I loved this hotel! My fiancee and I stayed there for two days and nights over a weekend trip. We got pretty lucky - we had a free upgrade the night we checked in to one of their nicest rooms. The room was still fairly small but it had a lovely kitchenette and our own bathroom.

I know that the negatives for this hotel for a lot of people are the size of the rooms and shared bathrooms, but i'll say the beds are amazing, the breakfast isn't that special but it's nice and quite tasty, the front desk staff is super friendly and helpful - it's an overall a great hotel. The location is great too! Walking distance to lots of restaurants/bars in little Italy - not too far from Balboa Park or a beach either!

The only part that really sucked for us was dealing with the parking. It's street parking so it can be pretty hard to find parking spots - you may have to circle around quite a bit then walk a few blocks. That's no fun when you've had a long day but that's just something you deal with. Overall a great place to stay! I look forward to staying with them again!

We stayed here last weekend in a king room with jacuzzi tub.  The hotel itself is in a good location, although it is very close to I-5 and you can hear a bit of traffic outside (although not much.)  Parking is a bit of a challenge, but we were able to find a free spot on the street within a block or two both nights we stayed in the hotel.

The front desk staff is awesome - very accommodating and friendly.  The hotel decor is really charming and warm, although our room (room B) smelled a bit musty, likely due to the age of the building.

The bed was very, very comfortable, and the room was well-equipped with storage and space.  The jacuzzi tub and rainfall showerhead were really nice!  The lemon water, tea, and coffee in the lobby is a super nice touch, and the breakfast is excellent (great pastries!)

I would absolutely stay here again.  I am only deducting one star due to the must smell in room B and the parking challenges.  The price, proximity to India street and Gaslamp, and overall charm of this hotel makes it a great place to stay.

Words cannot describe how impressed we are with Hotel Vyvant! We were married in San Diego over the weekend and rented out the entire hotel for our guests. The guests are still talking about the wedding, of course, but who knew that a boutique hotel could be the wedding buzz 5 days later?!! Our guests were thrilled with the accommodations, friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, and proximity of the hotel to downtown San Diego, the airport, and the waterfront. Hotel staff went above and beyond (Thank you Denise and team!) for us, and answered our countless questions in the months leading up to the big weekend. My parents made gift baskets for each of the guests, which the staff kindly placed in each room before guests arrived. We also had a family member host a brunch the morning after the wedding and the hotel staff, again, could not have been more accommodating in helping us arrange for this. Did I mention the beds?! SO comfortable! Our room was super clean and well decorated. We really enjoyed the jacuzzi tub in our room (we stayed in room B)! Everything about this hotel is just precious. It is European boutique hotel meets sweet modern B&B, meets paradise. The breakfast is quite expansive for being "continental." The staff helped us coordinate taxis for folks, including reserving one for us the day of our departure at 4am. We felt safe, well cared for, and well rested at this hotel. Yes, at times the airplanes and cars can be a bit noisy, but they leave ear plugs on the bedside tables, and we didn't even have to use these (room B is right next to a fairly high traffic street, as well as the freeway, and I am a very light sleeper, to give you some context). Even though we have family in San Diego, we will probably book at least one night at Hotel Vyvant the next time we are visiting, because it was just so PERFECT! Thank you Hotel Vyvant for a fantastic weekend and for making our guests feel so "at home."

My husband and I are teachers on a two week Christmas break. We flew into San Diego on Christmas Eve and are making our way up to San Francisco for a wedding in a week and a half. Being who we are, we made zero travel plans and have alternated between hotels and beach camping.
We found Hotel Vyvant via google search and being ones to lean toward a boutique hotel rather than a chain we were delighted to find Hotel Vyvant at a reasonable price (remember: teachers) and near many restaurants.
We called and spoke with Becca who was tremendously helpful and kind. We booked the king spa room but a few minutes after we booked it she called back to say that while he was refreshing the page to add our reservation someone booked our room online. She proceeded to give us a 15% discount and provide a bottle of chilled prosecco.
We arrived ten minutes later (we were driving from mount Soledad: a must see for any out of towner) and were extremely pleased by the place. Beautiful, comfortable bedding, clean, plush towels, a lovely lobby with lemon infused water and tea at all times. All in all it has been a wonderful experience and I would suggest this hotel to anyone.
If there is one small downside the hotel while close to a very busy (and delicious!) little Italy is kitty corner to the highway and there is an underpass where we parked our car. It was dark and a little creepy at night but I'm from New York so I felt pretty safe. A few homeless people sleeping but nothing scary. There was also free street parking.

I'm hesitant to give them a review at all, because I'm very selfish and want this place all to myself.  As others have said, the beds are Cozy (that's with a capital 'C'), and the room feels like you're at someone's home.  The free happy hour in the living room with great local wines and beers and snacks was an unexpected life-saver after just spending 3 hours to get down there.  The staff is warm and friendly, and the granola they serve for breakfast in the morning must have crack in it, because I had two large bowlfuls of it....yum!  The staff said they sell it at the farmer's market 2 blocks down.
I know people complain about the parking, but it's really not that bad.  You can 15 minute park right in front to unload your bags, and let's be real; you need the walk after the big Italian dinner/3 helpings of granola/pastries/gelato or whatever else you're gorging yourself on during your stay.  I would remove maybe a 1/3 of a star rating because the sign was hard to see, and I drove past it twice.
I'll be back.

my 3 year old daughter and i stayed at hotel vyvant on dec. 27, 2012.  john (the owner) and kaitlin were the KINDEST hosts.  i arrived at the hotel flustered after getting passing the hotel and getting onto the highway and going 40 minutes out of the way.  it was late and my daughter had fallen asleep in the car.  kaitlin patiently stayed on the phone with me giving me directions until i arrived at the hotel again.  kaitlin told me where to park.  then, she walked out of the hotel to help me with my bags so that i could carry my sleeping daughter into the hotel.  kaitlin went above and beyond to take care of our needs.  i can't say enough wonderful things about kaitlin.

the next morning, john apologized to me.  he was sorry that the sign wasn't clear.  how sweet of him to apologize and make us feel so welcome.

the hotel itself is gorgeous.  it is just the kind of hotel i like to stay in....clean, independent, quaint, hard wood floors, wonderful staff, delicious breakfast.....breakfast choices were high end pastries (chocolate filled croissants, freshly baked fruit muffins, etc, yogurt, and an assortment of juices.

i can't wait to bring my husband with us next time.  we wouldn't think of staying at any other hotel next time we're in san diego.  there is a true personal touch that you can't find at big, commercial hotels.

thank you for treating us with such genuine kindness.

We couldn't sleep at all while staying here. There was noise from outside, noise from above, and noise from the room next door (even though they told us we had a quiet room). Our room also got no natural light and no fresh air. The shared bathrooms were fine and there are some nice touches, but not enough to make up for the noise problems.

Great hotel with a B&B feel, friendly staff, super clean, and the most comfortable beds ever. Parking was easy to find (at most 30 yards away under the bridge). The friendly service is what puts this place over the top. You can walk to some really yummy food spots in Little Italy just a block away. Central to all modes of transportation (planes, trains, and automobiles). All-in-all a great place to stay for a weekend getaway in San Diego. I'd recommend Hotel Vyvant to anybody that is looking for a clean and welcoming place to stay.

So here is a quick summary of our experience with the staff and our hotel stay.  This hotel has such a great feel to it.  It's super clean and warm and the three girls that work there are just amazing.  Ahsley, Odette and Bekah were very sweet and you could tell that they loved their jobs.  They helped get us a cab and offered to help us with anything that we might need during our stay.  The breakfast was great and they even saved us two pastries since we were too lazy to wake up before ten the following morning.  The granola and complimentary breakfast was delicious and we couldn't have asked for anything more!  Too bad we had to nap and missed their happy hour, but we will catch it the next time we visit San Diego.  We will be back for sure.....thanks a million  :) Their customer service is outstanding and the way they treat their guests was superb! The girls spoke wonders about the owner as well and that says a whole lot to me. :):)

Hotel Vyvant is an excellent hotel within a superb location.  The hotel is walking distance to just about everything a tourist cold ask for.  More importantly, a friendly and helpful staff that I'd consider the best customer service in little Italy.  Fridays and Saturdays there is a complimentary Happy Hour for guests from 5pm-7pm.  The Continental breakfast is from 7am-10am and is simple, yet tasty.  I'd recommend this place for a younger/older couple, someone on a business trip, or a family looking for affordable pricing.

John is our new best friend!

We reserved the hotel for our wedding guests two weeks ago and it was hands down the very best decision! From the moment guests arrived, John and his staff made our family feel right at home. Each room was met by a handwritten note inviting any needs to be voiced and a bottle of champagne to start the celebrations.

The hotel became our home for the week of wedding festivities. There are no less than two dozen instances where the staff went out of their, in the most hospitable and kind way, to make our stay memorable. We baked wedding cakes, crafted decorations, held family meals, passed around babies, and made lasting bonds in the rooms of this cozy hotel.

Some of the crazy, kind, hospitable and generous things this hotel did for us, off the top of my head:

- Lent us two pack-n-plays from their personal home for the newborns
- Lent us a personal grater for wedding cake making
- Opened a suite with an oven for baking and craft making
- Inquired about favorite beers and wines for a lovely happy hour
- Assisted in ordering take out food for 10-20 people each night and supplied all the accouterments!
(Even ran out to pick up a forgotten item one night too)!
- Lent us their cake stand for the wedding (and knives for cutting)
- Put out a delicious spread of the finest yogurt, pastries, and coffee each morning
- Supplied us with directions to anywhere and everywhere we wished to go
- Treated us like family, literally!

This was the best experience outside of a personal home that we have ever had. We had the freedom, space, and beautiful environment to share sacred moments as a family together. Our sincerest gratitude goes out to the Hotel Vyvant Team - some of the warmest people this world is to know. THANK YOU.

I feel bad about writing this review so late in the game. However, all I have to say is WOW! My boyfriend and I stayed here for our 10 year anniversary the weekend the hotel was changing from Little Italy to Hotel Vyvant. I want to say that even in the midst of the transition, one wouldn't know it could have been a possibly high stress time for the business. They were so incredibly welcoming and warm... I am of meager means on my own, and the trip to San Diego was to be a surprise for my boyfriend on our anniversary weekend (a fact I had informed the very very nice manager on). Upon arrival I couldn't believe the economy room I had booked had in fact been upgraded to something simply fantastic and luxurious. I was in such utter shock when I walked in that I had to do a double take at the girl who ushered us in... she simply winked at me and pushed up a thumb to indicate that it wasn't a mistake and they had in fact bumped us up for our very special occasion, with a bottle of champagne to boot! I have never stayed in nicer accommodations, and don't expect I will again anytime soon. With a wonderfully clean setting in a very walkable area I don't doubt the success of this little gem. When the time came I honestly didn't want to leave, it's like a little home away from home to be sure. The only concern I had going it was with it being so close to the freeway, and possibly noise issues that could go along with something of that nature. HEARD NOTHING! This place is sealed good and tight for a restful sleep in a clean comfy bed. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience, an anniversary we will never forget... again, i'm only sorry it took me until now to get this out to anyone else who might need some input. If you're thinking of staying, don't think twice..... just do it!

My husband and I stayed here for a mini vacation.

Pros: very cute and clean, great location walking distance to great places to eat and the harbor. The happy hour was nice with many different wines, beers, and cheese and crackers. Great price for the accommodations and the great location.

Cons: we were instructed to park up the street and under the bridge it was kinda far and awkward as we walked past a homeless guy trying to nap. There is no privacy and you can hear everything. The cleaning staff was also super loud in the morning so no sleeping in.

Not sure if I would be back but it was a great experience overall.

1ST OFF, IT IS A BEUTIFUL BUILDING, THE YOUNG LADIES AT THE RECEPTION DESK WERE NICE, BUT that night, it just so happened that another guest on the same floor as me (and other guests attested the same as well) that they heard VERY LOUD banging and slamming of doors, once at 2:15 am, 345 am, and then around 4am so i was JOLTED out my my sleep 3 times in the same night! I was very upset, and they let me check out at noon instead of 11 or whatever, but I had a business meeting that day, and I was dragging due to no sleep! I paid over $120.00 for that single room that night, and I told them the next am, and they said other guests had reported it too, it just happened that their room was directly next door to MY room! so I got it the worst! I was told that the next time I stayed, they would put me in a "nicer room" and after 4 weeks of being told I would get a partial refund and didnt, the owner got in touch with me finally, he told me I can have a free nights' stay in the future due to the inconvenience, so I am still inquiring to see when and If i can redeem their offer and try them one more time! then i would give them a higher rating..its just good business, other than that, i have no complaints..the granola that they give you for breakfast is DELISH!!! the breakfast was very good! so i want to give them another chance! I hope they contact me! I am willing to be wonn over, and if so, i will edit this review

I booked this hotel off of an app and was a Bit worried when I saw there was no on site parking. When we arrived at the hotel we soon learned the parking is seriously no problem what's so ever. The staff is amazing! They make your stay worth while! Everything here is so nice and clean and has such a personal touch to it you really feel at home. Our room was upgraded at check in so that was really nice to. We stayed in room H with a jacuzzi tub in it. They offer so much even water bottles where free which is a pleasant change from paying 4 dollars in the middle of the night when you are so thirsty! The breakfast was awesome! They get there pastries from a local bakery so that's very nice to! Stay here you won't regret it!:)

I chose to visit San Diego without the use of a car. That meant I took the train from LA and used Uber when I wasn't walking to the places I needed to visit.  Hotel Vyvant in Little Italy was perfect for me. It is located just a couple (easy walking) blocks from wonderful cafes. The rooms are not your typical hotel rooms, which is both good in that they are clean, comfortable and out of the box in unique design and perhaps not so good in that some are noisy. Once I got moved away from the street things were good, because the hotel is located just off the freeway... But the replacement room was much quieter.  The continental breakfasts are fabulous... the pastries hip widening - coffee strong.  The staff is friendly and accommodating. Their TV's are ridiculously small & 1980's - and this is something they could change...NOW, even if I can get movies on my iPad - I prefer a larger screen.  Yes, I will go back.

All I can say is WOW! They took great care of my husband and I. We went for our Anniversary and I don't regret it at all. Clean, quiet, friendly staff, walking distance to Little Italy which was a plus! WE got so much rest and relaxation while there we can't wait to go back. Our room had a Jacuzzi Jet tub that was awesome!  and the Bed was nice a comfy! Street cleaning day was a bit noisy at like 2am but they provided ear plugs which allowed for us to go right back to sleep. If your celebrating an anniversary be sure to tell the staff when making your reservation you just may get a special gift inside your room! I know we did ;-) Thanks Hotel Vyvant Staff!

love love loved staying here!!
it really is the cutest little hotel with the nicest staff.
it's really easy to pass this place on the way - i circled the place and accidentally ended up on the freeway the first time, but after you figure out where it is, it's easy to get to.

i was worried about the parking since there is no on-site parking, but it really wasn't bad at all.  when i checked in, i parked at a 2 hrs zone and then at night, parking spaces right under the bridge opened up.

when we first arrived, i was worried it was going to be loud inside because it was so close to the freeway, but as soon as we stepped inside, i was proven wrong. it was dead quite inside and we couldn't hear any of the commotion going on outside. the decor inside is precious & very quaint. the hosts were super chill and laid back and very thoughtful. when i agreed to buy the overnight parking pass, she suggested that i wait to see if parking under the bridge opens up to save me money. it really showed that she was genuinely thinking of the customer first!! the snacks and treats that were out for the guests were also very nice and well presented.

i will absolutely be coming back here! I can't wait for my next stay :)

We decided to have a mini honeymoon before the honeymoon here, and we couldn't have chosen a better place to start our new lives as a married couple.

The staff was nothing but nice to us, always informative, friendly, and handled everything in a professional manner. India Street was a walking distance, the rooms were very clean, cute, not to mention the spa.

If we were to have another staycation, or have friends/family come to San Diego, we would without a doubt recommend this lovely hotel.  :3

Hotel Vyvant was a lovely place to spend a night! We arrived right at the end of happy hour, but still got to enjoy some snacks and delicious local craft beer and wine. Then walked to little Italy for drinks and dinner. Lots of bars, restaurants, even microbreweries (Ballast point) within walking distance. Bekah was friendly and helpful upon check in as she showed us to our room and helped us find parking down the street. The parking was a little sketchy since you have to walk across a freeway onramp and the parking itself was under a bridge with some people loitering. My only other minor complaint was that the shower head had a small leak which sprayed straight up and landed continuously into my eyes. Pretty minor and in hindsight I probably should have told them upon check out so they could fix it for the next guests. Overall, a wonderful (and affordable!) place to stay! Will be back next time we make a trip to SD!

So there we were, driving our rental car around Little Italy looking for this "Hotel Vyvant" when we finally see it, all cute looking, sitting right on the corner of Grape and State. "Aww, it looks so quaint", but we see no parking and surely must have missed the lot. Cue to ten minutes later where we've been up and down Grape Street and State Street five times each looking for the parking. And herein lies the only reason I can't give the five stars I seriously want to give... when I'm on vacation I do not want to park under a bridge next to the passed out homeless guy... I'm sorry, I just don't. Everything else was wonderful, the staff were charming, the room was cozy, the location was great. We loved our stay here and even made some new friends at the all you can drink managers reception thing, which served up some incredible brews... and we will come back, I just wish they had a damned parking lot.

From the second we walked in to right before we left the customer service was AMAZING! Hotel Vyvant has such a warm welcoming atmosphere, it's like you've never left your home! My husband and I stayed in the king spa room and we loved it! Spa bathtub was amazing! Little Italy is an amazing place and you're within walking distance of just about everything you need! The only two minor things I could say was our room wasn't cleaned after the first night, no new towels, bed wasn't made, etc. And lastly parking was HORRIBLE! (Not the hotels fault) We parked under the bridge but since transients sleep under the bridge I recommend parking on a side street. I highly recommend if you get a spot, DO NOT MOVE!

I usually don't go out of my way to write a review but wow does this place deserve one. A hotel has never gone so far above and beyond than here. Shoutout especially to Denise at the front desk who was simply in one word: Amazing. She definitely deserves a raise! :) ... The room itself was very cozy and even had a kitchenette which was wonderful for keeping drinks cold and late night tipsy cooking after the concert. Lastly you must must must check out the complementary pastries out in the front. My best friend couldn't stop eating them. I think we ended up eating a whole box of chocolate Danishes by ourselves (whoops ;) ). Overall we had an amazing time and would definitely love to stay there again.

I recently stayed at Hotel Vyvant, located in Little Italy, San Diego, for one night and I had an enjoyable experience! Staff was extremely friendly, patient and appeared to enjoy working there. My reservation was originally for 3 nights, but I had to cancel 2 nights, so I emailed them 3 days before as instructed in earlier emails and they promptly sent me a confirmation letter. No fuss. No attitude. I stayed in a room with a queen sized bed and shared bathroom. The room was a bit small, but clean and even has a sink. In the room, I found plenty of towels, a bath robe and fancy toiletries. The spacious bathroom was shared with just one another room, so it wasn't much of a hassle. In the bathroom, I found more towels and fancy toiletries! The complimentary breakfast was not the average offering of bagels, muffins and orange juice from costco. I got to enjoy delicious pastries from a local bakery, chobani greek yogurt, local coffee and granola fancier than the stuff you can find at Whole Foods. The hotel had a couple of outside sitting areas that were comfortably furnished with wicker chairs and pillows. Most of the time, I would be craving to go home after a night or two spent in a hotel, but I was sad to leave this hotel after one night. I would definitely come back again to this little sweet retreat. The price was also very reasonable for the summer season.

Note: the hotel does not provide parking, so you will have to make do with street parking. Finding street parking becomes more difficult later in the day, but you should be able to find one within walking distance from the hotel. The hotel is right next to the freeway and adjacent to the arrival path of aircrafts landing at San Diego Int'l, so the outside lounging areas can be noisy, but the windows are well insulated. Interrupted sleep by noise should not be a problem.

My husband and I have stayed at the property for years through it being Little Italy Inn to becoming the Hotel Vyvant. Overall the transition was very smooth and I did not notice many changes at all and they still remain to have amazing staff.

Meaning, we still love to frequent this property when we want to beat the heat from Arizona. Its prime location for being downtown and near the harbor. It has some amazing coffee shops for breakfast right around the corner. Also Extraordinary Desserts is within walking distance which makes me happy!

Overall the rooms are cozy and great for leftovers because the kitchenette rooms have mini fridges. It is a nice play on a B&B with a hotel feel. The happy hours are great.  And if you love morning cup of coffee, the back courtyard is basically taking you on a virtual trip to Europe.

The staff is always super accommodating to us. We tend to arrive late due to driving in from Phoenix. And they always go the extra mile and stay up late for us.

Its a great spot for the 20-30 something couples that are going out for a romantic weekend or older for a weekend getaway. It is very centrally located so it is prime for seeing everything SD has to offer.

I highly recommend staying at this property!

A group of my gal-pals and I stayed here this weekend.  The location was a little weird for the driving and parking part - I was looking for the hotel and ended up back on the freeway!  So 10 minutes later, when I finally got back to where I was supposed to be, I had a very hard time finding parking.  But once I did, it was free for the whole weekend, and I didn't have to worry about it the rest of the trip.  (A valet person would be so helpful at this hotel! Or even just a dedicated curb spot to check in and drop off/pick up luggage.)
It's in a great location for walking around Little Italy, and if you're really ambitious, walking to/from downtown.
Once inside, the hotel lobby was really pretty and comfortable.  It's done in such way that it almost looks like you're walking into a spa.
The room was very comfortable and private - we stayed in a suite that was downstairs with an outside entrance.  There is a private bedroom with it's own full bathroom (no bathroom door, though, which was very weird), another bed and a small couch in the living room area,  a walk-in closet and a second full bathroom, and a full kitchen.
The bed in the living room was SUPER comfy, but the bed in the private room needed a little help -- it felt a little "dippy", like the mattress needed to be turned or something.  And the sheets on that bed were really old, so they had this rough, yucky feeling to them. Those sheets just need to be tossed out.

We noticing a lot of little things, like holes (giant and small) and scratches on the wall, or a scratch on the painting in the bedroom, that would take very little effort to touch up and make nice again. The window blinds are wood, and a few of them had broken wood pieces and/or wouldn't work when we tried to turn them up or down (again, very little effort to fix, but it would make such a big impact).  The cabinet in the bathroom off the living room was hung at a slight angle, which drove the OCD in me crazy (there were a couple of light switch covers off-scew as well)...

On the plus side, it was great having breakfast in the morning, and the wine/beer tasting were awesome!  That was such a fun little detail!  Most of the staff was super friendly (there was one girl not-so-much, but she was only there for a few hours, so it didn't matter much)

Hotel Vyvant is a small boutique hotel that treats their customers like big time royalty! The place is super clean and comes at a bargain. Its walkability is one of its best features! You're close to a lot of great restaurants and bars in Little Italy. The area has really changed quite a bit, for the better. Although it's close the airport and highway it's remarkably quiet. I got a great night's rest on the beauty rest mattress. If you like quality but don't want to shell out $$$ this is the spot for you!! Oh, and did I mention they have a free happy hour with craft brews from 5-7p? You're welcome.

This place was great! I threw a surprise birthday party for my girlfriend at Ballast Point and this was the end destination. The crew at Vyvant was very helpful and made great accommodations ! The shampoo, conditioner, soap and lotion is organic and worked magic and miracles on my hair and skin. I recommend this place for anyone wanting to stay in Little Italy !

My boyfriend and I booked this hotel for a special birthday celebration for me, and it was such a great stay! The decor is gorgeous, hip but not pretentious, chic and well-designed. The staff were amazing and ridiculously helpful and sweet. The continental breakfasts were amazing, as was the delicious coffee! Our room was a bit small for the 'spa king', but the overall hotel was very small. (Also, I had never stayed a boutique hotel before, so I learned something new! But DON'T let the size of the hotel deter you from staying here!) I thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and it was a nice walk to a bunch of nice SD attractions. Parking is great, we left our car all weekend in the same spot in a residential neighborhood only a few blocks away, and it was free! The front desk also gifted us with a bottle of champagne since it was my birthday, and handwrote me a card, and then gave us a bottle of really yummy blood orange soda once I mentioned to them that I don't drink alcohol. So nice!

I would have given it 5 stars, but I gave 4 because I was pretty disappointed that we had booked the wonderful spa king room, but the front desk never informed us on how to turn on the hot tub... we tried to turn it on, but had no idea there was a reset button that needed to be activated in the closet. I was really looking forward to it, and by the time we tried it out, it was already too late in our stay to figure it out. (It was our last night there, and the front desk had closed.) Seemed silly to spend the money on a luxurious room when we weren't given instructions on how to use the hot tub.

BUT, it was truly a wonderful stay, and the Hotel Vyvant is a lovely place with some lovely staff.

Love love love this cozy little nook. Very friendly service. Rooms were clean and very well maintained for an older building. The decor was perfect as was the continental breakfast. Great selection on beer and wine for happy hour which was also complimentary. This location is the perfect spot to get away if you're just flying into town and want to take a walk around little Italy. Literally moments from some of the best spots in San Diego and just seconds from the freeway. I would love to stay here again even as a resident of San Diego it's just too cute not to. It books quickly especially because of the great rates and the hotel tonight app. If you're thinking of staying here I would hop on it ASAP.

Enchanted. Hotel Vyvant is a gem. The rooms and the building are charming and unique. Each has a special quality. The location is great and there are many activities and restaurants in the neighborhood within walking distance. Also, it is close to the I-5 and the airport. The staff (Denise) are so friendly and helpful. I've stayed in a lot of hotels in San Diego, but none of them had the class and value as Hotel Vyvant. I can't wait to go back and bring my wife with me to this great hotel!

Thanks Vyvant!

From the moment we booked our room the customer service was top notch! I am from Las Vegas(dont hold it against me) where the hospitality industry bar is set. Rebecca, Connor & Denise have raised that bar in my mind and could teach the " big guys" a thing or two. At check-in we had a slight hiccup with our room and it was immediately resolved within a timely fashion and ended up being a bonus for us. As far as the atmosphere of the hotel it felt like we were at a friends place and the layout has a B&B in San Francisco feel. On Saturday there is an amazing farmers market just a couple blocks away that is quintessential So. Cal! They supply the amenities you would expect at a large place like breakfast and a happy hour out in the beautiful patio..The rooms are stocked with all the necessities and extremely clean.
I'm already looking for my next excuse to visit San Diego(which shouldn't be difficult with a girlfriend that's a Chargers fan).

This is a review of the customer service and their deck that was used for a bridal shower I attended today! This hotel is such a hidden gem I wish I would have known about it sooner!!! Everyone at the front desk was so nice and accommodating. I can't even begin to tell you how cute the deck is, look forward to planning the next event here! I peeked in one of the rooms the bride to be was staying in--adorable! The pictures don't do its justice. I would recommend getting a room with a bathroom, there are some rooms with a communal bathroom--if you are into that sort of thing! Great venue!

This place is awesome!  The staff is super friendly, the location is a few minutes walk from Little Italy, and the rooms are really nice.  It doesn't look like much from the outside but the inside is very well put-together and beds were very comfortable.

They provide pastries and fruit in the morning.  There is a patio out back that is a good place for happy hours or hanging out with a group.  Only downside of Hotel Vyvant is that not all rooms have a bathroom - some share a common bathroom.

Overall our stay at this place was good. The hotel being within walking distance to so much was definitely a plus and came in handy. Since there is no parking with the hotel, driving anywhere and having to find a spot each time would not have been ideal, so we parked where we could find a spot and walked to as many places as we could, or just got a cab.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room was nice, but it wasn't anything glorious either. We opted for a room with a private bathroom which is highly recommended. We had a view of one of the small patio areas which was fine because we didn't spend much time there.

Being right by the freeway and so close to the airport with planes flying over head often was a bit of a bummer. We were able to sleep without the aid of the provided ear plugs for the most part though. I unfortunately was waken early every morning by the sounds of the other guests in the building or by the ceiling fan light which would turn on randomly in the middle of the night.

We didn't partake in the breakfast or happy hour as we were either coming or going during those times, but it's great that they offer it.

I'm not sure that we would stay here again, but it was a decent place for the weekend.

I absolutely loved staying at this hotel! The location shocked me a little from the outside, it's at the top of a hill and right next to the freeway and it didn't even look like a hotel. But once we found temporary parking we went to check in. Bekah was so sweet and helpful at the front desk. She explained everything and showed us to our room (spa king). Once in there she showed us how the jacuzzi worked and everything else in the room. The room itself is pretty small but I loved the room. It reminded you of being home, not a hotel. It was very comfortable and cozy. We didn't attend the free happy hour by the hotel that night but we did attend the free breakfast and it was so good! It was very quiet in the hotel I had no complaints about loud guests or being the room right next to the freeway. I will definitely stay here again for a little romantic escape to San Diego.

It's right at 5 exit/entrance and Grape St has continous traffic even at night. If you're really sensitive about noise, you may need to call instead of using the Internet to book a room. Mine was right on Grape St and I was fine with the noise. I was annoyed by lights at night but my two sons were having fun chasing the lights and seeing cars through windows.

Two blocks down walking, you'll be in little Italy.
7min drive to Balboa Park.
6 min drive to downtown seafood restaurant.
Blocks away from the ocean.
Blocks away from the airport.(You'll hear airplanes)

I got there on Friday afternoon but did not have hard time finding street parking.

I booked a room with three beds at around $200 with tax, only a few days before my arrival. At first, I thought it was alright since I booked very close to my trip but it turned out that it's actually very reasonable. They have complimentary wine/LOCAL beers with cheese and a few other things during happy hour(5pm~7pm) and also complimentary breakfast with a few pastries, fruits, yogurts, and cereal.
Our family usually eat breakfast all the time, so this complimentary breakfast saved us(family of five) a good portion of our expense.

In our room, they put four complimentary bottles of water which we used for coffee in the morning.

I booked a room with two double, one queen, kitchenette and a full bath. Microwave and refrid were heaven as I have two young boys. I brought their food from home and had to warm them up before we go out, so Microwave helped me a lot. Also I bought a few stuff from 7/11 near the hotel and put them in the refrg, and it was also very nice.

Now, BED that everyone is talking about is heavenly.
My parents loved them so much that they undo bedding to check the mattress :)
I pushed double beds to one side to make a huge cal king size for my boys as beds are really high. I was concerned about falling in case. Then I kinda got stuck in between two beds during the night yet it was comfortable!
Linens were crispy clean with fade scent of detergent although there were pillings on them. It actually helped me to feel like I'm in a relative's house not a hotel. lol

Another aspect of the hotel that I really LOVED was it was converted from an old huge mansion or something, so it just looks like a house. I hate smelling carpet right after getting off evelator from huge hotels, and this hotel has hardwood floors throughout. It is really homey feeling. I felt so comfortable that kept forgetting closing our door!!!

And there were a couple of vacant rooms on 1st floor that I stayed in, and I glimpsed on them. Each room has different look and they were all very thoroughly decorated.

When we arrived, Behka came out of the hotel and helped us moving luggages.
My younger angel threw up when I got out to check in first(because he thought I'm leaving him behind) and I'm sure it smelled pretty bad. But Behka was helping us until we get into the room with huge smile on her face.

We purposely booked this hotel because we wanted to stay in little Italy.
I was yelping but ,with two young hyper angels and older parents who can't speak English, I have lots of limitation when it comes to dining place.
Bekha gave me a map with her suggestions, and she was right on!

Then, we checked out and went balboa park.
My mom noticed her Chanel sunglasses were missing.
Kelly Ann answered the call and she promised to notify their housekeeper to look for it. Never heard from Kelly Ann again.
Went to the hotel after balboa to see if they found it. Behka varified my phone number again, and we had to leave.
Fortunately for us, the guests found my mom's sunglasses behind the microwave (Exactly where my mom guessed) and returned it to the front desk, and Behka sent my mom's beloved sunglasses yesterday.

I have not received the parcel yet, but oh boy, they really did elevate our experience.

I'll definitely re-visit the hotel for its location, bed and their service if I go to San diego.

I got a deluxe suite with a kitchenette for a saturday night and the price wasn't much higher than the best western options in the immediate area. The hotel is beautiful, i should have looked at the photos first because i was expecting a suite to have a bedroom and then a sitting area/fold out couch but it's a queen bedroom and then two twin beds in the kitchen area - would be ideal for a family of four.

We were invited to a happy hour in the gorgeous courtyard at 5, where there was pita and hummus, cheese and crackers, and some local craft beers free of charge. I think we were supposed to pour a glass from the craft beers but we grabbed a bottle each and killed them because we don't know how these things work, sorry.

The location is nice, we walked down to the harbor, walked back up ash to get dinner, and walked back at night to a great night's sleep. Planes are landing overhead but it's actually really quiet inside until some badass on the world's loudest motorcycle cranked it getting on the freeway at 3am. Oh, if you're driving here and coming up grape street, stop before you get to state street because you can't turn right and then you're on the I-5 again and your wife is upset.

The only bad thing i have to say is that the shower curtain has mold spots all over it.
Easy fix.

Fifth star added because owner/manager apologized about the curtain during checkout and also took responsibility for it. Thought that was cool.

Hotel Vyvant met and exceeded my expectations! My husband and I stayed for four nights at a very reasonable price considering all the little extras like complimentary breakfast, bottle water, Keurig single serve coffee and tea, happy hour wine with cheese & salami. Street parking was not a problem and we were informed on where to park due to street cleaning. Location was a few blocks from many restaurants and coffee shops in Little Italy.

The only thing I want to pass along is when you're on Grape Street, stay on your right hand side and when you see a sign for Hwy 5 S freeway entrance, slow down as Hotel Vyvant is at the corner which you don't want to pass or else you'll end up on the freeway. There are many green zones that you can park while you check in.

Staff is really friendly and helpful.

HEADS UP: After reading negative reviews complaining about parking, I wanted to address it. This place has AWESOME parking for Little Italy/downtown San Diego. If you're complaining about it, you obviously don't live here, and don't have experience parking in metro areas. Period. When you can find FREE parking within a few blocks with no time limit in this area, thank your lucky stars!!!

Here's the rest of my review: We had an excellent experience at Hotel Vyvant over 4th of July weekend. We stayed in a private room with shared bath. Prices were very reasonable, and the included amenities are all outstanding. The location is fantastic - within walking distance of all Little Italy has to offer, but close to un-metered street parking.

We thought Hotel Vyvant was almost identical in ambiance to the bed and breakfasts we stayed in during our honeymoon in Italy. The room was small but nicely decorated, with a comfortable upgraded bed. The shared bath was stocked with free toiletries over and above the usual hotel stuff (makeup remover wipes, shower gel), and the granite shower with rainfall shower head was lovely.

Complimentary breakfast between 7-10am included pastries, fruit, coffee, juice, yogurt and granola. There is also happy hour on the weekend on the adorable patio. The happy hour included a variety of finger foods (cheese, salami, crackers, hummus, etc.) and awesome local wine and beer (Belching Beaver! AleSmith! Mother Earth!). The staff regularly came out to refill the food and beverage options - this is not a one free glass of cheap wine kind of happy hour. Even the other guests were great, and we had pleasant chats with them during happy hour.

Finally, the staff were all very friendly and accommodating during our stay. The service is really outstanding. Everyone was so nice to our dog Sammy (awesome that this place is dog friendly!). When they found out it was our one year wedding anniversary, they brought us a bottle of complimentary prosecco. We had nothing but a positive experience here and will be back for our next staycation!

Exactly what I was expecting in this hotel. Their advertising and website was true. A lot of places make their company seem better than it really is. Especially hotels in my experience. Bekah emailed me earlier in the week in response to one of my requests. This was the first time I've ever got an immediate response from a hotel. When we arrived she was there to greet us snd check us in. Very helpful and really good attitude. Our place was clean and comfortable. The room felt like staying in a friends or relatives home. It was just what I wanted. A very unique setting and I loved what the hotel looked like throughout. Breakfast was great and the granola was the best I've had. Great place for you and your gf/bf to stay at.

Booked my room last minute using the hotels tonight app and got a ridiculous rate. I figured that there had to be some sort of catch with a deal this good, but I was surprised to find that there wasn't.

From the time I checked in until the time I checked out the staff was super friendly and accommodating. The hotel is in a very old building that has a sense of character and charm. The common areas and rooms are clean and well maintained at all times. I would definitely recommend staying here if you're looking for a low key place to stay with friendly staff and a laid back atmosphere.

My gf and I stayed here this past weekend and the reason I give them 5 stars is because of how they handled our situation. We booked our room due to the fact they had a jacuzzi tub, but unfortunately it didn't work during our stay. So they were nice enough to give us half off our room and 20% off next stay. The place is cool and we will definitely go back and use that tub!

I love it here!!! Booked through booking.com and found a great deal for my first visit to San Diego.  Great value for the price.

Location: Little Italy (Downtown)
Excellent location that is 15 min drive away from airport, La Jolla, Gas Lamp, and Pacific beach areas.  The hotel is literally at the corner of the (freeway) 5 so it's easily accessible.  The only downside is that you do need to find parking around the neighboring blocks.  Hotel does not provide lot and there is no public lot nearby.  However I was able to find street parking within 5 min of looking every day during my Friday to Monday stay.

Ambience: boutique-cozy
The lobby area is small but super cute and well-furnished.  Fruits and lemon water is on standby 24/7.  Coffee, tea, small breakfast complimentary.  Happy hour with cheese plate, craft beer, and decent wine all included on the daily in the lobby.  If you need an outdoor moment, check out their cute little garden.

Staff: very very friendly and accommodating

Room: very clean
My friend and I ended up with a queen sized bed that has a "shared bathroom".  So the deal is our room shares a bathroom with another hotel room.  Bathroom w/ shower is located 10 ft outside of our room.  We were skeptical and got the college feel all over again as we showered in our flip flops.  With that said, it wasn't bad at all!!!! It was very clean, well equipped with all toiletries, and still private.  The other room was vacant so basically it was just my friend and I.

I would prefer to give it 4.5 stars due to not perfect parking but they make it up in other areas for sure.

Overall I would stay here again, but I don't feel like I can give it more stars. There were things I really enjoyed and things that made it a little difficult to fully enjoy.

Pros: The staff was super friendly and accommodating.

The hotel itself was really cute with little nooks of tables and chairs to enjoy your free breakfast.

Free breakfast! Yogurt, croissants, OJ, milk, coffee and granola to choose from. Gluten free and vegan options if needed.

Fun location in Little Italy and close to a lot of fun touristy stuff you can walk to.

Cons: The floor was filthy. I stayed in one of the Urban Flats and the floor looked stained and also made our feet black if we walked barefoot in no time. I like that there wasn't carpet and instead wood flooring, but since it was so dirty it didn't matter.

The noise. The airplanes were pretty loud but the trucks on the street and walking and voices from other rooms were even harder to ignore.

Parking sucks. We lucked out and got a spot a couple blocks away but we were scared to move and walked everywhere on our vacation.

The first thing I noticed when we walked into our room were black long hairs everywhere on my bed and in the sink which were clearly not mine. Not a germaphobe but I could see other people having an issue with it.

There are scratches, furniture marks and dings all over all of the walls. Very minor, but something I haven't experienced in any other hotel I have stayed in.

Their website said they don't accept cash payment, which is how I would have preferred to pay.

My wife and I stayed here on our honeymoon for three nights. It's not your standard cookie cutter hotel. The rooms all seemed to be somewhat unique in design and setup. So if you're looking for a change of pace from a corporate hotel, I definitely recommend Hotel Vyvant!

Complimentary bottled water and Coffee in room
          SUPER comfortable bed
          Friendly/Helpful staff
          Complimentary continental breakfast
          Steps from: Little Italy/Restaurants/Nightlife/Waterfront/Trolley
          Reasonably Priced

Not so Pros:
          No Elevator
          Street Parking

Overall, we had a great experience, and will certainly stay again next time we're in SD.

We landed in San Diego last Friday night around 7pm... needless to say there was no parking anywhere near the hotel because of restaurant crowds.  We walked inside to find out if the hotel staff had any suggestions on where to park.  She literally walked us outside and checked one spot which was taken, then pointed across the street to another spot and said "you can park right there!"  Ok great- so we did.

Hotel staff was very nice, hotel was clean although our room did smell like cat pee.

However, when we got up the next morning and found a $300 parking ticket on the car rental, we weren't exactly thrilled.  Had it been $50 we probably would've just paid it and not said anything, but $300 for a spot the hotel staff TOLD us to park in??? Ridiculous.

We showed the hotel staff the ticket, and they felt really bad and mentioned they know they've paid guest tickets in the past, so they would ask the hotel manager and get back to us.

The reason for the 1 star review, is they did, absolutely nothing.  They didn't even offer to pay half.  They actually said when we checked out that the manager was going to get back to us later that day... they did not.  We called and talked to them for 15 minutes the next day to no avail, they would not offer anything ,and the manager never called us directly.

Even offering to pay some of the ticket would've been the right thing to do.  We were in a city we didn't know and took the advice from the hotel staff on where to park.

So to sum it up, we are pretty pissed off that the management will not take responsibility when their own hotel staff cost us $300.  So although the staff was very nice and felt bad, the management did absolutely nothing.

Love love love this place. From the moment we walked in we were greeted by Bekah who had awesome customer service. We checked in a bit early and our room wasn't ready so she upgraded us. She showed us to our room upstairs, such a warm welcoming. Inside the rooms there are complimentary water bottles and coffee via the keriug machine. The rooms are quite small but cozy, great for a couple nights. The location is close to many restaurants that are in walking distance. And yes the parking  stinks but that's everywhere downtown!
The breakfast served in the morning is such a nice touch. Yummy granola, yogurt, pastries and orange juice. Definitely would return.

I wanted to give 5 stars but the lack of parking, and the ability to find parking on a busy street knocked it down to 4. Otherwise it's a great hotel, offering more than many hotels and reasonably priced for the area.

We stayed in Room C. At first I was apprehensive because I saw earplugs and thought it would be noisy since it's near the lobby, and the airplanes flew above. It was actually pretty quiet. Even the outside noise wasn't bad, if you close the window.

My disappointment in room C was the tv was tiny! My computer monitor at home is bigger. Also cosmetic things like unfinished paint, chipped paint, chipped tiles were annoying. Lastly the bed squeaks! Like boom chicka wow wow squeaky!

Otherwise the hotel offered a lot. Great happy hour from 5-7, complimentary beer, wine, cheese, hummus, crackers, teas... Excellent!

Breakfast was continental but ample! Danish, granola, muffin, juice, coffee served 7-10.

There's plenty of places to sit and relax.

Little Italy's restaurant row is 2 blocks away, and Bencotta restaurant was amazing!!

Thumbs up, highly recommended.

We didn't want to drive all the way back to Los Angeles after coming down to San Diego to visit the Museum of Man, so my girlfriend and I decided to spend the night in town. Somehow, she found this gem of a hotel in San Diego's Little Italy neighborhood.

When we arrived, I noticed two possible problems: There's no private parking lot, and the hotel is close to being right under the flight path of jets landing at the airport. But finding parking on the street wasn't too bad, and the occasional aircraft noise didn't bother me as much as I feared. They do provide ear plugs in room, if you need them.

As we checked in, the staff was setting up Happy Hour, which takes place from 5-7 PM on Fridays and Saturdays. They offer locally-produced craft beers, wines from the Temecula region, salami, cheese, pita chips, crackers, and very tasty hummus. After dropping our stuff in our room, we went to help ourselves to these complimentary drinks and snacks.

We stayed in Room C, which is on the first floor, close to the lobby. The room is nicely decorated and furnished, and the bed was very comfortable, although squeaky. Which may or may not be a problem for you. On a related note, there's a large, beautiful mirror positioned just right, directly in front of the bed (nudge nudge, wink wink, say no more ;-)

Although there's a fan above the bed, the room also has a heating and cooling unit mounted on the wall next to the bed. The remote control for this unit was a bit confusing, but with the help of the instructions in the binder we eventually figured it out.

The room is also equipped with a Keurig single-cup coffee maker, with K-Cups for both coffee and tea, and complimentary bottled water to use in the machine.

One nice little touch is that there are five or six books on a shelf at the end of the desk, in case you need reading material. If you'd rather play with your phone, tablet, or computer, there's free Wi-Fi, which works well.

My only complaints about the room is that there was noticeable wear to the tops of the nightstands and the desk, spots on the walls where the paint had been scraped off by one of the chairs, and the television is very small. Although a high-definition flat-panel, it is probably about the size of a 17-inch laptop display. Before we left the hotel I took a walk around and found that most rooms had these small televisions; one had an even smaller unit, an ancient tube television!

The common areas are all very attractive. Happy Hour and breakfast take place in the lobby, which has a large table, a couch, and comfortable chairs. The hallways are beautifully decorated and have more comfortable chairs where you can sit to read or just relax. There's a somewhat bare courtyard in front of the hotel and a much nicer patio behind the hotel, with plants and a fountain. However, there's no pool or spa, if that matters to you.

My girlfriend remarked that she didn't want to move the car, fearing that we might not find a parking space again so easily, so we had dinner in Little Italy. The main drag, India Street, is just two short blocks from Hotel Vyvant, and there are plenty of places to eat within walking distance. We choose Bencotto, which was great.

Breakfast is included at Hotel Vyvant, served 7-10 AM. It's continental, so there's no warm food. They serve croissants, danishes, and muffins from Bread & Cie, and awesome Safari Crunch granola. There's also Caffe Calabria coffee, tea, milk, soy milk, juice, and assorted flavors of Chobani Greek yogurt.

I can't say it's as good as it gets, but I'm definitely a fan and hope to stay here again if I ever have the occasion to visit San Diego.

I needed a room early August and after seeing the prices from the other San Diego hotels, Hotel Vyvant was the best choice.

I needed to reschedule the room and the staff was kind and quick to communicate with me via email. They were even kind enough to let me know that the only other rooms available was the Spa King Room and an Urban Flat. I went with the Spa King Room because it comes with a nice and clean jacuzzi tub.

Even before my stay I was impressed with the staff for their straight forward communication, but when we arrived they were even nice enough to show us to our room. The hotel has a happy hour that serves local beer and wine and breakfast is simple with great coffee from a local roaster (Dark House Coffee Roasters) located around the area. The room comes with full amenities like wifi, an ironing board, blow dryer, and make up remover. There were some hiccups in the paint and wood, but it was still clean and quaint. There's a closet and chest, so there's enough space for your things.

Located off the freeway, next to the airport, downtown San Diego, and Little Italy, you're destinations during your stay is easily accessible. Be mindful of where you park and have patience to park on the street (on Sundays parking is free). Once you park, everything is Little Italy is walking distance.

So what the reviewers say about the employees, location, clean rooms (quaint), breakfast, B&B style, etc is all good and accounted for...

There is no parking provided but there is street parking available, but I can imagine for multiple nights of stay it may be quite cumbersome.

However, we barely got any sleep because all of the NOISE from the FREEWAY and the AIRPLANES landing all through the night, we were in room (V), so unless you brought yourself some earplugs you are going to have a lot of trouble having a deep slumber. And we both consider ourselves very deep sleepers. My husband had to turn on the bathroom fan and A/C to try to drown out the sounds from outside. It may be because our room was located facing the street, so if you stay here i HIGHLY recommend you ask for a room that is faced away from all the madness.

If you are looking for a quick night stay before a business meeting (which was our case), or a quiet oasis away, I would not recommend it. It was definitely one of the better deals though in the area when we did our last minute search, which is the only reason we booked it.

Clean, intimate, and high attention to detail. From the moment you walk in you are greeted with a beautifully decorated "lobby" that feels more like a family friends living room filled with plush couches, lounge chairs, communal dinning table, and even a little bar set up with hot tea, water, and other amenities offered to all the guests.
Every aspect of this hotel just really impressed me. I have never stayed somewhere that has felt so "homey". Everything from their daily Happy Hour that they host on the outdoor patio with music, complimentary local beer, wine and little appetizers for guests to snack on- to the breakfast set up in the lobby with fresh brewed coffee, fruit, granola, and juice each morning... You honestly feel like it is your home away from home.

The location of Hotel Vyvant is amazing- every morning I woke up with friends and walked into the heart of Little Italy to grab some breakfast and to explore some of the great spots nearby. Can we also mention the fact that the hotel is walking distance from Stone Breweries' tasting room, Ballast Point's taproom, and Bottle Logic? Not to mention awesome restaurants like Craft & Commerce, Kettner Exchange, Underbelly, Prepkitchen, Ironside Fish & Oyster... Trust me the list could go on and on and onnn

The one negative thing I am reading in the comments is Parking. I have stayed here twice and parking has never been an issue? There has always been multiple spots up the street from the hotel and the their staff allows you to remain parked in the 30 minute unloading zone until you are able to find a spot for your car that you are satisfied with.

Amazing bargain for the quality of service & great experience this hotel provides- If you are visiting San Diego for leisure, business, or for a family visit I highly highly recommend Hotel Vyvant. Five stars and it reallyyyy deserves it.

During our one day stay in San Diego we received no better hospitality than at Hotel Vyvant. From check-in to check-out the staff was very warm and welcoming.
The small room that was assigned to us during our stay was so cozy and the AC had it cool all day to beat the San Diego heat. It was perfect!
This hotel resembles staying in a relatives home. Everything is set up like a big house. The entrance is like a living room or dining room area. The outdoor patio was set up nicely, it looked relaxing and soothing. The hallways and everything else make you feel as if you're wandering a house.
The homey vibe at Vyvant was undoubtedly the favorite part of our stay. It was a great place to spend the night and it's located in San Diego's Little Italy which personally I loved more than any of the other neighborhoods. The only inconvenience I can think of are the shared restrooms. Basically, you'll share a restroom with the adjacent room, so you'll get to use it when it's not occupied. Luckily, every time we needed it no one was using it, and no one really ever needed it when we were using it with an exception for once.
We were able to book this room through booking.com ; they had a one night stay for $120. Keep an eye out if you're ever interested in staying here. Definitely don't forget to check out their weekend complementary happy hour for guests. We unfortunately did not get to try it but I would have surely enjoyed some free beer and wine. Oh also, parking can be a hassle since they have no private lot. So once you find a spot, it would be best to leave your car there or you'll be driving around looking for a spot every time you return.

I will say right off the bat that I agree with all the positive things that were said in the other reviews - the staff here is really friendly, and the hotel is very beautiful. The pictures don't lie. I'm going to jump right into the cons so I don't waste your time with this review.

Bathroom - my boyfriend and I had to share a bathroom with another room. Seriously?? What is this, a hostel? I didn't even think to ask if we had a private bathroom when we were booking, since I've never heard of a hotel doing this. One night I had to wait for over an hour to use the bathroom because the other guest was taking a bath or something. Super annoying.

Noise - I didn't think I was bothered by noise until my stay here. The hotel is on a 4 or 5 lane street and is literally a stone throw from the I-5. On top of that, planes are flying directly overhead all the time. It was hot and stuffy in our room, but we couldn't keep the window open at night because of the noise. The ceiling fan was incredibly noisy as well and would make a loud "clunking" when we turned it on. We ended up using the AC at night since it was the least noisy of the 3, but the noise of the AC + the noise of the street leaking in through the closed window still drove me nuts and I slept poorly my first night there. Our room also shared a wall with the shared bathroom, so if the other guests decided to shower, we could hear it.

Room - the room was tiny. It had a bed, a counter, a nightstand, and that was it. No tables, no chairs, no mirror (this was an issue since the bathroom was shared), and the closet was tiny as well.

Parking - basically what the other reviews said. Finding parking here is a pain in the ass, and the surrounding streets have street cleaning some nights of the week, so you have to be careful where you park or you'll wind up with a ticket.

Overall, our stay here was okay, but I expected better for the amount we were paying, and I definitely would not stay here again.

My girlfriend and I did a one nighter and she found this cute little boutique hotel on grape st. It was a small bed and breakfast hotel and I loved the home sweet home kind of feeling that I got when I was there. Our room was pretty spacious and had a nice kitchen with a fridge. That's always nice because we can chill our alcohol and save whatever food we bring home. I didn't like that the bathroom was way too small and we had to do our makeup using the outside mirror. But other than that I really like staying there.

Had the good fortune to discover Hotel Vyvant via its stellar reviews on Yelp! It's to find hidden gems like this that Yelp exists.

Spacious, comfortable, quiet *economy-priced* room, excellent granola, coffee and baked goods for breakfast, great location - and the most charming, professional, helpful, responsive staff I have encountered in a hotel at any price in a very long time. Life and work don't often take me to San Diego, but there is absolutely no question that, when I return, I will stay at the Hotel Vyvant.

Wonderful friendly staff, delicious breakfast. The beds were very comfortable, I forgot the freeway and airplanes were right there until opening a window or walking outsude, its not that bad unless you're sensitive to it honestly.
Stayed in a Spa King room (B), and the tub was great. The jacuzzi on makes some noise, but its very relaxing being in there. If you mess up something just hit the reset and all is normal.
Try the granola! It really is fantastic. We ended up actually asking about it and got some baggies of it, which made me very happy.
The Little Italy area is great, take advantage of it. Great restaurants in the area.

We decided to stay at this lovely hotel for a few days whilst visiting San Diego and THIS PLACE IS GREAT! AMAZING, WONDERFUL. Our expectations were completely met and then exceeded.

Let's begin with the accomidations. The hotel is BEAUTIFUL! It has a really warm homey feel and everything is kept so clean. Breakfast is served every morning in the lobby which was lovely and they have a complimentary beer/ wine/ appetizer mixer in the lobby every Friday and Saturday from 5-7 (which was also lovely). Our room was amazing. We stayed in L which is a corner room. It had great light, hardwood floors and soft, comfortable linens. I read several reviews where people commented on how loud is was due to the fact that it is located next to a busy intersection, and a stones throw away from the airport. But we had no issues with it. I'm fact we slept with the windows open every night (i find the city noises soothing) if that proves to be too much for you all the windows are double pane and cancel out the city noise beautifully.

The staff! Everyone we met was so friendly and helpful. We were celebrating our anniversary and the staff welcomed us with a bottle of champagne and a really thoughtful card congratulating us which was a really nice gesture. Totally into that type of stuff. The entire staff was amazing and they will make your stay that much better

Location, Location, LOCATION!! -Little Italy has to be one of the most ideally situated areas in SD. It's about 5 min from everything which made it really easy to get around and back to the hotel at the end of the night. The area is removed from the hustle of downtown and is completely riddled with amazing Italian food restaurants, cafes, steakhouses. Everywhere we ate was amazing and within a few blocks of the hotel which had me is complete foodie bliss.

Overall this trip was a 10/10 and we will definitely be staying here again.....sooner rather than later.
