My wife and I just spent four nights at this spectacular location. If you like fresh air and the outdoors, this a great place to go. Hiking, boating, fishing and golf. The rooms are located amongst the pine trees. The GM told us that about 2/3 of the rooms were recently renovated. I saw one and it was beautiful. We stayed in one that was not renovated and it was fine - spacious room, comfortable kingsized bed, and a spa tub in the corner of the room. The golf course is challenging and in very good condition. Beware of the rough! The dining room in the lodge provides good fare, not gourmet, but plentiful and tasty. But sitting in the dining room and looking out at Mt. Shasta is worth the visit. We enjoyed $1 taco night out on the deck with entertainment by "Dos Hombres."  Don't forget the spa. One hour and you come out feeling like new. All in all, a totally enjoyable visit. Next time we're gathering our young adult children and renting a chalet. They are both looking forward to that visit already!

Enjoyed a lovely Easter Brunch here.  The staff was attentive and kept the mimosas filled!  The food was all made on the premises, and there were many things to choose from.  Desserts such as an Espresso Chocolate Cheesecake, home made peanut brittle and English toffee, carrot cake, chocolate mousse tartlets, fresh strawberries with whipped cream, and much, much more.  Fresh salad bar with fresh fruit and home made dressings was wonderful.  Au Gratin potatoes, country potatoes, sausage, bacon, chicken breast tenders, baked eggs were all great.  For Easter, they even had carved prime rib and ham.  Grill items, such as Eggs Benedict, custom omelets and French toast were included and made to order,  Coffee, champagne, mimosas and other non-alcoholic beverages were included in the . . . are you ready for this . . . $18 brunch.  I've eaten here before for brunch, and was equally impressed.  Also, once for dinner that was just great!  The view of the Mountain is spectacular as well and quite a bonus!

Woodland room with a Jacuzzi was spacious and new.  Lots of privacy and just a 5 minute drive into town.  Good location for a short getaway with lots of hiking, boating, and exploring to do.

Stayed at this resort with my boyfriend in February 08 with two other couples. We rented the two bedroom chalet. The chalet was very comfortable for all six of us. Nice to have a fireplace, deck, kitchen, 1.5 baths, & the beds were comfy. We went to housekeeping to pick up a number of extra items & they were very nice. One downsize, you have to wash all of the dishes, no dishwasher.

We went to the hot tub & it was nice & hot. Nice way to relax after skiing. Didn't eat at any of the restaurants, since we cooked in both nights.

Wanted to stay for 2 nights, Sat April 30 and Sun May 1 -- but their off-season rates were already high and then on May 1 prices jump up another $40-50.  Seemed odd that they wouldn't negotiate considering how not-busy they were.  Chalets seem like a good deal for larger groups of 4-6 people, but too expensive for just 2 of us.  Ended up very happy at the Best Western in town with beautiful views of Mt. Shasta.

We had the Sunday Brunch after playing golf and really enjoyed it.  Good OJ with champange, standard fare of potatoes, sausages, bacon, biscuits and gravy, baked eggs, ham, and roast beef all pretty good.  Salad bar with little shrimp.  Fruit platter on the desert table had ripe melons and strawberries.

The waitress asked if we wanted an omlette or eggs benedict or french toast from the kitchen.  I had the benedict and it was excellent.  The omlettes were good looking, filled with whatever items you wanted.

Deserts were all fresh, super fresh, cheesecake with cherries and lemon bars were my pick.

Views of the mountain and golf course out the window, friendly staff, make this place a winner.  Not sure what the price was as it was part of a golf package.  By the way, the golf course is awesome!

Exceptional Dining my arse.

I never send things back at restaurants, that's just not my style. But here I had to. And that was just the dinner salad. TWICE. What they served was something that died a couple of weeks ago and then was put in a body bag.

Then came the rack of lamb. Oh god. How it managed to be so utterly and completely tasteless is beyond my understanding. Then I managed to bend the (undersized) fork just stabbing at it..

Definitely brings a new meaning to the phrase Exceptional Dining as they tout themselves on their website.

Just got back from the most relaxing beautiful weekend, here.
My BFF and I went for the girlfriends getaway , it was awesome !! The price was great...our room was the woodland room # 212 it was very nice comfortable queen beds, clean and plenty of towels.the tv was a good size for the room and appreciated the microwave ,fridge and the lil coffee pot. While here it did snow on us the morning we were leaving a huge storm came in. We called the front desk and asked if they had someone to put the chains on,she was great and sent someone to help us,actually three nice looking men. They were all great helpful, even offered to load our car for us. They put the chains on. Needless to say the over all experience was great, the restaurant ,I ordered the fillet mignon ,rice pilaf and veggies, everything was excellent my fillet was cooked to order and came out perfect.the waiting staff was excellent ,very nice and helpful, she knew exactly what we needed and got it. I also got a massage and facial at the day spa, also great...throughout the whole trip never had any complaints, everyone we spoke with was extremely helpful, and nice...I will definately be returning. I can't wait to go back up this summer and play golf. It's so peaceful and beautiful ,diamond in the rough ,I have found ...took us 3 1/2 hours to get there but we'll worth it. Thank you all for making our girlfriend getaway awesome

While the views from the Resort are amazing, the food is less than delicious. In fact, I would go so far as to call it bad. I recently had the rack of lamp and it tasted like dry pork. My friend had the special of the day - some sort of blackened fish - and it was undercooked and smelled like rotten eggs.

That being said, the golf course is a great deal and the tennis courts are well-maintained. The staff is friendly and I would recommend using this as a recreational facility and not as a restaurant.

An OK place. Very noisy. The room is clean, big, but gosh..the heater is noisy in winter and if you don't have a life, ask for #214 and you can listen in stereo your neighbor's discussions. Forget the restaurant. way overpriced

I am giving Mount Shasta Resort 4 stars based on my stay during Thanksgiving last year.

The cabin was nice, the Jacuzzi next to the bed was awesome (sipping wine in the hot tub while watching TV at the same time with remote in hand, can it be anymore awesome?), the surrounding (the cabins were in the woods) was beautiful & quiet, the room was clean and maintained very well, and the staff was super friendly and helpful.

We avoided the ski crowd by going there during Thanksgiving which got us a great deal on the room. Since there wasn't any crowd, the staff was extremely patient and would take their time to accommodate our needs.

I have no idea how the place would be like when it's crowded. It totally deserves 5 stars based on my stay, I just have to minus a star because the food at their restaurant was just bland and almost disappointing.

Chalets are in a great location, right on the lake, perfect size for a family of four.  Pretty clean, somewhat rustic.  Rented a boat at the local campground.  Small but gorgeous lake with Mt. Shasta in view at all times.

Being sports fans without TV, we eat in the lounge - often - while watching a game on the big screen.  If it's broadcast on the local cable system, they will tune it in for you on one of the 4 TVs there.  We order classic hamburgers from the Bar Bites menu (you can also order from the restaurant menu).  The service is always great - friendly folks, considerate, endless refills on our sodas, always some sort of good microbrew on tap.  Not gourmet dining, but a comfortable and friendly local hang-out for catching a game.

We stayed here for two nights over the holidays. The resort is in a beautiful location, very conveniently located near downtown, but I still feel like it wasn't worth what we paid because:

The Wi-Fi sucks.
There is a view of the lake, but you can't get to it.
No DVD player in the room, but you can get one from the front desk (limited supply).
The TV channels are limited, TV is kinda small, no HD.
The resort restaurant is expensive! Even with the 20% off for staying there.
Not very close to the ski resort.

There is privacy and the chalets are nicely furnished. I would call the manager and ask for the "manager special" rates because they are more reasonable. Or shop around.

Gist - nice dinner at least entrees comes w/ sides; w/ pretty view of the mountain at sunset to make it romantic

Food Order
* Coconut Shrimp - usually get 4 but we got 8! Good size but a bit a little too brown

* Ahi Tuna - came w/ choice of side & salad/soup ; had brown rice (a bit tasteless) w/ brocolli rabe , tuna was a really good size and cooked medium rare..just could use a little something..

* Filet Mignon - BF said it was good and well cooked

* Dessert - Le Bomb - which is like hard chocolate shell w/ chocolate cake inside w/ rasberry sauce outside

* it was pretty empty minus the wedding reception outside so service was really good

* you don't have to dress up.....we went in shorts

The view of Mt. Shasta from the restaurant was amazing.  The restaurant's huge windows provided us with an effortless view of the mountain's snow-draped slopes and provided a mesmerizing reward after a long dramatic work day.  This restaurant has perhaps one of the most amazing dining experience views in Northern California.

The food, however, was not as impressive.  It wasn't horrible, but definitely unremarkable.  Like good Catholics :-) we started with bread and wine.  We ordered a bottle of Riesling, which was appropriately priced like the rest of the wine selection.  We moved on to the glazed tombo tuna as our appetizer.  It was fresh, seared just right, and the glaze was a nice touch.  We thought it was reasonably priced at $10.  Cream of broccoli soup then followed - a very creamy generous serving of from-the-can-like liquid food.  It wasn't too bad, but disappointingly generic.  My colleague had the Tortellini, an $18 dish of seemingly dry, hard pasta.  It wasn't attractive enough for me to taste, and my colleague ended up boxing most of it.  I had the Thai BBQ Salmon, which rested on a bed of spinach, sweet potato cubes, and topped with balsamic glazed onions.  I finished the dish, although it was undeserving of its $24 tag.  They ran out of creme brule and my colleague selected a slice of the raspberry cheesecake to share to pair with coffee to end our meal.  Getting the $7 bill for that cheesecake was a delayed April fool's joke, especially since it was so ridiculously plain.  Overall, the food was un-inspired, horribly presented on cheap, old, dishes, and did not pair well with the restaurant's amazing scenery.

I must say that the food paired well with the sad, sad furniture and decor.  The Christmas lights, which cascaded from the fake greenery that lined the perimeter of the ceiling, boldly screamed of bad taste. The square tables, chairs, and the booths transport you to one or more of those bad dining memories from Denny's.

I love this place!  Great service, Great Food, Rooms are wonderful!  This was my first time to Mt. Shasta and I thoroughly enjoyed it.  Visited twice in 2 months!  I agree with one reviewer, there were a couple of people who weren't that friendly or helpful. HOWEVER,  the people who provided consistent, excellent service ( friendly, helpful, professional) and just plain nice...are Bonnie, Sara, Amber, Jamie, Jon and Lance.  I highly recommend this resort.  Thanks again Bonnie!!!!  This is a great place to stay when you're in Mt. Shasta!!!!

This is my second stay at the Mt. Shasta Resort. The first time it was winter, and I stayed in a two bedroom Chalet. It was lovely. Peaceful and cozy.

This time it is summer, and quite busy, and I have a room with two beds, which is part of a three room unit. The room is very nice, is huge and I have no complaints about it. It has a mini fridge and a microwave, which is a nice feature.

The factor which leads me to give such a low rating is the smoking policy. The guys in the room next to me (5 feet away from my door, max) are out smoking on their porch, and the smoke is wafting into my room.  I called the front desk to ask about the smoking policy, and was told that there is no smoking allowed in the rooms, but there is a little bucket on the porches to use as an ashtray. When I told her that my room was indeed full of smoke because of my neighbors' cigarettes, she said "Soreee." No offer of a different room or any modification of the situation.  So if you're a smoker you might really like this place. Not so much if you happen to be an asthmatic non-smoker looking for a relaxing weekend in the clean mountain air.

Snowed-in in Sunny California!

We stayed at a wonderful lakeside cabin here complete with a "roaring" fireplace, while three consecutive snowstorms dumped tons of powder on us, a few years back.

It was a totally romantic winter wonderland for us.  We had snowball fights, made a snow castle complete with a small "room", played in the snow, made "shave ice" with cream & maple syrup, and generally had a great time.

Being snowed-in was fun, since we were there anyway...and we had already packed the frig with tasty treats from town (the town is nice too).  Nobody was in the adjacent cabins...so very quiet & peaceful.  Since we spent almost all the time in the cabin, which is a few miles from the Hotel proper...we only went to the Hotel twice during a week...it was OK, but nothing compared to our cabin.  There is Skiing in the area, but we never got around to it.  The cabin made me long for the times when I used to stay in a Ski Chalet in Vermont many moons ago!

The newly renovated lakeview cabin was a fantastic bargain...huge modern bathroom, huge Kingsized bed, full kitchen, large living room with tons of windows, flat screen TV, etc...  Since it was up on the hill, we only saw the lake between breaks in the snowstorms...

It is quite a drive from Central CA, but it is to me a far better deal than what you can get in Lake Tahoe...don't care much for gambling or the crowds there...too touristy

It was the quietest, fun, & most serene week that we ever had...

We used a Living Social deal for a 2 night stay in a 1 bedroom chalet and it was a great trip!  The chalets are very well maintained, very spacious, and very comfortable.  Ours had a king bed, living room with gas fireplace, full kitchen, and dining area as well as a private deck overlooking the lake.  The chalets are located very close to the trail head that will take you on a 6-7 mile loop around the entire lake or a very short walk (0.3 mile) to the main lodge for tennis or golf.  One thing missing is any kind of pool or hot tub for guests, it would be a great addition to a beautiful mountain resort.  We will definitely be back!  For those that fly, there are two small airports nearby and a shuttle that can get you around or if you plan ahead, you can arrange for a rental car to be dropped off at the Weed airport through the car rentals in Yreka.

This is a review of the Resort, not the restaurant. We were here for a family reunion, so we ended up renting 7 of the lakeside chalets for a 3-day weekend.

The chalets themselves were spectacular. Very nicely furnished; totally comfy bed (I miss it already!); full kitchen; nice living rooms with switch on fireplace and flat-screen TV, etc. The downside of my particular unit (#110) was that the trees completely blocked any view of the lake that was just a stone's throw away. Family stayed in units from #117 down through #134, and they all had much better views....so make sure you clarify that you actually want to see the water. For what I paid per night, that was a disappointment.

So why only 3 stars? Here's my reasoning:
--Even though we booked a year in advance, the resort refused to make sure we were all clustered near each other. So my daughter and I and a few others were quite far from where we all congregated for the weekend.
--This meant I spent almost no time in my expensive cabin, and had no ready access to my food, drinks, and bathroom. It was inconvenient.
--They were so unaccommodating the year before, we ended up at Clear Lake instead. They wouldn't let us book a year in advance unless we were already regular customers.
--We had 8 who wanted to golf Saturday morning. They wouldn't let my uncle book this until the week before we arrived. Then, when he called, they let him know there was a tournament there that Saturday and we had to golf on Sunday. Why could they not have explained this earlier?
--No pool and no beachfront along the lake (it was a sharp dropoff)...so totally disappointing in that respect. The web site makes it sound like you can lounge lakefront.
--Only 1 hot tub that fits 6 for the entire lakeside chalet area.
--Only 1 picnic area with BBQs and picnic tables for the entire area. It was taken over on night one by the golf tourny guys. For the price per room, we should each have a grill.
--No fire pits

So beautiful rooms and nice service once there, but not the most accommodating resort upfront. And for the price, they should have basics like BBQs/grills, pool, etc. I'm not discouraging anyone from going, but they need to get better (especially in this economy) at providing customer service prior to your arrival.

A group of 16 went hiking on Mt. Shasta Sept.20-24th. Last night we all went to the Highland house for our last night together and a birthday of one in our group. I cannot say enough nice things about this place! First, the view if the mountain was spectacular! The wait staff were friendly, accommodating and above and beyond in service. Not only was the food wonderful ( I had the Thai salmon, done to perfection) but  they charged us no corkage fee for the two bottles of wine, let us bring in a sheet cake, which they put the candles on, cut up and served, AND poured some of brought in champagne for everyone to toast. Everyone loved the food and a great evening was had by all, thanks to the people who work here! Cudos to all!

They goofed up a cancelled reservation on a Living Social voucher.  They said the face value of the voucher will be available and later refused with a completely different explanation.  So never got the opportunity to stay here while Mt. Shasta Resort pocketed the money.

I bought a Groupon special for this place, sight/knowledge unknown, and couldn't be more pleased. I got a lakeside cabin, which has a private deck where I sat mornings, afternoons and evenings watching the ducks and kayaks float by, the sun rise and set, and listened to the birds and crickets. It was so relaxing, I can't recommend this place more highly.  WiFi was fantastic, HDTV, full kitchen, roaring gas fireplace, comfy bed, lots of space, wonderful all the way around.

It was very quiet while I was here, which suited me fine. Took a nice, long hike around the lake straight from my chalet.  Staff were all very friendly and helpful both before and during my stay.

I highly recommend this place. People who wrote reviews a couple of years ago should give this place another try.

For a resort restaurant the food was not bad.  Service was excellent and very friendly.  I had the bacon wrapped filet with Gorgonzola, it was perfectly cooked and very tender.  My wife had the shrimp which she said was good as well.  It was not mind blowing but it was certainly good and I would go back when I visit here again.  The restaurant is clean and nice but what really made the meal was service.  The waiter was very attentive and friendly.   There was one small mistake which the waiter corrected quickly and immediately.

Food during the reception was great. People were actually bagging their steak to take home.

Wow...impressive place for being way out here. We got the Premium Lakeview chalet and it is beautiful. Not to mention very clean and great attention to detail. Once we walked in, the heater was already on. That's a plus (from the cold outside). The view was fantastic, back patio facing the lake. If only lake was a bit closer, like walking distance vs having a steep incline from the patio. But that definitely didn't take away from the rest of the place. Kitchen had all the separate utensils needed, clean and ready to serve. Had salt & pepper and dishwashing pad and detergent. Shower was nice and warm. Fireplace kept room temperature. BED....soooooo COMFORTABLE!!! Like sleeping in the clouds. No bugs!! I'm so glad we stayed here to celebrate our anniversary.

My husband booked this place as a part of our honeymoon. Gorgeous golf resort. The cabins were really not that bad, LOVED the spa tub. It was definetly spa sized. I also really liked that this was close to the city and close enough for us to drive to Oregon for the day, which was a lot of fun. While we were there, if you were staying at the cabins then you saved a bunch on lunch at the resort restaurant there, the food was delicious there as well! My husband is an avid golfer and wanted to do a round there. Gorgeous, huge course. It was a lot of fun driving the golf cart around too. Not too excited about the collar rule that they have there, where you can only golf if youre wearing a shirt that has a collar, my husband had to go back to change and wouldn't have been able to play had we not brought that shirt. I would definetly return here, just the atmosphere alone was really nice.

All in all, a nice place to stay.  We had a two-bedroom lakeside chalet.  Lakeside ended up being about 60 feet above the lake with a pretty steep drop off behind our room.  Might want to keep an eye on the kids out there.

The kitchen was nice, but lacked a dishwasher and only had a small, single sink.  If you're there with a family or two, plan to do a lot of dishes.  Housekeeping has just about anything you need for the kitchen, but you'll have to go pick it up from them.  The TV is a little small for where its positioned above the gas fireplace.

My wife attempted to walk around the lake and that was a mistake.  The trail isn't finished (goes across private property at a couple spots), and several bridges were missing, which meant there were two water crossings.  Just a heads up....

We'll likely stay again, but we'll wait for a good rate.

We really enjoyed our stay here.  We stopped at several little motels in town before stopping at visitor center to ask for their recommendation. BTW.. lady their was great. She called six places including Mt. Shasta Resort. Their price was comparable to those motels. It was the correct choice. We had this adorable cabin. It was clean and well furnished. We had dinner and drinks at the resort restaurant. We ended having bar nibbles and drinks as there was a 2-man "band" playing. We had a wonderful time and would do stay here again!!!

Ups: Very clean, full kitchen, great housekeeping staff, very quiet, great to bring our 3-year old. Food was wonderful. Close to downtown and back road available to get to mountain.

Downs: The front desk person who checked us in and was there the whole time was pretty miserable. We arrived at 3:40 and were told checkin wasn't until 4 so we went upstairs for dinner. At 5 we returned and were told our chalet wasn't ready. We were allowed in by 6. The front desk person was unapologetic, told us she didn't recommend XC skiing (although there are great trails and tons of snow), and was just generally unhappy. Also, my in-laws from Florida were not pleased with the icy walkways heading to the chalet. Finally, the only other disappointment was that the spa was closed on Sundays and Mondays. We could have given them a ton of business with four of us wanting massages. We went to Evergreen Day Spa instead and were thrilled!

Very friendly. Great jacuzzi in room. Soft water so hair is clean after washing. Wall heater a bit loud. No pets and we usually travel with our dog so not sure if this will become a future stop. Overall, very enjoyable. A cabin in the woods! Wish we had more time.

Highland House

It was our last night at the Mt. Shasta Resort and my friends and I wanted to try the Resort's "fine dining" services at Highland House Restaurant.  We left our chalet around 6:45 PM and arrived at the restaurant only a few minutes later.  The host seated our party of four at a great booth overlooking the entire restaurant.  Not bad.  Until the procession of 15 girls (loud) girls entered, all chatty, all drinks in their hands, ready to celebrate either a birthday, a celebration or a party.  Their table was right in front of ours.  This must have been a prelude to the night of hell.

From this moment on, my experience at the Highland House restaurant turned to an ultimate LOW. The restaurant should have named itself LOWLAND house.

Our waitress, Courtney, greeted us before the 15 girls sat down and knew by our facial expressions that we were not happy with our seating.  So she suggested a booth by the window far far away from the girls.  We grabbed our drinks and headed over to the table.  A sigh of relief...or so we thought!

We were given a list of three dinner specials.  Two of the three I remembered because we ordered them.  There was a chicken and shrimp jambalaya over a bed of rice and a New York strip steak (I ordered the former and the men ordered the steaks).  My friend ordered the breaded chicken.  For our appetizers, we ordered the coconut shrimp and the sautéed mushrooms.  Decent appetizers but nothing to brag about.

I asked for some lemon for my water.  This took 30 minutes.

We waited for our food.

And waited.

And waited some more.

In between the waiting, a napkin was thrown at my boyfriend's head.  The other table had a bit too much alcohol and 'accidentally' threw a napkin in our direction.  They apologized but still very awkward!

Finally, enough was enough.  We had to ask the bus boy / host Jayred to check on our order because our waitress was spotted mainly at the other tables. Jayred brought over our food....or what I thought was our food. First he brought my shrimp and chicken jambalaya over which looked more like dog food rather than a special of the day.  The men ordered their steaks but one ordered medium and another medium rare. The orders were mixed up. The only order that was right was the breaded chicken and that was very below average. I think Strouffers could have done a better job.

For the majority of the time, we were all just starring at our food and wondering what we had done wrong to deserve this. Did I commit murder? What hath I done, oh Lord? My plate looked like it had been sitting under the sun baking for a few days.  I did NOT want to pay $20 for a dish that resembled something from a science experiment.  My friend suggested we tell our waitress of our dissatisfaction (if she ever decided to come by our table to check on us).  We couldn't grab Courtney because she was too busy complaining to another table that their corkage fee could not be divided into 4 separate checks.  Yes, it looked like she was giving them a hard time and she left that table flapping her wings with a "it's them, not me" attitude.  I said a silent prayer for her.

Our table finally grabbed another waitress and asked to speak to the manager.  Apparently the manager did not work that night but "I'll send Courtney over". The waitress, Courtney, finally did come over and asked us what was wrong.  Let me rephrase that, she demanded to know what was wrong with it.  She crossed her arms in anger and asked if we wanted to have the kitchen make another round of food.  Uhh, no. We've already waited an hour for our food and you want us to wait another hour?! She agreed to comp us for the food but charge us for our drinks and apologized but it was the most unprofessional apology I'd ever heard.

After our dinner, we walked over to the lounge / bar area and ordered drinks and desserts. This was a only good thing about the establishment. We ordered three drinks and two desserts. It was a good way to end a horrible night. The bartender (forgot her name) and Lance were very nice.  Wow, customer service. You do exist.

Overall - Don't come here.  You're pretty off going to a local family owned establishment back in town where your business will be appreciated and your money well spent.

A great restaurant to go with an amazing resort! I had a perfectly cooked burger with Swiss, bacon and avocado with the Cajun fries as a side and it was all great. Perfect way to fill up after a chilly day on the golf course. We also had the nicest waiter, very attentive and friendly. We'll definitely be eating here again the next time we visit!

they tried but nah!
the ingredients of our food were CHEAP! their indian curry coconut meal (whatever the name was) was pretty bad, excessive spices overpowered the taste of the veggies, their salad was full of feta cheese, cranberries and nuts that were rancid... really guys: you charge a good price so focus on quality!

the restaurant had lovely views and customer service was ok

I'm going to give the resort four stars because of their phenomenal clam chowder! The beer on tap was a good selection, bartender was friendly, staff was friendly and location was clean.

We stayed at the resort, so this was a natural place for us to eat, at least one night. We also ended up eating breakfast there the next morning.

The dinner was delicious and the service was awesome. Our server was very friendly yet professional and sneaked us an extra dessert when we were really going to order one. "Oh no, this one touched the one you ordered."

Breakfast was lower key -- nothing special. What you'd expect out of a breakfast. We showed up a bit early but were seated anyway. Service not as enthusiastic, but breakfast is breakfast, right?

The one thing I remember was how rude some of the customers were to the staff. "We have tee time. Chop chop."

Seriously. I guess that's what happens when you're an entitled golfer.

Overall, definitely would recommend eating here, whether you're staying here or not.

I had drinks on the deck of the Highland House Restaurant on a beautiful summer evening.  I didn't eat so I cannot comment on the food.  The place was crowded with people, there was live entertainment and generally a good vibe.  We were greeted by a young waiter who offered us a place to sit and two menus that were covered in grease and bits of food.  Honestly I didn't want to touch them.  We ordered a bottle of white wine which wasn't chilled and sloppily poured into mismatched glasses.  I wasn't impressed by the place.  Overall it's dated, a little dirty and overpriced.  It's sad that the management doesn't take the time or make the effort to make this spot a shining gem.  In a town with few options for food and drink this place seems to have great potential.  Until it changes I won't return.

Just spent the most spectacular weekend at this lovely jewel on Lake Siskiyou. My chalet was comfortable and romantic, overlooking the lake. The food was beautifully presented and amazingly delicious. The grounds are breathtaking including the golf course (although I don't play); I highly recommend Sacred Mountain spa for a fabulously rejuvenating experience that will leave you refreshed in mind, body and soul. By far the best part of the resort are their staff who treat you like a long lost friend not just a guest. Yes everyone was very professional but also friendly and catered to my every need almost without asking. For value, service and accommodations I could not recommend Mt. Shasta Resort more highly.

We generally love coming up here, and we've done the Golf Escape deal a number of times, and always enjoyed it. The golf course is fun and beautiful and the staff friendly and helpful. And yes I'm coming back. But I have to relate one golf course experience that left me going WTF!? Long story short: On the 15th hole, I hit my first drive in the trees right, and a provisional in the trees left. It took me a while find and hit my first one. When I went to retrieve my provisional, a groundskeeper pulled it out of his pocket and made me identify it before he'd return it. It was as much his demeanor as anything that was bizarre and troubling. REALLY CREEPY GUY WITH A CREEPY VIBE.

My fiancee and I stayed and played at this resort this weekend, and absolutely Loved it. We got a great deal on a chalet, golf, and lunch. The course was fun, narrow, and challenging, pace of play was good. We checked in to our chalet #207, and it was great, big room, walking distance to the lake. We will be back for an extended stay. Families were outside BBQ'ing, just a great place. Pro shop was helpful, and friendly, and the girl at the front desk when we checked in on 7/19 was so friendly and nice.
Loved it all, Mount Shasta looming in the background, awesome place to stay even if you don't golf, plus they have a spa for massages and facials
The only negative was the restaurant, you can find my review under Highland House Restaurant

I always eat here when I'm in Mount Shasta and have always been impressed with the taste and quality of food. I've had excellent clam chowder, tasty crab cakes, yummy burgers, tender and delicate fish and chips, garlic fries to die for, prime rib that is wonderful and California Benedict for breakfast that was excellent. They have a great selection of beer and wine and the service has always been great. Plus, you get a 10% discount when staying at the resort. Good stuff!

We've stayed here a couple of time now.  Very nice setting, great Golf Course, and lots of things to do nearby.  Price is reasonable if you want to take advantage of the kitchens in the units.  The restaurant is great, great food and service. Very Nice interior for date night or dressing up a bit. Nice full service bar. Outside seating when it's nice is awsome.
The units have been remodeled, some better than others but overall nicely done.  Here are just a couple of things:  1) their cancellation policy is unreasonable, but, you do know what you're getting into.  For us, we will risk trying to get a last minute booking versus being stuck with the booking (it's all about choices).  2) The train.  The train is much closer than you think. This time was over the top - We have a house in Truckee and the train whistle in the distance is soothing; here however, every night about 3-4 trains pass by and between the train whistle and the stretching of the wheels on the tracks, you don't get a great night's sleep.  Overall very nice, we would stay there again, just a couple of things keeping it from being great.

We drove up to this resort from San Francisco as part of a combined fishing, golfing and bird watching trip in North Central California.

We were delighted with the lake-view one bedroom chalet we stayed in.  It was very spacious and had a view of Lake Syskiyou through the trees.  Nicely appointed, very clean and comfortable and quiet.   AC and Heat in the chalets.  Fold out sofa in common area with folding door to bedroom.

The Resort has amazing views of Mt. Shasta.  There is an excellent restaurant in town (Trinity Café), and is near great fly fishing.  The resort has an amazingly scenic golf course which winds up and down the very sloped forest of the resort.  (Be warned, fairways are narrow and extra balls are a must!)

We chose to eat breakfasts in our chalet and went to town to dinner so cannot comment on the food at the resort.

We will definitely stay here again if in the area!

We had such a beautiful time at this resort. My husband went fishing and my mom and I went to the spa. We stayed in a Lakeview chalet #144 and the place was beautiful and the view was wonderful.  I wish the water would have been higher but it was beautiful.

My husband and I have stayed here 7+ times ... it is one of our favorite getaways!  Let me tell you why:
We always get a Lakeview chalet which consists of a bedroom, bathroom, living room, kitchen, dining area and mudroom.  It is a fantastic spot with lots of windows and a deck with a view of Lake Siskiyou (it is right there!). Our chalets have always been clean and comfortable, including the King bed, and the fireplace is romantic!

My husband golfs and really enjoys the course, although not-so-much the inconsistent hours and service at the Pro Shop. Good prices though; and the view of Mount Shasta?  To die for!

For fun we like to hike around Lake Siskiyou, window-shop downtown, go to the Goat for cocktails and hit up Mike and Tony's for homemade gnocchi. Mt. Shasta is a great little town.

The spa is fine and the restaurant/bar is fine, but come here for the chalet!  Look for a Groupon/Living Social deal and save some money.

We just played golf at Mt. Shasta Golf and Resort. It was a beautiful golf course and the man behind the counter in the golf shop ( Rod Sims) made my day. He rapped a Happy Birthday song to me and made both my husband and myself go on the course with a smile on our face. Must have been why we played so well.
We will be back. It was a great day!!!

Terrible food! We had a gift certificate here and luckily we didn't have to pay for the food.  We had the veggie penne, shrimp scampi and tri tip and each dish was flavorless. Meat was dry and chewy and the pastas had no flavor...salt couldn't even make it better! Not to mention it was expensive!  The best part of the meal was the salad with good blue cheese dressing. Don't waste your time or money here.

Driving to Mount Shasta, I was just a little nervous about the quality of our room. We had gotten an incredible Groupon deal and I tend to be a bit of a skeptic about good deals leading to quality products. Mount Shasta Resort did a great job proving me wrong.

It starts with the gorgeous golf course. The clubhouse also houses the resort lobby and restaurant/bar. Staff was friendly as they gently explained that if you arrive on a Monday it will probably be mid-afternoon before they can check you in due to extremely high weekend volume.  No problem, they gave us a map through town and directions for places to explore for a couple of hours.

Heading to the room, I was a little taken aback by the exterior of the chalets. After seeing the golf course, I wasn't expecting this campground atmosphere. All I can tell you is wait to judge until you step inside.

Our room had been billed as a "lakeside chalet". Again, ever cautious about getting my hopes up after past lake or ocean view rooms being a block away from any such thing, my heart begin to sink. Chin up, we walked in and Lordy, what a view! Off the private deck of our very private chalet, was the sparkling lake only 30-40 feet away. We were both a little in shock about how nice the room was. It was pretty silent as we grabbed our bags and just took it all in.

So spacious, clean, contemporary and tastefully decorated. There was a full kitchen and dining area, complete with everything you need to make your own meals. They had thought of so many details, including silverware, knives, potholders, plates, even placemats. A full size oven and frig/freezer made me wish we would have just stopped and gotten something to whip up.

A mid-size flat screen television was built into the wall above a gas fireplace. This really made for cozy nights to snuggle on the plush couch or overstuffed chair. A huge skylight in the middle of the living room really brightened things up.

It was just a perfect space to get comfortable. Nothing too fancy or overdone, just right to kick back and enjoy the scenery.

I am updating due to the manager calling me as soon as I forwarded my yelp to the resorts email. I was pretty impressed with her fast call and she seemed to understand why I felt soooo uncomfortable with the customer service and she insured me that she would work with her staff. She even credited back our full cost for the meal which was very appreciated. I was having the buyers remorse feeling especially since I don't have tons of money right now. She also insured me she was there and I could have asked for her then too. Anyways her call did help me feel better. Hope the staff can remember we pay for a pleasant experience and good food while eating out.

I wish I could have more to say about this place, but the past times I've been the service has been exceptionally bad.  The chefs have FORGOTTEN to make my food the past two times.  Service is slow, and the food takes a long time.  The only reason this place gets two stars is because of the fantastic view.  The restaurant overlooks a golf course, Castle Crags, and Mount Shasta.

Stayed in the Woodland for business leisure.  The jacuzzi was spacious for two and clean.  The bathroom/shower is a little outdated but it doesn't matter because you'll spend most of your time in the jacuzzi and room anyways.  The entire area/community was peaceful and serene.  Definitely a great get away location!

We have consistently enjoyed a nice lunch every time we visit this lounge/restaurant. We bring our small children (5 and under) and they have a nice selection of kid meals. The restaurant and lounge both have nice windows and views of the course; the restaurant has better views of the vista.  They are flexible with their menus; you can sit in the lounge and order from the restaurant menu and vice versa.
The menu has a nice selection of salads, sandwiches, pasta, and burgers. I ordered the California burger; delicious but beware that the servings are huge! I had opted for the meatball minestrone soup (delicious) instead of french fries or a salad and by the time my burger arrived, I was full. Everyone else at the table enjoyed their entrees (kids included). Nice value, attentive staff and lovely setting. Highly recommend.

Would have opted to dine at another Mt. Shasta establishment had we not had gift certificates here as part of our resort package. This is not what I consider "fine dining." I don't consider myself to be a snob, but this is not what I was expecting.  It was nice that the restaurant was pretty much dead, so we practically had the place to ourselves (on the other hand,  is it just that it's the off-season or is that a sign that the place sucks?)

We started off with the Brie in Puff Pastry.  It was served with apple slices and candied walnuts.  I didn't realize it would come out sitting in a pool of honey.  It's basically a dessert.  Of course it was tasty, but in hindsight, we really didn't need to be eating a whole wheel of cheese before our meal.

Pros: Friendly staff, DELIGHTFUL blue cheese dressing and salad. I was pleased that they put beets and carrots on it! :) My husband opted for the Caesar salad and the dressing was equally as tasty.  Good Filet and side veggies.

Cons: Standard store-bought dinner rolls. Meh. Coconut shrimp (if that name is even applicable) had barely any coconut, mostly just breading.  Basically just standard fried shrimp, most likely frozen. I couldn't finish them (this may or may not had to do with said wheel of cheese mentioned above). The biggest con of the night: that OVERLY SALTED rice!  It's just basic rice with what looks like tiny carrot flakes in it but packs a salty punch.  Not sure if that is standard for this place or if the lid to the salt container fell off mid-salting back in the kitchen.  If you are sodium-sensitive, opt for the baked potato instead.

Everytime I visit my family up in Shasta I play this golf course, and love it! The greens are great. The tee boxes are well kept. The staff is friendly. And most importantly the views are incredible! If you can stay in one of the chalets by the lake, I would highly recommend it.  They are well maintained and are so beautiful.  I love that they had a full kitchen with pots and pans, plates, glasses, etc.  I couldn't have asked for more.  The cabin came with free wifi, which was awesome for our group of guys, who spent  every moment doing something on the Internet.

Huge plus... we had 6 adults in the chalet, and there was hot water for all of us to take showers in the morning.  Beds were comfy with lots of pillows.

If you leave a tip for housekeeping, just be sure  to put it in the envelope, or else they won't take it, even if it's in the table.

We tried to go to the restaurant a couple of times, but they were never open.  Front desk/reservations is not 24 hours/7days a week, so it is a surprise for those of us from the bigger cities.
