Hotel Week Part III

So, this is my hotel week (long story) and I've just spent two nights at this Courtyard by Marriott and I had a very pleasant stay.

Everyone staff member I have encountered was extremely nice, helpful and courteous. Shelby, the person who was at the front desk when I checked in later left me a message on my room phone while I was out welcoming me to the Courtyard and wishing me an agreeable stay. Hotels like the Crowne Plaza, that is a 3 1/2 star hotel, do not even do that! Incredible customer service.

My room was large with two beds and a sofa with additional bedding available in the closet if I wanted to have guests. I could have accommodated 3 more people very comfortably nothing like that at The Crowne Plaza in Redondo Beach where I am currently staying. I will have to write a review later on). I did not use the gym, pretty small but saw two men working out and they seemed very focused. I don't work out at a gym (Pilates, power walks and lots of walking are my best friends) so the small gym was not an issue for me. They have little Arrowheads' bottles in a mini fridge there. I know, I did not work out but I took one anyway. Hey, checking everything out to be able to write an informed and insightful review does make you thirsty. I didn't have my swimsuit with me so I could not try the Jacuzzi. I wish the Courtyard had a pool...

I could work from my laptop thanks to the DSL connection in my bedroom. It was free and there is also free wireless in the lobby. Crowne Plaza's DSL connection is $9.95, same for the wireless. My desk had two chairs so two people could have worked at the desk. Additionally, there is a separation between the desk/office section and the bedroom part of the room. I liked that!

The breakfast buffet (who doesn't like a buffet?) is $13.99 I think and you can pick whatever you want (they make your eggs the way you want them) and bring your tray back to your room. They seem to really try their best to make your life easier.
Last but not least, there is a shuttle from and to the airport. Once again, Crowne Plaza in Redondo does not have that even though their website states otherwise. Benjamin at the front desk admitted that himself. Isn't that false advertising?...

Only con for me: There is nothing around but a Subway sandwiches as someone wrote. I wish they had more restaurants nearby, but yes, it's the airport... but you do get hungry even at the airport, right? And sometimes you want something they do not have at the hotel...

So, next time I think I am going to try a Courtyard located somewhere nice, by the beach and then I guess I'll have the best of both worlds. Needless to say I am now a Marriott Rewards member.

I got a pretty good priceline price, and after a week in Costa Rica I really took advantage of the fact that this place had the kind of air conditioning I used to dream about as a kid.  The sheets were also pretty nice and the room almost too big.

While it's an airport hotel, I was only there for a layover, so I didn't really care about the location -- however, you should still make sure you know how to get there, because my cab driver was completely useless and drove around lost for awhile with the meter running trying to find the place.

It's technically possible to walk to LAX from here, and I did exactly that when I missed their half-hourly airport shuttle;  It took me less than half an hour to walk, but I was rushing because I was running late.  It was a bit of a hike for me to get to the catty-corner AA terminal since the hotel is closer to the Southwest corner of LAX.  Er, Southwest the airline, not the direction.

Another great Courtyard by Marriott property, which is my corporate lodging of choice.  This particular property is where I stay whenever I have a quick layover at LAX.

Nothing special, just totally predictable Marriott: good service, friendly staff, everything a chain hotel should be.  This particular hotel is a little worn out compared to other Courtyards i've stayed at, but overall not bad, and a good value for being so close to the airport.

I wouldn't say its walking distance to LAX, unless you have very little baggage (no kids), and the airport dust is yucky enough to keep you indoors; but no harm no foul, they have a great shuttle.

Large, clean, quiet rooms. Staff was excellent, including shuttle personnel. After 24hrs of travel and another delayed flight, it was a nice place to stay overnight for $60! Recommended by American Air. Bravo!

Mar2011 lobby is under construction. shuttle service is shared with other hotels and since this Marriott is closest to airport, it is last on the circuit making it 1) full by the time it reaches the Marriott; and 2) easily delayed. ten-20 minutes and  can make one miss a flight! Room is large.Closets are furniture and also serve as room divider separating desk area. Mattresses are lumpy and soft.  Sink is separate from toilet/shower room.Staff is pleasant and helpful.

I was actually pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Very nice amenities, clean, king--sized bed was fantastic, soft as usual (for Marriott), and unlike other hotels with high price tags, the Internet was free. Worth the stay. The front desk staff was just okay, but if you want to eat, there is a small cafe, but you will have to walk for a restaurant.

Stayed here on a quick little overnight trip to LA with the parents for a business trip.  Even though we checked in super late, the staff was very courteous and friendly.  The beds are really comfortable, and sinks in about an inch or two when you lay down and the pillows are nice and fluffy.  If you need a firmer bed, you're probably out of luck, but I had absolutely no problem.  Everything was really clean and nicely decorated.  I woke up in the morning and opened the curtains to see a Qantas flight landing, and was really surprised because I didn't hear so much as a whoosh.  When they say soundproof, they mean soundproof!  Checking out was also a breeze.  Would definitely stay again.  -1 star for only having valet parking available for $18.

I find it strange that I am giving an "airport hotel" 4 stars, but this hotel was terrific in a variety of ways.

First, service from the valet to the front desk was great at check-in and check-out.  Extremely cordial and always smiling, I found them truly pleasant.

The lobby is functional and big enough - precisely what I'd hope for in an airport hotel.  I only stayed one night but checking out the next morning, they seemed to be serving a hot breakfast buffet there.  Any hotel serving hot breakfasts is A+ in my book.

Shuttle service offered for free to LAX, of course.

The room is where I was pleasantly surprised.
We did a hotel deal where you pay for one night and can park there for 7 days also for a mere $110 or something.  Given parking costs at LAX, this was a bargain!  Therefore, I assumed the room would end up being a closet with hopefully one window.

On the contrary, the room was extremely spacious, had a vanity/dressing area with sink, separate from the bathtub and toilet which was behind closed doors.  It had a living "area" with a sofa and desk - and a large television.  Further down the room, without any partitioning, the room had a truly comfortable bed with yet another armoire with TV.  Pay-per-view was readily available.

I don't have many reasons to stay at a LAX-hotel, but once in awhile, many of the international flights we take go from SFO to LAX, and depart from there to our final destination.  Once in awhile, you have to fly there the night before to make your morning flight out, and if/when I do, I will surely stay at this hotel.  Or, as we did this past time, we drove down to LAX to board a flight to Mexico and opted to arrive the night before - which is why we needed parking included.  Thought it was only a 10 hour stay, it was truly pleasant and relaxing.

Upon returning, the car was unharmed, and the valet was just as pleasant as the one we had when we arrived.

Seriously impressed!  Good job, Marriott!

I guess if you need a comfortable place to stay, the Courtyard is great.  They are just a couple of items away from grabbing that fourth star bump:

Dear Courtyard,
Your 'exercise room' is weak.  Don't even advertise that you have one if your guests can't really get a good workout in there.

Now, I'm not looking for a gym that's chalked full of tons of machines and  steroid bound latently gay meat heads slapping each other on the ass, and saying, "Yeah! Push, dude!  Nice set!" in a hotel, but I am looking for at least SOMETHING to do other than treadmill or stationary bike.

Next, no good bars / entertainment / restaurants worth a crap in the area.  What do you expect, it's the airport...

Other than that, very comfortable rooms, great staff, and super close to LAX if you have an early flight, which in this case, I do...

Rooms were FAR superior to any other courtyard I've ever stayed in.  I'm a huge hotel snob and wants it to be clean, comfortable and up-to-date.... everything about this room was!  The vanity being outside of the bathroom was a bit bizarre but I managed.  Spacious and comfortable.

Doing lots of construction in the lobby so that was a bit uncomfortable but I'll probably go back if I have to grab a quick room overnight and will take a look at how it came out next time.

Great job Courtyard LAX.  Finally updating and making the $200 hotel room price potentially worth it.

Stayed here the first and the last day of our USA West coast holiday, had a wonderful experience, very clean, comfortable and large rooms, friendly and helpful staff, and I got 2 great deals by booking on-line in advance both about ($120 for 4 people)

I also enjoyed the free shuttle to the airport, and from the car rental place to the Courtyard (could have had something to do with the car rental place not courtyard, i'm not sure, but still)

the free wifi, free pc's, and the ability to print boarding passes for free was really the cherry on the cake.

Breakfast wasn't included though, but definitely highly recommended for people travelling in and out LAX, and even for people not needed LAX at all!

This hotel is okay. My family and I got a nice frat house like room with two beds on the elite 15th floor (very top floor) with gorgeous views of the runways of Los Angeles International Airport and the various skylines of Long Beach, the building around LAX, and very faintly, Downtown Los Angeles. My only complaint is that the cost of parking anywhere is absolutely ridiculous. Complimentary free breakfast is also served, which is okay. And the hotel is tidied up very well whenever we go out during the day to do whatever in the Los Angeles vicinity. The lodging attendants were very nice and help, despite their limited English. Their fitness center is pretty nice, and I got a pretty good workout. Television is provided in there. You can also grab a copy of the Los Angeles Times if you like. The Marriott is a nice place to spend your stay in Los Angeles.

Pleasantly Surprised!  Stayed here recently for a night - it was my friends call.  I was skeptical....after all, Airport hotels in general aren't very warm and welcoming, but WOW, this place was really great!  It was nicer than the full service Marriott that I freuqent for business.  THe whole place was renovated in 2011.  Lobby is modern and spacious.  Free WiFi in lobby.  There is a bar, coffee shop and deli and there is a free shuttle to and from LAX every 15 minutes.   The rooms are also FANTASTIC!  Really spacious and nicely appointed!  The sink is part of the room (not in same space as toilet and shower) but that was no biggie.  Lots of drawers, flat screen TV's, new carpet, SUPER comfy beds and very nice lighting.  Staff is nice, the whole place is impeccably clean and its tucked away from Century Blvd so you don't hear a ton of noise from the street or the airport.
This may not be a destination hotel, but if you need to stay at LAX for an early flight or late arrival, this is a GREAT option.

Review on Marriott Courtyard, LAX

My wife and I stayed one night at this charming hotel by the Los Angeles Airport, to catch a flight out of LAX to the Far East the next morning. We loved our beautifully appointed, spacious room, its convenient location, and the free shuttle bus service to/from the hotel/airport.

The hotel entrance/lobby are quite small, but comfortable and functional, with a food/beverage bar, and a small bistro bar.Our room is one of the recently rennovated: - spacious and beautifully appointed, inviting and comfortable. It also comes with free internet, both wired and wireless.

- The bell/porter was very friendly, andhelpful with luggages. The shuttle bus drivers were cheerful, humorous, and very helpful getting our luggages on/off the shuttle bus.

This hotel was excellent, except for the only bad experience with the hotel check-in staff (only one on duty around 7:30pm that evening). He was disinterested and impersonalchecking us in; non-responsive to our questions on hotel amenities - and talking on the phone before completing our check-in! We were the only guests at check in and he made us feel unwelcome. Fortunately, our bell/porter was very nice, who told us about the hotel amenities and the neighborhood area. The check-out staff (two) in the morning were cheerful and efficient. Overall, we like this hotel, especially its new room and the free shuttle service.

First, let us all put our hands together for Priceline.  I scored the Courtyard Marriot LAX on Century for a measly 54 dollars a night!  At first, I was a little afraid of what I was getting myself into, but once I stepped foot into this lovely hotel, all apprehension melted away and I was in love with the place.

I arrived around 1pm on my check in and was immediately accommodated to a beautiful room.  The hotel seems brand new on the inside, everything from the carpets, to the bedding, to the ornate headboards, everything was lovely.

The bathroom was kind of interesting.   The bathtub was really large, which made fatty happy.  Next to the tub was the commode.  But, the sink was outside of the bathroom itself, close to the sleeping area.  Weird, but designed tastefully.  There was a nice large closet area with a built in money safe and full side hangers.  A large flat screen television to enjoy an afternoon of Nancy Grace and an icy mini fridge stashed nicely under a counter boasting a coffee maker complete with Wolfgang Puck coffees.

I ordered dinner from the café located in the lobby.  I was a little shocked that they didn't offer room service, but such is life.  Dinner was so-so and nothing to write home about.  The one thing that I guess is kind of sucky about the place is that the candy at the little snack shop is 2.50 each. All I wanted was a butterfinger...

Anyhow, I was allowed a late check-out of 1pm and check out was a breeze.

If we are ever in need of a hotel near LAX again, I would have no hesitation about going with this one.

The room was spacious and clean.  Service was excellent.

I had indicated upon making our reservation that we would need a crib and we were pleased to find it had been placed in our room prior to arrival.

Minor negative:  I did also indicate that we wanted extra towels and found only two bath-size towels in the bathroom.  Not a big deal deal though.

Also, the vanity is outside the toilet/shower area.  Could be a plus or a negative depending on how many people are traveling.

Check-in and out was seamless and the free shuttle to LAX runs every 15 minutes or so.

The only thing to keep in mind is you'll either need to pay for valet service at the hotel or park in if the lots behind the hotel. If you fly in at night, I'd suggest getting your rental the next day to save a bit if cash, take the hotel shuttle and save yourself the hassle of finding parking for your rental car after you pick it up. Otherwise, staff were helpful, wifi is free and rooms extremely comfortable. An excellent value.

Great hotel  We stayed there for one night because we had an early flight.  Rooms are big and very clean.  Wifi is free and great.  Front desk and valet service were excellent.  We added on the breakfast and it was delicious and very filling.  I would def recommend and stay here again.

Only con is that they charged us for a bottle of water which we did not drink.  Still waiting for the credit on my charge card.

I stayed a couple of days at the Courtyard Marriott during a week-long vacation in the city.

The hotel is very nice and looks modern. The rooms are spacious and relatively clean. The business center is also nice and has a printer for guest use.

The hotel was lacking in other areas. The valet parking was $20. Found out about the lots behind the hotel after-the-fact. The Bistro in the lobby is extremely overpriced and underwhelming. Do not eat there!

The wireless connection at the hotel is almost nonexistent. I'm glad I brought my hotspot, otherwise my iPad would have been a paperweight.

Also, not sure if I was overly sensitive to sound/noise, but I could hear doors opening and closing all day/night. The plane noise is pretty consistent, but it wasn't so bad.

Overall, while the hotel looks nice, it was pretty underwhelming. I would only recommend if you get a really great deal price wise.

Apologies for the long review in advanced.  I would never recommend this hotel to anyone, especially friends and family.

My mom and I came to LA to take care of some business, and we needed a hotel near the airport to stay at for a few nights.  It was pretty pricey for a week-night- over $200/ night.  We were exhausted though and decided to stay.

Unfortunately, my mom had a pretty frightening experience within the first hour of our check-in...

We had been driving for hours, and my mom needed to stretch her legs and decided to explore the hotel.  She entered the gym and walked outside to the pool area.  However, once she walked outside, the door behind her closed and locked from the inside.  She was alone and the back-area was completely fenced off; hard to escape.

She managed to find an Emergency phone and called the lobby for help.  FOUR employees attempted to get her out with no luck; the lock was broken.  She was stranded out in the cold for almost 45 minutes.  The front desk people called me and told me to come downstairs b/c she was still locked outside.

Finally, after 45 minutes, one of the women had managed to unlock and push the door open.  Immediately, my mom came inside, crying, freaked out, and hugged me.  It was horrible, I never see my mom cry.  The woman that let her in said under her breath "I told management that the door was broken"....

We went up to our room, and about 20 minutes later, one of the managers called us to apologize for our "inconvenience" and told us that they would take $80 off of our hotel bill for the first night.  To be honest- A LITTLE DISRESPECTFUL.  My mom couldn't sleep that night, and all they offered us was $80 off of one night????!

Not cool.  So the next day, we went to complain; there was a new manager working and they told they were truly sorry and would have the entire bill taken care of by the hotel.   ANOTHER BUTT= we came in the next morning to settle our bill, and I guess ANOTHER manager said that he would not honor that, and we had to pay our ENTIRE bill anyways.

What a horrible stay; traumatic experience for my mom, and broken promises.  :(

Don't stay here, the managers do not respect anyone.

The only good thing I can say about this hotel was the rooms were nice and clean. Overall the service was unsatisfactory. Do not expect anyone to help you with your luggage because when we got there there were 2 men just standing there talking not even acknowledging that we were there. We grabbed our own luggage cart and dealt with our luggage. The only time they talked to us, was when we were asking about parking and they were yelling their answer to us from their desk. At the front desk, a lady said that one of our friend's room was on the same floor as ours and she didn't even ask for her name yet! In the room my friends and I were in only 2 outlets worked! Our plugs would barely stay in the sockets because they were so loose. One late night as me and some of my friends were waiting for our other friends, there was no one at the front desk, but I saw the guy who was working sitting in another area watching tv. I saw another man grabbing something from the store and trying to find the employee to pay for it and he couldn't find him. I told him he was sitting right there. The man looked irritated having to go and find the front desk guy to pay for his item. Also, the employee was not wearing shoes! He was wearing slippers! Definitely unprofessional to add on to the list. This is the only time I've had a problem with a Marriott hotel.

If you respond to their ad for low cost airport parking at the Marriott while you fly out of LAX be aware that if you dont have your confirmation number when you return, they will use it as an excuse to charge you more than triple what they told you they would charge you when you made the deal.  And be rude while they do it.
(Didnt stay there, only used the parking while flying. So, the 1 is for the parking only.)

Parking is a racket here & if you aren't savy, you're in trouble--or just broke.

$20/day for valet only.  I'm one who believes that there are always other options.  The only reason I didn't cancel the entire reservation was because I booked with a 3rd party (didn't get that good 54 priceline rate that someone spoke of...)  After carefully reading street signs, I didn't have to pull my mother off the dumb clerk that thought the $20/day was the only option...

What a nice find!

I was attending a convention at the Sheraton a  block away, and I stayed here for a couple of nights over Memorial Day weekend.

Best bit:  Even though the hotel is in the shadow of the airport, the windows are so sound-proofed, we got ZERO airplane noise.

Also, the $20 for 24 hours of valet parking with in-and-out privileges meant I was able to be the taxi for my posse the entire weekend.  The parking lot is tiny, so you never have to wait for your car.

Only two problems:  Anemic air conditioning and the fact that the hotel is sort of hidden and therefore easy to miss.  But I will be recommending it to people as a great airport hotel solution!

The new lobby is awesome. I like everything about it. I've been here for a few meetings in their meeting space and I like the fact that you can grab something and go or order a meal. There are electrical outlets all over for your laptop. There are TV's everywhere with remotes to change the channel. WiFi is free. You can't beat it for a LA meeting if you're just in and out for the day. It doesn't get any closer to LAX..

They have a shuttle tracker on a screen in their lobby so you can always see where the airport shuttle is at... I think all hotel's should have that.

It was pretty pricey to stay on a weekday - $199/night = almost $230 after tax and such.

Room was nice, huge and comfy. Bed was comfortable. I was by myself but I had the 2 queen bed room - because 1 king bed room will cost another $10 (are you serious?). I don't like having the sink outside the bathroom.....but it is how it is.

Complimentary wifi. The only little complaint was the noise of airplane taking off and landing. I guess that's what you get by living close to the airport.

I was thoroughly impressed with the level of service at this hotel.

I was at a dance event in this hotel for the entire weekend - there were several hundred people mobbing the joint. Yet, although they must have been swamped, all of the staff members that I met were friendly and courteous.

I called and asked for more towels for our room - they were there in minutes!

I locked myself out in a bathing suit and they had a friendly security man down to my room very quickly to let me in.

And to take the cake, this interaction made my weekend: I forgot that glass bottles were not permitted in the pool area and was enjoying a beer with my feet in the water when an attendant came up to me to let me know as such. He was very polite and actually handed me a plastic cup to pour my drink into and took my bottle for me!!

The rooms were cleaned daily and the maids were very accommodating to our topsy turvy schedules.

No complaints to be had. Much thanks to the management if you're reading this!

I left something in the hotel room, then I called the hotel the same day. The guy who answered the phone made me wait for 5 minutes and when he picked up the phone again, he was chatting and laughing with someone. He told me that I have to call back at 9am to talk to the HOUSE KEEPING (only this one sentence, you couldn't tell me before, you had to let me to wait 5 minutes until you finished your chatting? If the chatting is that important, why you answered the phone and asked me how you may help me? why not just finished your chatting then answer all the calls?). Anyway, I couldn't sleep the whole night (worrying my lost item), called the hotel at 9am sharp, they transfer me to the house keeping. but it's a machine.
I left a message about when and what I lost, and my contact info. Today is the 3rd day, they still didn't contact me at all. And every time I called the house keeping, it's always the answering machine. I talked to the ppl who answered the phone in the first place, they only gave me the answer: They will call you back.
Seems like they don't care if the lost item is important/ emergency for they CUSTOMERS.

Definitely not going back to this hotel, and definitely not recommend this hotel. There are tons of choices in that area, I don't like their service and ridiculous charge for parking (the parking next door, i mean, only 50 steps away, charges almost half of the price the hotel charges you)! So apparently, MONEY is the only thing they love, CUSTOMERS? SERVICE? REPUTATION? Who cares!!

I really love this hotel. The staff is always super nice, the bistro's food/service is better than average, and the rooms are comfy comfy comfy. Extra points for a shuttle that leaves for the airport 24/7 (every 20 mins or so).

I did a fly and stay here the other week.  Got there super late, but service was friendly and prompt.  The walls are kind of thin, but the room was spacious and nice apportioned.  For the price, the room is newer and nicer than some of the other hotels I've stayed near the airport.

Shuttle service to LAX was fast and friendly as well.

I stayed in a cozy queen room the night before Thanksgiving and was very happy with it. Yes the room was small, but in Manhattan you have to expect that unless you want to spend a fortune on a suite. The lobby is one of the most beautiful in the city, a real taste of the glamor of Old LA, and I enjoyed a drink at the very pleasant lobby bar, along with some of the best honey roasted nuts I've ever tasted.

I'm not sure what hotel the other reviewers stayed at.

Yes, there is AC in the rooms here.  Yes, the parking charge is ridiculous ($23 overnight).  Yes, it looks and feels exactly like every other Courtyard on the planet.  It was clean and modern.

I will say that the front doors on the rooms are somewhat thin and you can hear other guests who are either too drunk or too rude to care about others in the hotel.  Welcome to Planet Earth where most everyone is narcissistic and rude.

But you can score terrific deals at this Courtyard on 3rd party hotel websites and just know there is a high parking charge going into the deal (and which is added onto your room rate).  High parking charges are universal at ALL hotels these days, no matter where you stay.  It's a dirty little hotel trick where they suck you in with low room rates and then hit you on the back end with nonsensically high valet charges.  So, if you want to avoid the valet charge, do your homework beforehand.  Apparently, there are lots nearby which may be cheaper than the valet overnight rate.

Also, for being next to the airport, I could barely hear the planes at all.  I only occasionally heard a low rumble which may, in fact, have been my tummy.  Overall, I was impressed with the window soundproofing.

I'd happily stay here again.  It's as good as any other Courtyard.

Great looking room with excellent decor; prompt and courteous front desk service; built-in Starbucks for the fiends (though, the menu is limited to the more common drinks and the pastries are not part of that deal). My only complaint is that the parking is valet only and its $23/night on top of your room tab - bummer.

After spending a week on the east coast in small dark hotel rooms, this is a breath of fresh air. Very spacious room, large window, lots of storage space, good climate control, and a very comfy bed.

Check in was fast and easy, staff was pleasant and helpful. Will stay here again. Only thing missing is a restaurant, but there are several in the area.

Requested adjoining rooms for a reservation  made 2 months ago and confirmed twice. Upon arrival no adjoining rooms were available and we received no compensation for the inconvenience. We were told that requests are not guaranteed. A notification BEFORE arrival would be nice. Don't expect anyone to help you with your bags or to even bring you a luggage cart when unloading your car.

On the brighter side, the location is convenient and the rooms are clean and spacious.

One of the best hotels I have stayed at, no really!  Everything I asked for was ready for us when we arrived, extra blankets and pillows, the roll away bed.  The room was also pretty large!  Beds were comfy and I loved the Lil deli restaurant and market.

Parking is an issue, as overnight will cost you about $25.  Right next door will charge $11 over night but no in out privilege...  didn't need it though!

Room is clean and modernly furnished. The valet is $25 a night which is pretty costly and the bar is not a full bar there are just beers and wine in a mini fridge in the starbucks area which is also the restaurant... Its a little confusing. It looks so pretty i'm just let down by the setup

Room was very old, with a power outlet coming off the wall and in urgent need of a renovation (in progress in other floors). Also, a hotel of this history and in this city should be much better in terms of service and details that make the guest feel special. I received a fedex envelope and had to personally retrieve it from the shipping department downstairs.

Room was decent minus the sink being outside of the bathroom and in the middle of the room.
Front desk said Starbucks counter was 24 hours...NOPE-the lady working the counter in the morning is rude and not helpful at all and opened 15 minutes late. Lesson...put nice cheerful people behind the coffee counter in the morning. People need it!

I stayed here over the weekend, and I will say that we were very happy here. The room was clean and spacious. It is valet only which was a concern, but the attendant was always very helpful in allowing us to get anything we needed from our car. The icing on the cake was that they extended our checkout until 2pm for us. How awesome is that?!

There are a few items to mention- overnight parking is $25 per night, and the little cafe isn't open for lunch, so there aren't a lot of food options around there. Without a car, we would've been pretty hungry!

This hotel is located right across from LAX. Actually; if you miss the exit for the hotel off the main road and turn on right on the exit before the hotel's exit, you'll find yourself in a loop of LAX passenger drop off area. You'll be stuck for at least 30 mins; if not more. So be on the look out. Or have a terrific navigator. Like myself. ;)

The hotel does offer free breakfast and it is one of the nicest hotel breakfasts I've had in recent memory. You order at the counter, grab yourself a table and they'll bring out the food to you. By the way; their breakfast area is beautiful. With each table having its own personal TV. No kidding. The lobby area in general is inviting and has a large TV towards the right as you enter. It even has an XBOX 360 & a PS3 for you to use. Which is a welcome addition when compared to vanilla hotel lobbies.

My room was gorgeous for the price I paid. And it was BRIGHT! I absolutely LOVE direct light and this room undoubtedly ranks amongst the top of the list of most awesome rooms I've ever reserved for any hotel in the same price range. Hands down; it felt like I paid three times as much! I didn't. That's always a great feeling.

Just drive on the same road pass the hotel & you'll come across some shopping centers, in case you need to get something. There used to be a Kohl's in the same vicinity, which has now been closed. Mingle with the locals if you want to at the local Starbucks. I do. Sometimes, it's the best way to get to know new people and maybe meet that special someone out of your usual work & friends circle.

There is valet parking only at this hotel. Street parking is available. And so is the parking garage. Self park your car and pay for the parking; as you would at any parking garage. No issues for me. I just parked and checked right in.

The hotel staff is beyond accommodating. They'll make sure your stay here is comfortable. Given how awesome this room was, I'll definitely return here if I'm in the area. And the breakfast is delicious too!

Thanks to the entire team working there for making my stay a pleasant experience!

I've stayed at this Courtyard a number of times. It's close to the airport - it's practically at the airport so it is very convenient if you're flying in and out of LAX (which I typically don't recommend). It is your typical Courtyard set up. Things to keep in mind:

1. Valet parking only. They do a decent job managing the valet system, but there have been times when I've had to wait 10-15 minutes for my car to show up. Plan ahead and it shouldn't be an issue.

2. Aside from the Courtyard Bistro, there isn't much within walking distance except the Subway around the corner.

3. The exhaust fans for the bathrooms are located on the roof and are on continuously to provide ventilation. Because I was on the top floor, the fan noise was VERY loud. I had to shut the door to my bathroom and I could still hear the fan noise roaring. If I stay here again, I will request a lower floor to get further away from the fan.

All in all, it is a decent hotel, not the greatest. And there are a lot of options around LA...

Came here today to interview with an out of town company. The hotel itself is quite nice inside. Friendly employees. They do not serve lunch here so we had to walk to the Sheraton next door to continue our interview.I parked at the meter since I was only there for 1.5 hrs, so not sure about the parking here. Bathrooms were clean.

I love Courtyard Marriotts. The valet was extremely helpful. Check in was warm, friendly and quick. The bed and bedding is high quality and comfy. Our room was very spacious with king bed and a sofa seating area. This would definitely be a four star in my book but for one thing. The room was too warm for sleeping. The lowest setting on the thermostat was 65. That would normally be low enough for me, so I doubt it was accurate.

I've stayed at more than my fair share of Courtyards By Marriott, and this one is a little different. I've never seen a Courtyard without any self-parking before. Valet-only isn't great but the valet guy was quick and efficient.  Having the half bathroom (the sink half) literally in the room-proper across from the bed is also a new one for me, with only the shower and toilet behind the door.  And here's the big idea that the folks at Marriott should be rolling out worldwide -  the nightlight in the bathroom. How nice to navigate the darkness to the bathroom and be greeted by a soft guiding light that offers visibility without SUDDEN EXTREME BRIGHTNESS as at other Courtyards. What a welcome addition to an already comfortable if utilitarian standard room.  Has anyone YELPED about a bathroom nightlight before?  It is also part metaphor, y'all.  Nice attention to detail and to the user experience. Room is solid.

To be honest, I was pretty let down. I read through so many great reviews and expected that experience. Unfortunately, it was no more than an average stay.

The breakdown:

They don't have their own parking garage. It's Valet parking only and that will run you $25 a day plus the obvious tip.

The grounds are small and so is the hotel, only about 6-7 floors. The photos shown on every website make this place look like the rest of the big name hotels on the lax strip (or so I call it) but it's much smaller.

The bathroom is small and the sink is outside in the general living area which wasn't too bad but really weird.

The bed was subpar. It had a pillow top cushion that kept folding over and wasn't secured well to the mattress. It made for constant flattening/adjusting so that we did not sleep on the folds of the cushion (hope that made sense).

Couch in the room was convenient but squeeked upon sitting and getting up.

Noise: You could hear people talking outside our door in the hallway. The door does not provide much noise cancellation from people walking in the halls which caused me wake up unexpectedly at 7:30 in the morning. It wasn't a matter of someone being extraordinarily loud but merely two people talking.

The staff was very friendly and had great customer service. I'll be honest and say I was a little rude to the check in staff when I heard they didn't have a garage to self park. She said it was posted on there website but was nice about it. I know it's my fault for not checking before booking but I was suprised that I didn't see that in the reviews I read. It's not that I'm cheap and didn't want to pay for the valet, I just don't trust anyone with my car or belongings.

The TV worked as expected and they had free wifi.

The room had a spacious lay out.

In-Hotel Starbucks!

This hotel ran me about $179 a night through Expedia. Which was not cheap for a one night stay. Took the risk based on the good reviews. I go to LA a few times a year to binge eat and get away with my wife. I usually stay at the Renaissance  but didn't want to spend the extra $20. Overall, I wish I paid the $20. Probably a better hotel for a business trip, not so much for a foody.

Rooms are clean and spacious. Absolutely no problems there.
But OMG the food. HORRIBLE.
Way overpriced food in the Bistro, that is pre-made, and then stuck in a microwave. I ordered a turkey reuben. The cashier pulled it off a tray (not even out of a fridge), and stuck it in a microwave in front of me. Microwaved sauerkraut, y'all. DISGUSTING. I took 2 bites of my $14 sandwich, and threw it away. (And then went to Carl's Jr.) Truly one of the grossest sandwiches in history.
Surely they can do better.

Was only there for a night on the way out of the country but was very impressed. The staff was super friendly, the room very clean.

The in house snack bar/bar are was very nice, and had a godo enough selection of things to eat and drink.

If i have to be in LA again near LAX, this would be my choice.
