Staying here is like visiting family without the emotional baggage.  I have been in both the Edson and Magic Mountain rooms.  While there are common areas, the rooms are private and luxuriously appointed. The deck and grounds are large and beautifully landscaped.  Plan on stargazing from one of the decks. David, the owner is attentive and professional. I was just there--but I want to go back!

This B & B is one of the nicest I've ever been to when one takes into consideration great charm of the residence, rooms and gardens , sparkling cleanliness, warm hospitality of the InnKeeper including the abundant breakfast and all day healthy snacking he makes available to his guests - all in the gloriously beautiful surroundings of Mt. Shasta.  In addition, my friend and I had a last minute special request for a tour of the Mountain, which he arranged with exactly the perfect person for us.  David is incredibly gracious, a fact that is evident in every aspect of this Inn.  I intend to come back soon, this time with my husband. It doesn't get better than this!

What a treat this place is! Not only is David an amazing host and chef, he is wonderful to talk to and makes a very comfortable space to be in. My boyfriend and I were spoiled and had the entire place to ourselves the first few nights, but even with other people in the house (on our 3rd night) it did not feel crowded. The beds are INCREDIBLE (both my bf and I got one when we went home), the entire house is clean and the breakfast area is very comfortable. Every room has a gorgeous view of the mountain, there is a very cozy/intimate 2 person hot tub and a sauna on the property. Staying here saved me my insanity during the holiday season. I would HIGHLY recommend staying here to anyone, you will not be dissapointed.

David is clearly an experienced host and anticipated our questions and needs.  We felt very comfortable in our downstairs room with access to our own private bath across the hall.  The yard is beautifully landscaped with a pond and thoughtfully placed plants.  There is a lovely meditation alcove made of the cascading branches of a tree and interlaced with tiny lights that make it a very magical place to sit and relax amidst nature in the evening.

David should re-name his bed and breakfast  the Heavenly Inn retreat and Spa!!! When we pulled into the driveway, I could already tell this was going to be magical. The house is gorgeous inside, and decorated perfectly. The backyard is just a perfect with a jacuzzi and sauna, swinging chairs and of course down comforters for when you get cold! Our room was beautiful and the bathroom was stocked with my favorite lotion, sooo it was a winner in my book. There was an upstairs living room, just for guests, with the most amazing foot massagers, a stocked pantry with yummy snacks, and a large collection of all the newest movies. David, the owner, is so genuine you can really tell that he cares about his busines and his guests. He made the yummiest whole grain pancakes and organic granola with fresh fruit,,, ugh im getting hungry just thinking about them... so do yourself a favor, make the drive to stay at the Inn and you'll be so happy you did!!

David is a perfect host, excellent breakfast chef and truly is what makes the experience of staying in his home wonderful.  He welcomes his guests into his beautiful home, the decor of which instantly makes guests comfortable and relaxed.  David's attention to details makes every room warm and inviting.  After staying only one night it felt as if I'd been there a dozen times and we were old friends.

If you are looking for the best B and B in Mount Shasta with the warmest Inn Keeper, then look no further. Mount Shasta Inn, Retreat and Spa offers spectacular views, beautiful rooms and one of the nicest, kindest Inn Keepers, Dave, that you will ever want to meet. Dave has a first class environment and accommodations while being just a quick walk from downtown. The bedding is first class and you will feel like King or Queen. We will be regulars at this place when we visit the incredible Mount Shasta. Thank you Dave for creating this beautiful place for visitors.

David was such a sweet host!

A few rooms have fireplaces and they all have tempur-pedic mattresses.  There's a relaxation room upstairs with dvds you can bring to your room.  The rooms are well-equipped and very comfortable.  David lets you use the kitchen and even provides snacks!  He makes really wonderful breakfasts and a great conversationalist.  In the mornings you can awaken to a view of Mt. Shasta from the inn.  Please stay here if you ever visit Mt. Shasta!  Without a doubt, I'm sure that my trip at Mt. Shasta would not have been the same if I had stayed elsewhere.

Just got back from a wonderful weekend at the Shasta Mount Inn.  I wish all my vacations could be this awesome.

The house is lovely and FEELS so good.  All the wonderful things that other people have written about the hospitality, the rooms, the beds, the breakfasts, etc, are ALL TRUE.  And yes, the best thing about this place is David. He is the perfect host and by far one of the BEST massage therapists I have ever encountered.  He intuitively knows exactly what you need.  Words are woefully inadequate to describe what this man can do for your body and spirit.  Here is a truly lovely human being who is passionate about his work.

You will love your stay here, and don't forget to get a massage! I loved it so much I already booked my next stay.

This is a wonderful 4 bedroom B&B and also a spa. David the owner runs the place and also has fixed up the place to be an amazing relaxing retreat. The amenities are endless and the breakfasts are delicious.
I only had breakfast here but all the beds are temperpedic and the accommodations are luxurious.
David is also a wealth of information on the Shasta area and community.

Fantastic host and a great massage!

They said I was crazy, it couldn't be done -- wait, they probably said it _shouldn't_ be done, but that's besides the point -- I had decided to climb Mount Shasta twice in one week with 3 days to recover in between. I'm not an experienced backpacker, although I am active, enjoy hiking and had climbed Shasta back in 2002. One of the smartest things I did was to book a massage at the Shasta Mountain Inn Retreat & Spa for the day after the first climb.

The massage room was very comfortable and inviting and put me at ease the second I walked in. David was the perfect masseuse and targeted the muscles exactly where they needed it. It was easily the best massage I've ever had.

A few days later I climbed Shasta again, reached the summit and wasn't very sore the day after. I attribute my recovery and success in part to the massage I received at the Shasta Mountain Inn.

Now I'm looking for an excuse to go back up to Mount Shasta so I can book a stay at the Bed and Breakfast. (I stayed at a budget hotel this time)

This former mayor's house is a wonderful B&B in the village of Mount Shasta.

The location is ideal, just a few blocks from the small, downtown area (walkable), and still pleasantly idyllic with gorgeous views of snowy, magnanimous Mount Shasta from the bedrooms and the porch swings.

The interior is charming, comfortable, cozy, and delightfully decorated. The bedrooms are also pleasantly presented, with large, comfortable tempurpedic mattresses on top of classic, ornate wooden bed frames.

David, the Innkeeper is welcoming, gracious, friendly, and attentive, and clearly has paid attention to every possible detail of comfort one could both imagine and desire in a B&B, from the wine glasses to the barrel sauna. The place is impeccably run. He should be teaching class on the "perfect B&B".

You will not be disappointed. Our visit was a highlight of our trip.

The beds were phenomenally comfortable, the inn was very cozy, and Dave (innkeeper) is a great cook and host. We enjoyed his hospitality as we stopped at Mt. Shasta on our honeymoon road trip up to Oregon. One of the best things about the inn is that it's not cluttered but is welcoming. I highly recommend the MountINN if you find yourself with lodging needs in Mt. Shasta!

Finally got to stay and so glad we did.

David is so welcoming.  If he knows about when you will be arriving he will look out for you and come out to greet you as you get out of your car.  A welcome and tour of the house and the snack cabinets comes before the paperwork.

We were in the Shasta Secret room.  It was larger than I remembered from my tour of the house a year ago.  In addition to the Queen bed, there is a recliner (made good use of that) and a small table and two chairs.  There is plenty of closet space.  We didn't make use of the fireplace, it's July after all.  The shower is quite small.  It was quite a challenge to shave my legs.

David prepared a wonderful breakfast every morning.  The first morning we were treated to scrambled eggs and vegetables served with roasted potatoes and a fresh fruit cup.  The second morning was cream cheese and fresh blueberry stuffed French toast.  Our last morning we were offered pancakes and fresh fruit.  David also offers eggs served any style and a huge selection of breads and cereals.

I rarely sleep comfortably away from home, but our room was very quiet and the bed better than our one at home (and our home bed is also a Tempurpedic mattress.

I highly recommend the Shasta MountInn, for the comfort, the location, the breakfasts, the snacks, and most of all for David.

AS A SOLO TRAVELER: I was nervous, being a woman of about 5'4 125 pounds, traveling clear across the country to a place where I knew not one person. Staying at Shasta Mountinn was THE BEST thing that I could have done. David- the host- was so warm and familiar in spirit. I was immediately comfortable. David also directed me where to go for everything from metaphysical quests to dinner for the night.

AS A SPIRITUAL PERSON: There were books and DVD's that related to things such as The Law of Attraction, Angels, and other types of enlightenment in a collection upstairs.

AS A CONSUMER: This is bang for your buck. David not only provided all of the accommodations of a hotel, but went a step further. He was taking care of my needs before I could request them half of the time. My prime example came when I called myself going up to the Mount Shasta without a coat,  boots, or gloves. David suggested I borrow those items from his collection before I left.

Other perks: 1.The hot tub 2.Calf a foot massagers 3.Views of Mount Shasta and Black Butte 4. Mount Shasta is a straight shot from this location.

We stayed here two nights in August.  David is amazing and super detailed oriented.  We were booked to stay in two different rooms, one on the first night and a different room the second night due to availability & cost.  The morning after our first night, he said we could remain in the original room due to a cancellation.  Now that is service!  Very kind & thoughtful.  David was very helpful down to the detail as to when we were leaving to go to Castle Lake, he asked if we remembered towels(which we forgot).  The food for breakfast was outstanding!  We enjoyed sitting in the sauna.  He also has a pantry with snacks that you can help yourself to which is an incredible detail!  (A variety of tasty snacks, too.). I enjoyed sitting on the glider swing on the patio and listening to the water fountain bubble in the backyard.  The bed was INCREDIBLY comfortable!  My husband and I were reeling over what a great nights sleep we had in the bed.  Another favorite part was the jacuzzi bathtub in our room.  I put a little too much bubble bath in(only a couple capfuls) & my bubbles almost went over. Very relaxing with a window right next to the tub for fresh mountain air to stream in.  Can't wait to come back!  What a relaxing place where you feel very taken care of!  Thank you, David!

Shasta MountInn Retreat is absolutely the best bed and breakfast I have ever had the good fortune to stay in ~ and I have stayed in many!

The Innkeeper, David, is one of the most genuinely kind people I have ever met.  Within one day of staying there I felt truly like we were family.  He is so present and generous and caring.  He truly loves what he does and it shows through and through.

David has, with great consideration, thought of every thing that you could want when you are home away from home. The house is immaculately kept, he cooks a gorgeous made-to-order full breakfast every morning for his guests and offer snacks and tea throughout the day.

The kitchen is available for use to cook and prepare whatever you like, which can be both cost-effective and a nice change from going out all the time.

The bed was so so comfy and the views of Shasta - gorgeous...The hot tub, which does NOT use chlorine, and the sauna were so nice and private.

Everything at the Shasta MountInn caters to the discerning traveler who is health-conscious, eco-savvy, spiritual, and loves the finer things in life.

As if Mt. Shasta itself was not enough to warrant returning...I will come again to Shasta MountInn Retreat just to visit David and his wonderful wonderful Inn.

I've not stayed in a B and B before and now I am spoiled.  My fiance and I stayed over one night this winter.  It was everything previous reviewers said.  I've been burned by reviews before and was more than pleased by the experience.

David told us his goal is for the B and B to be a place whereby you feel at home but without the stressors/distractions of staying with family.  Mission accomplished!  He was warm, welcoming, and hospitable every step of the way.  The house is clean, nicely furnished, and full of thoughtful touches.  (video library, soups, lotions, well stocked fridge, etc.)

We used the hot tub, fireplace, and watched a movie. We awoke with leisure and a generous breakfast was served.

    An awesome experience.  Go Dave!

Stellar. Incredible home and grounds. Very clean, nicely designed, relaxing, quiet, on and on. David is awesome. Took me to the bank and back again when I forgot my wallet. He's there when you need him otherwise he makes you feel as if this is your home. Loved the sauna and hot tub as well as the 90 minute massage. I've never had a Lomi massage (though Ive had many others, bit of a spa freak) and it definitely helped my ailments. Highly recommend!

Read all other other reviews. They are dead on. As David told me, "My house is your house" and he means it. I'm definitely coming back for a longer stay.

A massage therapist / Inn keeper combo? Who would have thought that would work? Only in Northern California I guess. And as odd as it sounds, it works - spectacularly.

Let me state upfront, while I love a good massage and will pay ridiculous prices to get one, I'm really not a B&B kind of person. All the fussy antiques and lace, uncomfortable creaky beds, thin walls and ::shudders:: breakfast with STRANGERS!?! Really, it's more than an Introvert can bare.   However, this place is no creepy old B&B. Sure, there are antiques and beautiful landscaped gardens, but this place doesn't feel or smell like grandmas.

Attention to every detail was seen throughout the house. And with only four rooms you don't have to put up with too many "strangers". The three couples who were there when I was we're too weird or overly chatty and I felt as comfortable as an introvert can feel sharing a delicious breakfast with them the next morning.

A couple of other good things to note, there aren't many options, but you can walk right from the Inn downtown to eat or shop. I found that very convenient. The views of Shasta are spectacular. And while it might seem odd to have a massage from the innkeeper, I did have an awesome massage here as well.

I hope to come back one day.

OMG! This is the place if you are visiting the Mt. Shasta area.  The Inn is gorgeous with each room beautifuly decorated and David takes care of every detail.  You will be very pleased with your decision.  We stayed for four nights and wish we could have stayed longer.  Every amenity you want - you have!  The Inn is close to downtown and the views are awesome.  David is a great guy and you will feel like family staying at his awesome place.  You will be totally happy with your decision to stay here.  Don't waste your time looking for another place to stay - this is the ONE !!

My wife and I had a fantastic time here. The words "consummate host" fail to capture just how on top of things and caring David is. When I left I thought I'd be writing a long review with lots of details. Sorry, instead I'll just say that everything worked together to create a magical experience in Shasta for us and we couldn't have hoped for a better home base...one which was magic in and of itself; from conversation with wonderful people over a lovely home cooked breakfast to the unexpected awesomeness of the sauna and hot tub. Wonderful memories, we'll be back to create more. Thank you David!

We just had a great weekend at Shasta MountainInn. We met Dave, the owner, who took great care of us the whole time. He was super friendly and very interesting to listen to. In addition to running the Inn,, he also does massage. He is a warm, caring person who really seems to love what he is doing. The room we stayed in was absolutely beautiful, with a great view of Mount Shasta from the bed. In addition the room had a fireplace, Jacuzzi and a really comfortable bed. The grounds are lovely and there is an outdoor Jacuzzi, a sauna and a place to eat. Dave let us use his kitchen to cook a small lunch which we had out on the deck. It is not the cheapest place in Shasta but I think it is worth spending the extra money to get this kind of good Shasta experience. And the breakfast that Dave prepares are really very good! We had pancakes, bacon, eggs the way we wanted, granola, yogurt and lots more. Even though the place is small, it feels very private there. And it is a five minute walk to downtown Shasta. Dave really makes everyone feel right at home. And he seems to have a lot of repeat guests. It is totally worth spending the little extra to get this kind of experience in Shasta.

Shasta MountInn Retreat is absolutely the best bed and breakfast we have ever found.  David - the Innkeeper - instantly becomes your friend and before leaving there you even feel like he might be family!  The attention to every detail is fabulous.  The house and grounds are immaculate, and the made-to-order full breakfast each morning is delicious.  There is a kitchen upstairs and down which you can use if you prefer to prep your own meals while staying, and the rooms are wonderful with the most comfy mattresses and amazing views of Mt. Shasta. The hot tub, which does NOT use chlorine, and the sauna were both private, and the outside seating areas were divine to enjoy the evening and night stars.  We highly recommend the massage David offers as well.  It was probably the best I've ever had.
It is truly a retreat, and was a highlight of our trip.  We cannot wait to go back!

What a lovely place and lovely host. We stayed in the Twin Peaks room and had wonderful views of Black Butte and Mt. Shasta. It felt very much like being at "home" -- warm, comfy, welcoming, safe, friendly, and DELICIOUS breakfast every morning. David was such a sweet, thoughtful host -- he didn't mind letting us sleep in and cooking us more of a brunch than breakfast each morning hehe And the icing on the cake: jumping into the hot tub and sauna after returning from a long hike -- perfection. Oh! And the foot massage machines while watching the SF Giants on TV, not bad! We'll be back :) Many thanks and blessings, David!

How to describe our stay at Shasta MountInn. Well, from the fireplace in the room, to the small stream that gurgled outside our bay window at night, to the old-fashioned Victorian-house decor, to the deep tub with jets, to the outdoor hot tub -- this was, hands down, the best bed and breakfast we've ever experienced. David creates a truly relaxing setting for his guests. The breakfasts are healthy and delicious. I recommend that you try sitting out on the porch, staring at the snow-covered mountain, as a thunderstorm rolls by, should the weather oblige. We couldn't have been more delighted with our stay -- you'd be missing out if you stay anywhere else during your time at Mt. Shasta!

Dave is a perfect host from greeting us warmly to allowing us to quickly slide into the hot tub and steam room to relax after our long drive.  The house is a lovingly restored victorian with stunning views of Mt. Shasta.  The rooms were very comfortable with a  separate sitting area.  Dave offered to take us to his yoga studio which was much appreciated and further helped us relax.  He was ready and willing to make anything we chose for breakfast working with my wife's vegan diet to my desire for his delicious blueberry pancakes with homemade maple syrup.  Dave was friendly, accessible and gave us the space we needed to recharge.  We would definitely visit again.  Thanks, Dave!

Staying here was a spiritual experience!  I could honestly not imagine staying anywhere else in Shasta because this place is perfect. David is one of the kindest people I've met and his generous spirit helped me to feel right at home.  Mountain views from my window, nice sheets and soft bed, crystal singing bowls i took back to my room and played at night next to the room's fireplace (complete with fresh firewood each night), super awesome cedar-sauna, and strawberry-peanut butter pancake breakfast kindly made vegan per my request.  There is a lovely meadow and a peace meditation garden within close walking distance.  I enjoyed my stay in the "secret room" here immensely and would recommend Shasta MountInn highly!  The perfect complementary atmosphere to the Shasta area's special magic.

This place is the place you've been looking for your whole life!  From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave you are taken care of.  Delicious nutritious breakfast every morning.  Snack cupboard full of all kinds of delicious treats you can access 24/7.  Amazing views of Shasta right outside your window.  The most comfortable bed.  Sauna and hot tub right outside your door.  Even if you happen to forget that hiking in the snow in the sun will result in bad sunburn - David will provide you with some Aloe Vera.   He even gave me a bag to fill up with treats from the cupboard for on the road.  You should stay here when in Shasta - because quite frankly anywhere else you stay won't be as good!  David needs to open up one of his bed and breakfasts everywhere I travel!
