My daughters softball team traveled down South this past holiday weekend for a tournament and we stayed at this location. I must admit I was a little skeptical being that I have never stayed at a Residence Inn. The staff was very accommodating to 12 little girls and exhausted parents. Our rooms were available for early checkin and our team was able to use the Gate House for a pizza and movie night the first night. Great team building experience for the girls. Breakfast was great and it helped having it start so early in the morning with us having to be at the field early as well. Having a kitchen in our room was extremely helpful, but, I was a little disappointed that dish soap was not made available. Aside from not having dish soap, the only thing I found a little odd was the sofa bed. Once it was pulled out, there was no access to the kitchen or door. I had to crawl over my daughter sleeping on the sofa bed to get to the kitchen to make a bottle for my baby in the middle of the night. But overall it was nice and I would consider staying here again in the future.

The hotel is clean and appears new. The staff is great. We stayed in a studio which was well designed for the amount of space that exits. Free food in evening and breakfast is a plus. Small kitchen but nice; w/full fridge.
Wife and kids enjoyed the king bed, BUT, I have to say...this was the worst sofa bed I have ever slept on bar none. If a sofa bed is not in your plans; a nice place to stay.

This place is beautiful!!! The staff is phenomenal. I'm so picky about hotels and I love it here the bedding, the layout, the bathroom lighting... It's not just a kitchenette, it's a full on kitchen btw, 2 stovetop mini range, dishwasher, full sized fridge. Love it here.

parking is a little painful. Tight basement parking.
Room is a little on the smaller side compare to other residence inn.
Otherwise, everything else is perfect.
Breakfast is fresh made on site.  There are even board games in the lobby seating area.

Great Staff. Horrible location, and bad design overall. Happy Hr is a bust and I have had closets bigger than the "gym"

Clean rooms, complimentary breakfast, goodies throughout the day at the front desk and friendly staff. Parking garage is a bit rough with many blind turns and right corridors, but other than that all good.

It was ok.  Not as impressed as I've been at other Residence Inn locations.  The breakfast was decent, the rooms are clean but staying here nearly a week, a few picky things.  The bed was not comfortable.  The 'needing a key' every time you got into the elevator seemed a bit overkill on the security.  It's Del Mar, after all.  The traffic/highway noise was loud at night.  The gym was small, not very equipped and kept far too warm.  Location is fine if you plan to hop on the PCH or the 5 but definitely not walking distance to much else.  Overall can't say that I enjoyed our stay but more due to the little comforts I was hoping for in a week long stay.

The location is very convenient, especially if you have a car: very close to the beach, close to Sea World and the rest of San Diego, instant exit of I-5 gets you anywhere else. Complimentary breakfast, free gym, laundromat, swimming pool. The kitchen area in the room is very convenient. The staff are great.

Great dog friendly hotel! Very accommodating for our "family + dog" vacation. Clean room, fair rates and located in a great part of North County.

The residence Inn is new, fresh and clean. The lady at the reception desk, Michelle, was outstanding and she knew our names even days after we checked in. The breakfast was fair and the room had a little bit of outside noise that these did not distract from The overall quality of the experience.

This was a fantastic hotel because of the quality of customer service the employees provided. When my family and I arrived we realized we booked the wrong night and didn't have another reservation. It was a Saturday and all the Marriotts were booked. Luckily the Assistant General Manager, Evan Haft, helped us out and worked diligently to make arrangements for us to stay in the hotel for the night. I recommend this hotel to anyone!!

pretty darn sweet!
so i'm staying here because my house flooded and this is close by to home...
free evening reception m-w...free breakfast daily!
i hear that not all the receptions are equally rocking...but the night i stayed here was burgers, dogs, beans, salad, brownies, warm cookies...wine, beer, soda! ...
breakfast was yum...i had the hash with sausage...and a parfait...both were amazing!!!! there was tons of other options,...but i was in a hurry to get to work...

pool...tiny but warm!
service...super friendly!!!

room...clean and nice..only complaint is that when the sofa bed is open...it butts up to the table and you can't get by (i had to climb over my kids while they were sleeping so i could go to work in the morning).

would i stay here again? well..hopefully  i don't have a reason to need to stay a few blocks from my house again...but i would definitely recommend it to out of town guests...

We're relocating to San Diego from San Jose, so we've been at the Residence Inn Del Mar for the past 6 nights, and will be here another week or so.

Pros:

Hotel is new
Room is decent
Employees are nice
It's a bit of a walk, but you can walk to restaurants, grocery stores, movie theaters, etc.  You just won't be able to carry anything back with you.

Cons:

It's REALLY loud at night . I haven't been able to sleep.  Even with Ambien.  The walls are paper thin, so you can hear the freeway and cars right outside the window.
The utensils/plates, etc in our room were really dirty.  There was food caked on it still.
The complimentary food is a bit of a joke, and happy hour doesn't feel that happy.
The gym and pool are tiny.  And people walk through the gym to get to the parking lot, so super awkward.

I can't wait to get out of here and into our apartment.

Nice room, great price , breakfast included. I  stayed for 2 nights (fri-sun) and my my only complain is the noise from the construction just outside their hotel, loud pounding noise that starts as early as 830am , and the worst thing its a weekend im looking forward to sleeping late but how.. I attached some pictures

Hotel room is nice but not worth having your belongings stolen from your car.

I've stayed here twice in the past two months. The first stay my laptop was stolen from my back seat. Not sure how they got into my car. The hotel has a policy that they are not responsible for lost or stolen items but does not supply any safe or well lit parking besides the parking garage.

The second time I stayed here, my trunk was actually broken into to the point were there is a gaping hole were the key hole should be. I luckily had nothing of value in the trunk. This time my car was damaged and the trunk is no longer usable. There are no cameras in the garage, elevators or hallways in the hotel. This hotel is a thief's dream.

Don't stay at this hotel if you don't want your car broken int

This hotel is super clean, I stayed here two months ago and really liked it. Very nice you can take a look at the pictures I posted.

The hotel was just built, it even has that new hotel smell. It's located near a nice shopping plaza.

The staff was nice and friendly, but I wish they were more knowledgable. They recommend a place I didn't like.  stay away from uncle Titos (EWWW).

Evening reception M-W and breakfast daily.

I am hard to please when it comes to dinning out and I am even harder to please when staying at a hotel. I was a bit worried about this place because it was cheaper than the other Marriotts so I figured something had to give. Going on my fourth and final night here I can say that I am pleasantly surprised with how much I've enjoyed my stay here.

Location seems to me pretty good. Not the closest location to Point Loma, but I-5 is right down the street. Apparently, we are south enough to avoid traffic, which we've been lucky to avoid all week.

Parking is $12 a night. I was able to avoid paying that and opted to park on the street instead. However, tonight has been the only night I was not able to find street parking.
The rooms are clean. I was so worried that the room wasn't going to be clean because the lobby looked a little untidy the night we checked in (I guess because they had just got finished serving HH). But to my surprise my room was actually cleaner than the lobby.

They provide free breakfast, free wifi, and a fitness center. Three of the main reasons why I decided to stay here. All in all, I would definitely stay here again.
