It's the only hotel in this price range that offers two queen beds, as far as I know. Our room on the 4th floor was clean, quiet and recently renovated.  The staff is great.  The freeway is nearby, but you absolutely do not hear it from the room. The spa was closed during our stay, so I can't comment on that. The breakfast options are better than average, but it does depend on who's cooking that morning. Our food was good, but we overheard another guest remarking that his breakfast that day was better than the previous day, which he had complained about. No newspapers for guests, which I was expecting.

Love this place!  I am local, and me and my husband sneak down here for dinner all the time!  The Bistro 39 is awesome!  There food AND service is excellent!  We've had a mini vacation here and the rooms are clean and comfortable (love love love the beds!!!).

The bar is so much fun!  I gather my friends there at least once a month, if not more, for their happy hours!  The prices are fantastic, and we ADORE MC!  She takes such good care of us!  Love their sliders on their special!

And, I'm having my daughter's bat mitzvah here in May!  Will keep you posted on that, but so far, their staff has been fantastic in helping me get all the details taken care of!

OH, by the way, the Serenity Spa right next door is unbelievable!  Check out their happy hour specials!  It's  a gorgeous new Spa and all my friends love it too!  Deli is yummy also -- they make a great sandwich!

Keep up the good work!!!

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The hotel was very clean, had good parking, close to the freeway, and is a good option if you are visiting nearby cities. The lobby was very clean and looked new. Their fitness center looked very small, with only a few machines. They have complimentary tea and coffee in the lobby, and the staff was very nice. The rooms were very clean, the beds were comfortable, and the tv had a lot of great channels! This is a Hilton...nothing too special but it's always reliable and a great place to stay. Nothing bad to say about this place...I would definitely stay here again!

The hotel is nice, has very good service. The fitness center is marginal, better off going for a run. The reason to visit or stay is the in house restaurant is awesome. Great food, especially the Mahi Fish Tacos and slider plate. Don't let the street name fool you, it is not on the Ocean nor does it have an ocean view. However, it has easy access to all the tech businesses in the area.

I stay in HGI's whenever I travel. If you make it to the this area of California, don't miss this one. The staff is the nicest I've ever met and the hotel is spotless. The breakfast is convenient and very well done. I stay here every chance I get !

Excellent value for the price!

Pros: Hotel was new and very clean. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Great happy hour and breakfast prices.

Cons: Memory foam bed. I didn't really care for it. Not very comfortable in my opinon. May be fine for others though.

Overall, very impressed. Would definitely stay here again!

This review is strictly for the food at the bar and our bartenders Megan and Andy who made sure we were taken care of and never had to ask for anything.

Went there today to watch the World Cup and have a bit of lunch since I work very close to there. To say I was surprised how good the burger I got was would be like saying BP only kinda a fucked up...

When they asked me how I would like it cooked I must have looked like a deer in the head lights, since our bartender Megan just smiled and waited for me to pull it together. Burger came out just the way I wanted and was pretty damn good.

While I'm not sure I would go out of my way to eat there if you work in the area or are staying there you can't go wrong, the other guys I was there were also very happy with their meals.

I'm super picky when it comes to hotels and this place was wonderful!   Next time I stay in Del Mar, I will definitely be back to stay here again. The rooms were extra clean and the staff was very friendly.

It's really close to the Del Mar racetrack too- if you're into that. (I'm not, but I thought I would let you know) It's also really close to the freeway, so it's easy to get to other destinations; including, San Diego.

We stayed here for a conference and loved it.  The rooms were spacious, clean and modern.  Parking was complementary.    Coffee and water and wi-fi were also free.

Hotel was located about 10 miles from downtown San Diego in a nice quiet suburb in Torrey Pines.  We didn't mind the easy drive to downtown San Diego since the commute was fairly easy and given the suburban location, i felt like we got better bang for our buck with the hotel.

Front desk was very helpful when we asked about road closures from the San Diego Marathon.  Breakfast was $10.95 and included an all you can eat semi buffet.  There was a menu you could order from  (which included omelette, breakfast burritos, and sandwiches, as well as a serve yourself counter with bagels, waffles and fruit.

We would definitely stay here again!!

After a different hotel decision fell through, we decided to stay at this Hilton Garden Inn while on our recent vacation to San Diego. I did a lot of research and searching through hundreds of hotels in the area before deciding on this one. I am one of those people who is extremely wary when deciding on a place to stay, just because I have had some really bad experiences with hotels in the past. This hotel ended up being the best decision I could have made.

A few of the reasons we decided on this place is because of the amenities it provides:
Location- It was close enough to all of the places we wanted to go to in San Diego, but not so close to the city that traffic was an issue. It is in close proximity to most major freeways which was helpful.
Free parking- Most of the hotels I looked at before deciding on this one wanted up to $30 a day in parking. No thanks.
Free internet- Again, something most other hotels wanted to charge for.
In room refrigerator- My husband takes a medication that needs to be refrigerated so this was a necessity.
Price- For all of the included amenities that most other hotels in the area wanted to charge for, I believe we got an extremely good deal.

Other included features: heated outside pool, fitness center, in hotel restaurant, and a business center with free printing available. The hotel itself is really well kept, and the rooms are clean and spacious. The bed was comfortable and was one that you could adjust the firmness. My husband and I both really enjoyed our stay here at the Hilton Garden Inn and would stay here again in the future.

Excellent service, free wifi, free parking. Food was fresh and delicious. Room clean. Sleep number beds were decent...better than average. Hotel is in a quiet location, surrounded by nice apartments and condos. Stayed 2 nights with family of 4. First morning they charged only two of us $10.95 when all four of us ordered and ate. 2nd morning they had already taken down, but they graciously offered to bring anything we wanted out...even waffle iron...and make us anything we wanted. On that morning we were charged 2 adult meals plus 2 kids meals, even though the kids ordered off the regular menu. Small heated outdoor pool was clean and kids enjoyed.

All in all, nice...welcoming staff, clean rooms, easy quiet location. Would definitely use again to visit our family in San Diego!

Standard Hilton Garden here.  The proximity to Del Mar, La Jolla and such is nice.

If you want a hotel where you can walk to the beach or to shopping and restaurants, this is not the place.  It is back in a mixed neighborhood with some business park area and some residential.

If you don't mind having to drive, it's a pretty good spot.

I recently stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn during a work trip. It is conveniently located to 'the five' and has very nice rooms and amenities.  I was feeling under the weather this trip and was very pleasantly surprised by the delicious Albondigas soup of the day I had at Bistro 39 - homemade and delicious.  The staff was extremely friendly and the pantry is well stocked with any late night supplies you may need (for me it was antihistimene).

The core reason why I give them 5 stars is that, under the weather as I was, I forgot a critical piece of business I.T. in my room.  I called a couple hours later and the staff worked hard to get the tech in a FedEx package and sent to me immediately.  In particular Andrew at the front desk was extremely helpful, ensuring I had the FedEx tracking number and everything.  Service this attentive and courteous, long after I left the hotel is truly unique these days.  So HGI will be getting my repeat business as long as I travel to San Diego!

This review is about the restaurant in the hotel - The Terrace.

I loved the outdoor seating, you over look the pool and the beautiful green lush view of the golf course and the ocean. The prices for the food are VERY reasonable!!!! I had the halibut fish tacos on flour tortillas and it was AMAZING!!!! My husband got the steakhouse burger and that was very good as well!!!!

I like to dine out at quiet places with a good view to look at and this place left me very satisfied. I would highly recommend this place if you want something that has good prices, food and view.

Although there is a fee with parking, it gets validated when you dine at the restaurant.

The ONLY negative comment - there was a child's tooth on my table.

Nothing that is the hotels fault tho.

My family and I stayed here for a visit to UCSD, and it's conveniently located in a quiet neighborhood and a short drive to UCSD, to the mall, and restaurants.  The room is spacious and clean, and the furnishing is quite new.  There is plenty of parking.  Their front desk staff is friendly, especially an Asian gentlemen who is very kind and patience, and accommodate us with a room to our liking. We will definitely stay here again the next time we visit.

Don't be fooled - this is not a beach hotel nor in La Jolla.  BUT - it is a very nice and well-kept HGI in a convenient location (near I-5 entrance) and it offers a lot of nice amenities at a very attractive price.  Great for families or business travelers.  The restaurant is quite good and the attached spa is fantastic (and pricing is amazing).

So: Clean and new, convenient for San Diego north, great service, nice amenities, fantastic price (and no parking or wifi fees to jack up your bill).  Enjoy!

We were pleasantly surprised about this hotel! Everything was clean, the carpets were new, the food was excellent, and the hotel had a nice location in a small residential area instead of along a busy street. We got a good deal on our room as well. Checking in was painless and checking out was as easy as calling in and letting them know we were heading out.

I'm super picky when it comes to hotels but this hotel is amazing! It is in a great location, close to the beach and some great restaurants. The hotel is super clean, modern and offers a great breakfast. The staff is super friendly as well. We checked in and 15 minutes later they called our room to check in and see how we liked it and if there was anything that they could do to make out stay more enjoyable. Parking is free here too! Great perk at California hotels!

This hotel is clean and modern. The entrance is nice and simple, and they usually offer coffee with muffins or cookies in the lobby. Our room was simple and tidy.

The main problem we experienced was that a private swim instructor was giving swim lessons in the hotel's pool. The pool is tiny so the instructor was essentially using the whole pool. Also a line of about 3-4 children were waiting for their lesson time. I am not even sure how this is allowed. We waited for about an hour and the lessons never ended. We finally told the person at the front desk about it and he said that the instructor is there all day and would tell the manager about the issue. He offered the idea of us using the next-door "sister" hotel's pool. This seemed very strange to us but we went ahead and walked to their pool only to find that it was locked. I find this extremely unprofessional and still don't understand how a person that is not a paying guest could just use the hotel's pool for hours on end.

rooms are spacious and service is excellent. they have a business center and gym, and the lobby usually has cookies along with constantly free water.

place is clean and has the amenities you'd expect including free wifi, pool and spa.

Around the hotel are many homes so it is a quiet area. Great place if you are on business. Otherwise there aren't many things to do in the immediate area, but la jolla and solana beach is a quick drive if you want some distractions to soak in that San Diego sun.

I had a great stay here.

I stayed Saturday and Sunday nights.  I had a class in Escondido, and then had to work at the San Diego Rock n Roll Marathon, so driving back to OC was a waste of time and gas.

It was in a very quiet area...so peaceful.  I loved it.  After the marathon, I think I emptied out the ice machine.  Massaged 10-15 runners at the finish line and my hands were jacked.  Dunked them in ice and warm water for a bit then studied for my final exam.

I would definitely stay here again.  It's close to the freeway. It's very quiet.  The amenities are nice also. Hotel staff are very nice and friendly.

4.5 stars

Overall, I would have given this hotel 5 stars except that the walls here were a tad bit thin. We could  hear our neighbors talking/doors closing from our room. Not too big of an issue because the noise wasn't too loud but we definitely could hear people conversing, especially on the weekend nights.

We stayed here for nearly a week on the fourth floor. Hotel is not too big and located in a very quiet area (Torrey Pines). It is located in a a residential neighborhood and traffic was never an issue for us. We did have to drive a few miles to find the nearest store/restaurant and that was OK with us. This hotel was conveniently located a few miles from Torrey Pines golf course, Torrey Pines National Park/Beach, UCSD and also nearby major freeways.

There was ample free parking in the front and back, free wifi, free coffee or tea plus snacks in the front lobby, and they offer room service. The beds were super comfy and adjustable with a dial. Not too big on the Neutrogena soaps and lotion but they had a keureg machine which we loved. Housekeeping kept everything neat and restocked for us. Front desk was very nice and accommodating. When you walk in you will be amazed at how modern and fresh the front lobby looks. Would definitely recommend this place.

Came here after Sea world and the room smelled great like that brand new wood smell.   We didn't spend much time here so I can't say much. Breakfast was ok. I got the eggs Benedict and it wasn't that tasty. I've had better at a different Hilton. Anywho the staff was friendly and checkout was a breeze
