If you work for a law firm and need to go to San Diego, you'll likely end up staying here.   The immediate area is just one major firm after another all lined up in a row - kind of disturbing actually.   The Doubletree was really nice.  I, as a vegetarian, will readily admit that the bed was comfy - down and all.  The alarm clock was really easy to operate (they still do wakeup calls for the really lazy or wildly ostentatious).  The products in the bathroom are all from Neutrogena.  I actually liked the moisturizer so much that I have since gone and bought a full-sized bottle of it.  The restaurant downstairs, Sydney's, is good.  I totally recommend their french toast for breakfast.  It is made with nice fluffy bread and has blueberries on top!  Yum.  The warm chocolate chip cookie that they give you upon check in would have been better without the nuts, but I think all cookies are better without nuts.  I think the only real negative of the hotel is that you have to pay for in-room internet access.  You'll probably be here on business though, so just expense it.

This is a very clean hotel.  It has free parking which is a plus.  The chocolate chip cookies are great - just ask at the desk.  I wish they had in room safes and free internet - I think they charge $10 a day for internet service.  The walls seem a little thin as you can here your neighbors.  Ask for a room away from elevator and parking lot.

This hotel definitely sucks big time. All they offer is free cookies.  The customer service is horrible.  I checked in and was supposed to get meal coupons but they ran out.  The guy said they would get it to me in the evening. Lo and behold, nothing ever came and I had to go back to the front desk in the morning to get them.  Horrible!

They barely even deserve a star! This was one of  the worst hotel stays I have ever experienced! They over booked.. And couldn't accommodate us to the room we first reserved... then only offered us cookies to compensate... Which they seemed to run out of by 8 o clock.. Their service was not only horrible.. It was rude! I will never stay there again! And would never reccomend... There's a nice Marriott down the street that is much more accomidating!

$80 on priceline when I named my price.  Not exactly the top area of my choice though, but i'm so glad Priceline exposed me to a new area other than my usual Downtown/Gaslamp.  My room had a view of their gorgeous pool.  The hotel was sold out for the night, but the hotel didn't seem too crowded, which I liked.  I think they were having a soccer tournament because there were a bunch of teenagers there.  
The chocoloate chip cookies are one of the best.  They give you one at check-in (for each guest), but I was able to ask for one each day (thanks!).  The location is a bit far if you want to go to Downtown/Gaslamp area (about 20-30min away).  La Jolla is about 5 min away.   The staff was friendly and the rooms were clean.  They have a business center with free internet.
My favorites are the pool, closes at 10pm though, free parking and the cookies.  Least favorite is the elevators, they only have two and can take long.
I'll definately stay here again.

stayed here when i had a seminar..didn't choose the hotel since this was where the seminar was being held...concierge/front desk was very friendly as i checked in and i was given the infamous doubletree cookie upon completion...as i entered my room it was a small quaint room..with the basic hotel necessities...as i pu t my luggage away i decided to see what all the fuss about this cookie was about...i pull it out of the little paperbag and to my surprise it was nice and warm and fresh!...chocolate walnut cookie..warm. gooey with crisp edges nomnomnomnom indeed!...i liked how the complimentary toiletries were neutregena, also with sunblock facial lotion...the seminar room itself the next morning was a basic room with tables and a overhead projector..there was fruit and pastries, fresh coffee and fruit juice that greated us each morning...no need for breakfast at all...the lunch menu was small but had great choices...i decided to have the spice rub salmon salad with a honey mustard dressing and it was delicious...so good i decided tp lay it safe and order it again the next day! :) for the afternoon snack we were treated with more of the famous doubletree cookies! but this time they were sprinkled with powder sugar and were served room temperature...they were still good but having them warm and gooey was the best! i recommend serving them fresh and warm! mmmm...i would definitely stay at another doubletree hotel again :)

Stayed for a business trip for my company. All the business amenities you'd expect, TV, internet,  iron and ironing board, hair dryer, coffee maker, automated voice mail and wake up calls. Located a couple miles from the ocean but far enough away from the main city that it's a relaxing stay.

Great place to stay, especially considering I got it on Priceline for only $48/night on a weekend.  Sweet deal!  Too bad we didn't get a chance to use the pool....it was really neat looking and even had a little 1 foot wading pool for the little ones.   I'm deducting a star since my coffee maker didn't look like it had been cleaned out very well.  :(  Not a welcome sight at all.  Other than that, it was a good stay with super yummy cookies upon check in.

This is a great hotel, no charge for parking, free cookies (although they claim they are out quite a bit), decent pool/gym, etc. Clean rooms, attentive staff. Overall, a wonderful hotel and a great place to stay, if getting away from downtown SD is what you're looking for. Highly recommend it to everyone!

The hotel is under renovation: understandable. Before you even check in, they give you a warm, chocolate chip cookie and then everything went downhill from there. We were attending a wedding in Carlsbad, went back and had some drinks at the bar which closed @ 10pm on a Saturday, luckily the bartender: Kyle was awesome & easy on the eyes!! ;) Went back to our room to hang out, not knowing we were on the tween floor why would you have a young couple stay on the same floor??? We had several complaints according to the high school dropout,  rent a hotel security guards who came to our room and told us we had to leave which we didn't then they fined us $150.00. UNBELIEVABLE, This hotel SUCKS so hard!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stayed here on vacation for a night.  It was the most unsatisfying hotel stay i have ever experienced...  The pool is not as impressive as the pictures make it seem, the walls are think enough to hear the couple next door having a conversation, the included breakfast was as good as a high school cafeteria, and WORST OF ALL my room was INFESTED WITH BED BUGS!!!  I only found out a few nights later when I woke up in my home with itchy red spots all over my body!.  I had to Wash and vacuum everything in my room after setting off bug poison bombs next to my bed...  I wasn't able to comfortably sleep in my house for a week until I knew they were gone.  This was the worst stay I have had at any hotel.....gross...

Thanks, Priceline! I was very comfortable here during the San Diego stretch of my vacation. The beds were comfortable and the TV had good channels. Parking was free and plentiful. My one gripe was that the internet was slow. However, the hot fresh cookies made up for that.

Doubletree Del Mar made our track team's two night stay in San Diego immensely comfortable.  In addition to providing small luxuries such as cookies at check-in and 200-count bedding, Doubletree's staff really went out of their way to take care of us.  For instance, when I was doing some late night reading in the lobby, one of their attendants graciously offered to turn down the music in the main room.  And when, following our Friday afternoon victories at the UCSD track, my teammates and I shyly requested a few more of Doubletree's delicious chocolate chip cookies, the man at the front desk happily obliged.

A few small snags along the way kept this otherwise fabulous hotel from a 5-star rating.  They charge $10 for wireless internet, a ridiculous price when one considers the fact that it is free in so many other locations these days.  And the shower controls are, without a doubt, the most bizarre I've seen: one lever for temperature control, another to switch from shower to bath, and some kind of two-step sequence required to turn the thing on or off.

Still, Doubletree Del Mar is a gorgeous hotel, impeccably staffed and situated conveniently close to I-5; definitely worth a try if you're in the area.

Service was overall mediocre. There was no complimentary breakfast which kinda sucks.  The room we stayed in was pretty nice and clean. I have severe allergies, so I would know if the sheets are dirty. In general we have a pretty good experience staying here. The only minus I would say is the construction that's going on right on top of our room.. My husband and I was woken up at 9 am in the morning by a loud banging construction sound from the upper level. We call the front desk, and it was immediately stopped. About an hour later, the banging sounds was continued. Also, I believe the walls are extremely thin. From time to time, I could hear conversation on the room next door. I'm not sure I would stay here again next time. Its not that bad...It's just there's nothing really special.

Mostly agree with other reviewers who found this property to deliver a high quality stay with one glaring exception. The restaurant buffet on Sunday morning was understaffed and obviously poorly managed. We watched busboys clear tables and place setups without wiping down surfaces. Staff were not keeping an eye on hot items to insure that they were properly stocked and, probably worst of all, we were directed to a "clean" table that had neither napkins or silverware. We also had to hunt for a server to get coffee and prepare bill when we were ready to leave. So, if you avoid the restaurant you can pretty much count on a pleasant stay in a convenient Carmel Valley location with a really good bed. Despite the food service we would definitely stay there again.

My first SD hotel. I can't wait to come back.

I requested for a LATE LATE check in because I knew we were gonna go out and party that night. When we got there, the Night Auditor didn't have a problem at all. He knew we were tired, so he gave us our keys and COOKIES. oh so damn good COOKIES.

I was so coocoo for their Cookies, I asked for 5 more that night plus another 2 when I checked out.

The room was clean and smelled like any regular hotel room. They did accomodate our late check out but still had Housekeeping knocking on our door @ 12noon.

Looking forward to those cookies again ; )

My friends and I stayed here the night before her wedding. We checked in around 11:30 pm. On the way up to our room, two young adults came onto the elevator. One had a needle and syringe in his hand. They got off the same floor as us. When they walked into their room, smoke came pouring out of the room. The smell of marijuana was so strong. We were about 4-5 rooms down. Our entire room smelt horribly of marijuana. Around midnight, we placed a call down to the front desk to have someone come check out the room and smell. Nothing was done. Until about 3 am we heard people running up and down the halls screaming and yelling. When we went to get coffee in the morning, we were greeted by the EMT in the hall with a naked man who passed out in the hall. After speaking with the front desk again, all they could say was they were still investigating and didn't know what room it what. Umm.. how about the room where music was blaring, people were screaming, etc. They offered us breakfast cards there however, they were only good for that day. We were not interested in spending anymore time than need be at this hotel. We were suppose to hear back from the manager in regards to our stay and have heard nothing. I would never stay here again. Staff didn't seem to want to confront anyone for their illegal activity, rather they would like all other guests to lose sleep and be upset.

I love going on Stay-cation! This past weekend we decided to gamble with Priceline and ended up at his hidden gem. We never get up to Del Mar/North County in general so we were looking forward to spending some time up there.

you win points just because we got a ridiculously cheap rate so we felt like we were getting a good deal.

you lose points because we are big fans of customer service and left believing that the front desk agent really was going to call us  as promised when our room was ready. Since it was the day after the 4th of July we understand that you were sold out and we couldn't check in early but we showed up after check in time and the agent looked at us like he never saw us before.

They also offer free shuttle service within 5 miles, so we were able to head out for dinner and the bars that night knowing that we would be brought back in one piece by throwing a tip to the driver.

Also, on a positive note- the room was cute, clean, and the perfect size for us. The bed was very comfortable and we didnt really hear much highway noise from our room.

The pool was a plus as well- I have never been in a salt pool before versus chlorine so that was a change. There was a small wading pool for the kiddies and also a hot tub, outdoor showers, beverage service-- and also NO special key or code for guests to enter and lounge out. I think they may be seeing us again soon!

We decided to spend our last few days in SD here before we move out of state. We picked this hotel due to its proximity to our old place. The good points: location, welcome warm cookies when you check in, spacious and clean rooms. For improvement: service staff not very friendly except for night custodian who helped us out, ask extra towels from cleaning lady but she answered she didn't have any and left it at that, the electronic keys in the room would sometimes work and sometimes not, food at fifty six and five wasn't that good and servers could use some "delightful" service.

I stayed the Doubletree in June of 2009 with my girlfriend when visiting from Vegas.  We booked the room on Priceline for $69 + tax, which was a great deal for the area.  It wasn't exactly in Del Mar, but it was very close and the hotel had a free shuttle that took us to the fair.  Of course the cookies are great at the front desk.  My only real complaint was that the room had a queen sized bed and not a king.  Oh well.

I always hold out till the last minute to get a hotel when I come home to San Diego. Its just not something I think about since I've grown up there. It's home. Who stays at a hotel when they're home?! Unfortunately... me. But its San Diego so it all evens out.

I, too, lost my Priceline virginity to get this place. At a steal for $51/night. WOW! I was ready to slap down $45/night for a shady motel in the hood. The hotel is located in Del Mar (or really, Carmel Valley). Its right off the freeway and easy to get to and honestly, only a 5 min drive to Del Mar if you really wanted to go to the beach. It's in a business center and there is an AM/PM and a Taco Bell across the street if you need some brews and chalupas.

I called to ask for an early check-in and was given the okay without hesitation. When I check in, they greeted me with a warm freshly baked scrumptious cookie for my walk up to the room. Best part!

The room was a decent size, modern and clean. The blankets, sheets, pillows and towels were clean too. Best sleep I ever had.

The cleaning service was great. They made my bed so tight you can bounce a quarter off it and replaced all the free Neutrogena toiletries every day. I love Neutrogena!

I stayed 3 nights and loved it. The price was great!

Downside, the parking lot filled up at night and they had pretty small spaces. Most people double-parked. Oh yeah.. and no continental breakfast?! I Even a Motel 8 offers that.

My wife and I stayed at the hotel a week ago and were extremely pleased.  Our room was very nice and clean; the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable.  When we returned home I went online and ordered one of their down feather pillows.  All of the staff we had contact with were extremely courteous and helpful.  We would definitely stay here again.  The hotel has very close and easy access to the freeway and is very close to a shopping center that has many fine restaurants.

Good location, decent happy hour. Rooms are very nice. The main attraction seems to be the warm cookie upon your arrival. Free parking. Definately worth the stay, but again no free net. Even motel 6 has free wifi.

Our office is located near the Doubletree which is convenient for attending happy hour events after work. However, this morning we headed over to the Doubletree hotel to take advantage of their breakfast buffet.

The buffet included french toast, eggs, roasted potatoes, fruit, pastries, croissants, muffins, cereal, oatmeal, etc. It was all pretty basic at $14 a head.

Unfortunately, after I got my plate of fruit I noticed two tiny bugs crawling all over my strawberries. That was pretty gross. I ended up pushing the fruit to the side and ate the rest of my breakfast.

Overall, I've experienced better. If you come here for breakfast, be sure to check your food before biting into it.

The prices here are affordable and the parking situation is great. I like the free cookies they give and I also like the layout of the interior.
Howerver, the room service is slow and the walls here are too thin. My sister just got married so we decided to bring back 10 of the guests to continue mingling after the event. We were talking, not yelling but we were told to be quiet and hang out in the lobby. The bitches next door even had the nerve to yell at the bride by telling her to 'shut the fuck up.' WOW. It's not my fault cheap labor made the walls here so damn thin!
I won't stay here anymore solely because of that foul experience. I know it's not the hotel's fault but they could have made better arrangements for the rooms since they knew that the whole party was staying at this hotel. Instead they chose to spread us apart on different floors. Oh well.

Watch out for the housekeeping staff! They stole a very expensive, sentimental ring from my jewelry box. After calling the housekeeping manager, the sales manager who booked the room for the wedding who said she would speak to the general manager, I heard NOTHING back! I know which day the ring was stolen so they should know who cleaned the room that day. Very disappointing and heartbroken to lose the ring my father gave me. STAY AWAY!!!

Excellent breakfast included with your stay, fruit was surprisingly fresh (strawberries and cantelope in particular) in addition to the standard panoply of breakfast buffets: pancakes, eggs, salsa, potatoes, cereal, and decent coffee for a hotel.  

Other highlight was the pool and hot tub area, landscaped with palm trees, open space, and of course, plenty of sunshine.

Serious drawbacks are that the walls are incredibly thin - especially considering the price!  We could hear our neighbors normal conversation just sitting in the living room. Not to mention the bathroom.

Further, they originally gave us the keys to someone else's room - literally, we walked in and saw all their belongings strewn about their room, luckily they weren't present.

Last, the elevators are insufficient for the traffic. We waited often and for long periods of time. Finally, there is lack of parking spaces due to construction and people were parking in other businesses' parking lots out of necessity.

Very nice! Very enjoyable stay and have nothing bad to say. Management is doing a great job from start to finish. Special shout out to the bar and wait staff to AJ and Brandon who handled the shuttle service to a tee. Departed on time and was picked up on time! Awesome! Food and beverage was great as was the nice touch with the gentleman who sang and played the guitar Thursday night poolside. Clean, affordable and minutes from all the great restaurants that Del Mar has to offer. Also, lets not forget Del Mar racetrack which is only minutes away. If you like to drive yourself it's seconds away from freeway access. Me, I'll leave the driving to AJ and Brandon. Good job everybody! See you next time.

The Hotel Del is a nice place but I can't help but feel like its too old. I would probably recommend this place for an older couple or a family but if you are under 40 there are better options in Del Mar.

The Good:  The pool is large and the kids liked it.  There is bar in the lobby.  The rate was cheap: $110/night.  It is one exit from Del Mar.

The Bad:  The walls are THIN.  I heard my neighbors throat clearing, conversations, and climax (that part was OK).  The breakfast buffet, which we got for free in our package was nothing I would ever eat if it was not free.  And when I drained the tub, the toilet flushed and then sloshed.  The two are connected.  I am no plumber, but yuck.  

I am not upset that I stayed here/.  But I will look for alternatives before I stay here again.

I stayed here for an entire week, though not just as a guest. My organization hosted our annual conference here.

The location is not far from the airport which is very convenient, and it's right off a main highway--though, that only affects convenience, not ambiance.

The staff were absolutely fantastic. Everyone from every department knew our names and constantly made sure we were taken care of to no end.

The food was all fantastic, including the special in-house baked cookies--I gained a little weight the first couple days.

We were all very pleased with the attention from the staff and the great overall feel of the Double Tree, would strongly recommend.

We stayed here overnight on a quick trip down to SD to meet up. Checking in was a breeze and considering that I got this place on Priceline for 90 bucks I couldn't really complain. The chocolate cookies were amazing upon check-in. I really enjoyed the gooey ghiradelli chocolate chips in there. The only downside is that the hotel is located right off of highway 56. Seriously right off of it. Like the majority of it borders the freeway which accounts for a lot of noise. Fortunately when traveling, I always have access to a huge supply of green earplugs so noise usually isn't an issue for me.

The two things that really made me dock stars was that when we checked in, the room that we were originally given had soap in the bathtub. Used by the last occupant with their hair stuck on the soap type of soap. Really made me wonder on how well they cleaned the place.... like REALLY. It was annoying since we checked in completely exhausted from a day of running around SD on a freakishly hot day and we had to wait for the concierge/front desk to reassign us a room.

Another negative star goes to the fact that they don't have king beds in the regular rooms. They're all queens. EH!? Hmph....

Honestly I've had better luck with Priceline... Last time we got La Jolla Hilton for 75 and the view was awesome!

Plus side to this hotel is that the parking was FREE. And that bodes really well with my cheap asian side.

I bid on Priceline and was super excited to get this hotel. It's listed as a 3 star hotel but I think it meets my criteria for 3.5. Great hotel with well appointed rooms, HUGE pool, lovely patio furniture, jacuzzi, gym and how can I forget the complimentary cookies! Definitely worth the hotel stay. Great for families and close to San Diego and not too far from Oceanside/Carlsbad either. We took a family trip to Legoland and this hotel was great for all of our needs! :)

I stayed here during a business trip and was fairly impressed overall. They accommodated our few special requests and every time we asked for their special cookies, they gave it to us with a smile. No questions asked. We must have asked for 2 cookies each time we walked into the building and there was no problem. They were warm too! yummy!

Room itself was fairly clean. Price is reasonable. They have a decent breakfast room and a bar and pool. It is located very near the highway so it is easy access to get around town. The only problem I had was with some minor services. We asked for more towels and they never showed up after waiting over an hour. We called again and they came up pretty fast the second time around.

Overall, it wasn't a bad experience and I would stay here again if I needed to.

We stayed here for a few days while enjoying a stay-cation in San Diego. The hotel is conveniently located about 20 minutes from Sea World and the San Diego Zoo and there were plenty of restaurants, both high-end and casual, for easy meals.

Entering the hotel's parking lot is slightly tricky, but if you miss the first driveway, you can turn at the next light and enter via the business park entrance. The front desk staff were a joy to deal with and everytime our kids walked up to the desk, they were readily presented with warm chocolate chip cookies (yummy).

The hotel and our room were very clean, but I was disapointed with the lack of a safe in the room. Most rooms provide a safe, so I took it for granted that there would be one and I was sadly mistaken (lesson learned).

I've read several reviews complaining about the thin walls, but I can't say that this was my experience. Additionally, we asked for a poolside room (which we received) and the view was great. Our kids could play in the pool while we watched them from the room.

Speaking of the pool, it was great! It had plenty of room to move around, plus there was a small wading pool and a separate jacuzzi. Since the hotel is located within a business park, there weren't very many families staying here, so we didn't have to deal with a gaggle of screaming children. Don't get me wrong, we traveled with our kids, but they're older and I just don't have the patience for young, screaming kids. My only complaint (of the pool) is the landscaping. The jacuzzi sits right beside a huge palm tree that drops flowers and other matter into the water, making it difficult to soak without becoming covered in this stuff.

My only other complaint, is the elevator situation. Both elevators have a rear door that is used by the cleaning staff. I am not above riding on an elevator with service staff, but I DO NOT appreciate being packed in like a sardine with 5 maids and their laundry carts. The elevators (comfortably) fit 5-9 adults (9 being on the generous side and only if you have no bags). As I rode down from the 4th floor, the elevator stopped at each floor and the maids ( who failed to use common sense) just kept shoving themselves in with their carts. I had to paste myself up against the wall to avoid having my feet rolled over by one of the carts. I appreciate efficiency and making the most of a space, but that should not come at the expense of guests.

Our room rate included daily breakfast, which was pretty good. I can't say that the food was anything to brag about, but it was convenient and the servers were very attentive. The free parking was also great! Especially compared to the $15-30 charged by the other hotels in the area.

Overall, I was happy with the hotel.

I recently had a big bday bash for my daughters 1st bday here.  We had 100+ people and the hotel, specifically Bill(catering manager) did a fantastic job of making this day very special for us.  Bill was very attentive and always returned my emails and calls promptly during the 3 months of planning. Im pretty picky when it comes to details and i can't say enough about how helpful he was during the entire process. He and his team were so amazing and even came in at 6:30 am the day of the party to help me decorate the room and were so helpful throughout the day. The entire day went smoothly and I was very pleased with the outcome.

I also wanted to give huge praise to the chef who created and prepared a wonderful and delicious menu. We got lots of compliments from everyone on how yummy the food was and the presentation was also very beautiful. We never considered dining here before the party but will certainly come back often to enjoy his cooking.

My husband and I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to have a party or conference here.

I had a great and comfortable one night stay at the Doubletree in San Diego/Del Mar. The rooms are honestly comparable to any room at another 4 star hotel including to stays I have had at the Hyatt and Hilton. I could tell the room I stayed in had all the standard newly renovated features including new furniture and a more modern feeling all around.

I would not say the location is the best to where you can walk to local attractions although it is very conveniently located near the 5 freeway which is a good outlet for getting around.

Nothing really negative to say about the Doubletree in San Diego/Del Mar aside from the need for more or better serviced elevators. I stayed on the 5th floor(also the top floor) and it took about 5 minutes at one point just for the elevator to reach the top floor and go down to the lobby. The elevator really seemed overused and it showed definite signs of depreciation.

   * Liked -- Comfortable bed and quiet setting provided for a great nights sleep
   * Disliked -- Elevator showed signs of depreciation

Great swimming pool area with fire pit and tv surrounded by comfy lounge seating area.  Lobby was kinda small but we didn't really sit there so I don't care too much for that.

As for our standard room, it was clean and decent looking but I would not give this hotel 5 stars because their bathroom sliding doors were SOO ANNOYING!!  If you don't close the bathroom door the way, it has this annoying "thumping" sound that just gave me a headache!  Other than that, we were pleased with our room and comfortness level.

More like 2.5 stars!  For a hotel that charges $15 for breakfast, you'd think the breakfast would be good!  Food was very dry...eggs, muffins, potatos, waffles...very disappointing!  If you are ok eating just cereal or yogurt only (packaged food), then you'll probably enjoy your breakfast more.

Besides the bad breakfast experience and bthrm door issue, I thought they had GREAT service!  They were willing to upgrade my friend's room with no additional charge when we complained about the room location.  And I thought service was great in the dining area too.  Very friendly staff.

Overall, I thought this hotel was OKAY.  Would I come back?  Probably...just need to buy breakfast outside.

Yowza in a bad way.  I don't know what they're doing, but the second floor smelled like sewage.  If it smells that bad they should just shut down the floor.  Unfortunately, I had recommended clients go to the Doubletree a few days prior to my arrival.

For the price, smell, and uber-soft bed, I can't recommend this place to others.  If I was travelling with family or friends, I would have cancelled the day of and found another place.

Everyone in our group got a special group rate for their rooms, during our event there, but for whatever reason they charged me 50% more & wouldn't refund the amt at the group rate.  Odd.  They didn't handle my calls well either.  Professional enough, just not responsive & ultimately I didn't get the refund.
Our dirty dishes from the event on Saturday were still out on the patio the next day, about 24 hours later.  Not acceptable.  
The rooms are nice & beds comfortable but why rip off & lose a returning customer over a few dollars?  I won't go back.

Superb customer service specially Cristina of the front desk. We are staying here till Sunday and so far all our requests have been accommodated.  The rooms are clean.  The hotel itself is outstanding and I love the location. It's near Westfield mall which has the arclight cinemas,  fashion valley with its numerous movie theatres, zoo etc!

I have stayed twice. The first time was better than the 2nd. Based on those two visits:

the price
the cookie (although this time they either ran out or forgot)
the breakfast - yum
the hot tub - great
the beds - comfortable
the staff - pretty good
the parking - free and easy

the last time I was there the room smelled bad and the tv reception was bad. They told me I should have said something but I checked in at 10:30p and I was too tired to deal with it, plus they said it was the last room. (I think it was the blankets that smelled)
the bathroom door slides and it is hard to be quiet when sharing the room
the elevators are slow and there are only two
the hotel has no espresso (maybe silly but high on my list of desires). I was told that the machine broke and never got fixed.

If it weren't for the smell, I would give it 4 stars. I will try to find somewhere else because of that.

Very clean and modern rooms. Beds are super comfy. FREE parking (and plenty) Nice pool. Yummy chocolate chip cookies. It's about 15min to Downtown/Old town SD and beaches and attractions.
Main reason we chose is that they accept pets! We used to stay at la quinta inn mission valley because of our dog. But Doubletree is MUCH nicer for us, baby and dog but similar pricing. (check priceline/orbitz etc. you don't get the free continental breakfast/ fridge/microwave like la quinta--but its nicer here) If you go up the street, you'll reach a Towncenter with restaurants, shops and fast food options

Stayed at the Doubletree two nights this past week.
The hotel is clean, the bed was super comfy, the staff are friendly and the room price is very reasonable (and free parking).  The hotel is located in a business park area, but is a short drive to the downtown Del Mar area and very close to the freeways.  Only minus for me is that the wi-fi was not complimentary.  They charged $9.95 (for what seems to be a business hotel I'd think wi-fi would be free), and when I got my bill I had 3 charges for the wi-fi.  I took the bill to the front desk and they quickly removed the other two charges.

I stayed at the Doubletree over Labor Day weekend. I was greeted by a pleasant man at the front desk. He checked me in right away and gave me the most delicious chocolate chip walnut cookie I've ever eaten.

Another great thing about this hotel is they allow pets! I was worried the hotel room was not going to be that nice since I had my dog with me, but boy was I wrong. The hotel room was clean and tastefully decorated. The bed was comfortable.

The cookie alone sold me on the hotel. I also received a state employee discount.  I will definitely stay at this hotel again.

Ok, but the bed was soft and and the walls are thin.
Maybe I'm used to a firm bed, but it felt like I was sleeping on a giant pillow.  Maybe you can request a firm bed, I don't know.  Not good for my back and was hard to sleep on.

The other thing I didn't like is that it had a double door to an adjoining room and you could hear everything the people in the other room were saying.  We walking into our room hearing another couple argue.  Then they left the TV on all night till 6am.  I could hear every word.  I guess it's a crap shoot who you get as neighbors.  They were not there the 2nd night.

Also, it's nice they have an air purifier in some of the rooms.  Only thing is that kind of air purifier emits a small amount of ozone, which may or may not be good for you.

The staff was really nice and the restaurant was pretty good, so there are some good things.  It's also not that expensive.

The staff at this location is horrible. The room was nice however the wifi was slow and one day I had to take a cold shower bc there was no hot water. On the day of check out, at 8 am, housekeeping knocked on my door to see if they could clean the room early. When I checked in I asked them to change the card I had on file but when I checked out they had not changed the card and informed me my original card had been charged. I would not stay here again.

I really enjoyed our stay here.
The bed was very comfy, nice linens and pillows. AC worked great. Check in was easy, checkout even easier using the TV.
The pool area was my favorite. Very nice drinks at happy hour, fire, TVs, good music and comfortable seating. Very relaxing.
Would like to see a fridge in the room, and, as others have stated, the bathroom door  is bad. A regular door is great. Door knobs are good.

Ok, let me say that this is my favorite place to stay in the San Diego area.  Is it because of the great hotel... no not really, nice by not the best I've ever stayed.  It's because the desk clerks and staff are simply amazing!  Megan was on shift during our last stay both nights we were there.  She was amazing, willing to accommodate and always had a super smile on!  I made a point to stop and thank the manager for her service.   Pool area is beautiful! Yeah a little pricey sometimes depending on the time of year but it's worth it to me to know what your getting!

Very happy with our overnight stay at this hotel. The room was nice and clean as well as the bathroom. Although, the window that overlooked our beautiful view of the parking lot could have used a good cleaning. The pool is nice and big and we had a lot of fun doing some night swimming. Only bummer was that the bubbles to the jacuzzi were not working. Other than that I have no other complaints. Free parking was also a plus and lots of nearby restaurants. We chose Gami Sushi and it was delish! I would stay here again if we were passing through!

I would like to start off this review on the note that I've been a happy Double Tree- Hilton customer for several years until my recent nightmare of an experience at the hands of Dan Fonte Manager of DoubleTree by Hilton, Del Mar.

As part of my business, I book several events & mixers for my clients.

Usually without a hitch. Great Food, Great Service.

My most recent dinner for over 20 Health Care Professionals was anything but a success. But a disaster!

Without going into lengthy details. The event was an expensive & complete failure.

The management was completely unorganized & incompetent.

When I asked management to rectify & assume responsibility for their short comings it was not a pleasant experience.

Dan Fonte, was condescending and sarcastic. He hung up when I questioned if he was the manager based on his behavior. His speech to a customer is absolutely not of the quality that Hilton management usually upholds. Hospitality is their major. I would not recommend any event at this location. This type of experience can ruin your business.

My hopes are that Hilton will bring management up to the quality the staff and customers deserve..

Until then I can no longer do business with or recommend this Hotel to anyone in the future.

We stayed one night after the races at Del Mar. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The free parking was a huge selling point when booking. Feels like the cater to business travelers, but it's still adequate for those vacationing.

It was a surprise that the junior suite did not have a fridge. That would've been a major inconvenience if our stay was longer.

As a business traveler, you rarely luck out with a hotel that offers both work and play amenities, but I was impressed to find a little of both at the Doubletree Del Mar. It's conveniently located right off I-5, has plenty of free parking, spacious rooms, and friendly service. As a HH member, you get the full breakfast buffet spread, free internet, and extra cookies. Damn those delicious cookies.

They've got a nice outdoor lounging area near the pool, not your typical yellowing plastic chairs, but really nice dark wicker furniture with comfy cushions. A nice place to unwind with a cocktail after work. Or hang inside at the bar, which has multiple TVs playing every sports channel in existence. If you're into that...

The only funky thing was the thumping rave music playing in the dining area during breakfast. No club beats before I've had my coffee, please.

My family and I checked in on Dec 28, we arrived, went upstairs, dropped our luggage off and headed out for dinner.  When we returned our room smelled horrendous.  We weren't quite sure where the smell was coming from until we went in the bathroom (that no one had used).  It had an odor of a sewer drain and it had seeped through the entire room.  My three children were ready for bed, they had a hard time using the bathroom as the smell was so bad.  My husband had to get up early the next morning as well.
I went downstairs to speak with the front desk at 8:30pm.  I explained to them how bad the smell was, they told me they were booked and could not offer me a new room.  We stayed in room 541 on the Hilton Honors floor.  I asked if someone could come up to the room and spray or do something to make the smell go away.  30-40 minutes later at 9pm, maintenance showed up, sprayed the vents and drains.  He informed me that the vent in the bathroom ran right next to the sewer pipe.
The odor was gone/covered for the time being.  When we awoke the next morning, it was back.  This is completely unacceptable.  I paid $180 for my room and had to smell sewer??
I wrote an email to Hilton over a week ago and they have not responded. This is not a way to keep clients.

Choco-chip cookies always brings me back to Double Tree hotels.  
here's my run down of DT in Del Mar.

Staff were excellent.  Very helpful and quick to respond.  
We got to our room and first thing we always check is if the sheets are clean and there was sad to say there were stains on the sheet.  Called the front desk and they sent someone in 5 minutes.  While it should not have happened, the fact they responded quickly was such a relief as most hotels take forever to send someone.

Parking spaces are small. I think they should repaint the parking lot to have more generous parking spots.  On a good note is that parking is free!  So was wifi.  

Convenient location.  close to shopping, freeway.  

Hotel was well insulated from outside noise so even though close to highway, you hardly will hear the road noise.  However, I have to say, noise in hallways is a diff story as we can hear conversations going on outside our room.  

Gym was decent.  Cardio, some dumbbells.  Used it to get a light work out.  Towels are provided.  

Overall, a good hotel to stay.  Would definitely come back.

The lack of screens on the windows was crappy to me, especially with bushes and flower boxes right in front of the window. Like another Yelper, I saw a good-sized spider in a hole in front of the window sill; the web was off to the side, so it was basically waiting for its next meal. I went downstairs to switch rooms, told the guys at the desk the reason why, and one of them almost laughed. Not cool. The next room had yet another web in the same area of the sill, but no spider, so I was like whatever.

The bed was comfy; the cookies were yummy; the bartender in the lounge poured a nice Bombay and tonic; and parking is free.

I was there on business so it was good for a two day stay.

I am gonna give this a 5, to compensate for some - a bit unfair - lower ratings.

Stayed here several times. All via priceline. They seem to have the lowest priceline bid, so if you start bidding low around $50 and up, you'll likely end up winning this place.

The good stuff:
- Very clean overall
- Bed and sheets are great
- Free shuttle bus
- Free parking (YES!!!!)
- Cheap for what you get (if you use priceline)
- Free cookies (not sure why this is a big deal, but since everyone mentioned it)

- No fridge! Yeah it's 3*
- Who designed the bathroom door? Fire him!
- Gimme free wifi, please?????

One of the worst stays in a hotel we have ever had. We had to leave for 3 hours before.our air conditioning cooled.the room enough to be comfortable. Don't stay on the first floor because there is not an ice machine. They said buffet breakfast which was implied that it was free until we made a plate of food... This Mexican lady came up and was really rude said it was 15.99 or 50.99 probably 15, bit she took our plate away and gave us a dirty look. Don't stay in room 109 either cuz the shower sucks. It's either 300 degrees or 30. And the door to the bathroom slides into the wall and its really heavy and the paint is scrubbed off the inside. I'll stop now. Just don't stay here. Is rather stay at a motel 6.

All my life I always wanted to stay at a DoubleTree. Back then whenever I would plan a stay around San Diego, I would use a travel guide from a Denny's to look for coupons or discounts from various hotels, and when I see the DoubleTree pages the pics of their rooms look nice, clean and pristine.  

I wouldn't even spend on a hotel stay without a good deal thanks to my fiancé's company for making it possible for paying our stay here, it finally fulfilled my curiosity.

After a Del Mar horse race event we stayed here for one night. When we checked in we had fresh complimentary cookies, like Mrs. Field sizes and the cookies were warm, they were sweet but I ate them all.

The rooms were comfy midsized, the bed was thick, fluffy, and it made me sleep like a baby, also the bed was faced toward the hotel window overlooking the swimming pool. Flat screen tv, spacious bathroom, a portrait of a horse race on the wall, the Del Mar Horse races is just a few miles away.

Lounge bar is down stairs which I've haven't been to but enough to see a good crowd at night.

Breakfast was cool, buffet style, potatoes, scrambled eggs, sausages, cereals, orange juice and milk, as well as coffee.

Overall in my opinion the best three star hotel to-date, would stay here again if any discount promotions come up, nothing more than that. Comfort and a friendly staff is key here.

The best things about this hotel are the location, free cookies, bar and the parking. The only negative is the elevator - 2 for the whole hotel. Rooms are clean.  Staff is very friendly and express check out was polite. The view of my room was the pool and it was pretty. If you wanna stay away from the group of tourists in SD this is the hotel for you. Would definitely stay here again.

For the price, this is a great place to stay. Their rooms are clean, the swimming pool is well kept and clean, and heated during cold weather. The gym is a bit small.
Their best offer is their free breakfast with a great selection from fresh fruit to hot meals, i.e., bacon and eggs. Their dining is alright, but their food even though a bit pricey is quite delicious.

I stayed at this Double Tree for three nights for a training class that took place at the hotel. I've stayed at Double Trees before, so I had high expectations. Like all Double Trees, you get a warm cookie when you check in, and OMG it is one of the best cookies ever! Nice touch.
Anyway, the lobby and meeting rooms are very nice and elegant, so I thought that that was applicable to the rooms as well. Uh, no. The room smelled like mothballs, which was totally random and weird, so I aired out the room with the fresh ocean breeze by opening the windows. The room was very small, and with the exception of the pretty san diego pictures on the wall, looked like a Motel 6 room. It had popcorn ceilings, no safe, no refrigerator, and there was NO way that bed was a king bed. I have one at home, I should know. But the bed was comfortable, so I'll give them credit for that.
The weirdest thing about the room was that the fire sprinkler in the bathroom was inches from the shower rod, and the ceilings in the bathroom were low as it is. I was so paranoid that my hot shower, or hanging my towel on the shower rod would set that puppy off. It didn't, but the location is odd anyway.
The worst part was the wake up call at 5AM one morning. I didn't want to be woken up at some disgusting hour in the morning!! I understand it was probably a misdialed number, but 5AM!! Needless to say, that was a long day.
Overall, I was disappointed with this Double Tree in Del Mar of all places. It's more of a Motel 6 with a nice lobby and great pools. For the price, you'd be better off staying at a cheaper hotel that has more amenities, OR stay at the Marriot across the street.

Where's my Chocolate Chip cookie b4 bed?  

Situated on the fork to the 805S and the 5S in Del Mar,  this Doubletree is a great location to drive to the beaches,  downtown SD or inland to East SD County. I've stayed here a few times for client/work meetings.  I like that it's close to my parents home also.    This hotel offers a good respite from the touristy areas of La Jolla and Del Mar.  I avoid touristy hotels because they are oftentimes too noisy and way overpriced for what they are.  This hotel is quiet and has comfortable rooms.   This time I got a courtesy upgrade and was placed in a feather free/allergy friendly room.  I have allergies to dust but felt I didn't need one but wow what a good nights sleep, there was a quiet filter which also ionized the air, it was quiet and effective.   I think I will keep asking for the upgrade, LOL.  

Very polite staff and let's not forget the nice warm Chocolate Chip cookie (sometimes I ask for two and get 4?  LOL... so nice of them) they provide you in the evening or during checkin.

I like this hotel....  it's small and feels like a boutique hotel

Breakfast buffet in the morning is reasonably priced.

Parking is free.  WIFI is not.

I come here pretty much every single Friday afternoon for Happy Hour since my job is a block away. I love the bartender here she is so nice! We always sit outside when the weather is nice because they have sofa sectionals around fire pits. They have great house chardonnay which I personally love :) The service here is great and the happy hour prices are great. I love their appetizers too! Will be there tonight!

It's a nice hotel. Easy checkin, but our room didn't have any towels. And the pool was dirty. Not bad enough for three stars and definitely not good enough for five.

So later that night, I had to charge my phone, so I plugged it in the plug next to the bedstand. Both outlets were broken. And I just realized we were missing a whole bunch of shit, like the Welcome papers and whatnot. They usually give us that stuff on the beds.

I would give this hotel at least four stars, except for the fact that they lack in customer service. Specifically the bar staff during happy hour. Kristy treated my friends and I with complete indifference, and it is my belief that our appearances dictated our treatment. We had traveled approximately 8 hours for a memorial service, and felt the need to unwind. No, we did not exude wealth as many of the guests, but we were paying guests who express appreciation through tipping. I happen to be heavily tattooed, and my friend is an older gentleman of color. We waited in line in excess of 10 minutes as numerous patrons were permitted to place orders ahead of us. When we spoke up, Kristy dismissed our inquiry and apologized to the other guests for our behavior! The following evening my friend was adamantly ignored, that is until he went to the front desk and complained. The hotel in a whole was sufficient, but based on the waitstaff stereotyping we will never stay here again

I'll definitely be coming back, had a great stay here and just the right spot in north county.  But I this is in North County / Del Mar area.  There's a decent selection of food spots around and the 5 and 56 is just across the way.

Nice rooms, nice pool area for the fam and bar and dining.

This review is long overdue.  My stay at this doubletree deserves more than 5 stars.  I started working with the doubletree staff, specifically, Barbara Lyons and Emmeline, beginning in March - 5 months before my wedding in Rancho Santa Fe.  Barbara  and Emmeline were both great with communicating with me and answering all my questions.  

I reserved a block of about 30 rooms the weekend of 8/10/13.  The front desk staff was great in handling my guests in my block and making sure each guest who checked in under the Rojo-Jordan Wedding received a welcome gift bag that I had prepared for out-of-town guests.

Not bad, but not amazing either...

My husband was participating in a triatholan at Solana Beach and the Doubletree Hotel Del Mar was the host hotel. Due to the triatholan we recieved special pricing at the Doubletree, had we paid full price I would have been disappointed with what we had recieved. We checked in late Friday night (around 11 pm) with ease, and receieved complimentary, super yummy cookies.

The hotel was completely sold out the weekend we stayed, the majority of the guests seemed to be there for a soccer tournament in the area. Due to the hotel being sold out we experiencesd some issues, albeit fairly minor:

-Only one person was working the front desk during check out. When a hotel is at peak capacity, the front desk should be staffed accordingly.

-Only 2 luggage carts for entire hotel... Coupled with lots of guests with sports equipment, this made getting our bags to our car much more of a hassle then it should have been.

-Also, only 2 elevators for the entire hotel... and housekeeping uses them too. At times, we decided to just wait for the next elevator rather then squeeze in like sardines.

-The interior walls are rather thin. We didn't hear much when we were in our room (all the way at the end of the hall) but when walking down the hall to our room Saturday evening, we were able to hear another room's guests during a rather *ahem* intimate moment.

-No free wi-fi? Pretty lame for a hotel of this calibar, charging these rates.

Now, don't get me wrong, there was a lot we liked about our stay as well. The hotel is very conviently located just off the 56 and the I-5. I worried about highway traffic noise but it didn't bother us. The highway being so close made it very easy for us to get everywhere we needed.

The room itself was very nice. I loved the large windows, we kept them open most of the day so we could enjoy the fresh air. The bed was very comfortable, not too hard or soft for our liking. The color scheme and wall decor were easy on the eyes.

We didn't go to the pool or fitness rooms, nor did we eat at the restaurant, so I can not comment on any of those. We also did not take advantage of the shuttle service.

I honestly can not say if I'd return. If I had to pay full price, I doubt it.
If I got a Priceline deal like some of the other reviewers stated they did, then sure....

I would stay again. Parking ample and free. Clean and convenient. Not a five star but for what I payed it's what I expected. Bed was comfortable, bathroom was clean. Breakfast was fine. Maid service was great. All staff were super friendly.

Stayed here for one night, first thing came in to check in got some warm cookies, they were so good!! I love love love their cookies! Major fan of those now.

The beds were comfy, pool is pretty big, they also have this cool lounge by the pool with a fire place and big flat screen.

The only thing I didn't like was that the walls are soo soo thin!!! Like seriously I can here things people are saying in the hallways, next door, ect ect. When I left I noticed the hotel charged my credit card unauthorized and that's weird because I had already prepaid my reservation using Travelocity, I called the hotel and asked what the charge was for they said they didn't have anything on their system for a charge, so it threw my off a little? Called my credit card company and they refund the amount but still that's kind sketch.

I might come back and stay here but just for the cookies!

Having stayed in many hotels in this area, there are options like Marriott Residence inn, marriott, and hilton garden inn to choose from very nearby.  The free parking is good, but the resort style pool here beats the others near it.

The best hotel in the Carmel Valley area!  I had an extended stay at this hotel for a six-month period.  This hotel is pet friendly --extremely pet friendly and is immaculate.  

The hotel front desk, housekeeping and management is extremely professional, courteous, and kind. After staying there for six months, they did become almost like family, something you would not expect at a large hotel chain.

Located in a convenient area in Carmel Valley near the Del Mar Heights Shopping Plaza, their shuttle service is an excellent plus.  Only five minutes to the beach, downtown Del Mar, and restaurants.  You're also very close to Scripps, UCSD, Torrey Pines and much more.  I highly recommend this hotel!

I love DoubleTree hotels...because of their famous chocolate chip oatmeal cookies, always served warm. :D

Um, I think I ate like 6 cookies in my 2 days, 1 night of staying there... ::sheepish grin:: did you know they're like 300 calories each??? :(

Convenient location just off the freeway (although the parking lot is slightly confusing) close to the 805 and 5 merge, so you can easily hop on either freeway.

The rooms are nice, the service is friendly, the restaurant and pool area look beautiful. Free coffee and tea in the morning. It's also nice to have free wifi in the rooms - many hotels charge extra to use even the ethernet internet.

I got a nice room overlooking the pool, my only complaint is that the walls are incredibly thin. The family next door wasn't even being loud, just conversating at a normal level and it woke me up because it sounded like they were right there in the room! And you could hear every door slam all night. Not a good place if you want to sleep in.

Amazing!  This place has everything you could want in a hotel: heated pool, congenial staff and, best of all, complimentary cookies.  Specifically, Mario at the front desk was incredible; he went out of his way to make our stay comfortable and memorable.  And, the hotel's accessible business center bailed me out for last minute printing needs.  Overall, the experience could not have been better.

I spent a couple of weeks here when the hotel closer to my customer was sold out because of the golf tournament. While the Hilton Torrey Pines is okay, the Doubletree Del Mar is only a couple of miles away and is half the price for the room and the parking is free. That's a deal!

Also... free Internet!

I had a nice quiet room with a view of the parking lot. No worries because the windows were solid enough (they only opened three inches) that I didn't hear car alarms or trucks idling. Comfortable bed, clean bathroom and the room was serviced perfectly every day.

I would absolutely stay here again.

Here's my nitpick. The elevator was S-L-O-W.

I'm a definite road warrior, traveling a ton for work, and my experience this week was top notch. I had a rough day on Tuesday. On the 2nd of 3 legs of my journey, my wallet was stolen, with all my credit cards, ID and cash. (Side plug for AMEX who got me on the right track at the airport) By the time I made it to the hotel, I was cooked. I'd been on the phone for hours getting my life back on track and I was tired, frustrated and hungry- not a good combination at the end of what had been a long day.

Let me just say that their front desk supervisor Meghan is an absolute rock star. AMEX had called ahead with updated credit card information so she was already prepared for my arrival. She then handed me two drink coupons and breakfast ticket as well as my cookie :). Finally, she arranged all of my transportation for the next day so I could get to my meetings and back to the airport. Most importantly, she genuinely cared about making the rest of my day as comfortable and relaxing as possible. This is something that I think a lot of hotels miss. My issues that day had nothing to do with the Doubletree and really weren't her problem, but Meghan made it her opportunity to provide a great service with a friendly and helpful attitude- something you just don't see much these days. I'll stay here again and again.

I think this is my new spot to stay whenever I am in SD. I had to come back here after my first visit. Before arriving here, I was sort of iffy about Doubletree...I mean the last time I went to a Doubletree hotel it was old fashioned looking. I am super picky about hotels. For me it needs to have a sophisticated, modern look. I won't even stay at an INN....Yes I am a brat.

But anyway, the brand Doubltree has definitely REVAMPED and RESTYLED its look and I LOVE it! The rooms here were super modern!! Super comfy too. They use Crabtree & Evelyn Products too.

What I love is how friendly the lobby is! The girl there totally gave me as many cookies as I wanted! She said I was welcome to come back for more. The cookies they offer to welcome you REALLY gets me. Its super warm and so freshhhhhh! I think that alone made me want to come back to this hotel. I like it a lot!!!!

Room was really nice and the staff was great. I would have definitely given a higher rating although I was grossed out to find a bed bug on the bed sheets.  Everything in the hotel looked clean and it was only 1 bed bug but it was enough to keep me up at night.  Disappointed to say I will not be staying at this doubletree again :(

I'm usually satisfied with the Doubletree.  I've stayed here before.  However, this time I can't give a glowing review.  Apparently, the Hotel allows dogs as guest.  This is fine.  But it is not fine when the room next door has a dog that barks and yaps continuously for two hours.  
I have a four year old.  As such. he goes to bed at 7:30PM.  I called the front desk 'politely' complaining about the dog next door in room 341.  The front office clerk, named Michael, promised he would 'do some research."  60 minutes later and the dog was still yapping.  I went downstairs and Michael promised he would call me with a solution.  Well,  the dog stopped yapping at 9:30, but Michael never called with a solution.  My four year old did not get to sleep until past 9:30.  I'm completely disappointed in how the staff handled an annoying situation. Hmmmm...maybe move me to a quieter room?!

This review is only for Double Palm Lounge & Cafe.

We just had one of the worst dinner experiences here tonight.

First off, it took the servers 10 minutes to even notice us. The people sitting next to us were also very irritated with their slow service. We ordered the calamari appetizer which took forever to arrive. When it was finally served, what we saw on the plate was tiny pieces of calamari buried in fried wonton strips. We literally had to dig in to find a piece of squid. The wonton strips were definitely an attempt to make the dish seem bigger.

We ordered a burger and seafood linguini for an entree. My husband said his burger was the worst burger he had ever had. He asked for some BBQ sauce on the side and it never came. We asked for tabasco and it finally came when we almost finished our meal. My seafood linguini LOOKED good, tasted meh with gritty clams and super dry fish and mussels.

Overall, a ridiculously slow service despite the fact that they had at least 5 servers with only 4 tables filled, low quality food and it was one of the most miserable dinner experiences. Definitely not going back there again.

Decent hotel. I expected a lot more from a Double tree by Hilton. It's a bit of an older hotel. The pool could be nicer. The bathroom inside our room could be better. Friendly staff. We got a good deal on One of those discount websites so it made up for it I guess. 20 minutes from San Diego. Next time were staying closer to SD and next time I'm going to read the reviews a little bit better. Free cookies. Free morning coffee.

I chose this hotel for a staycation for the weekend. They are pet friendly which was a big part of my decision. All the staff that I came across was very friendly. They have a shuttle that will take you and pick you up within a certain distance, the food was great and the rooms were nice and clean. I will be back for another staycation!

This hotel was so nice. Beautiful grounds, lovely pool and jacuzzi to lounge around.great people working there. Super friendly and helpful.They will let you have pets. They loved our little chihuahuas. The room was clean with a comfy bed.the food at restuarant was really good too.they have a huge buffet in the morning. Got so full we didn't need lunch.:) the location of hotel was perfect.everything we wanted to do was just a short freeway drive away. Very close to the beaches. Will for sure stay there again!

This review is based on the customer service I received from "Mario" in Guest Services on April 8th. I booked through Priceline last week for a very busy weekend in Del Mar for a soccer tournament at the Polo Fields. Feeling a little bit nervous, I called to confirm at the hotel and alas- they have no record of my room reservation!!!! So freak out mode came really quickly - like a crazy woman- poor Mario! Unfortunately, my beef had to be dealt with Priceline! After 2 customer service calls later to Priceline- I spoke with Mario AGAIN the next day, who did what I found absolutely commendable. He Heard me, He Empathized,   He Apologized and He Took Action!!! (ok throwing my marketing lingo out there!) Mario, thank you for taking the "HEAT" and making my first outreach to your hotel a 5 star experience. I can't wait to update my review post-stay. Thank you to Doubletree for training your customer service reps so professionally. Thank you Mario.

I've stayed at my fair share of hotels. I've stayed in the good, the bad, and the ugly.
I am happy to report that I truly enjoyed this hotel, especially for a chain. I was greeted with warm, genuine smiles from the front desk. To top it off, I even got a whopping TIN of their famous cookies. They're pet friendly and even host a 'yappy hour' for the pups. I will be returning!

Came back down to SD and stayed at the Double Tree.  Once again, they upgraded us to a pool view and the room was clean and comfortable.   No long wait on elevators and housekeeping was great when we needed additional clean towels and toilet paper rolls.  The front desk are an amazing crew as they were friendly and helpful when we first checked in and when I came by to go their warm fresh cookies!!!
I'm adding an additional star as the hotel continued to surprise me with their services. Thank you Double Tree for another great stay in SD!  Will come back again...

This is my second review for this hotel... you can find my first one below for further details.... we had gotten a free nights stay due to the horrific experience we had the first time, we r celebrating our 3 year anniversary and we're very excited and hopefull that we would have better luck this time around... when we had placed the reservation on the phone it was a normal Reservation conversation.... we mentioned we would be bringing our dog as well as a comped stay. No future details were given to me other than the normal "your all set see you Saturday"... we come to check in at 6pm after a hour and half drive and long day in SD we were ready to get cozy n relax... until the supervisor Diana informed us that we still have to front the 160 for the rate on top another 50 dollar incidentals charge... we did not have that kind of money bc we planned for a free night.. she stated the money will be taken and returned upon check out... we were not ok with this and did not want to turn back around an go home. She said she would wave the room fee but wanted the 50 dollars still,we only had cash and after a little arguing she accepted the cash rather than a card on file.

THEN just when we thought we got it all figured out she asked for another non refundable 50 dollars for the dog... which we were also not informed about when we had made the reservation so after us arguing back and forth and me throwing a tantrum and threatening to leave and write a horrible review the supervisor Diana decided she would comp that as well.... 30 45 mins later we finally got to our room.

The management absolutely suck here and its like pulling teeth to get anything done here.

Definitely will never stay here after this.

Well - the check in went well...the room was clean...however, my heater was making a horrible  noise that I called the front desk about..they came up while I was away an attempted to fix I believe - because I found about 1/4 of debris in my sink..I assume it was from the heater filter that the cleaned...needless to say, I photographed and showed the manager and I got an oops..to make up for it they gave me some cookies and chocolate?

The food and drinks at the lounge are incredibly overpriced and not that good at all..$13  for a cheese burger and fries..nuts..if I was to use my per diem here for three meals, I would be way over budget..$15 for a sad excuse of a buffet..

ooooooo I just tried to have a burger and drink at the bar on my last night here..apparently I did not fit the mold...the bartender, whatever her name (her hair was over her name tag) was provided the worst service I have ever received in a hotel...and she was tipped appropriately..

So off I skipped to my room..and lo and behold...my lil coffee maker has no filter holder on it..so I called he front desk..30 min ago..lets see if I ever get a replacement..

I can say I would not stay here again if I was making the reservations - to much for way to little..

Just checked out of my king room here at Doubletree Del mar. Let's start with check in, no hassle although the lady who checked us in wasn't the warmest. She forgot to give us our cookies which wasn't a big deal because u can always go down and pick them up. The room was small as expected but very comfy ! Outdated thermostat in the room but also not a big deal. The big deal for me came for me when I checked out and saw the 7$charge every time u receive room service. Its like a delivery charge for someone going downstairs and bringing u a glass of water and then your expected to tip. No bueno for me. I didn't order a pizza from pizza hut. I ordered cookies from down stairs. It would be better if they put these charges on the menu so people will know ! That issue was enough to keep me away from this hotel in the future.

Small hotel, small room. Thin walls. I could hear my neighbors talking. Good freshly baked cookies upon check-in. Torrey Pines beach/state park is 3 miles away.
Stayed here for 3 days. Our sheets weren't changed when we came back late in the afternoon on our 2nd day. We had to call for someone to come up & do it. Overall, it's a decent place to sleep if you have business somewhere in that area.

I work near by and always prefer DoubleTree Happy Hour over any other place nearby. Great food prices and drinks! The female bartender (can't remember her name) is friendly and has great customer service. The food runners/wait staff tend to be slow. Always order from the bar you get better service.

I recommend flatbread or carnita nachos (substitute the chips for fries) for HH.

This would have been a 4-star review, if everything would have gone as usual. The room was nice, the hotel actually also better than similar priced places.
I must say the bar area on a Tuesday evening was deader, than dead, but that is not unusual in a business traveler-oriented hotel.
The location is good for travelers, close to many companies and the I-5, but there is absolutely nothing in the direct vicinity of the hotel. I would only stay here again for comfort and convenience, but for pleasure. Ever.

What decided me to give only 2 stars is the following incident. I checked out and forgot my phone charger. After realizing this in the evening, i called and they told me to call back in the morning. I called back and they said they would tell housekeeping to call me back. No call. I went by the hotel the next day and they said that housekeeping never found a charger, but they would contact housekeeping and have them call me to be sure. No-one called. I called again 5 minutes ago and they told me no charger was found.
They front desk people were friendly and i don't blame them. I don't even blame the housekeepers, since they know they can take these things without being caught. No-one can prove they stole it, unless you have camera's in the room.

It is for me a reason not to stay there again. You guys could have been a 5 star, just for returning this charger, but for me, you are not.

We have stayed here before and it was mediocre.  Recently, we reserved a room and then canceled but they charged our card and refused to credit it.  I've never had a hotel charge me for a room I did not stay in and then refuse to back down.  Not even a partial credit, compromise...nothing.  I'll never stay there again.

We purchased a Groupon to stay at this hotel for one night. Typical of the Doubletree, they give you cookies upon arrival (yum!). The room was clean, comfortable, and well-decorated. We spent most of our afternoon at the pool, which was nicely kept and included a bar/bartender. Parking was free and plentiful.

I didn't do my research in terms of the location, and this hotel is about a 20 minute drive from the Gaslamp district. It's in an office park, with nothing nearby in terms of things to do.

We are staying here now. Overall we are very pleased. It is beautiful, and the people are friendly. The rooms are clean and spacious

You can't beat the gorgeous pool and hot tub. We ate dinner by the fire pits the past two nights. A lovely atmosphere.

And you get those warm chocolate chip cookies any time you want them

A few attention to details..,coffee is supposed to be available at 5:30 every morning. Yesterday it wasn't up till 5:45, and today it was almost 6:00 and we had to request it.  Even so, today it's a meager offering, and people have left because they ran out (see picture).

Overall we love it here and would recommend it!  But I need my coffee!

Made a reservation through Hotels.com .  I'm actually a Hilton Rewards program member, but points through a 3rd party won't work.  I only did it through Hotels.com because it saved me about $100 had I booked directly on the Doubletree website.

Parking can be difficult at night when everyone has settled in.  In the morning, 90% of the cars disappear.  Parking spots are super tight as well.

Check-in was a breeze.  And the warm cookies are delicious!  I always look forward to that.

The room was nice and comfortable.  I could see it getting noisy with Highway 56 right there, but it's all good.  Bed was comfortable.  Bathroom was clean.  The desk and drawers were a bit dated, but I never really use those things.

Yes, this hotel is mostly for the business people in the area.  But it's not that far from Downtown SD.  Maybe 20 minutes away.  La Jolla is 15.  Torrey Pines Beach is maybe 10 minutes away.

Would I stay here?  Of course.  It's well-kept and comfortable for business trips or even small trips to San Diego.

Pretty good lodging for a 3 star Priceline Express hotel.  Usually I blindly bid on my hotel rooms, and have always done well by sticking with a 3 star rating or above.  But this time, I needed something special, a dog friendly hotel.  Bidding cannot guarantee that option.  So by using the Express Hotel listings, I could go for the sure thing, paid a tad more but not retail, and it already displayed the hotel name.

First of all, it was conveniently located near the freeway and in a very nice area.  The check in was a breeze.  Pre-paid, there was nothing for me to do but get my keys.  Not even show a credit card number for incidentals, sign any papers, a car license to write down, or a first born to offer as collateral.  Oh.  One hitch....I could not dash off before getting my warm chocolate chip cookies for Mr. B and I.   =P

The room was lovely.  There were only a few things that could have been better, but really, they were cosmetic.  A scar on the floor in the entry where something roundish had been removed and not refinished, and some scraped off paint on the sliding door that provided privacy to the bathroom.

The king-sized bed was quite comfortable, the interior pleasing, everything clean, great fluffy towels, a great big bathroom.  Even the in-room coffee station was special to me, they offered Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf packets should I want to make my own coffee. There was a decent sized workout room just down the hallway, large grassy areas and welcoming lounge areas in the courtyard surrounding a beautiful gated pool, and a lovely restaurant on premises.  Although there was no refrigerator/microwave in the room, I heard the desk clerk offer to bring up a refrigerator for another guest.

Thank you, Doubletree, for the nice stay, for making my dog welcome, and especially for that yummy, nutty chocolate chip cookie that I shouldn't have eaten.

I'm a Hilton HHonors Gold Member, and I'm used to a certain level of service from Hilton. Otherwise, I'd cheap out and stay at Motel 6. So far, my expectations have always been exceeded at Hilton. Then I stayed at this Doubletree in Del Mar....

First, they never answer the "Care Line," which is the number they tell you to call if you ever need anything. I didn't call every 5 minutes asking for toiletries or anything. I just called to request that my room be made up, which the staff neglected to do. Literally 5 minutes later they answered, but acted rude, like I shouldn't have called. It should be called the "We don't care line."

The biggest problem I had was when the cleaning staff took a bag of my personal items, which they claimed looked like trash. The bags had no trash in them, and were not near any trash cans. Luckily they found it, but the staff tried to blame me for their mistake, instead of just apologizing and assuring me it wouldn't happen again. The manager was also no better, and felt it was more prudent to tell me excuses as to why their staff took my belongings rather than own up to the mistake and just apologize. Horrendous service, I'll be staying at Marriott from now on.

Recently stayed at this property and was extremely surprised to find dirty bed linens and a pull out sofa mattress with saturated stains masked by a mattress pad. Upon notifying the front desk, there was no immediate concern and lack of attention to what I consider a disgusting problem. Del Mar is great and I hate to see such an aging Hilton-owned hotel bring down the neighborhood. My opinion of the Hilton brand has been skewed forever and I will no longer be a patron. If you choose to stay here, check your linens and mattresses closely, especially if you're assigned room 301. Who knows what you may be sleeping in!

Not very happy with my staycation. First the stench of smoke hit my face in what I'd suppose to be a nonsmoking room. Second this is suppose to be a pool view room...apparently they haven't looked out the window lately...Palm trees covering out window...kind of disappointed especially because I don't get away much and we are celebrating mu birthday/Valentine's day.

I am very surprised by all these lower star reviews because luckily we received the complete opposite when it came to service.  We arrived early on a Saturday morning and after having breakfast in La Jolla we thought we'd check to see if we could get a room early or at least leave our luggage.  We were quickly checked in to a nice clean spacious room on the Hilton Honors floor.  I stayed for 3 days while my boyfriend stayed the whole week but we never had a problem with any service.  Every person I came into contact with quickly greeted me and offered assistance when they could.  The servers at the bar/pool area were beyond friendly and patiently served me and my rowdy friends with plenty of smiles and conversation.  They even went as far as to find us a bar we could view the MMA fight at since nobody close by seemed to be showing it!  And it was a great bar too.  
I ordered room service twice and both meals were delicious.  Housekeeping was thourough and fast when we needed it.  I used the Care Line when we ran out of something and they were fast to replace it.  My only two complaints would be that they don't have vending machines anywhere.  I know I could go down to the lobby to get snacks etc but it would be nice to just go down the hall.  Lastly the pillows were terrible.  This is something I'm sure could've been fixed with a quick phone call but they were too soft.  Anyway we love staying at Doubletree's and this one was just as great as the rest.

I'M A BIG FAN of this particular establishment. Service is great, they do all they can to accommodate you. The rooms typically do not have a mini fridge, but you can request for one. I went out to pick up some takeout and when I came back, the mini fridge was already set up. They also give you a warm cookie when you check-in. Never realized cookies was the key to my heart... They're bomb. Chocolate chip walnut cookies. Yum. They even gave me extra cookies when I checked out. LOVE IT! :) Totally made my morning.

Good stay, cheaper than the Marriott across the street.

I am a hilton member and I always stay in doubletree hotels. Stayed here for one night with my friends 5th floor hhonors floor. We went kayaking and the hotel is close by La Jolla and the Torrey Pines Reserve which is really good. (Close by starbucks and CVS too)

After our hiking in Torrey pines we finished at 11 am and called the front desk (I think it was meghan)  if we can check in early. Turns out our rooms were already ready and we can check in any time. So we checked in at 12:30 and gave us extra free cookies. (This is why I keep coming back) LOL.

4 stars because they don't have complimentary breakfast. They also have a salted pool and jacuzzi good size. And very clean. Gym (But we never had the chance to use it lol)

Checking out it was fast and easy. Shout out to diana who gave us those mouthwatering cookies again before heading back home in LA.

Will definitely be back! Had a great stay. :)

Great Hotel and services. Rooms were spacious. Parking was ok - very narrow and high risk of door dings. Bar and breakfast area is really nice. Pool was awesome.
We found a bug crawling on one of the beds in our room. I don't think it was a bed bug, but it's still a bug. I think it was a carpet bug. I captured it in one of the room coffee cups and showed it to the front desk people. They confirmed it wasn't a bed bug and they asked what room we were in. I think they asked just to make sure there isn't any more bugs rather than giving us a comp or discount on a future stay.
Overall, the stay and place was great.
Til next time doubletree, I still love your warm cookies!!
