WOW! This hotel is a perfect gem in the ghetto.  Anytime I book a hotel near LAX, there is always a gamble...weather its having to pay for parking or your hotel is surrounded by the ghetto.  This hotel is perfect.  It looks brand new, it has a resort feel to it.  Parking is hit or miss with there small lot (most spots are compact so bring a small car if possible).  the staff was extremely hospitable.  The bed was comfortable.  Its a shame I had to wake up at 6am and check out, cause I had no qualms about staying longer.  If you are looking for a hotel near LAX, book this one.  location is great, proximity to LAX is great, the price is great and just about everything else about it is great.

This by far was the best place we stayed for our very first family vacation. We were in LA to visit family and friends and it was good to be home. I found this hotel thru hotwire.com and got a great deal. I paid a 1/3 of what I would have paid had I booked it thru the hotel or even thru expedia.com . I had stayed here 5 years prior to the renovation. The concierge/bell desk was on point. Thanks to Joe- He was so helpful. He unloaded my car and took everything up to our room and he also helped us again when we left 5 days later. We have a 5 month old so traveling with an infant requires many many things. The checkin was great and they gave us a crib to put our son in. The room was excellent and clean and the free wifi was great. The only thing I hated was paying $15 a day for parking but we are from San Francisco where I have paid an arm and a leg to park our car for just half an hour so I guess I couldn't complain.  The restaurant however was just ok. The bar was even worse. We did dine there during their happy hour and our server just couldn't get it together. It seemed that maybe it was his first day even tho there were only a few others besides us. Overall, I would stay again.

At first, this place is unimpressive. Appears to be old and requires an update. There are no frills and certainly not glamorous. As the days went by, this place was actually a great place to stay. Close to the airport, with a shuttle service. Free parking. Free internet access. Free Excellent breakfast, especially their cinnamon rolls. Provides a refrigerator but not a microwave. Front desk can appear disorganized during the evenings but overall, still very good. Near the corner of a busy intersection and seems to be in an older part of town. Close to everything. Would stay here again.

I really don't know why this place has gotten so many good reviews.

First of all, my boyfriend and I had a late flight in and also some delays, but we made the hotel well aware. We also had to call them MULTIPLE times when we arrived to have them send a shuttle. We waited for a good 45 minutes and did not get to the hotel until around 3 AM. When we did arrive and tried to check in, the guy at the front desk was somewhat rude and talked to my boyfriend like he was stupid because he couldn't find our reservation, even though another person up front could find it with no problem when my boyfriend talked to her on the phone earlier. Finally, after giving him the confirmation number, he turned around and began to apologize, etc.

Walking in, I found it strange that the room doesn't have a refrigerator. It kind of sucks that we can't even bring leftovers from dinner back.

Also, our room was kind of dirty and the windows are DISGUSTING. Bird poop literally all over.

We found the next morning that our air conditioner did not work, though it appeared to be on. We notified the front desk on our way out and the woman there wrote it down and asked if it would be okay to send maintenance up while we were out. We told them that was fine and left for a few hours. We returned to find that our keys to the room did not work. We went back down to the front desk and had to have the keys reactivated, where we again brought up the fact that we had complained about the A/C not working. The guy at the desk, along with the manager on duty then ensured us they would send maintenance up right away and we retreated to our room. We found that the fan on the A/C was finally working but we could not make any adjustments to it. No one ever came up to the room and we had to leave very shortly after that. On our way out, we told them again about the problem, and they asked if it would be okay to send someone now. We told them we were leaving, but it would be okay to send someone while we're gone. When we got back later in the evening, it was obvious that still nothing was done. As I'm laying in the bed right now, I'm a little cold with the blankets on.

The only redeeming qualities are there is free internet, free parking, free breakfast, and a big flat screen TV. I would probably stay again, but only if it was all I could afford. We chose it because of the good reviews, but I'm sure we have other options.

Edit (2/25/2011): Please ignore the fact that the grammar in this review is absolutely wretched. I was completely distracted while writing it and a bit emotionally compromised.

We frequently stay at HIEs because they consistently have nice rooms, well maintained exercise rooms, clean pools, a nice complimentary breakfast, friendly service, and all for a very competitive price.  This one did not disappoint but I have to say the staff at this HIE was a cut above the rest.  They even had their shuttle driver pick me up directly from the Alamo rental office because of a cold, hard rain would have made taking the car rental to LAX and then waiting for the HIE shuttle to bring me back to the hotel..

Great place to stay. Clean rooms.  Seems to have been updated recently.  Very friendly staff too.  It is exactly what you should expect from a HIE.

pros: near airport but far enough away that landing planes dont keep you up at night.  clean.  newly renovated.  good service.  half decent breakfast.  plenty of parking.  flat panel TV.

cons: felt like an old bed.  when heater is on, it will automatically turn off when the room reaches the set temperature.  however, before it turns off, for some reason, it blows a lot of cold air into the room first.  i dont know if it is because its cooling off or what but it makes the room cold again.  also, the units are really old and loud.

    Yeah, this place isn't great.

The staff was really nice and really helpful, too bad everything else was so-so.

First of all, the elevators are terrible. I think i only used them once, because every other time i tried to us it, it took forever and i just ended up taking the stairs. Yes, NO JOKE, the wait time was long enough to make the stairs a better option.

The parking area is another problem, too... Its very, very cramped. I think every spot is a compact spot, which sucks when half the people there are familes driving mini-vans.

What else? Oh yeah... the cleaning lady woke me up in the morning, and when i got to the door she goes "oh, sorry, sorry..." lol. Plus they bombard you with Chinese food advertisments for the resturant downstairs, lol.  Yeah... this place is a high priced 2 stars.

stayed here for our final vacay in la before school started and it was a good experience for the most part.  just a few little odd things i found that bothered me, but overall... comfy and worth the price.

1 star for location- it's a prime spot and really close to everything
2 stars:  for the comfy bed with clean linens and large room  [we had a suite] which had a pull out sofa bed.
    3 stars:  large bath tub/spa
    4 stars:  decent hot breakfast!

service was excellent.. whenever we walked into the hotel someone said hello.  we had a problem with our remote leaking battery acid and they replaced it right away.  also, when we needed towels, they brought more than enough.

-they offer room service, but i guess it's not strait from the hotel and is outsourced by a joint close by.
-they had a nice little gift shop that sold necessity things, and there is also a 7-11 within walking distance.
-parking is ample... and they have a garage and security guard walking around as well...

so it only got an a-ok rating because when i walked in to the hotel, it had a really weird smell...  i have this thing about smell so, right off the bat i was thrown off.  it's not like, rancid or so so bad..... it was just weird.  it was only in the check in area too.... so i have no idea what that's about.

the spa bath tub:  [was huge]  was a good thing about the room... it's just the doors and the walls in the bathrooms could use some protection from the water coming out of the tub.  the jets in the bath are crazy and hard to control.  you can tell the floors and walls... and especially the door has seen it's fair share of floods.  [again, it leaves a weird smell... though i was comforted by knowing exactly what was causing the smell.. it was water]

the sink was not in the bathroom..... it was in the room.
    the pool:  small.  so small.

all in all... it's a great place to stay on a budget... nothings really wrong with the place and it's run well.

    No.
    Seriously, NO.
Though we live in the West Valley, we stayed at this place overnight to catch a very early flight the next day. We left our car there for our time away. There was nothing special about the room, nor did we expect it to be.  The problems occurred when we returned late on a Friday night, after a six hour flight. After landing we called the hotel to request the shuttle, as we'd been told to do when we stayed there. A girl named Marie (Mary?) said the shuttle would be coming shortly and did I know how long it would take.  Since I didn't actually know how long it would be -- no one could know that -- I told her we'd be out at the waiting area as quickly as we could.  As it turned out, it didn't take long for the bags to be unloaded from the plane and we were outside soon thereafter.  We ended up waiting for 40 to 45 minutes for a shuttle that was from a hotel about ten minutes away from the airport.  Even with traffic there's no reason for this delay.  And the two more calls I made to Marie / Mary were not helpful as she told me both times the shuttle was just leaving.  She seemed to get pissed off that I was calling again.  I don't know if she is just generally unable to do her job or this was a special circumstance.  When the shuttle finally did arrive, the driver said he'd just left about ten or fifteen minutes earlier.  And when we finally arrived back at the hotel, there were a large number of teens, sitting on the walkway out front, making noise and drinking, as if they were in front of some friend's party.

It doesn't seem like this particular HIE has a manager -- there's no other way to explain how poorly run it is.  If it's more expensive to do the same thing at a hotel that's on Century Blvd., pay the money anyway -- it'll be worth it to avoid a miserable experience.

I was looking for a decent hotel that was within a short cab ride to the Forum for a concert I was attending. This hotel had the best value (price and ratings).   I wasn't expecting much because this place isn't in the best neighborhood and I was so pleasantly surprised! The front desk staff was extremely friendly, efficient and genuine.  There was underground parking (completely safe and NO extra fee) and the room was a great size for 2 and the bed was very comfy!  We asked for a fridge and it was sent up within 30 minutes of our arrival which is great! It was definitely a very pleasant stay. Thanks!

Convenient location. They have a great shuttle service that will pick you up from the airport. The staff Carlos and Noella are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clean. The free continental breakfast is actually a small buffet! Nice area with a IHOP and Denny's nearby. I will defiantly stay here again if I need to stay near the airport.

Let me just say that I make it a general practice to AVOID HoJos at all costs. Unfortunately, I was visiting relatives for Thanksgiving, and they were the ones who booked our hotel. We pulled up to the hotel at night, and it looked shabby from the outside. We parked in the parking garage. On the way in, I noticed a Chinese restaurant, but it was empty and looked a little questionable, so I didn't plan on eating there.

When we walked into the lobby, there was an undeniable stench of body odor. We took the elevators, and I didn't notice any mess, blood, or anything else reviewers on TripAdvisor mentioned, although it was a bit slow.

The room was old, but it was clean. If we looked out the window, we could watch the airplanes landing at LAX, but there was no noise. Being enamored with metropolitan cities, I was very happy about this.

Contrary to popular belief, the area isn't rough or that unsafe. My husband got restless at 1:00 a.m., and he went out for a walk in the neighborhood with no problems. While he was out, he asked a security guard near the 7-11 about the area, and the security guard told him that the area was actually relatively safe. I can see how the place might seem rough to visitors, but my relatives live only blocks away, and the houses are nice, and the neighborhoods are peaceful.

Overall, the hotel is all right for an overnight stay, but you could probably find much nicer accomodations for a few more dollars.

Clean, reasonably priced (each time we've stayed our King room has been in the $85-100.00 range), spacious, with up-to-date rooms.  Free parking and internet access!

Has a pool but it's pretty small and adjacent to their parking lot.  Not a lot of other amenities (i.e. it's not a resort hotel), but it you're looking for a nice, clean, comfortable, and inexpensive place to stay, this Holiday Inn Express fits the bill.

We stayed one night here.  Hotel was nice, rooms were large and comfortable.  Breakfast in the morning was your typical free hotel breakfast, nothing special,, but was perfect for a cup of coffee and a muffin.  The reason for 3 stars is because the parking garage is extremely tight, hard to park a full size truck and it smelled of urine.  Also, when my husband left to catch his flight at about 10 pm the hallway smelled of marijuana!!!  I am glad the kids were in the room.  Otherwise, it served the purpose and was close to the airport and has a free shuttle.

The hotel was clean and well-located.  We stayed so we would be close to LAX for an early morning flight out, but I'm very impressed with the service.  To save time in the morning, we returned our rental car the night before, and the shuttle picked us up at Alamo.  The morning shuttle is very prompt and the parking is FREE.  What impressed me the most was that my son left something in the room when we checked out, and we didn't realize it until we landed on the east coast.  I called the front desk right away and Perla tracked down the housekeeper who had cleaned our room, found the item and set it aside.  I arranged a FedEx pickup and called back and talked to Maria who will box up the item and send it back.  She hunted around for appropriate packaging--  overall the front desk staff was really helpful and gracious.

I'm writing this review while sitting in the nice room at the Holiday Inn Express LAX.  I needed to be by the airport for a meeting and read a lot of reviews ahead of time.  This was the only one without bad reviews and was still in the price range I wanted. (Under $100).
The hotel feels brand new, although it was probably just renovated last year.  Still, everything is perfectly new.  The room is beautiful and very clean.

    Also:
-Free parking added value since some airport hotels charge for parking.
    -Free, fast, WIFI
-Free breakfast: While it's nothing to write home about it satisfied with cereals, bagels,  muffins, juice, coffee and scrambled eggs, biscuits.  Although to be honest, the eggs should be avoided.  What do you expect, they're just microwaved.

This is the best 3 star hotel you will find.  Oh and it took me 6 mins to drive to LAX, and they have a shuttle too if you need that.

Friendly staff, nice clean rooms. The only complaint is that I got the kids package that was supposed to be more kid channels, snack drinks n coloring books. What I did get was 2 caprison drinks and 2 fun size candys & a kitten puzzle for $15 what the package cost.   I had 3 kids so it pissed me off. Other than that it was good. Close to Roscoes chicken n waffles, & Randy's doughnuts both were bomb!! Warm pool

This is a great hotel for the budget-minded. Its a stone's throw from the airport and car rental return lots. Its very easy to get to anything on the westside from this location. Parking, breakfast, and wifi are included! The one downside would be the TINY swimming pool. Otherwise, very friendly staff and nice, clean accommodations and common areas.

Nice and clean, the tv was smaller then other hol. Inn express we have stayed at , there was no frig in the room a real downer. Parking was free. The location was perfect for what we wanted to do. Which was catch to  a couple ball games at Loyola Marymount university.  We would stay here again maybe ask to see if they have a frig and make sure we are on a floor with a ice maker.
They have a complimentry breakfast which looked popular ,we had other plans so did not stay and eat. They also have a gift shop which came in handy when wife needed a hat because it was sunny at the ball park, prices were  reasonable. Staff very friendly and willing to help.

Based on the Yelp reviews I stayed here on 2/22 before heading to LAX, first the hotel was much further out than we expected, set away from all the other LAX hotels.  The hotel was in an isolated location, borderline safe. The room smelled moldy, there was a wall mounted a/c fan thing but it still smelled musty.  My son left a small bur;ap bag full of new vacation toys, his favorite Cars, monster trucks, games ect. in the our room, I called the hotel and they said it was not turned in, I even went back to the hotel and still no luck.

Note, there is NO long term parking, just free parking during the night of stay...if you need to stay and park your car while on your trip, stay at the Westin - clean, close, and priced fair for hotel & long term parking.

Never will I stay or recommend staying at Holiday Inn Express.

So, Here's the deal. I've been using Priceline to book hotels on line at discounted rates. As cool as it is to get 3 and 4 star hotels for peanuts, there are several negatives about it. The major issue if you want Mister Shatner to Chop your fees is that you dont get to know what hotel you are staying in until AFTER you pay for it!

My experience at the Holiday Inn was terrible.
As I approached the hotel, I shocked to see the whole building covered with scaffolding. I tried my hardest, I really did, not to let the ugliness of the hotel bother me.
The check in clerk was very nice and set me up with a room facing away from Century Boulevard's noise, facing the back of the hotel, where my car was parked.

The hallways were very dated, you know the pastel early 80's pink and mint green. Massive holes in the walls, dirty carpet and empty fire extinguisher holders!!! I was praying to the Holiday Inn gods that I wasnt going to spontaneously combust in the middle of the night.

The room was also dated and had a faint smell of cigarettes dispite being a non-smoking room. The bed was so-so, the towels were scratchy and being stuck in a room next to the vending machines and ice machine didnt help my evening either. It was also a windy night, and the scaffolding was swaying more and the buns on J-Lo.

Around 2am, I got hungry and decided that Taco Bell sounded like a good snack. That was the last time my car was in one peice. While loading my luggage into my SUV, I noticed something different. My third row seat was GONE! I walked over to the driver side and noticed that the thieves had drilled a hole under my door handle and opened the back. I immediately informed the head of hotel security, hoping that the security cameras had seen something. Oh, but wait...the hotel would need to have cameras to be able to catch something like that. That's right, NO SECURITY CAMERAS!

My overall experience bad. I would not recommend this place at all.

The hotel is new and very clean. The room is nice and equipped with a flat screen TV, free internet, full bathroom with fine quality toiletries. Hot breakfast from 6:30-9:30 is included and it's nice. They even have either whole wheat bread or white bread, regular milk/2%fat milk or non-fat milk and yoghurt.
The outdoor pool and gym are never crowded.
We bid the room from priceline and got there couple times. This is our favorite and we'd return there, definitely.

They also have FREE Airport Pick up and Drop. The hotel is very close to the FREEWAY, 30 min from Downtown, and Santa Monica, Pasedena.

Only 45 Min from Disneyland, Magic Mountain, Knots. But at the same time i drive like a LA Driver.

Horrible Experience.  BUGS.  Stayed at this HIE location due to proximity to airport and because I had decent experiences at Holiday Inn Expresses in other cities.  NOT THIS ONE.  I woke up at 420am during my recent early Jan 2014 visit with a huge roach/bug of some kind crawling on my neck in the bed.   At first I couldn't believe it was something, but once I went to scratch my neck, I felt it ... and flung it against the wall (and heard a small "thud").  Disgusting.  This has never happened to me in all my travels.  The Manager eventually gave me my money back days later, but made no acknowledgement of the obvious insect problem at his location under his watch (nor did he volunteer to do anything about it).  I would NEVER EVER stay at this location again.  Disgusting.

In general, I have consistently found that Holiday Inn EXPRESSES (note: I am talking about Holiday Inn Express, not Holiday Inns, which I have no experience with) are good bets when booking a hotel.  All the ones I have been to in the past 5 years have been new or recently renovated.  Plus, Holiday Inn Express is under the Intercontinental Hotel Chain, so all your stays count towards the Priority Club Rewards Points.  In my opinion, the Priority Club Rewards system is also one of the easier to earn nights too.

For this particular Holiday Inn Express Location, I feel that I am truly qualified to give my opinion.  I travel a lot for work and am in LA often.  And whenever I'm in LA, I always stay at this Holiday Inn Express.

    Location:
*VERY close to LAX Airport, so it's very convienient.  No need to try and predict LA's crazy traffic patterns, you're right there!
*The only con for the location is that it's not the safest area and is somewhat near Inglewood.  They have security onsite in the evenings, so I feel completely safe while I'm on the hotel premises.
*There's decent food options within walking distance and within 5 minutes by car, there's a grocery store, shopping center, drug store, restaurants, bars and banks.

    Amenities:
*Breakfast is included and they have a good selection of items to choose from (Bagels, cereal, coffee, juices, breads, eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, pancakes...)
*Small fitness room.  Key word small.  As in 2 treadmills, an elliptical and a stationary bike.
    *Pool outdoors
*SHUTTLE TO/FROM THE AIRPORT!  Again, it's so convienient to stay at this hotel if you are traveling to/from LAX. (If you are arriving in LA, make sure to call ahead, so they send the shuttle.  If you are leaving LA, the shuttle leaves from the hotel every 30 minutes.)
*Business Center.  It's small and only has 3 computers, but it's complimentary and they have a printer as well.
*Wireless is also included, but sometimes the signal isn't too strong.
*Free parking!! Come on, its LA, when do you ever have free parking in LA!  The lot isn't huge, so sometimes the lot will get full.  But, just tell the staff and they'll show you where to park.

    Service:
All of the staff are very friendly and helpful!

Only warning I have is that the elevator IS THE SLOWEST THING IN THE WORLD.

I must say I enjoyed my stay here. Everyone was so helpful with me finding places since it was my first time in LA. Seeing that the hotel might not have been in the best area I felt a little uncomfortable until I arrived inside and was surprised how clean things were and how everything was upgraded. The room was very comfortable, especially the bathroom (clean). The price was reasonable. I forgot the lady name at the front desk but she was awesome. I will def return back to this hotel. N I didn't give it 5 stars because of area that surrounds it is not that great. Aw I must say that it is pretty much near everything and that's what I like.

I'm always a little nervous when I book a Holiday Inn Express room in Los Angeles. They are usually on a busy street by a freeway and not located in the best of neighborhoods. This one is no different. It is however clean and met my expectations. The bed was comfortable and didn't notice any traffic noise. It is also very close to LAX which was the reason I staid here in the first place. Very convenient. The parking situation is a little bad here though. It's a garage but traffic can only flow in one direction so there is a possibility of some close calls with other vehicles going around a corner. Most of the spots I saw were way small too. Really hard to get in and out of.

However no complaints about this place really. Besides, it was free with my reward points.

The hotel was pretty decent in terms of the rooms and service.

However, (and I swear I'm not a raging environmental activist), even still, I was pretty disgusted by how much polystyrene this place uses. Seriously, it's been how long since McDonalds stopped wrapping Big Macs in this crap?

Still, this place uses it for their coffee cups, plates, bowls, all kindsa stuff. It never bio degrades, and it leaches toxic substances that guests (like me and you) ingest. I think I'd stay some place else just to keep this crap off my conscience. I mean, are paper cups and plates that expensive???

Seriously, a ten-year old girl convinced Jamba Juice to change. Get with the program, Holiday Inn!

Front desk staff service is terrible. The hotel looks old and smelly. Really need a make over. If I did not have an early flight, I would avoid this place.

As luck would have it, we found a Holiday Inn Express near Loyola Marymount were we had plan to spend the weekend watching college ball.  We have stayed at other Holiday Inn Express in other cities, so knew that the quality would be good.  And this place held true to our prior experiences.

The room was fresh, clean, and spacious. The price was in the base range we like and it was close to our planned activities for the area.  The parking lot was big and free!  There was even a free breakfast which we skipped only because we had other plans.

So if we head back to this area again, I am sure we'd stay here again.

Holiday Inn Express was a great accommodating hotel. I was staying in this hotel because my husband and I planned a secret elopement and wanted to be near Santa Monica Beach and near the highways and city. The hotel is within a few miles from the airport and conveniently located near Los Angeles and we even drove to San Diego. The breakfast is delicious and FREE and you cannot beat the deals. The breakfast changed slightly daily but there were large cinnamon rolls that were warm and waiting for us every morning ;).......The staff was polite and friendly. We didn't spend much time analyzing the hotel as we were enjoying being newlyweds and our vacation but if your looking for a hotel nearby that is reasonable inexpensive with free parking, free breakfast, and close to the highways then this is the hotel for you. Almost forgot if you go out late at night the parking maybe hard to find but staff is willing to accommodate guests as needed with parking elsewhere on the premises. Overall our stay at this hotel was GREAT and I was sad to leave but we were off on our road trip to VEGAS!!!

    GREAT Location to Everything:
5 Minutes away from the LAX Airport and a QUICK drive to Venice Beach. The location of the hotel will also allow your navigator app to use  *alternative routes through neighborhoods to avoid nightmare traffic on the 405 Interstate on weekends. Good drive to Hollywood, Olvera Street, Little Tokyo.  It's also 2 or 3 minutes away from the Enterprise Rental Car location.

FREE Breakfast, Parking and Wi-Fi: SAVE MONEY!
Let's be honest, L.A. is REALLY expensive! You will SAVE A LOT OF MONEY by taking advantage of the complimentary Hotel BUFFET BREAKFAST and FREE daily parking.  It's included with your room and less things you have to worry about everyday. They will give you a print-out piece of paper to sign and to put on your car dashboard for daily overnight parking.

Everyday wake-up between 6:30am-9:30am to eat breakfast. If you're on vacation and have several things to do, the buffet will keep you full for HOURS to do what you need to do and not have to pull over for something to eat.

    Customer Service and Cleanliness:
Everyone is really friendly. The front desk even printed out directions for us to get to Venice Beach to avoid the Interstate traffic. I had a Waze Navigator App but still the fact they would even go that far is really generous to people who have never been on the West coast before.

This is not a luxury or rich spot but pleasant. They change the bed sheets everyday, throw out the trash, replace all shampoos and lotions with new ones daily. (Like many hotels but still, it's great).

The room was spacious and clean.  The front desk clerk was quick, informative and very polite.  Free parking and free wifi are always great.  There is a McDonalds right across the street and a Sizzlers on the corner. Great, convenient location.

The walls seemed so thin that I could hear everything going on around me.  Still, that's not a deal breaker for me.

This hotel is not in the same standards I've had from this chain.    The room was bare. Linens were not even close to being anything of quality. The room isn't even close to what the pictures show even tho I asked and paid  for  an upgraded room.

The lady at the desk told me my credit card was declined which totally shocked me.   I got to my senses and asked to retry.  Without even taking my card to try again she said oh, it went thru.   HUH?
Everything in the area look as tho it's not safe but was reassured it was safe to
walk around the corner.  Everything is locked up and cameras everywhere.
Couldn't even  use the iron right to press a shirt because it was so locked up.

I won't be using this hotel again.  There are other hotels I'll be using  near here

We stayed at this Holiday Inn three nights in March 2014.

    What was good:
    - Walking distance to Metro station.
    - Heated pool was pleasant.
    - LAX Diner across the street delivers delicious food.
    - Flat screen TV in room with HDMI ports easily accessible in the back
    - Refrigerator and Coffee Pot in room.

    What was not good:
    - The wifi was unusably slow the entire stay.
    - Parking is an absolute mess. You have to park in temporary parking, check in, then park in a garage that is cramped and has no elevators. I ended up having to haul a suitcase down two flights of stairs.
    - Our room, and the hotel in general, had a funky smell the entire stay.
    - Despite ordering a room with two Queen beds, the room we got clearly did not have Queen sized beds, however they seemed larger than a Double, so I'm not sure what they were.
    - There was absolutely no water pressure for showering.
    - Computers in the business center were infected with tons of malware (hmm, wonder if this is why the wifi was slow...)
    - The advertised 'hot' breakfast was little more than a usual continental breakfast, plus some grim looking eggs and sausage, and a pancake machine. I didn't eat any of the breakfast food, but the coffee I got from the breakfast bar was lukewarm.

We chose to stay here because it is a Holiday Inn, and we've had good experiences with Holiday Inns in the past. This one was an absolute failure, and we even contemplated asking for our money back and changing hotels for the last two nights. I would never stay at this hotel again or recommend it for anyone.

Average chain location. Not as nice as website photos indicate. Sketchy neighborhood but they do have night security guard. Free breakfast & wi-fi. A little farther from LAX than I thought. Probably wont book here again.

We stayed here over night on our way to Fiji. The hotel lobby was clean and nicely decorated. Our room was better than expected. The beds were comfortable. The hotel restaurant had excellent food at a reasonable price. We enjoyed a great dinner and lunch there during our stay.

The best part of our stay was the friendly staff. Joe, the concierge set us up with a wonderful tour of downtown LA so we could maximize our short time in the city. He was very kind and personable. He allowed us to keep our luggage there while on the tour. We had some time to kill between the noon check out time and our two o'clock tour. Ian at the front desk allowed us to keep our room until 2 so we could relax before leaving at no extra charge.

If your in LA for a quick stay, I definitely recommend the Holiday Inn at LAX.

I stayed here a few weeks before Christmas 2013. I guess I can say, it's a place to spend the night and that's it! Not the day, not the week. JUST ONE NIGHT!

The hotel location seems sketchy that I'm even afraid to walk outside in the daytime. The front driveway seems REALLY cramp that, what looks like a round about end up being a parking lot because one end was blocked by their shuttles.

The staff (at the time I was checking in) was really nice and informative. They got through the check in process with ease and I got my room key with in 5 mins. I guess that's the ONLY plus in my experience.

When I got to the hallway to my room, the cleaning people were just standing around and chatting away blocking the hallway for me to pass and when I asked to get by, they looked at me like I flashed them with my crouch and just turned away and continued to chat away as I moved their cleaning cart aside to get by.

When I got to my room, it smelled like cigarettes! Despite the room being non-smoking, it smelled like cigarettes! The pillow smelled like cigarettes! The covers smelled like cigarettes! The blankets smelled like cigarettes! The room smelled like cigarettes! WHAT THE FLYING F*CK?!

There's no mini frig & no microwave so there's no point bringing back leftovers from lunch or dinner.

The internet is so slow that you're better off using your phone data to get some work done.

Just the one day I stayed here and only the staff's professionalism that I enjoyed. Everything else, it's more like, "you get what you paid for," cheap price for hotel yields cheap experince

Stayed they're two nights within a week as I departed and in and out of the US. Very convenient to LAX. Great shuttle service, he even took us to In-and-Out burger! The hotel rooms were tired and a bit musty. The sheets were old and rough and somewhat pilled so that's why the three stars, the bedding didn't feel crisp and fresh. Morning coffee and breakfast was decent.

I am not overly impressed with this hotel.

I haven't spent a ton of time in hotels, but I know a nice one when I see one. I'd like to put this review into a list format, as to keep myself from ranting.

    WHAT I LIKED:

    -The wifi was free
    -The parking was free
    -The staff was friendly
-The staff respected my 24/7 "do not disturb" sign.
-They had free breakfast which offered a few vegetarian options.

    WHAT I DID NOT LIKE:

-The wifi was slower than me in college math
-The hotel is in a sketchy area (I picked the hotel so this is essentially my fault)
-The room titles are misleading. You would expect and executive suite to be the ritz. If you like your pillows to smell like piss & shit, this is your ritz.
-The WHOLE place smells like aggressively used crayons.
-You had to be borderline genius to lock the bathroom door in my room
    -No fridge in the room
-The yogurt at breakfast was warm. Wtf.

I am neither thrilled not absolutely disgusted with my stay, so I'll give the place three stars.

We have stayed here 3 times and won't come back
The staff was great the rooms were clean
    However the management was bad
Two out of three times one elevator was broken so I had to take the stairs .Two out of three times I had to call about the toilet was stopped up not my fault it was from the room next door one time we had to move to another room
I called to see where the tv guide is and she said oh we didn't get any this month? ??? What.
    Breakfast there was no yogurt
The news paper down in the lobby was a hit and missing
So if you do stay there don't stay above the 3 floor

This Holiday Inn was pretty darn good - the front desk staff (particularly Carlos) were very entertaining and helpful as far as recommending dinner nearby. (I walked to Jino's Pars right down the block and didn't fear for my safety - the neighborhood isn't THAT bad!) The free breakfast was nice (Chobani Greek yogurt a plus) and the room was clean. Minor gripe is that there was an issue with my door key which maintenance promptly fixed. I still had difficulty getting in later, but not enough to ruin my stay. Not a bad spot for those flying out the next morning.

This Holiday Inn is on lock-down...for real! I've stayed at several HI's in the past few months and this one takes the security cake. There are gates and key card swipers and cameras galore. It made me anxious.

The room was ok although the hallways had a horrible, residual smoke smell even though the rooms are non-smoking.

I travelled with a friend and we were disappointed to learn there were no accommodations available for two beds so we shared a king. If we wanted a roll-away, it was an extra $10.00. Same charges for parking, $18.00...so much for 'Name Your Own Price.'

The bedding was thin. It didn't bother me because I'm always hot, but the friend was constantly freezing. Also, she likes to take a bath. I've been waiting 30 minutes for the tub to drain so I can shower. Not cool. Towels suck too.

I know, I know it's the Holiday Inn...what did I expect? I expected the same quality of service for the LA price that I've received at other HI's, but this hotel just didn't deliver.

On a positive note, the check-in staff we encountered were super friendly and helpful.

We only chose this area for a hotel to avoid traffic for our morning departure out of LAX.

We stayed here for four nights at this location and were happy with our stay.

First, the location is ok - it's close to the airport and pretty central to all the places we had planned to go (Camarillo, Cabazon, West Hollywood, Santa Monica etc.) The surrounding area wasn't that fancy but there was a Starbucks 2 minutes away, two grocery stores, and only a 15 minute drive to Westfield center?

The room was great - only downfall was that there was no microwave and mini fridge like the last HI we stayed at in SFO. The bathroom here was WAYYY better though because of how big it was. The sink provided lots of counter space for me to set up all my girly things and still there was room for my boyfriend's stuff haha. TV was good, clean carpets, this one had your standard air con/heat apparatus under the window so we'd turn the fan on at night to avoid waking up hot and stuffy.

Breakfast was good - they have Oikos greek yogurt at this HI!!!! This one definitely helped the star rating haha for those of you that don't know it's super yummy greek yogurt that is not cheap at the grocery store either! The funny thing is, we happened to see one last container in the fridge on our first morning there, the subsequent mornings they weren't put out for people to help themselves. We actually had to ask the staff for some. I guess this was their way of stopping people from taking more than they should? We found it pretty funny but I guess it could also be crappy for people who didn't know that it was even available. Everything else was standard, they didn't have bacon at this location which my boyfriend was more disappointed in but I didn't mind so much - they still had the turkey sausages, scrambled eggs, hard boiled, bread, muffins etc. Hot coffee and tea were also available.

This location had no other entrances except for the front door, and two really slow escalators which we found kind of annoying because we don't mind taking stairs and a closer door to our rooms when we stay at hotels. Other HI's that we've stayed in have had side entrances or back doors that we can swipe to get into that are closer to our rooms.

The parking situation here is pretty bad - we had to drive around in circles sometimes to wait for one to empty up.... one night an employee actually came out and moved his car so that we could park lol. It was nice of him but still not the ideal situation.

Overall I would stay here again - we got a relatively average price and the value was good in our opinion.

Super clean.  But, no fridge in the room.  They charge $10 for a fridge.  Really close to the airport.  Parking is a pain though.  Fast food places nearby.  Bath & Body Works products in the bathroom.

For a Holiday Inn, it's not too bad. Some of the rooms and decor is rather dated, but it has several redeeming qualities. First the staff here is exceptional... in fact, better than most other high-end hotels. We were assisted promptly with room key malfunctions and other small matters, and they gave us well-wished greetings as we came and went during our stay.

They have complimentary breakfast but it ends super early (9 AM) and I only caught it once during our 2-night stay here. No biggie, however, because it consisted of mainly processed foods which I try to avoid in any case. Overall it was nothing special, but given its close proximity to LAX, it's cleanliness, and basic comfort for a quick night's stay, a solid 3.5 experience.

Have stayed here a couple of times, only to catch a flight in the morning.  Facility is decent enough, however the bed frame did not seem solid and mattress could have given better support, but was good enough to catch some sleep before my long flight.  Early departure has not allowed me the opportunity to stay for the continental breakfast.

The convenience factor for this place brings its own star to make at least a 4 star rating.  The rental car return is literally around the block, the hotel shuttle picked us up from the rental return, and in the morning drops us at the airport which is about a 10 minute ride, door to door.
    Very nice.
