Don't judge a creepy looking Inn from the outside! When we approached the hotel, we were very reluctant and I was beginning to regret my blind hotel choice. The woman who was working the front desk that evening, and every evening we were there, was very friendly and accomodating. She didn't get annoyed when we asked if there was a smoking room available every night. The one thing I LOVED about the room was the pillows! So fluffy and they felt brand new. The beds were comfy and clean. The continental breakfast was good enough, nothing like eggs or waffles though! Pool was pretty big, larger than one would expect. The only thing HELLA ghetto/ very "Inn" about this place was the elevator. Very small, dirty, old, and slow. The door closes like it would in a horror movie. The only other thing that creeped me out was the bar that was connected to the hotel. The exit to the bathrooms for the bar was on our floor, so any drunk rapist/serial killer could walk in! Other than that, I would definately stay at this place again.

Plane was delayed, so Continental put us here. For around $100, I can find a much nicer room as it was not very clean, as least to my standards. I say it's a $50 motel as best. On top of it, they charged my credit card without authorization. Only upon calling them, they say it was a mistake. I don't have time to deal with bs like this! Stay away!!!

Ramada limited was not the greatest hotel building I have stayed on. However, I would definitely like to stay that the politeness of the staff and their cheery disposition definitely made the experience a positively memorable one. It seems as though there have been recent renovations, and while some parts of the hotel are definitely aged, I believe that there is a lot of value being included in the comparatively meager price. Considering that the wedding that my beautiful-meant-to-be and I are going to attend is only 4 blocks away, added plus!

Nice room. Very clean and that was a huge plus in my eyes. Location was fair at best. I'm an Ocean/Pacific beach type of guy so next time, I'll pay the extra cash and stay closer. A bit over priced but, it was the only legitimate hotel I could find in the area two weeks in advance. They're gym is not a gym it's more of a joke. And their breakfast was fair for free. Waffles, cereal, pastries, and juices. Parking spots are big enough for motorcycles yet everyone seems to stuff their cars in them.

We stayed here for a graduation at the MCRD, and it was really close. The rooms were really cozy, but everything was nice, and new. with a fridge, microwave, safe, internet, coffee maker, working ac and lots of channels on the tv. we didnt have much time to go swimming , but the pool was nice looking, the lounge/bar was kinda cool, my Boyfriend went and had a drink there, they also had pool tables, jukebox and friendly staff all around. it doesnt look like much from the outside, and the elevator isnt very big, or fast. but it was just fine! would stay here again! :)

I don't want to sound like a snob, but like Ernesto N, my DMTB (Definite-Meant-To-Be)  I've been in nicer hotels than the Ramada Inn. But considering the budget and the location of where we needed to be, a June wedding at the Bali-Hai Restuarant.

Yes - the elevator feels like an old man. Tired, slow moving, and is generally cranky. I recommend taking the stairs if needed. It's better to shape a good butt, and it's MUCH faster than the elevator. Granted it was recently inspected, my DMTB and I firmly believe someone was paid off to pass it.

As for the rooms themselves - were on the small side, but cozy for both my FH and I to stay for the weekend.

The water pressure in our room was great, but it took FOREVER and a day to get hot water from the sink or shower.  I really don't like wasting water, and it's kinda ironic that there's a sign in the bathroom about water conservation.

Another issue I personally had were the pillows. Yes, they were fluffy and such - but seriously, I've got a small neck, and something THAT large isn't comfortable at all. I might be in the minority, but I had to beat that pillow into submission (and a benedryl) to get "decent" sleep.

The staff were polite and cheery. That should be a standard for any place that deals with people. I'm not going to give an extra star for that.

The Continental breakfast felt a little lazy, and the selection was carbs, carbs and carbs. I have NO problems with carbs - I welcome them. The Make-yourself-waffles were fine - perfect for splitting before a morning run. However, I am appreciative of a free breakfast. I wish the hours were a little longer. I think 10am is a little too early to end it. But I digress.

Overall, the stay was a good one. Thankfully, we had a relatively quiet stay for a mini-vacay in SD.

I read the reviews before and most said it was small.. I called to see how much a night n I talked they down 25$.. Our room was perfect for a couple like us, who doesn't stay in the hotel only to sleep! It was small a 10x 10 room with a large dressing area n a bathroom. It was great to e able to walk to everything! Also downtown was 10 mins away!
Will definatley book again!

We were supposed to stay at the Sheraton on Harbor Island because they were actually charging the same price at the Ramada except parking at the Ramada was free and the Sheraton wanted $22/night. Deal breaker for me.

The outside of the building does look sketch. Even the hallways and doors to the room made me wonder if I made a mistake... the inside of the room has luckily been remodeled though! Newer furniture and bathroom fixtures. I do have to say, the layout was strange. We had a room with 2 beds and the entrance to the sink part of the bathroom was right in front of the side of one of the beds which made it a little awkward to squeeze by. Also, the toilet/shower area which are doored off seperately from the sink area is tiny. When you close the door it actually grazes the toilet, so it makes it hard to get in and out of the bathroom easily.

Overall it was clean, but we did have quite a few annoying gnats flying around that we couldn't seem to kill and they were kind of cheap when it came to providing towels. We had forgotten one day to put all our dirty towels on the floor so we didn't get any new ones, so the next day we made sure to put them all on the ground, but we were only replaced with 2 towels. I'm sure we could've gone to the front desk and requests some, but it would've been nice for them to just replace with the same number that they took.

I've had good experiences at Ramadas in the past so I thought this would be safe; I was wrong. The place is poorly designed and difficult to navigate. The building is run down and dirty. No one there speaks proper english; I had asked housekeeping where the laundry was, she sent me to the opposite end of the hotel, farthest from the laundry room! Room service was huffy and rude when I called.
First, the bathtub stopper didn't work; when my husband attempted to fix it, he sliced his hand open on it! We called housekeeping and it took some time for them to fix it; then when my husband pointed out his hand they didn't seem to care; we asked for a first aid kit and after half an hour someone brought us a bandaid and a giant tube of neosporin and asked that we return it asap since it belongs to the employee lounge! lawsuit much?
Lastly, just as we were dozing off, a bellboy starting frantically knocking on the door; he informed us a smoke detector had gone off; we told him there was no smoke, no fire, and yet he began to try to force the door open after I had told him I was naked!! No respect, no boundaries; the guy literally tried to break the door down. We left that night. Not worth it; got to Point Loma Inn; much nicer.

Coastal trip from LA to here in San Diego, this hotel was OK in comparison. The room was clean throughout and breakfast was good (no fruits, all grains), nice waffle maker and yogurt selection. AC in the room never blew cold and was't automatic, so the asthmatic blower was on all the time. The restroom had no vent fan. Great location.

Nice polite staff. The room seems clean enough but smells awful. It's non-smoking but reeks like a smoker lived here for forty years and the smell can be gotten rid of. I had the sliding glass door open to sir it out. It didn't help and traffic was too loud to leave it ajar. Glad it's a one night stay.

My BF and I stayed here on an impromptu trip to SD and loved our room. He chose the accommodations and was a little weary if I would like it as I have many preferences on hotels and other luxury's of life, but I was delighted with our stay. For what this place is 2.5 - maybe 3 star motel (do star ratings exist for motels?), your every day, less than $80/nigh Ramada, it was super great. I loved that there we a refrigerator in our room and I felt like there was some privacy from bathroom location to bed area.

There's a little store on site that carries many over-priced necessities, which came in handy when I realized I forgot my hair brush. Also the store sells snacks, drinks, wine and beer, so one would have to go far for minimal sustenance.

I recommend this Ramada for a basic yet very pleasant accommodations in SD.

I have certain things that I require in a hotel.  This one met all of them.  First, those who complain about the location...it looks like an hotel, or anything else for that matter, that is literally across the street from a harbor.  It is tough to keep things looking "new" when you are that close to the ocean.  It did smell a little funky in the hallways that had openings outside, but the room itself was very clean with none of the "hallway" smell, so there was no issue.  Yes, the elevator was old and was an experience, and we did mainly take the stairs, but as they were located right outside our room, we probably would have taken them if the elevator was the best one ever.

I require my room be:
1. Clean...it was
2. Quiet...it was
3. A decent shower...honestly the best hotel shower if have had in a "bargain" hotel.  I want a hotel that offers a clean, quiet, comfortable pace for me to sleep after a busy day.  This hotel was great for that!

Very nice for my son and I.
Averaged 82 a night or so on priceline.
The employees were very nice. Store on site.
Great beds, AC
Fridge and micro
Pool small but OK
Nice location for Mission Bay watersports and the marina.
The one bad was that the shower toilet area in my room was tiny. About 2x2 open space. You sort of had to step in and turn sideways to close the door.
As that only is 5-10 minutes of the day I would still use it again.

Well I guess it's ok not really that impressed stayed here the outside is not that impressive looks really ragged out....the lady in the front said the pics are older ones, and what even annoyed me is that our toilet is not properly installed....seriously it moves but I'm over it,just need a place to lay my head for the weekend...I don't recommend to stay here!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for the night the past weekend and eh, it was not what I expected it to be. Considering the price we paid for the hotel though, it was good enough for the both of us for an night. The pictures do NOT tell the whole story though... We drove up to the hotel and it was definitely a little smaller and older looking than in the pictures. Check in and out was quick and easy! We had a room on the balcony right above the swimming pool, and that was nice. The only major complaint we had was the our room REEKED of cigarette smoke. We had a non-smoking room, but as soon as we opened the door, the overwhelming smell of smoke hit us. We turned on the fan and that didn't seem to help it either :( When we returned after a day out, the room still smelt like cigarettes :/ I would suggest housekeeping to spray febreze or something into those rooms because it was so hard to sleep. The king bed was comfy enough for the both of us! The bathroom was super clean and nice. Overall, we would probably stay here again if needed. But next time, I will definitely check with the hotel first to make sure the room is a COMPLETELY non-smoking room.

I really like this hotel, especially for the price.  I only gave 4 stars instead of 5 because it is an older building, and definitely not a five-star hotel.  However, the place is clean and the staff treat you as well as the VIP staff in a high level Las Vegas hotel such as Caesar's or Rio.  You get a friendly smile from everyone here, front desk and housekeeping.  I have stayed here on 2 occasions, and will happily do so again when I'm in the area.  Impressive guest service!

If I can give this place a 2.5 stars, I would, but I rounded it to 3-stars because it is not as bad as 2-stars.

I never knew that Ramada has an Inn or should I call it, a motel.  For the price we paid, we could of gotten a better place.  This place is pretty run down and old.

Got our and and once we walked in, it was stuffy and the room has a smell (maybe because it was old.  They have the old fashion wall AC and you will have to leave that on at all times to get the stuffiness out of the room.  The bathroom also has a smell that wont go away.  Luckily we only stayed here for a couple of day.

On the positive note, they do have a microwave and a fridge in the room.  Also parking is free.

Me & my gf stayed here while we were in SD for a concert, the hotel is awesome, front desk was professional & made everything really quick & easy, thank you very much, Jyoti. The room was far superior to others i have stayed at in SD, there also was a pool, continental breakfast. It was a great experience over here at this Ramada location, thanks again, we definitely will be coming back!

Ehhh I like this place for the price, and you kinda get what you pay for. We got the single king bed room with a marina view room. It has airconditioning. And all the other goodies like a tv, a nice big fridge with a mini freezer inside, blah blah.
Pros:
*comfy king bed
*tv
*fridge
*staff was nice
*decent sized pool
*decent sized room
*nice free breakfast! waffle maker, toast/bagels etc, cereal, juice, yogurts etc
*close to many shops, downtown, restaurants
Cons:
*not a sound proof door at all.. We could hear everything going outside from our rooms door and vice versa.. i could hear the tv on from standing outside our room.. Obviously means if you are a couple staying, most likely people walking by can hear you too, if you catch my drift... Haha
*small bathroom
*NO JACCUZZI
*you can hear the people stomping in the room above or if they move the chair around
*tubs arent that clean

Stayed one night prior to an early flight to JFK. The room is spacious with desk, refrigerator, micro, big TV screen and a coffee maker. The room is fairly dark, there was no electric socket near the desk, the WiFi connection was good. Bathroom and related facilities were lighted and clean with good stream of hot water. Note that the first airport shuttle is at 5am, which for me was a bit too late. Overall fair deal for the money.

Enjoyed my stay here. It's clean and the service is adequate.

I needed a blanket, no problem.

Sometime their cleaning was too good. They kept throwing away bowls and spoons i wanted to keep.

Some spots they missed like the toilet handle.

Continental breakfast has waffles, sweet breads, coffee, tea, juice, apples, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, juice.

They give rides to and from airport 5 am until 1030 pm, and bus service in the area is great. Right down from Old Town.

For a TV addict like myself, this place is great. Must be at least 50 channels, several in Spanish. Didn't notice any in other languages.

Most importantly the toilet paper rolls off the front ;-)

I stayed here for my birthday. We got a pretty good deal online and if we paid an extra fifteen bones we can get a harbor view. I truly felt we had a suite. It was huge! The view was amazing. For the price, the location, and the room it was awesome. I will most likely stay here if I am ever in San Diego. Elevator is a little sketchy....makes a thump noise every time you go up or down. That they need to replace. The continental breakfast was great as well. The TV wasn't connected correctly and the screen was very blurry I had a smack it a few times. Very clean a pretty nice shower and showerhead have a small safe. The main thing I enjoyed was the huge balcony and view. I truly think this is like a 3 1/2 star hotel maybe even four

I am a bit late in writing this, but it has been on my mind since I have left San Diego (October 14th 2014.) I had been in San Diego for "The Color Run" and had a few hiccups. I found myself in a need of a room and it was very "last minute."

I used Orbitz and found a wonderful price for the Ramada, San Diego Airport. I was flying out the next day and this place was moments away from my car rental.

I spoke with Maria and booked a nice room. I needed to check in early and many places were booked solid including the Ramada. Maria took my number and said she would contact me if a room became available. earlier than 3pm.

Within a very short time Maria called me and I was on my way to a nice warm shower.
First off, Maria treated me like a Queen, and let me tell you, by the time I got there I did not look like one!

I was conviently roomed next to gym, which is my favorite place!  Maria gave me a tour of the facilities. I was so impressed at how everything was handicap accessible, beyond the norm.  I did not need it this year but have in the past. It made me so pleased for all the guest with special needs.

On entering my room, I was so very pleased at how large and clean it was. It was perfect for 2 guests although I was by myself. It had a separate vanity area, bathroom and a nice dining area. It came with a coffeemaker, fridge, iron and board and all the little niceties I would have expected from one of our timeshares or an upper scale hotel.

Free Internet, free cable, extra plugs everywhere for charging my umpteen devices. I truly wish I was staying longer and will definately stay at the Ramada again.

It was within walking distance of Shelter Island and the lovely marina.

I have zero cons and so many rave reviews. I will stay again and use the saved money to buy something lovely!

Continental breakfast was very nice. I enjoyed the hard boiled eggs and oatmeal. I saw a family enjoying making their own waffles with a fun waffle maker.

Excellent!!

The room was nice and clean but it was tiny and right on the road the sound off cars was constant. The bathroom was so small you had to stand in the bathtub to close the door. We were in room 120. Also the hardwood floors made the people above us sound like giants stomping all night. But it was a great location, the parking was free and easy and the room was clean. Just don't stay in rooms 119 120 or 121.

Booked a stay here for a meeting I had to go. I've stayed across the street at the Bay Suites or whatever and thought the Ramada would be a step up but it was more like 1/2 a step up... First of all, I'm a travel agent and they offer no "perks" to us. I asked about seeing if I can get an upgraded view and was told no. I asked this ahead of time and they said to see at check in and it was no.

Pros-
Location
Value- I think my stay was $80 for 1 night including the tax
Breakfast- Wasn't terrible. Made my waffle and had 2 pieces of fruit and 2 hard broiled eggs for protein
Room- was comfortable
Parking- plenty of it

Cons-
Wifi- Very weak!! Had I known this, I wouldn't have stayed here even if it were $50 because I need a decent signal! Ended up using wifi at Starbuck's but I shouldn't have had to
Water- It took FOREVER to get hot water to come from the shower and sink
Safety- My door didn't shut all the way! Someone EASILY could have kicked it open breaking into my room, stealing my belongings, raping me, and murdering me. This is something that hot, bald guy on the Travel Channel says is a big no no!

I would not return.

When I go back, I will stay here again! Check in was easy, check out was easy, and during the stay, I had no complaints! They cleaned the room daily, even when I was late one morning, the house keepers came back and cleaned! They left me plenty of clean towels daily! They had a free continental breakfast! That actually had a little extra (waffle maker), and the location was great! It was close to everything, including a few family friendly restaurants! I would definitely recommend this hotel!
