ok, i stayed here a long time ago when it was a crappy holiday inn or something and even then, i liked the place!  but, recently i went on a date to the bar at the top and i really enjoyed the bar.  i don't know ifi would go out of my way to go here again but it was a fun place with decent views, good drinks, great service, and and interesting set up.  there were lots of sunken areas -- and we all know i am a big fan of the "secret" spots and "private" and "anonymous" areas, so that was a big plus for me.  i enjoyed the bar a lot and if you stay here, definitely check it out.

we drove from austin, texas to hotel angeleno.

we booked a tour in california that kicked off in LA.  we decided to get a decent hotel with pleasing decor since we were making the long drive and unloading equipment each night on the way into dank, dirty, uncomfortable trucker motel rooms at 1am.  when we finally arrived at hotel angeleno, we were in heaven.  the front desk folks were friendly and helped us get our multiple loads of music equipment up to our room.  the beds were fabulous!  we had a king and it felt like an ocean.  the rooms were small, but comfortable and each had a balcony.  i have no idea what the hotel looked like before the remodel, but now it's covered in nice browns and light blue hues.  very calming;  not an icky flower-covered bedspread in sight!

since visiting, i've noticed this hotel is often used in shots of LA on television and film.  it's round and tall and off the 405.

we stayed 3 nights with our bandmate and her husband just a few floors away.  we met each morning at the pool for espresso and pastries.  they have a little coffee bar downstairs with a serving window that opens out to the pool.  we loved the small intimate pool area, it was very relaxing.  there was also a small business room with a few computers for guests to use free of charge.  it was helpful when we were trying to find places to eat nearby.

speaking of places to eat...the restaurant on the top floor of the hotel is awful.  i do suggest you go up there for the view.  sit at the bar during sunset and have a drink.  that is what we did the first night.  i wish we had left it at that.  the 2nd night we made a reservation with our friends for dinner.  it's an amazing space, but the food is not up to par.  there weren't many choices for vegetarians, but since i'm a fish eater, i went for the fish.  i ordered half a dozen oysters.  i have eaten 3 dozen oysters in one sitting before and i was in los angeles at a fancy hotel, so i should be fine, right?  NO.  i ate the first one and it tasted odd.  i thought maybe it was just a type of oyster i had never tried before.  so, i ate a 2nd oyster.  i couldn't finish it.  i spit it out and sent the rest back.  the waitress was annoyed with me since i had already asked numerous questions about dishes trying to find something to eat without dairy in it (i'm very allergic).  since everything had dairy in it, i went for the oysters.

fast forward 2 hours.  we were watching the first band of the night, gearing up for our set.  i felt a little spacey, but just thought it was because it was warm inside the club.  we played our set and as soon as we hit the last note, i looked at our roadie who rushed up to help us and remember him looking at me like i didn't look so good.  15 minutes later i was projectile vomiting in the parking lot of the club.  i think i vomited about 25 times.  seriously.  i tried to puke in the plastic bags we had in the car, but it was too much.  i am small.  i had no idea anyone could puke that much.  one of my bandmates had to take me back to the hotel so i could lie down.  as soon as i got out of her car in front of the hotel i had to run over to a corner and puke again as she handed off her keys to the valet.  they probably all thought i was wasted and i wanted to yell "your restaurant made me sick", but i could barely stop puking to get in the elevator and go to my room.

this reveiw would probably be 4 or 5 stars if the hotel or restaurant had done ANYTHING to remedy the situation when i told them about it.

stay at the hotel.  don't eat at the restaurant.

First night, the valet's attitude earns this place one star.  We'll see how it goes for the rest of the stay . . .

This is a review of West, the restaurant bar on top of the hotel.Although pricey, the location and view affords the romantic ambience lacking at most L.A. restaurants. I recommend appetizers and drinks in the lounge area.  Great way to kick back and get close to someone.
The staff was friendly .

Wow!  It is two in the morning and I am looking out my window at 4 bull-dozers and not even remotely hoping to sleep.   They should not be charging full price - or even close - for their rooms during this time - there is no escaping the construction.  I was asked if i wanted to switch rooms...where to?  Every single one faces onto a full construction zone which is going until 5 in the morning. I generally love Joie de Vivre Hotels...but whoever chose the location for this one was dreaming.  Yes, close to the Getty, near UCLA but pretty much *on* the 405 - not only the 405, but the 405 undergoing a full overhaul.  I got hot, turned on the AC and it is much louder than the freeway....for real?  The hotel restaurant is pretty cool, the rooms fairly stylish but not in a way that another boutique style hotel wouldn't offer and mine was kind of musty.....maybe the funky AC system?  There is nothing within walking distance.  The customer service has so far been great. The restaurant and bar are cool, but go there...don't stay at the hotel.  I would probably give them 2 or 3 stars if it weren't for the noise.

My husband and I spent a weekend in Los Angeles in early March, and we stayed at Hotel Angeleno.  The location of the hotel is excellent, close to many cities and attractions, and the room prices are very competitively priced.
Our room was very clean, tastefully decorated and furnished, and the bed was exceptionally comfortable.  We also had a wonderful view of Los Angeles from our little balcony.
The staff was very friendly, and the service good, especially in the restaurant and the bar.  Enjoying dinner and drinks at the hotel's 17th floor restaurant at night was quite a unique experience with the beautiful surrounding views.
We look forward to staying at Hotel Angeleno again on our next visit!

I remember as a kid, driving along the 405 and seeing this hotel.  I'm pretty sure back then it was a Holiday Inn.  It always seemed like it would be a fabulous place to stay, and probably expensive.  I was right.  I will overlook the $18 a night valet parking, I will.  I will only think about how gorgeous this hotel is, and all the great amenities that came with the room I stayed in with my friends.  High thread count sheets, flat screen TV, heated pool, friendly and helpful staff.  Even though the bathroom was small, the extra towels, spiffy bath products and hair dryer were a big help to my forgetful self.  I would stay again.

I stayed here the other day and I have to say that I was pretty impressed by this place. I scored through hotwire and it was rated a 3.5 star hotel, but I definitely think they should upgrade it to 4 stars. It's in Brentwood, a posh neighborhood and super close to the Getty Center and UCLA. The room wasn't really big, but the darker wood interior made it feel so inviting and cozy. I love the bed as well..so comfy! The staff was very nice, the room service was quick, but the only reason why I'm not giving them 5 stars is because my room had a stand up shower only....I like taking baths whenever I stay at a hotel!

Went last year when they were renovating-and it was a disaster!  No pool, no gym and no food...stuck in the middle of no where!  Parking is valet only and I had to move rooms twice because of plumping issues.  The hotel is newly renovated to look like a W hotel but the materials they use are cheap and very Ikea-ish....I am sure in a few years, you can see some real deterioration of the place as I was there when everything was brand new and already things were falling apart.
Booked this place through hotwire and my bf had to get a partial refund for our miserable stay.  I am sure now with the renovations completed it could be better but the location just sucks...there was shuttle service which I did use to go to UCLA to utilize the gym..but it was still far.

Great hotel for the north side of LA, before you go over the hill into the Valley.  Close to the Getty and UCLA.  Service was excellent at the restaurant and valet parking, but the front desk folks had no idea that construction blocked off the street the hotel fronts on, Church Ln, just south of the hotel, so negotiating Sunset during Carmageddon was frustrating.  Décor was lovely, beds were GREAT, with a pillowtop, although I'm not a fan of down pillows.  The amenities in the bathroom were wonderful, and the in-room coffee in the drip maker, a Wolfgang Puck label, was very adequate.  Porcelain coffee mugs and glass tumblers, too, not the plastic junk.  The bar was well stocked, the restaurant was good (except the oatmeal--watery when I had it) and the coffee never stopped coming.  Workout room had free weights, weight bench, elliptical, treadmill, semi-recumbent bike, yoga pads, lemon-flavored water, apples in a bowl, and a lovely view of the sheltered outdoor pool area.  Wine in the lobby from 5:30-6:30 every night we were there.  Staff seemed nice without the veneer of California obsequiousness that so many other places seem to mandate employees show.

Drawbacks: two shower settings--hot and cold.  This was the case with 3 other guests in our party.  Some road noise, since this hotel looms above the 405.  The AC is a little too rickety to act either as a good AC, or a white noise machine sufficient to cover the road noise below.  We were on the 12th floor facing the 405.  Only 2 elevators, which sometimes made the wait a little long, especially if you don't want to take the stairs in a skirt and heels.  Housekeeping didn't come until after 4pm, which makes it hard to get ready for dinner/events unless you like feeling rushed.  Ironing board and iron were cheap and flimsy, and didn't work well.  Not a lot of plugs handy for charging electronic gear.  Flatscreen TV was a little small for the distance from the bed to the wall where it was hanging.  And I don't want to insinuate, but after we checked in, we got a fraud alert from Amex, the same card we used to guarantee the room.  It may be a coincidence, but the hotel was the only place we used the card until we got gas a couple days after checking in....

Would I stay here again?  Probably not for the price.  We got a special for booking with a wedding rate, as a lot of the guests seemed to be doing as well.  I would rather stay closer to the beach.  However, the convenience and level of food from the in-house restaurant was pretty damn good.  I would definitely recommend for an out of town stay, either for the aforementioned wedding stay, or for the art trip.

well appointed rooms. the higher floor, the better.  friendly staff.  only minus was valet took a while and i'm pretty sure they dinged our rental, but the hotel itself is as good as any jdv hotel.  we waited for our car to be retrieved from valet with a hollywood celeb, so it is probably considered chic and classy. location is not great, it's right off the 405 and quite desolate - but just a drive from some of my fave restaurants on sunset.

Noise is a big problem with this hotel. It is located next to the highway. Don't open the window if you want to block the noise.
The AC is old style and making loud noise. So, either you want highway noise (open your window) or AC noise.
No shower gel provided.  Body lotion is provided upon request.
Lousy job in housekeeping - no fresh towel, bath rug was gone after the first night!
I will not stay there again and would not recommend this hotel.

Suggested this place to out of town friends who were visiting.  They liked it, nice "W" hotel type decor, the bar at the top has an awesome view of the city and for me it's right in Brentwood/closeby.  Valet parking is the only optoin for visitors.

This is a really great hotel , clean , trendy and in a great location.  This place has the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in.  Very friendly staff as well.  Parking is all valet which I find annoying but pretty common in these places.  Maybe I would give it five stars if I tried the restaurant at the top of the hotel.  I read some prior reviews on small rooms , go for the executive suite, it is a bit bigger and not expensive at all.  On hotels.com this place was $99 and I only booked it 24 hours before.  The executive suite upgrade was all of $4.00 extra

the former holiday inn has been completely renovated with w hotel like interior and upscale atmosphere...sits towering over the 405 in the brentwood/bel air area......only 5 minutes from ucla...mircro upscale rooms...cramp for most....upgraded interiors didn't hide the fact that the structure and layout was still a holiday inn....mircro gym...nice modern comtemporary pool....penthouse bar/dining upstairs...great bar menu in the lounge for less pricey and casual dining...great burger!...nice interior and atmosphere masking a 2 star building structure....slowest twin of elevators and forever wait...2014 and already showing some age or peeling wallpaper and loose fixtures...

I had the opportunity to stay at the Hotel Angeleno in LA, CA for 3 days 2 nights.  From the time I arrived at the valet to the leaving in the AM.  Very classy establishment.  The staff was very friendly and accommodating.  Modern decor through out.  Had king size bed with a great view and a quiet room and I was next to the elevator.  Rooms are very nice, clean and comfortable, had everything I needed.  Great customer service with all the employees.  Dine at the hotel restaurant, a perfect example of fine dining, food was excellent.  The accommodations was worth the price.  I would stay at this hotel again.  Pons

My bf and i just stayed at the hotel angeleno for a 5-day/4-night stay.   it was very clean and seemed well managed; there was minimal foot-traffic within the hotel which was nice.  desk was very helpful when needed, valet was quick with the car, and housekeeping was very meticulous.

however, we got the hotel for a 50% off fall sale off of hotels.com .  otherwise, i dont think it would have been worth the price tag of the room.  valet is expensive but i cant fault them for that - im pretty sure its the typical going rate at hotels in the los angeles area from what ive researched.   i was worried about the noise, but the staff was very accomodating when I requested a room facing away from the traffic.  I did not get to check out the amenities such as the pool or gym, so no comment on those.

i think i could have given the hotel 4 stars; however, I knocked off a star because we had issues with housekeeping a couple mornings.  they were incredibly loud cleaning the adjoining rooms in the morning - waking us up with banging doors and keeping at it for over half an hour.  (for comparison's sake - we never heard a peep when the guests were actually occupying the room).  however, one call to the front desk and the situation was remedied, no problem.

another issue we had with housekeeping was that they barged into the room TWICE.  admittedly they knocked, but we specifically said "PLEASE DONT COME IN" and they came in anyway to continue conversation and ask us when we were leaving!  the first time i thought asking would be enough but since it obviously wasnt, the second time i put a "privacy please" sign on the door and it still happened.  talk about invasion of privacy.. that had never happened to me before at any other hotel, even if there was no privacy sign on the door.

however, it resolved itself (didnt happen again) and we were overall happy with our stay there.  im going to give them the benefit of doubt and chalk it up to a weird shift...

Just had my sister's 30th birthday party there, and it was pretty pricey for what it was. Valet guy gave my sis' friend trouble and wanted to charge her 20 bucks for Valet, when she wasn't going to stay there. it's 7 bucks for valet if you get a drink at the lounge and get your ticket validated. My sis got a $400 suite and it wasn't all that impressive. Lounge food was super small and expensive. 6 fl oz of Ice tea is 4 bucks. Ordered room service and didn't come for a long time and I had to call again. The shower had a sauna section, which was out of order. The sink drain broke, called maintenance to get it fixed. Anything good? yeah the bed is super comfy, the lounge is all the way on the top of the hotel and you get to see a nice view of L.A., waitress/front desk guy were nice, and the DJ looked like Tiga, who was pretty good, and the bartender made me a perfect SoCo Lime.

The beds so comfy, we actually called Simmons and inquired about buying one.  I've stayed in LA several times and I am so glad Hotels.com found this last minute deal for us.  We paid only $99 when the usual going rate is $200/night plus $18 for mandatory valet parking which was pretty annoying, but seems to be pretty standard in the area.  My favorite thing about the hotel besides the flat screen TV is the free internet!!  I can't understand why any hotel has the audacity to charge for internet.  Reading other reviews, I am not surprised this was previously a Holiday Inn because the hotel is located right off the 405 Freeway and the soundproofing is God awful.  I wear earplugs in hotels, so this wasn't an issue for me but I can see it posing a potential problem for other light sleepers out there who aren't prepared to handle the noise level.   The location is PERFECT because you can get anywhere you need to be in the LA area within 10 minutes (with no traffic, of course)  Hotel Angeleno met all our needs, I won't stay anywhere else in LA ever again.

Very posh hotel...  Nicely designed and decorated, but beware... looks can be deceiving.  Now, I hardly want to complain because hey - this is a nice hotel.  The beds are AMAZING (main reason for the 4 stars) with their pillow tops, fluffy pillows, and down comforters.  They even leave you truffles and a welcome card with your name handwritten on the envelope... aw, how i feel so welcome.  But when it comes to the showers - i despise thee.  The shower temp goes from scorching hot to freezing cold every 2 minutes or so.  I kid you not.  EVERY TWO MINUTES.  And it wasn't just our room.  Other guests had the same complaint!  One of our neighbors down the hall had a broken phone (we could hear him on the line but he couldn't hear us) AND a non-working wide screen tv.  Another had a broken door.  My roomie described it best when she said that this hotel "isn't all there."

But hey, at least there was a pool (although a bit small, it's better than having no pool at all!) and the location was close enough to Hollywood, UCLA, and shopping of course!

Busier than I expected for a rainy Wednesday evening, the bar we nonetheless comfortable.  The atmosphere was good, but seemed to be geared toward entertaining small groups with its seating arrangement, rather than couples or singles.  Staff was friendly, valet parking seemed unnecessary; the food looked good and had small portions.  I would not take a date here, but I would do a double date.  The weekend may be different, but this did not seem like a good place to meet people.  It would be better suited for a group looking to relax with some food and drink.

We used priceline and thus got a great price on the place. Yes, you pay for valet parking, but guess what, the internet access is free! Comfy beds, nice location. All for under 80 bucks, for us! Only knock? a maid's, at 8:30 in the morning. Next time we'll use the DND sign.

Great hotel! Friendly and helpful staff, lightening fast valet, comfy bed and lots of in-room amenities.  Location is easy; two seconds from the freeway.  And they cheerfully accommodated my request for an early check-in.  The ONLY reason I'm giving it four stars is because I stayed there just one night and didn't really have an opportunity to explore and enjoy everything the hotel has to offer.  Go, go, go to this wonderful gem of a hotel.

My boyfriend and I stayed here this past weekend for his birthday and I have to agree with my fellow yelpers this hotel was just OK..The room was average.. bed was very comfortable but the mini bar selection was bad many of the items on the list were not on the snack tray and the room service menu was horrible! it was the same as their West restaurant which we ate at and was not very good and way too pricey.

My only problem was housekeeping, we stayed 3 nights and our room was "cleaned" but really never was.. the bed was made but our sheets were never changed... the bathroom was dirty when we checked in, it seem like the guest before us spilled red kool aid all over in the shower,on the walls and floor.. gross..But on a plus note the front desk staff was very friendly and helpful..Also FYI the hotel is not close to anything.. everything is driving distance and if you take sunset you will get stuck in major traffic.

Do not stay at this hotel!  There was an old bloody stain on the sheets.  When I called downstairs, a Michael/Diego answered and said he can't handle more than one thing at a time and hung up.  When I called back he kept putting me on hold.  This was at 3 a.m.  I then went downstairs to talk to this person because I thought it was absurd that I was being treated in this manner at a hotel I was paying over $200 for.  When I got downstairs he immediately said he was busy and when I asked for his manager he said that I was harassing him and threatened to call security.  There is a perfectly nice hotel right across the street called the Luxe which looked so much nicer and I'm sure their guests didn't have to sleep on bloody sheets or get yelled at by their receptionist.

Staying here this week, because of an awesome rate. Hotel is comfortable enough. Nice bed and linens. Not a great location tho, since there is nothing within walking distance. Ordered room service last night and paid $36 for a grilled cheese sandwich, tomato soup and small (2 inch) chocolate cake. Yikes! Will be moving to another hotel next week: better location, and more businesses around...

stayed recently at this hotel for a friends wedding, and i was incredibly disappointed.  our check in took almost 45 minutes.  i was asked for my credit card and license, and the person helping us said they would be right back.  after 30 minutes of waiting for someone to return and about six other couples being checked in ahead of me, i couldnt wait anymore.  the gentleman who had been checking in all the other couples approached me and asked if i had been helped and i replied about 45 minutes ago.  he proceeded to check me in within minutes. he claimed the other person went to go see if my room was ready.  very disappointing for a hotel who had so many rooms blocked out for the wedding.  you would think they would be more professional and respectful of other peoples time.  it was a good thing my husband and i got ourselves ready at home before check in because otherwise this delay would have made us late to the ceremony.  i hope people really think about staying at this hotel.  although it looks very nice, looks can be deceiving.

Oh Los Angeles, how I love thee. Seriously. I decided to make this the home base while I scout for, dare I say it, my new 'hood. This property is part of the Joie de Vivre chain based out of SF, and of course I had to check it out.

Yes, it's a former Holiday Inn (round tower and all) but it has been completely refurbished in the W sleek moderne style. Major benefits? It's right off of the 405 (a quick drive from LAX with no traffic), a stone's throw from the Getty and oh so posh Brentwood, and has a top floor restaurant/bar lounge with rather expansive views of the the surrounding environs, good drinks and yummy food. On top of all that, something like 5 valet attendants were at attention when I pulled into the driveway (can I get your coat, miss? Do you have any more bags? Welcome to the Angeleno!) and everyone was ever so friendly. If I wasn't moving here, I'd encourage JDV to open more properties in the Southland so that I could check them all out!

Tough to beat location wise and fairly priced  for West LA....phenomenal views for dinner. This company has done a lot with a round Holiday Inn that is tough to get to. Food is VERY good at the top.I like the rooms and the hypnotic white noise of the 405 is pretty cool (unless you need total silence). I stay here a lot and likely will try the other Joy of Life properties as I can stay anywhere really west of the Fwy and they have one in Venice.  When in Orange Cnty I will try the HuntBeach one. I had one experience with a front desk gal who was terrible but hopefully they have sniffed her out. I stay there all the time and wanted to leave an item at the front desk for an employee to pick up later. She would not do it and was snotty.....lecturing me about risk blah blah.....stuff happens. I did not see her the last time I was there so likely she irritated someone more powerful than I.

After getting kicked out of the Westwood W Hotel, my friends and I welcomed the Hotel Angeleno's genuinely friendly service and overall lack of attitude.  Even the pretentious looking bar on the top floor turned out to be friendly enough.

In the end, it's a gussied up former Holiday Inn, for better or worse.  So the beds are very comfortable, the rooms have balconies and are pleasant enough though small, especially the shower/toilet room.  Due to its location next to (above?) the 405, the rooms could also use some more soundproofing.

Of note, the security guard stopped by our room not to relay to us a noise compaint but to see if everything was OK since a few of us were on the balcony looking over the edge.  I guess they've had some jumpers in the past.

Hotel Angeleno had GREAT customer service-- above all. My husband and I stayed there, and were blown away by how helpful all of the staff was, from the concierge, front desk, to the valets. They had complimentary valet parking in a safe, private lot.

The rooms were decent sized; very clean and even had some character in them. The noise could potentially be an issue, since there was a balcony on our room that over-looked the freeway. We just kept the slider shut, and it blocked all of it.

The bar and restaurant were over-priced, but there were so many restaurants in the area I was not concerned.

I would recommend this place as a fantastic stay for its price range.

There price match as advertised on their website is a hoax.  They would not honor it when I filled out their online form and showed them evidence of the other website's lower price.  They are dishonest and a bad customer service business.  Just book through the third party website, it will always be cheaper than through their site... if you really have to stay here at all.

The Hotel was very comfortable and  the staff was Professional.  We really enjoyed the evening wine in the lobby and the coffee in the morning.  We did find a place to relax.    After checking out and driving 100 miles, I realized that I had left an ipod in the room.  I immediately called the hotel and made a report.  The ipod was sent to me by fedex a few days later.  I am a happy customer and plan to return to the hotel on my next trip.

Had to take last minute class at UCLA Extension and found a very reasonable rate through Expedia.com . We actually really enjoyed the hotel. The room was very nice for the price. They have complimentary shuttle service to and from UCLA and valet, so our car never left the lot. You are pretty limited as far as nearby restaurants within walking distance, but your in Westwood. There's a ton places to eat within minutes driving time. We didn't eat at West, but did order room service from there and we weren't disappointed.

I love this hotel.
I love their restaurant.
The bar is great.
AND THE VIEW IS MAGNIFICENT.
The service has always been stellar.
and free valet parking.
don't forget to end the evening with the chocolate gelato and a cognac.
Some nights they have live Jazz which makes a great evening even better.

We stayed there for $139/night + $20 parking for the weekend. I love the decor, very trendy. The bed was very comfortable, everything was clean and new. Only problem is the noise from the freeway. I couldn't open the balcony door because it was just too loud. And the fan in the room was really loud also, there is no 'low/medium/high' fan speed to select. Overall it was ok, just wish it could have been a more quiet stay.

The location is great, but the freeway is very loud.  We arrived, were wisked in and everything was great...until the front desk announced that restaurant / bar is closed for a private party.  We went to the pool which is very nice.  The Angeleno is a great place for sleeping, but do not expect luxury or amenity.

We got to our room, which is decent.  However, this morning I woke to only decaf coffee with the coffee pot (lazy housekeepers).

We also tried to use the mini bar fridge, however nothing was cold.  We let the front desk know and they promised an engineer, but upon return from dinner still nothing cold to drink.

Realizing that we could not open the door to the balcony, we tried the AC for air.  The fan was louder than the freeway outside so we went with fresh air.  Probably a mistake.

So, if you need a place to rest your head, Angeleno may work.  If you want more than a comfortable bed, this place isn't for you.

Went there for a romantic dinner with my hubby on the 17th floor bar/restaurant. The view was gorgeous, one of the most amazing night view of LA!!! I'd give the food a B, though we were not hungry, the server tried to sell(('impose') a full 3 course meal on us. It s bait pricy too. But the view and the atmosphere was worth it!

make sure to take a look at the bathroom doors at west restaurant. they will truly make you laugh. so this hotel is right off the 405. i mean right there. but the good thing is you dont really hear it. the pool is pretty nice and i like the outdoor fireplace. it has a real modern feel for a small boutique hotel. the front desk staff is pretty nice and very knowledgeable. the rooms have this really coo headboard too. nice and soft....

i like that the bathroom has a separate toilet showewr/ vanity so your home girl can blow it up while your applying your eyeliner.

I just stayed here for three nights and had a nice and restful stay.  The style of the hotel is modern, sleek, and cool, but not in a cold and austere way.  Lots of dark woods and clean lines.

The beds are awesome!  Lovely clean linens, the shower is powerful and hot, and everything was clean, clean, clean.  Every room has a private balcony, which is a nice touch.  The view isn't too great though, you're either looking at the highway or the street.  I didn't get to visit the pool, but it looks pretty sweet.

I didn't eat at the restaurant, but did get room service one night, which was great.  It came surprisingly fast and all the employees are very nice.  Yes, there is $18/day valet parking even for people staying there, but I guess that's just LA for ya.  Only 4 stars because it isn't quiet enough for me, but that's just unfortunately due to the location, being right off the highway. Otherwise, I really enjoyed my stay.

I had to knock them down to 4 stars due to a recent change. They used to have relatively fast, free WiFi access in all of the rooms, but they now have a different system where you have to sign in by your room number and the speed is severely limited unless you pay them $9.95 a day. This is already an expensive hotel, and nickel and diming guests for actual usable Internet access is not cool.

The free Internet access is now very slow and you can't watch a video or listen to online radio without it stuttering and jerking. Even browsing regular web sites is almost like dial-up, watching the pictures slowly download to your computer a pixel at a time.

Very poor decision on the part of Angeleno's management and I'm really disappointed to see them make such a change.

Forced Valet?

Loud highway noises at night?

To be honest, the hotel is not much to look at from the inside. But if you like modern, minimalist design, it's quite gorgeous inside. Service is spot on (I always hate valet, but this place made me hate it less) and the rooms are small, but very comfortable. The beds are fantastic - I didn't want to get up! Plus, this place is perfectly situated right off the freeway, which made planning excursions easy. We'd definitely stay here again.

I got the exact same deal Jennifer M (the reviewer immediately preceding me) got, and I'm glad I did. At that rate, this hotel is a steal. Even without it, it's probably worth it.

The location is great...not only is it convenient to everything between Santa Monica and West Hollywood, but it also feels a little like a retreat in the hills, the same thing I like about the Luxe next door. I thought the freeway noise was a non-factor from my room on the hotel's west side, but you do hear a lot from your neighbor's room, which is the only drawback.

Other than that, no complaints. Very cool W-hotel-like decor, great service, reliable 'Net access, a comfy bed, and nice views. I'm glad I found this place and I'd be happy to come back.

Just watch as the positive reviews roll in for this place...

I stayed here for 4 nights, and it was overall pleasant.  The bed was comfy and the decor was nice.  The room was just TINY.  Plus, you have to valet park, which is annoying.  And its JUST a hotel.  The front lobby is tiny, and if its busy in there, its hard to get to the elevator/front desk, etc.

Also, I'm not sure what to think but here is my story: I lost a white zip up jacket, and I'm positive that I left it in the hotel room.  Well, the day after checking out, I called the hotel up, and asked to speak to the Lost and Found, which meant I got put on hold for about 10 minutes.  Finally someone pops up to tell me that they will check, but they aren't the L&F person and will leave a message for them.  The guy didn't find my jacket, but told me to call the next day.  I called the next day, and same thing: a long wait on hold= annoying!  But this time I talked to the actual L&F person, and he couldn't find my jacket either.  I am sure I left it in my room, and its a little disheartening that they didn't find it.  That means either a) someone kept it, or b) they don't clean that thoroughly and didn't find it.

Make of it what you will, but I'm just rating this hotel 3 stars...

This was a very nice hotel, located near a great mountain for running. My primary issues were the staff; as soon as I checked in they must have knocked on my door at least 6 times. It became super intrusive and annoying. I would not stay here ever again.

Excellent customer service from the time we walked in until we left. We were greeted with a smile and anything we asked for the staff went out of their way to satisfy our needs. We stayed in a double room on the 8th floor that didn't have much of a huge view, but at night the view was nicer and during the day the room was facing the sun. On our balcony we could view the pool area down below. The bed was the most comfortable I've ever slept in outside of the George Washington Hotel in Washington, D.C. The restaurant manager and staff were very accommodating. The location is right off of the 405 which made it easy for us to return our car (LAX is about 20 minutes away) and get to other places such as Hollywood Blvd and Venice Beach. Didn't really hear the noise from the 405. Maybe because the room was not facing the 405. I would definitely go back.

This hotel is special because of its superb location. Valet, as others have said, is $20/night (Grrrr....). The other clientele were young and trendy or older European couples.

Rooms are small, and they provided coffee but no coffeemaker (spent about 20 minutes searching for it...). They charge for internet access in business center, but WiFi is free. No vending machines in the building (ended up going into the employee's garage to get a Coca Cola at 9 pm). The best part about this hotel was the free shuttle service to the Getty. Driver was very kind, timely, and professional. Traffic noise on the 405 was not a problem; our room faced the highway, on the 3rd floor but was pretty much blocked out by closing the curtains overnight.

Also, I noticed a sign on the front window notifying that the building had applied for a change of owner. Could the Hotel Angeleno be changing hands? And styles?

I received a great rate through expedia, it was $104 for the Executive King per night for early August.  The only parking option is valet which is now $20 a day.  The room is nice with the decor and linens and super comfortable bed. The layout was great and had a nice flatscreen. The view was higher up on the 12th floor of the Getty Center and was pretty. The nice tile shower did shift from hot to cold which was odd. When you opened the door to the balcony the traffic noise was incredibly loud and you wouldn't want to sit out there. There was no noise issue with it when the door was closed though.  The location worked out ok, it was between Brentwood and Bel Air, either way tons of driving. Nothing near the hotel to walk to around there, which is what I usually prefer, but hey, i got a great rate and it was very quiet!

I don't think I would stay here again because even though I added the valet parking into my budget, it was mostly a pain. The valet guys were overworked and we had to wait at least 10 minutes every morning to get it and one day they couldn't find the keys because the tag fell off. Not to mention I couldn't go through stuff in my car because it was not accessible.

TIP: The Getty Center is about a mile away, go on Saturday after 5 PM for free parking.

This is an iconic hotel because of it's shape and location. I stayed here with girlfriends over this past weekend for a birthday. One of the girls got a discount for working in a sister hotel. We were treated like privileged guests, not cheapskate-discount guests. I hate it when hotels make you feel inferior when you get a discount rate!

Style: This building looks like it was a Holiday Inn in the past because of it's circular structure. The interior has been completely updated in a contemporary style. Basic hotel room set-up with a bed, desk, dresser, fridge, and small bathroom. The headboards are velvet and they used dark wood as accents. You could tell where they cut corners; they didn't spend on updating electronics. Modern pictures hang in the rooms and it seems that every room has a balcony.

Restaurant: It is located on one of the top floors so it looks out over LA. The view is fantastic at night. We sat in the lounge area and ordered cocktails and appetizers before we went out that night. They have a 3 for $18 appetizer special--I recommend asking how much comes with each appetizer. The girls practically inhaled the calamari. It's very swanky and dark on the inside and we got a free birthday lemon dessert-delicious!

Staff- Extremely nice and we were extremely rambunctious guests. The kind most would want to kick out. Too much alcohol produces too much noise... The bell boys, valet, front desk help was very friendly and understanding.

Valet- $10 and I don't think there's anywhere else to park.

Location- Right off the 405 and Sunset. Go get a star map on the other side of the freeway and drive around. Selma Hayek lives like 2 miles away :) It is not close to grocery stores or fast food so bring that stuff with you when you go.

The first place I was served underage was the Viper Room (Can't remember what it was called before that), the first place I was served of age was here when it was the Holiday Inn.

It changed to the Hotel Angelino a couple years ago and is just stunning. Not only is the view to die for, but the Top Floor Lounge is beautifully appointed, everything is now directed at the expansive view of WLA south and westward. Servers were sweet (no matter how hard my friend Justice kept hitting on them) and the drinks were tasty (i dont think they did anything in my drink at least).

I prefer to stay near the beach or in Hollywood, so have not stayed in the rooms, but have been in them and they are great. From the other reviews I can tell that the beds are great, and the plumbing sucks. But everyone says it's really a 4 star... Will have to check it out one day.

Great Lounge... One of my fav's for HH in LA. And a great spot to meet friends who are coming in from the Valley.

Stayed at this hotel for a weekend because I had to attend a wedding.  It's easily missed, as you exit the freeway, if you don't pay close enough attention.  The beds were super comfortable.  The decor modern and sleek, the way I like it!  And OH EM GEE, their wifi blew my mind.  My wifi at home is nonexistent and I can never watch youtube or hulu videos, because they take days (literally) to stream, but here at Hotel Angeleno, the wifi changed my life.  I was able to watch Glee on Hulu from my laptop without wait!

My husband and I stayed here for two nights during Move-In Weekend for UCLA students.  The hotel offered a special rate for families moving their freshman into the dorms.  We had a lovely stay.  This hotel is the iconic round building everyone sees off the 405 near UCLA.  All of the staff, from the front desk to the valet parkers to the restaurant waiters were very friendly, efficient and accomodating.  We enjoyed free Wi-fi, free valet parking, free continental breakfast (although not a buffet) served in the restaurant and free wine hour in the lobby.  The continental breakfast was coffee, oj, toast and fresh fruit.  You also had the option of supplementing the breakfast with anything on the menu, for a fee.  The room was very comfortable, modern and clean.  The only drawback is the hotel is not within walking distance to anything, so you need to either drive somewhere to eat or eat at their restaurant.  The restaurant is very nice with excellent service, tasty food and gorgeous views but I thought it was expensive. Entrees were in the $25 to $30 price range.  I would rather have had some more moderately priced choices nearby.
We had no problem with noise.  We requested a room away from the highway.  I think that even if we had a room facing the highway, the air conditioner would have drowned out any highway noise.  The ac was a little loud but it was more of a white noise so it didn't bother us.  The shower had great water pressure.  The pool area was very nice, with an outdoor fireplace and benches with plenty of pillows and extra towels.  There is no hot tub or sauna.  The fitness room looked ok - there was nobody using it.
We would definitely stay here again if they offered us the special UCLA move in rate.

This hotel more than met our expectations- especially for the price (a deal through Expedia for $109/night)!! It is perfectly situated in Brentwood, very near Beverly Hills, Los Angeles downtown, Hollywood, and many beaches.. We stayed in a King Suite, which offered a ton of space, and the lounge had a great view! Overall, a very cool vibe to the hotel, and a GREAT pool/lounge area in the back! The valet parking was extremely quick and efficient. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, any age, vacationing in the Los Angeles area. Edith at the front desk was particularly helpful, and so sweet!:)

The only downfalls of the hotel were the (at times) noisy air conditioner and horrible shower head- Although, neither would be a deal breaker, and we would definitely stay at Angeleno again! 4 Stars!

WEST Restaurant, on the 17th floor of the hotel has turned into a really great Jazz room!  Jazz Tuesday - Friday nights, no cover, no minimum.  Parking is $7.00.  Music starts at 7:00 Tues - Thursday, and 8:00 PM on Fridays.  The lounge area where the band plays is large and comfy, with a great view of the traffic on the 405.  Bring a date and chill out with a million dollar view for the price of parking and a martini.

I got a single room. It was small, but very comfortable and well decorated. Due to the cylindrical shape of the building, my room wasn't the typical rectangle shape I've come to expect, but more like the shape of a piece of pie. It was weird waking up and seeing the wall opposite of my bed at such an angle. I thought I was crooked and about to fall off the bed. Craziest case of bed vertigo I've ever had sober. This isn't really a complaint BTW, just an observation.

On the 17th floor, they have a restaurant with great food, great drinks, and a great view. What isn't so great is the surrounding area. There really isn't anywhere to go within walking distance, unless you count the AM/PM on the other side of the freeway. Which brings up another point. You're also right up against the 405 freeway, but I didn't really notice and noise or other problems.

Overall, I'd say Hotel Angeleno is a great hotel for the price, in spite of the $18 a day valet fee. I'm letting that slide because I felt I got such a good deal on the room. I'm only giving it a 4 out of 5 because of the lame location. If it was in a slightly more interesting area, it would be perfect. Overall, I recommend it and will probably stay there again next time I'm down.

It doesn't look like a hotel from a distance.. more like an office building. Upon arrival you'll be greeted with the $20/day valet service which is actually the only option to park here. The staff was courteous and professional. The guests here were mostly well to do and in their 40's and up. The room itself was small but beds were very comfy and soft. If you're facing the highway and open the glass balcony door you'll see how well it insulates you from the loud ass highway traffic! The A/C unit seemed to not work very well and blew alot of humid air in the room. Also, one of my pet peeves..  the maids knocked on our door at 8:30 am and again every hour after..

Coming from the Bay Area, I was pleased to see a JDV hotel near the location I was visiting in LA.  They have a fantastic rate deal going right now, so I got a room for about $120 after all the mandatory tax mumbo jumbo.  Unfortunately, they were booked on one of the two nights I was going to be in town, so I stayed at another hotel the first night (Hotel Palomar on Wilshire, recently reviewed) and made a last minute reservation here and it was definitely worth it for the price (I don't know if I would ever want to pay their normal $200+/night rate). The location was interesting: just under the Getty and a quick 5 minute drive down Sunset to UCLA.  It sure is impressive to look at from the freeway, and I was surprised at how well they hid the freeway when you pull up to the front.  Valet parking is $18.

Front desk guy, I'm sorry I don't remember your name, but you were super chill.  He gave us our room keys and said we were on the fifth floor, so I sort of seriously but sort of jokingly asked if he could upgrade us to a higher floor.  He did.  So, score.

The whole round hotel thing made for some interesting interior layouts.  Their featured restaurant, West, is located on the top floor and though I am usually reluctant to try the restaurant in my hotel (I want to explore the area outside the hotel!), we actually did end up eating there because we were too tired to venture back out into LA traffic.   I had read reviews that said portions were too small and/or underwhelming, but West exceeded my expectations in the food department (hello, truffle lasagna appetizer!).  Drinks are outrageously priced; next time, I'll just bring my own $20 bottle of tequila and call it a night.  Could not for the life of me understand why people would visit this bar if they weren't staying in the hotel.  $12 for a well cocktail is $8 too much.

Room: Smallish, but bed was sooo comfortable.  Also, I don't know how many other reviewers complained about noise, but honestly I was super impressed with how WELL the balcony doors eliminated freeway noise.  Freeway noise isn't really something you can avoid, but damn are those quadruple paned sliding glass doors?  I don't know how else you could quell that roar of traffic to a whisper.  Yes, my hotel room was an incredible feat in sound engineering.

Maybe I'm just partial to JDV hotels because of the brand, but they always seem to give me great value for my modest monies.

We stayed at the Angeleno for 4 nights. The rooms are small but clean and neatly decorated. The beds were a bit soft for our taste (we're used to Japanese futons) but overall quite good. The location is great. Not too noisy.

The really annoying thing was that they tried to cheat us on the bill. TWICE! The booking I made came with a free movie per night. They charged us for both movies that I watched. After a call to the front desk the receptionist immediately agreed to take the movie bill off without even as much as asking. A very convenient mistake. But she only took off one movie. Only when I saw the bill I noticed that the second one was still there. I needed to argue with the receptionist to take it off, too.

I'm rather sure that this is hotel policy rather than just a simple mistake. So - check your bill before you pay it lest you be ripped off.

I agree that the only reason to stay here is the price and location. The location is convenient - but unfortunately is just seconds from the freeway. Room was comfortable, but could have used some sound-proofing from that same freeway. The Service staff was friendly - but not at all helpful in finding a coat that I left in the room. At least it was clean.

I'll find someplace else in my next visit.

The Sell is the location and the look.  Definately an LA icon that has been remodeled and happens to be at the base of the Getty.  The remodel of this round building off the 405 is starting to look dated and old style W dark.  Clean yes, but there are better hotels in the area.

Some may know it as the old Holiday Inn = Yup!  Great pool area and steak restaurant.  Everyone was friendly, but the desk was not in touch with the latest restaurants or good at giving advice.  The Luxe is right next door.  I think I liked it better.

For all the talk about the highway and the noise, I thought this was a pretty good hotel.  Granted, I booked a room for $139 through Tablet Hotels, so my expectations weren't too grand.

Check-in was a pleasure, valet was easy and courteous.  My request for a room opposite the freeway was met with a smile.  No problem.  12th floor facing the Getty Museum.

My room was a good size, bed was comfy, bathroom fine.  The room phone didn't work, but I didn't realize that until my last day when I tried to call front-desk to summon my rental car.  No big deal, but they should have that checked out.  Free wi-fi.  Nice.  TV sucked, but I hate TV so not an issue.

I never made it down for the free wine mixer at 5:30p, but I did spend a couple of nights at West, the steakhouse on the top floor.  Not a "scene" in the LA sense, but great bartender, great martini, live jazz, and killer view looking south down the 405 through the lights and smog on LA.  Mellow with pretty good food.

Nice place - if you're on a budget but still want something trendy-ish, this is a good option.  Just be prepared to drive a lot - it's a hump to get anywhere ...

I really loved the decor in this room. I got the room for $95/night on travelocity so I really can't complain about it too much. There was a lot of noise from the freeway and the location is a little odd, but I still loved it. My room came with a mini bar (I don't know if they all do, I'm assuming they do), the staff was friendly, the view is very nice since each room comes with a balcony.

If you're willing to spend some money I highly recommend this place because even if you get this room for cheap, everything in it is pretty steep. I can't say too much about it because I only stayed in my hotel room for one night and I never left it.

I ended up taking a photo shoot here and the pictures turned out great I think because of the room. very comfortable beds and these greeaattt furry back/head boards.

I point it out every time I pass by it and tell everyone how I went there and how nice it is inside.

Last time was better. This visit the bar was closed early and the manager Gil would not let us sit outside by the pool and told us in a very nice accent "you can try and get away with it for about 10 minutes but I will send my security guard out there to ask you to leave very nicely" now I wish I could record it because of his accent picture calling Microsoft for support. I asked him was there a place we could sit outside and he directed us to the back of the hotel and said there were chairs out there. I asked if we could get a portable heater and he said the "pool is closed" I was lost at that point, but I asked again and he said there were not any, needless to say when we walked out, there were 2 portable heaters. Now I am really confused. Maybe it was lost in transalation but this time was not a great experiance for me.

Great place to stay in LA. Right on the highway, but the noise is really not a problem at all, and the location is super convenient. Staff is friendly, rooms are very nice, pool is lovely and feels secluded, and the wifi is free!

I stayed here while a friend was visiting LA. The hotel is 5 minutes away from UCLA and Beverly Hills west gate. The location is both great and unfortunate because it is so close to the 405. We came in requesting a room away from the freeway but the receptionist had already considered it. Valet parking is also a free perk.

The room size is small but the double beds are comfortable and plush. The closet/media center is handsome and smart setup for the size of the room. Going to West, the restaurant at the top, is a great experience. You get to view part of the city from 17 floors up and all rooms have a balcony with view.

It is an older buiding but they've made it very posh.

Good location, close to UCLA but it is right next to the 405 . Opening my balcony door all I could hear was the buzz from the freeway.

Horrible bathroom. Tiny Space for a bathroom. The door to the wc had frosted glass so you could see everything going on behind it. NO PRIVACY from family members.

Room was very small, but clean.  Good service, and friendly staff. Overall nothing to get excited about.

I stayed here during a conference and found the hotel very comfortable. It's not directly in Westwood but it runs a shuttle into town which is convenient (though you have to reserve it awhile ahead of time). The pool was smallish but nice for a morning or afternoon time getting some rays and the restaurant /bar on the roof is convenient and trendy (though a bit overpriced). Rooms were comfortable but you can hear the 405 a little.  All in all a nice, clean, accommodating hotel.

My girlfriend and I checked into the Hotel Angeleno last Saturday the 26th.  We are in a long-distance relationship so I wanted to treat her to a nice place on her last night here.  The only other time I had been to the Angeleno was for a work party on the top floor and I thought it was a good bet.  I booked a suite knowing that we may want to entertain some friends of mine in the area.

Overall it was the worst experience I've ever had coming from Hotel staff, and here are the reasons why.

1. Major problem - When I check in they say there's been a problem, due to construction my suite was not available.  To make up for it, they offered a room at a discount or two connecting rooms at the same price.  Seriously what am I going to do with two bedrooms, that's useless.  I took the one room at a discounted price, but more importantly, why wasn't I made aware of this construction before checking in??!!!

2. Minor problem - The food isn't great.  We had dinner upstairs.  Her fish was cooked with a sauce that was above the skin, rendering the fish very bland.  I forget what side we had but I remember not being very impressed.  However I'll admit that we are avid food critics.

3. INEXCUSABLY MAJOR PROBLEM - The night man Diego declaring we are kicked out of the hotel.  Let's start at the beginning.  Our guests and us leave the bar upstairs just as it's closing to go back to our room.  (Now's when it would of have been better to have a suite.)  We decided to try and see if it was too late to order a bottle of wine to the suite to entertain our guests.  My girlfriend calls down to the front desk (Diego) to see if this was possible.  Diego tells her to go up to the bar and get it there.  She has the impression after talking to him that we just need to go up there and pick it up.  (Being the concierge, why didn't he just call up?)  I walk up to the bar, which seems pretty closed down.  I talk to a man in a jacket who works there, he says there is no way.  I go back down to the room empty handed, my girlfriend is confused because she was under the impression they were expecting me up there.  We go down to see Diego.  When we explain what just happened, Diego starts by quizzing us.  "Did you call room service?  Who did you talk to upstairs?  Was it the bar manager?  Go back up and talk to the bar manager."  It is immediately obvious that he is playing games, as he knew that my girlfriend had just called him on the phone about this and not room service.  I explain (and am getting angry at this point because I would just like a straight answer) that I don't know what the position was of the person that I talked to upstairs, I didn't appreciate being shuffled around the hotel, and he should call up there for us to find out.  He goes back into the office and gets on a walkie-talkie to try to talk to someone upstairs.  When he comes back he explains that they are all gone and there's nothing he can do.  At this point my girlfriend has gotten angry (and it all could of have been avoided if he just acted like a concierge and called up to the bar for us from the beginning) and tells him he's doing a bad job.  At this Diego completely flips out.  He says we are "Kicked off the premises!  You can't have your wine and you talk about my job.  You're out!"  Yes, for real.  Jesus man, just say you're terribly sorry about the confusion but the bar is closed.  Obviously I told him we weren't going anywhere and that we would speak to a manager in the morning.  I was livid.  Our guests are upstairs, not in a suite that I ordered, and we're sent on a wild goose chase looking for a simple bottle of wine that ends in being, "Kicked off the premises!"

4. Minor Problem - We ordered room service for breakfast.  It took a few calls before someone would even answer the phone.  When the food is delivered we find out that they literally have one person answering calls, cooking food, and delivering it to the rooms.  Yikes...

5. Last Major Problem - When I checked out, I asked to see the manager.  I explained the problem to Scott Gordon, Rooms Division Manager of Joie de Vivre hotels.  He was very receptive and visibly shocked at my experience.  I must assume now that it was all an act.  He gave me his card and explained that he would talk with Diego and get in contact with me, perhaps comping a room should I decide to stay again.  After not hearing anything from him over the past week I can assume that was an empty gesture.  I honestly have no desire to stay there again do to the enormity of the insult I felt from Diego even if it was free, however I would of have refrained from the negative review had I at least gotten a call.  Too late now.

Ps.  We also stayed at the Marriot in Marina del Ray.  Sooooo much nicer.  Better club and much better food as well.

This place use to be a Holiday Inn.  Don't be fooled by the updated decor, the building itself at its core is Holiday Inn.  The hotel is next to the 405 freeway so noise is an issue.  Also the customer service is sub-par.  My wife and I were had booked a room and confirmed a special request for a non-freeway side room with a king bed.  What we got was two double beds on the 2nd floor facing the freeway.  We were checking in late but that was explained when making the special request and was assured that wasn't going to be a problem.  That night they explained that they were full and we could basically take it or leave it.  We chose to leave it and go somewhere else.  The freeway is so close to the hotel that I doubt we would have been able to sleep.

There are many other choices in the area.  I recommend going somewhere else.

Stayed here over the weekend to attend a friend's wedding.  We had trouble getting to the hotel because of the traffic (the freeway entrance is right next to the hotel and so is Sunset Blvd.) at night, but during the day it isn't so bad.  The valet is complimentary and the price for the room wasn't that pricey since the bride and groom blocked rooms for a certain price (about $60 cheaper than normal rates).  The staff was very friendly and accommodating.  The room was nice with large king size bed, which was very comfy, not too hard and not too soft.  Internet was free.  There was an honor bar, but it was over priced.

The bf and I decided to take advantage of the room service and splurged for those two days.  The hotel has a restaurant (West Restaurant and Lounge) at the top floor, which makes  the food for room service.  We ended up ordering one dinner and two breakfasts for those two nights.  They were very prompt and the food was good.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay and I would recommend this hotel for those who just want to get away and splurge.

I stayed at Hotel Angeleno for the first time this weekend; I live near by but was in the area for a wedding. The service was fantastic from the front desk agent at check in to the bartender in the top floor lounge. I was pleasantly surprised how well the balcony doors blocked out the freeway noise.  I even came back from the wedding to chocolate covered strawberries and champagne as it was my boyfriend and I's anniversary. Many of the staff members signed the card adding an even more personal touch to the experience.

I only know about this hotel because of West Restaurant which is on the top floor of the hotel, the food there is amazing. I ended up staying one night when I had one too many cocktails during Monday night Jazz  in their upstairs lounge.

They have beautifully decorated rooms with amazing views of downtown I could see all the way to the ocean and past Catalina Island. There was a little bit of traffic noise but that's to be expected in such a central location and was barely noticeable once I got settled in.

They have all the basic amenities plus more. Free shuttle service, friendly staff, hot bellman, fast room service and a cute little coffee shop where the lady was super nice and made me one of the best latte I've ever had.

I worked out in the gym and took a dip in the pool before I left and it was clean and heated which is always nice.

All in all it was a great value and wonderful experience, next time I have guests in town I will definitely recommend this hotel.

What's with all the comments about the hotel being right on the 405!  All of LA is a big freeway/parking lot!  This hotel is well appointed and good value. Convenient to a lot of things including the Getty and UCLA. Friendly staff. Delightful and tasty rooftop restaurant WEST with good food and great views.

As we were approaching the exit, we saw the hotel and started making fun of it.  It is old and ugly.  The rooms are tiny.  In our king bed room there were 2 chairs - an awkward upholstered chair and a roll around on wheels desk chair.  The room was so small that there isn't even a fold out luggage rack - because there is literally no place big enough to put one.  The bathroom door is a sliding glass door - no sound protection.  And speaking of sound, this is so close to the freeway that you are going to have LOTS of sounds and not good ones.  The dresser was beat up.  The TV didn't work until the guy came and jiggled the wires.  I literally cried at this one.

I had a great stay at the Hotel Angeleno while in LA on business.  It's a very nice looking and classy looking place.  Lots of dark wood and warm earthy colors really make the place feel very cozy.  The pool area looked really nice but it was still a bit too cold for swimming when I was there.  My favorite part of the Hotel Angeleno is the complimentary wine every evening.  It's not fantastic wine but not box wine either.

The rooms were a bit tight for a double, but very nicely appointed and with comfortable beds.  The only real downside is the road noise from the 405.  I ended up turning the AC on just to drown out some of it.

I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in LA.

(Starting from 3 stars)
Stars:
+1 Being close to UCLA, Westwood, Bel Air, Beverly Hills
+1 Awesome design: modern clean lines, urban decor, flat screen TV
+1 Surprisingly responsive and very welcoming personnel and clean rooms
+1 For AMAZING beds, comfy, soft headers
-1 Valet only parking which came out to $24 after tip and mandatory donation the hotel clearly has enough parking for everyone considering the lot had more than enough spaces
-1 Noise. Although this does have to do with the location I feel like better soundproofing will get rid of the constant highway traffic noise. I'm a pretty good sleeper and can fall asleep with noise but i can totally see it being a problem for some people
-1 Semi cramped. I guess this has to do with the layout of the room, but i found the bathroom rather tight and I am not to complain about space after living in college dorms

Overall: Very pleasant place that definitely has a fresh vibe but some minor problems. Would recommend booking it on-line to get a discount on the rooms (rented a $200 for $100).

I stayed here for five days in July.  The beds were comfortable and the room was clean and quiet despite hearing concerns from others about the noise from the freeway (and I did stay on the 405 side).  The website mentions "plush bathrobes," but they were not offered.  The free valet service is nice, but when you are coming and going as often as I am, you'd be wise to tip the valets, and if you do that, it doesn't exactly end up being free now, does it?  The West restaurant located on the17th floor has spectacular views, but the food wasn't much to write home about.  I enjoyed stepping out onto the balcony of my room and checking out the views of Westwood.  The sliding door to the balcony didn't lock, but I wasn't too worried about Spiderman scaling the building.  However, this may be of concern if you have children.  Overall, I enjoyed my stay here.  It's a good location because it's in between the beach and Hollywood, however, there are no restaurants or bars within walking distance so plan on taking a cab or driving.  I'd stay here again, but don't let the website fool you, it's not as fancy as they'd have you think.

While the people are certainly nice, one sign of a decent hotel, in my view, is the quality of the heat/air conditioning system.  By this measure, this hotel fails.  Noisy.  Noisy.  I could not keep the heat on one cold day, as I could not hear the tv.  Impossible to sleep with it on.  To make it worse, the heat unit seemed open to the outside, letting in the din of the freeway, and a cold breeze.
On the other hand, coffee in the morning is under $3 for a decent cup.

It's a good, decently-priced hotel located on the border of Brentwood and Westwood.  The staff is friendly, helpful and professional, but the hotel itself (because it is a refurbished and totally made-over Holiday Inn) is still a little rough around the edges.  Or perhaps it was someone's intent to make the drapes in my room appear as if a wild animal had gotten to them.

It's located right next to the 405 freeway so, unless you run the AC all day and night, you are going to hear that traffic drone.  It's not terrible but it is present.  But again, the AC drowns it out.

The top floor restaurant and lounge, "West," is very, very cool.  Great views and very chic decor.  The big city drink prices are a further reminder that you aren't in a Holiday Inn any longer.  At the very least, head up the bar to check it and the views out.

Overall, a satisfying and enjoyable stay in a good location on the Westside. 10 minutes to Beverly Hills to the east and 10 minutes to the beach to the west.  Not bad at all.

I won a silent auction that included a 2 night hotel stay at Hotel Angeleno.  I called before hand to make sure the coupon (which I won almost 4 years ago) was still good.  They told me there was no expiration date and so I booked the room.  I also asked about the valet parking and if there was a charge because I was meeting up with a friend and we would each have a car.  The lady over the phone told me if the guests are staying at the hotel then the valet is free and added his name to my room.  When I arrived I let the valet know about my friend coming.  He said there was going to be a $25 charge for each night.  I was appalled and dreaded calling my friend to say after a long drive and renting a car he was going to be charged an extra $50.  I spoke to the hotel staff and explained that I made it clear when I booked the room that there was going to be two of us with separate vehicles.  The staff was great and waved the fee for the second car.  When I got into my room the phone was not working so I went back downstairs and they quickly placed us in another room.  Elijah and Chris were awesome and extremely helpful with answering my questions and making sure my friend got to the room ok.  The hotel is on the freeway which made it convenient getting to the places we went.  You can hear the cars at night but it is kind of soothing.  The room was clean and I loved the soap, shampoo/conditioner, and lotion they supplied.  We had a great trip and I would definitely stay here again if I was in the area.  Thanks again Elijah and Chris for your sense of humor and excellent customer service.

This place is pretty nice.  2nd hotel of my trip to LA.  I had the bright idea of using a different hotel on each day. It makes it more interesting, and if you get a hotel that sucks, you aren't stuck there for too many days.  LA is also so big, so why not just go everywhere.

So anyways, after we left the residence inn in manhattan beach, we came to this hotel. It was pretty nice. It is valet only, and cost about 26 bucks. Kinda pricey, but oh well.

The hotel I thought was in the middle of nowhere. It is next to the freeway which is convenient, but nothing is walking distance. I guess that's the East Coast in me.  I really think a hotel is more for sleeping, and it should be convenient to alot of cool stuff. I guess everything in LA is drive only.

The staff was friendly, and helpful.  The LCD tvs are nice. and I couldnt really hear the traffic on the freeway.

This is the room I got through priceline to save money, but normally I doubt I would have picked this place.

Nice room for a solo business traveler - however, several words of caution: look very closely at the bill - I had a $45 "upgrade" charge (no "upgrade" requested), plus a $14 valet charge (didn't have a car).  I had a good experience otherwise, but I don't trust a hotel that sneaks things onto the bill.

Also, make sure your hotel room door is actually closed - I found my door could look closed, but wouldn't lock until I gave it an extra tug.

The gym is pretty barebones.

Food at the restaurant was good, but super expensive with no nearby alternatives.

My five night stay was decent- probably 2.5 stars but rounding down based on the fact that my several hours of searching all of the review sites leads me to believe they are busy padding their ratings with sketchy reviews AND the noise level is just unbearable even after requesting a Church Rd room. I appreciated the free (but slow) wifi, free valet and complimentary wine tasting very much. Everyone we talked to was very nice. The heated pool could have been a couple of degrees warmer and the setting around it was very nice... However, the highway, the price, the lack of nearby businesses, the distance to UCLA (they advertise that it's right there but it's not that close) and the noise are just too much... Even the room service was good (skirt steak dinner was awesome; breakfast pretty good) but I still couldn't overcome the feeling that better deals would have been easy to find in places that weren't so isolated.

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I left my iPad in the hotel room and the staff members, specifically Riley and Haley, went above and beyond to return it to me. They went out of their way to call me and inform me on the status of my iPad and even researched shipping plans, so that I could receive it as soon and as safely as possible. I am not only incredibly thankful for the help of Haley and Riley, but also for the integrity of the housing staff who discovered my iPad and placed in the lost and found safe, so that it could be returned to me! Again, many thanks to all those involved!

After several years of poking around, Angeleno is everything I have been looking for in an L.A. metro hotel.  I *finally* don't have to think about where I want to stay anymore!

Right off the bat, their location is spectacular.  You can throw a rock and hit the 405 (but don't actually do that...).  Within 10 minutes you can be on Ventura Blvd in Studio City, or 3rd Street in Santa Monica, or at the Grove in Beverly Hills.  Want to go down to Disneyland for the day?  It's only 35 minutes if you leave at the right time...

The hotel rooms are delightfully pleasant.  The round architecture provides interesting room design, and Angeleno devoted a lot of great effort to optimizing the room configuration.  After living there for a week I've decided the result is perfect use of space.  I admit I was worried about traffic noise, but the balcony doors effectively drown it out.  And if you travel with a white noise machine as I do, you will hear literally nothing, even if you sleep through the morning.  (If you don't travel with white noise, I've no idea what your expectations of a hotel may be...)

I have to write a paragraph on its own about the bed.  I come from an elitist Tempurpedic mattress at home, and Angeleno's bed was very plainly a lot more comfortable.  I forgot to look at the tag to find out who made it, but the fact that it occurred to me to have done so should speak volumes.  I never sleep well in hotels.  But Angeleno's bed had me the first night.  Not too hot, not too cold, not too hard, but just right.  I think I slept 11 hours.

The hotel staff are, frankly, perfect.  They fade into the background, which is exactly what I want.  Perfectly courteous when I checked in, and cognizant enough to welcome me back with simple greetings as I came back each day.

I have to give extra special credit to the hotel's Valet and Housekeeping teams.  They were spectacular!  Literally every day (all hours) I called down for my car from my room, and it drove up as I walked from the elevator to the front door.  I mean these guys are either magic or very on top of things (or both).  And Housekeeping made sure to visit no matter how late I slept.  The room was immaculate every time I entered it.  One night I forgot to put up the Do Not Disturb sign, but still they didn't knock because they knew I was still asleep.

Truly, this hotel is well-run, very reasonably priced, and comes highly recommended from yours truly.

Small rooms but supposedly a good price for LA. Nice view but odd location, you get a view of a major highway. If you try to open the balcony, as expected all you hear is traffic. With that said, we didn't do that so we were fine. The room also felt a little small, it's nothing luxurious but it worked fine for our 1 evenings stay.

Excellent location near Brentwood, Beverly Hills, and Pacific Palisades.

The hotel invested a few hundred dollars in redecoration and they think that qualifies this property as 4 stars. Really, it is a 2 or 3 star hotel.

The rooms are fine, on the small side, and the service is quick. The property lacks any amenities, and the only reasons to stay here are price and location.

I do check-ins, but this is my first review.  I felt compelled.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL.  My experience this last week was terrible.  The place looks fine and the rooms are decent, but the service was unprofessional, inaccurate and even surly.  I had numerous problems with room service.  First, the button on the phone didn't even call room service, and when I could get connected, they frequently wouldn't answer.  Several times, my order was missing half its ingredients and other items were forgotten.  When I requested the missing items be brought, the delivery person seemed annoyed.  He returned when I was almost finished with my meal and was curt and unpleasant.  One time, the room service operator asked me to come upstairs and PICK UP MY OWN ORDER, because their room service person had "left early or something."  The bill they provide at the end is inscrutable.  Endless strange little fees, like "Bistro fee."  "Adj delivery charge."  Etc.  It's impossible to know if you're paying for what you should be.  It's a shame, because when they get the order right, the food isn't bad.  The service is.

The air conditioners sound like jet engines.  CNN doesn't work.  The wifi went down for several hours and was INCREDIBLY slow when working.  One of only two elevators was broken for several days.  When I checked out, the guy at the desk didn't even ask how my stay was, nor would he go over the incidental charges with me.  None of my issues were resolved to my satisfaction.  At least the valet is free.

Seriously, stay anywhere else.

I was pleasantly surprised.  When I heard "right next to the 405" and "renovated Holiday Inn," I wasn't expecting anything spectacular.  (Truth be told, I was expecting something depressing). What I found, though, is that the Anegleno has really done its best to make a sort of odd space (it's a round building) feel like a quirky, idiosyncratic, interesting, chic boutique hotel.

Loved the rooms which were, admittedly, small, but nicely and comfortably decorated.  Loved West Restaurant on the top floor with its mind-blowingly cool views of the city and, more importantly, its really good food (points for the lounge menu which featured one of my favorite combinations - grilled cheese and tomato soup). Other perks: free wireless (thank you, Angeleno!), and a very friendly staff.

My only suggestion: Do not stay on the freeway side of the hotel.  Apparently, it can get pretty noisy (that's why the rooms come with earplugs-- seriously!).  We stayed on the Church Street side and it was very quiet.

It's true that Angeleno doesn't have tons of amenities, but when you consider what the hotel is working with - a fundamentally oddly shaped building RIGHT next to the freeway - they have done an amazing job creating a distinctive, sleek atmosphere.

Great boutique hotel!!! I had a great stay.  From check in to check out the staff and service were great!  The room, while not overly extravagant was well put together and comfortable.  The size of the rooms may turn some travelers off, and the tv was very small, which could be the only complaints about the hotel.

One warning is there is nothing within walking distance of the hotel. If you want to do anything at all you must get in your car and drive to it. But I can see why it is such a popular Hollywood hangout as the the hotel is very chic!

Came here cause they offer shuttle service to ucla and once we checked in we found out it don't run on weekends so we took a taxi two days
Brought it to the managers attention after spending money on cabs n he gave us 24.00 in breakfast vouchers n cleared our 40.00 room charge n upgraded our room..
Awesome restaurant with great food n awesome view to boot, nice work hotel Angeleno......

With a daughter at UCLA, I've stayed at a number of hotels in Westwood but decided to try the Angeleno this time. I definitely will not be repeating the experience.

The negatives:

Freeway noise - the 405 is right by the hotel and the traffic noise is rather bothersome
Rooms - dark and looking rather shabby

But - the worst was when I came back to my room in the evening to a bad smell and a bath tub full of raw sewage.

Needless to say, I was moved to another room (but the engineer who came to inspect said it was a common occurrence and that the room next door - which they originally wanted to move me to - would have the same problem since they shared the same pipes).

Yuck!

Suffice it to say the rate (under $200) and location make it attractive. I had no clue this tall white circular building I've driven past for years was a hotel.  It literally sits on the freeway and the traffic is more than "white noise" which may be difficult for some to tolerate. Didn't bother me, bed is comfy and I slept fine.  I was disappointed with the restaurant WEST.  The bartender was rude when asked for a wine recommendation ("I don't know what you like"), well duh, I'm asking you to sell me on what YOU like!  Thai Snapper good. Abience lacking. Valet staff very accommodating when told I was going to need quick access to my car after checking in. Bonus: overnight parking is complimentary.

I may be a bit biased because I made Hotel Angeleno my home for two or so months back in the day...

But Hotel Angeleno is still my home away from home. My hideout. From Nelson in valet... to the manager, Anthony...to Jovver at the front desk. I always feel at home during my bi-weekly or weekly visits.

When I spoke with Anthony and Jovver at the front desk, they were genuinely happy, smiling, and easy to make conversation with after a long day at work and driving through Election Day traffic (Sunset and the 405 killed me).

I made my way up to the 17th floor -- WEST. One of my fave views of LA -- watched the sunset (and literally stayed at the bar until I got kicked out). The lobster bites were amazing... and the sliders -- goodness, I ordered four of them. And thank you, Hotel Angeleno, for having BBQ sauce and Thousand Island in stock to put on the side of my sliders -- you have no idea how many places in LA don't have BBQ sauce as an optional side. It drives this St. Louis girl crazy.

However, the bartender at this time -- he wasn't so sweet. And I'm not the only one who said this -- the guy next to me, whom I didn't even know, said, "Wow, he's kind of rude to you." And then my newfound friends from San Francisco even said, "Yeah, that guy is a d***." When my SF friends asked where they should go after the bar, I recommended The Wilshire. The bartender jumped in and said, "Don't go to The Wilshire, that place is sh*t," and completely embarrassed me and questioned my expertise (I do, in fact, throw events and go to venues for a living.)

I reassured my new bar friends that maybe this bartender gentleman is just having a bad day because he's from Rhode Island and roots for the Patriots and still was having a hard time getting over the (un)fortunate loss against the Seahawks. But I did get a little irked when my friend and I ordered two Glenlivets neat... and the bartender gave me only 75% of the amount he gave to my friend (was it because I used a complimentary drink ticket?) And THEN! I used a third complimentary drink ticket (I got it from a friend who had left earlier)... and instead of quietly telling me that I can't have three complimentary drinks in one night, he made a scene rather loudly and embarrassed me in front of everyone at the bar by telling me I couldn't have three free drinks in one night (maybe he's been recently secretly hanging out at Sonny McLean's too often and picked up bad habits). -- I wish bartenders knew that I like to *start* tips with $20 bills when I get free drinks. But that was not the case on this specific evening. He just got $10 instead... because he almost made me cry.

I thought I was being overly sensitive from my stressful day, but then I heard that the bartender pissed off three Irish guys earlier in the day. Helloooo - never piss off Irish folks or Filipinos when it comes to alcohol.

I helped my SF friends get a taxi when I was at valet... they said they were going to give Hotel Angeleno zero stars on Yelp, and I said "No -- don't base your rating solely upon some angry a-hole Boston wannabe." (Sorry. Just saying. Had bad Boston experiences with the ex).

But really. All a stressed out business woman wants to do after a ridiculous day is have a drink or four in the presence of an approachable bartender.

Anyway, on a brighter note...

The valet guys remembered my name! It has been over four years since I've lived there, and they still remember me! When I left, Lonnie was so polite and asked me if I needed anything or would like to leave my information with the manager.

Despite the once-in-a-blue-moon bar experience, I still give Hotel Angeleno seven stars. I mean... five stars. Can't wait to go back!

P.S. Bring back the chopped salad!! That used to be my daily breakfast... with a Tequila Sunrise. And while you're at it, bring back the calamari as well.

Like Habit Y says, just for the bar on the 17th floor it's a 4.5 star (I cut half because on Friday night they called last call at 11:30P and turned the lights on @ 11:45P, even though there were about 20 people in our party rarin' to drink and there were another 10 couples and various other individuals who had just got there)

They also have a decent meeting room, but due to the circular design (which is cool because it makes for a cool view at the bar!)

Also instead of dealing with the valet, opt to park across the street for free!

For the price and location I was impressed with this hotel. The rooms were modern and decently spacious. A major plus for free parking and wifi (hard to find both). The staff was relatively nice there, although the valet was a little slow at times. The restaurant upstairs, West, has amazing views of the city. My biggest complaints is the tiny fitness room and the overpriced coffee shop on the first floor. I think I paid $3.75 for a cup of coffee (not latte)!

Got this hotel via Priceline, I was told that this was a 4 star hotel, I complained to them because I knew it wasn't, but nevertheless it was booked.  If you have to go here, book a room opposite the 405.  Rooms are very small, staff is very nice.  Parking is included which saves you close to 30 bucks a day for hotels nearby.

Booked through Expedia - and unfortunately due to family emergency - needed to cancel. Gave 24 hours notice and they refused to release my reservation. Unlike every other hotel I've every booked. I will not consider staying there in the future. First person on the telephone said "sure, no problem... we do this all the time...we just need to get a call from Expedia"... then when Expedia called (they were great as always) the next person insisted that they would not release the reservation for any reason and I would be charged the entire amount.

Yuck.... won't ever consider them again!

I stayed in this hotel for a night and I really enjoyed it! All the staff is very nice and they had a lot to offer. Close to freeways, free valet, awesome food and drinks plus an amazing view at their restaurant and they have a complimentary wine hour which I thought was a nice little touch. The rooms were very clean and nice.  I would definitely stay here again.

I am giving this hotel 5 stars because of the value.  No it is not the nicest hotel in Los Angeles, BUT it is so convenient and it is really nice.  Also, the room rate was fantastic.  I could not have stayed in such a nice place for the same cost.  It is a cool modern place so close to UCLA, Beverly Hills, and the West side.  I would stay again and the staff go out of their way to assist in any way they can.  Also valet parking was free!

We had a daughter married in Beverly Hills over Labor Day and arranged to have 16 of our out-of-town guests stay at the Angeleno.  I have to say the feedback I received from them was universally positive.  As is mentioned elsewhere, the location is great for someone  who wants to visit Beverly Hills, Hollywood, UCLA, Brentwood, Santa Monica--its easy to find and get to from LAX, easy to get to the beach--really was a perfect location for us and our guests. And its a quick shot to Encino/Sherman Oaks two exits down the 405N.  What was most often mentioned to us was how friendly and helpful the staff was--we actually drove over a couple of nights ourselves to join our friends for the free wine hour (technically just for guests, I suppose, but we were made to feel welcome as well, and free hors d'ourves (sp?) also!).  Free Wi-Fi, free guest parking, nice clean pool, free shuttle within 3 miles.  As is obvious, we couldn't have been more pleased. We have not eaten at the West restaurant on top, tho' did go to happy hour there once before recommending to our guests, to check it out. We only spoke to one of our guests who did eat there--both had fish, both very pleased.  We didn't stay there, didn't eat there but we'd recommend it again without hesitation.

Needed a hotel to stay for us to do our college visits to USC & UCLA.  Great location.  Its true to ask for a room away from the freeway but other then that nice place to stay.  Comfy.  Complimentary valet, but yeah there isn't any place around to go.  But they have a shuttle you can use within a 3 mi radius.  The Getty is very close so I want to stay here again to visit the Getty.  You can see it from the hotel.  Staff was very nice and helpful.

Only things to look out for is the frig is full of stuff they sell so its hard to use; no microwave , if u are sensitive to noises like to sleep you can hear the freeway or street and bathroom door is different-it slides and has no lock plus it is frosted glass its kind of a privacy sort of issue hard to explain.  But the beds are really comfy, staff esp valets are nice and there's shuttle you can use but be sure you ask as you have to schedule it/make an appt.  We were going to use it but didn't.  There's one at desk then the one's in the bathroom.  Comfortable room and a good rate ccompared to others (occupancy tax which is added on is high so beaware of that when you see your bill)

Very convenient location.
The rooms feel a bit cramped.
Due to the design of the building, almost every room has a decent view.

Valet parking is included, but it is only one car per room.

We chose this hotel for the great location near the Getty Museum.  Generally, a good hotel for that purpose but it's really in a residential neighborhood and there are no other restaurants or cafes within walking distance.  Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful.  The room was smaller than expected but clean. The pool area is  nicely set-up with outdoor furniture and fireplace and a good use of the limited space. The maid service is a little spotty - we had three people but only one hand towel and two wash cloths were left in the room, even after the second day. Also, the coffee pot was missing which we didn't need but seemed odd and sloppy. The best, most unexpected part, was the wonderful restaurant on the top floor.  We had excellent service and wonderful food for both dinner and breakfast. I think I'd make plans to eat there when in LA, even if not staying at the hotel.

We stayed here as part of a wedding group for three nights.

Cons:
Only two bath towels provided for a four-person room.
No one cleaned our room the first day.
Small wedge-shaped room.
Toilet was always running.
Balcony overlooks the 405, which is REALLY NOISY and is hardly a scenic view
No complimentary breakfast.
Parking is only valet, which is a pain.

Pros:
Staff are really, really nice
GREAT pool and pool area, lots of cushy loungers, nice pool towels, pool deep enough to dive in, pool heated to just the right temperature, fun music playing while you swim (did I mention how great the pool was?)
Chest of toys that they let young guests pick from
You can use the mini bar as a fridge -- just ask at the front desk for the key
Easy to get places since the freeway is right there.

My Wife and I booked our hotel 3 months ago for our post wedding rest stop. We called in the morning to make sure a room was available for us and they said it was being worked on as we we'll be arriving after midnight. As we pulled up in our limo the rude valet shook his head and turned our limo away. We still proceeded to enter the lobby to be told by the manager on duty that folks overstayed so there are no rooms available so we are essentially fucked for the night!!!! SO YOUR SAYING THAT IF I WANNA OVERSTAY MY NIGHT THEN IT IS PART OF YOUR PROTOCOL TO ACCOMODATE SUCH RESERVATIONS? And so, they had us in lobby for an hour as we had to raise hell for a solution. They had to book us at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza for 2 nights for free TO PUT THE ICING BACK ON OUR CAKE! Though this was an unexpected outcome, the whole set up to this accommodation
Was painful for our wedding night.

I stayed 3 nights at the Hotel Angeleno located right next to the 405 Highway. It's always a challenge to find the right hotel in Los Angeles depending on what you plan  to do in the city.

Location 4/5: Location wise, the hotel is in the middle of everything but you need of course to have a car. You're 5min away from Westwood and the UCLA Campus, 20 min from Hollywood and 15 min away from the beach. So you deserve different areas of Los Angeles in a reasonable amount of time compared to if you were staying in Santa Monica for example.
Service 4/5: The staff was great and really helpful from the 1st minute I stepped into the hotel. They were always available to answer your questions and with a smile.
Room 3/5: Rooms were OK. The tower is like a cylinder so the rooms have a different configuration than the usual ones you have. The only problem with this hotel is the proximity to the 405. The rooms can be really noisy depending on the floor and the side your room is located. This hotel is definitely for people that are considered as deep sleeper.

Good hotel and good price specially because the valet and internet were included in the price I paid. The only problem is the noise but you're in a great location.

I stayed here over the weekend with my family and I had a pretty decent experience, however there are a few things that I need to point out to those who are thinking about staying here.

Pros:
1. The beds were very comfortable! Not once did I have a sleepless night - and I was rooming with my parents (1is a habitual farter and the other snores like a bear)!
2. The food was amazing!
3. Beautiful hotel

Cons:
1. Located right off the freeway so it's very noisey.
2. Only offer Valet service, gets a bit pricey if you are having to go in and out throughout the day like we did.
3. Their room service was ridiculously priced! I paid $30 for a grilled cheese/fries and tomato soup (and soda)!!!
4. Their bathroom doors are ridiculous! See through?!?! Really?!?! Very awkward considering I was in a room with my parents...ever heard of a thing called privacy?!

All in all, I would stay here again, but not if I'm sharing a room with someone I'm not comfortable with considering they can see your every move while in the bathroom.

Perks to this place is that the beds are very comfortable the room is cozy and clean, complimentary parking and internet  and each room has it's own balcony with a view. Our room looked over the 405 (blah) and to the left we had a view of the hills and The Getty. I came here after a surgical procedure that I had in Beverly Hills. Wanting to be close to the Doctors office so that I can follow up the following morning and not wanting to be too incredibly far.  The bar also has comp. happy hour on wine only from 5:30-6:30 and a decent happy hour menu for cocktails. I will say that while everything was nice and great customer service we were not impressed by the food. They have some kinks to work out but other than that this place was good.

It is a little loud due to the 405 but when you close the sliding glass door it sounds like a far off muffled sound. I would stay here again..

We had a lovely stay-cation at the Hotel Angeleno.
Great location for easy access to LA (we spent day at the Getty which is right up the block!).
We arrived just in time for the free wine hour in the hotel lobby and tried delicious wines.
We decided to eat at the restaurant WEST and Carlos our waiter was incredible.  Really attentive and informative about the menu.  They had lots of great drink choices and the food was fabulous.  The view from WEST is incredible.
I love hotels that are clean and quiet.  And the Angeleno was both (even with the 405 right below!)
I would definitely recommend the Angeleno.  The rates are extremely reasonably and the rooms very roomy and comfortable.
Will definitely be back --- to both the hotel and/or restaurant.

I stayed here for about a week. It's very close to the Getty Museum.

The free internet and free valet was nice. Usually in hotels with free internet, the internet tends to be slow, but it was fast here.

The beds are big and comfortable.Even though it's located next to the freeway, I didn't hear any traffic noise. Their service is fast, and everyone is friendly.

They have free valet which is nice, but when it's busy I wish I could have just walked to my car. There's usually one 1 or 2 people working at the valet.

Great customer service!  We arrived late last night and were greeted by a very friendly employee, Ron.  I mentioned it was our anniversary and he immediately looked to see if he could upgrade our room.  He got us a great view high up in the building.  Furthermore he handed us a complimentary bottle of Champagne and sent us on our way with a warm feeling.  The room was small but cozy and very clean.  We ordered room service for breakfast which was delivered on time, warm, and tasted good.  They forgot one item but delivered it within 3 minutes of my calling to let them know it was missing.  The entire hotel seems to have been recently renovated and looks good.  We didn't get a chance to experience any of the amenities but hope to on our next stay.

We got this hotel from hotwire for $131 for four nights just before the 2013 ended.  It used to be the holiday inn and it's located next to the freeway 405. It's a very nice hotel but hotwire listed the hotel as 4 stars which isn't. I would say the hotel is close to either 3 or 3.5 stars.  As you know, the hotel is in the middle of the freeway, so there is nothing else around the hotel. However, there's a full service great views restaurant located on the highest floor on 17th. The menu prices are pricey like 4 stars hotel. There's a very vice little pool that you can get sun tan before 2pm as the mountain is behind.  Our room is on the 12 floor and away from the freeway which I requested as I heard it's very noisy if the rooms are facing the freeway. Our room is very nice and the California king size bed is huge.  Overall, we liked it but the air conditioning might be too loud for some people.

Hotel Angeleno~hmmmm-my opinion is a mixed bag.  I reserved this hotel through Shell Vacations.  I didn't pay anything to stay at this hotel for five days.  Nice.

HEADS UP!  When I made my reservation staying here, I made sure I told the Hotel Manager I wanted a hotel room facing the BEACH SIDE and definitely NOT to book a hotel room facing the 405 FREEWAY!  Well, the manager forgot, so I had to go downstairs and tell the Manager I made reservations for a hotel room facing the beach side, so they quickly moved me to the correct hotel room I reserved.

The hotel room was nicely decorated, but small-kinda cramped . . . uh~compact, including the ensuite bathroom was well-claustrophobic when you closed the sliding bathroom door.

The restaurant's breakfast menu served was good and the service was par.

The swimming pool-I never used the swimming pool.  It was very noisy outside.

Valet parking-my car was safe and nothing was stolen or missing from my car.

The hotel's location has easy access to the 405 Freeway and Beverly Hills/Brentwood/Bel Air/West LA/Pacific Palisades, especially if you know the shortcuts around the area.

Don't stay here. Even though it is by the extremely noisy freeway, it is very difficult to get to this hotel, particularly with all the contraction going on around it. It is near nothing. There is absolutely nothing within walking distance of this place, so if you don't want to drive or pay for a taxi, you must eat in the hotel. Knowing this, they provide no store or vending machines to buy snacks, soda, bottled water, etc.
The rooms are OK, but small. Pick a different hotel.

West lounge. This place is absolutely amazing. My best friend and i wanted to get dressed up and go out for a night out on the town, we had been highly recommended by another friend to check out the west lounge. Upon our entrance we were greeted by a friendly staff. And already we felt welcomed. The view was breathtaking.

Our waiter Carlos was spectacular. Friendly, very attentive without being overbearing. We both started with a refreshing Brentwood salad, I had the Seabass paired with sav Blanc and she had a luscious ribeye steak paired with a cab (both recommended by our knowledgeable waiter) the fish was perfectly moist, the sauce compliments it very well. I'm so thankful for taking his advice. For dessert we shared the lava cake- simply mouthwatering.

Upon arrival we were not greeted at the valet; infact we unloaded our own bags and brought them to our room. The front desk provided us complimentary breakfast vouchers with 2 complimentary drink vouchers for the poor service at arrival. Our room was nothing short of a Motel 6 that had a new bedspread. It was small and outdated. We decided to go to the restaurant and order a drink to relax. As we were poorly greeted there as well we started to feel that this was the normal etiquette of the hotel. We ordered 2 martinis from the bartender and provided him our drink vouchers. He was quick to point out (Literally) that the cost of out drinks were more ($2.00) than the vouchers allowed. Then proceeded to let us know it was not an issue.  We went to dinner that evening away from the hotel. As we arrived back we were the only ones around. The valet forcefully and very rudily pushed our driver out of the hotel drive telling her that she was in the way. Funny thing was, there was NO one around. At that point I'd had it with the overall rudeness of the way we were being treated and now other people. I voiced my frustration to the valet and asked him why he is being so rude to her? At that point he became beligerent towards me as if I had done something wrong. As I walked inside the front desk guy who looked as if he had not taken a shower or was even presentable to work at a hotel approached me. He asked me very sternly what my problem was? As I told him he was also rude and we were tired of being treated so poorly that is when things escalated. He basically followed us to the restaurant and to our room with security and threatened to call the police if we did not leave. Apparently they do not take to kind to being approached back. He was very rude to me and my mother and we were kicked out of the hotel and our room and yes, they charged us. On the way out another customer was checking out and proclaimed that he knew exaclty what we meant by saying how rude and poor the staff were. I am convinced that these "exceptional" reviews on here are not valid from actual people who have stayed at this hotel.

I recently stayed at Hotel Angelno & celebrated the new year =)

This quaint boutique cylinder-shaped hotel is right off of the busy 405 freeway, within distance of the Getty museum. If you're staying overnight, valet parking is complimentary, otherwise it's $25 for overnight parking. If you're going to a party for the evening, I believe depending on the event, it's $5.

I believe this hotel has only 17 floors. The rooms are pretty decent but small! Room balcony is surprisingly short though, so beware! If you're drunk, stay away. Very convenient place to stay at if you're partying on the 17th floor ;)

Hotel is perfectly located if you are visiting a UCLA student.  5 minute drive to campus and Weyburn.  Hotel is easy to get to & the staff is wonderful.  Polite and very attentive.  Front desk was more than helpful many times over.  The guy who drives the shuttle is awesome and was very helpful in giving us pointers about LA.  He saved us from roaming around campus looking like lost a couple of lost children!
The rooms are fine.  Not top of the line but they were very clean.  The AC was a bit loud, but it provided some good white noise for the night.  The hallway noise was a bit challenging and we had to stuff a towel under our door to keep out the hallway conversation.  We had a pool view room so noise from the highway was not an issue and we enjoyed the poolside fireplace in the evening.
The West was fine.  Nice views and the food was fine. A little pricey for what you get, but so is LA!  I will definitely stay here again and again.  It is the best option for the area unless you want to stay at the W for $450 (we paid $270 including parking).

Checked in the day after Christmas. The first room I went to smelled like smoke, so went down to the front desk to get a new one - which was not a problem at all. Yes - it's a no smoking hotel, even on the balconies, but heads up - we went to the pool a bit later and looked up to see smokers on their balcony. They can't police everyone all the time.....

I have no issues with the service. Everyone was very nice. The issue is the noise, of course, from the 405....and the fact that there are only double beds in rooms. If you are a family of four and try to use just one room, you really need two queens, and that just doesn't exist here. So as a family, it doesn't really work...and if I were a vacationer or a business person on my own here, I wouldn't stay here because of the noise. These are things that they just physically can't change, obviously, so this review is all about the location and options...vs. the service and amenities. Bottom line is that I wouldn't go back.

Two nights ago, I went to dinner with my boyfriend at the West restaurant at Hotel Angeleno, and had a great experience! Carlos, our awesome waiter was really nice & hospitable, plus, the food was amazing.

We ordered the Curry Mussels and the Lobster Mac & Cheese for an appetizer. The portions were decent and the flavors were mouthwatering and distinctly satisfying. Don't forget to taste the Curry Mussel broth which was delightedly savory. For the main course, I ordered the Vegetable Lasagna while my boyfriend ordered the Lamb Chops. The lamb chops were tender, juicy, and crispy on the outside. My lasagna tasted delicious, made with fresh ingredients: pesto and burrata cheese.

The dessert we decided on was the Mocha Lava Cake which was a tantalizing mix of warm and cold in our mouths.

We paired our meal with glasses of wine. My boyfriend had the Cabernet while I had the Zinfandel. They each brought out the rich flavors in our dishes.

I definitely will be back again to try out the Sunday Brunch and Happy Hour. Their lounge & restaurant are on the 17th floor, with a breathtaking, panoramic view of Los Angeles. We also happen to live right across the street so it was an easy walk (in high heels) to get there. What more could you ask for in a dining spot??

I bet some people are going to disagree with me but I generally loved and enjoyed my stay. Maybe it was because I visited LA for the very first time. (Actually it was my first time in the US.) It was a bit pricey but still the cheapest of all the hotels I saw online in this particular area. The inside is modern and comfy. The hotel was also near to everything I wanted to see. I would love to come back in the future.

A great deal via hotel tonight! The best bargain is no parking charge!!

Most of the hotels in LA will hit you with at least  a $20 parking fee, which always drives me nuts.  The Angeleno has complementary Valet and wifi!  What more can you ask for from a hotel.

The lobby is great, the rooms are clean and the beds are actually very comfortable.

Keep in mind this is not the RItz or Four-Seasons, but is it a clean, safe, HIP hotel.  If you need a place to crash for a night and want a deal, this is the spot on the West Side of LA.

This is an Excellent hotel, a driving distant to many things.   This is a hidden Gem,  to my surprise Guest service here is mind blowing that's the impression I'm gonna remember.  In addition, there's free parking, valet, that's unheard of in the prime area.

On sunset and the 405.  Request a room higher up and facing away from the highway.

We stayed here for a local wedding, and luckily got a better rate for it.  It's an okay place to stay for less than $200/night - but if you're willing to spend a little more, I'd say go check out the Luxe Hotel across the street, which is definitely more upscale.

There is complimentary valet here, which is a sell - we never had to wait more than 5 minutes for the car.  The rooms are tiny and slightly run down.  Although there are "balconies" I don't see why you'd want to go out, unless you want to gawk at 405 traffic.  The beds and pillows are super soft (if you like that, otherwise it may hurt your back/neck).  We had a broken iron and a ghetto ironing board - so had to wear wrinkly dress clothes.  Only one robe is provided in the bathroom.

There's a nice small outdoor pool and lounge area.  The fitness center is next to the pool and TINY.  Only 5 things - a bench, a (broken) bike, an elliptical, a treadmill, and a small weight machine... in addition to some free weights (that were strangely lighter than advertised... maybe they're trying to make you feel stronger and more buff while in LA???)

Nothing's within walking distance - except the Luxe Hotel across the street.  The top floor West Lounge/Restaurant has great views.  Breakfast was acceptable, at hotel prices, but nothing great.

Would stay here if you need to be cheap and close to this 405 area (10 minutes from the Getty and Skirball Cultural Center).  Otherwise, check out the Luxe or look elsewhere.

WOW...Where do I begin to describe how HORRIBLE this hotel is. For my wedding, we blocked out rooms for our guests, and also booked suites for my fiance and I, as well as my parents and the boardroom to get ready in. From the time we arrived their service was TERRIBLE. People were so extremely rude.

The worst part of this stay was that I had $2,000 STOLEN from my purse - Which I thought was safe in my suite, but apparently not. I followed up with management Sunday when I realized it was missing, and after 2 weeks had gone by very little follow up - All I got was an "I'm so sorry" and that they were letting their insurance handle it. However, I never heard from the insurance company.

I truly hope this review saves someone from going through the experience that my family, friends, wedding party and myself had to go through here.

Never again will I stay here. First off, it's close to impossible to get to with all the detours and construction. Upon check in I was given the wrong room that was already occupied and key did not work, had to go back to lobby for a new room. Once I finally for into my room I noticed that the shower was filthy and toilet would not flush. Nice looking exterior but horrible interior and cleanliness

Really nice hotel. Great location right off the 405 on Sunset Blvd, although sometimes driving in or out of the parking area is difficult because of the traffic of the surrounding streets. Enjoyed a nice vacation here because we had a hefty gift certificate for the penthouse level restaurant (which I would separately give 5 stars).

This place is wonderful because of the free valet parking, free shuttle service to surrounding places like UCLA or the Getty Center, friendly staff and nicely appointed rooms.

The biggest downside is that the rooms are pretty small. They are nice and clean on the inside, just disappointingly small. Each room has a beautiful view with a small "balcony". I put "balcony" in quotes because the standing area is only about a foot large. The ledge is made up of bars so if your room is high up it's pretty scary to be standing out there--you feel like you're going to fall! We just kept the screen closed and enjoyed the view from the inside. You can't hear the freeway unless you've got the windows open of course.

The place is relatively nice, and conveniently located. The free valet parking is a huge plus. However, for me, it's a little too expensive for what you get from the room.

But the West restaurant and lounge is AMAZING. I highly recommend it!

The service was excellent.. our guy Chris stopped by a few times to check on us, he was great.

I had the quinoa burger and thought it was delicious!

All in all it was good food, good service and a great view, what more can you ask for?

I will definitely be back!

Hotel Angeleno is a charming boutique hotel nestled right off the 405 near the Getty.  I've seen it and driven past it for years but never thought to go experience it until I was invited to an event there last week.  The hotel lobby and restaurant/lounge are just beautiful.  The over all decor and feel of this hotel is posh, trendy and cool.  Its very L.A.  I came here on a Friday night with a friend for drinks.  We went to the lounge/bar/restauant on the 17th floor.  Oh-Emm-Gee!  The view is breath taking.  At night in LA, I think its hard to find sexier view or ambiance than the one here.  The restaurant has really great food too.  We shared some appetizers and had some really fabulous martinis. The cocktail menu is excellent.

This is an ideal date spot.  Really fab taproom to chill with friends or someone special.  I absolutely loved it!  If you're looking for a sexy spot to impress your lover or just want to enjoy the city with friends, I suggest you try the lounge on the 17th floor of this hotel.  Maybe you'll get lucky and need to get a room here.  Wink.

Good Luck! xo Dre

FYI: Master yelper Joseph A. informed me this is the hotel where George Michael filmed the video for his hit song "Carless Whisper".   Awesome right?  MTV history...

Really wanted to give this hotel more stars but... a few things:
- our room had a smoke/ cigarette smell... very faint, but nevertheless present
- double full size beds and not queen
I will give high marks for super friendly staff and great modern ambience. The fact that it's right next to the bustling 405 that's under going major construction doesn't bode well. It's fine the room is discounted but otherwise, there are much better choices

The hotel really can't control the stupid and slow road construction going on around them, so just know there might be some traffic delays (welcome to L.A.).
We've been fortunate enough to get a great deal with the Angeleno on our last two visits and will be pleased to visit them again.
We were five floors above the off-ramp on our first visit, with a GREAT view toward down-town. It was a little noisy on the balcony, but as soon as the sliding door shut, the noise was gone.
On our last visit, we were on the third floor on the other side of the building. We prefer the freeway side, frankly.
The staff is EXCELLENT and friendly. We were always greeted with genuine smiles when entering the hotel. The woman who cleaned our room left some toiletries that we'd forgotten along with a sweet note. The room was always SUPER-clean and there's a great option to forego maid service and receive a generous coupon for the eatery upstairs.
The valet employees were always friendly and SUPER-fast. We never waited more than a few minutes for the car. They welcomed us back every time and even though they were swamped sometimes, they were still efficient and polite. The valet parking was free for guests (if you don't figure-in the few dollars we tipped each time).
We never got a chance to visit the nightly wine offering in the lobby, but what a nice perk!
The pool area and gym were very nice.
We visited the lounge on the first visit and were delighted by the view and the service.
We felt very welcome.
This building is a landmark and - if it weren't for the construction, the location would be perfect...minutes from anywhere on the West Side and the valley.
We have fond memories of both visits and hope to visit again very soon.

My husband and I stayed here 9 days and eight night while my husband had two eye surgeries at the Jules Stein Institute. The whole staff here is amazing, especially Michael, Elijah and Edith at the front desk.  There is a very kind waiter at the restaurant at the top of the hotel named Segundo who always welcomed us like we were special. It was not a pleasant time for us but everyone there were extremely concerned and caring.  We really appreciated all they did for us.  Great beds, btw!!

This hotel really is a gem. I had stayed here previously for a long weekend about a year ago, and after being faced with a longer stay in LA, I immediately thought of The Angeleno.

The hotel is in a great location and provides easy access to most major destinations in LA-- though of course remember that LA's traffic really can be as bad as people say it is. The 405 (LA's major highway) is under construction, so be sure that if you have a car, your GPS is updated or you have a phone with Google Maps, because certain roads get closed at various times throughout the week, leading to a lot of GPS' to get confused and reroute like crazy people.

The West Restaurant in the hotel is quite excellent and has a nice variety of staple menu items and specials. Though bear in mind that even if you're dropping $100 bucks on a meal, if you don't plan on drinking booze, the waitstaff will immediately treat you with a little less attention than other tables. Par for the course, though our one waitress was pretty rude.

The room itself was incredibly comfortable, it was overlooking the highway, but with a great view of the mountains. Despite its proximity to the highway, very little to noise got in, especially with that AC running!

The hotel also has a lovely pool, patio and fireplace section.

The staff, management especially, was incredibly helpful and accommodating and go above and beyond to make their guests happy.

I highly recommend this hotel and would certainly stay here again in the future!

Stayed on 6/22/2013 and a couple of things made me really unhappy.

- Traffic noise. The hotel's right next to the 405 and you'll never get a chance to forget it. Even with my room being on the 11th floor, it's probably the noisiest hotel I've stayed in. In fact it's probably noisier than any motel I've been in too.

- Room service. I tried calling at 9:20pm; no-one picked up. Left a message; no-one called me back. Phoned back repeatedly over thirty minutes; no-one picked up. Went up to the restaurant to try order direct: there was no host at the desk and it took about five minutes before one of the waiters walking past thought to ask me if I needed help.  There's a mandatory 18% gratuity on room service orders. Ha!

The Pros:
- the wonderfully comfy king size beds
- the balcony in each room (although it over looks the 405 and lets in noise 24x7)

The Cons:
- impossible to walk anywhere
- the food was very average - the lobster ravioli was actually lobster elbows and they were routinely out of several items from their menu
- the slow elevators

In terms of service and decor, consider the heritage of the Angeleno, which is a renovated Holiday Inn. Do not expect a luxury or at least a very accommodating hotel.

I was, as the Brits say, gobsmacked when we drove up to discover that this was the updated version of the Holiday Inn Westwood that I always stayed in when this was part of my sales territory, many many years ago.  It's so well located to UCLA and 405.  Unfortunately now 405 is under construction and entrance and egress from the freeway are tortuous.  As others have said, it's been taken upscale inside, and we were very comfortable, although the unseasonable cold weather meant we never tried out the pool area.  Even though we weren't on the freeway side, it was quite noisy, but that's what you get for easy access.

Apparently at the end of June they will no longer be part of the Joie de Vivre group, but even now when they are just about to change hands, there was no drop off in service.

Plusses:
All employees were very pleasant
Very convenient location
Comfortable beds and good pillows
Free Wi Fi
Free parking
gorgeous view from the restaurant (which I only tried for very ordinary breakfast.)on the top floor
Complimentary afternoon wine service (albeit stingy)

Minuses:
Parking is valet only, so of course you have to tip every time
Snack store is only open until 6:00; selection is very limited and prices are high.
Even when you're not on the freeway side, traffic noise is loud
Limited TV channel selection

I can't blame it on the hotel, but like so many places in LA, there's no place around where you can go for a walk and explore.  Within 4 blocks in any direction, the sidewalks evaporate.  We got a pretty good price for the location, $170 per night, including parking.

Super ultra loud AC unit, room facing the 405 = no view and loud traffic all day and night, no soda machines, loud traffic, dusty room, warm minibar, no robe. This place is really top notch. I arrived at 12:45am after a long drive from the Bay Area on a Friday night. I had used priceline.com and therefore booked the room basically sight unseen. I pulled off the 405 and the street the hotel is located on was shutdown for roadwork. I tried to take a back road, failed miserably and ended up just driving up to the road block and asking them to let me through. They did and I pulled into the hotel parking lot pretty tired and a little frustrated.

The valet was standing outside at 12:45am and was welcoming which was definitely a good sign. We walked into the lobby and the lady behind the counter was friendly and super helpful. I think her name was Mari and she was very service oriented, she checked our reservation and checked us in.

Here was the first instance that set Hotel Angeleno apart, priceline had booked me a single bed in a handicapped room. That wouldn't have been an issue if I was alone but I needed a room for 2 adults and a kid, I had definitely specified that when I booked online so I had to laugh when she said it was a single bed.

Without missing a beat Mari found us a bigger room with a King and made sure we would have it for the two nights we had booked. At that moment I knew that the folks at Hotel Angeleno are pretty kick ass.

The room was nice, great amenities, clean and modern. The view from our 10th floor room was great, we could scan the entire skyline. Definitely keep the kids off the balcony though, super easy for them to horse around and fall.

The valet team was great, not once did I have to wait for more than 5 minutes for my vehicle. Of course I tipped them every time but I am sure I would have had great service regardless. Open and closing the door for you, helping with luggage, they even gave my 2 year old a stuffed animal. These guys do a great job!

I would 100% stay at Hotel Angeleno again.

Got a great rate from Priceline.  Beautiful room very nicely decorated, CLEAN.  Front desk was very accommodating, honoring my request for a high floor with a South East view.  This gave me a view of Westwood, Century City  downtown and (the best part for me,) is  the airplanes lined up to land at LAX.  I found watching the huge Sunset Blvd/ 405 freeway interchange project from 15 stories high to be fascinating.

The valets were so friendly.  My rent a car came with filthy windows.  The next morning, I was heading to San Diego.  I asked if someone would have time to clean them for me, and the next morning I was greeted with spotless windows, Thanks again guys!
Lobby is very comfortable as was my entire stay.

So why not a 5 star??
West Restaurant needs some menu and food preparation help.  Service for breakfast was chaotic.

Cafe in the lobby could really use more snacks, and beverage selections.  I can't figure out how they are missing this profit center.

Lastly, and I'm sure this drives housekeeping crazy and is item #1 on managements to do list, replace carpets in hallways.

I should have listened to the wisdom of crowds. Yelpers gave this place a 3 1/2 stars but I figured since it was listed as a four star hotel it should be better. Nope. It's a solid three star kinda place.

Here are details:

Pro:
- Friendly staff (especially Lonny and Edith who are both very caring)
- Free parking for your first car
- Comfortable beds
- Free Internet up to 1 Mbps (you can pay if you want 5 or 15 Mbps)
- Nice fireplace by the pool
- Free shuttle to anywhere within 3 miles

Con:
- Feels like the holiday inn
- Not pet friendly, despite what Hotwire says
- Fitness room smells bad and is dark and sad looking
- Overpriced. We paid $143 + tax but I think a fair price for this place would be $119-$133 until they fix the issues mentioned here
- They permit smoking by the pool and fireplace so that sucks for us non-smokers
- Pool is a little cold, no jacuzzi
- Coffee pot in the room didn't work
- Frig in the room is not a frig, it's a chiller to keep your drink slightly cool. If you want a frig, you have to ask for one and they'll bring you one that is banged up and looks like it was pre-owned by a college student.
- You can hear the freeway. The windows are pretty thick and do a pretty good job of blocking 80% of the noise but you can still clearly hear the 405.
- Air conditioner is loud but it helps block out the noise from the freeway so the loudness ends up being a plus.
- You're probably breathing in unfiltered polluted air straight from the 405 freeway

Lastly and most importantly in my book - especially because there's no where else to eat close by - the restaurant is no good. It might be good if it was 30% cheaper but even the. It's just sort of sad and neglected.

A couple examples:

- The chips that came with the ceviche were low quality and very stale. How much does a handful of chips cost? A quarter? Seriously, if you want to have a one syllable restaurant name written in a fancy font, buy some fresh Cabo Chips to make up for the flavorless ceviche

- The wood cabinet behind us has tape marks along the top that could be easily taken off if someone used a magic eraser sponge for 15 seconds. The edges of the brown wooden tables are worn down and need a quick fix with a furniture marker. They're both easy fixes and yet no one notices the mediocrity or cares to fix it. The food tastes like it was prepared with the same philosophy which is unfortunate because the view is nice so the place has potential.

I realize that all of these are first world problems and that they are no big deal but they definitely don't seem like they belong in a four star hotel that charges $248 a night. Even at $143 it felt a bit shabby.

Last night 11/06/2014 my friend and I checked into the Angeleno. The valet was quick and to the point when we arrived. Ryan at the front desk was nice in giving us the run down to the events taking place that evening along with recommending their restaurant West on the 17th floor. After spending some time in our room we decided to check out West. Upon our arrival we were greeted by the hostess and the smell of fish. We were asked if we had reservations, we started no and were given the options of the bar or lounge. We decided on the lounge. It took about ten minutes for the waitress to come. After placing our order, 2 simple drinks and an order of tempura the waiting game began. Our drinks came after what felt like an eternity and our tempura came after we were done with our drinks. To our surprise the tempura was everything but what we expected. After it came we were stuck with a mix of sweet potato fries (which taste like fried chicken), mushrooms, pickle spears and onions. Our main thought was " where in the world of tempura/Japanese cuisine would this be considered tempura. I mostly ate the "tempura"mainly because I felt bad my friend had paid so much for this portion of disgusting tempura served with horseradish. My friend asked the waitress for ranch and she looked at him as if that was the stupidest questions she had been asked all day, the ranch came of course ten minutes later. After eating our tempura we had to wait yet again for the tab. At this point we were being annoyed because there was absolutely no reason for the indifference from the staff when it was clear that those around us were being treated differently. Upon completion of our awful experience at West we went downstairs to checkout. My friend expressed his concerns to the front desk girl Amelia or Amalia and she to was indifferent. Instead of having us speak to a manager she simply said " I'm sorry you feel that way " checked us out and send us away. After this experience we can honestly say we will not be returning here, the only way we were able to avenge our mistreatment was by not leaving a tip for the waitress nor the valet. It's so sad to acknowledge that in this day in age we are still looked down upon because we look like two college kids. Shame on the staff at The Angeleno, except Ryan.

Great location! Right off the freeway next to the 405 and it's really close to the Getty museum! This place is kinda looks like a tall watch tower.

Upon arrival, valet comes and takes the car. Free valet, nice! Although it's a little bit hassling... I don't like having to constantly give them my card and have them fetch my car every single time, but it's free so I guess it's okay.

This place has a very fresh, modern feel to it. I actually like the lay out of this hotel. The room is nice and cozy. First thing I noticed was the shower. There is no door or curtain. just some glass and heavy exposure of nudity. Not to mention the bathroom door is a sliding door and also glass. I couldn't help but feel a little awkward and insecure.

I got a pretty bad itch/rash from the bed sheets. Maybe an allergic reaction to the bleach they use? I don't know, but it did not sit well for me at well.

It's a pretty nice hotel don't get me wrong, but I had a not so nice experience.

Not too shabby for being next to the freeway!  I read the other reviews and specifically asked for a quiet room.  I got it.   It was not facing the freeway.  Staff were helpful, and courteous, and I liked the room.  Clean and comfy.  The only thing I missed was more closet space...not much room to hang clothes.   If you're on vacation, not a huge deal.  If you're on business...it's important to be able to hang work clothing up.

Hotel Angeleno is conveniently located between the beaches of Santa Monica & the hills of Hollywood.

The cool modern lobby is fragrant with their signature scent that is pumped throughout the lobby level.

Great value for the price! Their valet service is quick & complimentary. Wine & appetizers each night are complimentary too.

Super close proximity to UCLA & the Getty Museum.

It's right off the 404 offering quick access to different parts of LA. My room was on the 9th floor and wasn't affected by any traffic noise.

Well the old Holiday Inn--a WLA landmark since I was old enough to notice buildings some 38 years ago--sure got a makeover!

My cousin and her family stayed here, finding a deal on one of the online sites for 135 a night plus tax. I asked the concierge about the rate booked at the last minute for tonight and it was 230 and change.

But what a GREAT place to stay!

1) Perfect and central location. UCLA and Brentwood are minutes away. If you want to go down to the Promenade or Main Street or Abbot Kinney, you're well-positioned to do so either on the 405 South or surface streets. If you want to go to Beverly Hills, you're very close and if you want to go further inland to Hollywood or West Hollywood (or South to Century City to the mall featured in Crazy Stupid Love, which my cousin remembered once I mentioned Ryan Goslin's abs, a tribute to which now exists in the form of a Facebook page!), that's easy too.

I have not slept in a room and don't know how the insulation is but I imagine built when it was, this hotel has decent construction values and I was very impressed with lobby (see below).

2) Penthouse restaurant with phenomenal views and, as I saw pulling out of valet parking, a happy hour, along with a little cafe off the lobby which serves coffee and sells wine by the half-bottle and bottle, as well as cute little margaritas and mixed drinks in a bottle kept in the fridge.

3) Prices!

4) Friendly staff.

5) Modest pool with some chaises which is hardly the Mondrian infinity pool but perfectly adequate for a dip.

6) Gorgeous lobby.

For the PRICE, this is a 5 star but this is not a 5 star hotel. It's a solid 4 star.

This was my second time here. I like the room. Clean. Comfortable bed.
My first visit last month was fine except that the staff didn't make my bed or replace my towels. Upon inquiry the hotel said they were sorry but couldn't do anything that evening because the maids leave at 5pm.
During my recent visit this month, I called for room service multiple times but the operator would put me on hold. So I had to order delivery from a restaurant nearby.

So nice clean hotel but poor service.

I really enjoyed staying at this hotel! Here's the basics of what you need to know. (:

Lowdown:
-right next to a freeway entrance/exit (convenient for the most part)
-the higher the floor, the quieter things are
-look for deals, you will most likely find a deal for this hotel!
-free valet
-complimentary wifi (pretty good speed, at least during our stay)

Pros:
-we stayed on the 12th floor w. balcony, we had a view of the getty and it was super quiet
-rooms were REALLY clean.
-king size mattress...woooo!!!
-furniture and layout of the room was classy, modern, and organized
-bathroom was a nice size and had a luxurious feel
-all the receptionists we encountered were super friendly and willing to help

Cons:
-my boyfriend had an allergic reaction to the sheets (my skin is pretty sensitive too, but i didn't get any reaction)
-sometimes traffic really messes things up upon exiting and entering their lot

I really enjoyed this one. It wasn't super luxurious, but for the price we paid...it was definitely worth it.

Happy Hour. A full 60 minutes without a moment of sadness. A great concept, and perhaps we should start electing happy days to act in the same manner.

Oh wait, that would be Saturday (or whatever day you have off of work to do whatever you want).

Happy hour at Hotel Angeleno's West Restaurant lasts 180 minutes during the week--4pm-7pm. Great drinks, great food, and great views looking South from the top of the building. My one complaint? The couple times I've been in there's only been a single server for the entire lounge area, and she's been hard-pressed to keep up with our rapid-drink-guzzling/refill-needing rate of alcohol imbibement. The staff is always super friendly, just been a little slow to get our happy hour accoutrements to us.

This is fortunate, because looking North would be a mountain and The Getty. Which wouldn't be too bad, but... yeah, South is the good view.

Especially gratifying is watching traffic and thinking to yourself, "I'm not sitting in that. I'm sitting in a comfy chair enjoying a cocktail and munching on sliders/hummus+pita/sopas/etc." There's nothing that has me appreciate my bicycle and bus-pass more than looking at the snail's pace of traffic heading down Sunset, or up the 405. Well, maybe appreciating it with a drink in my hand while eating... you get the point.

Also, if you're looking for an ATM or a cup of coffee and a snack, there's a little hotel shop downstairs just off the lobby. Across from it is the business room which has an ATM. I've stopped in to grab bus fare for the Big Blue Bus (stops just outside the hotel or across the street), as well as a cup of joe. Consistently, the person working behind the counter is awesome.

I haven't stayed here, but if the rest of the hotel is anything like the shop or the West Restaurant, I'm willing to bet it's a pleasant stay.

Outstanding service from the min we parked.  Free valet, check in was easy and we were upgraded because it was our anniversary.  It was free wine hour when we arrived so we each enjoyed two glasses of wine and they gave us a refill to take up to the room.  Dinner at the restaurant was amazing.   Fabulous city views. The flavors were exceptional.  Pastry chef brought out our fancy desert and explained it to us.  What put the stay over the top was the complementary champagne and chocolate strawberries we found in the room when we got back from dinner. Bed was great.  Room was clean. The freeway noise was loud but didn't bother my husband.   Yes id go back.

I've stayed here about four or five times and I've enjoyed it. But last night has me rethinking this ever again. The location of the hotel is by the 405 freeway, one of the busiest in the US. Freeway noise doesn't bother me. However freeway construction noise does. From about 9pm to 4am it was horrible. I got no sleep and because I booked through Hotels.com (for the first time at this hotel) I automatically got the crappiest room they could put me in. The night auditor said they weren't fully booked when I called at 3:30 am. But the day manager said they were and hey had no choice. Actually they did have a choice and that was not to fill that room. I was so close to the construction I could make out the facial expressions of the construction crew!  They could only apologize and promise to put me in a better room next time only if I call the manager. Really....that's the best they could do? They said that they have no idea when CalTrans will be working all night but a quick look at the Caltrans website will tell you construction schedules. This approach lacks basic considerations for the primary services a hotel provides and that's a place to sleep. It's unfortunate the hotel is situated next to a major construction site. I get that they need to make money. Give me fair warning about the noise. Offer me some ear plugs to help with the noise. But don't pretend not to know about major freeway construction happening 50 feet from my room! Kind of promising me a quieter room  next time isn't compensation enough for not sleeping last night.

Don't stay here ever. They seem to lack basic common sense why customers shouldn't be placed in a room directly above major freeway construction. If they did, that room would have remained empty.

These are hotels that offer only the highest level of accommodations and services. The properties offer a high degree of personal service. Although most five star hotels are large properties, sometimes the small independent (non-chain) property offers an elegant intimacy that can not be achieved in the larger setting. The hotel locations can vary from the very exclusive locations of a suburban area, to the heart of downtown. The hotel lobbies are sumptuous, the rooms complete with stylish furnishing and quality linens. The amenities often include: VCR′s, CD stereos, garden tubs or Jacuzzis, in-room video library, heated pools and more. The hotels feature up to three restaurants all with exquisite menus. Room service is usually available 24 hours a day. Fitness Centers and valet and/or garage parking are typically available. A concierge is also available to assist you.

Fastest check-in at any hotel I've ever stayed at (and I used to work in the hospitality sector).
Front desk staff greeted us every time we came back from our travels, ditto for the friendly valet staff.
Room was updated and very comfortable (bed was amazing)
Stayed on the 6th floor looking at the Getty Museum....traffic noise was minimal considering the hotel is next to the 405 (a major freeway)
Complimentary wine in the lobby every evening is a nice touch.
All in all, I enjoyed my stay and would recommend the hotel.

Stayed here during a work trip and liked the hotel, the lobby is nice and clean they have free wine every evening.  The fire place outside was on and it was nice to sit outside and talk and enjoy the evening before heading out.  The valet parking was nice and free if you stay at the hotel.  If you decide not to get house keeping for the day you are there you get a $5 gift card to use at the restaurant on the 17th floor.  However I would not suggest the restaurant if you are in a hurry as I had a horrible experience waiting for my food and finally had to leave and go try and eat something somewhere else before my meeting.  The location of the hotel is perfect and I would recommend it to anyone that is on a business trip and working near UCLA and Beverlly hills (if you have a car)  Overall it wasn't a bad place and would stay again if I needed to.

stayed here for a one-night getaway and while there are definitely some great things about this hotel, overall it was just A-OK.

first the major pluses:
1) free valet parking for guests! its rare to find a hotel that offers free parking so getting free valet is even better! the valet attendants were quick and friendly. didnt have to wait more than just a couple minutes for my car even on a busy saturday night.
2) free wine hour from 5:30-6:30pm! served in the hotel lobby, guests can get an option of either red or white and they'll even serve you "to-go" plastic cups so you can drink your room.
3) free wi-fi! another perk that isnt standard in most hotels so was grateful for this ammenity.
4) great location on the westside! you cant beat the freeway access with the entrance/exit right next to the hotel. quick drive to The Getty or UCLA or my personal fave the Little Osaka area of LA.

why 3 stars then? well the hotel seems like its recently renovated but i still get the feel that its just like a revamped motel vibe. also the hotel does its best to drown out the freeway & street noise, but still cant rid of it all. and also not the hotel's fault but with all the construction going on in the 405 area, some street closures caused us to make some slight detours when getting to/from the hotel. and traffic on the 405 is a nightmare in this area so just plan your time accordingly.

Totally functional WiFi, also no extra charge.
Valet parking, Definitely an extra charge.
Wedged myself into already small bathroom. Barely.
Views of the 405 or The Getty. Charge included in rate.

Everyone needs to stay at this hotel!  I think they're the nicest hotel chain in LA only because they offer you SO much for free!

Free valet for guests, WOW.  Awesome pool with a great view, WOW. Great views, WOW (we asked for a quiet view and they gave it to us).  We even got free drink tickets because we are Expedia VIP members and also because the girl that checked us in, I think her name started with an "M" she was Asian, anyway she was SO sweet.  The entire staff there are sweet, you CAN'T GO WRONG!

Also how sweet is it that they made our bed and left cookies for us...SO AWESOME!  We didn't get a chance to go to the top of the hotel to see the views but it was still amazing where we were!

Can't wait to stay there on our next trip and so looking forward to the awesomeness of the staff!

Oh did I mention they are located on the 405 and 2 exits away from the 101? SO CONVENIENT!!!!!

Stayed here a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed our stay. I always thought this was a condo building when looking at it while sitting on freeway traffic, I never knew it was a hotel. The inside is modern, chic, nothing like the outside. My cousin had a benefit here and booked a room for my siblings and I.  The staff was very accommodating and super super nice!  We got to our rooms and they were a bit tiny but I didn't mind because those beds were so comfortable!  There is free wii-fi and tv but there is only a few selections to watch.  The benefit was held upstairs on the 17th floor in the west lounge restaurant. They blocked off an entire section plus another room for the event where a black jack table/craps table and a photo booth was held.  The staff here were super nice and also so accommodating to the party.  You guys did a fantastic job!  The event was a success and it was so great to have a couple of drinks and go downstairs to the room and KNOCK OUT!  The next morning, we got breakfast on the 17th floor (WEST LOUNGE) as well.  It was kind of pricey but we were starving!

Omelet ($12)- choose from ham, mushroom, tomato, onions, spinach, and cheddar.  This was GINORMOUS!  If you are really hungry, get this!  It was good but the red potatoes weren't tasty.  It was kind of hard and dried.

Benedit ($12)- eggs, grilled ham, hollandaise, muffin, red potatoes($12)- The eggs were so runny i loved cutting into it!  Needed some pepper so add some if you order!

OJ($4)-the most bitterest OJ ever!! AVOID!

The view is amazing in the morning and at night :)  Just like the LA night life!  Check out was a breeze. Went downstairs to get those carts to put all our crap on it and the nice gentleman that works there offered to help:)  Overall, this was an okay place to stay.

NOTES
-small pool area
-limited tv channels
-free wii-fe
-free valet
-next to 405 freeway

We stayed there for 4 nights. The best and worst thing about this hotel is the location. The hotel is probably the best priced in its grade you can find in West LA. The location is very convenient, located right on 405 Sunset exit, and it's very easy to access everything around. (You would need a car, of course! As in LA, nothing is in walking distance.) That being said, the right of freeway location made it the most noisy hotel we have ever stayed. The freeway noise did not bother my sleep, but it could be annoying especially for those looking for a peaceful vacation and a quiet night sleep.

The hotel offers only valet parking, with no option of self parking. So it takes time to get on the car especially if you just want to drop stuff off in and out quickly. Basically you have less control of your time.

The staffs are nice and the gym is clean. The cardio machines are of newer models.

The bed is comfy but the blanket is super thin and make it so cold at night. For the whole 4 day stay, we received only 1 soap bar and 1 set of hotel vanity pack with no replacement or replenishment. All other hotels I have stayed always replaced toiletries even though I was there for only 2 nights.

I won't be going back to this hotel again. Although the location is convenient, for the same price, I might as well go to nicer hotels around airport, which is not too far from this location.

I've always been curious about this place, and I finally was able to put the mystery of this building to rest on the 4th of July (about a month ago)!  For those who don't know (because I didn't either!), this hotel is the cylindrical building right next to the 405, as you enter / exit the valley, and is located very close to the Getty museum.  I've passed by this place many a time and have always been curious about what it was - an apartment complex?  a commercial building?  I didn't realize it was a hotel until we booked our reservations.   And we got a completely reasonable rate too (I guess since we booked sort of last minute for the 4th of July!)  It's a very convenient place to stay if you have a car, since it's right next to the entrance to the 405 freeway, which gets you around to quite a few places in LA.

We stayed here for only one night, but we really enjoyed it.  The service was excellent, there was a complimentary wine happy hour, and the views of LA from our room were fantastic - we overlooked the 405 freeway and the urban sprawl that is my hometown!

The hotel was clean and nice.  It was a very comfortable stay.  Thankfully, our room was high up enough that the freeway wasn't too annoying, but I can see how guests on the lower levels would be bothered by the incessant rush of cars on the 405.  But I have no such complaints about our stay, and it was a nice home base for the 4th of July!

Oh, and just a tip - Check out the restaurant at the top floor to see even more amazing sights of LA!

Stayed here because the price was reasonable compared to other hotels in the neighborhood. Was a little hesitant upon arriving and viewing the exterior but the interior of the hotel is very new and well decorated. I really ended up liking the hotel. Unlike other hotels, Hotel Angeleno had free valet, wifi, wine nights, and the room service price was very reasonable and delicious. The winning touch was the view and the private balconies. We ended up visiting the Getty because of the proximity and loved it. Would recommend :)

If u want to sleep, don't turn on the air conditioner, it's louder than a Metallica concert in the 80's (so I hear)

If you want to call the front desk make sure to bring your mobile because the room phone won't work

If you want to sight see in LA and get back to the hotel, plan on chartering a helicopter because when all of the surrounding roads were barricaded, they gave us NO warning or notice about it whatsoever!

I had a wonderful experience during my two night stay at this hotel. Hotel Angeleno has free valet and WiFi, as well as complimentary wine during their happy hour, which I very much enjoyed. Although I did not use the pool during my stay (mornings were too chilly), the pool area was always clean and well maintained, and the outdoor fireplace was a nice surprise! I also enjoyed breakfast at West Restaurant, which has stunning city and ocean views.

What I most enjoyed from my stay was the service. When I notified the staff that we were celebrating a special event during our stay, they sent us a very romantic welcome gift. The staff was very thoughtful and considerate, and I will make sure to stay here during my next visit. This is truly an exceptional hotel!

I rolled up in my brother's 20 yr old Ford Ranger and sort of expected to get treated like a hillbilly because every other car in the valet queue was either a BMW or Lexus.  To my pleasant surprise I was treated quite well.

Score one for the non-snotty staff.  Same for Elijah at the front desk who was very helpful to this bedraggled person checking in after midnight.

The place is well appointed and clean.  My bed was comfy womfy. I did get a shock when I opened the balcony door and was hit by a wall of highway noise.  The door dampers it for the most part and the noise didn't keep me up at night.

They seem to really care about making your stay a good experience so a star just for that.

Other good stuff:
- Good price for the area and "boutique hotel" feel.
- Room service prices very reasonable compared to most places (eggs benedict for $12 versus most places it's 20+)
- Wine happy hour daily (I didn't get a chance to, but I like the idea ;).

To note if you book:
- Get a room on a high floor on the west side for less noise from the freeway.
- Wifi is free but is low band-width so forget streaming a movie or even going on Facebook, otherwise pay $9 for high speed.
- Arrange for a shuttle ahead of time, they don't run all the time.
- Call down for your car so you don't wait when you get down stairs during rush hour.

You know you're in for a bad stay when you go back down to the front desk to ask if you'll hear the construction noise overnight, and the front desk clerk asks your room number, you tell him and he goes "uhm..., you should turn on the a/c tonight".

A/C, by the way, is extremely loud but kept cycling off and on, keeping us up most of the night (when it turned off, highway noise!).

Rooms are nice and clean, toiletries are ok.  Valet parking is required, but free.

I've stayed here twice, and both times had problems with the noise in the room.  There are so many nicer & quieter places to stay!

It's already taken me more than 30 minutes to drive 1/16th of a mile and all because they can't properly staff their parking.  I'm literally turning into their driveway and expect another 15 mins at least.

If you're thinking of holding an event here I'd highly recommend choosing elsewhere, as your guests will be upset and/or angry when they arrive.

This hotel is horrible! The staff is extremely rude and not helpful at all. My boyfriend went to check us in and the person at the front desk ignored him and then after a few minutes looked up at him like he was bothered that there was a customer. Mind you it was completely dead inside the hotel
so he couldn't have been that busy. There were two different guys at the front desk that my boyfriend spoke to and they were both rude and had attitudes. Obviously they hate there job , this place needs to find different people to put at the front desk. On top of all that they over charged us $150 , that's a pretty big mistake .. Very careless on there part. When we first checked in they were saying we hadn't paid for the room yet
even though it was already payed for . We literally had to look up the email on my boyfriends phone where it showed it was payed for because the person at the front desk was insisting that my boyfriend hadn't paid yet. So it was very ironic that after all that they still ended up over charging us. This place is a joke! Don't stay here.. It's awful!

My friend  booked this hotel through a deal. We stayed here two nights that were not in a row, so we got to stay in two different rooms. It was not incredibly cheap, but it was the least expensive option amongst a sea of exorbitantly priced hotels. Included in the deal were wifi and parking, which was valet. This made it a really good deal as it was not included in other hotels. There was nothing bad about this hotel. The location was perfect- right near the Getty center and a reasonable distance from everything else I had wanted to see. The hotel is round and easily recognizable from the road and also from other places in the city. The rooms have a strange shape- kind of like a slice of pie, just because of the fact that the hotel is round. The views from the hotel in the rooms where we stayed were of the parking lot and the highway- so nothing special to look at. The pool area was really nice (pool was not very warm) and the whole hotel had a nice aesthetic. The guy who helped us with our bags told us about a free wine happy hour- but we did not get to do that.
I was very comfortable there. The bed was comfy and the water pressure in the shower was good. There was a fridge in the room. They had a little snack bar window by the pool. I would not have minded staying there longer. The staff was friendly and nice. I would recommend staying here. It's not the four seasons, but very nice for this level of hotel. I was impressed.

Upon entering we were greeted right away by the friendly front desk staff and were checked in speedily. We had to print something out and asked about a business center, however they suggested we emailed them the attachment instead and they would print it out for free. How cool is that? It was so convenient and something that most hotels probably wouldn't care to do.

The lobby of the hotel is nice and modern. It smells REALLY good in there too. In the seating area to the left of the front desk, there was a lady serving free red wine and chardonnay! Say whaaaat. Can't really top free alcohol upon check in. They served it in wine glasses, but gave it to us in clear plastic cups instead because we wanted to bring it to our room.

Our room had a view street traffic and buildings just outside the hotel. I don't mind for views that much, so this isn't as important to me. The room was nicely decorated and made most of the space that it had. The room was able to accommodate lots of people which was great. The room service menu looked so good and not too highly priced. I didn't get to try it but I would like to if I ever get the opportunity to stay here again.

The BEST PART about this hotel is that valet parking (mandatory, no self parking) is FREE if you are a hotel guest! Most LA hotels charge outrageous prices like $30 a night or something but this place does it for free. The valet guys are super nice too and are very quick in bringing out the cars.

Overall, very impressed with this hotel. I would recommend this place and would love to go back!

It's located in a very convenient place to sight see easily around the area; within a half mile to the Getty Center and UCLA. It's not the Capitol Records Building. It's the Hotel Angeleno.

Seriously, though. How many of us, when we were new to Los Angeles, drove down the 405 towards Sunset, saw the cynlidrical white building, and thought for a second that we were in Hollywood?

I recently had a staycation here and was surprised at how inexpensive it was, given the great location. Maybe prices are low due the potential inconvenience of nearby construction, but we couldn't hear it at night and were still able to access the hotel easily.

The rooms are a bit small due to the shape of the building, but they're comfy and nicer than a Marriott-owned hotel or other price equivalents. The bathrooms were decorated nicely and the soaps and shampoos were good-quality. HD television and free WiFi are expected but enjoyable amenities.

The concierge is very helpful, and the valet attendants were the kindest I've ever come across. Free valet is always a big plus, especially in Los Angeles where hotel parking is often $20/day. The food in the restaurant (WEST, at the top of the hotel) is quite good, and the order-the-night-before room-service breakfast is one of the best I've had. Lemon curd pancakes for the win!

I'd be happy to stay another night here, especially since I hear it puts deals on Hotels.com and the like.

Stayed here two nights.  THE BED IS FIRST CLASS!  Valet parking was free and the service was fine.  I would stay here again.

The staff is nice and the check in process was good. I was placed in an 8th floor room facing the 405 freeway. The 405 noise wasn't bothersome at all but the air conditioner was a bit wonky. The bathroom is very clean and the mini bottle products were good. Because the hotel is this circular shape, your room is shaped like the slice of a pie which means your room will be small and the "closet" is not inset into the wall.

Also I was placed in a room that has the interior door so you can walk in between two hotel rooms. What made that weird was there were occupants in the other room so I could hear them and I'm pretty sure they could hear me too. It didn't seem like the hotel was packed so I thought this was an odd spot to put another person.

The room itself outside of the bathroom needs some updating. There were dents and dust on the wall and the furniture looked worn down. As a business traveler, one of the biggest things that drives me crazy is not having outlets near the bed which this place does not.

Room service is good and the food is very reasonably priced. I had to ask for my receipt and was delivered later on, wouldn't it just be easier to have a second copy when I sign the first receipt?

I've got to say the WiFi is awesome and I was able to log on to my remote server without much interruption. I don't know if it was because I was working at 3am and no one else was on the WiFi but this is probably the best hotel WiFi I've ever used and it was free!

My fiancé surprised me a night stay at Hotel Angeleno. From check in to check out, this hotel was the WORST I have ever been.

Front desk staffs don't know what they are doing. They had 2 rooms reserved under his name when he got only one room confirmation.

When we got to our room, the room smelled cheap perfume. It started to give me nauseous and headache. Immediately we turned on the air conditioner and it was LOUD. The machine was outdated.

At night, we couldn't sleep. Right below us, 405 freeway constructions was in process. Trucks were coming in and going out. Breaking metals and concrete noise were all night long until 5AM.

Front desk person was extremely rude when I checked out.

After several weeks later, we get credit card charge for extra $5. My fiancé wanted to ignore it, but I wanted to know the reason behind it. I called and I was told that it was for water charge. We did not even drink water and they are charging us?

This hotel is total FAIL. DO NOT STAY in this hotel!!! Rude customer service, awful rooms and overcharge.

I liked lots about the Angeleno:

1.  Great price (for LA).
2.  Stylish lobby and rooms.
3.  Free valet parking + wifi.
4.  Super nice staff.
5.  Every room has a balcony and you can indeed see the ocean.
6.  Nice gym and pool.

And a few things I cared less for.

1.  Lots of freeway noise.  Ask for a room as high as they'll give you on the west side of the hotel.
2.  The cooler/heater was one of those kinds that looks like a radiator on the outside wall.  No thermostat.  Only on or off.  Hot or cold.  High or low.  Those are the options.  Quiet running is not one of the options.  It was noisier than the freeway.
3. The carpet in the room had apparently experienced some crises since it was installed.

Bottom line:  If you're looking for an relatively inexpensive hotel on the west side of LA, this is it.  If you're looking for a good night's sleep, this is not it.

I stayed at the Hotel Angeleno for a couple of days while on a work trip. I had a king room which I was pleased with. The rooms were very clean and had a lot of space. Rooms were cleaned well daily by staff. The service was attentive and I was happy with it. The room service was okay - cheese pizza was not the best but the eggs benedict was great! I would stay at the Hotel Angeleno again. It's right off the highway too, so convenient. There's also a fantastic bar on the top level with a beautiful view. Bartender was excellent!

On the surface, this seems like it will be a nice, independent hotel. But after spending several days there twice in the past two months, I can think of nothing that would cause me to come back.

The service in nearly every area was so terrible that they could have provided me with a luxury suite, and it still wouldn't have been worth it to stay there. I have never been treated so rudely and ignored so often in an hotel that purports to want my business.

The restaurant--West--is the worst offender. I was in the unfortunate position of not being able to rent a car while I was on my trip, so I was forced to eat my meals at the hotel. Every time I arrived, the place was nearly empty. I would ask for a table--for one, for six, for 10--it didn't matter. They never had one ready and always had me wait in the lounge for 10 minutes. Why? There was no one else in there! Once seated, the service is glacial. Expect lunch to take an hour and a half. Expect every person's order to show up separately and randomly. Expect to ask several times for things like a steak knife or water.

The lounge--in the same location--is also terrible. The drinks are wrong or made terribly. The servers don't have any idea what they're serving and ask you to identify your own drinks. It takes 15 to 20 minutes for the first round to arrive. I suppose this is a place to go if you're worried about drinking too much. You might not get more than one drink before last call, no matter when you go.

Even worse, the management doesn't care. We politely reported these issues, and there were no apologies, only excuses and annoyance that we complained in the first place. It was as though it was inconvenient to have to deal with customers in a place that is designed to do so.

The front desk staff is pleasant enough, but totally disorganized. I asked them to call a cab since none were likely to come on their own in such an isolated spot. They did and said it would take 5 to 15 minutes. I needed to print something at the business center a few feet away, so I asked them to find me if the cab came.

After a while without hearing anything, I came out to find a cab driver angrily waiting in the lobby. I looked at the staff to see why they didn't tell me, and I realized that in the 5 minutes I was in the business center, the whole desk staff had changed. No one had any idea that a cab had been called.

I wish I could say that these were just bad days, but the incidents piled up over the course of two stays. I can't recommend this hotel at all.

Hotel has an amazing view and has a very convenient location for people like us who does travel a lot. They are minuets away from the Airport. Staff is helpful and attentive, Valet is complimentary. However, the negative points goes to the Restaurant management staff. Insincere, Incompetent, Indifferent, and most of all Rude. The employee with the glasses, wearing a suit and tie is just very egocentric. We would recommend the hotel with the restaurant as an exception. We would rather dine in at next door Luxe.

I came here for an LAULYP mixer event. The view I must say is amazing especially at  night with all the lights. The lounge had a great ambiance as well.

On this night happy hour was until 9 but its usually from 4-7pm. I ordered the lemon drop martini, which I enjoyed. Later on in the night I wanted to order more drinks and food however, the wait staff disappeared. I wasn't too happy about that. The bar is not that large so, I managed to squeeze my way in and order more drinks and some food.

The sliders and the goat cheese croquettes were delicious and reasonably priced at $5 each. Since I liked the lemon drop so much I had another one.

If, its busy be prepared that the wait staff may not be on top of things. All in all if I felt like fighting traffic again I'd come back here.

I grew up in LA and when I visited my sis booked us a room at the Angeleno. It's so cute! Has a very small, boutique feel though it's pretty big, 17 floors I think. Nice wine happy hour and the restaurant had GREAT views of the 405 which was amusing -- to sip our drinks as people bumper-to-bumper it to the SFV. The room was smallish, but not tiny compared to SF or NYC. Clean, comfy, updated, WiFi worked great (not always the case in hotels for some reason). I found the bed very comfy, firm, but with a featherbed. I don't know what the haters are going on about, sis and I had a very nice stay, nice rooms, friendly staff, helpful valets. Extra car valet fee is $25. So, no hate here. I recommend!

I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights on work trip to UCLA and overall it was a good experience.  I just wanted to write a quick review to give travelers some tips:
- Staff is very nice
- My room was small but I'm travelling alone so no big deal
- This hotel is on the other side of the 405 so it's not walking distance to anything.  Thankfully L.A. has embraced Uber and Lyft so it's about $6 to Westwood.

Overall I enjoyed my stay would stay again.

I love this hotel! The staff (Particularly Michael) is phenomenal! I accidentally booked the room for one night when I needed it for two, and even during a completely booked weekend with a wedding and a reunion going on, Michael went out of his way to make room for us for another night. The pool is nice, the valet is free, it's super close to UCLA, AND there's even a happy hour- what's not to love?!

This place was very disappointing. The location is great. The rooms are cute, but very very small. But what gives them 1 star is their service. From the check in, to the restaurant to the concierge, and everything in between - the customer service is bad. I wont bore you with the details, but I had my wedding up the street at MountainGate and used the Angeleno as my venue, and I would not recommend them.

Noise is really really really bad. Traffic, hallways, you name it.

Rooms were decent. Valets were very polite. Staff was very polite. They seem to put effort into making a good name for themselves. But you can totally hear the 405 all night long. That was hard because we were staying over for an early morning surgery at UCLA.

I had a bad experience here and was asked to contact the Manager to see if there was anything they could do. I have called and emailed and have not been able to connect with the Manager.

Here's a run down of what happened.

In October, I booked a room at Hotel Angelo - $226. The room I got was in rough shape on the 8th floor right by the freeway, looked like door had been kicked in. The room wasn't very clean. There was gooey stuff on the walls and the curtains were torn/shredded. Just before falling asleep, I remembered to check the balcony. The lock was broken. As a single lady, I was concerned about safety at this point, so I called the front desk (at this point it is about 11PM). They said there was nothing they could do because the Engineer was no longer available. I asked to switch rooms. They transferred me to a room on a lower floor that was quieter and cleaner. I was told the Manager would contact me in the morning.

The next morning I explained the situation to the front desk and they said they would leave my bill open and a message for the Manager.

Eventually I had to call the hotel to see if the Manager was getting my messages. I have not been able to get through.

I will not be staying at this hotel again, nor will I be recommending it. The room was bad and the customer service poor, and the price was not right.

Nothing positive to say about this place. Worst place I've ever stayed. It all went down hill from check in.

First, I approach the front desk and I'm met with a rude staff member who was bothered by my trying to check it. Sorry I interrupted your alone time. He then tried to charge me for the night that was already paid through Expedia. He begins to argue that the room was not paid for. I squash that in seconds after I bring up the email confirmation on my phone. No apology, he just begins to check me in finally. He doesn't speak a word until he hands me my room keys without looking in my direction.

Then, my girlfriend and I have one drink each at the bar and later watch a movie in our room. They charge my room and card on file over $200 dollars. I called days later to complain it still wasn't credited to my account. Still no apology, made it seem like I should get over it, happens all the time.

We couldn't get in the elevator without running into some pothead reeking of weed. Felt bad for the unfortunate families who stayed here with they're little ones.

Simply put, stay away from this place. Still waiting for my $200...

My room on an executive floor and everything was clean, comfortable, and exactly as we needed it to be. Having 2 bathrooms was a real plus even with just 2 of us on this trip! The executive floor is very much worth the extra amount paid because the continental breakfast is wonderful and the lounge is very nice. Great coffee! It's very easy to get in and out of the hotel but the turns inside the parking garage are VERY tight so you have to be really careful maneuvering around inside it. Desk staff were great and while we were there less than 12 hours, everything was fantastic. I would definitely stay here again, and am considering it for a family trip in the spring.

***BEWARE OF FRAUDULENT CHARGES!!!***

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for valentines day weekend. The day of check-out we got a bill slipped under our room door for a restaurant charge of $214! First of all we NEVER ate dinner there! we were at the Viceroy Hotel having dinner at Cast! So immediately we went to the front desk and asked them what that charge meant and that we never ate there. So then the girl says oh ok dont worry we'll "handle" it. So we go back upstairs, pack and get ready to check-out. Then my boyfriend checks his account and sees that they ALREADY charged him! So upon checking-out i made it clear to the lady at the front desk that we will not be charged for this. Then she says "Oh we just charged that to make sure there were sufficient funds on the card. Dont worry we will cancel the pending charge" and in my head i was like wait wouldnt it be a "Hotel Charge" and not a "Restaurant Charge"?! so i just let it go and made it clear to her that we should not get charge for this.

Then today my boyfriend checks his account and the pending charge went through! AND they charged him an additional $164! I call them immediately and i explain to them my situation and i kept being put on hold and all they kept telling me was that ALL the "MANAGERS" are in a meeting. Well heck, i didnt know a meeting could take 5hrs from the time i first called and the last time i called. Also, i could tell that they put me on speaker and while i was ranting i hear laughing in the background. UNPROFESSIONAL! How would YOU feel if you got an OVER DRAFT because of charges you shouldnt have even been charged for in the first place?! PISSED!!!!

So we call the bank to dispute the charges and said they will handle it from there. Then FINALLY i get a call from someone from the restaurant, not the manager, and said that they cannot dispute it. And then i said well the bank said they were going to dispute it and then shes says well actually THATS WHY im calling because the bank called us. Well well well so youre telling me the only reason why i finally got a call back after leaving messages on answering machines is because THE BANK called you?! Then i tell her to email me a copy of the receipt and when she did ITS NOT HIS HANDWRITING, SIGNATURE, and NUMBERS! We think it was a hotel employee who went to this "dinner" we were so-called at because there was something specific on the receipt where ONLY a hotel employee could have access too/seen.

After she emails me the receipt from West Restaurant, the time stamp on it said 10:00pm, i sent her a picture of OUR receipt from Cast Restaurant and the time stamp on that said 9:59pm! Well i didnt know we could teleport honey! Now i was said that i should get a call from a manager tomorrow morning to talk about this situation. With my luck since i am NOT the only person who has had this problem with this hotel, i probably wont be getting one. Ill update once we get this solved!

We had our post-wedding brunch for our out of town guests at this location last November 2014 on a Sunday.

We were seated at the Canyon Room (I believe) on the top floor with a wonderful view of West L.A. and overlooking the 405 Freeway.

They did a really great job! It was an all you can eat buffet for about $35 per person, the service was A+.  Also, we had some last minute people that had not RSVPd show up and the staff was able to accommodate right away.

We never felt rushed, we took our time to enjoy the company that had come from far away for our wedding.

I would highly recommend it for future events!

This hotel is a good price for the LA area and super close to the Getty. They have a free wine hour from 5:30-6:30. Great view of LA from the porch. Dinner room service was good. Breakfast coffee was strong. No charge for parking, which is a huge deal. Free valet parking.

That's all the nice things I have to say. You could choose to stop reading right here, if you want to live in blissful ignorance. First problem, pube in the shower. 2nd problem, how old is this shower? There's obsolete parts left over from the shower before it. And the sink design is literally the worst I've ever seen. If I were an Olympic long distance spitter, I might not have to look at my toothpaste the morning after I brushed my teeth. Bathroom aside, the foldout couch is a primitive torture device. The chicken bites from room service were undercooked, and if you've never tasted undercooked chicken, consider yourself lucky. Breakfast was mediocre. The best part of room service? Getting some of their calls. Their phone system was broken, so I talked to a few different hotel guests wanting food from me. I had some thin mints, but I am not about to share. One more complaint: no fan in the bathroom.

So, 50/50 good/bad. I know all around it's good for the price, but I hope they work out those problems.

This hotel is average. The best thing to say is, I stayed here when it was a Holiday Inn, and it's pretty much the same.

On that note, when it was a Holiday Inn, I was perfectly capable of parking my own car. To rebuff the other reviews, though, we were picked up and dropped off by Lyft without incident.

The best thing going for this hotel is it's location if you're headed to Ucla, Getty Center, or Brentwood during your stay.

When in LA , a great find compared to the other hotels of Brentwood.a completely modern room ,very clean attentive service (ask for Michael ) at the front desk. The location is one of the best in the area, so close to the Getty Museum,UCLA Westwood and Brentwood.

I've stayed here a few times, including many years ago when it was still a Holiday Inn. Very convenient to the 405, Brentwood, the Getty Center, etc. Comfortable room, which included a small refrigerator (but no microwave). Parking is free, but is valet (pretty efficient - I don't recall waiting more than 5 minutes for my car). The hotel offers a free shuttle for local travel, which proved very handy for my visit to the Getty Center. The restaurant has very good views, decent food (especially for breakfast/brunch), and not too expensive as hotel restaurants go (breakfast is actually quite reasonable). I'd give the hotel three and a half stars. Good value for what I paid (I think it was about $160/night, including taxes, etc., via Hotwire).

I'm coming up on 5th night staying here in 2 weeks, and I have to say this is really a great hotel! The hotel is located in the Brentwood area at Sunset and the 405 freeway. It is right on the freeway, and when I was researching on Yelp before I booked, a lot of people have complained about the noise from the freeway. I had a room facing the freeway last week and I didn't have any issues with the noise, granted I was on floor 15. This week I'm on the 6th floor, and still the noise isn't bad.

It's a really, really convenient location and a great value for anyone who is looking for access to Westwood, Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Santa Monica, etc. You can pretty much get to any of those negihborhoods in under 15 minute drive. Pull out of the hotel and you're immediately on the 405, which is nice.

Aside from the location, I've really enjoyed the amenities for this place. For the price you pay, this place has a lot of value. Every night they offer a wine happy hour from 5:30-6:30p, which is such a smart move. Everyone seems to love that piece of this place, and I hope they don't stop doing it. Also, there's a restaraunt on the top floor called West, which I wrote a separate review about (wasn't a fan-- but still a nice to have at the hotel).

The pool area is small, but super nice, clean, and convenient. Likewise, the gym is small but pretty clean and nice. And the hotel isn't huge, so the pool/gym haven't been overly crowded at all since I've been here.

As for the rooms, they are really nice and clean. The only downside is the air conditioning unit, which is pretty damn loud. The showers are nice, and they offer a comfy bath robe for your stay. No microwave, but the room comes with a mini fridge. Also, there's a nice desk area and a large flat screen TV. This is definitely where I will be staying from now on when I come to LA and have work somewhere on the west side!

I've driven past this hotel for decades (ok, just 2 of them) and I was curious + excited when I found out I'd be staying there!

Location: Convenient to the 405. Good for out of towners who need to be on the Westside as it's pretty easy to find off the freeway, and a quick jump back on to go to the beach or to Santa Monica.

Rooms: Seemed clean, but were a little small in my opinion. This place used to be a Holiday Inn and I think the decor could use a little freshening up. Definitely didn't have a seedy, blacklight motel vibe - certainly a classy place. But, I feel it's worth mentioning that when I started googling the name, "hotel angeleno bed bugs" was one of the first results that popped up.

Facilities: This is what REALLY ground my gears. Valet parking took for-freaking-EVER and there was no self park option. The valet driver was really rude as well. I guess you get what you pay for, as it's free to hotel patrons, but if you're not staying it'll run you $25+tip. Air conditioning was LOUD. And their iHome alarm clock is only equipped for the iPhone 4 or earlier...don't expect your swanky smartphone to fit if you forget your charger, as I did!

I'm personally a fan of chains I can trust and can rack up points with when it comes to hotels, like the Hiltons. This hotel could be a cool option due to its location, but if I needed somewhere to stay I think I'd go for franchised.

My stay here was okay. The rooms are a bit on the smaller side but cant complain since everything is cleaned nicely. The only reason i give four stars is because every night there is construction outside and the only view is the 405 highway. It is about a one minute drive to the highway so location is great. This is a boutique hotel not a resort, remember that when booking! Located in a safe & clean area in the famous bel air.
**free valet parking
**restaurant located on top floor ( a bit pricy )
** pool and fitness center
** convenient location to main highways

Free valet is great. Free wifi is great. Reataurant is great. Staff members are great. Location is convenient for parents visiting from out of town.

Price is acceptable. Shuttle is good if available.

But the hotel itself is lousy. Elevator is slow. Rooms are Tiny...no closets! Bathrooms have sliding doors. Freeway noise is incessant. Air conditioners must be part 1970s jet turbine. The free wine in the lobby happy hour is pretty terrible, as is the set-up of that event.

I would have my folks stay somewhere else next time. The value is poor compared to, say, the DoubleTree by Culver City.

This is the 17 storey round hotel at the corner of sunset and 405 that you have probably driven past a million times.

It turns out that your hotel choices are rather slim if you are visiting UCLA and don't want to be stuck in traffic for an eternity every morning.

How does Hotel Angeleno compare to the ofher lodging choices near UCLA?
The fanciest hotel is the W, but it is expensive. The Hilgard is very close to campus, but does not have much else going for it. The Luxe is really the only other competition as far as hotels that are a 10 minute drive from the north side of campus.

As far as amenities the Hotel Angelino is better than a Marriott Courtyard but not as good as a full service Marriott..

The interior is modern. They have done a reasonable job renovating an old hotel. The rooms are an odd shape because it is a round hotel.

They have all day room service that is available till 11pm.
The restaurant is pretty good for hotel in this price range.

The parking seemed to be largely valet, but that seems to be true at many places in LA.

If you need to be close to UCLA this rates as 4 stars as it is the best moderately priced option to be had. If you are not constrained to this location it is closer to 3 stars.

I love this hotel. Everything about it is so nice. It's located right off the 405 on Sunset. I've always passed by it and never actually stayed here until recently.

The rooms are tiny, but they're cute. The bathroom is pretty spacious and the beds are super comfortable. I stayed on the 10th floor so I had a nice view of LA and sunset.

They have valet parking which is cool, although it's not free! :( $25! The people are really nice here, I don't think I've ever been to a hotel, other than probably 1, where everyone is super nice. They called me 20 minutes after checking in to check if everything in the room was okay, which was courteous of them.

The restaurant on the 17th floor is also really nice, they have a bar as well. The table area is cute and they have a nice set up. It's good to go at night, they do close around 11:30 I believe.

Stay away from this hotel! I bought the travelzoo deal and checked out 30 min after seeing the room. I called at 10 am and asked if I could get an early check in the woman's spoke to said the room would be ready by 2. Came in at 2 the 8th floor room that they had me in was still not ready so they put us in the 5th floor. If you're a clean freak and have any kind of OCD this is not the place for you. The room looks pretty big in the pictures but it's like you're in a studio apartment. Our sink was cracked and there were all sorts of stains In the room. Pretty sure there were blood stains on the lamps and wall. *crime scene* Also if you're looking for somewhere quiet to stay ... Make sure you are not facing the 405. Ended up driving to universal Sheraton. Save your money and find something else! I wish I took photos but I was trying to get the hell out of there ASAP

When arriving to the hotel the valet took my tip as he looked for dents on my car but didnt help me with my bags. I asked him for help and he said they dont have bell hops. When in my room I noticed a blood stain on my linens.  So large it is a wonder it wasn't seen. There was mold in the shower as well. In the morning I realized there wasn't coffee.  It was 3 am and I was getting ready for work.  I called front desk and he said I would have to come it as he cant leave his post.  However when I got there he wasn't there. Lastly I ate there twice out of convenience.  Both times fish was not fresh.
The hotel isn't inexpensive and though not a five star hotel they still should at least try for the basic customer service expectation.

Room service entered our room three times uninvited and unannounced.
8am...she walks in on me naked without a knock.
I put the DO NOT DISTURB sign out and place my bags in the car due to lack of trust. Go to the pool and return...to a clean room that someone entered past the sign to clean.
So I call the manager who basically shrugs it off and while on the phone,
THE MAID ENTERS OUR ROOM AGAIN!! Without knocking or saying anything and with the DO NOT DISTURB sign out.

Never again.

This place should have better reviews! I've stayed here on my last 2 visits to LA and will def. stay here again. Let's start with the FREE Valet/Parking, yes folks, FREE! Let's move on to the incredibly friendly front desk reception! Always willing the check you in early if possible. Once you've gotten to your room, they call you to make sure everything is ok. Could it be..real customer service! Oh, and the rates are very reasonable. Yes, it is located on the 405 so if freeway noise is an issue for you, prob not the place to stay. Easy location to everything.

Liked my room. Had great view. Valet and in room dining guys were incredibly nice. Front desk checking in was terrible. Guy wouldn't even make eye contact and had an attitude.

when i checked out, it was like 2:30 am on May 11th and the front desk guy was very nice. So it's 50/50 there.

Remembering that this is a 3 star hotel, I would have to say it was pretty decent in general. Great location and it was awesome that there was free valet parking. The hotel room itself is on the smaller side but that's fine since you don't really "live" in the hotel room. The bathroom is single sink, no bathroom fan and the bathtub is really tiny. The bathtub in our room wasn't draining properly so it constantly had half a tub of water standing (from our showers) and it was really slippery in there. I think if anything, the bathroom was most disappointing for me. Also, I would have to say that they could improve on cleanliness as the tub wasn't very clean and the sheets had some stains. The pool though, is nice as is the lobby. Valet was also quick to retrieve the car when we were heading out. An alright hotel in Los Angeles for a decent price.

Hotel lobby looks nice that's the only nice thing about this horrible place. A gentleman by the name of Lonny was argumentative and threatened to cancel my reservations because I was asking for an upgrade. He was very disrespectful. I'm in the service industry and I know what to say, and what not to say. This man was a joke. I will never come back strictly because of him. There was however a bell boy who was extremely nice and brought a cott (previously we were denied at check in for this by Lonny because the room was too "small" legally) to our room late into the night and ran off an got us additional pillows. He deserves to be the face of the hotel, not a smart mouth, arrogant, and very argumentative punk named Lonny.

The hotel itself isn't bad. Decent rooms with the noise of the 405 lulling you to sleep, but the staff here is horrible.

We booked a room for 3 - I would assume that should allow for a double room, but no. They gave us a king single bed room and charged us for an extra rollaway for the third person.  When I asked about this, they said it was my fault?! They would not reimburse the $25 rollaway fee.

We ordered room service and they were out of all but one item in the menu. Food took so long my husband went down stairs to pick it up at the front desk. Burger was decent though.

The valet was equally slow. 20 minutes to bring up our car with about 8-10 other guests hopping up in line.

Maybe we just hit them on a bad day, but in the hospitality business, this hotel is not on par for what they claim as a 4 star hotel.

Side note - they had very cute room keys shaped a mini vinyl records.

I stayed 2 nights here and I did not have a good experience. The rooms were not thoroughly cleaned as I found food crumbs and various small objects that was overlooked by the cleaning staff in various corners of the room.

My room was facing the freeway and it was so loud that I could hardly hear the television. If you want a room not facing the freeway and away from the loud noise there was an up charge. The photos online look much nicer than the hotel looks in person.

The pool was nice but very small and hardly accommodating for all the guests. But what I was most turned off by was the lack of cleanliness in the hotel room. I would not recommend this hotel and I will not be back.

This hotel is nothing more than a 3-Star hotel, but it is a very good 3-Star hotel.
Angeleno is an attractive choice for us when we are in Los Angeles, being in walking distance from my in-laws'. We have stayed here many times (wish they had a loyalty program!!!). The rooms are decent, clean, not huge but a good size. Their service is good. Check in process is relatively painless and if one contacts the front desk for anything, they usually show up to the door fairly quickly.
After the change in their management a few years ago, certain things have been below par (e.g. only one water bottle in the room) but I still believe the hotel is solid for a short 2-3 day stay in the area. Prices are very reasonable compare to other hotels in  the Brentwood area. I have never used the pool. Looks too good in the pictures. In reality, it is small. So is the area around the pool.
My favorite part of the stay is their in-room breakfast. They happen to make some very nice breakfast meals. Free valet, free Wi-Fi; works for me.
