Just back from staying at the Hampton. The location was great, close to everything with good access to freeways. The hotel is brand new, beautiful and clean. We wanted a higher floor but was not available, ended up on the 2nd floor. But, we were on the opposite side away from the freeway. The room was really quiet, good sized and very comfortable. Small fridge in the room, good tv and cable. The a/c worked well, there is a thermostat on the wall to control it and the blowing  unit is on the other side of the room away from the bed. Great housekeeping service and good front desk staff. The breakfast was ok, pretty much like other hotels of this type. Fruit, yogurt, cereals (although mostly sugary types), oatmeal, toast, sweet rolls. The eggs are not very good, powdered???, juices and coffee). Only issue was the outrageous parking fee of $14 a day. I expect to pay for parking at a hotel downtown where parking is limited, but this was not the case for this hotel. Typical parking around the hotel with an additional covered garage at the very end. Parking was NEVER full so there is no reason to charge other than to gouge guests (this seems to be the new thing, tack on stupid charges). The spots are VERY small which barely fit our small rental car. Good luck with a large vehicle. I would stay again based on what the parking charge is in the future. Now that we are more familiar with the area, it will be easier to find a hotel that has free parking.

Location, Location, Location, and this Hampton does not have it. I go to a hotel for quiet sleep. The Hampton has the same food, beds, sheets, linen, and atmosphere statewide. The other criteria that is important is polite staff and a good, "quiet" nights rest. I'm willing to drive a little further to get a quiet hotel, and there are plenty of them nearby. The pros: Pool was clean and the Ph was adjusted correctly. Most staff were polite, but you definitely received that 'just trained",  and "were a new hotel employee feel." The cons: It is the noisiest hotel I have ever stayed in. You can throw a rock to the freeway. The decibel (noise) level does not subside until very late, and then it wakes you up very early with the morning commute. I stayed there 4 days and checked out a day early.  I couldn't take it anymore. CNN on all TV's in the lobby combined with "blaring" music - bad music, worse station., and no other selections. Outlet in bathroom did not work for charging. TV did not work and took 2 days to repair - no comp. Staff cleaning rooms were too noisy interacting speaking Spanish relentlessly. In summary, I will not go back to this Hampton. Very disappointed but what can you expect when you park a hotel next to a freeway?

Me and my business associate have been going there every week for over a month. The staff are very friendly and the service is great. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. Another amenity that I really enjoy is the jacuzzi and then sitting around the fire pit. Breakfast is also very good and the staff preparing it are very cordial and friendly. Overall I like the Hampton Inn and will continue to go there. This is a hotel that really cares about its service and caters to your needs.

Also we were the first people to check in that day and that happened to be the grand opening of this hotel, we were the first customers to sleep, shower and stay in the rooms we stayed in. Great customer service and a great stay in San Diego!

The service was absoultely amazing. Everyone was so extremely nice and very accommodating. The room was good, id hoped for a bathtub but was disappointed with a shower. I called down to guest services and they immediatley gave me a new room with a bath tub. I was very pleased and the breakfast was delightful. The hotel is very nice. I enjoyed and will be coming back soon.

My wife and I spent 2 nights and both were very happy the way we were treated.  Unfortunately they were sold on the king's size, but even the queen size beds were OK.  The room was super cleaned, roomy and quiet.

I was little disappointed with the $14 dollar charge for valet when, in reality, there NO valet.  Breakfast was a good value and people serving it were super nice.

WiFi was FREE and at a good speed.

    I highly recommended.

We have had a very nice stay here at the Hampton Inn. The location is very central to the freeways to get to downtown, the beach or wherever you want to be.
The reason for my giving 4 stars instead of 5 is for 2 reasons...the mattresses are extremely hard, which I'm sure works for those with bad backs needing the extra support, but for me it created stiffness. The other reason is that the coffee dispensers used for hot water for us tea drinkers dispenses water that tastes like coffee. Green tea with a coffee flavor is not a good flavor combination. The dispensers when used as often as they are in a hotel situation need to have designated hit water dispensers.

Pros: Very clean and nice rooms because the hotel is very new.  Simple breakfast is nice and coffee is available at the lobby anytime.
The hotel is very near the malls and restaurants too.

Cons: The NOISE outside the room anytime of the day is unbearable! You could hear weird noises during the night -  which seem to be the sound of the ice machine or of people walking outside. During the day, the noise of the cleaning staff - seriously, loud noises.

Great location, close to Mission Valley restaurants and shopping and only 10-15 minutes from downtown.  Clean lobby and breakfast area. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly, especially the manager, Dan, who went out of his way to help us.

I will always be a huge Hampton Inn fan.  Hampton Inns generate the majority of my Hilton points.  I have had my eye on this property for a while as construction of this property proceeded.

Nicely appointed property, modern looking.  I really liked the huge shower.  Fridge in the room.  Morning meal set me up well until lunch.  While it won't win any culinary awards, the breakfast was nice and the morning staff provisioning breakfast were very pleasant.  All in all, I would come back here again if my fave Hampton Inn in Kearney Mesa is booked up.  The swimming pool is probably the nicest pool you will find at a Hampton.  The workout room is nicely appointed with 24 hour access.  Staff was gracious and while they show the love to Diamond Members at the front desk, be prepared to arm wrestle over the only two parking spaces allotted to Diamond Members.  This Hampton Inn is competitive price wise with other Hampton Inns in the area.

In conclusion, if you are a Hilton properties fan, you will like this hotel.

    We won't return.

We traveled this past week as a family of 4 (2 teens). Spent 2 nights. This hotel is more for families who are doing Sea World w/little kids. People above us were noisy, obviously hyper kids bouncing around which started around 6am. Walls & floors are very thin. You can hear people in the halls and upstairs halls running.

Ok, so it's "remodeled", carpet and wallpaper, big whoop. I did not find the room (2 queen beds room) to be spacious or roomy. I hated the bathroom mirror. The light was around the frame of the mirror and a very low wattage (is that a word?? lol). The door won't stay open either so we used a shoe to keep it propped in order to air it out after a shower... oh and there is no fan in the bathroom either. The bed was pretty nice but I would suggest bringing your own pillow if you don't like down/feather pillows. Like my grandpa says "you can put lipstick and a dress on a pig all you want but it's still a pig". That's how I feel about hotels that "renovate" like this.

Tv - nice size - Direct TV w/guide is always nice
Wifi - seemed to go in and out of range

Breakfast was continental, stale french toast, weird salsa in a fake egg omlet, the usual. Very very crowded, out of control kids all over the place. And oh the crying... ugh. I don't miss that!!

Parking $14/day?!? Spots are really tight (we drive a Ford Edge). I think it's a ripoff. Over a 3 day period we spent almost $80 in parking fees around the area. The hotel parking should be free!

(If you're looking for a nice place to take your spouse to have loud, hot hotel lovin'... DO NOT go here. Remember... thin walls!!!! ;) You're welcome.)

One of the smallest rooms I've ever stayed in. Very weird smell in the sheets. Paid 14 dollars a night for parking that I was unaware of when I reserved the rooms. The breakfast was not good at all. Had me using the restroom every two hours after I ate. (not fun when your trying to enjoy a day at LegoLand). I would not stay here ever again even if the rooms were free.

Just checked in today and I have to say that it is a great hotel to stay. The front desk girl was very welcoming and helpful. They also do early arrival check-ins which I love the most. The self parking is $16 per night for hotel guests. They also offer complimentary comb, tooth brush, toothpaste and free coffee &team at the lobby area, free computer, printing service and 24 hr fitting center. They also offer free breakfast from 7 to 10 in the morning on weekends. Love this place!!

    The good:
    Clean room
    Free breakfast

    The bad:
    $16 per night for parking
Parking spots are so tight you can't open the door of the minivan
    Free wifi that doesn't work
    Small rooms
Some rooms don't have a bathtub

    Probably won't be back.

Just for the record, I am adding a star to my review based purely on how the hotel GM handled my Yelp review. He actually took the trouble to find me and speak with me on the phone. He took full responsibility for my experience at his hotel. From speaking with him, I am actually willing to try this hotel again. If the GM is awesome, the staff can't be far behind lol. And furthermore, not once during our call did he even hint at me changing my review. Wow. What integrity! Very impressive.

I stay at a lot of Hamptons because they're predictable and reliable. But this one... This one caters to the senior tour bus set. Breakfast was so bad (diabetic yoghurt, fat free cream cheese, coffee mate creamers, and raisin bagels - PUKE) that even my mother said she couldn't eat it and we went out for breakfast instead.

They charge $13/night for parking which was not made clear during the reservation process and which really annoyed me. When I expressed my dismay, the clerk just looked at me blankly and said I was getting a good rate through AAA because that night's rack rate was really high (yeah, I worked at a hotel during my undergrad and I know how rack rates work - and parking for that matter -and it's nothing special or mysterious). Anyway, paying for the parking was doubly annoying because every spot was practically motor cycle sized, and given that the age group there all had giant Buicks, I did the unthinkable and took two spots. Sorry. I felt bad, but not as bad as I would have felt with a giant ding in my car.

The hallways were filthy and needed vacuuming. We told front desk but they did nothing.

All in all the worst Hampton I've ever been to. Meanwhile, my hubby is at a Hampton in Butte, MT where they're serving homemade biscuits and gravy and doing wine and cheese at night. But - then again, he's in Butte so I guess it's a wash lol.

This Hampton is really close to Old Town which is a plus.

Also, there was no express checkout folio left under my door at night. Very strange. I hope they don't think we are still checked in to this place.

This hotel was awesome; The staff was extremely accommodating. The continental breakfast was good, loved the waffle makers and the wide variety of whatever you're in the mood for ranging from oatmeal to eggs and sausage.

The Pool: Perfect size for children, only goes to 5.5" deep and was really warm. a little to chlorinated for my liking but whatever. jacuzzi was standard jacuzzi. the had a fire pit that was nice as well.

The Room: Standard 2 queen bed room, overlooked the pool. was decent. Obviously this hotel is practically on the freeway so you will obviously hear the traffic noises. For me that was easy to tune out.

The Reason for 4 stars instead of 5: The Bathroom in the hotel room is set up so awful. THERE WERE NO VENTS IN THE BATHROOM.. NO VENTS! It got SO hot and stuff in there.. you are probably thinking "ok, open the door" nope, the door automatically closes.. you have to prop it open with the chair. Also, i had my teenager mommy helper with us. So no showers with the door open or getting ready with the door open. Made for a really stuffy and annoying predicament.

other than that, we will absolutely return to this hotel when we head down to SD!
