We were in town with our 6 & 8 year olds for a trip to the San Diego Zoo.  Jill checked us in and seeing that we had requested a bottom floor because our boys can be somewhat loud, she not only met our request but she also upgraded us to a suite.  Much better fit for us!  She also gave us a call after we had settled into the room to see if everything was alright.  Great customer service!  The pool was heated and the jacuzzi was gloriously hot like a jacuzzi should be.  The room was comfy and clean, but could use a little upgrading like earlier Yelpers mentioned.  I haven't seen a CRT TV in a hotel room in a looonnngg time.  The breakfast was the best part.  You can order your favorite omelette from the omelette station, there are all the usual suspects (pancakes, oatmeal, fruit) as well as miso soup, rice, and pickled plums.  Now THAT you won't find in most hotel breakfast bars.  This was the first time we've stayed at a Hyatt House and it won't be the last!

The Hyatt Summerfield Suites, I'm extremely disappointed, especially with the name it carries, Hyatt;  I would rate this place as a 1-2 star ratings max!
1) When I checked in, I asked for the 4th floor 2 weeks in advance, when I checked in, they claimed the hotel was booked. Apparently they lied, the parking lot was only at 50% full, maybe...  In the past when it was the Woodfin Suites, they always put me in the 4th floor.  2) the breakfast which is included has gone downhill... they use cheap products, therefore the scrambled eggs, don't even taste like eggs. The sausage taste like cardboard AND don't even get me started on the coffee! Although it's free... I rather buy breakfast from Starbucks, at least I know the coffee and breakfast is top quality.
3) The  towels they provide for showering look like rags that I use to clean/mop my floors.   I do get a discount, however  I'm considering looking at other similar Suites, this place in my eyes has become a DUMP!!!

The hotel is now officially Hyatt in name only.  I predict that very soon Hyatt is going to catch on that this hotel is damaging their reputation.  The staff does their best but they have been instructed to use a catch phrase when they have no way of giving you the quality care that you deserve..."we would love to do anything possible to make your stay more enjoyable but we are all out of ..."

They overbook their hotel even though they know that they do not have the ability to provide good customer service at such capacity.  They promised someone in my party a one bedroom suite and, even though confirming the day before arrival, they had oversold so they did not have any available.  They stuffed her into the tinest room known to man and then they used their catch phrase.  My recommendation is to get their early in the day to guarantee that you get the room that you reserved.

I was lucky enough to get a one bedroom suite which is overall a good value.  Three separate rooms are the kitchen/living room, bedroom and bathroom.  The decore is dated with ancient semi functioning TVs and kitchen equipment.  The size of the one bedroom is big enough for a blow up bed and the living room has plenty of space as well.  The only reason that this hotel gets two stars is the size of the room, the free wifi, the free parking and the low cost.  You get what you pay for but be ready for that and you will be ok.

The pull out bed barely fits two small children.  I asked for a rollaway bed because the pull out was too small for both my 6 year old and 9 year old.  I got the catch phrase...apparently this hotel believes that Hyatt doesn't want to provide rollaway beds as their standard policy so this hotel does not have any at all.  At least that was the story that I got from the maid...

I checked in at 1:00 in the afternoon after getting there for early check promptly when it is supposed to start at noon. They ran out of pillows so they could not provide me with an extra even though I called them within 15 minutes of being in my room. Instead of new pillows...I got the catch phrase... They ran out of towels...I mean what kind of hotel runs out of towels and admits it?  At least I got the catch phrase again...

The exercise room is a total joke...no treadmill...an ancient bike and an eliptical machine that was laughable.  It was not clean because there were no towels to wipe up the sweat...yuck...

The pool was not a normal full size and, although they say that it is heated, they are full of it because it was freezing.  This situation causes everyone to end up in the jacuzzi which was filled with kids to way over capacity and you know what that means...you are basically in a big non flushing toilet...

The staff did their best as they had multiple families very upset with the conditions of the hotel.  I believe that the staff are quality people but I could tell that everyone was a little upset with the catch phrase.  The hotel needs to re-evaluate how many guests they can accomodate at full capacity and purchase extra towels, pillows and roll aways.

Living in Las Vegas, staying at extravagant hotels and being awed by spectacular rooms is something not out of the ordinary.  It's when I leave the confines of Sin City, that I become confused and scared as to where I will be laying my head.  Hyatt House not only impressed me, but has made me a fan of theirs for all of my future trips!

Let's start with the positives shall we?

The service:  Uhh-mazing!  Being a manager in retail, I preach and am taught that customer service is the most important aspect.  I am believing this more and more, especially when it comes to traveling.  The staff was top notch.  After flying and driving I was quickly helped by a worker named Jill.  She apologized for having to wait to check in (was not even 2 minutes, but wow!  Thank you!).  Not only did she check me in fast and efficiently, but she also took the time to find out where I was from and why I was visiting San Diego.  That might not seem like a big deal, but for me, it will always be the little things that separate a good experience from a GREAT experience.  After I made myself comfortable in my room, she called to ensure that everything was okay and if there was anything that I needed, she would be at the front desk.  Again, the little things.  Whether it was part of her job to do that or her going above and beyond, please continue this because future customers will appreciate it.

The room:  Full kitchen.  ENOUGH SAID!  Fridge, microwave, stove, toaster.  REALLY?  LOVE IT.  They even provide a service where if you want to cook, but don't have the time to shop, they will go to the grocery store for you.  Again, the little things.  The room was only for my girlfriend and I, but it easily could sleep 4 with the couch having a pull our bed.  The room also had two TVs, a balcony, and two closets.  The bathroom was clean.  Even if it wasn't, it looked clean, and let's just say, I have walked in to some scary bathrooms so this was definitely a plus!

The other stuff:
FREE WiFi.  FREE.  You are also able to use it on multiple devices and have it until you check out.  THANK YOU Hyatt House.

Continental breakfast was superb.  More than just hard boiled eggs and cereal.  Hyatt House gives you several cereals to choose from! :) Eggs were hot and scrambled.  My plate also had country fried steak, biscuits and gravy, fruit (watermelon, honey dew, pineapple), and a bagel.  LOVELY.

Free parking.  In Cali? Whaaaaa.

Not a perfect 5 star? But why???
Location.  The only reason I say that is because this hotel is more inland than I would have liked.  I spent most of my weekend in downtown SD and at the beaches, so being a little closer would have been nice.  BUT!!  The longest commute was 15 minutes to downtown SD which was nothing so don't worry people, it's not that big of a deal.

In this instance, the pros outweighed the cons by a long shot.  Stay here and I promise you will not regret it!

Stayed here cause there was a special for a really good price. It's a decent place to stay for a nite with free breakfast. Very clean and tidy. Huge rooms and bathroom. A bit old fashion with the big TV and decor.

Huge thanks to the banquet staff at Hyatt House. They helped us pull together a plan for the post-memorial service reception for a loved one, and they took a huge load off our shoulders! The manager was super helpful, friendly, and FLEXIBLE! She accommodated our needs quickly and we didn't have to worry about a thing.

It's hard to rate whether this Hyatt House was a 2-star vs 3-star.  Reason being is because we stayed here for 5 weeks due to water damage at our home.  Because we were there for a long period of time, I'm guessing I was over it by week 3 and just wanted to be back in my home, hence my 2 star rating.  For those who are staying for the short term, this place rates a 3-3.5 star easily.

Pros:
*Great customer service.  You ask for more towels, they are there within 10 minutes.  No questions when applying back credits to our Hyatt Gold Passport account.  Friendly housekeeping staff.
*Parking is plentiful, during all times of the day or night.
*Very clean, although the wing that we were staying had a musty stench to it (in the hallways only)
*No hidden fees.  Very up front with the cost of your stay.
*GREAT selection of their daily hot breakfast buffet.  They offered a variety of choices: omelet station, oatmeal + fixings, breads, fruits, cereals, yogurts.  They also catered to their Asian clientele with Miso soup, rice, tofu & seaweed.
*Easy access to the freeway.  Less than a 5 minute drive the 805/5 freeways, which for tourists is great when getting to Sea World, the Zoo, or Legoland.
*Large rooms, full kitchen, a bedroom that was separate from the living room, comfy mattresses.  Flat screen TV that was maybe 40"?
*Lots of restaurants and/or grocery stores nearby.
*Community Washer/Dryer available for your convenience.

Cons:
*Although friendly, I noticed that housekeeping rarely vacuumed, or cleaned the toilet (4 year old boys don't always aim very well!!).  Mirrors weren't wiped down, neither were the counter tops in the kitchen.
*Bathroom tiles were cracked in certain places, which made a loud creaking noise when you stepped in the wrong spot.

Overall, would I recommend staying here?  Most definitely if you are looking for a clean & convenient place to stay that stayed within your budget.  Great for families with kids, visiting  San Diego.  I think Hyatt has a good thing going, with some minor improvements in housekeeping & maintenance!!!

I booked this hotel 3 months in advance when it was the Woodfin suites hotel.  I booked a suite room with a kitchen (with a fridge and microwave) and separate living room.  When I called to confirm my reservation the day I was coming, I could tell they were confused and had lost my reservation even though I had my confirmation #.  So after waiting on hold for 15-20 minutes, they said they found it. When I get there, I had to wait around 25 minutes because there was only one girl at the desk and a family was complaining that they booked a suite but they were all out of suites.  *Big props to the girl at the desk because she did take a lot of crap from that family.  When it was my turn they gave me my room, but when I went in...no suite. =/  I went down to tell them and I think the woman was so stressed out she just told me to wait and she'll find one.

Anyways, the room was very nice.  King size bed, full living room with a dining table and desk.  Good size bathroom.  Everything seemed clean.  They give you complimentary toothpaste.  My only complaint about the room was that my sheets had A LOT of tiny pills on them.  They felt very old and worn out.
(****I would probably give 3.5 stars for the room)

When it came to the breakfast...thats a whole different story.  It must have been a bad weekend to be at the Summerfield Suites because they could NOT accommodate everyone for their continental breakfast.  Plates kept running out, food running out, not enough bus boys, lines were kind of long, and not enough seating.  When I finally found a table, it was filled with old/dirty plates that I had to bus myself... =/
I even over heard one of the managers telling another worker to refill the cereal and he said to her, "but theres so much other things to be done". (I'm guessing like, putting out bowls to GET the cereal)

All in all, I think because of the switch of hotel management/ownership they are extremely unorganized and very understaffed when it comes to busy weekends.
I suggest wait a little longer to book this hotel when they get settled...or come during the weekdays.

Biggest plus: Plenty of free parking and free Wifi

Check-in process:  Fast and easy.  Fumi was the staff who checked us in and she was nice.  She provided a business card in case we needed anything.

Room:  Spacious, condo-type living.  There was a living room area with a flat screen tv and then another flat screen tv in the master bedroom.  Spacious washroom.  The hotel was quiet and sleep quality was excellent.

Air-conditioning:  Quiet and functioning

Breakfast:   Hot breakfast with a varied menu every day.  There was a calendar in our room complete with a list of breakfast items to be served for each day.  The breakfast was at the hotel restaurant.  On the first day, we had  scrambled eggs and sausages.  On the second day, there was bacon, mixed ham and egg, sausages and pancakes.  There was an attendant who looked after the tables.  There was also hot oatmeal in a pot and brown sugar and nuts available. There were freshly cut fruits as well.  I really loved the pancakes.

Internet:  Wired and wireless internet that was free for guests.  Decent speed.

Parking:  Free for guests

Elevator:  Our room was on the fourth floor.  We had to swipe our room key in the elevator in order to gain access to that floor.

Other:  We tried out their gym facility.  It basically had one bike and one elliptical only.  There was one yoga ball.  There was also a tv in the gym.  It was a below average hotel gym.

Overall:  A lovely hotel stay overall in the San Diego area.  I would stay here again.

The stay here has been nothing but pleasant.  The staff is nice and helpful, the room is freakin' huge and come on complimentary breakfast!  I would definitely stay here again they have a lot of amenities that I have yet to use and I've been here for a week.  The only reason I'm rating this a 4 out of 5 is cause I actually have no idea what the rates are because my company is paying for the hotel. Regardless I would stay again just because of the great service.

Hyatt Summerfield Suites is now out favorite hotel for vacation. We love the kitchen and they have new sets of utensils too. They are good quality and not cheap stuff. We were there for New Years vacation and decided to try Hyatt for first time. It is at least 40 minutes drive to Legoland but we save $30 if we had stayed at Hyatt in Carlsbad. Overall, we had great things to mention
- We check in at 8 pm and it was quick.
- Staff was very friendly and helpful
- The room is clear and spacious
- Free breakfast and great selections
- It is 4.5 stars since it has great location to downtown San Diego, Lajolla and
Legoland. I am not sure how far it is from Sea World but location is great for us.

I would have given 5 stars if they have LCD TV in both the room. We look forward to book Hyatt Summerfield again next time. Kudos to the friendly staff at the morning breakfast and making sure, the food are replenished fast.

I don't know why this hotel only has 3 stars. It should at least have 4! When my boyfriend and I checked in, we were greeted by a friendly front desk staff. They were quiet but up beat! Which is fine because I wouldn't want them yelling in my face haha.
Anyways, a section of the hotel was being renovated which was fine with us. We never heard any noise.

So I was surprising the boyfriend for the weekend for Valentine's Day for a mini vaycay! Well when we first got to the room, it felt like a cubicle... It was just the standard room with a queen size bed, a bathroom, and a window.... Boyfriend didn't like it, he said, "It's either we go big or go home!" So he went downstairs to see if we could upgrade. I stayed in the room to relax. He comes back 10 minutes later to get me and said to grab my stuff... We went down the hall and made a left... He takes out a new key, swipes it through, and we're looking at our new room! He upgraded to the King Size bed with a living room, and a nice little kitchen with a bar top! The room was very spacious and breathable. We also had a patio that overlooked the pool area and courtyard... There's also palm trees everywhere so there is some privacy. We were on the 3rd floor so it we were up there pretty high and made the view a lot nicer... The upgrade was soooo worth it!

We also had free wifi; when you check in, you get the code to log on.

The next morning we went to their complimentary breakfast buffet. It was pretty decent for a small hotel and the amount of people that stayed there that weekend. I work at a high end restaurant so I had to really lower my standards, but they were definitely met. My boyfriend's perfect breakfast is french toast, eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, fruit, OJ, and coffee.. You know, the whole package. They had it all and a little  more. They also had cereal, oatmeal.. They had a great selection of fruit. Their coffee was ehh, bussers' service was slow. We had to clean off our own table when we were ready to sit down.

Not gonna lie, we would both come again.

This place is absolutely fantastic!!! Jill thank you for that warm welcome after a nightmare of driving around for a "reserved" room!!!! I cannot believe the amount of space you get for the price you pay. They even have a mini market in the lobby so you dont even need to step out in case you need something! Excellent location, away from noise, traffic, whatever else!!! Our suite next to the waterfall was absolutely perfect!!! Very new and modern look in all areas of the hotel including the bathroom..EXCELLENT SHOWER!!! I was so satisfied with our stay, the next day I had to call and thank the manager. Even the security guard went out of her way to take care of us!!!!! I mean talk about hospitality!! The entire staff was very friendly and went the extra mile to keep us satisfied!!! Thank you Hyatt house...we'll be seing so soon!!!! Keep up the excellent work!!!

this place is really really nice! I am on the road a lot because that's just what my job entails and I'm a hyatt loyalty member as well. The rooms are really spacious but it's not on the vegas level type hotel if that's what you're aiming for. It's got a nice little kitchen and old school tube type tv's! All you need are some working channels, a nice bed, and room! Hyatt house does this and it feels kind of a like a little home away from home.

I normally stay downtown at Andaz  but since Hyatt house does allow for pets, this may have me reconsider.

The wifi is pretty slow, but just as bad as any business hotels like Hampton/Hilton or Holiday Inn chains, possibly a tiny bit faster, but not good for remote desktop for sure.
Standard room is small, but bed is comfortable. Carpet smells rather stale, but all the amentities seems to be not too old.
Cable TV has plenty of channels and the gym is decent too. Tried the salad at the hotel restaurant, I got a spinach salad, it's pretty standard, but the chocolate lava cake is tasty.
The best part is breakfast--they have miso soup, rice, Japanese pickled plum and Chinese fermented bean curd! WTF, I'd never seen a hotel that has that for free breakfast except for when I was in China! It's pretty epic.

Staff is helpful, not super enthusiastic, but not rude either. It's a truly neutral attitude staff.

Reason for visit: Needed a place to crash during race weekend
Visit date: November 10-11, 2012
First time? Yes.

Let me start off by saying that I have enjoyed every Hyatt hotel (Regency and Place) I've experienced. Hyatt House, well, this is another story. This is my first stay at a Hyatt House so I can't speak for all of them. You get the same great comfy bed and PILLOWS (I love these pillows!) as all other Hyatts, with the addition of a mini kitchen and living room. The decor and furniture could definitely use some Hyatt upgrades, but what really bothered me was the smell! The lobby was just fine, but once you went upstairs the hallways (and our room) smelled like armpit. If you don't know what armpit smells like, open up a bag of chili cheese Fritos. I'm not sure if it's their carpet cleaner, or (awful) lingering food smells, but it needs to be taken care of. My dad immediately started brewing some cofffee, not to drink, but to fill the room with a pleasant smell. Other than the smell, the room was clean and there was plenty of room for four.

Note: I completed a survey at the end of my stay and the manager responded with gratitude and said they would take care of the smell. I hope they did!

I'm a Hyatt guy and have stayed at various properties throughout the country.  The two other Hyatt House properties I have been at in Salt Lake City and San Jose were very nice with large spacious rooms that were quiet, clean fresh decor, carpets and drapes and just an overall good vibe.

This property is undergoing a renovation which is much needed.  I was initially placed in an older room.  The hallway reeked of what smelled like a mix of sewage and curry and the room didn't smell much better.  The carpets were well past their prime and very stained and frayed.  The walls were scuffed, nicked and in various stages of patches and paint.  My room felt very small and had the same frayed carpets and patchy, scuffed walls.  The bathroom was old and dirty and the vent sounded like an old V8 engine running on 2 cylinders.  Also missing was the usual fridge and microwave I expect at a Hyatt House.  After half an hour in my room I was getting nauseous from the smell.  Another reviewer mentioned the smell in a review from Nov. 2012 so 5 months wasn't enough time to take care of it apparently.

I went to try and switch rooms and there was one room left in a recently renovated area.  The new room itself felt much more spacious with the closet removed for a larger bathroom and more space in the living area. The desk, tv and closet are now combined in a single built in unit which works well.  The bathroom is much better with a new vanity with a backlit mirror, new tile in the shower and new fixtures to go with it.  Better yet, no sewage/curry smell.

Unfortunately all of this is still marred by a lack of attention to detail.  The brand new hallway carpet was dirty with drywall debris and paint.  The walls had blue tape in areas, the paint was blotchy and the trim was sloppily painted.

In the room dust was on every surface, the door closer mechanism has a half inch of dust on it.  They kept the original door trim without bothering to fix the nicks and dents.  The baseboard was dirty.  The tub in the bathroom was the same old fiberglass tub I saw in the other room.  They kept it and just replaced the fixtures. There is still masking tape on some areas of the tub.  There is dark brown grout stains on the walls next to the tub and the floor tile is still dirty and scuffed.  The vent fan still sounds like a V8 engine running on half cylinders.  Not to mention the hair stuck to the walls in the bathroom.  One last thing... lighting.  There is one light at the door, and then one light on the desk.  There is no other illumination in the main room.  I ended up moving the desk lamp next to the bed so I could have a chance of reading even the buttons on the tv remote much less a book.

Hyatt, get your shit together.  You can put lipstick on a pig but it will still be a pig.  This place is in need of new management.  I expect better from you.

I'll admit, at first I was very skeptical and wanted to leave due to how small the lobby and rooms are - not like a typical US hotel. Unfort it's right next to my office building and my company has a discounted rate here. But at the end of a long week, it became rather cozy. Staff were nice and accomodating, workout room is small but adequate and the food was okay. Will probably stay here again in the next year so I'll prepare myself better.

Stayed here for over 10 days in room 358. We did our research and picked Hyatt Mira Mesa because of its convenience. We also picked a suite with a kitchen, separate living area and a bedroom (looks like an 1 bedroom apartment). Parking is free, which is a huge plus.
The checkin was a breeze. The staffs were very nice and said hello and welcome back every time we left and returned. The wifi was iffy and slow, but it was free. As others say, the whole place was recently renovated. Our room was clean with a view of the pool. The kitchen was fully stocked with kitchen appliances. So if you want to cook during your stay, that wouldn't be a problem. There is only a stand in shower in the bathroom. Bed was very comfortable. The mattress was nice and firm! There was complimentary breakfast ever morning, but I'm not sure if it's good or not because I never tried it. Never had problems hearing traffic from the room as well.
Overall, my stay at the Hyatt Home at Mira Mesa was great. My only complaint is on Xmas eve, new neighbors checked into the room above. I could hear footsteps and kids running above past midnight. I heard them early on Xmas day as well...
Definitely will be back if we come back to SD!

Nothing but good things to say about this hotel. We only stayed one night but we will definitely be returning. I called before making reservations to ask which rooms were renovated since online there are some pictures that look updated and some that looked outdated. I was told that all of the rooms had been updated and that they just hadn't updated their website pictures. We booked two rooms and when we arrived we were not disappointed. The rooms were very nicely done. Furniture and appliances were all very impressive. More impressive than the rooms was the complimentary breakfast that is offered. In my opinion, this alone is worth the stay. They let you put in orders for your specific preference of omelettes and also have waffels, cereals, yogurt, fruit, sauage, potatos, orange juice, milk, cinnamon buns...its basically a very nice brekfast. This was a very nice way to start our day and end our stay. You should definitely give the Hyatt house a try!

Great clean modern hotel, friendly staff & tasty breakfast with a lot of variety. Unfortunately, during my stay there was construction & the pool with the lobby area & the dining area were closed. We were informed that we could use the pool from the hotel across, but I never did. This was a great inconvenience during my stay. I am upset I was not provided with an upgrade. Overall, the hotel is good.

Not a Hyatt resort, but perfect for a place with kids.
Stayed in 1 bedroom suite on the first floor.

Customer Service is great.
Eventhough checkin is at 3pm, theylet us checkin early,
which ws great with a 7month old baby.

Pros:
Free parking + free parking = No resort fee
Free USA today or WSJ.

Room was clean.
Nice size TVs in each room.

Kitchen was fully stocked for a group of 4.
Can openers, ladels, everything you need for a kitchen.
Soap for handwashing or detergent for dishwasher.

Pool wasn't as heated as I'd like it, but it was refreshing.
Jacuzzi nice and hot. Towels by the pool.
They have pool noodles.

Beer, wine, popcorn, candy at the front desk for purchase.

Breakfast buffet consists of waffles, scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage.
cereals, toast, oatmeal, juice, milk, water and omlette bar..great for familes.

Cons:
You can hear people sometimes walking up and down the hallways upstairs.
Pool closes at 10pm.  Which could be a "Pro" cuz the means no noise from the pool.

The 1st floor might not have any views, but it's close to the pool and breakfast buffet, and easy when you have a stroller.

Oh, so many pros and cons for this Hyatt! I'll start with the cons, which were odd:
-there was no dresser in the bedroom. I had to live out of my suitcase all week for articles of clothing that were not on a hanger.
-there was only one night stand on one side of the bed
-the wake-up call was ten minutes late, and it even announced the time I asked for the call so I was positive it wasn't my error
-no blackout curtains, only very thin blinds
-the door hangers are confusing- there's one for refresh (new towels) and one for cleaning. If you think your husband is going to notice the difference without you pointing it out, think again.
-the chemicals in the hot tub were so strong one night (maybe it was freshly shocked?) that I got a mini rash on one of "the girls" and my eyes started burning. At least I know it was clean, especially with the prominent "anti-diahrrea" warning sign next to the pool rules.

The good:
-Hotel room was scented nicely upon arrival (until my husband took his shoes off)
-Amazing, comfortable bed
-Roomy and stylish accommodations
-Excellent breakfast and omelette station
-5 mile radius shuttle
-Super friendly staff
-Free parking
-Quirky bartender (weekday)
-Nice 24/7 Workout room with new and clean equipment (I actually used it)

Great family hotel with amazing rooms. The rooms are literally apartments with full kitchens, living rooms and large bedrooms with very good sized showers. Amazingly good deal too, I was very surprised this hotel was such a good deal.

Some cons of this Hotel: Poor location for food, located in a business park with scattered restaurants around the area. Also, not a Hotel for young adults looking for nightlife.

20 min from the Zoo and 20 min from Legoland (w/o traffic).

Stayed for 1 night for my son's basketball tournament.  We had a great stay and would readily stay there again.  Good location in the corporate part of town with clean rooms and great staff.  Loved the breakfast with the omelette bar, sausage, waffles, OJ, fresh fruit, good coffee, cereals, bagels, and patio.  They even had Miso soup with rice!  The front desk was friendly.  I only wish our room had a little balcony.  Rooms were clean and comfy.  TV's were nice and Wifi complimentary.  Good value too.

It's a bummer this place got such low reviews, as we loved our stay there. We were looking for somewhere outside of downtown San Diego to stay during our weekend trip. The Hyatt House is such a great deal. I think we got our room for about $120 for the night. We got a cozy room with a king-sized bed overlooking the pool, away from the elevator. It was quiet and extremely comfortable. Amazing bed and pillows!

It seems the hotel was recently renovated as everything about our room was new and well designed. Even the curtains were completely roll down "black out" ones so that the room was pitch dark at night. The bathroom and shower were modern looking, and the water pressure was amazing.

Can't say enough good things about the breakfast. Which by the way is free... one should never complain about things that are free! Anyways, a great "make your own omelette" station that you can get egg white omelettes at, plus buffet style scrambled eggs, bacon, and some other things I couldn't remember. A prepared fruit bar, oatmeal bar, plus mini pastries. Rounded out with coffee and a wide variety of tazo teas. I think there was a Japanese business meeting going on or something because they were also serving miso soup and Japanese condiments on the side. You can eat outside by the pool if you want. A nice way to start your day.

The front desk and staff were very friendly and helpful, and they had orange-infused water in the lobby.

Free wifi and free parking. Nothing annoys me more than having to pay for either of those.

We didn't eat at the hotel restaurant so no comments there. Although why eat at the hotel restaurant when you're in San Diego literally within a stone's throw of Karl Strauss Brewery?

We'll definitely be staying here again the next time we're down, especially if their prices continue to be that low!

Sooo true peeps!! Its not a place to put in your money... The stay will be stressful and every minute your would be finding something in the room like dust or hair ... Guess what? The first encounter we had as soon as we reached the check in counter was with a rude receptionist... I was dressed casually in my yoga pants and flip flops.. Her stares and the way she spoke to me made me feel as if I am not dressed up to mark.. I could confirm my doubts by noticing her attend to people who were all suited up... Then she gave us key card for our room... Without asking us if we need assistance with our luggage or not she showed us the way to the elevator.... The suite which she gave us had plumbing problems and the moment we opened the door the room was flooding... Poor us!! We pulled our luggage all the way back to the reception and told her about it.. She dint look much concerned and easily brushed the problem off by saying that they are renovating the property ... Then she gave us the keycard of another room which was equally far and again dint offer us luggage assistance... By this time my mood had ticked off... To set things more swinging the lock of the new room dint work properly.. ... But by this time I was the one who dint want to see her face and just managed with the broken handle of the new room!! Luckily my stay was just a night long... If you plan to stay longer ... BEWARE!!! STAY AWAY!!! On a positive note the room was comfy and the restaurant of the hotel is also ok!

Great room. Great staff. I can not believe how hard the breakfast crew works to keep everything stocked and clean. Those folks hustle.

First time staying in this place.  overall, this place is clran and has a modern look.  The room was also clean and I like the modern decoration that they have.  Maybe it is jusy our room but the shower is a bit small but it is good enough to take a shower alone.  In our room, the room could have a little more light.  There is no central lighting which lights the whole room.  The floor lamp seems to be the only one.  We would probably stay here again.

Took a few biz trips here to San Diego and stayed here a few times. Here's the low-down:

* Good rooms. Clean and simple. Bed was comfy, in-room coffee machine worked well, TV was nice. Furniture and carpets were new.

* Poor building construction. I could hear the people above me walking. This was built like a cheap apartment complex.

* Poor breakfast. Worse bar. Well they are the same actually. They have a small room they put tables in and they serve a mediocre breakfast there. In the evenings, this small room turns in the bar with 1 TV to watch the game. Absolutely no atmosphere.

* Shuttle service is kind of a joke. You have to beg the front desk girl to take you somewhere when she has a free minute. There's no dedicated driver.

* Neighborhood has NOTHING around it. You have to walk pretty far to get to the local Chili's (the only game in this area), and that was pretty lame. The nearest shopping center is really far away. You definitely need a car if you stay here.

* Customer service was pretty good. Free internet was nice. I guess there's free parking too.

Overall it was an OK stay here and I will stay again.

There are definitely roses & thorns for this hotel. Let me explain:

We booked a trip on Orbitz for a wedding we were to attend. Though the reservations were a few months out, it turned out it was the same weekend as Comic-Con so finding an Inn was very difficult. I settled for what I could get my hands on and this was it. I held my breath.

Roses:
+Freeway Close
+David at the front desk was always cheerful, patient with the kids and pleasant.
+Breakfast Buffet- hugely great way to start the day. Good fresh options, clean, well-stocked, great service on hand at all times, fresh coffee, yogurt & sweet stuff including cereal. Fun for all ages.
+A heated pool/jacuzzi with towels provided.
+Clean rooms, smell fresh, well-stocked. Kitchenette great, coffee maker great. Pull-out sofa nice option.
+Mini-market at the front desk with microwavable meals, snacks, sundries.
+Plenty of dining, quick marts & beach nearby (Tamarack being closest).
+Quiet.

Thorns:
- We got a handicap ready room. No bathtub :( Made washing my wiggly toddler a real nightmare plus water would zoosh out all over the whole bathroom puddling all the way over by the toilet causing excess use of already conservative towels.
- For the reviewer who fit a family of 8? I say that's stretching it. We had 5 and it was just right. Not to mention one of our 5 is a tiny toddler.
- Some of the ice creams we got at the mini mart had been melted/refrozen when we got them.
- Cost: wow, you are going to pay for weekends and being beach-close. Get ready to shell out about $500+ for a weekend stay.
-The doorbell on our room also flashed a light (presumably for the hard of hearing) but I thought it was a fire alarm. I almost ran out of the room!

Overall I thought the accommodations were nice. It is a good option and I would recommend it to people who need a good hotel close to LegoLand. We saw lots of families like ours plus a few standard issue travelers and business-people. Good for all walks of life.

Reception was wonderful and very polite.

Restaurant/pub was understaffed. Cook left at 8:30 so no food available. Tables were sticky and had dried food.

Bartender was helpful and apologetic.

Sewer gas smell in the bathroom.

Not recommended and will not stay here again, regardless of rate.

Spacious rooms, friendly and attentive staff and awesome breakfast buffet! I was impressed. I was baffled that this place had a low rating. Will definitely stay here again when I'm near the area. I'll also look for other Hyatt house locations when Im on vacation.

Nice hotel.  Our room had a separate bedroom (I believe all the rooms do).  Pretty clean and updated rooms.  Breakfast I heard was very good although I didn't have a chance to try it.  I had pizza and nachos for dinner and both were very good.  My only complain is the resteraunt does not serve lunch! Super annoying,  hence the 4,  instead of 5,  stars.

Very happy with our stay!

I booked an affordable suite here for my parents and myself for the weekend we moved my brother into UCSD. It was very odd when we arrived as the front entrance was under renovation and we had to follow these weird signs through the side door into a make-shift front desk (inside the business center). Regardless of the weird welcome, the staff was super nice and accommodating - definitely a younger crowd, which is fitting for the "modern" feel Hyatt House is trying to deliver. I was very happy to find that there is complimentary breakfast daily, and the pool, business unit, and gym were all available.

The room was very well equipped with stainless steel appliances (full-size fridge!). The kitchen was very well stocked with pots, pans, utensils, cups, wine glasses, etc. Our room had a single King and a pull out Queen, 2 TV's, a balcony, and one bathroom. I have no complaints as everything was new, clean, modern, and very comfortable.

Overall, it was a very pleasant stay for a reasonable price. The only thing is that it is located in "Qualcomm City" and other business/tech parks. There aren't anything around and the streets aren't necessarily easy to navigate around. Regardless, it was a great hotel that is close to La Jolla. I will highly recommend this Hyatt House and wouldn't mind staying here again.

I absolutely loved our stay!!! We wished we could have stayed longer. They front desk gal was super nice , informative and friendly. When we checked in they upgrade us to a suite without asking and when we entered the room it was nice and clean. The free breakfast was surprisingly great, they had a cook making omelettes for the guest and we enjoyed the entire breakfast. Check out was a breeze. We highly recommend this hotel to all.

Sitting in my hotel room, relaxing on the chaise lounge as I write this review.

Initially, I wasn't sure whether to book a hotel here for the night because it only had a 3.5 star rating but, honestly, it's not that bad!

Pros:
- Free wifi
- Free parking
- Free breakfast 7am - 10am
- Clean
- Modern
- Friendly staff
- Easy check in
- Complimentary "Grocery Shopping"
- Comfy bed
- Shower heats up fast and easy to use
- Large shower head
- Gym

Cons:
- Parking spaces are so narrow
- The A/C went out and I had to get up to try to turn it back on
- Although only 4 buttons, the A/C panel is difficult to control
- And the front desk guy wrote the wrong room number (no biggie)

I definitely will consider staying here again.

The hotel is nice. There is a kitchen with a stove, fridge, and island counter. There are utensils and dishes inside the cabinets. There is also a pull out bed from the couch.
The bedroom has a TV. However our TV didn't work. We called to fix it first night but was not fixed. We made another call the following day and we are still waiting. That's why I give it 4 stars. Since we're still waiting and it was not taken care of right away. There is one bathroom in the bedroom but it's nice and spacious with great lighting. Grocery service is available as well as a request for flat iron and curling iron.
I also give it four stars because the pool and spa are small and there's not enough room to sit in the area.
Breakfast is great and yummy with a variety of food.

I love the look of the hotel, and the spacious feel of our room!

We got a King suite, which consisted of one room, one living room, and a kitchen. While our couch was able to separate into 2 different pieces (did not like this), our kitchen was so great! The perfect space for two. The bathroom was modern, with a big vanity mirror that lights up around the border. The shower was phenomenal! The shower head was placed super high, which is a gigantic plus for two tall people (5'10" and 6'5"), and came down like waterfall. Only downside--no tub :( couldn't use my Lush bath bomb.

There is continental breakfast served daily in the morning, from 7am-10am. There is large seating area; we always opted to sit at the bar. There's an omelette station too! And a separate station for juices, and a second one for hot water (tea packets available) and coffee.

There free parking at this hotel -- don't let the 3rd party hotel booking sites fool you!!! We paid ~$16 more per day, for "free parking" and "free breakfast," both of which are already offered at this hotel without that extra charge!

The only downside is that this location is far from everything to do in San Diego. We always had to drive at least 30+mins to get anywhere to eat or do.

Otherwise, this was a very comfortable stay!
