This is a real find. $65 a night in downtown LA? Amazing. A nice, clean, modest little motel, just 10 units. Decent rooms, free wifi. Cared for with care and attention by Jerry and his wife, who are very nice. Highly recommended.

It's a modest sized motel, with decent and clean rooms, but best of all, it comes at a good price. The owner and his family who works there too are really friendly and will go out of their way to help you with directions or other info you need. I would definitely recommend this place!

For a motel you get a really great deal. I was in town for a business convention and didn't feel like paying $170/night at the Westin so I found this place online. It was only a 10-15 minute walk (about 1/2 mile) from my convention and there's a corner store right next door. Jerry was very friendly with check in and everything. They clean up your bed while your gone and replace towels, which I didn't expect. Each room has a big tv and is pretty cozy. I will definitely come back when I have business in LA again.

I absolutely loved everything about this motel!!!

The customer service, room, decor, size, cleanliness, amenities, and location in relation to a bus that gets you into town.

This was the most comfortable bed i've ever slept on in a hotel/motel situation. The room and everything in it, was the perfect size for 1 or 2 people.

In relation to bus's, shuttles, and not too far (15 mins by bus, car) from the Metro Rail Station, it was a fairly convenient spot, If you don't have a car, which they do have parking out front for.

It is located in a not so safe neighborhood but it seemed okay during the day.
After all the reviews i spent 2 days looking at, in the area within 15 blocks of this motel, Jerry's had the best review of them all. I was reluctant due to price, it was not too high, but for my circumstance, and short 2 day stay i was a little concerned. There were cheaper listed, but the reviews were reflecting the $. (you get what you pay for).

I had checked in very late in the day due to bus's, trains, and waiting on friends to meet me at airport. They were okay with this.
Someone is available 24 hrs there, always!

The owner and his family were so nice, they didn't have in-room coffee service or a continental breakfast, but when i asked, they offered to make me coffee, and did!

The day i was flying out, the owners wife drove me down the street to meet my friends, offering to hold my suitcase, due to check out time versus my flight. Later, the owner drove me to the train station to save me some time, meanwhile handing me a trail bar and water for my 3 train ride to the airport!

They wholeheartedly went above and beyond any hotel/motel i have ever stayed at, including, Red Lion, Holiday Inn, and Embassy Suites!

They are an adorable India(n) family with great hospitality, down to earth mom/pop friendliness and caring! And are continuously doing whatever it takes to make a persons stay the most comfortable and pleasant experience!!!!

They don't accept a AAA discount, but thats because the rates are cheaper than most places that do accept it. Totally ok with this!

Having transportation of some sort would make everything a bit more convenient and time saving. I will be renting a car next time!

There are additional, positive, personal notes to my experience here at Jerry's Motel, but i needn't post those here! I will keep them to myself to remember, and remind me next time i look for a place to stay while in L.A.!

If you stay here, you won't be disappointed, at all!!!!!
It'll be the best hotel/motel experience you'll ever have!

Thanks sooooo much Jerry, Mila and Family!!!!

As part of my relocation to Los Angeles I needed to find a new place to live. In the interim, I discovered Jerry's Motel and stayed there for a few days while I searched for housing. What a great experience! Conveniently located near downtown and most of the major freeways, I was able to use Jerry's as my home base until I secured a place of my own.

The service is outstanding, the rooms are clean, and parking is included. The area is not what some would consider ideal but I liked it and never felt like my security was at risk.

I read the great reviews for Jerry's Motel on here and saw the low price, so decided to give it a shot. I have to agree with another review I read, it's a real hidden treasure! The room is small and very old looking, but everything was very clean and had plenty of nice, new things inside. It felt more like a rented bedroom than a motel room, which I loved. Having a 32" hd tv and direct tv didn't hurt!
The owners were very friendly and accommodating. Some of the nicest people we met in LA.
The place has a lot of character, in a great downtown location, plus it's cheap. Will definitely come back there to stay anytime I come back to LA.

It's always hard to review a place like this.  I suppose it's everything it promised.  It's cheap, the staff/owners are friendly, and the rooms are very clean.  It's decidedly unfancy and not all plushy, but it's fine.  Maybe I should give it five stars, because it doesn't promise to be anything it's not, but I can't quite bring myself to do it, just because it is so basic.  Also, there are definitely fewer parking spots than rooms.  It didn't end up being a problem for us, but maybe it would be on a weekend.

Jerry's is LA's best kept secret.  An excellent location VERY close to Silverlake and Echo Park hot spots.  The room was small but ample for two.  It was impeccably clean.  The room was also the most affordable option within miles.  What more could you ask ?  There's more.  Jerry, the owner, is as nice as they come.  Friendly and personable.  Offered us water when we checked in and got us a ride for going out that night.  If everyone was as nice as Jerry and if all hotels were as cheap and clean the world would be a better place.

I booked this place after reading the good reviews on Yelp.  When we pulled up to Jerry's, I have to admit, it looked like one of those motels where the coroner is pulling overdosed junkies out of the next room.  Despite the total sketchiness and the wall of apartment buildings that surround the motel and parking lot, the room was clean and they had free wi-fi and Direct TV.  More sure I would go out of my way for Jerry's but it helped to balance out other expenses while visiting LA.

$75 a night....non-smoking rooms....free parking....in LA....talk about great value!!! We booked our reservation online and got an email confirmation shortly. Jerry was friendly and accommodating. Upon check-in, he handed us a couple of bottled water -- a welcome surprise after a long trip. The room we stayed in was dated but clean. The microwave and small fridge were a nice bonus. There wasn't adequate lighting in the shower area but it's not a deal breaker. It was not as noisy as I expected it to be. We were able to sleep well through the night. I deducted a star because they did not observe the "do not disturb" sign on the door :( I  know we didn't make the bed when we left in the morning, so I was surprised when the room was tidy when we returned in the evening. Maybe I should not be so ungrateful, but I had a bad experience in Cancun wherein i had items stolen from my hotel room, so I would have preferred it if my request for privacy be respected. Nonetheless, I am happy to report that Jerry's staff did NOT have sticky fingers :) I highly recommend Jerry's Motel to those traveling to LA in a budget.

Great budget hotel for the area but the area is horrible.  I would never take a girlfriend to this place.  Could be the worst place I have ever stayed in even though it has been upgraded in a few areas like the TV and Fridge.

I found out about Jerry's on Yelp after trying to find a place at the last minute near the downtown courthouse for a hearing. Since my boss wasn't going to foot the bill, I needed something cheap.

Overall I think that Jerry's is a pretty nice find. I really appreciated that the $75 rate is all inclusive for tax, parking, etc. No upsells. Bed to sleep in and arrived at courthouse feeling nice and refreshed after a nice shower. I would not want to spend more than a night or two here, or try and work my vacation around this place however. But overall I was very happy with my stay at Jerry's.

Great budget hotel if you have the right expectations.  The rooms are clean, the manager is more than accommodating, free WiFi, and HD Directv. My only complaint would be the noise level, if you are on the lower floor you better hope you don't have active upstairs neighbors.. You will hear every footstep and bed bounce.  I'd definitely go back but requesting an 2nd floor room would be a must.  And yes, the area is not the best but I wasn't interested in sight seeing the neighborhood so it didn't matter to me.

I was looking at various hotels near the LA Convention Center when I found many positive reviews for this place. After staying there for 4 nights, I fully understand why it deserves such reviews. Jerry's Motel is a building of about 10 rooms with a private parking lot that is open to the street. The owner asks for all your car info when you check in, since it is a small lot that is only for guests.

The room was comfortable and clean, with a large bed, air conditioner, micro fridge, walk in closet, flat screen TV, and free wireless internet - everything you need when traveling and then some.  There are some noisy neighbors, but those were usually across the parking lot. It's a short drive or bus ride away from the convention center and there's even a 25 cent DASH bus not far from the motel.

I definitely wouldn't mind staying there again, considering how great the price and room is. I recommend Jerry's Motel for travelers on a budget who want something a little nicer than a hostel or a big chain hotel. The stand up shower was kind of cool because it has a fine mist like spray that makes you feel like you're in the rain forest!

Super nice owners. They bought my wife a birthday cake from China town and brought it to the room.   I didn't like being outside of the hotel much, bad area; but in a car locked doors; you are right there!  we did walk to a great hole in the wall mexican food place;  great food; super cheap.

The hubs and I have stayed here a few times over the past year while attending evening functions in and around the downtown LA area.  I have to agree with a few other reviewers that at first glance and given the area, you may question your safety while staying at Jerry's. Let me put those fears to rest: this place is lit up like crazy (but in a crazy good way!) at night.  It gives the impression of once having been a small apartment complex at one time, but I may be mistaken. There is free (yes, you read that correct!) parking right outside your door.  The parking lot is rather tight but we just bring the smaller of our vehicles (Toyota 4-runner) when we know we are staying at Jerry's...no problem.  The check-in process is excellent...courteous and prompt. No communication problems, ever!  The room rate is a standard $78 per night, a true bargain when you consider what you are getting for that and in downtown LA no less.  After checking in you are given a goodie bag with snacks and bottled water.  The rooms are small, immaculate and although older in age, the décor, bedding and furnishings are up to date, clean and fresh-looking.  The bathroom is rather small but extremely serviceable.  New fixtures, soft towels and a window that actually opens for fresh air (bars do cover the windows however, for safety).  A large walk-in closet, AC, flat screen TV, free Wi-Fi that actually works, your car right outside your door...all in all a very pleasant home away from home.  We do not hesitate to recommend Jerry's Motel for an excellent stay...except that we don't want to spread the word too much, it will be too hard to get a reservation!

Don't be fooled by the cheap price, location & Google map images of this place - we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay!

First off, their price is $65 a night NO MATTER WHAT!!  And that's including tax!

They charge your credit card upfront at check in & you're done, that's it.   There is no cc required for reservation.  You can even pay in cash if you need to.   We were greeting with 2 bottles of water upon check in.  We even got to pick the room we wanted.    Your license plate will be noted, just keep the parking situation in check.   Parking is free, which is a nice bonus.

The room was basic, but great - clean & had everything we needed.  Microwave, hair dryer, fridge, flat screen TV, queen bed, air conditioner, bathroom (no tub) & a walk in closet.   The room we got had brand new carpet, which was really nice.

The East- Indian couple who run this place rock the heezy.  I don't think the gentleman is Jerry, though, since you don't meet many Indians with totally Anglo names.  But I digress.  He & his wife went out of their way to make sure we were happy & comfortable & were very friendly & helpful.    I knew they were keeping an eye on things & monitoring the property regularly, as they live onsite in an attached home.

This isn't the most pristine area of LA.  Let's face it, there are many shady areas in LA, and this is no exception.  It's 1.6 miles from Echo Park - yes, the Echo Park featured in that great chola gangster girl classic "Mi Vida Loca".   And only 1.1 mile from MacArthur Park, home of gang bangers & tough vatos looking for trouble.  Despite the closeness of these parks, I didn't feel in danger or scared.  I tend to like gritty, ethnic neighborhoods anyway.  Would I walk the neighborhood at night?  No.  But I wouldn't even walk around in Phoenix at night.  Nights were surprisingly quiet & uneventful.

All in all, this is a great place to rest your head & take a shower if you are in LA for any reason & still want to be able to have money for groceries when you get back home.  If you are looking for a free breakfast, newspaper, valet parking, swimming pool, lobby & other luxuries, this is not your place.  If you don't mind a gritty neighborhood and a simple, yet efficient room, then give this place a whirl.   Lots of other cheap places in the area are dirty or hooker havens, but not his place.  I promise, you won't be disappointed!

Jerry's Motel is well situated near the Downtown area, and close to the ethnic restaurants of Armenia, Vietnam, Thailand, Korea, Bangladesh, just off West 3rd Street. Free parking in front of our unit was most welcome so we could come and go as we needed to during the day. When we arrived, there was a welcome goody bag with snacks plus list of interesting places to visit nearby. The room was CLEAN, with peaceful decor, mattress was COMFORTABLE, and there was a large flat screen TV. Service was especially responsive and courteous. We will be back next year, and a friend who visited us there will be booking in the future as well.

What a lovely little gem! They have 11 rooms total I think. Its very clean, fresh smelling, clean towels. Microwave, fridge, dvd player. The bed is really comfy to sleep in. The AC works awesome! They have a cute little bathroom in the room with plenty of HOT water, clean facilities. If you need ice, just ask up front and they give you some ziploc bags full of them. Parking is safe too. Wifi works great.

Jerry and his wife are the best!! I'd definitely stay here again.

I had a good experience with Jerry's Motel. I had read multiple good reviews on the place, but was still hesitant to stay there. I'm glad I did!

The service there is great. The front desk is always friendly and attentive. They have a reasonable check out time. It's in the middle of absolutely everything you'd "want to see" in Los Angeles. Easy to find and not surrounded by immense traffic.

The rooms are well kept and similar to an extremely small apartment (basically, everything you need is in the room.)

I loved it so much that I decided to stay a second night, though I had planned to leave.

Great price, great customer service, and great rooms!
It really is LA's best kept secret.

Yes, you are nice because you actually walked me out to the street to show me where the supermarket is.
Yes, they place has a big hd tv with tons of channels.
Yes, you are at a pretty good spot and close to Korean town

No, your internet was broken and I had to go to starbucks for wifi. (okay, you subtracted $5 off = my coffee at starbucks)
No, you look kind of ghetto.

It's overall a good place to stay for 1 or 2 nights. I am not sure if staying in LA is more expensive, but I have gotten a better place than this for the same price in other cities (like vegas).

This little motel is an excellent place to stay. It may be small, but its definitely cozy. My brother, his girlfriend, and I stayed in a room with a queen bed. We were attending the AX. Since we had 3 people we did have to pay a little more, but it was worth it. I wasn't expecting them to set up a super comfy cot for our third person. That was a great surprise! They were all super helpful and nice. And the room was super clean, which is such a relief for me! The only thing that I would recommend they get fixed is the soda vending machine. It took my money, but I got it back and the guy opened it up for me to get a drink. Which I appreciated very much. Just a pain to ask the guy every time to open it up so you can get a drink. Overall, I would definitely stay again. (:

Based on Yelp and another travel site's positive ratings, I booked a room at Jerry's for my four-day stay in LA. The property (especially the sign) is a cozy throwback to yesteryear--yet my room had a large flat-screen tv, wi-fi, compact fridge and microwave. I also chose Jerry's because of its close proximity to the downtown LA, the Financial District and the 101. The location was perfect. Jerry and wife run the place and they really take care of you. Look, if you're like me and plan to spend most of your time away from your room, why throw away handfuls of money on a name-brand hotel that charges you for internet? Jerry's is on now my list of favorites in LA.

We hopped of the plane at LAX, jumped in to our rental car and headed for Jerry's for 2 nights. Unfortunately I took a different turn and ended in some places that weren't so great and was feeling way out of place. Got back on track and found Jerry's, thank god for Jerry's!!

Jerry and his family are lovely people and really made us feel safe and calm. The room contains your typical motel 1 queen bed, bar fridge, Flat Panel TV with HBO, desk, safe, air con, free WiFi, free park etc... (actually, now when I think of it, Jerry's really does provide the goods compared to other places).

Jerry and his family were always happy to help, giving directions and advice on where to go. We would get a phone call each morning and Jerry or his wife would bring us breakfast (cereal, fruit, a botle of water and this very tasty Indian tea).

Jerry's Motel is definitely a gem just outside of downtown LA. Perfect spot to get around LA easily, not far from the highways either if you need to get out of the city and see other sights. We'll definitely be heading back to Jerry's Motel when next in LA.

Remember the movie "Falling Down"? Well, this is the kind of place Mike Douglas could have wound up had he wanted to take a little nap.

This motel is not "lovely" or a "gem"! While the pleasant owner keeps it clean and it has *minor* upgrades bringing it into the 21st Century, Jerry's Motel is located in a simply godawful area of L.A. and you will not want to walk outside of the parking lot! To make matters worse, it is surrounded on all sides by low-rent apartment buildings where folks lounge around watching TV late into the night, guzzling beer.

Do not make the mistake I did by staying here even one night -- unless you really want to get a scuzzy old "L.A. Confidential" kind of vibe. As many of you may know Los Angeles can be a very depressing place in the wrong areas, maybe comparable only to Detroit. If that's what you want for your vacation, look no further than Jerry's Motel. Personally, I couldn't wait to leave.

We stayed at Jerry's Motel for a little over a week last summer and I've been meaning to post a review about our amazing stay, but I was nervous about the word getting out about this lodging secret. However I really gotta give Jerry and his lovely family props for creating this little wonder of a motel.
At first glance, you may wonder why this place consistently gets amazing reviews and recommendations. It's, you know, a motel. No bells and whistles really--you're not going to find a giant marble jacuzzi in your bathroom or an advance PS4 hooked up to a giant entertainment system. There aren't many photos of the actual building exterior anywhere, and from the outside it looks like the type of old-school motel that may greet you with a really sad, roach-y, run-down room once you turn that key. The ridiculously low price is really what made us nervous about what we were checking ourselves into, but it soon became evident that those rates are only part of why this place has earned a great reputation. There's fewer places in LA that are this inexpensive (it would actually be cheaper to stay at Jerry's than to live in most crappy apartments in California). The location is pretty decent, close to a lot of different types of restaurants and bars and pretty central to major attractions on a larger scale. It's not a fancy neighborhood and you may find yourself looking at some low-income housing, but it feels pretty safe and quiet for anyone used to any sort of urban area. The only sort of noise we encountered was a marching band practicing at the local high school, and honestly is there any more innocent sound disturbance than that?
The REAL charm of Jerry's is that the owners go so above and beyond in their jobs that it may restore your faith in mankind (especially when LA can sometimes be a little draining in the humanity department). You can tell that their motel is their baby and after working for years in customer service I honestly could not appreciate that more. Jerry called us the morning of our check-in date to see when we would be arriving to ensure the room would be ready, and it was totally good to go when we pulled in to their lot with plenty of free parking spots [hallelujah]. He greeted us with a genuine smile and a bag of info, drinks and munchies (healthy and guilty-pleasure varieties alike) when we arrived, an oasis after being stuck and overheated in traffic for hours. We were surprised at how clean and and comfortable we were in our room, even after blowing all our money at a super deluxe hotel in San Francisco. The bed was comfy, the AC was awesome, and we enjoyed appliances we didn't expect from such a cheap room like a fridge, microwave, free wifi, and a flat-screen TV with lots of movie channels. The owners still followed up to make sure we were happy with our room and that everything was in order. They were excellent at keeping the room clean and somehow managed the nearly impossible task of cleaning up after our totally slobby Cali-vacation-mindset-ways (swimsuits on the floor, makeup all over the bathroom, you know) without ever making us feel like they were invading our privacy or rummaging through our stuff.
They don't have continental breakfast--obviously, its a motel--so we stocked up on some breakfast food for the next morning but forgot to get plastic utensils. We mentioned this on our way out the door and Jerry reemerged from his home with some of his family's own silverware, plus some coffee to get us going. Another morning his wife asked us what we were up to for the day and we told her we were going to find a beach, so she made sure we had directions to all her favorite beaches (and even asked us if we wanted a ride!), and then gave us some beach chairs and umbrellas to borrow for the day. I mean, seriously? Are these maybe the most caring motel owners in LA? Um, maybe the nicest people in the world? Now I'm not suggesting you show up knocking on their door demanding insider tourism info, a ride to the bar, or to borrow their personal belongings (please don't, clearly we kinda love these people), but the point is that we honestly felt like we were family staying at Jerry's, certainly not what we expected from a Los Angeles motel.
We booked this place with hesitance, but trusting the recommendations. Now I don't think we'll ever want to book anywhere else when we stay in LA. We were hoping that staying financially conservative with our lodgings wouldn't hurt our trip and instead it really enhanced it. Sincere thanks to Jerry and his family for having a fantastic establishment, and more importantly being really fantastic people!

Stayed at Jerry's one night in June this past summer not knowing the area and based on good reviews. Very clean (small, but enough for me) room and I swear the cleanest bathroom I've ever seen at a hotel, and I've stayed in some expensive places. Mini-fridge and small desk. They gave me a little bag of snacks which was a nice touch. DirecTV in the room with a nice big flatscreen. Friendly staff. Great communication after booking. Neighborhood felt safe.

A little extra: I left a shirt in my room and they were kind enough to track it down (it was white and got mixed in with the linens during laundry time) and they got it back to me.

If I ever have the occasion to go to that part of LA again, I'll stay at Jerry's.

When I pulled in I mentioned to my husband it looks like a place you rent by the hour.  However, I had read the Yelp reviews and decided to try it for our one night in downtown LA.  Very pleasant surprise.  The woman at the front desk was sweet as can be.  We got a little bag of snacks, a map and a list of places to eat and things to do.  Room was small but extremely clean with a big TV, minifridge and two breakfast muffins.  My one and only complaint is there was instant coffee but no creamer or sugar; no biggie.  Would stay here again.  And...free parking!

I'm a big fan of Jerry's now. My husband booked it for me and I was a little wary of the location, when I arrived. I will now stay there whenever I need a place near downtown LA. From first checkin to checkout, the staff were very professional. Jerry's son took over after Jerry retired and he sure does know how to keep customers happy. I did a double take when I was handed a bag of small treats after checking in. They record your license plate number because of the tiny lot which accommodates one car per unit. We saw a hpless couple pull in to make out in the car, but they were promptly chased off before the show could begin.
Jerry's is surrounded by apartments and we were treated to some acapella singing and a range of music from Cumbia to Country, courtesy of the apartment across the lot. Once we tired of dancing on the balcony, we closed the door to our room and heard nothing more. There is a nice TV with cable and a microwave. The wifi was spotty but once I actually got around to ringing the desk about it they took great pains to make sure it was working properly. The rooms are decorated with a midcentury modern motif and although the furniture is plain - it gets the job done. The bathroom was very nice and clean and the room had a capacious closet with a safe and room for your luggage. This is definitely as good as it gets for an old school motel in downtown LA. I will be back.

A Very Pleasant Surprise

I made a reservation based on many of the positive reviews here on Yelp; it's hard to find a reasonably priced hotel in LA, you either find the $400 4-star places or the cheap $69 places complete with syringes under the pillows, not many middle of the road places. Also, I like the idea of supporting a small business/independently run motel.

We drove down from San Jose and arrived early, so weren't able to check in, but that gave us an opportunity to grab a bite, do a few errands, and enjoy nearby Echo Park. I have to admit that I had my doubts when I first saw the location, but if you pay close attention, there are hints that this is a well cared for place: potted plants outside, eco-friendly landscaping, no garbage or cigarette butts in the parking lot, and fresh paint.

We were able to check in one hour early which we appreciated since we were so tired from the 6-hour drive. True to the reviews, we were given a small goodie bag and there were muffins in the room... who does that, but a small family run place!? Kudos! The women who checked us in even recommended a great place for tamales.

The room was great, simple, clean, cool, with a fridge, coffee maker, etc. The bed was comfortable, the shower refreshing. I was quite impressed by the well organized binder of useful information about the motel, the neighborhood, and exploring LA. I would recommend this place to anyone and will definitely come back. We ended up staying an extra night in LA, but Jerry's was full, so make your reservations early, the place is small, just about 10 rooms.

Next time i go to downtown LA, i will probably stay at Jerry's Motel.  It's small, like ten rooms or so, but being that small makes the staff take care of you.  They were very nice.  Upon arrival, you are greeted with a bag of snacks and bottled water and there are free muffins in the room next to the coffee maker.  A simple way to add a nice touch to your customer's experience.  The room was small, but how big do you really need?  And, DirecTV in the room with a lot of channels.  See you next time, Jerry's Motel.

Amazing place to discover busy LA! Really a Motel at its best - we were welcomed by amazingly helpful and friendly staff who answered all the questions before we didn't even had to ask :). The restaurant/diner tips they gave us were pretty amazing...right in the middle between downtown and Hollywood we were perfectly located to eat in Little japan and take a walk on Hollywood Boulevard within a few hours! Book in advance to get a room!

I was suspicious when I ran across Jerry's online.  A place to stay in LA this cheap?  I figured it must be bedbug infested or other residents may be renting by the hour.

I was super surprised when I read the Yelp reviews and I decided to give it a shot.  I am super happy that I did.

While the neighborhood isnt the nicest (but it IS totally safe) and the outside of the building doesnt lead you to believe you are getting much - the inside is a total shock.
The rooms are clean, the bathrooms newly refitted with modern fixtures, and the pillows are perhaps the most comfortable I have ever had the pleasure of sleeping on.

The owners are super kind and very nice.

Would I say that Jerry's Motel is a 4 star stay?  Nope.
But if you want a location that is central, a great value, and to be able to support a local business its totally the place for you!

A really pleasant surprise.

Planned to spend a few nights at Stay on Main til I read that it was haunted. No, thanks. So we looked for another place and Jerry's popped up.

Area seemed a bit sketch at first. It's tucked in a small space with surrounding apartments but very convenient near the DTLA area.

Snacks come with your check-in! Thought it was a cute gesture. Staff was also very accommodating and provided us with maps and tips. Each room gets a parking spot and it seems like there was just enough spots for the amount of rooms they had. They ask for your license plate number and the type of car you brought with you.

Rooms were clean and there was a modern touch to the decor. There was Direct TV, a fridge, and a mini walk in closet with a safe. Bathroom was pretty top notch and up to par with ones in hotels.

Overall, a great stay for the price you pay and I definitely would come back here again. Felt safe the entire time.

I recommend making reservations in advance cause they do get booked!

You can't beat the price for a clean room with free parking and a great location. The owners are lovely & we look forward to returning in the future. Did I mention free snacks?!?

Jerry's Motel is a lovely establishment. That said, it appears that they don't value their Hilton Honors Members because the Executive Lounge is a hole in the wall with poor offerings and a breakfast not worth climbing the stairs for. It should be a convenience for guests to have a reasonable light breakfast, this is not the case at Jerry's Motel. I would never pay extra for it.

Great hosts, delicious snacks, a clean and homey room with no issues at all. I was very pleasantly surprised to find they had the obscure cable cricket channel, on match day no less. Bonus points for having a kettle for tea and coffee. Wifi dropped out occasionally for me, but it was usable. The neighbourhood's power went out due to a storm and the owners were immediately door knocking with flashlights. They actually care about your stay and their reputation, which is nice.

Affordable rate, and a decent location that did not seem too dangerous, despite the grunge. Walk to Little Tokyo or take a 10min bus / $6 Uber ride to Koreatown. They held our bags for us until 5pm after we checked out, which was greatly appreciated!

I'll be back whenever I need to visit downtown.

Awesome motel. I would definitely stay again if needed. Staff is very friendly and more than helpful. You're given a bag of snacks and water right off the bat, plus more in the room. It is very close to downtown, easily walked every day to where I needed to go. The room itself was nice and clean, good size, simply decorated, and comfortable. Gladly came back every night. Can't beat the free parking either. Thanks!

Bathroom and room very clean. Flat screen TV with many channels. Mismatched, adequate furniture, small fridge.  We walked downtown.

The minuses: noise kept me awake and  from time to time it was waking up my husband. Single pane windows are a part of the problem. The curtain on the window was very short and narrow and  was kept closed by two clamps. It allowed a lot of light in. Maybe it is up to which room you get?

If you do the booking through Expedia the owner will ask you to direct any complaints to him and not to put it in your review.

Jerry's Motel is a great place to stay in Downtown Los Angeles. Full of old-world charm, an ornate lobby and first-class amenities. It is also in the heart of downtown, close to the Magnificent mile, the Cheesecake Factory and the Navy pier. I have stayed here several times and always enjoy returning.

I stayed here for Anime Expo 2014.

Pros: The price and cleanliness of the hotel! The room itself is a good size for two cosplaying adults and the facilities are kept up very nicely.

***Weird digression: I've stayed in many hotels (mostly chains) and have been traveling from a very young age, and have gotten into the habit of wearing flip flops in hotel rooms and wiping down every usable surface with alcohol since I'm a bit of a clean freak. D: My partner did not wear flip flops, but the bottoms of his feet did not turn black, or even a light shade of gray throughout our stay at Jerry's. The alcohol-soaked towel I used to wipe everything down didn't even pick up any dinginess either. Wow. Anyways, the floors are very clean, along with everything else in the room. End weird digression.***

It was $285 (including tax) to stay for three nights.

You get a bag of snacks when you check in and the hotel does give you two free muffins every morning with two teabags and two instant coffee packs. Oh, if you don't eat your muffins or drink your stuff, they won't refill them, obviously. Each room has a mini fridge and an electric kettle.

The owners of the hotel are very polite and accessible at all times (I came back at midnight and had lost my room key, and they promptly issued me another one sans complaint). When you check in, they give you tons of information on how to get around the city and on places to eat and such.

There's free Wifi and if you drive, there is free parking. There's satellite TV, too. It's a lot of fun to watch dubbed anime late at night after seeing all the character cosplays or voice actors of the shows during the day.

The hotel is just outside of a 16/316 Metro stop that can take you right to the Expo line stop heading south to the convention center. If you stay here, I recommend this way to get to and from the con, as the other routes require you to walk around downtown Los Angeles more than you might want to, especially if you're in costume/uncomfortable shoes/a wig or carrying many bags. This bus and train also run quite late at night, dependably until midnight, unlike the DASH system that does not accept day passes or run past 6pm or operate on holidays.

I also recommend buying a day pass for your transit (TAP) card the first time you get on the bus every morning/noon you head to the con, so have several $5 bills on you if possible. It saves the trouble of having to carry about a bunch of smaller bills and change, and having to worry about paying for the train and buses later. Plus, you can visit Little Tokyo for lunch and dinner by just taking a few trains! Oh, and get a transit card, first of all. It will make your life so much easier and only costs a dollar at any train stop.

Cons: I wish it was a bit closer to the convention, so just be careful walking around downtown Los Angeles at night in the surrounding areas.

There is no elevator so pick your room accordingly (there are two stories of rooms, five rooms on each floor). I also wish there were microwaves in the rooms. The bathroom counter space is also basically nonexistent, so that's something to keep in mind if you need space to apply makeup or your wig.

It also can get a bit noisy at night because of the fireworks on July 4th, but not enough to disturb the sleep of a very tired con attendee.  As far as other noises go, I had no problem with them otherwise as my fellow hotel guests were very respectful. I guess I did have a problem with my partner's snoring, but that's no fault of Jerry's Motel.

The earliest check in is at 3pm, so you'll have to tote around your bags if you arrive early on at the con. No, it's not fun to carry around a big rolly bag while standing for three hours in that pre-reg badge pickup line, or to walk around the exhibit hall with your luggage as people constantly trip over it. Check out is at 11am, so be prepared to carry around your bag if you plan on going back to the con on checkout day. This really isn't the hotels fault, though. :P Just a note. And yes, I refuse to pay for bag check at the convention.

Also, you can only have two people per room, but that was not an issue for me.

Tiny room, paint chipping off the walls, visible white stains on the chair (gag), small & slow elevator's that can only fit about 5 people at a time (waited 5+ minutes each time), $60 valet (book advance through park whiz at a garage a couple blocks down for $36 per night)

I had a great stay at Jerry's Motel! Don't let the word "motel" fool you because they offer quite a few perks most hotels in the area don't!

At check in, you are greeted with a small welcome bag of snacks & bottled water. The owners were very friendly & offered a wealth of information about surrounding attractions, restaurants & transportation. They give you a list of these things & how far away they are & what public transportation to take.

Upon getting in the room, it is very clean with modern decor & fixtures. There is a nice flat screen HD tv with satellite, free wi-fi, mini fridge, stocked with muffins, teas, instant coffee & an electric kettle. Nice size shower & walk in closet with safe. Comfortable queen size bed & good size air conditioning unit within reaching range from bed. Room has a dresser and small desk area.

The check out is 11am but they allowed me to store my bags in the room until my shuttle bus arrived at 2pm. I went out for breakfast nearby at the Central Market about 4 min away via Uber. They're very close in location to the fashion district.

I'd really recommend staying here, it was a very reasonable price for the quality of service. I felt very safe there as well.

We stayed here this past weekend on the 10th floor - the executive level. It was amazing. The rooms were huge and clean. The view was beautiful. Being able to go to the executive lounge was a really nice perk - breakfast, beverages during the day and appetizers at night! The location is perfect. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to CA.

Let me start by saying the owners of this hidden gem are AWESOME. I have to admit I was a little worried when I first arrived on the scene here because like the other reviews mentioned this place is in the "HOOD". There is a hospital down the street......there is a school across the street.....there is a little local market on the corner....and the motel is surrounded by 2 apartment complexes. You see I have seen TONS of motels in my lifetime in neighborhoods just like this one and I ALWAYS drive right past them.....so imagine my feeling when I seen this location. However thanks to my fellow YELPERS I made a reservation here and I must tell you I did not regret it.

So first let me start by telling you that when you reserve your room you will have 4 options for times that you want to check in. The first check in time is 3pm-5pm and they absolutely want be checking anyone in before that time because there are only 10 rooms and the owners actually clean the rooms . I think that is totally awesome because I know that saves them overhead.....not to mention I would think that keeps them both on a consistent schedule. So when we arrived (at 11:00am) or so there was phone outside of the office that you have to dial to confirm your reservation or check on room vacancies. One of the owners answered the phone and told me to return at 3pm since they were totally booked. He was very pleasant and professional and confirmed my reservation.

When we returned at 3pm.....We were promptly checked us in and we had a very pleasant conversation. I was provided a map....snacks for the room......SNACKS......are your kidding me that was awesome.....and of course our room keys. When we entered the room well let's just say it was small.....but that was not a bad thing at all. The bed was very nice and comfortable.....very nice mounted Flat Screen TV.....and a mini fridge. The shower was also very big and the water pressure was awesome. So while the room was small the carpet and decor were very immaculate. There was no bucket for Ice but when I called down to the office one of the owners brought us some right away in a nice round resealable container......that was truly impressive to me. The rooms are cleaned daily and the owners make sure all of your needs are taken care of in a timely manner.,

Now here are the very small issues I had with the room:

Small work desk
Small Lamps
Small Sink.....no counter space
Small round Toilet.....which I see is an LA institution....LOL
Small Parking lot.....but there is at least 10 spots so everyone can park
Refrigerator noise can be a little irritating
Small end tables
No Microwave

So why do I still give this motel 5 stars.....well it is only 2 miles from L.A. Live......Staples Center.....Nokia Center.....and the L.A. Convention Center. You can take public transportation right to the front door of those various locations if you don't have a rental car. While the motel is surrounded by 2 apartment complexes and in an unsavory neighborhood.....I didn't feel unsafe and there was hardly any noise. The most important reason I keeping this motel at a 5 star rating is the PRICE.....78 bucks a night in downtown LA.......with FREE Parking.....if you can do better PLEASE let me know.

So to conclude.....on the final day of our stay.....I believe I met the mother of one of the owners and she was very pleasant as well. I told her to tell our hosts l really appreciated there hospitality and that this motel would be my GO TO spot from now on WHENEVER I decide to stay in Downtown Los Angeles. One more tip.....if you should decide to stay here when you visit downtown LA.....and I highly recommend that you do.....ask for room #7 on the second floor. It is near the street.....however again it is not noisy and it is right near the stairs for easy in and out access. Not to mention if you can get one of the two parking spots right near the office you can walk right down the stairs and step into your car......truck....SUV....etc....that's all I got for now.

Eat, Drink, and be Merry my Friends!!!!!!

My boyfriend & I chose to stay here for one night after winning tickets to the Amy Schumer comedy show. I don't think I could of picked a better place to stay. The bed was so comfortable, we didn't want to get up in the morning. The room was clean & smoke free (Thumbs Up). It was literally 5 min away from the Orpheum Theatre (our destination), so location was perfect! They gave us a welcoming snack baggie, which was thoughtful. Its the little things that count. I usually prefer chain hotels since they offer a lot more, BUT since we literally only needed a bed to sleep on this was our #1 choice and the price was AWESOME. I would definitely recommend this motel and i would definitely come back for another stay whenever I visit LA. Thanks for the hospitality Jerry's Motel!

Forgot to write a review after staying here in December 2014.

The price for one night was about $90. It was a discount to those that lived outside of LA.

The place is small and has a small parking lot reserved for those that have booked a room. So there's about 10 spaces for the 10 rooms they have available.

When you arrive there is a phone located at the front of the office to reach one of the employees to have them check you in. Also, I recommend that you arrive around your check in time and not earlier. We arrived an hour early and they weren't done cleaning the rooms yet.

At check in you receive a bag filled with snacks and water bottles.

The room is very clean and nice. The bathroom is unique and modern I would say? There is a mini fridge and a hot water maker. They also provide two muffins & coffee and tea packets in the room. The closet I'd a small walk in.

They also have a flat screen with direct tv and the TV selection is not limited either.

I would definitely stay here again & recommend it!
