I loved this hotel!  We had a 2 bedroom suite (4 adults and 2 toddlers) with a sleeper sofa.  The room was very clean, has a full-sized refrigerator a 2-burner stove, a microwave, and 2 full bathrooms.  On top of that, there's a free breakfast in the morning with more than just pastries and cold cereal.  The breakfast varies a bit each morning (one morning was sausage, another had bacon) and you can make your own fresh waffles.  If you stay during the week (Monday-Thursday), they even offer a free dinner!  We took advantage of that perk on Wed-Thurs.  The first night was chicken enchiladas with rice & beans.  The second night was chicken wings and fries.  The food is not super amazing, but it's pretty decent and free, so it's still a big plus.  I would stay at this hotel again and recommend it to friends and family staying in the area.  It's also really close to the airport (with no airport noise), Sea World, and the San Diego Zoo.

My husband and I just had a wonderful vacation in San Diego and so glad that we picked to stay at Homewood Suites.   Room was spacious, clean, quiet and comfortable. We loved having the full kitchen, pool, and free breakfast daily.  It is also one of the very few hotels that offers free parking (other hotels were chargin $15 - 30/day!).  It is extremely close to the airport and located centrally from all major attractions.  We will definitely stay at this hotel again next time we're in San Diego.

nice, clean suits.  full kitchen!  perfect for a family with kids.
swimming pool with jacuzzi is clean.  towels chairs available.
great service.  4-5 miles from downtown/little italy...

only thing that can be better is the breakfast.  not as good as embassy suites...  but not too bad either.

We planned a last minute trip to San Diego for Labor Day, and after looking at several hotels with suites we opted to go for an actual hotel with nothing but suites. Wasnt sure what to expect, but i must say, I WAS IMPRESSED! Super nice hotel with kitchen, dining table, living room and the most comfortable bed than any other hotel ive ever been. Location is amazing...minutes away from pretty much anything...great place i tell you. So why the 4 stars you ask? I took away a star because there is no door that seperates the living room from the bedroom...just a plain door way =/

Pros: the hotel is quiet, except for airplanes constantly flying over head, but the guests & staff didn't wake me up which is rare, free breakfast, kitchen included, nice appearance.
Cons: bathrooms are small only one small sink, beds are uncomfortable, after a couple nights my back is killing me, no DVD players in room but you can go check one out for free in lobby, one ice machine for the whole building very inconveinent but refrigerators have ice maker inside.

First and foremost, I am a huge Hilton properties fan.  It's all about the Hilton Honors points for me.  I have had my eye on this property ever since it opened recently.  I was stationed on this property back in the day when it was NTC.  The bridge from Worm Island is right there and the U.S.S. Recruit is also on the property.  Lot's of fond memories of my foolish youth when I was a sailor obligated to the United States Navy during one of the few modern peace time eras our country has experienced.

Within 15 minutes of checking in, I was not very impressed.  I waited till past the check in time of four p.m. and at five thirty, my room was not ready.  Within a half hour I walked in to my very spacious 2 room suite.  The front desk bumped me up to a nicer room than my studio.  My room was right next to an elevator.  This did not end up being a bad thing, though.

The room was nicely equipped with  everything I need to cook.  Full size fridge, 2 burner stove top, coffee maker.  Most important?  During the managers social hour, I grilled a very nice rib eye from Henry's down at the courtyard over looking the channel.  Homewood Suites have gas grills at most of their locations.  Because I am of the opinion my cooking is probably better than what I can find on the restaurant scene, gas grills are another huge plus for me.

This property is close to Lindberg Field.  Spanish Landing has a bike trail along the harbor that will take you right into the city.  Little Italy, the Waterfront B&G, the Gaslamp District, Sleezeport Village, all with in an very easy bicycle ride of about half an hour.

The morning breakfast is presented nicely by a very gracious staff, but the food for the most part is institutional.( Mystery Eggs)  The saving grace is the make-them-yourself waffles with strawberries and whipped cream.  The same could be said about the evening meal, institutional but the straight forward salad bar will nicely compliment what you cook up on the grill.  I am pretty sure I easily drank my body weight of Bud Lite at least one night.

Overall, great property for business travelers and families.  Walking distance close to restaurants, Trader Joes and Vons.

My husband and I recently got married and selected Homewood Suites as one of our hotels for our guests.  We couldn't have been happier! Our guests had a great time (dinners and breakfast included!), they helped connect us to a bus company to transport our guests to the wedding venue, and they were very easy to work with.  We ended up staying here the night before the wedding and the night of the wedding and were very pleased!

I'm a fan of Hilton properties, so this property was among those that I evaluated for my trip to San Diego. We were not surprised that this property was as advertised. We like the location, and the free parking (which can be ridiculously overpriced at some properties). Got what we paid for, and more. This is where we'll return when we go back to San Diego.

Stayed here (in a 1 BR suite) for almost 3 months.  If you need a kitchen, with a nice, modern room, and a good location (between DT and the beaches), this place can't be beat.

Pros: excellent service, great location, nice kitchen, comfortable bed, two LCDs with HD, free internet and parking.

Cons (they're minor): uncomfortable sofa in the living room, the food for breakfast and dinner was average (some of the meals were pretty good, some not-so-much).

Overall, this Hilton property is highly recommended.  The hotel management and employees were awesome: I definitely appreciated their hospitality.

Excellent! I will definitely stay there again! Rooms spacious and clean, staff friendly, large pool, free breakfast. So far I am a big fan of all the Homewood suites I have stayed in and this one lived up to their reputation.
Close to San Diego attractions and easy to find.

Originally, we wanted to stay at the Residence Inn; however, the location   we chose did not have the king size bed available and the price was higher than Homewood suites. We made a good decision staying at this hotel.  Great location, very close to the airport and the fish market, one of our favorite restaurants in San Diego.   I thought the breakfast buffet was great.   Friendly staff.  I will definitely consider staying at this hotel for the next trip.

This is a relatively new property that opened about three years ago, according to my reservationist. She told me that I would love it, and I did.

I've looked at condos in SF with this kind of square footage and places this big generally run about $750-800K in a "transitioning neighborhood."

Shall we go over the inventory?

2 bedrooms (1 queen and 1 king)
2 full closets
2 full bathrooms
living room with full-sized couch and club chair
full kitchen stocked with all the necessary tools and equipment

I was totally blown away. And then I see the menu for the complimentary dinner served in the lodge, Monday through Thursday. This is in addition to the daily hot breakfast that they serve up. Eggs, waffles, cereal, oatmeal, toast, bagels... I could go on.

And then there's the outdoor fireplace (HOT!), heated pool, hot tub, and basketball court. All beautifully maintained and landscaped.

If I was a mom, this is a total deal for a family.

As a 20-something, this is a total deal for packing in as many girls as you can in a room for a spontaneous SoCal trip.

Until we meet again Homewood!

It's always great staying at a recently opened hotel.  But, this place is even great because of its location.  It's less than 5 minutes from the San Diego International Airport, between 10-15 minutes from downtown and is within a new commercial complex called Liberty Station that features a variety of shops, eateries and services.

My husband had a conference at Sheraton Hotel & Marina. When they were fully-booked, we looked into this place and we're glad we ended up staying here. It's perfect for a family and the facilities are great. Their breakfast buffet is located by the reception area and is spacious enough to accommodate a crowd. And there are enough seats by the garden, which opens out to the waterfront.  They have a good size swim pool and a game room with a pool table.

The waterfront isn't exactly a marina but I thought it was just perfect because it was peaceful and scenic, especially when the sun rises. Guests can stroll or jog along it. During our stay, we watched a swim race going on right in the water.

We didn't have too much interaction with the staff so I wouldn't be able to give much input on that aspect. But, I think they were generally congenial.  I noticed though that they weren't replenishing the pool towels on a regular basis.  We always had to make sure to stop by the receptionist to secure our towels.

All in all, we enjoyed our stay here. For the duration of your visit, there's a free breakfast buffet, free wireless internet connection, and free parking.  You're all set!  If this gets fully-booked, try the Marriott Courtyard right beside it.

Fantastic! Staying here on points, and have a 1-br suite (large) - got groceries at Trader Joe's, within a mile, and cooked in the room, which overlooks the water. Husband is out checking out Oggi's - brewery across the parking lot. Kids sacked out in the bed. Will be back!

This is a pretty new hotel, located in the newly gentrified shopping center that is Liberty Station in Point Loma, where the old Rosecrans base was up until the 1990s.

The area is spacious, quiet, and safe, and conveniently located about a mile from the airport and about 2 miles from the I-8 freeway. In the Liberty Station area there is a new mall, with Von's, Trader Joe's, Ace Hardware and several chain type eateries near this hotel.

Homewood Suites is an all suite hotel, with the free morning breakfast. The 1 bedroom suites are not spacious, but they do have 2 rooms separated by a wall and door, and a full stainless steel kitchen.
There is a sofa bed, a king in the bedroom, and two 27 inch flat panel LG TVs.

Although it is very near the airport, you don't here much airplane noise.  From here, you are about 4 miles from Ocean Beach, Mission Bay, and Sea World. Downtown is also about 4 miles away, so it is a convenient location. There is a Courtyard by Marriott right next door, so you can pick which suites your fancy. Personally, I prefer the suites concept, but otherwise this places feels a lot like a Courtyard.

InFeb/ March of 2010, the rates for most full all Hilton's in san Diego are between $150 - $200, with the Mission Valley Hilton available for $125. This Homewood, which is supposed to be less service and less upscale than Hilton, is going for $170. So it has become quite popular for its location, space, and convenience, and now not as great a value, but still worth your consideration.

Being a suites hotel with a private bedroom and sofabed, with free breakfast and convenient location, this could be very popular with families, especially in the summertime. If you are young family, this could be a great choice. If you are here on business during the summer, consider the pitter patter of little feet interrupting your business conference call

This hotel has both 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom suites. It also has free Wi Fi, a big plus in my book!

What a great and Beautiful hotel. We stayed there Friday-Sunday and just had the best time. It's really clean and close to everything. The property the Hotel is on is just amazing, if you walk down far enough there is this great little playground for the kids. A very family friendly hotel. The pool was great and heated the Jacuzzi was nice and relaxing. Has a great breakfast in the morning. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is going to San Diego for the weekend. I loved it and didn't want to leave.

Stayed for a long weekend. Got the regular suite since it was just hubby and i. Nice, clean spacious suite with nice kitchen area and a dining table. Free breakfast was good! Cant complain cuz it s free and good. Besides it s complimentary buffet and not cooked to order. Staff very friendly. Free spacious parking in the hotel property. Free wifi in each room. Modern looking. Great location. I m giving 4 stars just because there is a 1/2  basketball court and even though we were staying on the top floor, we could hear some kids bouncing the ball after 9pm with both window opened and closed. Perhaps hotel management should make sure nobody uses the court after certain time or better yet get rid of it.

This it not a very recent stay I'm reviewing!

I booked a 2 bedroom suite since it's cheaper then booking 2 separate motel rooms and we needed 2 rooms.
It was our first time at any Homewood suites and didn't know what to expect.  I read good reviews about this one and it didn't disappoint.

There were 2 bedroom with a bathroom for each room in an impeccable condition.  The full kitchen was nice, although we only used the refrigerator.

We didn't had breakfast since there are so many good places to have breakfast in San Diego and diner isn't served during the weekends.

Homewood suites is a nice discovery and we probably will stay again in other cities.

The only thing keeping it from a 5 is the cooking. Sometimes the eggs are great, sometimes watery. Dinner is great 90% of the time, I will definitely stay here again.

Great location near Point Loma and downtown. Nice walking trails lead in many interesting directions. The hotel is adjacent to a large urban park so there is plenty of place to let the kids run loose. Our room was good-sized, with a kitchen and two tables to eat or work at. Included meals were fresh and tasted fine but there are nearby restaurants that are very good too so meals shouldn't be a source of anxiety. The pool was warm and the hottub was hotter - both important features in a hotel for me.

I really liked the hotel.  Desk clerk was friendly and professional.  Although the shuttle bus wasn't running, the hotel reimbursed my taxi fees.  My room was perfect (quiet, clean, useable).  Breakfast was awesome - lots of choices.  My only complaint is that the fitness center is not on the first floor so it does not open until 6 a.m.  As a business traveler, I don't have the freedom to exercise after 6 and still get ready for the day.  If the hotel is going to advertise a fitness center and there are such restrictions, please post that information.  Otherwise, excellent.

I LOVE this place!  Our last visit we stayed in the two bedroom suite. We had a nice view of the water. The suites are smaller than other Homewood suites but adequate. Breakfast gets busy so you need to get their early. I was glad to see they added two more waffle irons since everybody wants to make their own waffles. The hotel is located near the water so you can fish, or even swim(I saw people swimming, I am assuming it is allowed). A little ways down are two playgrounds complete with sand. The walking trail was nice where people walked their dog, jogged and rode bikes. Across the parking lot are several restaurants if you choose not to partake in the dinner Sun-Thursday I believe. Customer service is top notch  It is a very quiet hotel and this will be our home base when we go to San Diego.

As business travelers we are in a lot of hotels.  I rarely write a review on the first visit and very rarely give a place five stars.  This is an outstanding hotel.  The customer service is excellent and the room is well laid out.  The property is very well maintained.  Everything is very clean and the staff works hard to keep it that way.  Our mattress sagged a little and we had a bed board that fixed it within ten minutes of asking for one!!  That fixed the bed perfectly.  When we closed the window we could not hear the airplanes.  The breakfast and dinner are very good.  The pool area is also well maintained.  There are a lot of kids here but the hotel walls are solid and we didn't hear a thing.  We have stayed at the Marriott, Embassy Suites and other more expensive places in San Diego but we like this much better.

Phenomenal location, incredible staff, wonderful, clean and very comfortable accommodations! We loved everything about this place, and sincerely look forward to our next visit. Rick Brown is an amazing manager, and his team of associates including Kirk, and all the crew work non-stop to ensure a memorable and enjoyable stay. The kitchen staff is exceptional, and the kindest I have had the pleasure to encounter. There is truly nothing negative about this property. These rooms far surpass the comparable properties such as Residence Inn's, etc. The location is astounding, the prices are truly a bargain, but it is the staff and management which make this property shine! This place is a treasure among hotels...and a magnificent place to unwind and relax with family and friends. Enjoy!!

Located in a light commercial district not far from Point Loma. Close to the airport, but unaffected by aircraft noise. Close by some excellent restaurants and bars (esp. Oggi's) this is an good businessman's hotel. Breakfast is OK, though the coffee isn't anything to write home about. Large, comfortable rooms with robust wireless Internet and wide screen TV. Rooms have a small balcony.

Great little gem! I've traveled extensively in the past for work and pleasure. This place, for a two room suite is a great deal. Conveniently located near the airport, sea world, mission park, downtown, and much more. Additionally, the service is impeccable. Rooms are clean and spacious, plus the beds are nice. Great breakfast and beautiful location. Seating outside is very nice. I would recommend this place to anyone with or without kids.

I don't care for fancy hotels. If the hotel is clean and quiet, it'll automatically get 4 stars from me.

Why I gave it 5?

This waterfront hotel is in a plaza with a handful of restaurants to choose from (if you're looking for a quick bite to eat) and a fairly large, FREE parking lot. Every morning, they offer complimentary self-serve breakfast, including bacon, scrambled eggs and make-your-own waffles.

The location is great. It's close to most places you'd want to check out in San Diego. There's also a nice walk path in the back of the hotel, ideal for getting some fresh air. There's a Courtyard Marriott one one side but its other next door neighbor is a scale model navy ship (built right into the ground) that was used to train recruits. How cool is that?

By the way, what airplanes? I stayed there for two nights and did not hear one plane fly overhead.

this place was fantastic, not to mention convenient to most attractions, stores, and freeways. it's comparable to being in a mini resort, without paying the resort prices. I don't think I can add on to what's already posted (tripadvisor) except I wished I would have stayed here longer!
Room Tip: choose the ones in the back, so the balcony is facing the water instead of the parking lot

Hilton HHonors Diamond member. I know the Hilton brand and appreciate service and quality. I've stayed in San Diego probably 30 times; this was my 2nd time at this location. I love it! They treat me with respect and accomodate me whenever they can. I have twin toddlers that need space. They always give me a room upgrade. The dinner menu is different EVERY night of the month. The breakfast is actually pretty decent for this category of hotel. The facilities are clean and attractive. The staff is friendly. I love this location! Will be back.
Only complaint is that the internet is slow.... very slow. At least it's free.

The location is not bad, minus the road noise from Harbor Drive and occasional plane overhead.  The free breakfast and dinner is good as well.  The thing that killed it for me is how my room REEKED OF SMOKE.  Disgusting.  I thought California had given up letting people smoke in hotels many years ago.  When I woke up in the morning I could taste it in my mouth.  I asked to change to a non-smoking room and they told me they were all non-smoking rooms.  Gross.

Wonderful hotel!  Once upon a time we lived in the People's Republic of OB.  Then we grew up, got married, and had a baby.  We came back to visit and chose Homewood Suites as our base of operations.

It's location in Liberty Station is very convenient to all of our friends and family in the San Diego area.  Of course OB is right over the hill, and friends/family elsewhere in SD (downtown, Clairemont, Mission Valley, etc.) are also an easy freeway trip away.  Not to mention, the convenience of being right there near Vons and Trader Joes and all the yummy restaurants in the area.   Also, there is ample and free parking!  And free wi-fi.

We were traveling with an 8 month old who can NOT fall asleep unless he is in his own room with the lights off and white noise on.  We have learned, through trial and error, that a suite is a necessity.  Homewood Suites was perfect for us.   They provided a pack n play which we set up in the bedroom area.  He was then able to go to sleep at his usual early bedtime while we stayed up and visited in the living room.

We invited some of our friends over, and barbecued tri-trip purchased from the nearby Trader Joes on the awesome barbecues set up in the courtyard of the hotel.  Those tending the meat played pool in the adjacent game room, checking the meat now and then.  Meanwhile, I stayed in the room with the baby and cooked rice and prepared salad in the fully equipped kitchen.  Then we all sat down together to a great meal, all without having to wake the baby to bring him back to a hotel room or keeping him awake with our noise.

At the end of the night we quietly snuck back into the bedroom and went to sleep.  Our sleep was fantastic on the super comfy mattresses.  In the morning, when the little one woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed and us less so, we turned on Sesame Street on the large flat screen TV in the bedroom and all snuggled in bed for awhile before going down and chowing on the yummy and free breakfast buffet.

All in all, a wonderful experience, this hotel is truly like a home away from home.  It's the next best thing to having our apartment in OB again and made for a great way to visit with old friends without disrupting our baby's routine!  We will for sure be staying here again!

We stayed at Homewood Suites in June and loved the entire experience.  We were celebrating my daughter's 4th birthday and decided to take a family trip to Sea World which consisted of my parents, husband, daughter and 2 year old twin boys.  We loved the location which was walking distance to Starbucks and other food establishments where we could pick up a quick bite to eat (it was a weekend and the included dinners are only on the weekdays).  The rooms were clean and well equiped and the staff was very friendly.
We just got back from another two day trip to San Diego and unfortunately we were unable to book this hotel because it was already sold out.  We all really missed staying at this hotel and I am making sure to book this hotel for our next trip in December.  It's a great value for the price with the included breakfast, the location is fantastic and the staff really aims to please.

We needed a place for an extended weekend, and I prefer the Hilton brands...especially those with a complimentary breakfast.  After a search on the Hilton site, Homestead at Liberty won the toss.

Located right next to the Courtyard Marriott, HS is very convenient to the airport, Old Town, and all the typical attractions around SD.  Free parking, free internet, and free breakfast are some of the perks they offer.  Additionally, Mon-Thu evenings, they provide free adult beverages and a light dinner (although the Thu we were there, it was hot dogs and macaroni...(ugh)).

The rooms are quiet, the TVs are HD, the bathrooms are spacious.  Nice pool/spa area, and they even have a game room with a real billiard table!

In fact, there's only two real dings about being here.
1]  the suites are spacious....except for the bedrooms themselves.  Those are INCREDIBLY small....maybe a foot between the end of the bed and the dresser.
2] the breakfast, while free, consistently had extremely overcooked scrambled eggs.  NO moisture whatsoever.

Other than that, I recommend this Homestead Suites property.  Plenty of perks, and a good solid location are hard to beat!

This is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in! I love that the room has a full size fridge, a kitchenette (which also included pots, pans and utensils) and when you use the dishes and leave them in the sink, the maids clean them for you! The room and hotel are squeaky clean (a huge thing for me). The free breakfast in the morning was way better than expected too-not just your average fruit and toast, but they had eggs, a waffle maker, fresh juice, cereal, bagels...it was wonderful! The area surrounding the hotel has plenty to offer too! Lots of restaurants and grocery shopping about a half mile away...I'm definitely coming here next time I want to get away with the kids!

This place rocks! I only stayed here for 12 hours before I had to catch a flight, but if I was ever on business again and didn't want to be downtown OR was coming to SD with my family and children, I would stay here.

First off, it's super close to the airport, free shuttle to the airport, free wifi and free very large spread at breakfast (with hot items) and a full on dinner with wine and beer! They had a decent salad bar there as well, and brownies/ice cream for dessert.

I was upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite upon arrival, and for $165 this place was bigger than my apt. It had a really nice kitchen (no oven), two bathrooms and at least two TVs in the room. The staff was also very helpful.

If you have kids this is a great place to stay at if you're on a budget considering all the free food.

I recently stayed here with my family and I can't say enough great things about this hotel. The concierge are friendly, helpful and eager to accomodate. The lobby is spacious, comfortable and there is always fresh coffee :) The rooms are clean, warm and inviting. The pool is gorgeous with views of the water and great palm trees.

The location is perfect-close to downtown, there is a starbucks, oggi's pizza, sushiya, subway, smashburger and more just across the parking lot.

Upon me leaving, I had asked to take the complimentary airport shuttle which is also very close to Homewood suites.  I unfortunately scheduled the shuttle for a bit too late, when a cab pulled up by coincidence before the shuttle, the manager took money out of his own pocket to pay for the ride. If that is not fantastic customer service and going above and beyond, I don't know what is!

Thank you for a great vacation Homewood suites!

Stayed here for a couple of nights due to a business meeting nearby. Hotel is in a great location. The area around it is very clean, appears fairly safe and has lots of restaurants and shops nearby. The staff is excellent and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and welcome. I did have an issue with a charge they made to my credit card that should not have been made and it took additional calls and several days to get it resolved. But reception was very nice about it and I felt that they worked with me to get it resolved.

Housekeeping did a great job cleaning my room and even let me schedule when I wanted it cleaned after the first day when I returned late in the afternoon and my room hadn't been cleaned yet. Rooms are a little dated, furniture definitely needs some upgrading and the bed did not have enough support.

The full kitchen (minus oven) was great. I brought my own Keurig and K-cups because some hotels (like this one) are still using those pod brewers that make yuck coffee. I didn't do any cooking in the room other than microwaving snacks. The hotel posts a menu for the week's dinners on the room fridge so you can decide ahead of time if you want to eat out or not. During the week I was there, they had fajitas one night and I'm not fond of fajitas so we went downtown for dinner.

The hotel's breakfast and dinner were such a time and $$$ saver tho. But sometimes breakfast could get REALLY busy and crowded with families, esp during the last hour so go early if eating in peace is your thing. Dinner was also crowded mainly because a lot of people will arrive early and "save" a table for their families. During one of the dinners, it was so crowded that families were eating out in the lobby/reception area.

I loved the hotel's location, amenities and staff but I'm not sure I would stay here again for business. (It's a great location for families, tho.) The free wi-fi didn't make up for the fact that wi-fi reception in my room sucked so I had to either sit in the lobby or in the dining room to get better reception. Also there were way too many children running around making it unattractive for me as a business traveler. I can't imagine what the noise level is like during the summer or on weekends.

Overall this is a fairly good hotel and one I would recommend if you're traveling with family or if your business is nearby (as mine was) and you're only there for a short time.

I absolutely LOVE this hotel.  Their staff are always great.  The two bedroom, two bath accommodations are more than adequate for my family of five.  This part of San Diego is absolutely the BEST when it comes to mobility.  Nothings too far away from this hotel and, even though not the greatest.  Their breakfast and weekday dinners which change daily are included with your stay.

When in San Diego, this is the hotel I love to stay and play at.

Great location--Liberty Station and Stone Brewing are awesome!  Very inconvenient that the gyms don't open until 0600, but I can see why as the walls are very thin.  There was construction going on during my visit, and it was unreasonably loud.

A great place to stay near the airport in San Diego.

I spent two nights here and have all kinds of good things to say. My suite had a kitchen, decent-size sitting area plus a bedroom with a king bed.  Bedroom was tiny, kitchen was notably huge!  Kitchen and bath were all granite counters, tile floors, first-rate.    The shower head must have been 8 feet up on the wall, it was like being under a waterfall.   Towels were thick and plentiful, sheets and bedding were comfortable, I lost count of the pillows there were so many!

Free wired and wireless internet in the rooms was solid (as in reliable, never went out) if not especially fast.  I didn't want to stream netflix, but I did need to get work done. The desk had a proper desk chair, which made working on the laptop pretty easy.

Free food was a big plus, and eating at the tables outdoors was a bonus. The breakfast buffet was delicious and generous with oatmeal, cereals, waffles, juices, eggs, sausage gravy, biscuits etc etc.  The coffee was pretty much drinkable; it was definitely brewed, not reconstituted.  The only flaw at breakfast was a notable lack of fresh fruit, can't imagine that ripe fruit is hard to get in the Summer in California but they served canned peaches anyhow. The weekday dinners were not quite up to the standard of breakfast but still OK.  One night we were served good fajitas, another night cold cuts and white bread.  But for free!  Includes tap-your-own  Bud Light, yes still free; red or white wine, yes yes still all covered by the room price.

If you don't like free food (really?), you can walk across the parking lot to a strip mall with half a dozen casual places, including Starbux. No need to drive anywhere.

The hi-def TV actually showed hi-def channels with the proper screen stretch settings, how great is that.

I checked out the pool (warm) and hot tub (hot) but never made it in.

Free parking too, unlike so many other places in SD.

Staff was very friendly and helpful at checkin.  Had no problems so I never had to bother them after that!

SD has a busy airport and one of the takeoff/landing routes is no more than half a mile away (and a quarter mile up) from this hotel.  You can stand on your balcony and watch the planes.  If you keep the doors and windows shut you'll probably never notice.

They charge more for the rooms that face the little inlet ("bay view" hah).  Somehow I managed to get my little suite for well under two benjamin franklins a night but other days this hotel is pricey.  It's always more than the GSA per diem unfortunately, I don't think that's by accident.  Not at all sure it's worth as much as they charge but it was definitely a very nice place to stay.

Four stars for a very nice room and great location. Comfortable bed and clean room, our  room was a little noisy due to neighboring room air conditioner. The free breakfast was decent,  deferent each day we were there. Would defiantly stay here again.

The Hilton Suites is right next door to the Marriott.  Our family reserved rooms at both locations.

The suites are just that, suites with a bit more room.  Full kitchen which works great of you have kids.  Having a frig and a place to make light meals can really save some $.

The buffet breakfast is included with the price of the room so feed them all early and grab a piece of fruit before hitting the road or pool.

There is a beautiful walking path on the back side where many go for a walk, run or to take the kids.

Ahh...I wish I were back there now.

I can't say enough good thing about this hotel.  This is one of the nicer hotels in San Diego if u are on the budget but don't want to stay at the low end ones.  They had something like free breakfast  and dinner when stayed there during Xmas,  I know it's not fancy, but sometimes, I just want something simple and light.  And it saves time not to have to find the restaurant when u are traveling.  I want to save my time in going to Legoland, Zoo and sight-seeing, who wants to be bogged down by meal choices.  So that was a big plus for me.

Also, the pool with jacuzzi is another plus, apparently not many ppl wanted to use the pool when it was barely drizzling, lol, so we had it all to ourselves.

The view is awesom which is added bonus.

I'll definitely stay here again.

This ia my third year to attend a confernce at the san diego convention center. This year I looked for a hotel that was less expensive with more amenities than what I had close to the convention center.

For 219.00 per night , I got a great room with a full kitchen (excluding oven), hot breakfast, dinner with wine & beer Mon-Thurs, waterfront, free parking, free wi-fi, and within walking distance to plenty of restaurants and a park. There is a great outdoor area with a fireplace and two huge gas grills.

219.00 night may not seem that great, but when you consider hotels by the convention center are $100 more per night and considering you don't even get a mini fridge or microwave and add the cost of meals, parking and wifi, it all adds up quickly.

This is a great place to take a family on a budget.  A lot of meals are included plus the kitchen is stocked with the basic cookware and dining ware. the dinners provided Monday through Thursday were surprisingly good. Every night had a fresh salad bar an entree with sides. while it is still a free hotel buffet, most of the meals were not bad and the guy who managed the dinner was very polite and friendly. He checked on everyone during their meals and ask them if they needed another drink or any thing else.

if I ever get the opportunity to visit San Diego again, I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel.

I have mixed feelings about this place.  Our family has stayed here a couple times.  The food they serve at breakfast and dinner is good, and included.  That is nice.  It tastes good and is healthy.  And free.  The pool is tiny.  The rooms are OK.  They don't treat Diamond members like Diamond members.  For example, they have these two nice gas bbqs in the courtyard.  So, as a guest, you might get excited about using them (like we did on the 4th of July)...yet the bbqs were being used by a bunch of people, clearly not guests.  When I told the people at the front desk, asking them if they were going to enforce the use of these bbqs so that the guests could use them, the guy said they are open to the public.  Guest amenities that are open to the public so guests see the amenity but can't actually use them?  I would rather they not even have the damn things if they are going to have them open to anyone and everyone who wants to come up from the park and use them.  What is the point?  Better to not have them at all than to have them and frustrate guests who can't even use them.

As it turns out, what was happening was the entire hotel staff decided it was a good idea to invite their friends and family for a 4th of BBQ on hotel grounds - with their dogs, loud music, and monopolizing the space.  How management can allow this is beyond me.  Guests pay good money to stay here and it is ridiculous and unacceptable to have to deal with this.

I highly recommend this hotel to family with  young children!!!  Their hot tub and pool are outdoor but they are heated nicely!!! My girl was having a great time at the pool while I am wearing jacket watching her in the pool...We stayed here at the time that they are under remodeling! I can tell that their new rooms will be much nicer with brand new carpet, new bed and mattress and furniture!!!  I am looking forward to check their new room out!!!
Their breakfast and light dinner are not the best, but I think their services are over excellent!!! Their staffs are very nice and attentive!!! I am very surprise to see the level of service that they provide us!!!
Very impressive! Love this hotel!!!
Will be back for sure!!!

Recently took a family trip down to SD and with 5 adults and 1 toddler we wanted a hotel that would give us plenty of room and Homewood Suites by Hilton delivered.  We booked a 2 bedroom suite which included a king bed in one of rooms and a queen bed in the other.  Each room had its own bathroom.  The couch in the living room also included a pull out bed.  The room was very spacious - enough room for my toddler to run around.  Kitchen included a full size refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, dishes/pots/pans/utensils, and appliances such as a coffee maker, toaster, and blender.  There is a 2 burner electric stove.  No oven here.  Rooms were clean, beds comfy and a great view of the water.  Parking is free as well as wi-fi.

Breakfast is included daily with your room and they have a variety of breakfast offerings from hot to cold items.  The hot items vary just a little bit each morning.  But there was always some kind of egg, a meat, and potatoes.  They also offer a make your own waffle station as well as cereal, bagels/toast, and pastries.  Coffee and tea were always available in the lobby.  Dinner is also included (Monday through Thursday) and good for those on a budget.  There's a menu on the fridge listing each night's offerings so you can plan to dine in the hotel or elsewhere.  There is a nearby plaza with plenty of food offerings - Smashburger, Oggi's Pizza, Subway, a Mexican Restaurant, and a Thai restaurant.

Staff here are super friendly and helpful.  Would not hesitate to stay here again when in San Diego.

Also we are in the north building on the third floor and the Wi-Fi is perfect here so maybe they fix that

This airport hotel stands out for me for its extremely customer service oriented staff.

I arrived at the airport on one of the last flights in, arriving at 730 pm (airport was already shut down for the night!) and called the hotel and spoke to a friendly and efficient person who promised to send the shuttle right away. It took me about 5-10 minutes to get outside to the shuttle stop and I think I only waited a minute or two more for the shuttle.

Check in was smooth and fast and I was in my spacious king room in a manner of minutes. As I had an early flight next morning I reserved a spot on the 430 am shuttle.

Next morning I was up early and since I wouldn't be around for breakfast, the offered a free "to go" bag with a banana, apple, bagel and 2 muffins-very nice, and unexpected.

Great place to stay; reasonably priced, in a great location. Walk or bike along the water, take a swim in the pool, sit on the deck, enjoy the outdoor fireplaces; bocce ball; basketball court. All of the Liberty Station restaurants and shops w/in walking distance. Plus, nightly free happy hour and light dinner in the lounge.

My friend stayed here awhile back, and had a lovely room, and a great stay. At the time, it was ranked #1 on TripAdvisor for San Diego. Don't know about that, but, for the price, it is a very pleasant, comfortable place to stay.

Locals tip: the cafe is open to the public if you want to grab a coffee, bagel or sandwich and enjoy it on the patio. They also have a doggie water fountain by the basketball court.

While in San Diego, we've selected this hotel several times.  It's a great place to stay, rooms are spacious, kitchenette's are convenient, clean and well stocked.

We also love this place because you can take an early morning or early evening walk over the bridge and onto the pier.  Restaurants and shops are close by and within walking distance.

Breakfast is good, served at the appropriate temperature and tasty.

Great place for families or a quick get away with friends.  It's even great for a couple to make a quick and not a break-the-bank getaway.

We had a fantastic stay.

Pros:  The staff were extremely nice and helpful!  They have equipment that you can borrow (no extra cost) such as frisbees, basketballs, and bocce balls.  The location is very beautiful.  It's right by the river and there are running paths and plenty of green grass to play on nearby.  You get complimentary breakfast, parking, and internet access (which I thought was standard at all places but I guess not).  The rooms are gorgeous and fairly spacious too.  You have a kitchenette in the room (stovetop, microwave, fridge included) that comes completely furnished with dishes, pots, and pans too.

Cons:  All I can think of is the price of the room, but we got a great deal on it!

Like I said, we had a great stay and we'll definitely be coming back again!

We loved our stay! Everything was perfect. We loved the free parking and free WIFI. The complementary breakfast was tasty with lots of good food. The service was excellent too. When we asked for 2 cribs for our kids, they were delivered to our room really quickly. And they set it up for us too! Since we were traveling with young kids, the 1 bedroom suite allowed us to put the kids down and then close the door to our room. We relaxed and had our own space. The full size kitchen was so nice! It had everything we needed! They had a pool, 2 fitness centers, and a basketball court! I'd definitely stay here again the next time I'm in San Diego! I highly recommend it. Also don't forget to mention AAA for additional lower rates for rooms.

Nice place to stay with a beautiful location on the waterfront. We had a 2 bedroom suite with TV's in each room. Our 2 kids liked that and also having their own bathroom. Rooms are spacious and well
Insulated. We were on the 3rd floor and had a problem with noise from above with what seemed like kids jumping. Otherwise very good. They have dinner and breakfast M- Thu. Dinner had one main dish which was well made. Service was polite and excellent. Internet is complimentary but slow. Beds were standard Hilton and comfortable but I do not like the pillows. Plenty of parking. One elevator to go up which took time. Close to downtown San Diego. We did not get any noise from the airport which is right across the water.

This hotel is not too bad. The rooms are a decent size.
It's close to the military base for those that are visiting family or friends.
It's great for wedding parties or special events.

I WAS going to give this place 5 stars. It's small, spacious enough for my family, furniture is a little outdated. I enjoyed the free stuff, such as wifi, parking, breakfast, and dinner. On Saturday morning, I noticed they had a bunch of kids gathered in a room near the dining area, looked like a day care. If it was, I would have liked to have learned about that. I took off a star for the fact that the staff doesn't have their own service elevator to bring up their carts, and has to share with guests, which makes some elevator wait times very long. AND, they skipped service to our room twice, we were stuck without fresh towels and we even ran out of toilet paper. Thank goodness, the other bedroom had one more left. Then we noticed that the dishes were left in the dishwasher. Yes, I could've put it away myself but who wants to do that while on vacation? LOL not me. Next, I called down to front desk to let them know we want service to the room after we leave at 330pm. The person I spoke to said to call them after we leave. Um! Hello! I'm already telling you that we will be leaving at 330pm...so write it down and schedule someone to service the room! Daaaah! Last, upon checking out...some douchebag with no smile to offer named David checked us out of the room. I usually don't mind if people don't smile at me but the least you could do, David, is thank me and my family for choosing to stay with Homewood Suites and spending our well earned money there instead of anywhere else. But nooo, mister David is too good for my family and I, to thank. David informed me that my card on file had been charged, which I questioned, as I was not warned about before I put that card on file. I obviously wanted another card to be charged with the full amount, so I told him to reverse it. Again, he asked for my other card and swiped away, then I remembered that these reversals take a while. So I asked, how long will it take for the funds to be returned, he then states 3 to 5 business days. WOW David! Thanks for telling me after the fact that you swiped my other card again...you just messed up my entire vacation budget! How do I pay for things with holds on my funds?! Lovely, just lovely. Oh I forgot to mention that David, still didn't tell me how much I'm paying...no, he's asking for my cards and swiping away, not even giving me my balance. Of course, I asked him what it was but he stated, I'll show you after I print your receipt. Yes people, after the fact that I have made you pay for it first. David presents my receipt saying "this is your receipt",  I take it and walk out. Behind me, David is silent. By the time I get to me car, I realize that I've been too nice to David.

If I could afford to stay here every time I go to San Diego, I totally would.

After a horrifying experience at Extended Stay America, we stayed here during our business trip. Prepared to pay extra, I didn't have to. We were upgraded to a suite at no additional cost. It was BEAUTIFUL. AMAZING. PERFECT.

Our suite even had a dishwasher. It was the perfect place to relax and come back to.  Plus delicious complementary breakfast, dinner, bottomless wine and beer?! I certainly cannot complain.

This was the nicest place I have ever stayed in. Simply amazing.  Plus, Elizabeth, the woman working at the front desk was so helpful and kind to us. Thank you, Elizabeth!

Like many mid range hotels, dont go there if you actually need sleep.

I stayed at Homewood Suites 6 months, and there are many perks. My partner picked the place because of past experience with the courteous staff and free meals. However my partner worked a standard daytime schedule while I was working nights.

I informed the staff of my work schedule, and i am familiar with the issues involving a night schedule, so i didnt complain much even though there were many slip ups.

however here were common issues.

1 ) if the maids saw a do not disturb sign on the door at any point, it was free pass to ignore my room... for days on end. No toilet paper for three days? No thank you. This seemed to magically fall in the 20 minutes i put the sign up to take a shower some weeks.

2) if I didn't use the sign and just slept through the iteruptions, they would put the sign out for me anyway, then ignore me.

3 ) so i hid the sign. I can sleep through a few people trying to open the door and coming back later...

4) so obviously I would call if i went out to do chores and they had time to clean my room before my afternoon nap. This lead to no one showing up at all and repeated calls when they did show up at the time i didnt want to.

This isnt including the noise normally associated with this location and architecture.

I know its hard to anticipate every guests needs, but i explicitly told them what i needed and they blatantly ignored it.

A nice hotel pretty close to anything you want to do in San Diego.  Parking is free and there is a lot of room.  The wifi was kind of bunk.  It kept kicking me off and the connection was pretty low.  The rooms are large and have a full kitchen with a fridge, microwave, dishwasher, dishes, utensils, glasses, etc.

The bathrooms are small but have everything you need.  The TVs are nice HD samsungs with direct tv hooked up.

The gym is very small but has a decent variety if you are creative.  Same goes for the pool.

The free breakfast was pretty bad but there are a lot of different items to choose from.

All and all this place is affordable and in a good location and has everything you need to get by.

We found the Homewood Suites Liberty Station to be a fantastic value.  We had a 3 room suite and it comfortably slept 5 with room to stretch out.  The food was good and hearty both for dinner and breakfast.  The room was clean and well tended.  Best of all one person in our party left a pair of shoe.  The staff gladly boxed them up and mailed them.  This is the type of old-fashioned service you have a hard time finding any more.  Keep up the good work.
