Do not come here.  It's loud and the house keeping walked in on me naked at 11 at night. The hotel staff kept walking and standing by our see through looking curtains.  It was very invasive anf uncomfortable the whole night and morning.  We will never return

Stayed here for a few days and the place was an excellent value. I can't really say how pleased I was to find an affordable motel in Mid City LA (10-15 min to West LA,  Santa Monica, Hollywood, and Downtown LA.) Close to food spots too! Staff was really helpful. The rooms are good quality and the place had free parking too. Very pleased

Stayed here again, this is really a 3.5 star place so since im the only reviewer, I thought I'd even out the rating. But argh, yelp deleted my first review! Oh well basically it said:

Solid B overall, C- for cleanliness.
Good heat/A.C (not stuffy)
Free Wi-fi
On demand
1$ drink machine
Funky parking
60$ if you check out on time

Update:
Had a different room, with a slightly cleaner floor but dirtier other stuff. I think that really it's just that the stuff is old not that they don't clean. Wish check out was at noon instead of 10:30am, though they do give you a 30 minute grace period. This is a kinda ghetto area as I went out looking for a Newcastle to take back to my room and the liquor store only had Olde English and junk like NO spring water only purified municipal piss ewww. Lol
And then there was a crazy person yelling at the 76 down the street. The hotel has signs all over the place saying they got cameras and are buds with the police station around the corner so even if it's a little slummy of an area I felt safe in my room.

Either way, the room is comfy and sooo cheap i'll be back.

This is an updated review.  I stayed in Royal Hawaiian before and I felt--and still do--that it's a good, cheap motel room.  I didn't see any bed bugs and the AC seemed to work ok.  Another thing I guage a motel room by is how good the shower is in the morning, and this one was very good (but their towels are crap).  The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Here are the things that could use improvement:  The sheets appear to be old and used repeatedly, with occasional stains. The lighting in the bathroom is very poor, and without windows.  Don't even think of being able to put makeup on or see to shave in there.  You can try it at any one of the FOUR--yes, four--LARGE mirrors in the room.  (Any one else find that a tad creepy?  More than once I wondered if there were cameras behind them.)  Apparently, they couldn't spring for "Do Not Disturb" signs and there's no way to assure the cleaning person doesn't barge in while you're taking a shower.  Also because there's just the one basic lock on the door and no double lock or chain or anything for the inside.  Parking is awful, with one small driveway into the lot, so trying to get back onto the street involves a lot of maneuvering.  No maid service for my room the 2 nights I stayed there.

All in all, it's still a good, cheap room but don't expect any extras.

My husband and I stayed in 105 for three days and the amazing customer service isn't to be beaten. Five minutes away from the heart of Hollywood, there's nothing like waking up knowing you don't have to rush to get somewhere. Whether your staying from out of town, or just trying to get away for a day, this is a great motel for that. The house service cleans the rooms thoroughly and they're cleaning around the clock. Not to mention the owner RAJ is an exceptional kind man. Thank you Royal Hawaiian for having my husband and I stay with you, we will most definitely be back. We recommend this lovely abode.

You get what you pay for, and this place has real value.  Let's not mince words -- this place is what it is.  Don't compare it to any boutique hotel.

However, at the simple pleasures of needing a place to rest your weary head, this little motel has what it takes:

free wifi
air conditioning and heat
flat screen tv
best cable (even though it's Time/Warner)
clean, clean, clean
free parking
good water pressure (don't laugh, it's important)
hair dryer (in some rooms)
friendly staff (who stocked the soda machine for me)

Fixtures need updating, but in the grand scheme of things I'm being picky.  For this price in Los Angeles, it's a steal.
