Not wanting to spend an arm and a leg on the already over-priced NYE celebration, my friends and I opted to rent out a suite at the neighboring hotel for half the price.  By the ruckus of the young crowd from the entire hotel, we weren't the only ones with the same idea.  Granted, it was the lower end version of the Hilton three miles away, I was pleasantly surprised by all the amenities and accommodations.

We rented out the King suite that had a full kitchen and were able to cook a full dinner before it came back up in the Porcelain King.  Also, the King bed comfortably fits three. I hacked off one star because the bathroom is a bit spooky.  The lights were very dim and the doors opened backwards, which caused a lot of confusion.

If you are on a budget, I highly recommend this place.  It's also good for those business men/ women who are on long term projects.  You can have a hotel with the comforts of an apartment away from your real home.

We stayed here while some work was being done on our home... we were surprised at how much we liked the place... clean... comfortable.... nice breakfasts... ok dinners - with beer and wine... cable television... internet at no extra charge.... reasonably priced... friendly staff... my wife even had a massage at the spa and she loved it... we were not expecting much and kinda bummed about having to be out of our home while the work was being done... but on the last day... when the work was finished and we could return home... we stayed an extra night at the homewood... just because the place is so cool... all that and microwave popcorn in the rooms...

Homewood Suites is an upscale, extended-stay hotel that is part of the Hilton Family of hotels.  It seems to cater to business travelers as it's in a rather remote area with some business centers nearby and seemingly few points of tourist attractions close by.  While this is not located directly near major tourist attractions like the San Diego Zoo or Sea World, it is a great alternative to the numerous pricey hotels that are your only choices near the major points of interest.  Distance wise, only about 20 minutes to the popular Gaslamp Quarter area.

Each suite has a kitchen, a living room, and a bedroom making it seem more like a small cozy apartment than a typical hotel room.
The kitchen is small, but has a medium-size refrigeratror with a freezer on top, electric stovetop, microwave, sink, dishes, and even glass cups!  The living room has a nice desk for doing some late night work or as a place for a laptop.  The bedroom has a nice king-size bed with many pillows to choose from.   The TVs have been recently upgraded as on my last visit, they still had the old CRTs.  Now they have new wall-mounted flat panels in both the bedroom and the living room.  There is free internet access in the room, but don't expect a super-fast connection.

One minor annoyance was that there is construction on a new building on the north side of the complex.  Unfortunately I was placed in a room facing the construction and they typically started early in the morning.  Luckily I had to get up early anyway for my training class so it was a minor annoyance, but one that others may want to avoid for any future travellers choosing to stay in the near future.

Otherwise, this is an excellent place for business travelers in town for a week or more.  Likewise I have stayed here for personal vacation, and have found it an excellent place to stay with reasonable distance to major points of interest.  Highly recommended and an excellent deal for those on a budget.

We just had our daughter's bat mitzvah here this past weekend!  Several of our guests stayed her for the weekend and beyond!  What a great place!  The staff is fantastic!  Everything you could ask for, my guests received!  I delivered Welcome Bags to everyone the day they were planning on arriving, and the staff delivered them to their rooms for me before they arrived!  My family said the rooms were clean and the beds were comfy!  Mainly, I love the service at this hotel (and the Hilton Garden Inn right next door).  The Bistro is so delicious as well!  And, do I need to even mention how fantastic the Serenity Spa is ???  My out of towners will never stay anywhere else!

We had 50 adults and 85 children, and the food was fantastic!  The adults had a hard time choosing between the 3 food items we picked for them (even this was hard, because everything was so delicious during our tasting).  The children actually ate!  This was a concern because I heard that these teens come to these parties and DON'T eat!  But, they were eating up the sliders and the chicken fingers big time!

I still can't stress the staff ... to me, that is key!  Lindsey was a doll with the catering end of things... always happy to answer my questions (many of them).  Diane took care of all my guests from afar, offering them the special rate, and allowing them to have a few extra days to book.  The rest of the staff is just so friendly and will do whatever it takes to make you happy!  My kinda place!

As for the venue itself --It was so beautiful!  We had the smaller ballroom that was perfect for the teens to let loose and dance without us adults staring at them!  The lodge was cozy and homey!  And the outdoor patio was perfect for drinks and appetizers!

If you are planning any type of event, think about this venue as one of your options!  I highly recommend it!!!

Love this place.  It's not the most luxurious place in the world, but it's spotlessly clean, has comfy beds, and best of all, has a full kitchen in each suite!  The kitchen comes with everything you need, including dishes, knives, cutting boards, pots, pans, spatulas, etc, etc.  The staff is extremely nice and helpful, and even gave my baby a family of rubber duckies!  And, as an added bonus, there's coffee, tea, and ice water around the clock as well as a decent breakfast, complete with cereals, muffins, fruit, drinks (juices, teas, coffees), a waffle station, and two hot stations-- one of which is usually full of eggs and the other of some meaty product like hash or bacon and breakfast potatoes.

Since we have a very picky eater, having a kitchen is currently a MUST if we're to travel anywhere.  None of the nice chain hotels (Westin, Hilton, Hotel Monico, Ritz, etc etc) have kitchens in their rooms, which left business hotels and bed and breakfasts.  The b & bs in SD that DID have kitchens had so so reviews, and we didn't want to stay in a ghetto Extended Stay America, so we gave this place a shot and are very glad we did.

It's also centrally located within 20 minutes of all the attractions you might want to see in SD, though it's in a residential neighborhood.  We'll definitely be back the next time we're in SD.   Apparently it has an 80% occupancy rate at all times, and it's easy to see why.

Great location--close to lots of natural beauty and attractions outside of the City. Clean with all the necessary amenities. Incredibly helpful and friendly staff. Service was impeccable. Staying here made a 6 week business trip away from home much more bearable!

First of all, if you're reading this and you've never been to San Diego - stop whatever you're doing and figure out what you can spare in order to take a trip there.  It is literally the best place on the planet.

That having been said, the Homewood Suites is just a great place to be.  Very friendly staff and helpful to the point you would expect for this class of hotel.  Breakfast is free daily and they switch it up every day (bacon, sausage, biscuits & Gravy, hash, etc.)  They also do complimentary dinner Mon - Thu with free beer (pour your own from the tap) and wine.

Free coffee and ice water is available day/night in the lobby.

Pool is great and the location is perfect (right off the 5.)

Couldn't be happier with our stay.

I've stayed here numerous times and have recommended this place to all family, friends, and colleagues coming into town. Incredible service, absolutely wonderful staff, and an overall great stay every single time. I have a big issue with rooms being clean and "new-looking" and this place delivers with pride each time.

Great meals every night of the week (with booze included!) and they keep everything fresh and full so you can get your second helping. Business folk and families alike are welcome and comforted, and there is a lot to do in the immediate area although if you stay near the hotel you'll enjoy the nice quite neighborhood feel. Fantastic kitchen setup with a fridge allows for comfortable living (extended stay, for the business travelers who hate going out to eat every night) and more than enough space in the least-pricey unit.

I love the Homewood Suites chain (this one specifically) and recommend this place to everyone... feel free to ignore Eric R., as obviously some people have negative intent on Yelp...all reviews on this Homewood Suites property are 4s/5s but he gives it a 1 back in 2008? By the way, he only has three reviews total and all are 1 star... doesn't quite add up.

Lonely and bitter, anyone?

I am a big fan of Homewood Suites for business travel.  This one is so nice, I would take my family there if I was visiting San Diego on Vacation.

The location of the hotel is a bit wierd, I'm not sure how California zoning laws work but this appears to be tucked away in a mix of residental area- corporate office park kind of area.  I guess for the sake of aesthetics, things tend to be hidden out of sight in southern California and you really have to know where you're going to find some places.  Even with a GPS, finding this place took some doing.

The hotel was nice, big dining area, free ice water and coffee.  Pool area really has that nice southern California feel with palm trees and plants around it.  Room was nicely laid out and comfortable.  I like my caffiene cold so when I went to their "pantry" to buy some diet coke, the manager told me it was "on the house".  In the evening, they usually have some food and free beer and wine for guests.  If you don't feel like going anywhere, this is really a nice perk.

Only negative was that breakfast was a half hour late, supposed to have been served at 6:30 and the grub didn't get out until 7:00.  And the carpet and desk chair had some stains, no biggie.

But overall, I found the place to  be outstanding and definitely would go back again.

Our stay here was for our family vacay to San Diego. Me, my hubbie, and our 2yr old toddler. We stayed in the studio and it was the perfect size for the three of us.

The breakfast & light dinner is prepared & served well. The staff mostly nice & accommodating.

Lastly, I totally dropped the ball when I left my glasses in the room!! I realized they were missing when I got back home to unpack. I totally freaked out! I called the hotel the next AM and they said housekeeping found them & they would send it to me. I haven't got them yet, because check out what just yesterday... but THANK YOU Housekeeping!!

Overall, our 4night/5day stay in San Diego was great and Homewood Suites in Del Mar helped make it that way.

We will be staying here again when we visit SD.

UPDATE:   Thank you again Housekeeping!!   Thank you for being on the ball & totally helpful in returning my glasses & my son's lego garbage can back to our home!!  Thank you , thank you, thank you housekeeping staff!

FANTASTIC!!!  We decided to our 2009 "Mommypalooza" in San Diego and stayed at the Homewood Suites Del Mar.  From the time we checked in, the staff exceeded our expectations.  The room they gave us was near to the parking area, upgraded us to a two bedroom and we're always so cheerful when we'd come in after a full day of activities.

Clean, safe, in a beautiful suburban area but super close to the freeway and minutes from everything!  Breakfast was never over busy, wasn't run over w/ children but there were a lot of families.  Just a really nice place! Clean - we were there 4 nights and I swear they steam cleaned the carpet and chairs in the dining area every other night.

We had a fantastic time and I just had to put a review in!

This hotel has changed for the worse.  Many things it should have, it doesn't.  Then there are things it used to have but no longer does.  No pay per view movies or games.  No telephone book.  No room service.  And the complimentary dinner is hot dogs.  When I pay $224 (plus tax) for a room, I expect that these things will be in the room, and I expect more than hot dogs.  And the AT&T cellular, both 4G and LTE, was so slow it was nearly unusable (I used to get 28 Mbps LTE here but now LTE will not even connect).  I will not be back.

What a wonderful place to stay.  We usually stay on the Golf course at Torey pines, but we had our son's girlfriend with us this time and couldn't get a room large enough for all of us (4 adults & 2 kids).  I found this hotel through one of the travel search engines and was concerned because it looked like it was right off the freeway.  Well let me tell you, I will never be concerned again!!!  It started with a warm welcome late the first night after a long day at Sea World.  We strolled in about 11:30 at night and the gentleman behind the counter greeted us like we were family.  I quickly asked if the couch was also a pull-out bed and he assured me that it was and that the room was over 800 sq feet.

Upon entering the room, we were all relieved.  The room was spacious and had the 3 beds we were looking for.  The room was clean and had a full kitchen if we needed to cook anything.

We got up the next morning and I went down to get some breakfast for everyone.  I was amazed at the variety of free food that was available.  Now let me tell you something...  We travel a lot and I usually never consider the free breakfast part as there is usually 1 maybe 2 people working the entire breakfast and most items are out or cold.  Well, not here!  I counted 6 people that were working the breakfast area and all of them busting their butts ensuring that each and every one of the guests were taken care of.  I also must admit that the quality of the food was great.

I hope someone from corporate reads this...  They are doing a fantastic job here and represent your business in the utmost fashion.

Thanks Homewood staff!

Lovely little nook in the middle of nowhere. Very clean atmosphere. Hospitality was great. I loved how this place made me feel right at home. The other guests were very friendly. Breakfast was considered, "Awesome",  by my very finicky four-year old. Had a fantastic experience & I would definitely consider returning again & again!
We cooked a nice Italian feast in their well-equipped kitchen. Had coffee at our disposal, 24/7.
Went to Target prior to Sea World & never did I feel overwhelmed by the location being so well hidden.

Just love this place!  Location is close to the freeway but not so close you hear the noise.  The rooms are comfortable, well-appointed.  Upon arrival at my room, the manager had left a handwritten note, 2 bottles of water, and a package of cookies welcoming us to his property.  Noticing the need for more hangers, I called the front desk. Within 10 minutes, someone arrived with an armful of hangers, asking how many I needed. Breakfast is ample, with healthy choices such as fresh fruit, yogurt, wheat bread, oatmeal. Across the parking lot is the Hilton Garden Inn, which offers a deli and bar, which is convenient if you need that service. The property was quiet, clean, well-run.  Parking was ample.  Just overall very good.

Tremendous value. New, clean facilities. Very friendly staff.

Rooms are little tiny condos pretty much. They even include dishwashers. Beds comfortable, nice sheets!

Breakfast is a ridiculous value and very tasty! This isn't a continental breakfast. This is a full breakfast. Hot oatmeal, fruit, yogurt, scrambled eggs (today had corn beef hash), etc. Worked late in the lobby. Comfortable chairs, floor plugins, wifi (in lobby).

If they could improve one thing it would be adding Wifi in the rooms.

Simply my favorite hotel in the area. Next door is a Hilton Garden Inn, which offers a decent dinner and it is just across the Homewood Suites parking lot (they share).

The breakfast at Homewood is substantial, the coffee decent and the rooms are spotless.
Love the beds. Plenty of pillows.

Staff friendly, efficient and personable. Not my first stay here nor my last.

I came here with my teenage daughter and hubby on a college road trip, but have stayed here for business too. I get free wifi with Hilton Honors. Within minutes of major San Diego attractions and San Diego State University, but not "too close" if that makes sense. So free parking, not overloaded with people, friendly staff and good breakfast. The immediate surrounding area a bit bland, but the hotel itself is a nice place to stay while doing business or enjoying San Diego.

Helpful staff, decent breakfast, and comfortable rooms. One day our room didn't get cleaned even though we did not have the do-not-disturb sign on, but as soon as we notified the desk they sent cleaning staff up, so there's that. In the end, it's a good hotel. If I'm back in the area I will probably stay here again.

After staying here a week, I've found this Homewood Suites in Del Mar to be one of the better locations.

- Friendly staff and front desk.
- Clean room.
- Comfy bedding.
- Manager actually present at "Welcome Home Evening Reception."
- Fresh vegetables at salad station.
- Ready-made oatmeal, fresh fruit, DIY waffles, and other hot food items for breakfast.

- No daily USA Today newspaper at my doorstep. Why did everyone else around me seem to have one except for me?
- Poor to zero Wi-Fi connection in rooms. I could only use their Ethernet cable connection. This was a major disappointment.

Overall, it was 3 stars. It was a decent hotel, better than most for the price especially in the San Diego area. This hotel was great for business travelers and families.

The smallest Homewood Suites I have ever seen... usually I get a separate living room from the bedroom... for some reason, the living room, dining room and bedroom were all connected... I held my bridal shower here, and it was a little small, but it served its purpose!  The kitchen and oven and kitchen gadgets were all very useful for my caterer friend!  i'm surprised no one complained we were too loud!

Just have to give a review before we even check out.   Staying 3 nights with 2 toddlers..   The breakfast is awesome, with tasty hot food in addition to cereal, oatmeal, Belgium waffle, pastry, and drinks.

What's unusually great about this place are the week night dinners (mon to thur, 5-7pm.)     The menu alternates.   The salad station is really fresh and tasty.   The food just made it so much easier with kids.

Ice water and coffee seem to be available every time I walk by.

Room:   Suite with functional kitchen, no oven.
Roomy sitting area with pulled out sofa bed.   There is also a small dining table that is very useful.    Water pressure is good, and bathroom is clean.

Everyone is helpful and nice.   Because the guests are happy, we are also quite pleasant to each other.

The hotel is located in an residential area, short 15 min drive north of sea world.

We will be back for sure!!!!

The room was clean and spacious.  We had a two room suite which consisted of a King bed and a pull out sofa. The room had two TVs so I wasn't stuck watching what the kids were watching.  The kitchenette was a big bonus since there isn't room service.  We made a trip to Von's and stocked up on lunch food and snacks.  The kids enjoyed to pool and there are nice seating areas inside and out for the adults to hang with a bottle of wine.  The breakfast every morning was also super convenient and very good.  There was also hot coffee available in the lobby all day.  Parking was also free and traffic was minimal since this hotel is in a residential/commercial area.

I have always been a fan of Hiltons but your staff at Homewood Suites went above and beyond. I was staying there while (two weeks) and everyone at Homewood was amazingly helpful. In particular, Ryan at the front desk always went out of his way to me by name and was happy to help me with any any request. Also, another guy (I didn't catch his name) always asked me how I was doing during the meals. (A really solid breakfast buffet is included every morning and dinners Mon - Thurs) He even offered to pack me up a breakfast to go on my check out day. The rest of the staff was great too - I don't know how housekeeping did it, but they swooped in like cleaning fairies and had my room refreshed if I stepped out for 30 min.

The room were always clean and stocked, everything worked, and it felt like somewhere nice to go to (since I wasn't going home). Plenty spacious, nice amenities (full fridge, solid collection of cookware, free wifi).

Wow! So impressed with this hotel from start to finish!  We arrived at 11:00 am on a Wednesday and were expecting that our room would not be ready, as usually a hotel will make you wait until about 4:00 pm, but not so... Our room was ready.  When I say room, I mean mini apartment.  Clean, spacious, and we'll equipped.  The kitchenette had the full sized fridge/freezer/microwave/stove top.

The welcome home reception each night with free drinks and delicious dinner was so great for our little family.  A generous pour of your choice of red or white wine, and a staff member walking around the dinning room refilling your glass, or beer.  A different meal each night, each very delicious!  And then each morning a complimentary breakfast!  Waffle bar, fruit and yogurt station, and much, much more!

The most important, the staff is incredible!  Kind, cheery, and friendly!  They genuinely seem to love working there.  There was a mysterious $15.00 charge on our bill and when we asked the front desk about it, they promptly adjusted it off and were very apologetic, even though there was no need to be.

I can't wait to go back and be "welcomed home" at the Hilton Homewood Suites!!!

What a great hotel!!!  7 of my friends and a baby and I stayed here for a long weekend for a good friends wedding.  We were able to get the biggest suite in the hotel and it was perfect with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.  Everyone had a bed with 2 queen beds and a king size bed as well as the soda bed and a cot we requested.  The rooms are very spacious as we fit all of us, our baggage and a baby bed in there with lots of room left over.  The staff was very friendly and helpful.  The breakfasts were great and the BBQ on Thursday night was awesome to.

The only downside is that it is a bit secluded without much in the area in terms of restaurants or stores but everything you could need is only a short distance away.  I would highly recommend this place to anyone especially those with lots of friends staying with you or a big family!

We had a great experience (family of 5) in our Homewood Suites room. My wife and I were especially impressed with the hotel staff. Our kids loved the swimming pool, in fact they said that was the best part of the trip (not the beach...not Legoland... :)). The one hiccup had to do with our initial check-in, as described below:

We had reserved a non-smoking room. When we entered our room, it was obvious that it was a smoking room. We immediately notified the hotel staff at the front desk. We were told that all the rooms were booked for that night, but that he would arrange for us to stay in a room in the Hilton Garden Inn next door. He also had the hotel cover the cost of our breakfast the next morning at the Hilton Garden Inn. The next night we were back in the Homewood Suites hotel, in a non-smoking room. A few nights later, we got a note from Homewood Suites offering to upgrade us to a bigger room for the rest of our week-long stay. Although impressed by the offer, we opted to stay in our room, as it was working fine for us and was conveniently located across the hall from the guest laundry room.

Overall, we had a wonderful time at this hotel. We would absolutely recommend this to family and friends and plan on staying there again ourselves.

Great place to stay for family vacations. Half way between Legoland and downtown/San Diego Zoo and a mile from Torrey Pines golf course and State Beach. That's three or four things to do without much planning. They offer free parking, free internet, free breakfast and free dinner most weekdays. There's also free hot water, coffee, tea, and ice water available all day and night. There's a laundry that available for use for a couple of bucks and you can ask for free detergent from the front desk.  They also rent beach gear like chairs, umbrella and towels. The rooms are big and clean, there's a kitchen with stove, fridge, microwave, sink with disposal and pots, plates and utensils if you feel like cooking. There is a Vons nearby in case you forgot something. Staff has been super nice and helpful throughout which is great.  They setup the lobby like a lounge to eat your meals. There's also a patio and pool and spa area. Pool is open till 10pm.  It's right off the I-5 freeway for easy access.

Stayed here for a weekend getaway with my boyfriend and we both agreed well definitely be coming back. He greeted us with a smile and a complimentary bottled water. (Which I was so grateful for because I was parched. Anywho getting off topic :) upon entering the room we were pleasantly surprised to see the cute little kitchen. Even provided pot and pans!! The room was very clean and quiet. The bed was very comfy. I stayed here four nights recently when I was on a business trip to San Diego.

It's a little ways out from San Diego (about 17 miles north) and in the middle of an upscale residential area, with many biotech firms nearby, so don't expect to find anything within walking distance.  (I did find, however, that there are good running and biking paths in the area.)

One main criteria I use to judge hotels is how well I'm able to sleep at night.  This one scored well, with a very quiet air conditioner and lack of other noise.  The room is comfortable and spacious, and comes with a small kitchen.  Of course, along with that they have coffee makers in the rooms.

There's free Internet included with the rooms, both wired and wireless, and I had no problems with either.

Another plus to this hotel are the meals that are included in the price of the room.  The breakfast is decent, with scrambled eggs and another hot dish, along with oatmeal, yogurt, grapefruit, and various breads and muffins.  The dinners that they serve M-F between 5 to 7 pm are just so-so, and I wouldn't recommend them unless you're really trying to save money.

All in all, I would recommend this place if you don't mind being a little ways out from the city and are looking for a comfortable place to stay.  It's especially good for business travel.

Rooms are really old and it feels like an really OLD spring mattress. Does any hotel really use those any more? Was suppose to be here for 5 days, and will need to relocate. I have stayed in nicer budget hotels... I am so disappointed.

The mattress has stains and what looks like bugs on the edge of it. YIKES.Tried to post photos, but it would not let me.

The  staff is really nice, but for the price, it is just too old and outdated for my comfort level. I have stayed in many Homewood Suites, but this one is the worst room I have had.

So bummed, I have to move hotels, I have a lot of stuff. They told me there was nothing they could do because they are sold out tonight.

I planned an excursion to the SD Zoo and wanted a local hotel to stay there for the night. I requested an early check in that morning but the clerk stated that he was unable to fulfill the request since they had a flood the night before and didn't have availability until the normal check-in time.  I stopped by the hotel when I got in so that I could leave my luggage with the concierge before going to the zoo. They were very accommodating and had our stuff in the room prior to coming back after the zoo at 5pm.   The zoo is a fairly quick drive from the hotel, so location is ideal.
Free parking- big plus. The hotel is tucked away on a corporate street, so it's fairly quiet, but still close to the freeway.

The hotel doesn't have a restaurant or room service.  The check-in clerk, Enrique, told me about the  restaurant in the hotel next door that will take phone orders for pick up.  Unfortunately, they don't have that restaurant's (Bistro 39) menu available in the room so you have to look it up on the net.

The hotel lobby is clean and spacious.  The room itself was great, fairly standard looking, not dated or cheap.  The kitchen is stocked with glasses, plates, utensils, coffee maker, the refrigerator/freezer  is small but not the tiny type that is 2.5 ft tall.  It held all of our drinks, wine and leftovers without a problem.   We used the sofa bed for our toddler in the living room, and semi-closed the door to the bedroom for TV time.  This was one of the main reasons I chose this hotel compared to other hotels.

We took her to pool & jacuzzi, pretty busy with families at 6pm.  I appreciated that the staff brings out clean towels to the pool so that you don't have to bring your bath towels from the bathroom (only 2).

The toilet and shower/bath are in a room separated from the mirror and sink.  I didn't mind, but some people would rather have it all in one room for privacy. The water pressure is good.

Our window view looked down into the middle of the property, at the pool.  This was nice, better than looking at the parking lot on the other side.

Since the hotel had a significant flood, there were fans and blowers all over the hallways.  They had to take apart the siding of the walls so there was construction noise until 8-9pm the evening I was there.  It was kind of gross, muggy and hot in the hallways.  There were some guys that had to come into the room to ask about water damage and measure something on the wall.   I didn't mind too much, since bad luck happens to all of us.

The free breakfast was much appreciated.  They serve scrambled eggs, eggs with spinach and cheddar, make your own waffles, fruit, yogurt parfait, oatmeal with fixings, sausage or bacon (?),  tea/coffee/milk/juice that included cute plastic kids cups with funky straws.  I asked one of the service guys to bring over a high chair since I was carrying my baby, and he was really kind and helpful.

I would definitely choose to stay at a Homewood Suites again.

I rarely give five stars. This hotel did a great job. I was here on govt. travel and found the location ideal in terms of accessibility to the freeways. I had to travel south to get to my conference and it seemed traffic was heavy in the opposite directions both morning and late afternoon. A couple of exits north takes one to fantastic eateries. Hotel staff was pleasant and attentive. Hotel offers gratis breakfast and dinner too! Kitchen in suite of rooms. I had originally tried to book at Embassy Inn and Suites but they were booked and recommended this place. Highly satisfactory!

We stayed here for 5 nights in July, and were very happy with everything. The staff is super friendly, they go out of their way to help you as much as they can.
The rooms are very comfortable and clean, the air conditioning works great and is quiet.
The free dinners Monday-Thursday are excellent, the breakfasts is good.
The location is 20 minute drive from Balboa Park, skip hop and jump from la jolla beach, 25 minutes from lego land.
I highly recommend this establishment

Yes this is a hotel in the middle of a residential/office park area.  The only other hotel nearby is its sister hotel, the Hilton Garden. The hotel is nice. Very clean and the staff is super nice and accommodating. When we checked in, they even gave us a pack of Milanos. Hey it may not be much but when you're used to getting nada from other hotels, this is great!

You get free breakfast M-Su. Breakfast consists of a variety of scrambled eggs, ham, bacon, oatmeal and waffles. The protein rotates on a daily basis. Dinner is available on M-Th. Dinner is ok. Not as good as the breakfast. I've had broccoli beef and bruschetta chicken during my stay. The entree usually comes with a side like mashed potatoes or rice. You can also make your own salad. I'm not going to complain since I'm saving money by eating at the hotel. For you wine lovers, you also have a choice of white or red wine with your dinner.

I like the kitchen inside the suite. It's stocked with a full sized fridge, stove, microwave, pots and dishes.  I noticed that housekeeping washes the coffee pot because you don't get the usual coffee taste when you use the pot to make tea. You can also get dish washing liquid and a sponge upon request.  Even though you can use the dishwasher, I prefer to hand wash my cups. Especially all those mega sized cups we collected from all those theme parks we visited!

Overall, this is a great place to stay and I would consider staying at another Homewood Suites!

I ended up staying here with a few friends a couple months ago while they were doing some construction on some of the floors. This hotel is very nice and very well priced for what you get. Our room had a full kitchen, living room, and a separate bedroom. The people at the front desk were super friendly as well.

The biggest drawback is the street noise. I did find this hotel clean with all the typical homewood services.
The pool is small with well overgrown vegetation.

Homewood is doing something right when they hire and train their staff because the service was OUTSTANDING. Every single person we interacted with during our 6 night stay showed the best customer service. Special thanks to David in the dining room and all of the women at the front desk who made our stay perfect.

The rooms were kept very clean, but could benefit from some small updates. The location was easy to get to the San Diego Zoo (20 min) Sea World (15 min) and La Jolla (10 min).

The complimentary breakfast and Mon-Thu dinners were a plus for a week-long family trip. Our daughter (5) loved the breakfast options and we enjoyed the complimentary wine/beer after a long day of touristing around San Diego. I will definitely stay at Homewood Suites for another family vacation.

This place was really nice. Came here for our sons birthday the weekend of March 27th for 2 nights. Our room was super clean, fully stocked, and spacious. The kitchen is well maintained. The refrigerator and stove spotless. Their staff is very helpful & friendly. The gym is quiet and also clean. Their complimentary breakfast was good. They offer eggs, bacon, cereal, bagels, and other items.

Our room had a patio with a small table and two chairs leading to their heated pool and Jacuzzi area where my hubby and I could watch our boys go for a night swim. We really enjoyed that.

They have a comfy sofa-bed in the living room and still had some space to walk a bit!

I really recommend this one bedroom suite with a king-size bed. The prices are reasonable and its right in the middle of all the attractions. A big plus for us is that it's only 15 minutes away from Old Town San Diego. We are definitely staying here again!
