because they were a contracted valet company. Really? A company on your property who is acting in such a manner and it's not your problem? I wonder if Zack gets a piece of the action also.

    I love this Courtyard.  It's definitely not the traditional version. It's very modern and it smells excellent! The front desk staff were very accommodating and pleasant to interact with. I will be staying here again!

    WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. When we got there at 3:30 PM, they could not check us in coz they didn't have a room available since there were too many late check outs even tho I reserved online and I already gave them my credit card information. So we decided to wait anyway. An hour later, they told us the lights were broken in our reserved room so they couldn't check us in. I was so mad I cancelled my booking altogether and got a last minute booking at Loews Hotel Hollywood which had amazing service, comfortable rooms, great view of the Hollywood sign and it was right in the middle of the party scene. The receptionist at Marriott didn't even apologize or offer us complementary anything to compensate like they didn't even care! Parking is horrible as well. Takes forever to get valet.

    Perfect place to stay overnight while at an event at Staples Center. My kids and I saw Katy Perry and the 5 of us stayed in one room with double beds and a roll away. Plenty of room! Very clean and extremely fast housekeeping service. We forgot toothpaste and it was delivered within minutes. Same with roll away bed and a knife needed to cut an apple. $ 40+ for valet parking was a little steep but I wouldn't even want to try to find parking nearby when a concert is happening. All in all, great hotel for a reasonable price. Will definitely stay there again if we go to an event at Stapels!

    This is my first time here and definitely not my last. I'm a huge NBA/Lakers fan and I come to LA Live a few times a year, but this hotel is located directly in the heart of LA Live and in very close proximity to Staples Center. I was going to stay at the J.W. Marriott, but they only had ADA rooms available. The staff here is terrific. Natalie took excellent care of me and my requests at check-in and even greeted my dog. Edwin the valet was cool and made sure all my bags and "stuff" got to the room in a timely manner. I was booked with a king bed and a sofa bed, and they modified my room to a double queen which was much better since I was with my two teenage sons. We brought along a twin air mattress for one of them. The room was big enough to comfortably fit all of us. Oh, did I mention I had my pit bull puppy with us along with his kennel/crate. The room was huge. Oh, and we were upgraded to the corner room, which you know if you stay in high rise hotels the corner rooms are the money shot. Especially when you're on the upper floors and you have views. We had terrific views of Los Angeles during the day, and got to see all of the New Year's fireworks at night. Yes! We were here on NYE and we had a ball in the room! My dog was treated like a king! In a rush I forgot his feeding bowls. Guess what? I called downstairs and requested bowls, and they brought a dog dish to the room complete with treats in it. My dog is well traveled so he has excellent hotel manners and the entire hotel staff loved him. We had no problems exiting and entering the hotel. There was a small grassy area in the parking lot across the street he used to relieve himself, but their is a dog park about a 10 minute walk from the hotel. There is a full bar in the lobby, but I didn't use it. I brought my own craft beer and champagne with me. I will definitely return to this hotel.  Probably next week on my birthday for the Lakers game. I would recommend this hotel for families, couples, or just friends that want to hangout and enjoy LA Live.

    The Courtyard Marriott at LA Live opened today. I found this out by walking into the lobby and asking for a room. The staff was eager to please. I'm a Gold Marriott Rewards member and have stayed at a lot of Marriott's. This one is distinctly LA and more urban hotel in the heart of a Metropolis than most. The staff was eager to serve the public and all of us in the hotel today felt very special. What a great event to stumble into. They had "cut the ribbon" mere hours before.

    Our usual downtown go-to (the JW across the street) was booked because of the Grammys, so we gave this hotel a try though we try to avoid the Courtyard brand.   Really beautiful! The room was clean and modern, and the service was great. I loved the pool and deck area, though it just gets no sun during the afternoon hours, which is a bit disappointing. The view from our room was a gorgeous panoramic of all of Hollywood and L.A., and the service at the little wine bar in the lobby was excellent. I wish there was some sort of lounge access available to people staying at the CY, and not just the Residence in that is adjacent. The parking is your typical level of L.A. ridiculousness, but there are other options nearby. I was overall very surprised, and would not mind going back (though I still prefer the JW!).

    I got the Hospitality Suite a few weeks ago and was shocked for two reasons:
    1. my room was not properly cleaned and sanitized before I checked in at 1pm (food spots on the kitchen counter, bathroom had not been properly restocked and towels replaced, shoe marks on the tile, etc.)
    2. my particular suite was connected to a balcony/patio area that connected to the pool on the floor below!

    Okay, it took 3 calls to housekeeping and a visit downstairs for someone to finally come up and clean my room (I believe they were at full capacity so it was difficult to allocate people? not sure but I was //already in my room//) but it got cleaned. They were also willing to knock my rate down because of the inconvenience so that's why they get full stars. Good on you, Courtyard @ LA Live.

    Anyway, so this patio area was connected to general doors for the public, but there was a sign on the outside of it that said it closed at 6pm so I pretty much had that patio to myself for the whole night! Really great room and area. Continental breakfast is until maybe 9 or 9:30 am? And it's not bad for what it is!

    ALSO BIG UPS TO FREE WIFI FOR CUSTOMERS! Would stay here again as long as I can get that suite with the patio again!

    Stayed here at an associate rate which usually means they give u the worst room available. But instead, the girl at front desk, Sammi, took really good care of us like any other guest. Was really happy with our stay and she was fantastic. Enjoyed breakfast and valet thanks to her. Thanks, Sammi. Way to go Courtyard.

    I stayed here the weekend of 9/12 - 9/14.

    This hotel had quite a few problems. It is new, so it's still working out some kinks. First, the valet is $40 a night. This is a bit absurd. It's typical to need a car while in LA, and while I understand they have limited parking, but the hotel could bump it down to about half the price. This is the COURTYARD Marriott, not the JW Marriott across the street.

    Service was repeatedly a problem. Anytime we called down for something like an extra pillow or missing utensils from room service, no one would show up for 30 minutes and we had to call again to remind them. The same happened for our valet service. We presented our ticket to get the car, no car for 30 minutes, and suddenly 4 attendants are asking if we need help when we had already requested it long ago. All the employees were friendly, but they just weren't on their A game in terms of getting things accomplished.

    The positive is the location if you're planning on spending most of your visit in Downtown LA. The cleanliness of the room and hotel facilities were great as well since it's a new place. I'm sure it'll get better with time but I just felt that I paid an excessive amount of money altogether for an experience that was less than superb.

    The courtyard out here in LA live is actually a newer hotel that has a fantastic location! I usually stay at the JW Marriott or the Ritz which are both directly across the street from the courtyard but this time I decided to bring my dog and it just so happens that the courtyard is pet friendly! That's an auto 1 star for me... As for the hotel, the customer service is solid and the hotel is beautiful. The rooms are very well appointed and as a platinum member I got a free bottle of wine, which is cool. The one downside is that the AC unit was hella loud during cycling. It made a nasty ticking sound which wasn't too good in the middle of the night. Other than that, Starbucks is inside, valet was cool, customer service was solid, room was nice, location is second to none and the AC unit sucked!

    This is for the Residence Inn:

    Very modern chic hotel.  I stayed for two nights and the suite was beautiful.  Great service both inside the hotel and outside for valet.  For example, in the main lounge room I noticed they didn't have any chopsticks, so I just told a staff member and she apologized and the very next morning at breakfast there was a big stash of chopsticks at the exact spot I was standing yesterday.  There's also lots of places with fancy sofas and chairs to lounge casually all over the hotel with privacy.  Big nice pool and patio outside, right next to a 24 hr fitness room.  You get a similar experience to the LA Live across the street for a lower price.  Overall a good hotel to find in Los Angeles -- located in a good place, with great service, many hotel perks, and nice rooms.

    This downtown hotel was great as rooms were spacious and clean. Metro is closeby so can get to Hollywood or Beverley hills. They gave us an early checkin which was very appreciated. We had spent last 23hrs on plane / airports. Close walking distance to Pantry, bus stop to Citidel outlet, LA Live where there's a Smashburger!

    Just stayed there with my kids and niece for the weekend to get to an Anime concert they wanted to see at Nokia. When we first got there, I was told I got upgraded which at first ... score! However, I should've known by now that especially when I have the kids that it isn't always the best thing to get upgraded and ... sure enough, although I got a corner suite, I'd originally asked for a suite that fit 5 people (and needed the sofa bed, which the suites on the Courtyard side don't have).

    But, no problem - they moved me to the suite I wanted, and we loved it. The room was very clean and modern, and you can tell the hotel is pretty new - fantastic look.

    Kenneth was particularly funny and friendly at the front desk, and the entire valet staff was prompt, helpful, and courteous. I am not sure what issues people had with customer service, but I thoroughly enjoyed the stay and got great service from everyone, from housekeeping to the aforementioned staff. The only laughable thing was that none of them could tell me the lovely fragrance that was permeating the lobby -- reminded me of some of the more posh hotels in Europe that I stayed at and would love to have at my house! Kenneth said he'd make it his mission to find out and would tell me when I stayed there again ... game on!

    A few helpful tips:

    The Courtyard and Residence Inn are embedded within one hotel, one entrance. Never stayed at one of those before. It just took me a couple of drive-bys to figure that one out.

    As mentioned, the Courtyard side does not have the extra sofa bed. You will have to request the Residence side (which also has the kitchens).

    The bathroom doors are those sliding doors that don't lock but cover the entire entrance way, as well as noise. At least they do that better on the Residence side. The short time we checked out the suite at the Courtyard, we encountered a gap in the door to the bathroom -- the kids had all kinds of pranks plotted out around that one until thankfully, we moved.

    They are still building their restaurant within the hotel as of this writing.

    The pool is very modern and nice, but I wouldn't say it's for smaller kids unless they're always with an adult and wearing some floatation device, as the shortest depth is 3'6".

    Free wi-fi.

    I'll be back, and Kenneth, you'd better have the name of that lobby fragrance ready.

    Love the LA vibe here.  After a Laker game or concert it's a great place to have dinner or have a cocktail. I was bummed  when I found out Trader Vics closed down. There are still a few more restuarants worth trying. You can catch a movie as well. It's right across from the Staple Center which is convenient.  Nestled in the middle is also the Nokia which is always a great venue for a good concert. I went during the holidays and was pleasantly surprised when they had a ice skating wink set up. In sunny California this is a nice touch to celebrate the winter holidays.

    They took great care of us here.  We got there at 8am on checkin day, and since a room was available, they let us check in way early at no charge.  Same thing on check out, they were able to accommodate a 1pm check out.

    When I asked if wine glasses were available, they were able to procure a couple from Residence Inn and deliver them.

    The room was on the small size, but definitely sufficient.  Hotel is new, so everything was nice.  Everyone we dealt with was very friendly and helpful.

    You would think Courtyard is like the low end version of Marriott. No no no... This place is pimping yo! Their lobby is beautiful with colors. There is a bar and coffee area on first level. On the 3rd level, they have a pool and fitness center. You can do your laundry on 2nd level. Everything looks brand new and super clean. People are nice too. The location is a huge plus. It's right in LA so you can go to Beverly Hills or Hollywood, which is 20min from the hotel. It is highly recommended.

    The three of us fit comfortably in this modern and clean room. We had a great view of the Staples Center and it was very easy to get around. This was a really good hotel because going any where around downtown was super close! Calling an Uber was so simple and the cars would come in no time.

    Overall, the room was quite nice- there was a pull out couch, a queen sized bed (very comfy btw), and a decent bathroom. We all enjoyed our brief stay and the room served it's purpose well. We needed a spot for one night so that we could all party in LA. Done and done. Thanks for a great stay! Only thing is.. really? $40 valet?

    Here for business and I love the location and proximity it is in comparison to The Staples Center/LA Live. Literally if I walk across the street, I'm in the hustle and bustle of some yummy restaurants.

    Front desk team members are pretty nice and helpful-they even provided some good recommendations for places to eat dinner.

    One down fall is they only have Valet which is $40. There is a parking lot across the hotel which is $30 for overnight parking and that parking lot does not offer ins & outs.

    Beds are comfy. Bathroom is big. The colors in the room are very warm and cozy.
    I enjoyed sitting on my fake window sill seat area watching the forever/never ending LA traffic.

    Biggest annoyance:
    When my neighbors shut their hotel door it's extremely loud and sounds like the door is slamming. It echoes through the hallway. SO Annoying!

    Great staff....after not finding my garment on the housekeeping lost and found list Adrain G. actually when and looked in the room himself finding my clothing behind a couch!  Most hotel's staff would have just said "I don't see anything on the lost & found list" and blew me off----Adrian invested the time to go and look for himself. Patsy , Juan, the valet staff all were great!

    The location is great with the best of LA within walking distance.
