The whole hotel experience was pretty good. I was very satisfied with their cheerful and prompt service. Every time my girlfriend and I would enter or leave from the lobby, someone would always greet us as we passed by. The room overall was clean. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was pretty clean, although had a slight moldy smell from a weak ventilation. We did not get any room service because there was a 24-hour Jack in the Box right beside the hotel. The hotel was conveniently in the middle of San Diego. Roughly 10 to 15 mins from Downtown San Diego, Balboa Park, San Diego Zoo, La Jolla, and most of their major shopping malls and beaches. Also if you are bored, Wal-Mart is 5 mins away. I would definitely stay in this hotel again when I visit San Diego and would recommend this hotel to anyone who is visiting. I booked this hotel using priceline and suggest you doing the same because I got the room for $45 dollars. Can't beat that!

Clean hotel, decent location. Currently under remodel so parking is tight. Walls are paper thin so you can hear people if they make any noise. Great value for the price.

I stayed at this hotel one night for business and I can't complain. It was conveniently located near the 15 freeway and about a mile from the place where my workshop was being held. The staff was friendly and accommodating upon both checkin and checkout. I was a little disappointed that the free internet access was not wireless, but I had no problem using the provided cable, and I did appreciate it being free regardless. In the past I've had bad luck with Holiday Inns and have found them to be fairly run down, but this one was OK. My room was clean and my bed was not terribly uncomfortable. Since I was only there one night, all I did was sleep, I didn't have a chance to use any of the amenities other than the internet, but they do have a fitness room, pool, laundry, etc., and a computer and printer downstairs for printing boarding passes. As others have mentioned, it's right next to a small shopping center with a variety of business and restaurants nearby. It's a little overpriced for what it is, but that's typical. Maybe because I was expecting the worst I was pleasantly surprised. Overall, I found it average, it did the job, and I wouldn't have a problem staying here again.

Well....well....well....where do I start!  First of all there was no refrigerator in the room.  Secondly, there was no flat screen television!  The room was very clean and the hotel lobby and staff were very professional.   I think the decor is very modern and colorful, but the security guard walking the hotel hallways gave me the impression that this hotel has had some issues in the past.  I did feel safer seeing security, but it put me a little on edge.  The worst experience I've had was getting cab service at the hotel.  The cab company "Orange Cab"  picked me up in front of the hotel and took me out of the way of the location I requested.  They apparently thought I didn't know San Diego and tried to royally rip me off!  I knew because when I returned to the hotel the price was almost half of what it cost to get to my destination.  The hotel should be more aware of these covert actions by this cab company and not do business with them.  Other than that, my stay was very pleasant.

To start with, the hotel wouldn't let us check in until 3pm even though I have a hard time believing that no rooms were available until that time. The front desk person was rude when we checked in and refused to stop the delivery of the USA Today that we did not want. The hotel smelled funky with the restaurant smelling particularly bad. The internet connection is wired in the room and slow - too slow to even watch a 30 second video clip. The sheets in the room had holes in them and so did the curtains. There was also a large stain on the carpet. However, the worst part of the stay was the hotel's utter disregard of people with disabilities. During our stay at the hotel, there was a football team also staying there. Some of the players parked their vehicles in the disabled parking spots even though they clearly were not disabled and had no disabled decals or tags. When I reported this to hotel management, they didn't care. Hotel security said they couldn't do anything because the hotel allowed it. If the Holiday Inn does not respect the needs of people with disabilities then they will not get my business. Finally, this hotel is misleadingly named. It is not in the main Mission Valley area where all the other hotels, restaurants and shops are located. Rather, it is several freeway exits north of this location.

OK, I say three stars, but I could say I felt the same as if I were staying at a 4 star hotel.  For me, I went to San Diego, not to a resort hotel, so all I needed was a convenient location and a clean shower and bed.  So that's what I got here at Holiday Inn.  It was only about 11 minutes to Balboa Park, there was easy on easy off the I15 freeway,  the bed was well made and the bathroom was big and clean with the expected amenities. The neighborhood has a MacDonalds and a Starbucks, cheap gas at the Arco station across the street, and several other types of restaurants nearby.  There was adequate parking, and there is covered parking under the hotel with direct elevator to the rooms so bypassing the lobby.   I also agree with a previous reviewer, the best deal is on priceline.

I would really rate this Hotel 4.5 stars. Very comfortable, clean, quiet, and the staff is super friendly and helpful. I requested an early check-in, and with a fully booked hotel, they still granted me an early check in. Even with the hotel being fully booked - I never heard anything! The room service was awesome - french toast was yummy! They have computers for you to access which makes printing boarding passes easy as pie - which is key when traveling Southwest. The view from my window was the Jack in the Box drive through and I can honestly say I never heard a peep from over there. I was a little nervous about having Jack right outside my window but it worked out well. The vending machines ran out of water (and I was dying for water at 11pm) but room service brought me up and pitcher of ice water even though they were just about to close. My only complaint was the lack of water in the vending machines but they made up for that. The location is wonderful. Right next door to several shops and restaurants, right off the freeway, and within walking distance to just anything you need. Very Happy with my stay and would stay here again - for sure!

I did not have any issues with my key and I kept it in my purse with my PDA the entire trip. Just because ones experience isn't the same as the others - doesn't make it unrealistic!

I gotta reduce the number of stars for this place. Had to take my son to Rady's Children's Hospital and reserved another stay here. We were so happy with our previous stay that we were glad to return. It was just my son and I traveling and when we made our reservation I specifically asked about the hotel shuttle in order to get my son back and forth to the hospital. The website says they have a complimentary shuttle that will take you within a 5 mile radius of the hotel. The hospital is 3 miles away.  The nice lady on the phone checked the shuttle schedule  for our needs and said it would be no problem. We booked the room and didn't plan on renting a car as we had some one to pick us up at the airport and take us back and we could save some money this way. When we arrived however, we were informed that the manager decided to give the shuttle driver the week off. So, we were out of luck.  The young lady who checked us in was gracious and said the hotel would pay for our cab fare. Apparently this was a employee by employee decision, because other ones said no and so on and so on. If you are going to advertise free shuttle service, then please have it available! In the end they paid for 1 round trip, and I had to pick up the rest, so it would have been cheaper to rent a car.....not to mention more convenient.

I have to say most of the employees were very friendly and helpful. There was only one sore thumb in the whole place who was just very curt.

The room were not quite as clean as before. My son has a disability, so primarily he crawls around on the floor. His pants had dirt all over the knees (and he only wore them in the hotel room). EWWWWW! It's my understanding that they have had to layoff quite a few employees...tough economic times. It's really no excuse for cleanliness issues or customer service. I might have to try the Shereton up the street next time. I really liked the convenience of this location since there were stores and restaurants nearby, but I was just really disappointed this time. I plan on addressing the manager at the hotel about our stay, I couldn't do it while we were there as we had many appointments and had to catch a flight out right after and time just didn't permit, not to mention that I was extremely frustrated with everything going on that day, so I don't think I would have been in the best frame of mind to share my concerns in an appropriate manner.

Their two stars are given because most of their employees (except for the one) were very friendly and very helpful to my son.

This hotel is definitely on a downturn.  It may have once been decent and worthy of the holiday inn name, but not anymore.  The hotel smelled bad, the front desk people with not very friendly, the internet was slow, the room was in poor condition...  If you can get a room here for under a $100 then maybe it's worth it, but otherwise, stay away.

stayed here during a weekend trip to SD.

super comfy and clean!

ask for room # 338.. it's a HUGE spacious corner room w/ 2 extremely comfortable queen beds.

bathroom was very clean and bright.

staff was very helpful and accommodating as well. ;)

i was not a fan of the weak mint shampoo though. oh well.

For a Holiday Inn, the place looks small on the out side but huge on the inside very trendy contemporary furniture (orange, and orange paint on walls makes the place homely and warm feeling. has a nice comfortable sports bar and restaurant open area hen you walk inn and a mini convenient store to the left. Everyone was really nice who worked there and knew what to do. They did whatever possible to make my stay better even brought me milk to my room. I had to leave early the next morning and called room service at 6pm and asked if they could deliver breakfast to my room right now and the cooks agreed to make it. Very comfortable rooms, sensored lights in the bathrooms to save energy a heat lamp, the tile floors in the batheroom looked good and were very clean nice wallpaper also, spacious shower and tub. Room smelled really clean and fresh.. Very clean atmosphere. Kept up. The only thing I noticed about these 3 star hotels I been going to lately was there is no electronic safes or refrigerators and microwaves and normally have to request them, except for the Hilton Garden they had all 3.. 2.5 star hotel always accomadated me with them. The beds here are comfortable and they use 4 different textures of pillows wrapped up in a ribbon and button for your  use. Cool Place. Would reccomend it. The parking spaces are small so watch how you park. alot of double parkers so if you got a nice car it may be worth parking a little further from the entrance.

i spent the last weekend in sdeezy and stayed at this holiday inn which was recommended to me.

parking spaces are small in the back, but just double park and be gangster.

garage parking is available as well which makes it super duper convenient to access the elevator.

checked in in a record 2 minutes with a great manager on duty. :)

while they are renovating, the bar/restaurant was in a seminar room, which I didn't have a chance to stop at but looked amusingly interesting.

my room was ample in size and the best part is you can request pillows based on how you sleep. (on your side, on your back, rigid, softer, etc.)

the mattress was surprisingly comfier than my bed at home.

great water pressure from the shower.

check out was easy.

price wise- you can't beat it.

my friend got room 338 as recommended by some chick named april m. ;) and it was bomb.com .

PLUS - theres this super futuristic Jack in the Box next to it that lets you order from a touch screen with no people.

Great deal for clean, comfortable, safe accommodations. Basic room rates are $139 (as of 5/07), but using priceline.com it only cost me $50/night.

Free high-speed internet access (not wireless). Free parking. On-site washer & dryer so you can do laundry. 24-hour fitness center. Outdoor pool. Right next to a Kinko's-Fed Ex. And Starbucks is across the intersection.

My stay at this hotel was doomed from the beginning. I got hosed by Priceline when I put an offer for a three or four star hotel and got this Holiday Inn. It most certainly is NOT a three star hotel and not worth the amount I paid each night of my stay. I think I would have given it higher than 2 stars if I had been expecting to stay at a 2 star hotel.
The good -
Free Internet access... I don't know what every hotel doesn't do this?
Staff is friendly
I forgot a razor and they brought me one for free
The okay -
They have a crappy encrypter for their magenetic keys. If it's even within one mile of your cell phone it de-magnitizes and you have to go back to the front desk. Sounds like a small problem but if you are like me and keep you key in your wallet, which is in your purse where your phone is - then you'll have to go to the front desk EVERY time you leave your room to get a new key. Annoying.
The ugly -
The floor was disgusting! They definitely need to wash the carpets in the rooms. I wore socks the first night and by the end of the night they were black at the bottom. No lie. If you're staying here, bring slippers or socks.
Overall, my stay wasn't as bad as I thought but I had really low expectations. Trip Advisor reviews on this hotel are more realistic than the previous Yelp reviews I'm afraid.

I went to visit some friends in San Diego about a week ago and chose to stay at this hotel. The place was about 5 minutes away from my friend's apartment which I LOVED but other than that, I thought it was a great place to stay. The front desk was very nice and friendly and gave me free cookies and water ( for joining the priority club rewards - it's free, and it extended our checkout time by 2 hours :] ). Also there was a lot of parking, as well as garage parking. The downstairs lobby looked pretty homey to me as well...I also liked our hotel. The view was great, we got a flat screen tv, the pillows on the bed are labeled firm or soft (you get 2 of each, we had a king sized bed). The only thing I didn't like, was the location of the hotel. If you are planning to stay here, and is sensitive to sound. Ask for a room that's away from the elevator and ice machine (there is an elevator and ice machine on every floor). The hotel room I stayed in was right next to the ice machine and we could hear it everytime someone came to get ice. We also heard the elevator as well, and I had trouble sleeping..but even still, I wouldn't dock points for that. I am still happy with the place. We were also close to the freeways so I heard cars as well, but it didn't bother me too much either.

This is not the Ritz so the 5 star review is based on this hotel category.  It's a nice updated hotel near the highway, very close to the stadium.  It's 15 minutes away from the zoo and downtown.  Parking lot is sufficient and there is also a garage parking.   The hotel was full during our stay, so the garage was full but there are parking spaces in the lot.  Not issue with parking when we arrived around mid night.  Next to the hotel is a small plaza with restaurants and Jack In the Box.  The Thai restaurant in the plaza was very good.   Across the road is another shopping plaza with more fast food, a super market, and gas stations.
We are priority club members and the front desk staffs knowledge that.  They gave us cookies and a cold bottle water upon check in.  Front desk staffs were very friendly and professional.  The best staffs we've seen amount hotels.  A+ for them.  We have a double room facing the front on the first floor.  We could hear the road noise even thought it wasn't too loud.  The beds are not queen size as advertised.  They're double size beds so it's tight for 2 adults.  The linens are nice, the towels are thick.  The pillows and beds are comfortable.  The sink is outside the bathroom and it works well if you have more than one person in the room.  The bathroom is big with a shower over tub and toilet.  It's a nice touch to have plenty of shelves around the shower/ tub to put the toiletries.
We had breakfast at the hotel and they were very good, and good value.  The omelets were delicious, the home fries were very tasty, and the toasts were very good, too.  The service was a bit slow, so don't expect a quick breakfast.  The staffs were very friendly and they worked hard to meet the customers' needs.

Prepaid for this hotel and showed up for a late check-in and they gave me the run around for 45 minutes saying they had no rooms left. Finally got a room but this experience was ridiculous and soured the entire stay.

Parking is limited and small spaces. Room was quiet.

Recently enjoyed a five-day stay here.  Convenient location, good eats nearby, amenities are ok, although the fitness room is pretty much just treadmills and bikes, rooms are very comfortable, but the selling point of this hotel is the staff.  The front desk crew are especially attentive to your needs, always exceeding expections.  From housekeepers to maintenance, if issues arise, they'll always great you with great service and a friendly smile.  I wished my stay could have allowed me to attend the Manager's Welcome Party.  I've heard many good things about the manager and the casual gathering.  Keep up the great work, Happy Holidays!

Went here to celebrate a family members birthday at a nearby lodge, so we did not pick the hotel. We were somewhat skeptical as my wife has fine tastes and has had lots of exposure to 5 star resorts.

Let me tell you how pleasantly surprised we all were. First off the front desk girls were so pleasant and helpful. We got a nice corner room for $95.00 it was huge, spacious, clean, with two super super comfortable queen beds. The shower was clean, the shower head was nice with a nice flow of warm water. They offered a pillow service that I wanted to try, but came in late and after a few cocktails at the birthday party I forgot, and any pillow would do. When I woke up in the morning, the regular bed and pillow were just fine and all four of us, wife and two young kids, all slept in, which is rare for us. We watched all the best cable channels in the morning and felt so comfortable we didn't want to go to our scheduled brunch.

We used the pool which was just fine, the jacuzzi tub water was a strange color and didn't look too inviting which is why they didn't get 5 stars. They also had a bar, that I wanted to try but never made it in to. There is a Jack in the Box, Sushi place, and a Roberto's taco shop in the nearby strip mall to satisfy all your vacation food cravings.

After this experience, we will consider staying at a Holiday Inn again on future travels.

COMFORTABLE AND CLEAN! I LOVED IT.

THE FRONT DESK GIRLS WERE AWESOME AND SWEET!

The only thing is that the parking lot is not that great (well, anywhere in mission valley the parking sucks)- so if you have an SUV or extremely large vehicle, prepare to park far or double park.

You never know- go there at the right time and you just might see a CHARGER walking around. Just kidding.

Stayed here this past weekend for a weekend SD trip.

Besides being stuck in crazy SD traffic, the weekend was great. Probably because I had a great sleep here!!!

We managed to get an excellent price on the rooms, which started our trip off well. The pillow selection (as Ryan T.) mentioned was very awesome. I opted out of a fancy pillow and found the other 4 superb lol.

The mattress was firm, while feeling like a big hug all night!!! That's the only way I can think of how to describe it.

The only downside was that the air was a little finicky, although I was messing with it 1/2 awake at 3 am.  At night the AC got crazy cold then when we woke up at 9am (we didn't change the setting) it was quite warm in the room. I was confused

I didn't take part in the booking, checking in, or checking out, so i can't really comment on that :D

I was recently at this site for a workshop and was extremely impressed with the customer service. The front desk associate, Jae, went above and beyond to assist me and accommodate my requests. As a new mom still breastfeeding, she arranged for me to use a room for pumping after providing my ID card. After noticing I'd left my ID in the diaper bag in a hurry, she again accommodated by letting me utilize my coworker's ID. Thank you so much,

During my two day getaway to sunny San Diego, I did so many unforgettable things and ate so much delicious food which all wouldn't have been possible without a place to lay my head comfortably for those 2 nights, hence, this review:

First off, understand that the hotel (by actual hotel classifications) is a 3 star hotel, so when saying here, don't come in expecting the Ritz, because that it is not. However, get ready for the best accommodations possible for a hotel of it's sort.

+Location-Just off the 15, super close to the 8 and qualcomm and all that. Perfect for the gf and I because we were all over SD, from gaslamp to the beach, all the way to pechanga and poway.
+Price-I got my room on priceline for about 65 a night, can't beat that for the area.
+Service-From the front desk people to the maids, never once was a greeted with anything but a friendly smile. Super helpful and provided us with any requests we had (which wasn't much, but still).
+/- Rooms and decor-Very homie feel with  oranges and reds, think southwestern like new Mexico style. Room was normal sized, not big not small. Kind of dated with non flat screen tv and older AC, but otherwise clean. No refrigerator at first, but requested one and it was sent right up, no charge. Bed was super comfy and we slept like babies.
+Parking-Super easy access to elevator from lot underneath, also extra spots outside along back, but never had a problem parking underneath.
*Bar/Pool-Never checked those out but they seemed nice, nothin special there though.

Overall excellent experience and would definitely stay there again next time in SD.

Apparently I'm a regular here, based on my Yelp check-ins.  I never planned to be a regular at the Holiday Inn but okay, I'll own that.  

I stay here because it's the right price - but isn't that why anybody stays at a Holiday Inn?  Often this is what I score with Priceline bids in this part of San Diego and to be honest, the first time I got it I was not thrilled.  Supposedly it's a three-star hotel, same as the Courtyard up on Spectrum Center, but it's really more like 2.75 star.  That's okay because I'm staying here super cheap and many of the things that are extras at a more expensive hotel - wi-fi, parking - are free here.

And now that I've stayed here three times I can say that the beds are comfy, the rooms are super clean,  staff are very nice, the pool and hot tub are decent, the laundry is freakin' convenient and even the restaurant/bar isn't bad.  Parking is a little weird but did I mention it's free?  You won't find that on Hotel Circle.

The location seems remote but it's not . In the blocks immediately around the hotel are several independent restaurants and every manner of fast food, including the local faves Jack In The Box and Rubio's.  Down the road one way is a Von's if you're feeling like living on groceries, the other way connects to Claremont Mesa, which boasts a ton of restaurants of every persuasion.  Jump on I-15 and you could be in Mission Valley or downtown in a few minutes.  

So yeah, I'm a regular at this Holiday Inn and I'll be back again soon.

I called a few hours before we checked in and requested a king bed because my husband is 6'5", I was told none were available. Oh well. Lina checked my in and I made the same request of her. She not only took the time to find us a king bed she gave us an upgrade to a suite. I usually never ask for an upgrade because it never works out and i'm left there looking like a fool.  
We've stayed at this Holiday Inn several time over the past year, sometimes for 5 days or more. We've never been given an upgrade until Lina did. What a difference one more room makes. She really make me feel like I mattered.  But I have to deduct one star because of what happened on check out day.  After I called for a late check out I decided to go out to the pool for a few minutes. When I put my card in the door to enter the building it turned red. I tried again, same thing. Now you need your key to enter the pool area and to enter the building. So I was stuck on the sidewalk between the pool and the hotel door. I called the lobby and explained my predicament. She said she would send some one out to let me in.  Okay, then I realized it wasn't even 12:00 yet and I had called for a late check out. I called her back and told her. She apologized and someone would be right there with a new key. Someone did come right out with a working key but it still pissed me off that my key was deactivated early.  Late check out or not, check out time is noon, not 11:56 a.m.

This was a solid 3 star Holiday Inn with clean rooms and fairly up to date fixtures and furniture. The linens were above average.

However, we had a room with a sink backing up with sewage and they gave us another room, along with a free meal coupon for our troubles. I think they handled it well, but backing up sinks are likely plumbing problems that can't be fixed easily?

The parking lot is also not ideal and very tight at the entrance. There was ample parking in the back.

Also the older gentleman checking us in was extremely slow and messed up a few times and had to start over. He was nice and all, but after an 8 hour drive, patience wears thin and you don't really want to stand there for another 15 minutes waiting for your room.

I think I just had some bad luck there, but the rooms were decent and location was fine. I still recommend this place if you can swing a hotwire or priceline deal. I paid $49/night for a room which was about $61 out the door. I had a 2 star experience in a 3 star hotel, so I will round up on this one.

I was here for a twp day meeting, and didn't stay at the hotel, so I can't comment on the accommodations.
However, the parking was ample and within walking distance to several restaurants. The front desk staff was pleasant and helpful.
Unfortunately, catering is not a strong point of this hotel. We had lunch catered by the onsite restaurant and it was somewhat unorganized. They sat us in the main area and we served ourselves drinks and bread... that no one told us about. Eventually someone figured out were it was and we helped ourselves. It was suppose to be a plated lunch, but the servers didn't seem to have experience doing this and it was quite unorganized and not as professional as it should have been.

We stayed 2 nights.
Pros -  The location is great, staff courteous, restaurant food great, room and bathroom spacious, parking ample.
Cons- we got out of bed with itch and rash which did not change after bringing to their attention, extra charges for microwave and fridge, water flow very slow. I asked for extra tea bags on my way out and when I came back there were zero tea bags in the room. Wish they'd pay more attention!

3.5 Clean, cheaper rates, lots of parking, working ice machines, nice rooms and friendly staff.

I just remembered why I scored this place a 3.5 and not a 4 like I was going to originally.

Friday night, SD Madres versus my team, the SF GIANTS. We're in San Diego after dinner. The bar has Sportscenter on. I ask for the bartender to see if the game's on. She said she doesn't know how to work the cable and if I knew what channel it was on? Are you kidding me? Can you find the channel for me while I sit down and have some drinks? NOPE.

We went back to the room and the game wasn't even on the regular channels. YOU SUCK!

All in all a nice place that's close to the Miramar Air Show and close to Qualcomm Stadium and not too far from downtown SD. I'll be back if I'm in the area and need a place to stay!

For $119/ night, it wasn't the best. But then again, i was in town visiting a friend who lived nearby, so it fulfilled the requirement.

The room was clean, and i got one with a couch, which was nice. Standard hotel pillows, bed, room amenities. Couldn't complain.

I can see the hotels suited more for business trips, than romantic getaway or leisure vacation.

It was close to restaurants, fast food drive thrus, gas stations and grocery stores, so it was a plus.

Clean hotel.  Easy parking.  Very friendly.  The rooms felt a little older, but not too bad.  I gather it caters more to conference events than family vacations.  Overall not bad and I'd be glad to stay here again.  There's probably better options in this part of town, but for the price, it is a good deal.  Easy access to most of SD.  Safe area.  Easy parking that was included in the low rate.

I will give it a 3stars. First problem, I booked my room, got there, it was a warm reception, they run my card and didn't tell me that they charged extra $50! plus when I booked our room I asked if this hotel is close to downtown and ocean, the person who was booking me said "Yes, just 5-10mns drive" I was so happy booking a last minute room, got there.......and it turned out to be very far from downtown and water!!! I was soooi disappointed!! plus the person booking our room was rude! Anyway, NEVER going back and certainly NOT recomment this hotel!

1. Gym closes at 9:00PM. I didn't like that at all since I was at a conference the whole day and barely got any time to work out.

2. No fridge. What a bummer. I couldn't save any left over food.

3. My aunt's room had a broken bathroom. Weird but they made up for it by giving her a suite. Which was sweet. Get it? Ha...

4. Parking is a bit compact but manageable.

5. People on our floor were extremely loud after midnight and kept waking me up. I guess it was just our luck it was a busy weekend.

6. Wi-Fi was terrible. Kept going on and off.

Yeah, this sounds like a two star hotel to me. For the price, I could have been somewhere else better.

Hotel is perfect, first floor is huge making it easy to get to&from rooms. Comfortable bed and pillows, small sink area but huge mirror right behind you. Also loved the water pressure, it was nice and strong.

Came by two weeks ago for a wedding reception and like other people have stated, the staff is definitely friendly!

Although I didn't actually spend the night at the hotel because I live 30 minutes away, I did chat with a number of staff members anddd I was also very pleased with the food that was provided!

Thumbs up to Holiday Inn and their staff.

The hotel is in need of a makeover.  Of all the Holiday Inn Hotels I stayed in across the country, I'd have to say that this hotel is the most dated.  Another big turn off is that the bathroom sink is separate from the shower/tub and toilet.  But the biggest turnoff is the narrow parking spaces.

If you drive and SUV, truck or minivan, then you'll have to take up two spaces because all of the parking spaces are meant for compact cars.  Most of us in SoCal don't own a Yaris or a Fiesta yet no one on the design team seemed to figure that one out.  If you do stay here and you've got a rental, make sure to get the compact.

Some people may find that safety is an important factor when selecting a hotel.  While you cannot enter the hotel without a key card after 10pm, the same security cannot be applied to your vehicle.  During my 4-night stay here, there were 2 separate break-ins.  And during that time the idea of cleaning up the broken glass did not occur to anyone.

The entire hotel staff is friendly, and that's always a plus.  There is a restaurant located on the main floor of the hotel as well as a handful of conference rooms.  Vending machines do not exist so don't bother looking.  However, there is a refrigerated case adjacent to the Registration Desk and an Arco across the street.  Another plus is that there is a strip mall adjacent to the hotel with several dining options available, in case you want to save a little $$$ by not dining on site.

I would probably not stay here again solely because of the parking situation.

It's tight (and not in a good way)...

Had an excellent experience as far as the cleanliness & comfort goes. Super quiet at night. Plenty of parking in parking garage. Beds are super comfortable. A beautiful hotel in a wonderful part of town in walking distance to tons of restaurants, stores & Starbucks (which obviously is a huge incentive). I would recommend to anyone looking for a nice, quiet, clean, comfortable hotel. The only thing I would criticize our stay for was that we used the pool for about an hour the day we checked in and were looking forward to using the hot tub afterwards, but literally during our entire swim in the pool there were 3 strange men dressed in T-shirts & dirty jeans creepily staring at us from the hot tub area the whole time. I'm not even exaggerating. THE WHOLE TIME. So, understandably, we decided to try the hot tub later that night hoping and expecting the men to be gone. But nope! Much to our dismay, 5 hours after we left the pool... yes, FIVE HOURS LATER....at 10:00pm the 3 men were still in the exact same spots, in the exact same clothes, in the same chairs circling the hot tub (not actually IN the hot tub, mind you, but sitting around it as if protecting it like some gold mine), this time with their trusty 30 pack of Bud Light in hand. Did they have nothing better to do? I mean, you're staying at a hotel. In the center of a beautiful city in Southern California. Right smack in the middle of summer, at the height of tourist season. With such attractions like Sea World, San Diego Zoo, and well, THE OCEAN just minutes away. Why spend your day wrinkling up around a hot tub chugging beer like a stereotypical creeper waiting for a glimpse of mostly young girls in bikinis like some predator that's eluding capture by Chris Hanson? DOES NOT MAKE SENSE. Needless to say, it was not welcoming at all, and extremely uncomfortable for everyone at the pool. Hoping for a "No Loitering" sign in big bold letters to be hanging above the hot tub the next time I stay at this hotel, which I will because it was so clean!

How this place is a 3 and 1/2 star is beyond me. I have stayed here a few times and it is hit and miss on the rooms as well as the quality of customer service. Food for thought - stay away from first and second floor rooms...they are not renovated, less classy. and have NO refrigerator. This is my second time being put on floor 2 and it was on this visit where I realized the missing refrigerator and unclassy look of this floor. The first time I stayed on this floor I called the front desk and had them deliver a refrigerator - it wasn't a problem. On this visit, I called again about a refrigerator and the front desk said the maintenance man would deliver a refrigerator if one was available...4 hours later no refrigerator or a call from the front desk stating "none are available". Low and behold I happen to run into the maintenance guy in the hallway and I confronted him about my request for a refrigerator 4 hours earlier. He stated he has been working for the last 10 hours and he was the only maintenance man on duty. I asked him if he was aware of my request for a refrigerator and he said the front desk never paged him or called him for a delivery of a refrigerator to my room. The maintenance man further informed me that the only he just ran out of refrigerators but had plenty available when I made my request to the front desk. The rooms on the third and fourth floor are much better if you MUST stay here. The first and second floor are nothing but trash in my opinion. For the rate I paid, the service I received from the front desk makes this hotel definitely a one star Holiday Inn. I doubt I will ever return.

I would never come back here again ever!!!!!!!! First of all the Manager, Asian lady was not customer service oriented. And when we asked for a rollaway bed she said no those rooms don't allow it. She said only the suites can, but I never heard her say if we wanted to upgrade no suggestion for an alternative nothing, she needs training. What makes a customer come back to any place is the signature experience which this place has none...... Holiday inn for me was a bad choice for my Birthday weekend and again, you need to train your managers better. I have had a better experience at Best Western Plus then here, not to mention the lack of quietness. Not a good resting place, and some weird people, stick to Hotel Circle or Downtown San Diego. One thing only the cleaning staff they are great cant really say that about this manager lady we spoke to. Beware Stay away from here, plus asked for a muffin for my son and guess what they only offer an English muffin at least I guess. Not a good place to stay..
No Refrigerator in room. Parking may be free but rather pay it elsewhere and have a better experience.

Never  Again.
Think Twice before you stay here.  Upon arrival the hotel and room looked clean and comfortable.  After itching through the night I started to wonder.  I do not know what the little tink black grains were I found in the bed and on my skin but sleeping was not easy.  

As I packed to checkout I realized the little black specs I saw on the sink were not the design...they were moving (ANTS).  Fortunately, I did not put my hygene items on the sink before use.  I did not report it after the bed and the sink my only interest was to pack and get out of there as quickly as possible.  I steamed my suitcase and put all my clothes in dry cleaner (or through then away) when I got home.

The staff was very nice and they  reversed a charge the hotel made to my credit card for 79.84 at 2:30 in the morning while I was asleep.  I only had to ask for them to address the error 3 times then they jumped on it, although my credit card company is still waiting for conformation from the Holiday Inn????   I am just grateful that my instincts led me to use a prepaid card with text alerts or I would never have known about the charge until much later.    

I posted this information on their website but it seems to have disappeared.....So I placed it here so you will know...  Think Twice before you stay here.

Used PRICELINE and got great one night weekend price with breakfast voucher for two.
Free parking. Free WiFi.
Room was clean and spacious for two queen beds, TV and minifridge.
Lobby has computers and fax service and a little Market for water bottles and other items like bottled bear.
Reception was polite and helpful.
First floor room was a little humid but you can crack the window a tad to help.
The bathroom appeared clean but the shower head and facet were loose and nearly detached from the wall. A floor tile was also loose.

We had to move out of the house while it was being painted and thought we'd stay here. I like a suite so that I can feel at home and lounge on the sofa, and can sleep in without being disturbed by Mr. Bright-and-Early-Morning-Guy. Everyone here was really nice and helpful, they tried their best. My room wasn't ready at 3:00pm check-in time so I had to wait, and they offered free dinner or drinks as an apology. Should have taken the drinks because there was nothing on the menu for vegans. We were told that the chef could make something, but the waitress had no idea what a plant-based diet is, and kept asking if I wanted to choose something from the menu. (English is a second language for some of the staff.) We left and Mr. B&EMG used the credits for breakfast.

The room was so very not special, with a tiny "living" area. Water pressure very low. The pillows were typical lumpy foam. The sofa was stiff and uncomfortable, and we were right in the back of the hotel, overlooking the parking lot and I-15. And it was just too noisy for me. Generator noise somewhere below, traffic noise from the freeway, creaking floorboards from the room above us, even hallway noise although we were at the very end of the hallway. I asked for another room but they were completely booked for suites. So we stayed one night and left.

It's an okay room for anyone who is not picky about comfort. Most men probably wouldn't mind it. It just wasn't good enough for me.

The room looked & smelled clean, but upon further looking, there was some "stuff" on the headboard!  Don't even want to know what it was...

This hotel will not tell you this over the phone, but they will put a hold of $50 or more on your credit card, for possible "incidentals".

This hotel also seems to have at least one or two incompetent people working here. Howso? They charged us for a night that we never even stayed here for! They then claimed that they had credited us that "mistake" night for one we had actually stayed for, but when we checked our card balance, we had been charged for THREE nights! Not just he two we actually had stayed here. Thank goodness for credit cards, because it seems that we might have to fight credit card charges from this place! With so many other hotels in the area, we suggest shopping around, before giving this place your credit card number!

I booked and stayed at this hotel during Labor Day weekend and overall was quite satisfied.  Service was very friendly, rooms were exceptionally clean and lobby was clean as well.

As far as the negative, I had to agree with a few yelpers that the parking was definitely designed for dumb compact cars (ugly smart car, fiat, or motorcycle).  The anger it creates is like you mentally want to pick up those little vehicles with telepathy and put it off the Golden Gate Bridge!  There was also a few signs throughout the parking lot warning guests of possible theft and that Holiday Inn is clearly not responsible.  I guess caring for guest safety is clearly not at the top of the list.

Another annoying pet peeve was that the brochures for local things to do was at the bottom floor instead of near the front desk.  I mean, I don't mind walking, but it should be more convenient for guest.

The pool and spa was heated, which was cool, but full of non-English speaking obnoxious foreigners hogging it, so we didn't get to really enjoy it.  If ever in the San Diego area, I would come back, because it's not too expensive, most of the perks are free (WiFi, Parking, etc), unlike most hotels that insist on gauging you for every item.

Last, but not least I would highly recommend management resurface the parking area to cater to luxury sedans.  Good customers roll in style, put the compact car section a block away or something!  :)

I have checked in to this hotel plenty of times and have yet to be unsatisfied! The front end parking is not meant for large vehicles, so I suggest to continue all the way down for parking or their small parking garage (free parking). You can walk up to the entrance or use the elevator from the parking garage (during business hours).

The staff here is friendly and helpful. Only incident was with one of my buddies checking in got some attitude when he was attempting to verify certain items on his reservation.

The lobby is very modern with a bar and restaurant to match. The rooms were clean and spacious. They didn't have the modern appeal like the lobby and need to be updated. Beds are great along with the climate control!

The restaurant was the best part! The food was great! I recommend you try the chips and guacamole (avocado) dip, you won't be disappointed. I also experienced breakfast and the burrito was more than enough to fill you up. The servers didn't offer any type of extra service or discounts for large groups, so that was a downfall. They also took their time during breakfast to get you your check!

Overall, would stay here again and was impressed by the restaurant. Only negatives were the tight parking in front of the hotel and the subpar service from the staff.

Customer service was grate and quick. Parking stalls in the front area are very small unless you drive a Yugo. Beds were very cold and comfortable knocked out fast. Nice size rooms and the breakfast was pretty good in the small diner near the bar. Very close to M.E.P.S. military processing station. My son is leaving to the Air Force. I would stay here again for a less costly get away.
