the rooms are beautiful and amenities include very high-thread count sheets, a down comforter if i remember correctly, a music system, and contemporary decor (no weird paisley or funky color patterns - everything is white!).  the pool is also quite nice and i would def go back.  even though I was only there for a party, this hotel seems like a great deal!

Hotels that cost twice as much should learn from the Magic Castle Hotel.  The service was unbelievable -- helpful with transportation, movies playing in the area, free (non-alcoholic) drinks. They don't have room service, but the continental breakfast is included and high quality, wireless is free as are dvd loaners.  Having a spacious one-bedroom suite for just over $200 a night (incuding breakfast and afternoon cider/cookies) was the bargain of teh century.  The staff was the most helpful I have encountered in this country.  I feel like we have a place to be at home in LA.

I had the pleasure of staying at the Magic Castle hotel in the summer of 2007. The suites are enormous, the staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, and the location is within walking distance of Hollywood Blvd. When I checked out, I made sure to fill out the comment card. The manager was kind enough to send me a thank you note for the comment card.

Overall, a great stay at Magic Castle. From the moment we walked in to the moment we checked out, the service was nothing less than stellar. We were offered sparkling juice of sorts on check-in to toast our stay. I loved the assortment of free snacks provided and the free DVDs. We had a small room due to a very last minute booking, but that's ok because the bed was soooo comfy. We only wished that they offered both firm and soft pillows as both the hubby and I like firm support. The only reason why this place doesn't get 5 stars is because the hotel can get a little noisy. We could hear people talking outside in the courtyard and there were some kids bouncing a ball. A quick call to the front desk took care of it. We had a late check-out and missed breakfast, but the staff was so great-they packed us some muffins to go! Service was outstanding. We will be back!

I originally booked here because i wanted to go to the Magic castle Club, however because we were staying here on labor day the club was closed... :(   I was going to cancel the reservation....I am so glad I didn't. This place is awesome... We pulled right up and checked to see if we could check in an hour early... "Sure no problem, and Mrs. Brown we went ahead and upgraded you to a one bedroom suite" Hell yea! ""Also just so you know our pool is open 24 hours a day and we offer all of these snacks up at the front desk complimentary- (Hands me a list of snack foods including sodas, bottle water, candies, popcorn, etc) Okay great..... Can you give me directions to Universal studio via the Metro?.... "Sure"... (hands me a pre-printed card with directions to and from the hotel to Universal).... That's when i fell in love, but there was more.... They handed me our parking pass ( tons of parking located in the basement under the hotel) and handed us sparkling lemonata in champagne glasses and said, "Mr. and Mrs. Brown we just wanted to thank you for being our guest, we hope that you enjoy your stay." Haha to great... first we are not married and second MY last name is  Brown not his... I loved it.... The room was huge and I kind of wanted to move into it permanently... It just felt really homey to me... On the way to Universal we grabbed ice cold cucumber water (my favorite) and apples.... The morning buffet was great mini croissants, yogurt with granola, cereals galore, and a variety of juices.... Plus the proximity of everything in accordance to this hotel can't be beat. Literally 2 blocks to Hollywood and Vine.... Walking distance to a ton of touristy attractions.... This will be my go-to hotel whenever I need a place to stay in Hollywood.

We would highly recommend this hotel!

Oh, do I have stories from the Magic Hotel. Well, it may be called the Magic Castle Hotel now, but it WAS the Magic Hotel originally. Yes, its located just on the west side of the same block as the Magic Castle. Since the 80s when I was a teen, this was my hang out. Yes, hang out. My best friends (twins) worked there as their father and uncle ran the place. Oh every possible celeb from out of town would stay there, but I'm not about to name drop since its pointless. This is Hollywood, and the Magic is right smack dab in the center of Hollywood, just a stones throw from the Chinese Theater. Our little circle of friends and band mates all hung out there, and some of us lost our virginity in those rooms, but I'll spare you all the details. It was ritual, come home from school or work, go to the Magic. My prospective is not going to be completely fair since I was never a guest, but that place is in my blood and I'm going to put in my 2.5 cents.

The history of this place lives in the walls. The cute rooms, the pool area, the front desk. I may be jaded by sentimentality, but personal history aside, this place has soul unlike most places that aren't expensive like the Roosevelt for instance. I love telling the story of the Swedish family that came to stay. The daughters went out to the pool and took their tops off like it was normal. Nobody complained, but someone did eventually inform them that it was not exactly allowed in these here parts, so sadly, they put their parts away.

I will give one of many many stories that come to mind. A guest that practically lived there was a gentleman I will call Mr. Davis. Well, Ok, that was actually his name. Imagine an intellectual and distinguished business man in his late 40s to early 50s. Picture the smoking jacket and pipe type and you get the picture. Now, Imagine a slightly snobby delivery of speech, somewhat like Stewie of Family Guy, and you pretty much have Mr. Davis. The twins and I went to his room and here is this man sitting next to his dog, who is on his back and Mr. Davis is lightly rubbing the underside of the dogs testicles. Now, I don't know about you, but I pretty much felt this called for comment. The three of us look and were speechless at first, but before I could say anything, Mr. Davis blurted "What? Wouldn't you enjoy this if you were a dog?" Nothing more was said about it.

I almost hate to give 5 stars cause I want to keep this place a secret! I've stayed at both Hollywood hills and magic castle and both rock! Like the reviews say, it's the little touches here that count for a lot, the free snacks, wifi, 24 hour heated pool, and more. Everyone who works here is super friendly. Every time we come to la, we stay here. Walking distance to hollywood blvd, I could go on and on. Reasonable rates for la! Love this place!

Hands down, this is one of the best places I have ever stayed!  Reasonable rates for the area.  The heated pool is open 24 hours as long as the noise level is down.  (hollywood hills hotel pool is not heated, but beautiful) Loved the free snack bar for late night munchies. Impressed by the free dvd library. Beds, bedding and complimentary robes are very comfortable and clean.  Continental breakfast not to disappoint.

This is the perfect place to stay if you are visiting the Magic Castle   magiccastle.com       You might as well get a suite because it is not that much more.   Our suite (#216) was very spacious and nicely decorated,   it had  king bed with duvet, a full kitchen and TV's in living room and bedroom.   Bathroom had a jacuzzi tub.   Our friends had a standard room facing the street which I would not recommend, too much noise from street traffic, plus no balcony.  So ask for an internal room overlooking pool.    Great little place to stay when you want to play tourist in Hollywood.   Also has a nice continental breakfast and secure parking for about $220 per night (for the suite).

This is a wonderful hotel.  It is not a trendy, spa hotel, to be sure, but even if I were a fan of that sort of hotel, this place would have changed my mind.  It consists of mostly one and two bedroom apartments, with some studios sprinkled in (that seem to be the only non rave review rooms)  My friend and I had a one bedroom with two beds and it was so spacious.  Sizable living room, bathroom, dining room and kitchen and even a hallway with a well lit vanity table.  They provide robes and nicely scented toiletries.  As people have mentioned there is a free mini bar, which is no joke.  We rolled in at 2am after a night on the town and asked for Reeses, snickers, M and M's, Fritos and Doritos and were handed a bag of all our requests promptly.  They have a pretty large sized DVD rental list that contained plenty of recent releases and it was a great thing to break up our days and nights.  The continental breakfast was yummy with fresh fruits (and not just apples and bananas) various good pastries, cereals, toast, juices, coffee and tea.  The staff was very helpful and their shuttle was prompt and a great asset when trying to go to The Magic Castle and Yamashiro.  I was surprised upon entering my room to find balloons, a amazing cake and card for my Birthday.  While most tout this as a great family hotel, it also works well for singles coming to Hollywood for the nightlife.  I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is not a hotel snob.

There are definetly a lot of good qualities-free dvds, snacks, friendly staff, good location. A warning to those blocking rooms for group events. My husband and I ran into trouble-we were told we were being given a discounted rate since a large block of rooms had been blocked for the event we were attending (which is why we booked at this hotel), but when we arrived they attempted to charge us much more for the rooms and gave us resistance when we brought the error to their attention. After two days of dealing with their error, they finally lived up to the original deal. The general manager gave us an apology for all of the problems which we appreciated.

My Uncle was a Night Clerk at this Hotel and was murdered on August 12, 1995 in the Lobby. I've never stepped foot in the place and don't plan on it. I just wanted to make what happened to my Uncle George Sidaross public knowledge. I hope since his murder that this place has installed security cameras on the premisis, since his murder has gone unsolved to this day.

I stayed at the Magic Castle Hotel once so far, a two night stay. I live about 30 minutes away from the place, but it was a nice little local get-away that weekend. Stayed in a one bedroom suite by the front of the building. Our balcony overlooked Franklin, the main street it's on. A little noisy with the sliding doors or windows open, but other than that, no problems with noise. The employees were soooooo very friendly, and were more than happy to answer any questions about going to the Magic Castle, and dinner, etc.
I really enjoyed the interior of the suite!!! All the furnishings were nice and comfortable, a little retro, but nice. I also really liked the framed prints of vintage magic posters, they were a very nice touch. They also provide the nicest robes with the Magic Castle logo on it, I wanted to keep it, but didn't of course! :)
The only thing that made me give it 4 stars and not 5 was the pool. The gravel stones were all coming apart, so when you would walk into the pool you would get pieces of it stuck to your feet, and it HURT!! :( Not so nice. I would stay here again.

We used Trip Advisor reviews to select this hotel. After Disneyland we stayed a couple of days in LA. This very cool "Melrose Place" style building has been converted into a lovely boutique hotel. It was spotless, the room was fantastic, the pool was wonderful, but the service blew us away. Seasoned travellers know the drill with hotels, bored desk clerks and uniformed mistreated workers following a script that feels hollow. You want a genuine helpful wonderful hotel experience, come to this place.
Our children FREAKED out over the unlimited free snacks. I won't even admit how many times they went back to get goodies.. and maybe a few times for us.
One night we didn't feel like braving the traffic, and craved chicken and ribs. The whole front desk crew went to work to find us a place that boasted good food and delivered. They found us a place, looked up the menu on line, called to make sure the place delivered, and then walked the menu up to our room. That is one example of about 20 over the call of duty things that these folks did for us.
Parking is secure, this place is a 3 minute walk from the Chinese Theatre on Hollywood BLVD, and the pool is heated salt water and nobody is stingy with towels or anything else. My only advice is don't take a room at the front of the hotel. The automatic doors rattled us out of bed all night. Take a suite with a balcony at the back of the building overlooking the pool. You will be glad you did.

This is a cute little place -- a little outdated, but with fantastic service and a pretty good location.

Useful hint -- they offer a "24-hour, unlimited mini bar" service at the front desk.

Plus, they bought us free calamari at Yamashiro.  Awesome :)

    PS -- Very pricey...

Spectacular customer service, very quaint feel!

My boyfriend and I didn't know what to expect from this vintage apartment building turned hotel, but we are so glad to have found it! They customer service was spectacular! They welcome you with a fizzy drink and have a complimentary mini bar where you can have as much as you want. We told them we were celebrating our 4 year anniversary and they had a miniature chocolate cake waiting for us in our room! They also gave us a FREE upgrade to a suite and had no problems giving us a late check-out time of 1:00pm. There is also a complimentary breakfast buffet, but we didn't go (had to save room for PINK"S Hot dogs!) The room was basically an exact 1 bedroom apartment (complete with a little kitchen...silverware in the drawers!)

The only "downside" is that it really isn't fancy...so if you're used to the pristine painted walls and silk comforters of the Ritz...be prepared, it's not like that here. However, I am picky when it comes to hotels and I loved it here!

Spectacular customer service, very quaint feel!

I am posting this so late, but I came here last year in December 2011 for my boyfriend's birthday and it was an awesome stay. The hotel used to be an apartment complex. I had booked a studio suite for our stay. Upon arrival, the staff was super friendly and helpful. We arrived a bit earlier so were going to walk down the street to check out the sights. The staff made sure we had snacks on hand, map handy and were so pleasant. When we returned, we checked in.....and they upgraded us free of charge! When I asked why they were being so nice, they said because it seemed like I knew a lot about the hotel! (i had asked specific questions about things based on what i had read on yelp prior to booking) It was also my boyfriend's birthday so when we got to our 1 bedroom room, they already had a Bday chocolate cake ready for us on the dining table with balloons! The place was spacious, just like a 1 bedroom place with the living room, bedroom, dining area and kitchen with full-sized fridge and stove. If you stay at the hotel, then you are able to get reservations to walk next door to the Magic Castle dinner buffet and show! there is a charge for that, but it's fun. We had yummy buffet dinner and then saw some fun magic shows. When it was over we walked back to the hotel. The hotel gives you a list of snacks, non-alcoholic drinks and dvds available to you...for FREE! So we went down the list, and called the front desk and got a messload of snacks, along with Snakes on a Plane! It was awesome! The parking has a separate charge, but you park it underground and it's very convenient. I would definitely return to this place. The service was just exceptional! Thank you Magic Castle Hotel!

This place is a great retreat form the constant go of LA.  It's a pain to find the entrance the first time around since it's not well marked, but it's worth the effort.  The place is clean, quiet and very comfortable.  We had a small suite overlooking the pool - will ask for a room on the west side next time to be able to enjoy the sun in the AM - that was spacious and well appointed.  The breakfast was a nice touch; not a lot of choice, but enough to be interesting for a few days.  But the most memorable thing about the Magic Castle Hotel is the staff - they are the best.  Friendly, helpful and a delight to be around after a long day.

I'm the type of person that appreciates boutique hotels with spacious rooms, comfortable beds and excellent service. The Magic Castle = check, check and CHECK! It really is a true home away from home and I found myself growing a little attached even in my short 1 night stay. I had a lovely suite overlooking the pool; the size of the rooms are really unparalleled for the area. I was a little nervous that the noise level could be loud as people socialized around the pool, but I really couldn't hear a thing. Very impressive!

Like others, I definitely indulged in the free 24 hour snacks and soft drinks from the front desk. Free soda and chips. My inner child couldn't be happier! And the staff... oh the staff! They're warm, kind and helpful. Thanks guys!

Overall, I would stay here again in a heartbeat. It has a charm all it's own and I was instantly enamored.

I got to stay here on somebody else's dime, and I couldn't have been happier with it!!!

That one little factor probably skews my review a bit, because I heard the rooms are quite pricey. I got to stay in one of the two-bedroom suites along with four other people, and I think it was somewhere around $300-$400 a night! Damn! But it was very nice...incredibly spacious and clean. KIng beds were in each bedroom, and the sheets/comforters/mattresses/pillows were top of the line. There was also a full kitchen, as well as a pull-out sofa bed in the living room. The furniture and decor is sort of vintage meets modern.

The service we received from the staff and the front desk was also impeccable. They serve complimentary hot apple cider and cookies in the lobby, and they also have a FREE mini-bar that operates from the check-in area, 24/7 no less! Forget in-room mini bars that charge you up the wazoo for a bag of chips-the Magic Castle hotel hooks you up with as much as you want, whenever you want!

The other thing I liked about it was that, although it was very nice, it didn't have a pretentious vibe. There weren't many "L.A." types walking around and looking glamorous, so I felt comfortable showing up in my yoga pants and hanging around on the patio by the pool in my PJs. It was a very relaxed atmosphere, not an action-packed, overly sceney type of place.

Also: free underground parking, free wifi, and free rides up the hill to their restaurant, Yamashiro, which is also an incredible place! And I'm not too familiar with the area, but I think it's in an excellent location, close to a lot of the "attractions."

If you can afford to stay here...highly recommended!

This place is great! It's centrally located and it's cozy.

We got to the hotel and parked in a space right in front of the entrance for check in.

We got complimentary champagne toasts.. sparkling grapefruit juice.. free snacks and a free room upgrade to a junior suite!

When we got into our room we had a cute card and gift! A delicious cake for our anniversary.

A continental breakfast was included every morning and the staff was friendly and greeted everyone!

The only downside was the noise right outside our room and the noise from upstairs, but the a/c drowned most of it out.

When we were woken up by noise from the patio (which was right outside our door) the reception desk kindly took care of it right away!

    It was great!!

A recent trip up to Hollywood to catch a NOFX show at the Music Box propelled me to the Magic Castle Hotel after reading reviews from peeps here. When you happen upon this establishment, you swear you're visiting your friend's apartment complex back in your undergrad days although they've assuredly cleaned this place up from its former life. When you walk into a suite, you suspect they just renovated the place after the last tenant moved out and furnished with Ikeaish modern furniture...and as a result, this place officially rules. Pics of Hollywood nostalgia made watching Clippers basketball while consuming adult beverages for an hour while waiting for my brother that much more enjoyable. The place felt very homey and I'd go back in a heartbeat when roaming in the Hollywood area.

One important note that seems to chime in with others here...the service was second to none and this is coming from someone who is utterly ambivalent to service unless it sucks or it is incredible. From the glass of near-champagne given at check-in (hell I don't drink champagne or wine, but I somehow slugged it down...must have been the rain & 3 hr ride in traffic coming up from the 619) to the parking accommodations given to my brother who was meeting me there to the courtesy shuttle ride from the hotel to the Music Box to offers to give me a doggie-bag of breakfast goods to take with me at checkout (I politely declined as I desperately needed coffee & bottled water at that time), the service kills you in a very good way.

This place was pretty magical when we visited! The dining area gives you a majestic Chinese garden feel with superb food, and GREAT service. Their service surpasses our expectations.

With rooms that can make any woman feel like a Princess, it is definitely one-of-a-kind. There's 24-hour refreshments at the front desk (variety of soda, candy, chips, granola bar, popcorn, etc), a REAL fulfilling continental breakfast, and wifi in the suites.

To top off the great service, it is located in the heart of Hollywood next to the best attractions for the tourists.

Anyone who gives this place one star has their head up their ass.

This place was awesome! EXACTLY what my friends and I were looking for to crash in L.A. for a week.  5 girls, we definitely needed a place with some space!  The room was huge, we had 2 decent sized bedrooms, a full sized living room with entertainment center and desk, full kitchen, one bathroom, and the closet space was insane!! Every girl had a closet to themselves and the 5th girl had the entire closet in the hallway (which was bigger then all of our closets combined) to herself. We even had a huge cabinet in the hall for all of our shoes!!

This was our first time to L.A. so we had all of our restaurants picked out already and reservations made. Except some places we forgot to get directions to and some of the taxi drivers didn't know how to get there! The staff was very quick to print us out directions to any place we wanted to go, especially since we had our own huge truck to zoom around in, they helped us learn our way around town.

We were always in and out and even made trips to Santa Monica, Venice Beach, Laguna Beach, Huntington Beach, and we crashed at a friend's place in San Diego for the night and also did a day trip to Vegas. Yeah this trip kicked ass. The staff was soooo sweet and accommodating. They got to know us pretty well and always made sure we had directions, knew where we were going and were Ok.

The breakfast in the morning was crazy. Sooo Sooo good. Everything was so fresh, I couldn't believe it was a continental breakfast!! Also they had free snacks you could pick up at the front desk 24 hours.  Munchies after a long night of drinking?? Ummm yeah.

The pool was small but quaint, not loud and crowded at all. We were usually in their by ourselves relaxing in the sun while we waited for our turn for the shower.

They also gave us a suite that had it's only little wing, so we could be as loud as we wanted.  Dance parties with blasting music from entertainment system were never interrupted. Huge plus!!

Would 100% stay here again, so worth it.

this is my first review, and the reason i joined yelp. in looking up the hotel, and the castle itself, information varied greatly, and being having a disability, the unknown can be a bit frightening.
i've stayed in many, many hotels, motels, from the ultra- high class, to once sharing a room with a moth as big as myself somewhere in the boonies of i don't know where.
the magic castle hotel is a treat. the staff is TOTALLY amazing. even though we arrived late, they hade our magic castle membership waiting for us, took our bags to our room (changed our room to a lower floor *NO ELEVATOR- not even for freight. we had a very large balcony that overlooked the street, but in a very nice area, so it was quiet. the castle itself is a steep walk just up the hill, but they brought a car around to take us up as we were already parked in the hotel lot. we were greeted by baloons, wine and cheese (a note on the dinette said to "check the 'fridge") because we had said it was our anniversary, and every single member of the staff was courteous, not because they had to be, but because t hey seemed to enjoy their jobs.
the room was AMAZING, having stayed in hollywood the year before for a premier, we spent slighty more money at a neat hotel, with typical hotel room, and a "hollywood" feeling. we had a very large bedroom w/ a king bed, closets galore, a small but nicely supplied bath (with lovely robes, for sale in the lobby), full ironing board, full kitchen WITH stove, (never found any pots or pans, didn't think to look inside the stove) 2 t.v.s, ipod/phone docking/charging stations, wifi and internet AND all the junk food you could eat for free!! just pop down to the desk and they have a list.
they also have menus for local restaurants and take out, and as a guest you have passage to the castle (we bought membership, so were able to skip the door fee), but the play ran over and we missed all the food and delivery available. the castle even went out of their way trying to find us some bar food, but it was just too late.
brunch was lovely at the castle, and even though, with checking in late, the food was warm, we just didn't have time to enjoy the meal. but the shows were terriffic. we have another membership for 30 days and we plan to stay at the hotel as often as possible.
i highly, highly recommend the hotel. for $179 for full suite (i fell asleep on the comfy living room couch withough even pulling out the sofa bed), it may be one of the best kept secrets in hollywood.
and no harm to any rabbits....

This hotel is one of the best deals in Hollywood.  We stayed there a week ago for one night and we were very pleasantly surprised.  Our reason for staying at the hotel was to gain access to the Magic Castle restaurant (which we loved).  So, we were willing to accept a less than stellar night at the hotel as the consolation.  That was NOT the case!

First of all, I drove down from San Francisco so I had my car.  The hotel has plenty of parking, which is really nice.  Once you are checked-in, they provide a card to display on your car windshield.  Then, you can use your hotel key to access the gated, underground  parking or just park outside of the gate, as I did.  The convenience of being able to jump in and out of your car without having to wait for a valet was very nice in a town where you drive everywhere.  I don't recall the daily parking rate, but I think it was really cheap, as in under $20 per day.

At check-in, the manager on duty was very friendly and asked if I enjoyed my dinner.  He brought everybody in my group a complmentary cocktail.  I had called a few times on my drive to get restaurant suggestions and a few other things.  I said yes, thank you for telling me where to go!  I was impressed that he remembered and commented.  It may be a small thing, but let's face it, nobody in the hotel usually talks to the guests on the phone when they call in.  It is usually a call center, not the front desk agent/manager/concierge/bell hop/etc.  I guess that is one of the perks you get in a small hotel.

One impressive thing to note is that the front desk had a large selection of DVD movies, candies, drinks, and snacks to enjoy in your room.  They offer this in lieu of a mini bar.  Sounds ok, but not great?  Here is the kicker, it is all FREE!  As many movies, snacks, sodas, and water that you can enjoy as part of your room rate.  I think that is fair.  We didn't take advantage, but I did grab a water and a chocolate bar for the next day.  That was certainly a nice touch when compared to the next night at a hotel in San Diego where I paid $18 for a jar of nuts and a beer.

The hotel has a pool that is heated and stays open 24 hours a day.  It was the place to be when the sun was out, but it wasn't noisy at all.  Mostly sunbathers.

There is also a shuttle to run you up the hill to The Magic Castle restaurant.  The Castle is extremely close, but the hill is steep and in dressy attire, you will want to take the quick ride.  Trust me.

The rooms are remodeled and are very nice.  We had a suite since we were traveling with a group of 3 and it was very large with a full kitchen, a living room with flat screen and pull out queen sleeper sofa, a nice bathroom that was a bit small, and a bedroom with a comfortable king bed and flat screen television.  The bedding was great, and contained a duvet cover that gets washed with every sheet change.  They had a little sign on the bed to tell you about this.  I hate comforters that never get washed on hotel beds and I usually remove them first thing when I get into the room.  I didn't have to do that in this hotel.

Our visit to The Magic Castle made an already great experience a 5-star memory that we will not soon forget.  I am writing a separate review for The Magic Castle restaurant, which is a private club.  Only members gain access, unless you are a guest of this hotel.  Further, you must be 21 to enter The Magic Castle restaurant unless you go for Sunday brunch.  Then, children are allowed.  Details and dress code information is on the website.  Be sure to check that before you go as they have some strict policies.  If you plan ahead and go prepared, you will not be disappointed!!!  If you don't plan to visit the restaurant, this hotel is still a great deal, and would receive a 4-star rating from me.

The Magic Castle Hotel is the perfect stay for your next trip to LA. I had a wonderful experience with them and the location is ideal. They are just few blocks away from the Kodak Theater and the Hollywood Wax Museum, while other popular tourist destinations are also accessible through the subway system. Their room rates are really affordable as well. They also serve a continental breakfast and they provide a variety of free snacks to all their guests. Yummy! After a busy walk, I enjoyed my free DVD and the complimentary apple cider - that completed my evening! The service was good and prompt; and the staff were very courteous and helpful. Great customer service, I've experienced LA hospitality at its best!

Came here for one of my birfdayys and had an amazin timee. I stayed here with my girlfriends and we had champaign and dinner in the rooom. There is cucumber water and apples in the front desk. After you check in, they offer you apple cider in champaign flutes.
We stayed here for one night and had brunch at the Magic Castle the next morning. it costs 15 dollars per person to enter, and i think 30 dollars per person to have brunch. Foood was amazing as welll. They had omelletes, bagel and salmon, pancakes, salad, etc. A person dressed up as a wizard put on a happy birthday show for me and served me dessert. After finishing up our brunch, we watched some magic shows. The magic shows were'nt PHENOMENAL, but they were very classic and interesting.
We then went back to our rooms to go swimming in the magic castle hotel pool.
The architecture of the entire place looks like it can be or was built to be an apartment because it's so cozy, and there is a garage that opens with a remote control. The rooms look like apartment rooms, they have a full kitchen, living room, bathroom, and a single room. The price per night is reasonable for the quality of service you get.
I would recommend this place to visitors and people who are in LA to sightsee. It is just minutes away from Hollywood and Highland, which is a great place to walk around and sightsee, shop, or eat.
I had a lot of fun here just because of the company I had, and was satisfied with the service. I think I expected a little too much from the Magic Castle magic shows. But the buffet was really gooood.

Wow...after reading all the reviews...I am wondering if I am at the same hotel......

As of today, 8/10/07, this hotel appears to be completely remodeled.  I have been told by the front desk that all rooms are remodeled.   What gives this place 5 stars is the spaciousness and appointments in the rooms.   These rooms have the space of a luxury condo. you could easily hold a party of 10-15 in one of these rooms.....ummm but I don't think the management would like that...unless they were all staying at different rooms of the hotel.

Staff gets 5 stars...more if there were more stars available.   Extremely friendly, attentive and knowledgeable.   They all clearly enjoy working here.

Only downside here ..so far as I can tell..are the tables...they look like an IKEA showroom...but the tables are very unstable...DONT STAND ON THEM...They shake with the sligthest of movements.

Overall...a very nice place to stay.

Front desk told me to that the single rooms...are much smaller in size and are cramped.   The way to go here is to spend a little extra for the one bedroom suite.

Staying here gets you into the Magic Castle dinner and show.   That is why I am here!!!   I should add you still need to pay the $20 cover and pay for dinner...which isnt that great.   But it's all about the magic there...

We just stayed at the MC Hotel last week.

    Pros:
Service was excellent, amenities were tops, secured parking was a deal, the continental breakfast was good and the pool was wonderful.

    Cons:
Our room looked as if it had been cheaply remodeled about 5-7 years ago. It currently looks as if very young children had since caulked and painted it (in industrial beige tones). There were mold stains on the bathroom floor and one of the window screens was torn. The soap dish in the tub was disgusting looking. The kitchen had plastic dishes and rust-stained silverware. The furniture was worn and tired.

    Conclusion:
The owners of up this hotel need to step up and redo the rooms. The gardeners were working hard trimming shrubbery and planting flowering plants. This was in a futile attempt to distract from the large flakes of paint falling off the concrete planters. The poor staff is doing all they can to get repeat business but their efforts are being completely undermined by the cheapness of the hotel's owner(s).

We would only recommend the Magic Castle Hotel if the rooms and grounds were remodeled to match the level of service provided by the staff.

Truly the most helpful and friendly staff I have encountered, and I have been to the best and worst places you can pay to stay, Palace Hotel, Fairmont, Motel 6 in Bakersfield. So I have a pretty good gauge of what I like and what I don't. They overbooked so instead of an excuse and a sorry they gave me an upgrade to a one bedroom with a patio right in front. This place was bigger than our apartment in SF. Old Hollywood apartment charm decorated modern and tasteful. Biggest bonus, FULL KITCHEN with a full size refrigerator. We packed that full of champagne for the weekend and extra ice for the bucket. This is a great place and location with the nicest staff and over the top for value for the money. This is my place in Hollywood from here on out.

    This place is really special.

I won't say its the most visually appealing when you walk in. But hey, its a converted apartment building. Importantly, they've done nice things in the rooms, which are as comfortable as any hotel you've stayed in.

But what sets this place apart is 3 things:

1 - Location, location, location: you're a block from Hollywood Blvd and the Chinese theater.

2 - Your stay at the Magic Castle Hotel gets you entrance to the members only magic club next door, which is a fantastic way to spend an evening.

3 - They know how to treat guests. The front desk has a long list of DVDs and free snacks and drinks, wifi and parking are free.

Whoever's in charge here could teach a lot of other hotels a thing or two.

One word describes this place:  Awesome.

The room was well appointed with everything you could ask for in a home away from home:  Kitchen, iron and ironing board, dishes, robes, etc.  The front desk staff was as helpful as possible and provided shuttle to the Magic Castle despite it being just a short walk away.  The complimentary snacks available at all times was a treat for late night cravings and the turndown service with mints and a card stating tomorrow's weather was a nice touch.  The price was exactly what I would expect to pay for what I got, so I felt the value was there as well.

We utilized the hotel as a means into the Magic Castle club, and as such we were out late, and therefore didn't try the continental breakfast.  However, it was great to see it open late--even at 11am for those checking out last minute.

I have not one bad thing to say about the great Magic Castle hotel and its partner club next door.  Definitely a great place to stay in LA!

Magical things happen at the Magic Castle Hotel I tell you...

Free snacks on demand--yes, they have a pretty extensive "Snack List Menu," including but not limited to: pretzels, chips, full size candy bars, soda, lemonade, ginger ale.  Oh, and did I mention F R E E?  Anytime?

Free movies--yes, I said, "free" again!  They offer a list of DVDs available for check out to watch in the convenience of your suite's wall-mounted flat screen TV.  Not only that, but they categorize the list for easy pickin'.  (They are so thoughtful.)

    Surprise surprise...

Bottle of chilled champagne and cider + box of chocolates delivered to our room upon check-in.  "Compliments of the Hotel..."  SWEET way to start the new year!  (We checked in on 12/31/11 so forget I mentioned this and be thankfully surprised if you happen to get free bottle service.)  ;)

What more could be delivered to our room?  A hand full of goodies for the kids.  Kids happy = parents happy.

Free popsicles at the pool.  But not just any pool, a pool that's heated 84 degrees and is open 24-7 (so long as you keep the noise level down come night fall).

BTW, microwave, WIC, stove, full fridge, and FREE wifi all inclusive!

If you're looking for a place to stay in LA--or Hollywood specifically--don't miss out on unparalleled customer service and small touches that make your stay a magical experience not to be forgotten.

P.S.  To my fellow Asian food lovers, Korea Town is only a 10-min. drive away.  Don't want to leave the Magic Castle Hotel?  I don't blame you (we wanted to move in ourselves), call Sunset Thai for amazing Thai food delivery.  =)

    Great Hotel!

I would recommend this Hotel to anyone staying in fabulous Hollywood. I've stayed here quiet a few times and each time I am very satisfied with this Hotel and it's amenities. It is clean, fun, and minutes from heart throbbing clubs, bars, and great entertainment.

I stayed here this past weekend and stumbled upon CAREN SOLIS at the concierge. She was very down to earth, and was what LA is all about. She was super nice, cool, and knew her stuff. Thanks Caren...hope to run into you again soon! (Hope she reads this).

I stayed here on a recent trip to LA, and though I was only in town for one night, I wish I could've stayed longer just because this hotel was awesome! From the moment we walked in, everything was perfect.

The hotel is located very close to all the Hollywood sights, so you can walk there (even though no one in LA walks anywhere).

The staff went above and beyond so many times. We were greeted with glasses of a special lemonade upon check-in. While my boyfriend and I were enjoying the amazing pool, a staff member came by with a tray of popsicles for us to choose from. The hotel offers free snacks and a library of DVDs for no charge.

I contemplated giving this hotel 4 stars because the rooms are a little bit outdated, but the service was so good that it won back the fifth star. And speaking of the rooms, they're HUGE! They're the size of a large one bedroom apartment, which is great if you're planning on staying for a while or have a lot of people. Plus, the hotel looks like Melrose Place with all the rooms in a rectangle around a central pool. So LA.

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone taking a trip to LA, and can't wait to come back!

First off, this is NOT the place to take a girlfriend/wife if you're trying to be romantic because the single rooms look like a college dorm room.  However, if you coming with someone to have fun and sight see in Hollywood and want a very clean room with top notch customer service then this is your place.

The customer service is excellent.  They help you with anything you need and gives you a quick tour explaining the place after the hotel manager greets you and serves you this sparkling lemonade drink which was delicious.  They have 24 hour snacks and drinks for FREE (yes, free, not just a hotel myth, my friend) and it is unlimited (yes, unlimited).  The rooms were private and we loved the underground, secured garage.

The location is unbeatable.  You are two blocks away from the stars on Hollywood Blvd.  I could probably spit from the window on it... not that I would.  Um, anyway, great place.  I'm definitely coming back to check out the Magic Castle Club next time I stay.

My husband and I had a FANTASTIC stay here.  The staff is extremely polite and professional, we were offered sparkling juice upon check-in, and were upgraded to a suite for free!  The prices are very reasonable, especially considering its location.  It is a VERY short walk to the Hollywood Walk of Fame so it is great for tourists or anyone else who doesn't want to pay an arm and a leg for parking to view the Walk of Fame.  The continental breakfast was very good and the hotel provides free drinks and snacks, delivered to your room, any time of day with no limit.  The rooms seem a little outdated, but I didn't go to Hollywood to see a pretty room, I went to enjoy myself out in the city.  The room was spacious and comfortable, and that's all that matters to me!

Looking for a place near Hollywood and Highland? Want the best customer service you've ever experienced in a hotel? Are you looking for unlimited snacks, for free? Welcome to the Magic Castle Hotel!

We stayed here last year as part of our honeymoon trip, and while it's not a romantic hotel, we were heading off to Jamaica as well, so we didn't really care. It's a short walk from the Hollywood/Highland complex, which  allows you to take in the sights there, and also hop aboard the subway if you want to head to Universal Studios. They have FREE on-site parking, continental breakfast, and a list of FREE snacks you can get from the main office (chocolate bars, microwave popcorn, various soft drinks, it's like a free 7-11). The staff are wonderful, and we'd definitely stay here again (I've also recommended it to friends, and they've enjoyed it).

We were upgraded for free upon arrival, which was fantastic. If we had been in a standard room, I would have been severely angry about the price. The staff was super sweet and very helpful. Free snacks at the check-in counter whenever you want and free secure parking. The room (suite) was very large and included a kitchenette and full living room but was literally wrapped around another room so I felt like we has guests the entire time. Again, had we been in the mini (standard) room, I don't think it would have been worth the price at all. Our suite had a bit of a stale smell, unfortunately. You may notice I'm flip-flopping here. It wasn't a negative experience but it wasn't ideal. I would stay again but would opt for a different suite or a larger standard room. The location is amazing if you want to explore Hollywood and [insert best adjective you know] if you're going to the Magic Castle. They have a free shuttle service to and from the Magic Castle, which is epic if you're wearing heels because the Castle lives at the top of a very steep hill.

Don't let the front fool you.  This is one great place to stay.  Once you get into the reception area and are offered a complimentary lemonade (in the summer time) you just can't help but notice how nice the staff is and it never changes.  This is an old Hollywood apartment complex converted to a hotel and you feel like you are back in the 50's  and expect to see some up and coming movie stars staying there.  Yes, there are freeeeeee snacks.  Decent continental breakfast, enjoy having it by the pool. Close location to all the Hollywood stuff.  Best tip from the staff, have dinner at the Yamishro's farmers market if your there on Thursday.  Awesome food trucks and samples from vendors.  Even saw 2 celebs.  Hotel is a little worn, but at this price point and with the friendliness of the staff, you won't notice.

This place is so loud! We stayed in 2 different rooms, and had noise problems with both. If it's not coming from the courtyard or the street, it's coming from a neighboring room. Definitely bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. On the plus side, the ataff is friendly and helpful and the rooms are very spacious.

I'm really glad we found this hotel through Trip Adviser. Our check in process was smooth and extremely friendly and helpful. We even received a room upgrade to one of the suites, which is basically an apartment. The hotel shines at what is most important. The room was clean, quiet, private, with a very comfortable bed and I appreciated the bathroom's mirrors and lighting. It was nice to have secured parking come with the room, breakfast, snacks and sodas, and a great location within walking distance to a lot of sights. The place has a few minor things like scuffs on walls, an uneven floor in our bathroom and maybe not upscale decor, but in the end it was all we could have asked for. I would definitely stay here again.

This is a superb hotel which I highly recommend. I have stayed here on two separate occasions, the first about eight years ago and the second just recently. It is the hotel I would first call if I were to visit LA again, for several reasons.

First, the location is excellent, especially for people (like me) who travel without a car. It is a very short walk from all the main Hollywood attractions and also a public transit hub from which one can access other attractions across town. (The front desk will provide you on request with a document showing major attractions and directions on getting to them by public transit.)

Second, the level of service is exceptional. Everybody I dealt with at the desk, from check-in to check-out, went out of their way to be helpful and friendly.

Third, the hotel does not nickel-and-dime you as so many big expensive hotels do. Throughout the day you can get complimentary snacks and soft drinks at the front desk by simply requesting some, and there is free wi-fi throughout the hotel. (Every now and then I would experience some mild difficulty getting connected to the wi-fi, but these problems were sporadic and temporary.) There are no public computers but if you need a boarding pass printed, the front desk will do it for you (again, no charge). There is also a complimentary breakfast every morning that is catered by some fancy bakery: good scones (although I sometimes had trouble telling the raisin ones from the chocolate chip ones!), croissants that I thought were almost European-quality, and tasty mini-muffins, as well as regular toast, cereal, fresh fruit, yoghurt, and the usual hot and cold beverages (juice, coffee, hot cocoa, hot apple cider, etc.).

The room my daughter and I stayed in was a one-bedroom suite, which had not only a bedroom with two comfortable beds but also a large living room and kitchen area with refrigerator, microwave, oven, and cutlery. It was kept very clean. The price was a bit more than 200 dollars a night, which seemed reasonable given the central Hollywood location. Guests at the hotel also can attend a show at the Magic Castle which I'm told is very nice, but I didn't pack a jacket and tie on this trip and so we skipped that. We also didn't take advantage of the heated outdoor pool around which the hotel is built, but it looked nice.

I can't praise this hotel enough. If you're coming to LA, give them a call.

This hotel is wonderful. The staff is incredibly friendly, helpful, and attentive. The rooms are huge (pretty sure it used to be an apartment complex), attractive, and comfortable. This review is LONG overdue for a terrific place I consider a second home.

The Magic Castle Hotel is one of the best kept secrets in Hollywood and a wonderful example of how a hotel SHOULD be run.

As others have mentioned here, the suites are simple and functional - don't expect the Ritz - but it's the little touches (free snacks and soft drinks, free wi-fi, plush towels and robes, elegant and uber-comfortable bedding) and incredible customer service (where else can you get poolside delivery of popsicles on a hot day?) that keep people coming back again and again...myself included.

Being a proud member of The Magic Castle, I also appreciate the fact that it is only one hundred and eleven footsteps from the Castle bar to my regular room at the Hotel, give or take a few stumbles (they pour HEAVY at the Castle!).

You want to know how much I love this place? Even when I'm on an expense account with unlimited $$$ to spend on accommodations, I STILL come to the Magic Castle Hotel.

(Full disclosure: I've been a hotel regular for quite a few years now and consider many of the team to be part of my much-loved extended Hollywood family, so I might be a trifle biased in my comments. But read the other reviews on this site -- they'll back me up!)

    HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

what you'll see from franklin ave - is the magic castle CLUB. they share the same driveway as the HOTEL - the hotel is WEST of the club. (there's a small 24hr heated pool there).

if you want a balcony - you need to book the rooms in the hollywood hills location which is situated 200ft BEHIND the hotel. up sycamore. also, a pool. though not heated/24hrs.

    check in is 3pm.
checked in at 4pm due to advise from yelpers.
got in room at 4.30pm... that's a 1 star. (they did bring me a bottle of wine for that).

the staff are tremendous!!! friendly, warm, welcoming, professional. 10 stars.

yes, i did climb some stairs to get to my room. not many. but they can help if you have a lot of luggage.

inside the room: everything is clean. the carpet is somewhat clean. very basic. the empty fridge does sing from time to time and so does the toilet. walls are thin. lol. also: no fan in bathroom, but slatted windows. and when flushing: press down and HOLD HOLD HOLD. yes - one of them.

snacks/drinks can be delivered here for $1. so get your snacks when you are checking in. snacks/drinks are free. delivery to the hills isn't. WATER is $4. there's no restaurant area. breakfast is continental. and they do shuttle you back and forth if need be. there is parking.

the internet wasn't working. and neither was my ipod. so i SAGED the room and wallah! now internet and ipod are working. who knows.

for $134pn. it's not bad. the staff make an incredible EFFORT and they make your stay really worth while.

I'm not a snob. I've stayed in roach motels and high class joints both here and abroad. I have to say this is my absolute favorite hotel of all time.

It's usually pretty pricey, but my boyfriend got a good deal through Expedia and it ended up being more reasonable than the big chain hotels around town.

When we arrived last year for the first leg of our stay in Hollywood, we walked into the courtyard of the hotel, and I felt like we'd stepped into a scene from a film noir. The architecture was amazing!

Our first room was a ground floor bungalow located next to the service desk, and to our surprise it was very quiet. It was beautiful with a kitchenette, dining room, cushy bed and sofa, and a balcony overlooking the park where I enjoyed a morning cup of coffee. Perks included free wi-fi, 24 hour snacks from the front desk, and a continental breakfast in the morning.

The second leg of our California vacation, we stayed in an upstairs bungalow overlooking the heated pool. Loved it! The look of the courtyard and pool at night was, dare I say magical.

In addition to the decor, perks, and architecture, the staff was amazing. They were friendly, helpful, and I know I've said this before, but you could tell they really enjoyed what they do.

I look forward to a return stay.

This is what customer service is suppose to be. While the room had some nicks in the paint and some minor cosmetic issues, including an incredibly loud refrigerator, the customer service and general ambiance of the place is what I yearn for.  I will be coming back here. The location is incredible, and, again, I cannot stress that I never felt any sort of condescension from the staff. They were genuinely pleasant. I've stayed in many upscale hotels from London to LA, but I would trade them all for being treated as a valued guest.

    The service is fantastic.
The Magic Castle is next door!
Don't drive home, just stay over.

I've stayed here 3 times when visiting the Magic Castle (twice at the Magic  Castle Hotel, once at the Hollywood Hills Hotel, a cheaper, lesser-known, older section you can book through the Magic Castle Hotel).

The service is wonderful! Friendly and accommodating!
The large suites (with living area and kitchen) would be great for long visits to the Hollywood area.
The pool and continental breakfasts are just added amenities to your visit to the Magic Castle (which is really why you should be here-see my next review).

Had the pleasure of doing a photo shoot here (part-time model that I am, *hair toss*).  No, it ain't *the* Magic Castle, but this place rocks all by i's own self.

So I've heard it used to be an apartment complex.  Believable: the rooms are quite lush and amply-sized for a hotel.  The one I occupied came complete with full kitchen, bay windows, a roomy TV area, and a hallway leading back to the bedroom, itself with a huge fluffy jump-on-this-bed.  Everything (I think?) has been renovated, so it was quite a luxurious experience for a lower(ish) cost.

Cute pool area in the middle of the complex, and a nice Cali-style continental breakfast in the morn' (just don't sleep in, and trust, you're gonna wanna).

Warning: Do NOT park in tenant parking next door!  I know a 42-point turn sounds funny in retrospect, but it most certainly was not at the time.

complimentary breakfast each morning, free wifi, FREE minibar items at any time, even 3AM, 24-hour heated pool, FREE movie selection, bed turn down service

there was absolutely nothing to complain about here!

From the moment we pulled in to the hotel, we were wooed and wowed.  My wife and I were traveling with my sister-in-law and her two young children.  When we made the reservation, we mentioned we had an infant.

The hotel room was wonderful -- simple but clean.  The staff had put a crib with bath toys and baby soap in the bedroom and turned up the heat -- a sweet, thoughtful gesture that totally charmed us!

Like everyone else has said, the staff and service are amazing.  Bend-over-backwards accommodating.  I'll be honest, I was apprehensive about some Hollywood/LA snootiness -- not here.  Everyone was friendly and personable -- and clearly liked kids.  From the never-ending snacks and drinks to the DVDs, the heated pool, the amazing breakfast, and delivery recommendations, this place was custom-made for family travel.  It was a relief to come back after a day of sight seeing to collapse in the pool after noshing on snacks.

    Can I move in?

I do a lot of traveling. So I have spent time in some really nice hotels and some real bad hotels. My impression is that these are generally a place to sleep between events you have planned out. Generally, I need a comfortable bed, good temperature control, a functional bathroom, and a place to relax a bit.

This hotel meets the criteria. It is not fancy, but it is clean. It is not new; rather it's more like you were staying at the home of your middle-classed relatives while they were away. You know what, make that lower middle classed relatives. Still, I had two large rooms, a kitchen, living room with leather sofa, a dining room, two queen beds, a nice shower, a large balcony overlooking Hollywood. I mean, it was everything I could have wanted.

Plus, you get admission to the Magic Castle to see the magic shows and have a nice dinner, so long as you are staying at the hotel. How great is that? Yeah, "pretty great" is the correct answer.

But, what makes it is the staff. They came up to my room (I had a room on the hill top at the back of the property) to shuttle me down to the complimentary breakfast, to drive me to the Club for dinner, any time. They got my boarding pass, FedEx'd my computer cables which I left behind when I checked out at 4 am to catch my flight, and in general were incredibly pleasant and helpful and smiling. Helpful, friendly, competent service as good as I have ever experienced. Worth every penny!

My bf knew I've been wanting to go to the magic castle and we didnt know any magicians so our only entrance was by this hotel. We booked a room for my bday weekend and was one step closer to getting into the magic castle! Yes that's right if u book a room they will make a reservation for u at the castle!!! Upon check in we got a Sparkling lemonade toast, it was a cute touch. But what made me give this hotel 5 stars is ..once we opened the door to our room there's was a birthday cake from susina bakery, balloons and a note from the hotel that read "happy birthday"! How effen cool is that! The rooms are average/clean nothing fancy but I didn't care..,I'm not in Vegas! Im only here to get my foot in the doors of the MC. They offer continental breakfast, free snacks and sodas all night long! Everyone at the hotel was so nice and accommodating! I'd come back again in a heart beat ;)

Stayed there on our first anniversary. We mentioned this upon arrival, and we got a free bottle of champagne delivered to our room - a thoughtful gesture! They also comped our parking.

They have a free snack bar in the lobby where you can request different types of snacks, chocolate etc. When I asked them if they had any white cheddar popcorn, they say they didn't, but know what: 15 minutes later they came to our door with a bag, in which they had gone put and bought just for me! That is what I call service!

Rooms were nice, affordable and clean. Could not have found a better place to stay in LA!

Great service, clean room and free snacks! It was nice to get away for a night and enjoy the "Hollywood" scene. Our one-bedroom suite was recently renovated so it had hip touches of decor... It was huge! Basically an apartment unit converted into a hotel room... with a full kitchen!
Definitely recommend this hotel for anyone who is visiting Hollywood.

Boutique hotel with motel aesthetics. It actually feels like an older apartment complex converted into a motel. We booked a suite which included a living room, kitchen, bedroom and bath. The only reason why I decided to stay here instead of another hotel is to have access to the Magic Castle. You have to be a member or be invited by a member to get into the Castle and I don't fit into either. Spent $200 on the room, $50 for two show tickets and $100 for dinner. Drinks not included. I wouldn't recommend this hotel unless you are in a similar situation and want access to the castle. The Magic Castle is very worth it!! You have to check it out at least once. I'll post a separate review of the Magic Castle.

The hotel does have great customer service, very courteous and cordial. They also offered to drive us to and from the castle (I gladly accepted considering the 4 inch stilts I was working with. You'll appreciate this if you wear any pain inducing but sexy footwear). Another cool thing about the hotel is they offer free snacks, drinks and DVD rentals at the front desk upon request.

Parking is an adventure. Ever done an 18 point turn? You will in their parking garage even if you don't drive a gas guzzling beast.

Magic Castle Hotel NEVER disappoints! The staff is awesome; friendly greeting and accomdating every request with a smile.
The size of the one-bedroom suites are HUGE! It's a perfect home away from home.
I love the hot apple cider and cookies in the lobby when checking in. They even bring you a glass of sparkling lemonade.
The never-ending snacks are great! (Think of every candy bar, soda pop, and chip you can imagine.) They also have DVDs for free to watch in the room; Movie Night- microwave popcorn and all! =)
The continental breakfast is plentiful as well; pastries, toast, fruit, cereal, yogurt, granola, coffee, teas, cocoa, cider, juices.... this place is the best!
I cannot say enough great things about this Hollywood gem! Stay here and you'll see why! Thanks Magic Castle!! I lurve you.

My wife and I stayed here recently and found the staff very nice and courteous. The building is worn, well maintained. We had all the amenities of newer hotels and more. One night my wife misplaced her wallet which caused me to accuse the maid of lifting it. I was very angry and rude, but the staff maintained their demeanor and remained very polite and concerned. My wife soon found her wallet and apologized. The hotel staff and management never mentioned it again. We would definitely stay there the next time we stay in LA.

We loved this place! A couple blocks from Hollywood Blvd, but at the hotel, you are in your own world. Girls at the front desk were super friendly and helpful. they also offer free snacks and drinks which is unheard of nowadays. We had a 1 bdrm, and it was like a small apt. there were pics of the 50' and 60's on the walls, which my husband loved (We went there for his birthday). The best part, is that by staying here, you can go to the Magic Castle. I have been wanting to go here for years, but did not know either a magician or a member. Boy, what a great dinner we had and the shows were incredible. Felt like I was in old time Hollywood for a night. Can't talk highly enough about this place. Thanks, Magic Castle Hotel/Magic Castle for helping to make it one special birthday!

Concur with others on the service. We took our kids, originally to get into the brunch and shows at the Magic Castle, but we would come back again just for the hotel. It's a slice of old Hollywood cabana. Kid friendly, teeny pool, those annoying foam noodles to float on. Very walkable from Grauman's and such. Kitchenette! Yes, the fridge sang, but the parking was free and did I mention the Magic Castle?

It's old. So am I. You want shiny swanky, go somewhere else. You want to pretend you've moved to the left coast to work on your screenplay? This is your place.

The Magic Castle Hotel was exactly as the reviews state - what you read is what you get.  It was a very pleasant oasis just a block off Hollywood Blvd.  Excellent location.  The pool and patio are wonderful for relaxing.  The wi-fi option was good too, though spotty here and there.  The front desk staff and other staff were very pleasant and provided free snacks whenever I wanted them.  The suites were enormous and comfortable, though as other reviews state, the decor is modest for sure.

I really liked the option of getting a dinner reservation at The Magic Castle next door for staying there.  However, the "awesome" free breakfast they brag about in the lobby is not so awesome.  Only cold pastries (not even bagels), cereal and toast.  I had a better one the night before at a hotel near the airport.

While finding the location was easy, beware that Google Maps takes you to the wrong end of Franklin Avenue.  And, it is a bit tricky to find the front door of the hotel to check in.

Lastly, I guess it was not very apparently to me that there was an $11/day parking fee per car.  Great to have parking but a surprise on the fee.

Otherwise, it is a really neat place to stay.

I knew the place had a great location. What I did not expect was how friendly and helpful the staff would be. I'm not talking about pretend friendliness of the robot variety that you get at chain hotels. They really seemed happy to be there and excited to be part of something great. The room was clean and huge, the free snacks were a hit with my kids, the pool was great, and the scones at breakfast were the best I've ever had. I can't wait to return!

I cannot say enough good things about this hotel and the staff! We stayed for three nights and wish we could have stayed longer.  Monica practically planned our stay in LA coordinating the LA City Tour, our rental car and even transportation to and from the airport.  When we arrived Marcus and Zee greeted us with a lemonade toast. There were also several goodies in our room  when we arrived including Magic Castle totes, snacks and even a cold Mission Bay beer for my husband.
The courtyard and pool are beautiful and the 24 hour availability of snacks and beverages was a lifesaver. The Magic Castle was one of the highlights of an amazing trip.  I will never stay anywhere else in LA.  By the time we left, we felt like we were family.

Great place to stay (only place to stay if you are not a member but want to visit the Magic Castle) .  I looks like the hotel was a apartment building at one point but the place was nicely transformed into the hotel.  Staff was nothing but friendly and you get free all you can eat snacks and drinks (full sized candy bars and sodas and other snacks not just cheep stuff) and yes it was all you can eat! Don't expect luxury but do expect a fun time!

Okay, so, we stayed at the Hollywood Hills Hotel, which is a gated area around the corner and up the mountain from the Magic Castle Hotel; though, its still part of, and you check in, at the Magic Castle Hotel.

The rooms were significantly less per night and I actually thought the view would be better... a million dollar view of the city and Hollywood Hills!  It was way better than expected.  In fact, the size of the room was also way better than expected.  It was huge!  It was an apartment with a walk-in closet, kitchenette and full fridge!

And better yet, I'd say that this was the best experience I've ever had staying at a hotel overall, and mostly due to the service!  At check-in, we were given a Halloween bag full of candy and pop that we had circled from a list.  We met all of the staff and found they were so genuinely friendly and helpful.  They even made our dinner reservations at the Magic Castle and scheduled our tour with Archer Tours (which I highly highly recommend and will have its own review).  A late check-out due to a long tour was no problem at all.

I will never stay anywhere else and really look forward to my return!

I might not suggest to dine here, but the entertainment is loads of fun. You have the ability to walk from room to room and see different acts. My favorites are the more intimate card dealings. That slight I hand will drive you nuts. Bring a crowd because its worth a few drinks and some fun. Last I was there I saw the "card father". He was pretty incredible.

We stayed here for a one night stay with our motley crew (2 adults, 2  rapscallions). The one-bedroom suite was very spacious and provided us with all the conveniences of home with the added value of: FREE SNACKS. Yes, the reviews are true. Your 6 year old can walk up to the front desk and request M&Ms or a Snickers bar whenever she wants. Also within walking distance to Chinese theatre and all those creepy guys in the ripped and torn superhero costumes. Meth-head Superman, anyone?

Service was top notch and very personal; location was prime; parking very reasonable ($11) and plentiful. We will definitely be staying here again!

Where do I start? The service here is amazing! My boyfriend and I spent a night here so that I could have a birthday dinner at the Magic Castle. He arranged with the staff in advance to have a birthday cake, balloons and wine waiting in the room so that when we opened the door I would be surprised. I loved it!

The room was spacious and clean. We had a decent sized living room that adjoined the bedroom. Upon opening the sliding glass door to the balcony I had a great view of the city. The bathroom could use some remodeling, but was perfectly clean.

Besides being reasonably priced, you can get free drinks (soda, water), and snacks from the lobby. Score! You can also rent movies for free from the lobby as well. I didn't have time to take advantage of the pool, but the pool had another great view of the city and was tranquil. I will definitely be back.

holy toledo, i don't know where these people all stayed, but it certainly wasn't the hotel i was at.

room was dirty.  carpet was old and threadbare and the room smelled musty like it had been locked up for months.  shabby mismatched furniture looked like it had been collected from various grandmother garage sales.  bed was insanely springy and bouncy.  kitchen was neglected, the refrigerator could have used a good cleaning.  i was afraid to inspect the cupboards.

desk is staffed by kids who are cheerful but that oblivious kind of cheerful.  i got out of the shower to find the gardener staring in through the bedroom window.  i complained to the front desk and she said she would talk to him about it.  thanks.  i also called about kids screaming in the pool at 7:30 in the morning.  she said no problem, which i didn't understand because it was a problem, a problem that didn't get fixed.  when i recapped all this at check-out, she looked at me like i was speaking a foreign language, which it possibly was to her, and said sorry you didn't enjoy your stay.  thanks.

fellow guests aren't much help either.  they tend to let the big heavy doors slam going in and out of the rooms and apparently believe nobody can hear them yapping from the halls and balconies or their kids screaming outside.

if you need or enjoy elevators, good luck here.

parking seems to be not as easy as it should be.  the driveway in front is a tight course and the garage parking under the building leaves little room for error or humvees.

there could be worse hotels in the area but not many.

Yelp you did not steer me wrong in my choice at staying at Magic Castle Hotel for my stay in LA for a weekend.

I stayed there during Carmeggedon weekend July 15-18 because I was going to a friend's wedding in Burbank and was planning on going out in Hollywood so wanted to stay in that proximity.

Everything that wasn't janky was a tad bit pricy so staying here for about $160 a night fit the bill.

    The Pros:
    - Greeted me nicely when I checked in giving us non alcoholic bubbly
    - Gated free parking- one spot per room
    - FREE SNACK MINI BAR- literally you can call at whatever hour and get chips, skittles, ginger ale etc
    - Free Movie Library- not super new movies but was able to watch Up In The Air that I've been wanting to catch
    - 24 hour heated pool
    - Safe in the room
    - Bathrobes to use for 2 people
    - Mini Fridge
    - Wall to Wall mirror
    - Complimentary breakfast with cereal, fresh OJ, apple juice, fruits, pastries
    - iPod alarm clock radio
    - Free LA Times in the morning
    - Free no password wifi

    The Cons:
    - Thin walls- we were definitely sharing a wall with someone and we heard everything.. as they probably heard us too
    - Bathrooms are pretty small
    - The night stand next to our bed usually has drawers for convenience but they were chests instead? Kind of odd

Everyone was REALLY nice and I would def not mind staying here again.  The room are a tad bit dated but they definitely try really hard to make up for it with great service.

Magic Castle is a place of pampering. We only stayed here for about 24 hours but we enjoyed every minute of it. The staff was exceptional and friendly and made you feel welcome from the minute you stepped in the lobby by greeting us with a glass of refreshing sparkling lemonade. The place offers free snacks/sodas ( about 30 to choose from). My husband and I got Cokes, sour patch kids, and a rice krispy treat. Delicious!!
The beds are cozy and the suite is EXTREMELY SPACIOUS. The breakfast in the morning was good ESPECIALLY THE COFFEE, which is almost unheard of for continental breakfasts.
I tried the gym this morning and it was awesome. The staff at the Castle even arranged for a cab driver to pick us up and take us to the airport. The cab driver was named Mike and he was great just like the staff. He arrived early, helped us with our bags, and told really great stories.
Thank you Magic Castle for making us feel like true Hollywood Stars.

Located just below the illusionists' club that shares its name and one block from Grauman's Chinese Theater, this former garden apartment complex offers spacious but somewhat modestly and sparsely-furnished studio, one-, and two-bedroom accommodations with fully-equipped kitchens that are ideal for families on a budget. The units are situated around a nicely-landscaped courtyard with a large heated pool. Nightly turndown service is as luxurious as it gets; those who prefer to be pampered should stay elsewhere. Rates, ranging from $149-239.00, include continental breakfast, but self-parking annoyingly is $8 additional per day.

Booked a room here when I went to visit my fiance's family and couldn't of been happier with my stay!

The hotel location is awesome! It's within walking distance of alot of tourist spots. They had parking under the hotel which was convenient. I loved that our room had a kitchen with a table and large fridge. We got to go to the magic castle just because we stayed here and didn't have to be a member which was really cool. Military get's into the castle for free wish I would of known that but I still would of stayed at the hotel it was that great. Staff was friendly and I loved my stay here I would suggest this place to anyone! It's family friendly but I wasn't over run by little kids. We got to have a nice little night away from home, a nice dinner, and a great magic show to cap the night off!

Customer service was great! We stayed here for my birthday in a one bedroom suite since we were visiting the magic castle next door that night. We were greeted with sparkling lemonade, Kevin at the front desk was very nice, and CUTE. Lol. They had a card and a cute birthday cake in the room for me, and free snacks all day and night. The room was spacious and can EASILY fit 6 people, 8, if people are down to sleep on the floor, so it was plenty of space for just the two of us. There was a cute little balcony with an awesome view of L.A. bums sleeping under trees, and literally a two minute walk to the magic castle next door. 5 stars for the service and the overall vibe of the place.

Wow.  Spent 3 nights here on a family trip to Hollywood.  Location is perfect for action on Hollywood blvd.  Short driving distance to Universal Studios, Griffith Park & Observatory, Beverly Hills, Rodeo, etc.
Free Snack and DVD list was a huge hit for the kids (and Mom and Dad).  All of the staff were incredibly friendly and we even had 3 days worth of laundry done with the only request being that we tipped the cleaning staff.  While the rooms are certainly dated, it's all part of the experience and this place would be hard to beat for the value and all things considered for a family of 4 or 5.  I highly recommend this Hotel and would stay here again.

I don't think I could find a better place to stay in LA than the Magic Castle Hotel, and here's why:

    1)  Decent, clean, AFFORDABLE rooms.

My mom and I shared a one-bedroom suite which was the size of a roomy one-bedroom apartment.  Kitchen, dining area, large living room, bedroom with two closets, bathroom and a balcony.  Price?  $207/night for the middle of vacation season.  Nothing luxurious about it, but scrupulously clean and well maintained.  If you're looking for a 5-star hotel bed, though, this isn't going to meet your expectations.  It was comfortable and clean, but not the orgy of white linen, duvets and pillow-tops that most upscale hotels have nowadays.

    2)  Location, location, OMG location.

The hotel is in the heart of Hollywood.  You're one block from the Chinese Theatre.  More importantly, you're three blocks from the Hollywood/Highland subway station.  Finally, it was a 20-minute WALK from the hotel to the Hollywood Bowl.  Do NOT underestimate how amazing that is.  My mom and I went to see a nighttime concert at the Bowl, and I'd be willing to bet that we were back in our hotel room and getting ready for bed before most of the rest of the audience had left the parking lot.  Not even kidding.

Also, in spite of being so close to tourist central, the hotel has a deliciously quiet, low-key vibe to it.  Not a speck of traffic noise to keep us awake at night.

    3)  The Phenomenal Staff

I've stayed at 5-star hotels before, and NEVER have I experienced a hotel staff this good.  Friendly without being chatty.  Never stuffy or condescending.  Unbelievably accommodating.  No question was stupid.  No request was impossible.  Free snacks and soda whenever you ask.  Did you hear that?  Free.  Snacks and soda.  Whenever.  Like at 4 am.  Also free DVDs from a huge list of movies.  Take a seat by the lovely (albeit small) pool, and suddenly a staff member materializes at your side, offering you popsicles.  For free.

    4)  The Magic Castle

Your room at the hotel gets you access to the Magic Castle supper club.  Do yourself a favor; make a reservation for dinner, and invite some of your local friends who will gratefully snap up the invitation.  The Magic Castle is a wacky place that many Angelinos know of, but have never been to because it's members only.  So on top of everything else, you get that LA-exclusive-access-velvet-rope experience as well!  Pretty darn cool.

Whether it was advice on the local go to places or the free snacks and laundry, they provided 110%. Highly recommend staying here, it's only a 2 minute walk from Hollywood Boulevard and extremely close to the subway station which can take you to Universal Studios or the Staples Stadium if you're a sports nut. Very pleased with our stay at The Magic Castle Hotel. A 6 minute walk to the Walk of Fame, Wax Museums, Red Carpet, etc. Parking was underground and gated. Our view was of a park with a few people sleeping in it, however, we felt safe. We had a one bedroom with two double beds. It was more like an older apartment. It was clean and had contemporary decor. I was pleased to find a sofa bed..I slept on the sofa bed and my daughters each took a double bed. The continental breakfast was nice and the free drinks/snacks were quite a treat. What stood out the most about our stay there was the incredible customer service. All employees are pleasant, accommodating and eager to serve. They make you feel relaxed and welcome. I would definitely stay again!

The Magic Castle Hotel is a great place to stay in Hollywood with a family or as a couple if you're looking to escape from the city vibe and feel as close to home as you can while on vacation. Despite its name, it's not actually affiliated with Disneyland, as I originally suspected, but rather the Academy of Magical Arts. As a guest of the hotel, you can get access to their exclusive Magic Castle, which is a really neat Victorian Mansion that offers dinner and access to the magic shows and magical exhibits. Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to visit this time around, but it looked really cool.

The hotel itself is not a fancy place, but it's a real comfortable stay. They mostly offer apartments, but my husband and I stayed in one of their few deluxe Queen rooms. It was clean and had all of the amenities I would want: a decent sized bathroom with ample complimentary toiletries, refrigerator and coffee maker, television with DVD player, radio with iPod dock, a small desk, a chest of drawers for clothes, big closet complete with iron and safe, and a big comfy bed. The only downside was that the room itself was a little on the small side. I had planned on bringing my exercise DVDs to work out while on vacation, and there was definitely not enough space to do that. I did spy into a few of the apartment suites, and they were huge and cute. If you need extra space or have a little extra cash to burn, I'd definitely recommend upgrading.

Upon our arrival we were greeted with Limonada champagne while checking in, which was a nice surprise that really made us feel welcomed. What is also great about this hotel is all of the extras you get by staying here. For example, they offer unlimited free snacks and drinks at the front desk. They have a list of treats ranging from sodas to candies, chips, cookies, granola bars, etc. They also have an impressive list of both classic and current movies you can rent for free at the front desk. The heated pool was a nice size in the middle of the courtyard of the hotel, and they provided clean towels on the deck, and a robe and slippers in your room if you preferred to walk around in that. The wireless internet was pretty fast and had a reliable connection. Plus, the continental breakfast each morning was well stocked and had decent variety. They offered drinks like hot chocolate, juices, and coffee, in addition to at least 6 different kinds of cereal, assorted pastries, yogurt, and whole fruit.

One last great thing about the hotel was its location. If you're looking to stay in Hollywood, this was literally behind Hollywood Blvd, so you could easily walk to all of the major tourist spots or hop on the train. They also offer parking at $11 a day in a gated garage underneath the hotel, which is pretty affordable by CA standards. Although Hollywood itself is not my favorite spot in the greater LA area, the Magic Castle can't be beat if this is your main draw.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Magic Castle for 5 nights last week. Great location; within two blocks of Hollywood Blvd. Shopping, restaurants, bars, Theater, etc!

The two girls at the front desk RIGHT AWAY were so accommodating. I was working on several surprises for my boyfriend for his birthday, which was 4 days into our trip. They offered to set up something for him in the room, with a bottle of wine. He's not really into wine so they offered to bring a bottle of his favorite liquor instead. They took care of it discreetly and he was VERY surprised! They even made a card for him and set up the bottle with a little cake from a local bakery! So nice! We had a limo the night of his birthday as well, and they helped me orchestrate the surprise for him. They couldn't have been better - awesome!

The room itself was a little disappointing because it was a little outdated, but it was clean and nice enough. We needed more hangers/towels/etc - we called, and within minutes, someone was at our door with the requested item! Kitchen would have been VERY useful for someone who knows how to use an oven. =) Fridge came in handy because the Magic Castle hotel gives you all the soda and snacks you want at the front desk. Every time we passed, we grabbed a different snack/soda! No bottled water though =( The included continental breakfast was also nice - Mini croissants, cereal, coffee, mini muffins, fruit and juice! A great benefit for us to be able to grab something on-the-go to Disneyland or one of our other day trips.

One other negative - PARKING! Lot is very small and is under the building; very tricky to get in and out of (and we had a tiny rental!) You have to swipe your room key in a machine to get in the lot, which is great for the security of the lot, but not so good when you're a little far from the machine.

Overall, the Magic Castle hotel was wonderful and I would definitely stay here again!

    This place is AWESOME.

Bottom line, their customer service ROCKS!  My boyfriend decided to surprise me for our anniversary, which happened to be during Halloween weekend and Magic Castle's Monster Madness craziness.  If you didn't know already, you can get a guest pass into Magic Castle without knowing any of the members by simply staying here!  Which is what we did.

Other's have talked about snacks, the cake from the local bakery, a card, etc.  But I'll really emphasize that I've NEVER had better customer service anywhere else.  My boyfriend and I were rushing to get our Halloween costumes together before heading to the castle, and he realized he had no contact lenses drops and his eyes were drying out really fast.  So we took a shot and called down to ask if they had any...they didn't and recommended a pharmacy just a block away.  But we had no time!  I would honestly never ask for this anywhere else, but knowing the reviews about their customer service, I then nicely asked if they had anyone on staff who could run to the pharmacy for us to pick some up.  BEHOLD!  They did!  I was delightfully surprised.

The outside looks like a rundown apartment, but they've fixed up the rooms very well and I'm so glad we stayed there.  (Plus, if you're going to the castle and will be drinking *cough* a lot, they provide a free shuttle up and down the hill!  Woot!)

Thanks for a great experience!  I hope I'll get a chance to stay there again soon :)

Hands down, the very best place I have ever had the pleasure of spending the night at.

You are greeted in the lobby by insanely pleasant staffers that are super accommodating. They go over everything they have, show you how to get to your room, etc.

The room was fairly basic and small, but perfect for us. On our online reservation we put that we were celebrating Valentine's Day and we were welcomed with a bottle of wine and a chocolate treat! We already knew from the service and smiles we got when we checked in would make our visit special, and this was just the cherry on top.

They also had an awesome service where you could get lots of treats and drinks delivered to your room for free.

We only stayed here so we could get a dinner reservation at the Magic Castle, but we will be back for the hotel itself.

As a bonus, the hotel will shuttle you to the magic castle for your reservation.

I can't wait to visit LA again so we can stay here.

What a great hotel!  The hotel is in a great location, as it is a close walk to the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The hotel is great value.  For a very fair and moderate price, you get a very spacious room, free continental breakfast, snacks, newspapers, etc.  The customer service was great and helpful.

My father & I have now stayed here on two separate trips to LA, one in 2005 and one this week.  The location is really good if you want to see all the Hollywood stuff.  It is easy walking distance to the Dolby (formerly Kodak) theater where the Oscars are held, Grauman's Chinese theater, and the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  I think I've had my fill of Hollywood and on my next trip to LA I want to stay somewhere less touristy, but this is a good place to stay if its your first time in the area and you are into all the Hollywood stuff.   There's also a metro stop (Red Line) at Hollywood and Highland that's about a 10 minute walk from the hotel, so getting around on the subway is pretty easy (although the subway doesn't go to a lot of the tourist places).

The best thing about this hotel is the staff, who are really incredibly nice and bend over backwards to make sure you have a nice stay.  They are happy to recommend restaurants, help you get TV show tickets, give you directions to anything in LA, etc.

Here are some other perks of the hotel:
-Free snacks (cookies, crackers & candy) whenever you want, just have to ask at the front desk
-Free continental breakfast in the morning with scones, croissants, coffee and juice.  It was edible but I didn't think the pastries were great (my father was a much bigger fan).
-Free non-alcoholic fizzy drink when you check in
-Free wifi, although it was pretty flaky and unreliable.  This is one of the biggest drawbacks to the hotel in my opinion.  I always used to prefer that the wifi was free, even if unreliable, but since I've started traveling for work and needing to do work out of my hotel I've come to really appreciate and prefer reliable wifi, even if I have to pay for it.
-Huge rooms - our 1 bedroom suite was over 600 square feet: bigger than many 1 bedroom apartments
-Heated pool (it was chilly and we didn't use it)
    -Free newspaper in the morning
-Comfy bathrobes (also for sale for $90)
-Really comfortable beds and very soft, warm comforters
-Andes mints on your pillow at turn-down (although for some reason we didn't get turn-down service every night)
-They can get you into the Magic Castle Club if you want to go there

Overall, we had a very pleasant stay here both times & I would recommend the hotel if you are looking for a nice, fairly reasonably priced place to stay in Hollywood.  The rooms are a little bit older and in particular the bathrooms are a bit grungy (the water from the shower came out brown at first), but other than that the hotel is really nice & the friendliness of the staff and all the free perks definitely make this a 4-star experience.  My one caveat is that I would not necessarily recommend this hotel to business travelers because of the unreliability of the wifi.

This place rocks due to the service.....When we go to Hollywood this is usually our "go to place" and they remember when you visit.  They put a nice card in our room, gave us some special snacks, and said welcome back.  We were there once for a birthday - and they signed a birthday card and left us a great small cake.   We like the rooms best that are on the same floor as the lobby - there are stairs in this hotel and no elevators.

The place is like an older apartment building turned hotel.   We like the space we get with a living room and comfortable bedroom.  The kitchen is ok -having the large refrigerator,  table and microwave area makes it great for warming up left overs.  Its not a place however to cook a gourmet dinner.

Continental breakfast in the morning is good.  The 24 hour swimming pool is nice to have....and we usually swim there in the middle of summer or in January.....

Its close enough to walk to everything in Hollywood - i.e. 5 minutes or so to the Chinese theater.

But the reason for the 5 stars for an older place to stay is the service and the unlimited snacks and soft beverages you can get anytime of day.

Parking is in an underground garage; keyed - a bit tight to park, but works wonderful for being so close to everything in Hollywood.

We also liked their arrangement with the Magic Castle and have gone to the Sunday brunch and magic show there.

This was a surprise all around. The service was outstanding; they helped us drag our very heavy bags up the very long sets of stairs. They provided us a welcome glass of sparkling juice which was a great touch. Free snacks, free continental breakfast, free wifi, fantastic staff, close to the walk of fame and the Chinese theatre. All of these make these a great place to stay. The place was clean, maybe a bit worn down and there is no elevator, but these are minor when it comes to the quality of service we received. They were even so kind as to let us keep our bags at the hotel until we left L.A. long after our 11 a.m. checkout. When we mentioned that we were driving out to Huntington Beach when we picked up our bags, the nice woman at the front desk offered us some snacks for the road.

So impressed, can't wait to go back!

On my recent trip to California I stayed at the Magic Castle Hotel based on the recommendation of Xavier C. It was a little confusing when I first arrived - the Magic Castle private club is on the right; the hotel on the left. The hotel parking was labeled "tenant" and I wasn't sure that I was in the correct place. From the outside it looked old and I was unsure about the choice - but once inside I was impressed.

Customer service is one of the impressive features of this hotel. I was greeted upon entering, advised of the amenities including free snacks, free beverages, free internet, and free DVDs brought to the room. Although most things are free, water is $4. Parking is $11 per day, which is good in comparison to other hotels. Another feature is access to the private Magic Castle club for a $20 entry fee plus the cost of dinner. There is a strict dress code so plan ahead.  The housekeeping crew attended my room twice a day and kept everything tidy. A newspaper hung from my door each morning and two Andes mints left on the desk. Loved the free hot cider and cucumber water in the lobby. Free continental breakfast in the morning.

Another great feature of the hotel is the location. It is a block away from the Chinese Theater and in a perfect spot to see Hollywood Boulevard and a short drive to Beverly Hills if you want to check out star homes.

The room was the regular 1 bed room (they do have 1 bedroom suites available too). It was an okay size for 1-2 people. The bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of dresser space for clothes. I enjoyed my stay and I will definitely consider staying here again.

We stayed at this hotel while coming to see a show at the Hollywood Bowl and couldn't have been more impressed with the service from every single person we interacted with at the hotel.

The rooms are a little old but clean and well maintained.  They had free WiFi, free snacks (soda, chips, candy, etc.), and free movies.  They have a long list of restaurants that will deliver which is perfect if you are running late like we were.  They provide free shuttle service almost anywhere, including shuttling us to and from the Hollywood Bowl if you don't want to walk the mile there and back.

The staff was really what gets this place the fifth star.  Everyone was helpful, friendly and patient.  Can't say enough how great they made our stay.

Arriving after mid-night we were greated to a refreshing drink upon check-in.  We were offered snacks and reminded of the complimentart continential breakfast in the morning.  Upon entering our room their was a "welcome" card on the kitchen table along with more healthy snacks.  The room, while not a modern facility, was very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable.  We stayed for two nights and used the hotel as our central locatian during our stay in the LA area.  The location is perfect and the ease of coming and going was fantastic.
When we make our next trip to LA we will again look for a room at the Magic Castle hotel.

I put up family members in the Magic Castle Hotel when they were in town last month. We had a 5-STAR experience at the Magic Castle. For the rates, I never would have expected things like a champagne toast when we arrived or snacks and drinks at no charge. We were most surprised when we went to see if we could buy some laundry detergent to use. They said, "Here, you can just use ours, no charge." Even WiFi was no charge!

I have never stayed in a hotel where they didn't nickel and dime you for everything. I highly recommend this place!

Love, love, love this hotel.  It has a vintage feel and is immaculate.  The  minute we checked in we were greeted with a cold glass of sparking lemonade and the best first class customer service.  They made it clear they were there to help us in any way they could; from the great snacks they offered us to take to the concert at the Hollywood Bowl, to shuttling us to and from Magic Castle in the evening.  The very large complimentary breakfast was delicious, especially the scones and rich coffee.  Enjoying it pool-side was divine.

My boyfriend proposed at the Magic Castle and got us a room at the Magic Castle Hotel.  The hotel did an amazing job making our stay memorable.  They scattered silk rose petals from the entrance to the dinning table with complimentary champagne and a delicious petite cake surrounded by more rose petals.

The room looked much better than the images provided on their website.  We had a large living room, kitchen, separate bedroom and a balcony.  They offer free complimentary drinks and snacks!

We had overseas visitors coming to see our company in Santa Ana and we wanted to entertain them. Having only a single night to do this (Wednesday night) and not just wanting to go to a restaurant, the pickings were rather thin.  It came down to a choice of Cirque Du Soleil (Chinese visitors seeing Chinese acrobats??), Peter Pan with Cathy Rigby (just kill me.....really....just freakin' shoot me in the temple) or the Magic Castle.  13 of us crammed into an Escalade limo in rush hour traffic and headed up to Hollywood.

The place definitely looks like a castle from the outside and is actually a converted house.  The club is celebrating their 50th anniversary. To gain entrance, one of our employees paid $250 for a one month membership, allowing her to bring all of the guests with her.  The building is old, but well maintained, and is really kind of charming to walk through.  Three different bars, coat checks, tiny rest rooms and a large dining hall. Service was pretty good but a little rushed as we had to finish up in time for the first show. The food was expensive and quite good, but not great. A high end menu with prime rib, gourmet steaks, seafood and chicken dishes.  I had the veal chop and it was a little fatty but quite tasty.  The wine flowed, our guests were having a good time and we moved away from the table for the evening's entertainment.

We had tickets for the 10pm show in the large main room.  The act, Ice and Tina, was pretty funny and, yes, quite magical.  We enjoyed the lady far better.  We also went to an 11:30 show with Handsome Jack.  He was a laugh riot and his illusions were fabulous.

Our guests, coworkers and family members all had a wonderful, expensive, evening. It was a real treat for us.

Don't be mislead like we were!  :(

My boyfriend was a member of the Magic Castle for 3 years and we didn't renew this year because we were travelling a lot,  we decided to do a "staycation" (we live in L.A.) and read on the Magic Castle Hotel website:

"Additionally, as a guest of the Magic Castle Hotel, you can access the world famous and private, Magic Castle Club."

HURRAH!  we thought and booked 2 rooms for 2 nights for ourselves and a friend, excited to get to see some incredible magic, enjoy the fantastic atmosphere of the Magic Castle, and have an awesome 2 days.  We checked in, hung out for a bit, then a visit to the front desk dealt revealed our plan wasn't to be.

What the website doesn't do is make it clear that there are multiple other steps REQUIRED for guests of the hotel to actually get into the Castle.  As the manager pointed out to me is CLEARLY stated below on the website ("I don't know how we could make that more clear, really!").

"A true Hollywood landmark, the Magic Castle Club was established nearly a half-century ago. Make reservations and enjoy fine dining and watch the world's best magicians perform."

A bit misleading perhaps?  Hopefully they will find a way to word it slightly differently for future Castle enthusiasts.

So we are in a mediocre hotel for 2 nights, but so bummed out we'll probably just go home.

Stayed here for NYE as a last minute decision since it was closer to the Hollywood clubs. From the booking process to checking out, everything went superb. The staff and service is super awesome, especially Nick at the front desk. He explained everything to us and answered all our questions. The staff were super friendly and even greeted us with sparkling lemonade. They also have free breakfast in the morning which was a plus. Oh and the unlimited snacks and soda was so awesome. We kept asking for more and they didn't seem to mind lol. Free laundry service and wifi as well. The room we stayed in was a suite which had a living room area and a kitchen. Enough to sleep 6 people. They even had a bottle of apple cider and champagne for us in the room, not sure if they always have that or because it was nye, but either way it was a nice touch. The hotel itself isn't really fancy or new but it was really clean and good especially for a last minute booking for one night. Parking is in the garage for $12 per car. We were really impressed with the service. We called for extra towels and literally less than 5 minutes they brought it! Nick and the rest of the staff were super awesome and accommodating to us which is why I'm giving them 5 stars. :)

My family and I were treated like superstars during our stay. In fact, everyone staying at the Magic Castle Hotel is treated that way. The customer service at this hotel was off the charts impeccable. Our eleven year old twins thought they were in heaven... unlimited snacks, Popsicles poolside, DVDs, and a ridiculously friendly and outgoing staff.

The a/c was cold, our room huge, bed comfortable and clean, a kitchen, robes, lots of towels, and plenty of parking made this hotel an oasis. The only  negative was the shower. The water would change from warm to super hot and then cold multiple times during a shower.

Any discomfort we experienced due to the plumbing was more than mitigated by the wonderful staff. We lost our breakfast reservation Sunday morning and were short on time, but needed a big meal to get through the day. One of their awesome front desk folks made a reservation for us at Chateau Marmont... We were seated right away and had a wonderful time.

Our family of 4 stayed here at the end of July 2014.  We went to Universal Studios so this hotel was a great location for us.  I had no idea how close we were to Hollywood Blvd so we were pleasantly surprised.  As soon as we arrived the staff was so friendly and helpful.  Our room was a bit far from the lobby and it was a little difficult getting our luggage in and out.  We did have a couple of staff members who offered to help with our luggage so that was sweet.  Our room was great!  It was a 1 bedroom suite and it was more than enough room for our family.  My sister in law, niece & nephew stayed with us one night and they were able to use the pull out sofa.  We loved the complimentary Wi-Fi, snacks, nonalcoholic drinks & continental breakfast.  We were told they offered a complimentary laundry service as well but we didn't need to use it.  The location was great, walking distance to shopping and restaurants.

I must say that the staff here offered excellent customer service!  One evening we went to the lobby for snacks and we asked for Reese's peanut butter cups but they had run out.  We went back to our room and about 10 mins later, we had a knock at the door and they brought us Reese's peanut butter cups.

The parking is a little snug.  On the morning we were checking out, the guest who parked behind us parked so close to our bumper that our cars were touching.  When that guest came out, we asked him why he parked so close.  He was a total jerk about the situation.  The front desk knew about our parking incident as we were checking out and offered to waive our parking fees for our stay.  They had no fault in the matter but they wanted to ensure we left with a pleasant experience.  We will definitely stay here again in the future!

This is definitely the place to stay in Hollywood. For my birthday we booked a one bedroom suite for two nights and comfortably fit 6-8 of us. We turned a few things into beds (sofa pillow, put two chairs together, the floor). The room was very clean. I walked in to find balloons and a cake waiting for me on the table with a card signed by the staff. We were located on the second floor with a balcony, fortunately for us, smoking permitted upstairs only. Downstairs is a no smoking zone. The king size bed was comfy along with the fluffy pillows. There was enough closet space for all our things. The kitchen was clean and well equipped with utensils, soap, paper towels, normal size refrigerator, dishes... The hotel offers free, unlimited snacks and sodas 24/7! The pool is heated all day everyday and also open 24/7.

The customer service is phenomenal. Waiting to check in,  my friend and I were given popsicles and helped ourselves to Danish cookies and cucumber water. Soon, I was greeted by Mallory who came out from behind the registration desk to help us. She and the rest of the staff (Nick & Nick, & I think his name was Kevin) were very very friendly, helpful, and very easy to talk to.

My friends and I will definitely be coming back.

I have to give credit where credit is due ... I've never experienced better customer service at a hotel before. I've stayed at the St. Regis in many cities where they give you your own butler and still, it couldn't compare to the Magic Castle.

I was in Hollywood during the Oscars, which is a bit of a pain in the ass because every nice place is booked. At least it gave me the chance to find out what the fuss was all about at the Magic Castle.

I paid a very reasonable rate for my room, parking was only $11. And it is about 1 block to Hollywood Boulevard. (a sketchy block filled with crack zombies ... but that's the glamour of Hollywood for you.) In fact, many of the people who were flown in to put up the sets at the Oscars were staying at the hotel.

There is free wifi, free apple cider and those little Danish butter cookies your grandmother used to have, and I hear that the mini-bar items are free in the room! Unfortunately, the hotel was booked when I was there so they put me up in the Hollywood Hills Hotel (the sister hotel) where nothing was free except the shuttle ... but I have every intention of staying at the Magic Castle Hotel next time I am in the area so I can raid their junk food supply.

The rooms ... eh ... it's not a 5 star hotel. Or 4. Or bearly 3. But what they lack in luxury, they make up in customer service. Seriously ... its like Disneyworld if Disneyworld cared about you.

One of the cool parts about staying here is that you can also get a reservation at the Magic Castle Restaurant next door. Incredibly overpriced and hokey but an amazing place to bring a date.

I don't give out too many 5 star endorsements but I've never seen such customer service before. I hate to do it because someone may book the last available room after reading this review the next time I want to stay here. But like I said, I have to give credit where credit is due and this place is legit solely based on their amazing customer service.

Great location, Super Friendly Staff, Free WiFi
From the 1950's neon yellow exterior, one would not expect to find such a relaxing and wonderful inn on the interior. On the same parcel as the famed Magic Castle, this small hotel is a terrific find in the middle of Tinsel Town. Located a block from the Roosevelt Hotel, Grahmns Chinese Theater, Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum, and the Stars Walk of Fame on Hollywood Boulevard, the Magic Hotel has very clean, simply furnished rooms, super comfy beds, quiet rooms without street noise, plus a staff that aims to please. Our party of four booked room 106, a two bedroom/two bath suite with a full kitchen and living room to celebrate an anniversary. A bottle of wine, a cake, and card awaited us upon our arrival as well as a list of complimentary snacks available at the front desk. Rose petals adorned the bed of the anniversary couple-very sweet.  WiFi is included, however there is a $12 parking fee. A substantial continental breakfast is included in the room rate consisting of juices, coffee, tea, cereals, croissants, breads, yogurt, and fruit.  The heated pool is open 24 hours and is a great way to unwind after walking the streets of Hollywood.  Nicola and all the people working at the hotel are super friendly and offer the best customer service you'll experience at any hotel, thus a 5 STAR rating.  It's small and not fancy but filled with a happy star-studded ambiance. We loved our stay and will definitely be back again to book an evening at the Magic Castle to enjoy the magic shows and food.

Son had a birthday party in one of the suites. Large rooms - size of a small apartment with stove, microwave, fridge, etc. I guess it's what you can expect for $240 a night.

Yeah, the place isn't so perfect, and some things are a little worn, but I thought the place was great for what it was.

Staff is super nice, accommodating, and the suite came with free drinks and snacks. I think the kids consumed at least $50 in drinks and snacks alone.

Morning, there is free coffee, muffins, scones, toast, etc.

Pool is nice, clean and large.

    Underground off-street parking, as well.

Not a bad stay at all, in fact it was a pretty nice stay.

LOVE this place.  It might be the charm of feeling a sense of history, as you walk through the pool area from the lobby to your room.  You can just feel the presence of those who may have lived here in the past.  But for me, it was not just that historic charm that will bring me back to stay.  Our service at this hotel was above and beyond.

I had a good customer experience with every person I came into contact with.  And I felt that we were truly being taken care of from the moment we walked in.

Our room, which was a converted apartment was spacious.  We had a patio overlooking the heated pool.  And we also had a kitchen, and oh so much space.

We had so many things going on during our stay, that I was sad that we didn't get to fully enjoy the hotel as much as I would have liked.  We will definitely go back.  We actually were so busy that we didn't even pop open the bottle of champagne that had been left for us on New Year's Eve.  I did consume the gluten-free snacks that were so thoughtfully provided for me though.

The Magic Castle felt like home to me.  Especially if we are going to do an extended stay in the future, I will try to book there again, so that we can have a kitchen, enjoy the heated pool, and be in walking distance to the subway, and bus stops that ultimately take us to the parts of Los Angeles that we are normally trying to get to.  For someone who is wanting to do touristy stuff, this is also a good spot because it really is just a few blocks away from all of that chaos (which I personally was trying to avoid).  But it was close enough to the Red Line, that we could get in & out of the area as needed.

This is a fantastic hotel. Most recent visit was very much to my expectations. I appreciate their consistent great service, elegance, good food options, comfortable bed, reliable internet and pretty decor. Great choice as a business hotel or for a romantic getaway. Great location near many things.

We've never stayed at a hotel before that was this expensive or where the service was so fantastic. It reminds me of the movies with the English butlers, though with an Asian flavor. We were there for a wedding, and the hotel did a superb job.The location is also superb, close to shopping, restaurants and the lake. The only flaw is that they are not setup as perfectly as one might wish for handicap access for my parents the bathroom is fine, but the bed was too high to get into easily. They brought a cot in at 11PM great service! but this was too low. Aside from this, everyone had a memorable time.

We held a very high-end training session at Magic Castle Hotel over several days. The service was phenomenal! Among the great staff that helped me out behind the scenes was Stephanie Hu, Kelli Giglio and Cheryl Slaughter. On-site I was told that the staff went above and beyond to make the sessions run smoothly and comfortably for all of our participants.

Free snacks, amazing service, AMAZING service. I am horribly introverted, this business is literally the reason I made my Yelp account. The staff made me feel comfortable talking to them and asking for a favor, and even brought my mother a special snack of her own to accommodate her dietary restrictions (because we could all eat the snacks, but she couldn't). I witnessed a young man working here helping a young lady, four to five years old, find her way back to her parents from the lobby. Made me tear up.

I stayed at the hotel for a weekend and it was great. We arrived around 10am on Friday morning and we were pleasantly surprised our room was ready. Our room was spacious and the two bathrooms in the room was a plus. The beds was super comfy and slept peacefully. Great location for getting around downtown Los Angeles.

Everything clean and tidy. About what you would expect from the Magic Castle Hotel. The big suprise was the guest room. It is really two previous tiny rooms that have been combined into one spacious room with two small bathrooms and two closets.

We LOVE this place! We had 3 people traveling on business so we reserved a two bedroom. But, this was no hotel room- it was a HUGE 2 bedroom APARTMENT! Super clean, modern decor - simply wonderful.

That would have been enough for five stars right there, but when you add in the staff who treat you like you are family who they would do anything for (especially Nick who was amazing), and then you add in all the little extras like free drinks and snacks, the sparkling lemonade greeting and more- well, if I could give them more than 5 stars I would!

A really fantastic place to stay.

Made this hotel our home base for a Magic Castle evening, was pleasantly surprised by the friendly staff and clean, spacious rooms (we got a floor-level suite). The parking was indeed very tight, glad we brought the car because the truck never would have fit. When we arrived in the lobby decked out for the night the staff offered to drive us around to the Castle next door because they were worried about my heels on the hill (a valid concern, and surprisingly observant), the door-to-door delivery was quite helpful as we had no intention of moving the car once we'd wedged it in there.  The no-judgment snacks were a nice treat at the end of the evening, and the breakfast spread included some healthy choices alongside the usual cereal & glass case offerings. The hotel ended up being one of our favorite things about an excellent weekend.  We will definitely be back.

I chose this gem via Yelp and each girl at the Bachelorette weekend loved it and will definitely be back. We will try to make it a yearly event! On the notes when reserving the hotel I put that we will be in town for my sisters Bachelorette Weekend events. We were greeted at the lobby with champagne glasses full of sparkling lemonade while Kevin the told us all about the wonderful hotel.  We were told all about the no judging zone for the mini bar, the popsicles via poolside, and the 24 hour pool.

When we got to our suite that roomed 6 but could house 10 if we brought blankets and pillows.  We loved the Ikea style contemporary decor and we noticed a bucket of real champagne on ice along with 4 glasses, a cake, with a card on top that said "Do not get into too much trouble" and all the staff signed the card!

As we got settled in the housekeeping came by to make sure that we were all settled in and they even offered to pull out our beds when the time came around.

After our night events we got items from the mini bar, the lobby personnel helped us take a picture of the whole party before we headed out on the town, they got us a taxi, and when we came back they gave us good recommendations for restaurants that delivered food towards the end of the night.

This hotel beats any other hotel experience I've ever had.  We all only live about an hour away, but this hotel is a really good mini get away from the house and all the normal day routines! I personally recommend it to anyone who asks about the bachelorette weekend and for anyone looking to spend the weekend in la.

    Free Wifi
    Free Mini Bar (beverages/candy/chips/crackers)
    24 hour pool
    Free Laundry Service
Suite (fully stocked kitchen/regular size fridge/huge king size bed/huge livingroom)
Can pay cash at the end of the stay!!! Helped with all the money I had collected from all the girls that went :)

I'd Have to say the only downside would be the kind of snoodie people that were staying at the hotel... they all looked pretty rude and bothered... lol but the hotel all in all was a great experience!!!

Elegant grand hotel on Franklin Ave, Los Angeles is still worth the stay! They don't make them like this anymore and if you need to be south of the Loop its worth seeing what wide hallways, high ceilings, and large public areas feel and look like.

I've only just arrived but I am already so impressed. The gentleman who checked us in was so kind and welcoming. He greeted us with two glasses of sparkling lemonade  and told us about the amenities. The pool is open 24/7 and the front desk offers a choice of free snacks whenever you like! We are staying in a one bedroom suite and it is huge! Much bigger than our own apartment and very well kept! For my boyfriend's  birthday they left a delightful surprise on the kitchen table. I am already so pleased with this hotel and I haven't even been here 30 minutes! For a mini romantic staycation I will definitely be recommending this place to all my friends!

I needed to stay in the city due to a heavy snow that made driving home to the suburbs impossible and the  Magic Castle Hotel was able to provide both a room and transportation on very short notice. Magic Castle Hotel and their staff turned a very difficult LA winter day into a mini vacation.

I love how all the staff members here are SO FRIENDLY! We arrived right before 3 PM and was immediately greeted by a young woman. She was in the middle of checking us in, but had to go take care of something else, so one of the young gentlemen took over and finished with our check-in. I cannot remember his name, but he was quite helpful, answering all the questions we had. Our room wasn't ready, so we waited in the lobby. And while we waited,  we could see how great the front desk treated their guests as people were coming in and out of the lobby, requesting snacks or requesting information on transportation.

Our one bedroom suite with two full beds was on the second level and we had a balcony looking out to the pool. The suite was huge and clean, but we did have an issue with the linens, but it was quickly resolved as housekeeping did a great job changing the sheets upon our request. We went out for the evening and when we got back to the suite, we saw that they left chocolate mints on our pillows.

The bathroom was small and there were no hooks on the back of door to hang anything nor were there counter space, but there was a vanity area right outside the bathroom and it had plenty of lighting. Bathrobes were a nice touch but were way too big for us. I'm sure had we requested them in our size, they would have sent some up.

Free breakfast in the morning in the lobby with cereals,  pastries, yogurt, coffee,  tea, and juice. There were not enough seating outside so we brought it back to our suite and ate.

Parking is a right below the hotel, but it was a little tight getting in and out of the spaces, but that could just be me not used to small parking garages.

Stayed 2 nights at the end of our honeymoon. I was disappointed. Maybe my expectations were too high based on the good reviews and experiences in other hotels before we arrived here.

Yes the staff are extremely friendly, the free snacks are cool and we were able to leave our bags on the day of checkout which was handy, but this didn't really make up for everything else.

We stayed in a Queen room which was basically a locked off room attached to the suite next door. We weren't expecting anything fancy but the fact that we could very clearly hear the family in the suite was pretty annoying (I'm sure they could hear us too). The neighbours stomped up the stairs and slammed doors all morning, and we even heard their alarm go off at 6am without being turned off for at least 15 minutes. Of course this isn't the hotel's fault however noise does seem to travel in this place, so keep that in mind. There was also a weird loud banging from the courtyard during the night, which was kind of scary and I jumped up to make sure the door was locked.

As for the room itself our bathroom door didn't close all the way, the air con unit was loud, and our toilet stopped refilling on the first night - my husband managed to fix it before we called anyone to take a look, as it was quite late. The suites looked nicer.

Overall it just wasn't the experience I had hoped for at the end of my honeymoon. It's a special time for a couple and no one at the hotel acknowledged that we were honeymooning. Yes, I did expect a little special treatment given they are clearly all about customer service at this place and not luxury. Even a nice note or card would have been appreciated.

I suppose it is our own fault for getting sucked into the hype of the reviews rather than just booking a nice hotel somewhere else and ending our trip in a nicer way.

I can see why families would love this place as it's a nice escape from the craziness of Hollywood, but I would not recommend it for couples, and I wouldn't stay again.

This place was definitely an experience I'll remember. If you're ever lucky enough to check this place out, you're in for a treat! When you first pull up to the Magic Castle, the valet greets you and you wait in line to enter. I went on a Saturday with my wife and our brothers and sisters. The place opened at 5PM and we got there a little after that. I would recommend getting there on time or even earlier as it did get busy even though they just opened up.

When we finally got in, there was a lobby and a really small gift shop. We paid for admittance and then said the magic words "open sesame" to enter. Our dinner wasn't til 6PM so we got drinks at the bar. They had a lounge with some parlor magic tricks going on but it got full. That's why I would recommend going as early as you can to get the most out of this place.

    DINNER:
Dinner was surprisingly better than what I expected after reading the reviews on here. We got the truffle fries for appetizers. It was okay. Not the greatest. I ordered a 14oz steak. I can't remember the name but it was pretty delicious. The dinner was pretty pricey, but since this was a rare occasion I guess it was worth it. We were celebrating my birthday as well so they offered champagne or a slice of cheesecake to me. I got the cheesecake and it was pretty good and a nice addition to the meal. The service was really good and the food was better than expected. Because we ate dinner here, we got a ticket to the 8:30PM magic show. Since it was a busy weekend, at least we were guaranteed a seat. After dinner, we walked around to go see some of the different areas and shows. Because it was so busy and packed, the wait times were really long and you needed to be in line way in advance before the show even started. This was the only thing I didn't like was the wait and being so crowded.

I thought it was a more exclusive place but it didn't seem like it from the inside. We got to watch a few magic shows and up close magic tricks. The shows were really good and an experience I'll never forget. If you ever get the chance to be invited here, make sure to come and experience this for yourself!

5 STAR SERVICE AT A 3 STAR PRICE.

I finally found my go-to hotel for LA. I travel a lot. I have stayed in every type of hotel. From luxury top ten travel destination resorts, chain hotels, and even a hotel with bullet holes in the door. Okay, to be honest, we checked out of the bullet hole hotel, but we gave it a try. The Magic Castle service and friendly staff has exceeded most hospitality experiences I've had at luxury resorts.

This trip was last minute. I called the hotel and spoke with Gretchen, the Assistant General Manager. She quoted me a room price and warned me it was Oscars weekend so it would be very busy in Hollywood. I decided to take the room and within an hour I was at the Hotel.

When driving up to the hotel I wasn't wowed. It kind of looked like a lot of hotels I've stayed at. With the exception of the Magic Castle Club next door which I was hoping was the hotel.

The magic at the Magic Castle Hotel happens when you walk inside.
This boutique hotel has that old world Hollywood charm. It's well maintained and is suitable for family, business, or fun city getaway. This hotel is also a bit sexy, not romantic luxury sexy, but hip sexy. Our room had a kitchen which would be great for staying in all weekend.

The room was immaculate. It had all the basics I could want. However, it was the personal touches which really set this hotel apart. The day we checked in was a bit chilly, we went out for a while and came back in the evening. When we got back the heater had been turned on, the room was warm and comfortable. Our beds had been turned down, and of course there were chocolates on the bed. I'm a sucker for chocolate. Also, there was a card notifying me of the weather the next day. I know I have an app for that, but I love that attention to detail! And, sure enough, the next morning at breakfast, there was Gretchen, my new BFF offering umbrellas to anyone who would like one.

From the moment we arrived, to our all to early departure, I felt completely welcomed at the Magic Castle. A quick thank you to the gentlemen at the desk who checked us in, he was amazing. I feel terrible I can't remember his name because I know he remembered mine.
