We had a great stay Thur-Sun. It is very close to everything and still really quiet. Even though it is at the Airport it is not in the flight path or next to any major roads. It is tucked off between water and residential. The room was very comfortable with lots of amenities. Comfortable beds and bedding, huge bathroom, Flat screen TV, big desk with pull out table and every plug you need built into the top of the desk. The lighting was well designed - no glaring light in the middle of the room. The clock radio worked with my iPhone. In room coffee/Tea was a very clean pod system and included green tea. The closet was armoire style near the beds - this is very nice for unpacking and packing. We ate dinner at the fancy restaurant. The service was great the entree was very tasty but skip the desert - it was uninspired (get some pastries at Azucar instead). The cafe was very convenient and friendly. This hotel is next to Homewood Suites.

I loved Balboa Park - don't just go to the Zoo see the whole park, it is amazing. I also recommend Brigantine for seafood. There is one very close by.

Do not use this hotel for an event that requires a block of rooms! Their staff were inept, unorganized, and generally unable to keep ANYTHING straight. Very disappointed. It added a lot of stress to our wedding weekend.

This is a brand new hotel in a nice area near Point Loma. It is on an old military base that has been completely redone into a really nice retail/residential space. The hotel is in a very convenient location; plenty of surface parking. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The pool and hot tub were nice. There is a HUGE park and walk along the river immediately behind the hotel. Don't miss the opportunity to take a stroll around - it is wonderful! The room itself was tastefully decorated and everything was new and clean. The free internet was good; my only complaint was that the free internet was a little slow because of course they want you to upgrade to the paid internet.

This is a very clean and new hotel. I booked my room through American Airlines (which used Priceline) so they treated me a little different than had I booked direct through Marriott. It is a bit hard to find but a very clean hotel. will definitely stay again. Highly priced but apparently reasonable for the area.

My family recently stayed here for a AANA Convention for three days.  I too wasn't expecting too much, but was pleasantly surprised. Check-in was quick and the Front Desk were polite.  We even checked in two hours early, and didn't hit a snag.  Our room on the 4th floor was clean and tastefully decored.  There was a free coffee machine in the room, and a small refrigerator.  The a/c worked excellent and wasn't overly loud and pushed alot of cool air.  All amenities that were listed on the hotel fact sheet were present and in working order.  We had to call the Front Desk once though, upon check-in, we noticed that the toilet paper roll was almost used up and hadn't been replaced by Housekeeping.  We called and literally within a minute, we had two fresh rolls delivered to us.  Amazing!
The Positives,
The breakfast buffet in the hotel lobby was above average.  Scrambled eggs, sausage links, bacon, home fries, rotating breakfast hash (1st day was corned beef, 2nd day was pastrami hash) various cereals, bananas, an eggs to order bar, assorted breads and cold products ie: yogurt, cottage cheese and blueberries .  On the first day tried the eggs to order bar and requested two eggs over easy.  The worker executed a perfectly cooked over easy, but I did notice that she failed to pick out two egg shells that was obviously dropped into the pan.  And at $12.50 a person, is competitively priced for local restaurants and is all you can eat.  For children the cost is $6.25.  We did not eat dinner or lunch here so cannot comment about the quality.  The Deli shop serves free coffee from a thermos from about 6am to around 8ish at night, in addition to serving Starbucks and deli sandwiches made to order.  The 24 hour gym was decent and clean.  The universal they had was a bit noisy for my taste, and I felt like I was making a racket in the morning.  They have 2 ellipticals and 3 treadmills, all top of the line with private monitors so you can watch your own channel.  There is also a flat screen on the wall and a water cooler dispensing chilled water.  The free weights they offered were only dumbbells, from 5# up to 45#, but they are rubber coated and reek like a tire.  It was actually overwhelming the tire smell, but they are new..so possibly the aroma will decrease in time.
The pool area is a decent size for the hotel and is heated.  There is a gas fire pit just outside of the pool gate with comfortable chairs for sitting in, the whole area was extremely clean and well maintained.

Now the negatives.
Not much actually...a cracked trash can liner and until our final day the ice machine on the 4th floor was not working and we had to go down a floor.  And that's it!
All in all, we were happy staying here and would stay here again.

Excellent customer service but the facility is still a 4 star hotel charging 5 star rates.  Get a poolside room for the best view. Keurig coffee machines in the rooms but only staleilk dust for cream.  Exercise room yes but with only 3 of 4 machines operable on my visit. Terrific free shuttle to nearby airport.  Food is good but not remarkable so I won't.  Pleasant stay overall but rates way too high for a Courtyard.

My family and I stayed here this past weekend and was very impressed with the level of service we received. We were originally going to stay downtown at the marina however, they were sold out so they changed our reservation to the airport/Liberty Station location. At first I was a little hesitant because it didn't seem like there was much to do around the hotel and not much entertainment in walking distance.

Upon checking in the front desk employees were all very helpful and nice. The rooms we got were great- no view, but nice. The rooms are very spacious, clean and new. The king rooms have a sofa and dining area where the sofa can turn into a queen bed! This was a great perk.

The hotel grounds are nice and new. The pool area is a little small but works out well since it's not a luxury hotel in a busy area. The outside grounds of the hotel are very nice! The bay is right behind the hotel and there is a boardwalk where people run/walk/stoll by.

There are some shops nearby to walk to however, not much entertainment in walking distance. Unless you rent/have a car, you'll be needing a taxi to get almost anywhere.

The hotel overall is great and we're very pleased with our stay.

this is a great, new Courtyard Marriott that is VERY close to the airport.  i would highly recommend staying here.

there is a starbucks, 2 very good in-house restaurants, and plenty of other excellent eating choices just a few minutes walking distance away (see my Tender Greens review).

the decor is modern and up-to-date.  the staff is very courteous and helpful.

definitely one of the better hotels i've stayed in.

Recently organized my company's sales meeting at this Courtyard. Service was top noch from the banquet staff to the front desk. The meeting rooms are spacious with high ceilings. Also free wireless in the meeting rooms plus guest rooms. So convenient especially when one is trying to get work done in between meetings. My room was spacious and elegantly decorated.

Stayed her on a recent trip to SD.  Hubby had stayed here a few weeks ago and loved the location - which is great.  Walking distance to nice retail complex with Trader Joe's and a couple of great restaurants.  In the opposite direction...more restaurants and a big old Navy ship right in the parking lot.  Then there is a great walking/running/biking path/bridge that goes over to the Spanish Landing park area.  It's an easy walk with kids and there is a small playground right along the water.  When you get over the pedestrian bridge you have to go underneath the Harbor Dr. bridge which looks a little sketchy but once you get out of there it's nice again.

The hotel itself is very nice - it is a newer facillity and better than I was expecting for the Courtyard name.  The room was a little small but luxurious.  We had a king bed and a smallish sofa that pulled out which was fine for the kids.  Free wifi and plug-in internet both.  Tons of free parking.  Airplane noise not bad at all, you hear a plane every now and again but not overwhelming.  We even slept with the balcony door open one night.  The only downside of that is that someone was smoking outside on the patio two floors below and I could smell it.  Also - small fridge in the room.  Good for snacks and cold water.  Hotel service was very good.  They were very helpful Sunday afternoon when I realized we had left several items behind on the desk in our room - phone charger, etc. - and they were able to retrieve them for us right away.  Since we were still in town we could swing by to pick them up.

The restaurant was pretty nice - we ate breakfast here Fri, Sat, and Sun and the buffet had plenty to pick from.  Our server (same woman all three mornings) was so nice.   Omelette guy was cooking the eggs way too hot...but I know they all do that to keep things moving along.  Which is a shame.  Eggs should be cooked on low so they don't scorch.  But I digress.  Their fresh fruit was great and they even had smoked salmon and capers on the cold buffet.

Had the best time ever in this hotel cuz I didn't have 2 pay 4 it one bit due to the American Diebetes Association conference that one of my friends had to attend due to work.  Since my friend's work paid for the hotel, I was the guest who stayed w/her and her sister.  This WAS the best San Diego trip ever for me as I also ate a lot and didn't gain one pound coming back.  Saturday nite from June/25th/2011, I arrived in my own rental car at the hotel around 9pm (after checking in at Peets' Coffee first) and found my friends in the lobby.  The room we got was extremelyyyyyyyyy spacious inside with two queen beds and a futon....(I got the futon since it was a free room for me.  I didn't mind it.)  Anyways, this hotel had an awesome view by San Diego Bay that I would have missed if my friend didn't come back from the conference earlier the next day, Sunday June/26th/2011).  So, we walked around the hotel taking pics which will show up soon here on Yelp.  So please stayed tune for pics from Marriott Courtyard, Liberty Station.

There was a ship display by our hotel at Liberty Station; the ship's name was the "Recruit".  We took several pics there as well; this was an extremely convenient location to everything I had planned to do.....

Will come back and write more later....there were too many things I can write about this fabulous experience!
Hope these facts help for now till more next time I edit.

Pros: Free parking, great restaurants within walking distance.  Fantastic staff.  Kuerig coffee/tea makers in-room. Craft beer in the lobby bar.  Nice pool.  Huge park and beautiful waterfront walking/biking paths right outside the door.  New construction hotel.  Refrigerators.  Free airport transfer shuttle.  Very close to the airport, yet does not feel like an airport hotel, due to the body of water in between and the adjacent park/green belt.
Cons: The walls are indeed thin, so if you want to do loud partying please go somewhere else.  People come here to relax, and often prior to or just after a long flight, so this is not an appropriate place for noise after 10 pm.  Go stay at the W and party all night.  Water pressure in the showers is weak, but this is a San Diego water conservation issue.  No points deducted, because these are location appropriate issues.
Great for staycations, business travelers, pre-flight crash pad.  Please keep it down after 10pm, or pick another property.

I liked this location, but thought it was pricey despite it being well updated.

Great things about this hotel:
+bright, airy, spacious, modern and cheerful interior
+friendly staff at check in/check out
+modern looking dinner/seating area
+12.50 breakfast buffet - create your own eggs, and a variety of other breakfast items such as yogurt, bread/pastries, fresh fruit and smoked salmon, juice included
+complementary coffee in the room and in the cafe downstairs
+updated, modern room complete with IPOD docking station
+sliding glass door with small balcony, enough for two to sit and enjoy
+very classy and upscale room, a room with a king-sized bed was great for two, had a desk and a large flatscreen TV  as well as wardrobe complete with an actually serviceable hair dryer (not the kind attached to a wall!)
+towels were no scrawny threadbare things- they were thick and soaked up water, and were amply shaped.
+free wifi and free parking (this alone is great)
+a pool and large jacuzzi - downside: closes at 10pm, it's smack in the middle so creepsters can look out their window at you
+ocean view when you enter the hotel. we did not have an ocean view

Things I wished were better:
- The "bar" - if you could call it that - closed early
- People seated at the bar were elderly, or in their late 40s to 50s, this is not for a younger crowd. More like a dad having a drink after having to suffer through a family affair at the end of the day while the mom puts their ungrateful kids to bed, or retired people just enjoying being retired.
- Hotel was not meant for a young crowd. It's a family hotel. But I guess for the cost it could be assumed that.

The hotel came off as very family friendly. It is SO close to the Oldtown trolley parking lot, where you can get a day pass and ride all over the area without the hassle. This is especially great if you want to go downtown, or if you're in town for a padres game - saves you the cost of parking and if you have a beer, you have time to "sober up" on your way back from downtown to Oldtown. This location was very near everything. This hotel was beautiful and I enjoyed every moment I stayed in it. It is in a very peaceful albeit somewhat odd new development community. There is a shopping center with a Vons which is great if you want to get snacks and don't want to pay inflated prices at the Marriott. I guess I'm just picky and wished I had stayed in a hotel in downtown, closer to "action" and "nightlife."

My family and I stayed here during our vacation and it was flawless.  The rooms were very nice and clean.  The only thing I can complain about was the lack of a microwave in the room.  The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.  I have to make a special mention to the bartender here who made me feel at home and went out of his way to provide great strawberry smoothies.  The pool area was well maintained and had plenty of room.  We enjoyed our dinner poolside one night since the tables were nice and the weather was perfect.   The breakfast buffet had the perfect fix for us.  The omelettes were made to order and perfect.  The also had waffles for those with a taste for something sweet.  This is a great place for families with children of any age, but also good for couples.  I would definitely stay here again.

As of 2010, this hotel is only two years young.  Since this hotel opened, I have stayed here every year for Comic Con and found this Courtyard by Marriott a refreshing break from the madness of the Convention Center.  There are nice restaurants within walking distance and a large supermarket within a few blocks, so you can stock up your mini-fridge with your own drinks.

The hotel is clean and the staff is friendly.  You can print out your boarding pass at the business center.

My price was only $169 per night during 2010 Comic Con with free parking.

I stay here every couple weeks for business.  The staff are awesome and the rooms are clean and newly furnished.  The hotel offers a convenient airport shuttle which I use regularly.  The drivers rock.  The hotel's amenities are quite good - 24 hour fitness center with new equipment and a little coffee shop that opens bright and early for real coffee as opposed to the pellet machines in the rooms which never actually work.  The restaurant serves food that is decent but basically indistinguishable from fare served at other Marriott chain hotels. No problem, as there are several restaurants and two grocery stores within easy walking distance of the hotel.

Only drawbacks - the walls between rooms are pretty thin and the hotel, at times, can smell bad, like sewer gas.  I'll attribute it to the fact that it's located right on a canal that leads to the San Diego harbor.

I know your probably reading this and wondering why a local is writing a review for a hotel. Well after a early start to a night of drinking I did not wanting to ride home in a dirty cab and decided to wander over to the closest hotel. (okay I didn't walk but asked the bartender to drop me off)

I was checking in after 3 in the morning and since it was so late I was offered a really good rate. I requested a late check out and handed over my credit card.

The key system was down so I was walked to my room and asked if I needed anything else. After closing the door I realized how soothing a shower sounded.

I was impressed with the earthy decor and the room was very spacious and clean. I had a coffee maker (that would come in handy in a few hours) and the bedding was so comfy.

I knew it was morning when I could hear the rowdy families running through the hall. Since I had the night shades drawn my room was still dark and I fell back to sleep.

I would stay here again however I hope I would be able to enjoy some of the amenities. Staff was friendly both when I was checking in/out.

Ok, I wasn't expecting much out of this place, but damn if it wasn't the perfect realization of what it was.

Stayed here with a friend for Comic-Con and was just expecting a place to crash, but instead this place felt almost like a resort getaway.  A great bar in the lobby (and Jim, a very cool Bartender).  Even had a decent amount of Scotches.  A wonderful breakfast.  Not free, but certainly competitively priced.  Easy parking.  Rooms were very modern and elegant.  All the amenities you could think of.  One of the front desk girls looks like Kate from LOST which is nice.  Beautiful balcony overlooking the pool and the bay.  I would most certainly recommend this place and would love to stay here again.  It is about 10 minutes by car/cab to downtown SD.

Just this past weekend while attending Comic-Con my mother and I booked a room at this hotel.

As with any hotel we walk directly through the lobby to the check in desk.   As we get to the counter there is one employee named Joe working the desk.  He is on the phone. 30 seconds passes. He is still on the phone. 1 minute passes.  He is still on the phone.  He is obviously talking to another customer on the phone while we are waiting to check in.  At most places the hotel employee would tell the customer over the phone to hold, while they assisted the confirmed paying customer waiting to get into their room.  But that was not the case here.  We politely cough, he looks up but continues to stay on the line.  We were seriously waiting for about 2 minutes at the desk before he got of the phone to check us in, and this was after we said something to him like "Hello. Please check us in."

So normally at a hotel when you are getting checked in, the hotel employee at the front desk will greet you with a "how's it going' etc...but what we got was "NAME?"  That was it...no salutation...nothing...no hospitality training at a  Marriott owned hotel. Go figure.

Well at least we are checked  in right.  That's it right? No this is only the start.  When we go to our room, we open the door and see a very nice room, albeit a bit small AND with only ONE KING BED for a mother and son.  We had our paperwork and reservation on us and it said we had booked two queen beds for our two night stay.  We again have to go down to the check-in desk again.

We then proceed to talk to the hotel manager, who I believe was named Mitch, and tell him about the mistake that was made on our reservation (for the purpose of.  From the get-go he was unpleasant and had zero respect and/or knowledge of customer service, which all knowingly rubbed of on the other employees, including Joe, who was the first employee we encountered.  We were obviously unhappy that Joe had sent us up to a room with just one bed with a mother and son, without telling us prior what kind of room he was sending us up to.  Mitch would not however change rooms to our original reservation, which was made 4 MONTHS AGO.  He refused, and would hear nothing of it.  All he said was that we are completely booked and could not make any changes.  After politely disagreeing with him, he looked into the matter, and after 20 minutes waiting at the counter he said another room would be ready in 2 hours...2 HOURS!  We were again disappointed by the lack of hospitality on their end...the convention was in full swing and we were still not going to be able to check into our rooms for another 2 hours when we had previous confirmation that our room would be ready when we arrived at the hotel...highly disappointed. As we walked away from the hotel we decided to give the phone attendant a call to get an exact time of when our room would be ready, who tells us that our room is and has been ready for the entire time...At this point we are just in disbelief, and one wonders how the manager of a hotel wouldn't know if a room is ready and an attendant would.  Just makes you think about the motives behind this event/situation.

Mitch was one of the worst employees I have ever dealt with at any hotel or motel.  He should not be allowed direct contact with customers because he has no idea of how to treat a paying customer correctly.  Just the absolute worst and he tarnishes the name of all Marriot properties.   I would highly suggest that upper management look into this matter in regards to Mitch and the other employees at this hotel because they certainly need some sort of basic training in hospitality or should consider a completely  different job but not in the hospitality sector.

As for the hotel, I will be brief.  On the first impression the room looked amazing and spacious.  But then later on we learned that the walls were paper thin, the elevator could be heard each time, waking us up every time.  In one corner of the room there were three tissues that seemed used with who-knows-what-in-it, which we hesitantly threw away...not exactly a good experience.

The one bonus was that the breakfast buffet was awesome.  Fantastic, which is why I award one star to this review....0 stars for the hotel total, which is a very, very low level.

I would never suggest staying at this hotel to my worst enemy that is how bad it is. Just horrible and not worth it at all for all trouble you will go through.  Plus it is also overpriced.  The hotel may be newish, but inside the place is not kept in good condition.  Areas of the room were weathered, and there was a cigarette hole in on of my bed sheets in addition to a strange looking stain on the armchair, which was disgusting and could have been easily washed off if maintenance were to put any effort into their work.

I will never stay at a Courtyard property again or even a Marriott property at that.  This stay has tarnished my perception of all Marriotts FOREVER!

There are many great facets of this hotel including the beautiful lobby, its wonderful location on the harbor, and the very friendly staff. I had a great 1 night stay for a weekend getaway. I love the location which is right on the water. The only downside to the location is its very close proximity to the San Diego International Airport. Make sure to bring earplugs as it can get loud from all of the planes taking off every few minutes. Otherwise, I'm sure this is a very convenient hotel if you are going to catch a flight the following day. Also, its located right along the walking and bike trails that follow the harbor so you can easily walk the harbor and take in the scenery. One biggest pluses is that the parking is free, which is not something you come across much being close to the downtown area. Also located steps away the hotel is the landlocked USS Recruit; a very interesting sight to see when you turn the corner. The location of the hotel is also great if you plan on going around the nearby area. After checking out, I visited SeaWorld and it only took about 15 minutes to get there taking the streets. All in all it was a great choice to stay at and for all of its conveniences, I would definitely return to this hotel.

Outside of downtown, this is my favorite marriott to stay at in the San Diego area.

First - there's free parking, which is harder and harder to find at ANY hotel that is remotely near a city.  Second, the little bar in the lobby serves one of the yummy stone beers on draft.  And, finally - the rooms are comfortable, beds are nice and it's in a great area.

I actually "lived" here for about a month for work just after the hotel opened and loved all the small restaurants, grocery stores in the area.  The little minifridge in the room meant that I could stock up on stuff and not eat out all the time.

No complaints at all.  Very nice hotel - there are also a couple of computers in the lobby that are free for guests to use (email, internet).

I'm a big Marriott fan, so I may be a bit biased, but this Courtyard is above average.  My room was big and comfortable, much appreciated while working Comic Con every day.  The setting by the river is peaceful and quiet, away from the madness of downtown during a big conference.  The property is new, and it's being very well-kept.  The cafe off the lobby has seating outside, great for breakfast and a nice alternative to a sit-down breakfast.  It was too cold for the pool, but the area looked like fun in nicer weather.  There are plenty of good restaurants nearby for when you don't feel like journeying downtown, but there is also a walking trail that you can follow all the way there if you like.  Best of all, parking is free!

I also didn't expect much.. my meeting was at the sheraton, but i'm a Marriott person.... but it was a great stay... what a nice courtyard.

It was very much like a resort, sure it wasn't the ocean, but i had a "bay view" with great (but short) running path.  and the in hotel restaurant had a better than average courtyard breakfast.

First time stay for business.  Wonderful in all ways. Rooms were big, clean  . . . tons of free amenities including coffee in the room and in lobby area. Great snack shop.

Plenty of safe parking.

In fact, felt very safe the entire time.

Staff was exceptional!!

Front desk was so friendly and helpful.  We got a breakfast included in our rate - and it was AMAZING. Omelet station, waffle station, fruit, eggs, the works!

The servers were great including Luis Jose and Lisa . . . we ate breakfast three days in a row - and on the second day, Lisa remembered everyone's name - so rare.

I would stay here again ANY TIME and even drive out of my way to stay here.

I can not recommend this place more highly.

Look, I've stayed at more posh places - but you have to pay for every single little thing - not here.

Loved it!

Headed down for a sunny Labor Day weekend with the hub and friends.

Great View
Nice running path right out back next to the water
Small fridge in room
Keurig coffee (individuals) in room
Comfy large beds
Clean/new property (2 years old)
Large, free parking lot
Close proximity to a few eateries (sports bar, Thai, Mexican, etc), markets (Vons, Trader Joes), and large parks.

Elevator - not smooth, fits and starts, felt like it was going to drop us like Disney's Tower of Terror any second.
Nowhere to purchase alcohol on the premises unless the hotel bars are open.
Thin walls - don't walk heavily or you'll get a visit from the front desk with complaints from your lower level neighbor.

Overall a very nice Courtyard (nicer than imagined), in a quiet Point Loma neighborhood. 20-30 mins ($20) cab ride to downtown/Gaslamp district.

The place was wonderful! Well decorated and clean. Comfortable beds. Pretty cool view.

It has a nice park/open green field next to it. Not surrounded by cars and next to river outlet. Nice place to get away without being too far from anywhere.

Definitely not the place to go if you're looking to go out and party. Too far from downtown party scene and hotel bar is far too boring.

My husband and I stayed here last weekend; I would go back in a heartbeat. Our room was on the fourth floor facing the water. It was quiet; we didn't hear our neighbors and we didn't hear the airplanes. A lot of planes were taking off on Friday night, but then things calmed down. Between the lovely pool/spa area, the outdoor fire pit and the bar in the lobby, this hotel feels like a resort. The business area had a library complete with books for children; what a nice touch. We walked over to Liberty Station both nights for dinner and had excellent meals. This hotel is a great value and unlike the downtown hotels, you don't have to pay for parking.

My husband and I stayed here last weekend, and it was such a beautiful property.  Courtyards are really getting better, and we had nothing but a great experience staying here. The staff especially Joe at the Front Desk was so attentive and informative.  YOu could tell he truly enjoyed working there, and he was knowledgeable about the surrounding area.

The rooms were modern, and clean. We liked this hotel because you could walk to some nearby restaurants or shops, and enjoy walking around the park and water as well.

From now on, we will always stay at this property when we come to San Diego. It's only about a 5 min. drive to downtown!

They also have FREE parking and FREE internet :)

I was very pleased with the cleanliness of the hotel & friendliness of all the staff.  The guy working in the bar (Jim) was very friendly & interactive will all the guests.  The pool & jacuzzi were clean.  Fitness room was actually pretty good for a hotel.  Free coffee in the deli & a decent buffet in the restaurant.

I would definitely stay here the next time I'm in San Diego.

My only issue would be to please get something more than 1-ply toilet paper.

The location is a bit away from the action of the gas lamp area but it's a short drive or cab ride to get you there and on the flip side you do get a nice area to walk around with a handful of places to eat in the area. The rooms are usual courtyard style and they keep them nice and clean. There is a good pool area and you can get food I the hotel and drinks at the hotel bar, parking is free and there are plenty of spaces

We reserved 15 rooms at this hotel for a basketball tournament our high school was playing in Coronado.  the plus is that they have free parking.  all the other hotels in the area were charging somewhere between $20-29 a night....whaaaaa???

The hotel staff, especially manager, was so attentive for our group of 30 kids and 11 adults.  the rooms were clean, updated, spacious and comfortable for our group.  We loved, loved, loooooooved breakfast outside by the pool with views of the water....oooohhhhh s-e-r-e-n-i-t-y....**sigh**..wish I had my dog. it had a park right next door, a walk way along the water, restaurants close by....had everything we would want in a hotel...location, location, location!!

Thanks you Couryard by Marriott Liberty Station for all your awesome customer service, free coffee ALL day, free parking (saved us bucks), clean laundry room, delish breakfast every morning and the great experience we had while there for 4 nights.  This is where we will come back every year.......thank you Marlene, for setting up our group!  You guys are dee BEST !!!!

This hotel has horrendous customer service especially those that work the front desk.  I had requested my stay be extended and a lady named Miriam accommodated.   However on Sunday while I was with my family at Seaworld I was called by Miriam on my cellphone and told my stay was not extended and my room which was one of only 3 king suites was sold to another guest.  She asked me to return to the hotel and checkout.  She argued they only agreed to extend my stay until Sat and it was my fault for not listening.   Since I had stayed an entire week with my reservation I couldn't believe I was being told to checkout when my who was with me at the time also told her Sunday. DO NOT STAY HERE.  There is a Homewood suites next door if you want to stay in this area.  We will never stay here again!

I was a bit skeptical about not staying close to the Gas Lamp District, but after checking in here I must say I was pleasantly surprised. A fairly simple hotel with the usual amenities including free wi-fi. What?!?! Yes ladies & gentlemen FREE WI-FI!!! Every hotel I've stayed at always charges! The room was decent sized & included an iPhone player to satisfy all your musical needs! Please believe we got it popping. The hotel is smoke free so if you need to get your nicotine fix or herbal remedy like myself you have to drag your ass outside. Not as bad as it sounds especially when you have an amazing view of the water! There are even some benches to sit & relax while gazing at the waters & contemplating about life. The pool area was rather small & we didn't partake in any aquatic activities due to the weather. So we sat around the outdoor fireplace & enjoyed our cigars until our lungs were content. After coming back late or should I say early from the bars we went up to our room & cranked up the music & not one complaint came ;) The staff was friendly all around. Would definitely stay here again!

Great location in San Diego. Our room looked out on the water and had a great city view. Although the hotel is right across from the airport, we never heard any jet noise unless we had the sliding glass door to our teeny-tiny balcony open. Nice that this door has a screen as well, btw. Many hotels don't bother. The room was great, very comfortable bed, nice desk setup with fast, free internet (wireless or wired), nice big bathroom with big vanity counter for all your stuff. The staff was super nice and helpful. When I needed to print something out that I'd sent from the room (very nice feature - doesn't print until you enter code at the printer), someone was on the computer I needed to print from, and was obviously going to be there awhile (he was researching what horses he was going to bet on at Del Mar. Really? You can't bring your own computer if you know you're going to do that?) the front desk clerk let me pull up my email on her computer and print it out at the front desk. Breakfast was OK, although the waitress was great. We only had breakfast there one of the 3 mornings we were there. Better places to try in the area. The best thing about the hotel is the location. Liberty Station is a great area with shops, restaurants, galleries and lots of open space, all within easy walking distance of the hotel. Right behind the hotel is a huge park with running/biking trails that runs along the water. We were there for Indiefest, which was also walkable from the hotel, and this was the perfect home base. Would definitely stay again. A little pricey at $200 a night, but it was so convenient and really felt like a resort. However, the previous comments about the elevator are very true. S L O W. And one was out of service for awhile during our stay, making it even worse. Great pool area and fire pit as well.

My wife and I stayed here while I was on business back in November. The facility is decent, location is okay, staff is friendly but left very disappointed. When we checked out, we realized 30 minutes later that my wife left her ipad back in our room, placed in one of the cabinets. We immediately called the hotel to have them check the room and they told us they could not find it. They told us that their staff do a thorough walk-thru after every checkout and immediately call guests if items are left behind. Well, I'm sure their staff walked-thru and walked away with my wife's ipad. (unfortunately for us, she had just received this ipad for work and had not installed the security app to locate it yet).

We never received any follow up calls from the hotel management, we always had to call and follow up with their staff. Basically, we were tossed around between the front desk manager, housekeeping manager, day manager, night manager, manager for this...manager for that...

Basically, we got the finger when it came to their customer service and follow up. We were told to file a claim (with the hotels insurance company) and police report, which we did. Only to find out 60 days later from the hotels insurance company that there was nothing they could do. So, 'why file a loss claim?" I asked, "uh, I dunno, you have a claim number I guess...but we can't replace it because we don't know if you're lying".. REALLY?! You don't know if I'm lying?! I filed a friggin police report you dumb nuts, with a REAL serial number!!!

Ugh, a double whammy for us, our platinum amex would not cover the loss either because we waited more than 30 days after the incident to file a claim. Had this hotel staff and piece of crap insurance company been more customer friendly and upfront with us, good ol AMEX would have come through.

Needless to say, don't leave anything behind at this place, their staff have sticky fingers. This location puts the Marriott name to shame, (yes, we are members of their rewards club, but it seems their dishonest staff walked away with my wife's ipad as a reward while we have to foot the bill with my wife's employer).

I stayed here pre cruise.  No staff member informed me that the electricity would be shut off overnight-- yes shut off.  I need electricity for medical equipment-- management was not proactive-- i had to pack, move hotels and be back in the AM as i had one more note to stay and I was not ALLOWED to stay at the second hotel for the final night.   I tried calling this hotel starting at 6 am to no avail to find out when i needed to be back - we came back at 8 am-- hotel still had no power.  The manager was apologetic and will train staff better for future.   Not acceptable response.  I should have stayed at Sheraton Harbor Island -- my old standby.  I should NOT have tried this "new" hotel.   Sadly, it ruined the pre cruise stay in the lovely city of San Diego

My husband and I stayed here for 1 night since we arrived to San Diego a day earlier and couldn't get into our timeshare hotel. The hotel is really close to the airport and they have a shuttle which is a huge plus. They are near some store and restaurants. The area is clean, nice, and quiet. The hotel staff was really friendly. The hotel itself is clean (except our tub was dirty). The walls are very very thin. We could hear people in the other rooms, down the hall, pool area, etc. Other than that, it was a nice room. It came with a refrigerator but not a microwave.

It was a nice room.  Great for business travelers.  Had an excellent desk to work at with internet connection.  Don't believe they had wireless though.  Highly recommend going to the one next door as it comes with breakfast for about the same price...think it was the Hyatt or Hilton if I'm not mistaken.

Located in a safe area right by the Navy base and only a couple of miles from downtown, the airport and a lot of other attractions.

There were some dark stains on the couch possibly from wine.  That was definitely not acceptable at the price, but I was there for work, so I let it pass.

I visited this hotel for the weekend.  I made the reservation a week prior to our stay, customer service rocked.  The phone rep told me me of all the promotions they were offering.

The room decor was tasteful, neat and very clean.  I loved that they offered a Keurig machine.  The room was kinda small but we were not staying in the room for long taking in the sights.

The only downside was that I could hear both people int he rooms next to me...coughing, talking, laughing and I think the people above us were dancing (I hope they were).  Parents why do you let your kids run down the hall yelling in the moring...come on.

Plenty of parking...When I return I will consider this hotel again.

This was a pleasant surprise, and such a huge relief after a horrid drive from L.A. I wasn't expecting much after the customer service from other businesses during that day. This was booked with Marriott rewards in a hurry, and I hadn't investigated the location much.

GASP~ The room was gorgeous, fully equipped with ports for my geeky needs, the walls were thick enough so I didn't have porn theatre while I tried to rest.
The sheets were high thread count, the corners were clean, and there's no bedspread! I LOVE that! Bedspreads are the filthiest item in most rooms...at least that's what ABC news told me.

The Keurig thingie also impressed me. I want one now. Good marketing and delicious coffee/tea.

The front desk help was stellar at all hours. It was joyous that the staff was knowledgeable, quick and accommodating  to a very tired traveler who hates any temp above 70 degrees. bleh.

They even finnagled an additional night during Comic-Con hell for their bookings. Side note - never do comic-con weekend in SD if you can schedule your needs otherwise :)

The business center is comfy and easy to access, the restaurant had very good service, and you can walk to much of what you may crave.

Definitely staying here on next visit.

I was here last weekend for orientation for a fellowship I will be doing over the summer.  Let me be clear that I did not get to actually stay here, as wonderful as I imagine that would have been.  I am local, so I ended up going home each night to my own bed and room which unfortunately has no housekeeping staff to keep it as clean as this hotel is.  Le sigh...

I did however get to experience the conference rooms, the restaurant, the catering and event staff, the bar (of course), the pool and hot tub, and the namesake courtyard.  All were excellent in my opinion.

The catered food was tasty, ranging from steak, chicken, and grilled Atlantic salmon to lasagna and chicken alfredo for dinner.  Breakfast each morning was the usual staples -- eggs, bacon, sausage, yawn...except for the fresh fruit!  Cantaloupe, honeydew, pineapple, and grapes, all extremely sweet and delicious!  Lunch was a selection of deli meats and what could have been artisan breads but was more likely just higher-end "regular" bread.

The bar was decently priced and stocked with a selection of local San Diego craft beers on tap.  A nice touch for tourists who might not otherwise try our local brews.

The pool was a nice warm temperature to offset the slightly chilly evenings and the hot tub was great.  The view of the water from pretty much anywhere in the courtyard was equally nice.

All the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful when approached.  This place is definitely on the list for the next time I decide to have a weekend staycation.

Funny that several reviews brought up the thin walls, but noone mentioned that this hotel is DIRECTLY in the FLIGHT PATH of the airport.  If you are deaf, an insanely deep sleeper,or love to wake up to the sound of airplanes taking off at 6:30am then this is the place for you.

The location is great.  Close to lots of shops and restaurants in the Liberty Station area.  The pool/spa area is something that I would expect from a higher end resort.  Which is likely what this would have been...if not for the flight path factor.

The service is good, breakfast decent.  There is a bar, which you don't always see at a Courtyard.  Rooms well appointed, though the comfort level of the beds is more on the Courtyard end of things vs a regular Marriott.

Would I stay here again?  I actually did...it's been twice now.  Super convenient to the airport, they have a free shuttle.  I love the location/views.  I just don't think I can deal with the noise level again.

It was close enough to Sea World, and convenient to Old Town and downtown San Diego. Our room included a microwave and fridge. It also had a decent size bathroom. I've stayed at quite a few Courtyard hotels, and this by far has one of the best views. As always, I experienced the friendly staff service that's a standard with Marriott. Wi-Fi and parking are also free at this location. They gave me a corner room, which I'll probably consider getting every time I stay at any of their hotels from now on, since it's pretty quiet. More points that it was located close to the elevator, which made going in and out a breeze. Overall, my stay here was enjoyable. Courtyard has yet to stir me wrong!

For business I visit San Diego at least once a year. I always stay here for about  a week. Never had a doubt or problem. Rooms are super clean. Front desk is always helpful. The lounge is a great place to stay and have a couple of cocktails, or a few. :) The restaurant is great for a full breakfast and/or tasty dinner. I really enjoy the quite relaxed harbor view and area. Plenty of paths to jog or walk on for exercise. If you're looking for the party scene I would stay in downtown for that. I'd visit again.

While the facilities looked impressive and location was great (along with free parking), this place has the thinnest walls of any hotel room I have ever stayed. I could hear everything the neighboring room was saying along with opening/closing doors. All the noise kept me up all night. And I couldn't connect to the promised free wireless two of the days I stayed there (once of the reasons why I chose this place).

Bottom line: Promising location and facilities but expect no sleep if you come here. And wifi is free... only if you can get on it. Most unrelaxing (and most disappointing) hotel stay in my life.

I really like this Courtyard.  New, smells fresh, impeccably clean, and with resort amenities.  Running path right outside the door and a longer bike/running path less than a block away that leads to Harbor Island for a 5 mile round trip.  Free Internet, both wired and WiFi.  Great service.  And a convenient shuttle to conferences and airport.

With a cold front approaching, I didn't use their pool, but in warmer weather it would be ideal.  The fitness facility is modern and well appointed.

One of the most interesting and salient details in this hotel is the electronic outlet bank on the rear of the writing table.  Most hotels nowadays present the customer with the choice of unplugging lamps and turning the room into the equivalent of a cave, or being able to charge your electronic equipment.  Not here.  There are eight built-in charging plugs, Digital Video and PC Video plugs, S-Video, additional network and phone plugs, and sound plugs.  Cables for all of these in a drawer and pre-connected to the large HdTV so you can use your computer or DVD player to play movies or data on the TV screen.  I wish all hotels had this feature.

The copious amount of restaurants in Liberty Station make this hotel even more competitively located.  Walking distance to everything.

A pleasure to stay here.

I will never stay here again! The room was fine no complaints there. The staff sucked though it felt like we were on neighborhood watch our whole stay. We had music on (not loud at all) at like 11pm and we get a call that there were people complaining about the music being to loud and if we didn't turn it off we would be asked to leave if the complaints continued. Really? It wasn't that serious.

The housekeepers were very loud in the hallway early in the morning. There were kids running in the hallway through out the day. The whole experience here just sucked. Wont stay here again.

The Hilton on Harbor Island was a way better experience.

All the pictures associated with this Yelp review site look absolutely accuratte.  My room was clean and well appointed.  I always whine about air conditioners at hotels, but I'm realizing that they are a necessary evil.  I'll say the temperature of the room was fine and I could adjust as needed.  I also had a slider to open and get some San Diego air in.

Really nice location near walking paths and parkways. If you travel without your dog, there are plenty of spares along the trails and you can get your "dog fix" there.

Yes, the elevators are VERY slow. Super slow.  Excruciatingly slow. Suffice it to say, I took the stairs every time I went in and out without my suitcase.  I couldn't tell the last time the elevator in the wing closest to Homewood had been inspected.

Pool and jacuzzi:  Jacuzzi was hot, pool was luke-cool.  I know they are super expensive to upgrade, but the ledge around the hot-tub that sticks into your neck is just really not relaxing.  What is nice is that I ordered a beer at the bar, and was able to have it in a plastic glass with me in the tub.

The maid popping in on my room without knocking was a drag too.

And for the other guests:  it's really uncouth to yell from your poolside balcony to your friends on the walking path.  I mean, who does that?

Very nice hotel in a great location. Very near the airport and to SeaWorld (10 minute drives). And driving to the San Diego Zoo and Petco Park only took 15-20 minutes. There are restaurants close-by. The hotel itself also features a pretty good restaurant and cafe. There is a beautiful walkway behind the hotel where people go for walks, jogs, etc. I had a room with a large balcony, which I enjoyed.

Only negative of this hotel and probably every other Courtyard Marriott is that the walls are thin. You will hear doors slamming and people on the floor above walking around.

Great get away hotel to stay in! The room is just the right size, clean and relaxing! One of the best feature of this hotel is, you don't have to go out to eat! They have a restaurant that serves breakfast (buffet) and dinner, a deli with Starbucks drinks, and a bar! The swimming pool is heated and you can sit at the back area and just look at the nice view! I know Marriott is just a so-so hotel chain to savvy business travelers, but I've been in a few, and this is by far the best!

-Rooms were nicely decorated. I KNOW the stuff in there wasn't fancy, but the suave decorations really won me over. My bed was very comfortable, and I didn't want to leave it in the morning.

-Room service was the least invasive I've ever seen. Having left my room for about a half an hour, I came back to everything restocked. Our belongings were scattered all over the place, but almost magically tidied up and organized. I swear someone was even OCD enough to untangle a couple of cords I had for my gadgets that lie around. 5/5 housekeeping for sure.

-It has a bar

-The breakfast buffet was amazing! All you can eat, and the amazing staff included it in our stay since we had so many people. I stuffed my face with smoked salmon, perfect bacon, and tons of fresh fruit. I don't like eggs, but the omelet bar could be right up your alley.

-Free coffee 24/7

-Nice pool/patio area

The MEH:

-Bar closes too early and has a puny selection

-Hotel room walls are very thin compared to other places I've stayed. I hate having to pipe down! :-p

I'm pretty much a fan, and would come here again when I'm in San Diego.

There is no ventilation in the bathrooms,  seriously,  no exhaust fan.  The window would not open to the outside leaving no ventilation at all.  The room constantly smelled like someone had just used the bathroom.  I was tempted to light a cigarette just to make the room smell better, that's insane.  The front desk staff are super nice.

First let me state that I would most likely given this courtyard of four-star rating if it wasn't for what I'm about outlined below. There are certain things I just can't look past and the lack of management follow-up for the issues that this guest had is just not forgivable. This courtyard is very conveniently located right off Harbor Island and Point Loma. Giving you easy access to downtown San Diego the beaches and the Valley. It is also rated one of the higher hotels in the greater San Diego downtown area. When I was growing up this was a Marine Depot and are still is a lot of active military in the area with the submarine base being adjacent and several other military installations.

The issues; when returning to my room after being out for full-day returning about 4 PM I found my door to my room open, it was semi closed but it was not latched. I was easily able just to push my door open to gain entry. Now luckily nothing was stolen out of the room, however, I did call the front desk as a courtesy to let them know to speak to the maid about making sure the doors are closed. The young lady on the phone was nice and apologized and I thought that was the end. About 5 min. later the manager called asking if he could come up and check the door entry pass key system to see who was the last person to enter using a card. Of course I said no problem, come on up, I will be here for about 10 to 15 more minutes before going to work out. So I hung out, no one showed, nothing not a callback, just nothing. So overall this is a little disturbing in way the management handles such a things. Some of the worst-case scenarios someone could have let themselves in and ransacked my room or got in the room hid to do personal damage to a guest.

Then the night before departing on an early flight  the room across the hall the ladies had a bachelorette party in their guest room. I finally called down about 10:30 to see if we could get them to settle down or move their party to the bar but it sounded like they probably had strippers lots of alcohol and generally a fun time going on but in a hotel.  When other people are trying to get some rest before 5 AM flight it's not the thing you want to be dealing with once again they said they would take care of it and nothing the party went on till 3 AM.

When I was checking out the young lady at the desk asked me how my stay was. So I recap for her the events during my stay and said they have a few things they can improve on to enhance the guest experience. Not expecting anything in return and  trying to be pleasant very early in the morning after getting very little sleep, because it wasn't her fault why take it out on her. She apologized and said she would like to do something for me but there was no manager on duty to speak with. I said no problem but she insisted that she would have a manager give me a call to discuss the situation and make it right. Well... No one ever called. I can forgive a lot of things just tell me you're not going to do anything at least you've made a choice and I can deal with that, but don't say you're going to do one thing as a management team and not to do anything is just unforgivable and not the way to run a business.

Buffet was great with waffles, pancakes, omelet bar, bacon, smoked salmon, etc...$13ish/adult, 1/2 price for kids & free if under 3 or 4(?), not sure, but very nice service throughout the hotel!! Get a room with a view, it's so worth it! Behind the hotel is a bay inlet with beautiful walking/biking paths, parks, playgrounds and on the weekend (or maybe always?) they rent kayaks & paddleboards for about $20/hour. I really wish we had brought the kids bikes! Liberty Station is an awesome location too! Not very touristy or crowded, easy access to anywhere in the city, many restaurants within walking distance or very short drive... I recommend Corvette Diner, Tender Greens, Smashburger, & the outdoor dining @ C Level (very close by on Harbor Island). I spent quite a bit of time at the hotel with the kiddos (7, 3 & 1) while hubby attended a convention & we had a fantastic time there!! One wrinkle, however, beware of ANTS! We parked too close to a bush where there must have been a colony & by morning our SUV was literally covered inside & out with thousands of them!! In the baby's carseat, everywhere!! Never have seen anything like it! The hotel manager was very helpful in helping us resolve the situation, however, which was HUGE for us & very appreciated! So just be careful where you park!!! Oh, and definitely the world's slowest elevator, just sayin'.

My first time staying here and it's in a convenient location - close to the Gas-lamp district and downtown. The hotel offers free parking which is unusual for hotels close to the inner city. Friendly front desk employees and they granted me a 2:00 pm check out.

The lobby was modern and chic with a nice work area to kick back or spend time on your laptop. My room had scenic views overlooking the water, downtown and a park.  In addition, the room was modern and was in great condition, nice office desk, HD flat screen and the bed was comfy.

There's a outdoor pool, jacuzzi and areas to relax and even a fire pit which was a nice feature. Exercise room was nicer then most Courtyards with cardio and even free-weight dumbbells.

I didn't dine here so I can't review the cafe but if looked clean and modern. There was also a lobby bar with a several flat screens for you sport fans.

My stay was enjoyable and I'd recommend this Courtyard which was superior to others I've experienced.

I booked two rooms here for one night. All four of my guests were teen-agers from overseas with expensive tastes. This location was perfect for our weekend to explore San Diego. We were smack in the middle between Sea World and the Gas Light District.

The staff that work here were pleasant enough but if you were lucky as I was to have had Terry at the front desk to wait on you, you were in most capable and awesome hands!!!  Every hotel should have a Terry @ their front desk!! This lady went out of her way to help me. Couple of her coworkers were suggesting I walk over next door to the other hotel close by to purchase Trolley tickets..But she jumped in and took care of my needs even when the other hotel informed her that there would be no Trolley pick up that day, due to a marathon in the city. Which turned out not to be true, thanks to Terry and her knowledge of what goes on in San Diego!!

The Courtyard/Liberty Station was a nice surprise to me since  I'm more used to staying
places like Manchester Grand Hyatt or Four Seasons in Kona just to mention  a few...
It was clean. It had beautiful views. The beds were comfortable and the decor tastefully done! The young guy on the third floor, was incredibly nice and translated to the hispanic cleaning lady of my request for more Green Tea..Wish I knew his name..We bumped into him every time we were taking the elevator to the third floor.

My guests and I were so happy with the service and the accommodation that I believe this will be our hangout from now on....staying away from the Gas Light district, and the exorbitant amount of parking/valet fees..

Excellent Courtyard.  It was recently updated as it has the look and feel of the newer Courtyards. Room and bath are well appointed.  Nice TV and sitting area.

Breakfast buffet is excellent.  Good deal to buy in advance with your room.  There is a bar open in the evenings.  Close to the water.

Very nice pool.  The hot tub was super crazy hot.

Free parking.  No noise issues.

What a nice hotel!  Decided to do a little staycation in town and chose this hotel based on reviews.  Trip advisor rated it #12 out of 271 hotels in San Diego and the price was right, so we booked it!  The grounds were beautiful and well maintained, walking distance to a few restaurants and a Starbucks, the staff was very helpful (Dunkin at front desk assisted me with a specific room request earlier in the day), The rooms were very clean, neat and well appointed. The pool and hot tub area were immaculate! Hot tub was hot and pool was perfect.  I am a hotel work out room snob and I gotta say this place has one of the nicest, most equipped, comfortable work out rooms....TV's on the treadmills??  If you stay here and you want some gooooood pizza, Nova Pizza delivers and they are most excellent!  The only con with this hotel....and I hate to mention it because my stay here was so good, was the low flow shower head....my daughter and I have thick long hair and the water pressure was beyond inadequate, most hotels use low flow and we are used to this being an issue in most places, but it was really quite disappointing :(  That being said, it wouldn't cause me not to stay again.   Thank you Marriott for making our NYE just that much better!

For spring break we had the chance to head down to sunny San Diego to visit our son.  We checked in at this hotel during our stay and loved it. This location was fairly close to everything between local eateries, shops, Naval Base and SeaWorld.

Hotel amenities included free wi-fi, outdoor pool, public coastal access and more. Our room had all of today's power hungry electronic device hook ups, flat screen and nice comfy beds. The hotel also offered a bar & lounge along with a deli.

Excellent service, plenty of parking and it's clean all around.

I used to live in this town when I was a kid but unfortunately I don't really remember much.

It's so relaxing and beautiful here, it's all coming back now...

For the money and location, this place is fantastic.  Yes, you're right by the airport, so if that kind of noise bothers you, don't even consider this hotel.  Personally, I grew up on air force bases so it's an odd comfort that comes with the sound of roaring jets.... Anyway, like I said the price is fantastic, the location is pretty central (and super close to Point Loma Seafoods!) and the beds are UNBELIEVABLY comfortable.

Do it. Stay here, it's fantastic!

Love and trust the Marriotts and this location was wonderful.

Mr G and I ame here for a mini family reunion and wedding.  The views are beautiful and right off the patio. There are paths along the water so you can go for a walk or take a run.

The weather right now is a bit cool so I was glad I brought a sweater.

The hotel did a wonderful job on the party and party set up.  The heated lamps were very helpful.

4 out of 5 only because they advertise being business friendly and the internet was unusable during Friday and Saturday during our stay.  However, the food (had a breakfast buffet that was reasonably priced and wonderful), the bar (James is the man), the pool area, and workout facility are top notched.   I would stay here again for the price, location to the Airport and convention center, free parking, and all the other features (except fast internet on the weekend).

This isn't the fanciest hotel but definitely clean and comfortable. My mother and I stayed here to get to the airport early in the morning and it suited our needs. The staff was friendly and we enjoyed our dinner at the hotel restaurant.

Everything seemed fine until we went to sleep. Or should I say, tried to go to sleep. It was then that we realized that the walls are paper thin. Doors kept slamming and we could hear the entire drunken conversation of two animated ladies staying next door.

I was a bit surprised that we were paying $250 for one night in a room with 2 queen beds (this is a Courtyard after all) but since it is recently built and everything fairly new I won't complain too much...but it really is a shame about the walls.

Lovely hotel located just west of the San Diego airport, and north of Shelter and Harbor Islands in the Liberty Station / Point Loma section of town.

Marriott hotels are known for consistent, quality lodging with clean rooms, comfy beds, and a host of amenities for travelers. This particular Marriott Courtyard has free airport shuttle service, and the guys were more than willing to take us to a nearby restaurant on Shelter Island and then pick us back up later in the evening.

This Courtyard has a large lobby / bar / restaurant area along with a 24-hour business center, and a Marriott Marketplace for snacks, drinks, and travel accessories. The hotel sits right along the water so there are trails for walking, jogging and bicycling outside, along with benches and even a fire pit. Inside there are several seating areas for small discussions, and a nice gas fireplace for cooler evenings.

The folks behind the front desk were very friendly, and certainly accomodating to our group of travelers. They gave out maps and brochures for various restaurants, nightclubs, and sightseeing options for our group - and provided their personal recommendations for nice seafood, steak, sushi, and mexican places around town. I'm trying to recruit the night manager into becoming a Yelpette!

If my business brings me back to San Diego, I would certainly stay here again.

My husband and I stay at Courtyard Marriott when we go on vacations. This one is in the top 3 for us. Very clean, complementary parking, excellent food, on site starbucks, beautiful view. Next to a park for a romantic walk near the water. Very refreshing. The staff has excellent customer service, even the housecleaning staff acknowledge you as you pass them by with a "good morning". I would definitely recommend this to anyone of my friends.

Rough morning this morning with the fire alarm going off at 6:15 am.  The hotel staff went above and beyond to make things comfortable for the guests.  Setting up a coffee station with juice and muffins within minutes of the alarm, and them mobilizing the kitchen staff on the patio for complimentary omelettes and cereal.  Great job, turned what could have been an ugly, grouchy situation into a positive enjoyable time!  Well done!

Clean, pretty hotel. Good location for many things, just be careful with some parts of the nearby neighborhoods, they can be a bit rough if you make a wrong turn.

Only complaint is how thin the walls are. You hear everything, particularly doors slamming and drunk rowdy (but happy) people at night.

I'm from a different time zone and after having my flight canceled I was really valuing the chance to sleep and to be woken up by the sound of maids yelling back and forth to one another along with their radios was... not pleasant to say the least esp at 7AM. (Hey I'm on vacation)

I was put near the loading zone and people come in at all hours, it is near an airport after all. I could hear them ALL.

The staff is very helpful and courteous. There is no free breakfast and breakfast there is expensive. Pool was small but nice and there is a nice sitting area by the pool near the bar.

Overall would recommend.

Stayed here during SDCC and had an amazing experience. When I arrived in my room, there was a comic book and a shuttle schedule waiting for me on my bed. It was a wonderful touch! The front desk staff was friendly and loved seeing which costumes I wore each day! The pool area is very nice and there is a Starbucks that leads to an outdoor patio. Perfect for a morning coffee! Stayed here for the comic con weekend. The staff were soooooo nice! The moment we arrived, they gave us these bags of goodies with water and candy that they prepared. Everyone was friendly and helpful. After we checked out they offered to keep our bags until we leave for the day. Our bags weren't particularly light either...The one staff I would really like to mention is Niina, seriously, I received better services here than I did at 5star hotels paying twice the price. Wassup with that?! We needed an extra futon or something for a friend to crash for the night. She told me that she had to check because alot of them were reserved for comic con weekend. No big deal, maybe we can squeeze. What do we find back at our room after a whole day at comic con? A cot!!! She remembers!! Definetly recommending to everyone staying near SD airport/convention center.

I stayed here for one night on a very quick business trip.  Would come back here and stay again because of so many pros, but there were two minor flaws.

Excellent free shuttle service for the airport

Due to an unexpected change in flights, I arrived at 10:00 am, much earlier than the 4:00 pm check-in time.  They asked if I minded a handicapped room with two beds (I was traveling alone) and they were able to get me a room immediately.

Free, fast wifi.

Free iced lemonade in the lobby.

Not that I hung out there, but what looked like a great pool and hot tub.

The room was itself was beautifully done (at $200 a night, it better be) and everything was modern and up to date.

Excellent business center in the lobby.  I was able to check in for my flights and print out my boarding pass, as well as tweak my PowerPoint presentation on their computers.

Breakfast buffet at $12 was fine.  Just avoid the scrambled eggs, which tend to dry out.

The two minor CONS:

Dang, those elevators were slow.  Really really   S L O W.

My bathroom was designed for handicapped access.  Unfortunately, the two drain holes (one under the shower head and the other in the middle of the room) did not drain well.  I was left with a bathroom that had half an inch of water in it after the shower for at least two hours.  This happened at 5:30 am on the day I was checking out, so I just let them know at check-out.  Hopefully no one decides to stand in a flooded bathroom and plug in the hair dryer.

My view?  I think you get your money's worth, the hotel rooms are clean and nicely decorated, and overall it's not a bad experience considering there's no bell service and it's do-it-yourself.  The dining room had surprisingly good food the first night when we tried it.  Overall, would I run screaming if somebody booked me into this no-bell-service hotel again?  No.  Although, I have to go on record saying that I AM NOT A FAN of having to put all of our luggage on the carts standing outside and then try to get that up to the room and then back down again all by yourseslf using the only, single elevator.

I like Marriott and the standards they keep. This Marriott was great for my business trip to San Diego. The room was spacious. It had a little smell to it but once I turned the AC on I did not smell it anymore.

This Marriott does not provide free breakfast or dinners. Breakfast here is $12.50 for the buffet. The buffet is not bad. In addition, they have an omelet bar.

The lobby can get pretty crowded and loud. This is probably a good thing for people travel alone.

The location is great. Next to the Navy base, airport and many restaurants.

I would stay here again.

I came here for my friends wedding and unfortunately I live in San Diego so I didn't need a room. I wish I had stayed at least one night because the reception area, courtyard outside and cleanliness was top notch.  The servers were polite and the bar staff were also accommodating and friendly. Did I mention they had a bar in the lobby? With five beers on tap, variety of bottled beer and liquor...and football on the their large tv's. Let's just say my boyfriend was quite pleased since the reception was hours after the ceremony.

I'm still stuck on what star rating to give because I have yet to stay in the hotel and rent a room. Decisions...Decisions.... I'll come back after the reception and tell you some more.

So the hall was nicely decorated and the buffet style food was good with butter poached salmon and strip steak in mushroom sauce.  The severs did a good job replenishing the food as it ran out and there was also coffee with flavored creamers for the post feast.
So all in all great party but unfortunately i can't give them 5 stars because i didn't stay the night.
However, if i need to go on a staycation i will definitely stay here.

One of the best Courtyards we've ever stayed at.  Clean, friendly staff, free parking, free internet and a great location.  It was convenient to everything we wanted to do and we never had an issue finding parking, even with 3 weddings going on the weekend we were there.

The restaurant was a little slow at breakfast time on Sunday morning, but that was to be expected.  And as much as I love free wifi and free parking, my 2 favorite things had to be Jim the bartender and the Starbucks on site!  Drinks at night when we came in and coffee in the morning, woohoo!  The outside seating area by the pool is so nice, with firepits and comfy couches and chairs.

Will definitely come back here the next time we're in San Diego.

Courtyard Airport is one of the most underrated hotels in the area. You get more bang for your buck here than almost any other location.

The hotel is conveniently located in Point Loma, right across the bridge from the airport. You're right on the water leading out to the bay, and it makes for some fantastic views. and it should be said, that unlike other nearby hotels, Courtyard has the most waterfront balconies. It's a tremendous value.

It's also indicative of the new styles of Courtyard - they aren't just poor man's Marriott's anymore. I highly recommend the waterfront rooms, and hit the pool while the sun is hitting it, if you can. It tends to get very windy down here as the day goes on, which makes it about 10-15 degrees cooler in the shade.

With this hotel, there's no reason to pay steep downtown prices ever.

I stay in a lot of crappy airport hotels with how much I travel, and as such I've learned to not expect much more than a place to sleep and a lukewarm shower in the morning before getting on with whatever weird thing has you in town for one night before flying out. Well, this Courtyard Marriott blows away all the other airport hotels I've been in.

First off, the location is great in that it's not directly next to the airport so you have to listen to planes non-stop but it's not too far away to make waiting for the (free) shuttle obnoxious. It was around a 5-10 minute drive, so the most you'd ever be waiting if you JUST missed the shuttle is 15-20 minutes which is pretty good.

The beds are awesome, and this is honestly the first hotel I've stayed at where I thought about looking around in the brochures they leave littered around the room to see if they sell them like some hotels I've stayed at do. The hotel bar was fun, and they serve food until 10:00 which is always a plus. I got the salmon which was similarly unexpectedly good with a huge portion of fish.

The only thing keeping this from being a solid five star is breakfast not being included in the room. Now, don't get me wrong, their breakfast buffet wasn't bad, it was just very average, and to charge nearly $15 for a run of the mill breakfast buffet that'd typically be free anywhere else seemed weird. I guess they have someone there making fresh waffles and eggs, maybe I arrived too early and they hadn't gotten to work yet, who knows.

Either way, definitely way above average for an airport hotel, I'm just not sure about the breakfast.

Nice hotel and location.  The hot tub is very relaxing.  Too bad it closes at 10:00pm though.

The airport is very close by.  If the noise of the jet engines taking off is a problem, you may want to stay somewhere else.  I kind of liked seeing and hearing the planes.  So, it did not bother me.

The beds are comfortable and the rooms are clean.

The drain in the shower wasn't the best.

Overall, I liked my stay and I would visit again.

I recently stayed at the Marriott Courtyard for a week and I want to let it be known that for the value of what you pay against what you get, this is an outstanding hotel. Service was always great, the front desk was very professional and helpful. Our room was very modern and spotless throughout our stay, and the maid staff did a great job replenishing the necessities and keeping the room tidy.

Despite being only a couple miles from the airport I never would have known when it was late at night or overnight. The beds are extremely comfortable and the bathrooms are spacious and spotless.

You can't beat the convenience of being just down the road from the airport, so you have very quick access (matter of minutes) to Point Loma, downtown, Old Town, Mission Valley, or about 15 minutes to La Jolla. There are plenty of amenities right up the road too (Trader Joe's, multiple Starbucks, Walgreen's, etc).

The outside of the property facing the water is absolutely gorgeous too, so it is perfect for morning or afternoon walks/runs, or just soaking in the sun. The pool is large enough to enjoy and there is an attached conference center with multiple rooms for corporate use. There is also an indoor restaurant and bar area.

The only negative I can think of is that the gym in the hotel is extremely limited and small; about 4 treadmills, and mostly free weights. Skip the treadmill though and just run outside. Treadmills are for cold climates!

This is a review of the banquet space only.

The rooms are large, well lit, and modern.  The carpets and dance floor are clean and in good shape.  The bathrooms are nice; they've got more space than they really need to, but they don't feel opulent.  It's a delicate balance, and they've struck it well.

The hotel's physical location is wacky.  You're driving through a residential neighborhood, and suddenly, there's an abandoned-looking industrial area with a hotel.  The hotel is surrounded by a weirdly laid out parking lot.  Whose idea was this?

First review of 2015!

My friends and I booked a room here because we were going to a wedding at the Naval Base in Point Loma. We had a great stay here and I must recommend this hotel because it is a great value. Check-in was easy and the staff was very friendly. The front desk was genuinely eager to assist me in order for us to have a great stay. They even offered to try to give us a room on the same floor as the other people who were attending the wedding.

Our room was very spacious and very clean. It accommodated 5 people quite nicely! Huge bathroom and lots of mirror and counter space. We had a nice view of the park outside. I love that there was free parking and easy to access w-fi. Lots of TV channels for enjoying Sunday football and check-out via phone was a breeze. Also, it's about a $12 uber ride from Downtown SD. Perfect.

If I ever need to stay in this area again, I will definitely stay at the Courtyard Marriot!

This is the perfect place to stay because there is a nearby shopping center and a Starbucks that is housed in the hotel. At night, the bar area is open and there is nightlife. The lounge is very trendy and the bar staff is nice. I love the area that this hotel is located in. It is very convenient to shops, the beach and places to eat. I would definitely come back again.

Our stay at this hotel was enjoyable. We had a waterfront view, welcoming staff and the room was very clean. We had 1 regular room with a King sized bed. I was pleasantly surprised to have 2 refrigerators and 1 microwave. The room was a good size. The sofa pulls out into a bed. Our room had its own balcony, although, smoking is not permitted on the property.

The hotel is very close to Little Italy and the plaza the hotel is in has local chain restaurants, like Subway. There is a Vons nearby if you are staying more than 2 days.

The airport is very close. Maybe across Nimitz Bridge. But the hotel windows do a great job blocking the noise.

Why did we only have 4 stars and not 5? Although we could not hear the jets  soaring above, we did hear doors slamming in the hallway and it made sleeping a little uncomfortable. I kept thinking someone was at the door or trying to get inside.

Other than that small con, this hotel is a good choice.

Bottom Line:  Sexier than your typical Courtyard, this hotel conveniently located near the airport, has a full bar and free parking.

I spend somewhere around 70+ nights a year in a hotel and just when I thought all Courtyards were the same, this location really surprised me.  Here is why this Courtyard has earned a solid four stars:

- Larger than many other Courtyards, there is quite a buzz about this place and the energy is better than your usual business-traveler's inn.
- The rooms here are more stylish than your usual Courtyard and I like the halogen accent lights they have in the rooms.  Also, the bathroom has a nice large countertop for all of my girlie stuff.  The rooms are clean too.
- A full bar in the lobby!  So many Courtyards only have beer and wine to wet your whistle but here you can really tie one on.
- Staff is friendly and knowable about the area if you need any pointers. They also do a great job telling you a little about the property regarding dining options.
- "Free" parking.  What I really mean is it's included in the room rate.  If you don't need your car too much, ditch it at the rental car place and the Courtyard will send their shuttle to pick you up.  It's about a $20 cab ride to the Gaslamp.
- In the same parking lot there are some quick eateries so it's nice if you want a casual bite to eat.  If you are up for a little hike, there are also plenty of places to eat and drink in Liberty Station.

So yes, I am definitely a fan.  I can only wish my home-away-from-home Courtyard in Carlsbad was this stylish and fun.

We stayed here for three days and two nights and will do it again soon! Front desk agent Helen (and Erica) were AMAZING!!! This Marriott knows how to hire the right people! Helen acknowledged my kids, was very friendly and found things in common with us to strike a conversation. She wanted to make us feel at home and she did just that! The staff here is a 10 out of 10, we did have a minor hiccup here or misunderstanding but guess who fixed everything? Helen and her supervisor! Now to the things you all care about...

The rooms were very clean! We stayed at one with a King with a sofa and another with two Queens. The bathrooms are nice and big with plenty of counter space. If you stay at a room with a balcony you WON'T be disappointed, the views are great! Pool, hot tub and fire place are nice and clean! Stay for the breakfast buffet, delicious waffles and omelettes made to order. If you come with your kids you can walk along the pathway by the waterfront where you'll find a nice park for the kids to enjoy. You are walking distant to a great sushi place called Sushiya and a short drive from everything else.

We come to SD about 3 times a year and have been to several hotels, this one will always be the one we try to book first!
