This review is only based on a 1 night stay, but I have no complaints whatsoever about this hotel. I decided last minute that I would need a place to stay after a concert that I was going to that same day and this was the only hotel with rooms available (1 star for that). When you are driving to this place you think for sure that the directions are wrong because it is in the weirdest location surrounded by nothing but industrial and warehouses buildings (not the greatest view from the window but it was surprisingly quiet). Definitely an odd loaction, but I was thankful that it wasn't within walking distance of the Mexican boarder. The ladies at the front desk were very friendly and accomodating and the whole place looks brand new. My room was roomy and the King size bed was confortable. The bathroom was spotless and looked like it had never been used. The a/c worked great, too which sealed the deal for me. They also have a really good complimentary breakfast which included much more than the usual coffee and a do-it-yourself walffle maker. if I am ever in the area for a concert again, I will definately be back to stay.

Stayed here in March for a concert at Cricket. While the hotel was well off the beaten path, it worked out well for us. Hard to get a bite to eat though. Wendy's at the Pilot gas station down the street was the closest option...That's something you should know if you decide to stay out this way. The hotel itself was very nice. Good rooms, comfortable beds and nice staff. The breakfast in the morning is up to par with any other HI Express, so it was good. This property is very close to the Border - that wasn't a factor for me, but it makes some folks uncomfortable. I didn't have any anxiety about it and I don't think that you should either. If you need to be down this way, well away from the heart of San Diego, this is a fine place to stay the night.

Great hotel no complaints. Middle of nowhere. Dont bother getting here before 3pm bcuz they will not check you in until exactly 3:00 on the dot (stupid) I got here at 2:55pm.

My husband made the reservation for this hotel and as I drove to this place I grew concerned as it is practically on the border with Mexico. In addition, it was hard to find as it is in the back of an industrial area. However, once I settled in, I relaxed and found it to be a nice hotel. The service was good, the room was clean and spacious and the beds were comfortable. That was perfect for one night's sleep after a concert.

It was very convenient to Cricket Wireless where we were going to the concert. The major downside was the lack of good food within walking distance. We ended up at Wendy's for dinner because that was the only option we could find.

I recommend this hotel if you are going to a concert or need to be in that specific area. Otherwise, it is off the beaten path!

This has got to be the best hotel I've stayed in. Very clean. Front staff were really helpful and nice. We got a room on the third floor. Huge bed, a lot of pillows, the bottom corner of the sheet had some black stains on it. Looked like grease or something so I just tossed it on the ground. Had a small tv. Coldddddd air conditioner!! It's in a quiet area in between these warehouses and literally a block or two away from the Mexico border, lol. The bathrooms are amazing and spacious. Very good lighting. Lots of towels. Clean tubs and everything. Went swimming at night and the pool was warm so it felt great. Would definitely stay here again on my next trip!

Decent hotel in the middle of an industrial park. Convenient 15 minute walk to the border.
My bad experience was billing. I got home to find that they overcharged my credit card by almost $200 over the amount of my bill.
I called the hotel only to get the "we're too busy to do anything about that now" talk.
Be cautious, check your card statement on this place.

Great little Holiday Inn.  The staff are the main attraction here.  The rooms are clean and comfy, breakfast is nice if you dont get up too early like me.  Ive stayed close to 50 nights here, and wouldnt go anywhere else when in town.

Like the other reviewers have stated... this hotel sits along the commercial international border... what does that mean: extremely busy as it appears just about every semi truck exiting and entering the USA or MEXICO does so just down the street...plus there is "rush hour" traffic as workers walk and drive across the border in the morning and afternoons...I have never see such traffic, ever...!!! So keep that in mind when staying here...plan extra time into your drive.

The hotel itself is very nice... not awesome, but very warm and inviting, and comfortable. The lobby isn't large, I don't  know about the habits of others but I don't hang out and watch TV there...so its okay.

Breakfast for the most part is just okay. Expect the typical HIX usuals...it isn't Dennys or IHOPS, or certainly not Grandma's, but it will satisfy most people. For me, it was okay, but after 5-days, I am looking for someplace to sit and order off a menu. There is ample seating, and a huge flat screen TV with CNN or GMA turned on each morning. Unlike other HIX locations, this hotel "locks" the room after breakfast each day...that is odd, and I wonder why?

They do have a physical exercise room...a gym of sorts. I used it every morning...by myself as never did I see anyone else come by. The equipment is nice, modern and is more than adequate for the needs of most travelers.

Daily maid service is fine, as my room was always fresh and tidy each day I returned in the evening, but fresh towels seemed to be a chairished commodity, not to be restocked until the last wet towel is left on the floor.

The hotel has ample on property parking for your car, in a nice lot with lights. You will need wheels when staying here...there is not much within walking distance...except the border. Restaurants you will need a car or taxi to get there.

All said, this was a very good stay. My room was quiet, warm and inviting. My bed was perfect, with plenty of pillows and an extra blanket. The heating/AC is flawless...in fact I had to turn mine off at night to keep from freezing...brrr, it got COLD. So, good place to stay, priced affordable, give them a try.

The service was very attentive and friendly. The afternoon tea is also worth going for just to gaze at the amazing architecture in what used to be the original foyer. Lots of movies were shot here, including Ghostbusters, in fact they were filming during our stay. Very interesting and not at all invasive. Only negative is the bathrooms are small but this is overcome if you can splash out on a suite and it is a little worn in places but well worth the visit.

So after my last couple stays I was reluctant to give Holiday Inn another try but figured it was worth one more chance. Earlier in the month, Chase had helped me recover the money I was owed.

The last stay was much better. Someone there is smart, as I was upgraded to a suite on arrival and was treated very well. The room was nice, the location is out of the way but quiet. Given that they handled their mistake in some positive ways, I'll be giving them yet another chance on future business.

Excellent little hotel near the US-Mexican border.  I've stayed here many times and I really like this place.  It's especially convenient if you so happen to work in Mexico since the border is just down the street.

The hotel itself is very clean and orderly.  The rooms are quite spacious, comfortable, and comes with amenities such as a work table, room safe, mini refrigerator, microwave oven, and coffee maker.  The bed is very comfortable with fluffy pillows ranging from soft to firm.  Bathrooms are filled with clean towels of various sizes, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion.  The bathtub has a built-in shower.

The complimentary breakfast offers a good selection and especially good coffee.  It's not that big but adequate with a clean and comfortable dining room.  Also have a small workout room onsite (very small with no free weights).

The employees here ranged from very nice and cordial to somewhat indifferent (check-in counter especially) but mostly friendly.  So far, I've been happy with the check-in service I've been receiving.  Parking lot is large but there are times where big trucks park in such a way that it can take up a whole row of spaces.

Holiday Inn is located at the very southern tip of San Diego in an industrial park.  There's not much surrounding the hotel but it is very quiet.  The nearest eateries are just down the street and easy to walk to.

In summary, I really like this place.  It's not overall fancy but suit my needs just right.
