Amazing location right around the corner from Hollywood Blvd!  Affordable but still pretty nice.  The decor has an old Hollywood theme with some art deco touches and we thought the whole hotel was super cute.  And the room (we had a 2-queen suite) had a makeup mirror with the lights like in a dressing room which was AWESOME for getting ready.  Definitely a great deal!

kiiiiinda sketchy. ok, not kinda- this joint is sketchy. but in a kiiiinda cool wacky way. a bit run down.

but that's ok, if you don't care about where you're sleeping and are in LA just to party.

all i remember was our room was gray and burgundy and had this creepy mural on the wall of the wizard of oz.

but it's pretty close to everything, so that's a plus. i mean, don't get me wrong- it wasn't freaky freak show-ish, just kinda odd...

The location is superb, the staff's really good, and the rooms are clean.  Star deducted for thin walls.  But a great deal for the money.

We stayed here for one night in spring of 2010. We were in San Diego, but it was my ex's first time in California, so we took a mini road trip up to see the crazy sights at Venice/Santa Monica/Hollywood and stayed over here for one night.

It's a small, cozy hotel and the service we received was friendly - No issues here. We got a welcome bag upon our check-in, which was a nice gesture - Some bottled water, bags of veggie straws, etc. For our one night stay, the hotel served its purpose and the room was great. Everything was very neat and clean.

There were a few cons, as other reviewers have mentioned, such as a serious lack of parking (I honestly don't think there's more than 15 spaces in the VERY tight lot - Took me several tries to park between cars without hitting anything and I'm used to city driving!) and, oddly enough, a serious lack of an elevator in the hotel. I understand that its a small boutique hotel, but lugging around our bags and suitcases up and down the stairs was an unexpected work-out that neither of us were too excited for after driving for a couple of hours and catching some L.A. traffic :).

However, that shouldn't deter anyone from staying here. Point blank, for the rate, you will not find any better location! Once you DO find parking, stay there - Hollywood Blvd. is literally one block down, so everything is either within walking distance OR you can pick up a cab right there to take you where you need to go. Everything was very clean and the hotel decor was cute.

The Hollywood Celebrity Hotel is definitely not a bad place. Like I said, we stayed here a night and it certainly served its purpose and fulfilled our expectations. Parking was a royal bitch but the service was good. For the location, you won't find a less expensive place to hang your hat and being within such short walking distance to Hollywood Blvd, the Chinese theatre, the Roosevelt Hotel and the Hollywood & Highland shopping center is well worth it.

And besides, if you're right there in the middle of everything, why would you want to stay inside your hotel room all day anyways?! For us, it was a place to sleep, change our clothes and shower in between sight-seeing and exploring the nightlife and beaches - And it worked out quite well.

Stayed here for a week with my mom while we were taking care of some business in the area. We got the John Wayne room, pretty spacious and very clean! The beds were comfortable and the room more then adequate for what we needed.

The staff was all very friendly, everyone we talked to all week  was super helpful and nice about whatever we needed. This place was also literally walking distance to where we needed to be almost all week, which was awesome! Not to mention way cheaper then anything else in the area!

Nitpicks that keep it from being four stars - Ice machine only on the second floor?

And parking is ridiculous. There's usually never any street parking in front of it, there's only a tiny lot behind the hotel. If you get in late, you have to hand over your keys to the front desk staff, because you end up having to park your car through the middle of the parking area, blocking in the people that are already parked. On the opposite end, if you do get in early and have a parking spot, and then want to leave later or early in the morning, make sure you give the staff time to get out there and move the other cars out of the way so you can leave. Total hassle!

3.5 stars--Some friends and I stayed here for NYE.  Our room had 2 queen beds, a small kitchen that included eating and drinking stuff, mini fridge, 3 sinks total, vanity mirror, ironing board/iron, hair dryer, hidden tv, and open closet. The wall had a great wizard of oz painting stenciled on- loved it. Beds were comfy enough. Didn't get to try their breakfast though. :[  The lobby decor is nice. You know how some hotel/motels have that funky musty smell? Well Hollywood Celebrity Hotel smelled fresh and so clean clean. I would def choose to stay again if I wanted to party it up in LA since it was walking distance to Hollywood and Highlands.
Heard the water temp control was whack
Light switches for the bathroom were on the outside..I don't know why.
gave 2 weird looking room keys
gave only 1 parking spot in the back (other cars have to park in the stx, I think we paid 10 for overnight parking)

~ Location, location, location: this is a block from Hollywood Blvd. & within walking distance of a LOT of stuff, even for someone with bad knees (whose preferred walking distance is much shorter than the average person).
~ Price: Not a bad deal for a suite with a kitchen, & 2 king beds, one in a separate bedroom.
~Free breakfast: Coffee & muffins/croissants, what a great way to start the day..and for free, even.
~ Cute building: Loved the art deco design & the celebrity posters (classic celebs, not today's pop culture fame whores) on the walls of the hallway, & the room was decent sized.

~Accessibility (or lack thereof): Stairs, stairs, stairs. When your mobility is limited AND you've driven hundreds of miles to get there (meaning there's a full (heavy) cooler & bags of food/road munchies to drag along on top of the usual luggage), the last thing you want to do is schlep tons of baggage up step after step. They didn't even have a luggage cart for when we did get the stuff up, because the hotel has stairs all the way to the back. Ugh. Not sure how they're actually legal, either, as I thought hotels had to provide for the disabled & there was no elevator or ramp to be seen. I heard there was a back door, but the whole back entrance was full of old furniture, so I don't imagine that was a valid entrance (our window looked out onto that, I'll post the pic..such a lovely view).
~Paper thin walls: I was awakened at about 2:40am by a herd of drunk people presumably returning after the bars closed..I could've really done without them and the couple fornicating loudly in the room next door.
~ Dingy, just dingy: There were bleach stains on the bedspread, dirt and dings all over the walls, the carpet was dirty, the shower was just laughably old & grungy, the doorframe into the room was so beat up looked like someone had taken a hammer to it, the tv stand in the bedroom was a cheap assemble-yourself hunk of junk like you'd buy at WalMart, the paint was peeling in several places, and get this: there were signs taped to the walls. Yes, taped..very tacky, folks. At least make the effort to put them in frames or something, but mass produced printouts taped to the walls screams SEEDY (I took pics, will add them to the photos).
~Water temp in the shower: you'd have thought we were at home the way the water went hot and cold while you were in the shower..maybe investing in some industrial water heaters might help out, there, guys. VERY uncool to be scalded in the shower for no apparent reason.

I can only find it in me to give this place 2 stars; don't claim to be a boutique hotel when you're really a run down motel. As the 2 star rating says, "Meh. I've experienced better."

My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night because we were doing a home exchange and needed something just for the night we got in from Chicago.

The service was great; the guy at the desk was very nice.  Location was great; it's right around the corner from the blvd.

The hotel we stayed in looked down onto a courtyard next door.  The room was sweet, with a deco painting on the wall above the headboard.  However, the sheets were too stiff, and the pillows didn't have pillow cases and were extremely thin.  They reminded me of the disposable airplane pillows.  The mattress was a little harder than I would have expected.

The bathroom was small but very clean.  The vanity, I didn't even need to use because the bathroom had way better light from the window and wall light combined.

I slept pretty well, I don't know if it was because I was completely exhausted, or well, I was just exhausted.

In the morning, I needed to check my e-mail and looked around for which Wi-Fi would work best...the hotel's Wi-Fi was SUPER slow, but to my relief, I found an ethernet cord balled up in the TV armoire...which was interesting.  I swear, it was so long I could run around the room 3 times and still have slack...WHAT.

Anyway, the complimentary breakfast was something I didn't expect.  Delicious fresh muffins, danishes, juice, coffee (decaf too) and cereal!  It was a pleasant surprise.  Consequently, there was only one chair to sit on in the lobby and eat...so my boyfriend had to stand and eat.

It was an interesting 1st experience and one day experience.  You pay for what you get.  Not bad for a last minute reso, and short stay.

    Good recession buster.

The lobby looks nice. Unfortunately that's as far as we got. My advice is to CONFIRM your reservation! We booked on hotels(dot)com but on arrival the hotel claimed they had no record of it. They mentioned half a dozen other guests had the same problem that night. They didn't offer assistance finding us another room. 1 star for not having a functional online booking system and poor customer service.  Took an hour hold with on hotels(dot)com 800# to book a nearby hotel.  Kinda killed the evening.

I'm oscillating between giving this place two or three stars, because if you're seeking a quiet hotels with nice towels, high-end bath products, and ample/valet parking, this IS NOT THE PLACE for you.

If, however, you're traveling to LA for a Chemical Brothers show at the Hollwood Bowl with one or more very loud / ADD friends and a trunkload of party favors, you should consider staying at the Hollywood Celebrity Hotel.

We arrived at 5 pm on a Sunday night, aiming for a 7 pm Bowl show.  I'd rented a two-king suite (one room with a kitchenette and king sized bed, the other with a bathroom and king sized bed) and when we arrived, there was a parking space in the back available.  [My husband later took the car to run an errand, however, and when he returned he had to park down the street at the mall.  The hotel did reimburse us for the $10 parking fee.]

We were able to walk to the Bowl from the hotel and walk home to the hotel from the Bowl.  If you've ever been mired in the Traffic Hell that is the Hollywood Bowl area before/after a show, you'll know that this, in and of itself, is a priceless feature.   I've previously stayed at the Celebrity Hotel and they offer tickets to the Magic Castle, which is across the street, which is another plus.  Magicians are weirdos who do lots of drugs, just FYI.  Fun times.

Anyway, after the Chem Bros show, we arrived back in our room and continued to play music and socialize into the wee hours of Monday morning.  We were situated pretty near the back of the hotel, so I thought we were being pretty loud when the person upstairs started banging on the floor.  However, when we walked down the hall we could hear even louder groups playing music even more loudly and screeching.  Outside, drunk people were weaving down the street, shout-talking at one another.  When we went back into our room, we realized that the person upstairs hadn't been banging on the floor because of our noise:  he/she was having a knock-down drag-out fight with his/her partner, complete with screaming, slamming doors, and stomping around and around and around and around the room.

By the time we went to bed, I was so tired I fell asleep immediately.  My husband had some trouble with the noise, but we both travel with earplugs and slept nearly till check-out time (noon).  The two-room suite was $180 - a pretty good deal for convenient Bowl access and a hotel that lets you be as crazy as you want to be, then serves you cheap hangover-killer food in the morning.

This place is a gem. It is located right next to a shopping area and around the corner from the Chinese theater. We flew in from San Jose to be tourists in Hollywood for a weekend.

We found this hotel to be the perfect location. The rooms were BIG, plasma TV's, wifi, a full kitchen, and the continental breakfast in the am kept my teenage son and his best friend full before our travels out. They served toast, croissants, bagels, yogurt, coffee, OJ and muffins.

The hotel staff was very helpful they printed our boarding passes for us and were very knowledable about things to do in the area. I felt safe walking around the hotel, loved that the shopping center was so close and would recommend this place in the future!

The room is clean, staff is nice. Looking forward to staying again.  The perfect location, we walked everywhere.  Didn't even use our car the entire weekend.

    Will stay there again.

Yikes. Tub doesn't drain. Shower is terrible. Drawers are broken. Parking lot is stacked. And there's some party going on downstairs as I type this - it's 10:30. Stained sheets. The breakfast waffles are Eggos. I have no clue how this place ranked three stars! So glad we're not staying long. I have to say that the staff is very helpful and friendly.

Stayed in the suites on a Friday/Saturday nights. Location is perfect, one block away from the Hollywood strip and famous Chinese theatre, plenty of food and necessities within walking distance and they have parking available per room in a private lot.

The rooms: clean and spacious. There were two king bedrooms, one bath, walk-in closet, makeup room and a kitchenette with all the essentials (microwave, stove, refrigerator) along with a good size dining table.

Overall great location at an affordable price.

Cool decor. Parking is a hassle though and the drain backed up in the shower (which they were concerned to hear about). I'm sure they will fix it. Free breakfast just a short walk from the center of Hollywood. Felt pretty safe here. Thin walls but overall a decent experience. Not the ritz but perfectly ok. I would return again.

Definitely do not recommend this place: strong chemical smell, tight parking area, and poor management resolution to problems.

We were excited to find what we thought was a little gem in Hollywood close to the action; what we found was a chemical trap!

The disinfectant they used caused both me and my husband to become ill; our throats burned and we both had bad headaches within 10 minutes of entering the room. We asked to move to another room - but all the rooms had that smell! After an hour of looking for a new room, we missed our dinner with my family and were not able to rest before the concert we were seeing that night. We found a room at another hotel nearby and received a full refund. We were told we could leave our car parked in their lot for the trouble - and since we originally paid for it! However, they called us back within 30 minutes of leaving asking us to move our car or pay the attendant another $10 ??? When we came to pick up our car, they had it blocked in by three employee's cars.

This is a true diamond in the rough. The location s right behind the Hollywood & Highland center, hidden and tucked away on Orchid Ave (you can walk from the H&H center to the hotel via a "secret" passageway without having to walk ALL THE WAY AROUND the building/complex. :)

The hotel has it's amenities and good size, kinda odd galley layout but it works for the area. Parking is TIGHT here, better learn how to back into an angled space well or you'll be stuck trying to get out of the driveway - and let's face it, this is LA after all, no one's letting you through - you gotta be aggressive!

    oh, free wifi, that's a plus. :)

I love the Art Deco design of this place, but the room is so saturated with chemicals that I can barely breathe!
A note to the management....usually only LOW class hotels use such a strong smelling chemical to cover the fact that the place isn't clean.  Thank god I brought an inhaler!
    I'll never be back.

BOOK WITH CONFIDENCE! The rooms are clean and spacious,  The staff is so friendly and accommodating!  The kitchen is so handy.  It is so close to Dolby, shopping, and Hollywood tourist sites.  This is a great choice for a nostalgic Hollywood feel.  It will always be my first choice when in the area because it made our trip full of great memories! Thank you   Hollywood Celebrity!!  See you next May!
