This place is awesome!  I was able to get an $89 per night rate through the Marriott web site with a 21day advance reservation.  We stayed here for 3 weeks.  The room was newly remodeled and had everything we needed.  The kitchen was stocked with all the cooking supplies, and the studio room was plenty big. They allowed our 2 large dogs for a one time fee.  And these dogs are large.  We were near a stairwell and had easy access to let the dogs out, they also provide poop bags.  The breakfast was awesome and changed everyday.  There is enough for breakfast to have leftovers for lunch.  The PM snack, is not a snack but a great dinner.  We never missed an evening, it was so good.  They also provide newspapers and drinks throughout the day, also WiFi in your room (free).  The General Manager was awesome and let us see a room before we made our stay, he set us up with a room that was easiest for the dogs.  5 stars,  I will stay from now on at a Residence Inn whenever I travel

We stayed four nights and used the kitchen each morning to make breakfast and a few times for dinner. Yes, the hotel did have a decent breakfast available, but it was nice to be able to make what we wanted when we wanted it, and enjoy items from the local farmers markets. Overall we enjoyed the extra space, and utility, which came at a premium price. On the down side the air conditioner was nosier then I expected but ultimately did not significantly impact our enjoyment of the room. Also, the refrigerator was only able to achieve an acceptable temperature when set at the coldest setting. While freezer would freeze items in the middle setting the refrigerator was still around 60, and the fridge section should be 40 or less.  If you are planning on cooking I would recommend you bring a few essentials including a frying pan, thermometer, a couple good knives, tongs, and basic cooking ingredients like oil, spices, etc. These items increase the utility of the kitchen and while the basic cooking tools were provided we all have our preferences. Overall a good experience which has convinced us the Residence brand of hotels is now our preferred place to stay.

My husband had a certificate for a free night at a Marriott (category 5 or lower; this one's a 5) and we wanted to visit San Diego.  Reviews convinced us this location would be a good bet.

The staff, as everyone's written, is terrific. The lady who replenished the buffet and coffee service always smiled, and genuinely was eager to please, as were the front desk people.   There's a lot of food that comes with a night's stay  (microwave popcorn in the room;  coffee, tea, hot chocolate[ big bowls of apples, oranges and bananas in the dining area; at breakfast, not only yoghurt, sausages, waffles, oatmeal, scrambled eggs, breads and muffins, juices, melon--but also instant miso soup, rice, potato pancakes, and breakfast burritos (how's that for a multicultural meal?). I even saw a can of whipped cream in the fridge  ("Belgian" waffles, anyone?)  Then from 5:30pm till early evening, they served ravioli (both meat & cheese) with a mini salad bar. And wine and beer and juices (I made myself a white wine sangria with orange juice and cranberry juice cocktail -- weird, but tasty).

The room (a queen suite) was comfortable enough, and it had two big-screen TVs, with a guide to local programming by date (not just a list of stations). There was a complete kitchen with all the implements you'd need to prepare full meals. The bathroom (toilet & tub/shower behind closed door; sink opposite closet in the bedroom) worked fine--good counter space for the bathroom sink, and even a drawer for sundries.

Oh, and they even gave us a certificate for one free item from the small snack display behind the front desk (soft drinks, waters,  ice cream bars, bagged snacks, candy, microwave pasta meals).

The only reasons I'm not rating this a 5: location is inland, with nothing nearby except office parks and housing developments. It's a drive to area attractions (one of the staff, Tamara, explained they're kind of at the hub of a wheel going to all the attractions and they get a mix of corporate travelers, tourists, and locals).   Most of the pillows on the bed were on the hard side (though I'm sure they would have provided more soft ones if we'd asked).  There were no luggage racks in the room, kind of a strange omission. Maybe they had some and we should've asked, but we were only there one night, so we hoisted our bags on the kitchen counter.   The living area furniture, because both the couch and easy chair were foldouts, weren't especially comfy for sitting on (though the chairs at the little kitchen table and adjustable chair at the desk were just fine).   We didn't use the (small) pool, which is adjacent to the parking lot and surrounded by  fence on two sides, so there's not much to soften the glare.  On a very hot day, there didn't seem to be many umbrellas available, but  a few guests baking in the sun didn't seem to mind.

In short, we enjoyed our stay, but  because of location (it's also hotter inland than along the coast), we aren't likely to choose it again--though we'd recommend it to anyone who wouldn't mind the  extra driving, especially families.  My  husband would rate it a 4.5.  Guess I would too, if Yelp allowed that.

Man this place is so shady you won't even want to stay here. I rented a room here for a friend of mine that doesn't smoke cigarettes. After he checked out a day later we realized they tried to charge a smoking charge on my credit card. I asked my friend about the ordeal and I also know he doesn't smoke cigarettes since he competes in triathlons. What a joke of an establishment.

We had a family Bar Mitzvah in San Diego and this hotel was close to the house. It was also a great deal (found on Priceline) and had more than everything we needed/expected. The room was clean and was a one bedroom suite with a full kitchen and a pull out couch in the living room. They provided a full hot breakfast each morning and a light dinner during the week S-Th. There is a pool, fitness center, business center and laundry facilities as well.

Comfortable, clean and good service. What more could anyone ask for? We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

This place is a great surprise. It is not in the downtown or beach area, but just north of San Diego on the 15. From here, you can easily get to Charger games, beaches, Miramar for the Air Show, (as we did this time), the Zoo, (as we did before), and anywhere else in San Diego. The rooms feel brand new, with nice bathrooms, showers, kitchenettes, two flat TVs, good breakfast, close by restaurants, perfect! I stayed with my son and two oldest grandsons to watch the airshow. Free WiFi, great beds, smelled great, too. We even hit the pool to cool down on a hot day. What a great time.

If you want to stay here for a long period of time I don't recommend it, the internet is horrible for even surfing and checking email, do not try watching a video online. There are only stoves in corner rooms not in every room and there is a dead zone of cell phone usage, I had to leave the room for any phone call which really isn't their fault but it was the icing on the cake. For short stays it is nice and the staff is very helpful!

    Prices 4*
    Cleanliness 4*
    Location 4*
    Noise 4*
    Parking 2*
    Maintenance 3*

Conveniently located off the freeway but blocked from the traffic noise by another hotel inbetween. Be aware that parking is tricky if you pull in late at night. Suburban location so there is little within walking distance. Highly recommend the 2bd suite if your needs require additional rooms (very reasonably priced.) One bathroom curtain was a little questionable, and the refrigerator had a faint funky smell, but otherwise in good condition.

This place is homey and full of super nice employees, plus free breakfast AND dinner? What on earth? Free wifi and very conveniently located off 15.

Hallways don't smell anything of smoke, just that lived-in carpet smell. Pillows are good but the standout is the bed. It's a little softer than I'm used to but honestly like sleeping on a giant marshmallow.

I'm also writing to add that breakfast includes miso soup, steamed rice and furikake, and to that I say... I heart California.

This Residence Inn is conveniently located off the 15 frwy. My reservation was for a studio on the labor day weekend. The hotel just competed remodeling the lobby, dinning area and my 4th floor end unit studio had also been remodeled and was like brand new.

The studio had a king size bed, comfy living room, complete kitchen, dinning area and work station desk. Complimentary wireless wi fi is offered in all the rooms.

Included in my stay was a buffet breakfast which was decent and the hotel had a small fitness room with cardio equipment and free weights. There was a pool, fire pit area and BBQ if you felt like cooking in house.

This Residence Inn reminded me of the vacation club villas that Marriott sells, but lacked the golf courses and spa like the large resorts offer.

I'd come back here again in the future due to the cleanliness, convenient location and spacious studios.

I totally agree the staff are outstanding with ready smiles and willing to do anything to accommodate.  My husband and I stayed two weeks with our little 15 pound dog and everything we needed was at our fingertips. ( our home was in repair from a leak).    There's a nice little area to walk our dog surrounding the pool area- and it's even supplied  with dog bags exactly where she took care of her business.  The coffee is excellent and is aways ready downstairs and Available in t he in-room coffee pot.

The suite we had was comfortable Including a large TV in the bedroom and Living room, refrigerator, microwave, sofa chairs, desk with great housekeeping.  Food was supplied every morning and most evenings.

The evening meals were pre-made and heated up- things like lasagna, hot dogs burgers (chicken and meat) so this is wonderful for kids but our tastes are more picky so we went down the street to Sammy's for their wonderful Thai salads and wide range of fresh pizzas. However Breakfast always included make
It yourself waffles, sausage, Canadian bacon, pre made scrambled eggs, juices, and an assortment of bagged muffins some of this was okay. Still they were great and we were not even counting on eying our food there anyway.

I really love Residence Inns.  I have been trying more and more to stay at them whenever possible, though there aren't that many where I tend to go.  I do feel bad staying here for just one night, as they give you so much and are clearly meant for long-term stays.  Still, if they're going to allow it, I'm going to jump at the chance.

As has been my experience in the past, the room was great and the price was reasonable.  This hotel was a little older than the last one I stayed at, but it was kept up very well.

There are two small things that force me to take off a star.  The first is the internet.  If you're staying here more than one night and rely on the internet for work or just general connection to the outside world, you won't want to stay here.  The wireless here was terrible.

The only other thing was that housekeeping came into my room in the few minutes I was downstairs getting breakfast.  I'm told I shouldn't care about this, but I feel like if I'm checking out that morning, they can wait until I do check out to start to clean.  What was really odd was that they just came in, opened the entry closet door and maybe emptied a garbage.  Maybe it's too much logistics, but I think it's manageable to avoid the rooms of those that are checking out and focus on the others.

Awesome place. We switched from Hampton to this hotel and its $20 more and you get basically a kitchen in your room. Basketball courts, great breakfast even serve dinner Monday-Wednesday. The staff are awesome, friendly, nice and cooperative. Been staying here for a little over a month now and nothing has happened to us that would make me think less of this place. If people are stomping above you or kids are running in the halls, they will fix that for you. Any problem you have, they do everything to fix it.
