We are using Staybridge for larger family gatherings, where our family from Europe comes for stays. We have used both the Sorrento and the Carmel Mountain locations, and they are both excellent value-for-money.

They have all the things needed to make a stay not quite as hotel like. They are also very serviceminded.

Excellent little hotel!!  Great bang for the buck!  Prices are high enough where crazy idiots won't be checkin-in.  Very clean, excellent service, AND the free breakfast was excellent - not just a "continental breakfast" but a real tasty and nutritious meal.

We had a grrreat stay at this Hotel after being in Las Vegas on the strip for 2 days and 2 nights....   After my first experience years ago at another hotel out of state that offered free hot breakfast.. I am always looking for these places because its definitely a great way to save money on food... Our room had 2 full beds in the bedroom and a sofa sleeper in the living room.. and there is a kitchen too!  Full size fridge, microwave, dishwasher, 2 burner stove, pots, pans, cooking utensils, plates, eating utensils, dishwashing liquid, paper towels...what more could you ask for??

There are alot of great places to eat and buy groceries near buy.. right across the street is costco and claim jumper, along w/ panera and some other shops... you keep going straight and you will see more stores down teh way... trader joe's, raley's, and more restaurants.... go down another street, and there's more restaurants, stores and markets... get on teh freeway and the next exit over there's a great chinese restaurant...

the hotel has free washer and dryers to use, even a laundry basket, you just have to purchase your own detergent, and you can buy it at the little lobby market by the front desk... free wifi in the rooms, computers/printers in the business centers.. some books and movies to borrow as well... although the movie choices are not new movies...

the breakfast is great.. it changes daily for the hot food (bacon, sausage, scrambed eggs, hash browns/tater tots )   ..but there is always oatmeal, fresh fruit, hard boiled eggs, steamed rice, make your own waffle bar, bagels, toast, cereal, juices, soda, coffee..yogurt... what a deal!!!

and they have the sundowner from Tuesday thru Thursday evenings, and you can easily have dinner taken care of on this changing menu... on the days we were there..they had taco night one night, and the next was bbq.. meaning grilled burgers/hot dogs along w/ potato chips and potato salad... and you can have soda, coffee and even wine and beer! what a deal!!

its about 25 mins from sea world..but such a great deal...

when looking for restaurants in the area.. all you need is to use the internet and get on YELP.... that's how i found food!  :0)

hotel service was outstanding! upgraded us and extended our stay by compensating us with two extra nights for the remodeling inconvience. the pool was shut down, water was turned off intermittently two days and the main food eating area was closed. we were extremely pleased by the family/pet friendly hotel staff and  atmosphere!  we will be coming back for many more family vacation stays here at the staybridge suites.

We decided to go down for the weekend and do a tour of the local beer breweries, and decided to stay at Staybridge Suites (Rancho Bernardo). This hotel exceeded my expectations by far!  The room was extremely spacious and clean with a fully stocked kitchens, flatscreen tv's in every room and the living room, free WiFi, free breakfast and free dinners (i think it was Tues, Wed, Thurs only).  The staff were so friendly and helpful answering questions and what to do in the area.  Staying here was a lot better than staying at a studio style, regular hotel room.  This place is brand new and gorgeous!!  I didn't get a chance to, but in the back next to the pool is a half basketball court.  A LOT of amenities for free (always a plus). Definitely 5 star quality for half the price.  :-)

We were informed a week before our stay was to begin that the hotel will be under renovation and that the pool will be closed. What kind of company closes a pool in JULY?  December seems like a more appropriate month to fix a pool.

My wife and our 4 year old twins were on a trip visiting our family. We booked the room because of the pool and breakfast that was included with the fee. Not only was the pool closed but, the kitchen was closed, as well. We were offered an unchanging assortment of cereals and microwavable egg sandwiches. It was very disappointing.

On top of all of this, the first night of our 5 night stay I had to complain at 6pm (an hour after work should have ended for the day) about a tile-saw outside of our window. As my kids were trying to go to sleep, I had to complain AGAIN at 7PM about the same tile-saw.

The first hour we were there we had to have management try and fix the running toilet. It was never completely fixed and we had to shut off the water every night to stop it from sounding like a trumpet. Not to mention a major waste of water.

The next day our room was not made-up and the trash was not removed. The following day it was untouched again until we complained to the management.

We will not return to this hotel, nor will we recommend it to anyone we know

This hotel is AMAZING.  Everything about it exceeded my expectations.  Rooms are super spacious with everything you need... fully stocked kitchens, a TV in every bedroom and the living room, free WiFi, free breakfast, free dinner!!! (only in the middle of the week), and super friendly staff.  The free breakfast is more than what you would normally expect from a free breakfast.  It actually included hot eggs and bacon.

I have nothing negative to say about this hotel.

I stayed in a 2 room suite with my family of 3 and my mom.  It was plenty big and the layout was such that we had plenty of privacy in our bedroom, which made the stay more pleasant.

We enjoyed the kitchenette and the nearby Trader Joe's.

We checked in about 9pm and the front desk concierge was very friendly and acquainted us with the 24 hour coffe and tea bar.  In the morning we ate at the complimentary breakfast, which was adequate.  Adequate is about all I ever expect from a hotel's free breakfast.

The price was definately competitive and by sharing the suite and having breakfast as the hotel, it was downright reasonable.

I enjoyed walking down the hall an smelling cooking from different rooms.  It was so much nicer than that nasty artificial scenting stuff some hotels use.  I mean, would you rather smell chemicals or cinamon?

Stayed here for a nearby conference. We like having a kitchenette very much. Our suite was fine, the grounds fine for what it is. Quiet, adequate free breakfast, and fine happy hours. A little far from San Diego for tourists though. There's a Costco steps away so we did a little shopping too. The small workout room was fine. We would stay again.

Short Version: This is now THE place we stay whenever we are in the San Diego area. No question.

    Long Version:
I have an affinity with San Diego. I had customers in SD. I have family in SD. Over the past 10 years, I've been to SD a half dozen times. In one of my previous visits, I stayed here for proximity to work. I was amazed then. Since then, I've returned twice and was able to re-confirm my experience. My last stay here was this past spring break (March 2013).

Three of us (wife, 10-year-old, and myself) had a 2 full-size bed suite, non-smoking, booked a good 3 months in advance. We arrived at night. Check in was speedy. The suite was clean. The kitchen has everything. All the appliances were functioning properly. Internet access was included and easy to established.

We stayed for 9 nights. Due to the long stay, we opted to not have full house keeping everyday. Every night we return, they replenish only what's needed, made the beds, and left everything as they were. It is nice to be able to treat the suite as home away from home without the constant reminders we are being invaded everyday.

Most of the mornings we went down to enjoy the included breakfast bar. I enjoyed the hot items such as bacon/sausages/eggs and oat meal. My daughter loved the variety of cereal and cake. My wife loved the self service Belgium waffle iron. I also had my fill of fresh coffee every morning to keep up with my caffeine habit.

A couple times we needed to wash clothes and were happy to discover that the laundry was free.  My daughter also discovered the free DVD library where we can borrow DVD to watch in the room.

We were able to meet several rotation of staff from management to front desk to kitchen staff to the cleaning staff.  Everyone was friendly and helpful.

A thousand other little things made our stay totally pleasant. 2 TVs, one in the bedroom, one in the living area. Ice maker in the frig. Fully equipped kitchen with flatware and dishes. A dozen electrical outlets through out the suite for our electronic device charging addiction. Secured external doors after 8pm added to our peace of mind. Ample parking. Walking distance (not that we walked) to a huge shopping area including Ralph's, Costco, and dozens of restaurants. Instant-on hot water. Shower that did not skim on water pressure. Did I mention free Internet?

Since we prepaid our reservation, checkout was a non-event. We just loaded our luggage into the car and left. No housekeeping check, no bother, no line, no delay.

After 3 separate stays here, I can recommend this place to anyone. No, it isn't a five star hotel. But for my money, this is where I'd be staying next time.

March 2013 was my busy wedding month. And being a busy bride I didn't want to have to do a lot of thinking or planning of the little things. My wedding venue suggested I contact Staybridge about a place to get ready with my hair and makeup stylists and bridal party. Staybridge was a hop, skip and a jump away from my venue.
I was put in touch with Sam. And If I could have an extra column to give Sam a set of stars I would give him 10. He was so nice and accommodating to my every need. He set aside a huge suite for me and my bridal party to get ready in the morning of, made sure we had champagne and orange juice fully stocked so we could relax AND  he offered me the room the room the night before so I could be well rested before my big day all at no charge! I fully expected and was willing to pay a well deserved fee, but Sam would not have it. All he wanted was for me to have the best day of my life and know that he had a hand in helping that come true.

Everything was clean, comfortable and welcoming. I highly recommend this hotel to out of town guests. There are many major restaurants right around the corner as well.

It was not easy finding an affordable hotel in SD for your 4-legged child.  Staybridge doesn't require a deposit or cleaning fee.  They only charge $15 extra.  Staff is friendly, for the most part.  The rooms are big, spacious, clean and comfortable.  AC was on strong.  However, the corridor was stuffy and had a smell. Overall, it pleasantly surprised me, and we, including our dog, would stay here again.

I was relocating from Pittsburgh, PA to southern California for a new job in San Diego, CA. I needed an extended-stay solution (45-90 days which ended up being 98 days total - March-June, 2014) during the transition. Sam McGruder helped me with my reservation and maintained contact with me during my entire stay. Managers Nicole Price and Scott Griffin were always available and ready to assist. In addition, Ed (at the front desk), well, it is obvious he is there to serve. He is simply a wonderful person. Sincerely, I think everyone there was friendly and genuine and they always greeted me by name. I know I'm sure to miss someone, but I don't want to miss Alex, Frank, Karolina, and Kostana. I didn't catch the name of the gal that managed breakfast over the last month or so, but she was FABULOUS!

One thing that Staybridge Suites San Diego Rancho Bernardo Area doesn't advertise (and I don't know why) is their free evening social every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday which includes dinner, dessert, soft drinks, wine, beer and Saki...did I mention it's FREE. Alex is an EXCELLENT host for the evening social. Social dinners typically include a salad, rice, snack chips, and veggies. Entrees include a baked potato bar with choice toppings, burgers, brats, hot dogs, chili, baked beans, quesadilla, pizza, chicken, soup, etc...

Now, they do advertise free breakfast, but they don't tell you that it's terrific and that the entree changes daily, 7-days a week. The staples are coffee, juice, milk, yogurt, a choice of 6 dry cereals, oatmeal, breads, bagels and English muffins, a morning pastry (such as coffee cake, muffins, pound cake, Danish, croissant, etc.), fresh fruit (apples, bananas, oranges, melon),hard boiled eggs, steamed rice and nori. The entrees can include scramble eggs, chorizo scramble eggs, hash, egg/cheese omelets, egg patties (for breakfast sandwich), bacon, sausage, roasted onions and peppers, pancakes, French toast sticks, etc.

The rooms are well appointed, spacious and comfortable. I found the bed and bedding to be at my desired firmness/softness. I did not care for the bed pillows much, too soft, and therefore needed to used several, but to be fair, I'm picky ab out my pillows. The A/C unit was awesome and other than the sound of the blower, made no irritating noise. I found good water pressure and hot water whenever I needed it. Each unit has a full-size fridge w/ icemaker, microwave, induction cooktop, dishwasher and ample cabinetry. They provide dishwashing liquid and powder for the dishwasher, as well as dish towel/cloth, dishes, glassware, pots/pans, silverware, can opener, corkscrew, veg peeler, toaster, coffee maker (with coffees and teas), salt, pepper, sugar and creamer packets, microwave popcorn, paper towels, shampoo, conditioner, hand and body bar soap, and lotion. Other than needing to buy some plastic wrap and Ziplocs, they provided everything I required. The closet is spacious and comes with several hangers. Given I was there for 98 days; I needed to purchase a few more.

    - They also offer a free laundry equipped with five washers and five dryers that are always functioning.
    - You can purchase laundry soap pods at the front desk for $1.
    - The onsite pool is heated 24/7 at a lovely temperature and was always clean.
    - They have a half-size basketball court, with basketballs available at the front desk.
    - There is a fire pit, and BBQ grills and outdoor seating as well.
    - Parking is free and the lot well lit.
    - Designated Pet Areas with supplies.

The physical location offers easy access to everything - shopping, dining, interstates, and entertainment. The location is quiet - no real street noise except for an occasional fire truck siren.

NOTE: While I was there, San Diego experienced several brush fires. The Staybridge staff was prepared and very reassuring. I noticed several SoCal Firemen on site during this time. I felt VERY safe.

During the last week or so of my stay, my husband, son and my two dogs (Spencer and Zoey) joined me, and the staff welcomed them all with the same inviting demeanor and care.

Having been separated from my family and pets during this transition, Staybridge felt like a home away from home. The only other time I have seen such offerings was at a high-end timeshare.

Love love love my stays here. The staff is personable. Their service is great. If we have a complaint or are unhappy with our room they move us as quickly as possible and apologize for the inconvenience. The rooms are clean and well kept. The kitchen is always a plus. Love having a fridge and dishes and a stovetop. The pool is always heated and clean and refreshing on any day. My go to place for mini vacations when I've got lots of work to get done and family location.

stayed here just for a night to have a little staycation away from home and i wish that we stayed longer.

The room was upgraded and modernized with a full kitchen, fridge and dishwasher. This room was seriously made for those staying here long term.

Place was clean, comfortable and not to noisy. We heard an occasional bark here and there for guest who brought their dogs with them but nothing that kept us up at night.

In the morning they provide a hot breakfast which was so-so. The eggs looked like they were a soup instead.

Other than that, checking in and out was easy.

OK, I can't praise this pace enough.  We are still staying there so its always a risk to review ahead of time but so far I have no reason to doubt them. This place saved our week after renting a house on AIRBNB that didn't quite work out, we cut our losses and found this place.  The way our week was going I was expecting to be disappointed.

Instead I get in on a Thursday night after work to see that they have the NFL game on in the lobby area and have several tvs all over the place. Then I saw that they had beer on tap and wine, along with cesear salad and chicken nachos. I would have been more than happy to pay for the beer and food as I was really hungry and find out its free! So they are off to a great start. About 5 beers later I get up to the room (yes the beer stopped me in my tracks and I drank before even making it to my room, don't judge me)and its a really big suite with a kitchen and living room area along with an air conditioning unit that will freeze your nuts off if you want it to (I'm always warm so this was not your average weak hotel a/c).

I'll have to catch the guys names at the front desk, both were super chill and friendly. The other positives of this hotel are they only charge about $15/night for pets (many charge $75!), free internet access, free parking, and plenty of extra sheets and pillows to build a big tent for my kitty cat to sleep under (again, don't judge me).

Really enjoyed my stay here. The guy at reception was super friendly and nice at welcoming my friends and I. Checked into a double queen bed with a kitchen. There's two flat screen tv with cable. The kitchen was nice but it was very cramp with a dish washer, microwave, coffee maker, utensil, fridge and stove. Overall would come here again.

My fiance and I had a very nice stay with our dog.  It's hard to believe the room was pet friendly as nice/clean as it was.  Very modern.  It was a 2 bedroom suite with a common area, three TV sets, a kitchen.  Plus the building had a basketball court, pool and free breakfast.  Very helpful staff and a great hotel not far (maybe 20 min) from the beach and other touristy stuff.  I recommend La Jolla Cliffs during the afternoon, gorgeous spot with sea lions.

Absolutely amazing. The staff could not have been friendlier. Even when I came in after a long night of work at two in the morning they were accommodating, nice, and welcoming. They had on site gym and laundry services that I took advantage of. One of the great perks was the breakfast which I enjoyed both days I was there. For a free breakfast it was unbelievable. They had eggs, bacon, sausage, cereal, coffee, milk anything I could think of. I will definitely be going back there!

They don't have all the fancy amenities and entertainment that some higher end hotels have (spa, restaurant), but they have all the amenities needed to make your stay comfortable and homey as extended stay hotels should be. Plus you don't need to pay extra for them, unlike at many other hotels. Pets are also allowed! $15 the first night and $10 for each night afterward for your furry friends.

We booked a queen room and it was modern and clean. It was like living in a studio, complete with a "living room" (sofa + TV + tables) and full service kitchen. All rooms come with a full service kitchen, which I didn't need in my case, but it's pretty cool to have. Ice maker is in the fridge, so no wandering down the hallway to get ice. I thought it was cool how they had a little guide and directory book with lists of things to do and even simple recipes for people who want to cook.

There are sooo many complimentary amenities here that I just have to list them:

-Free wifi: A major plus for me!

    - Social hour: They have complimentary snacks and refreshments every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights for social hour!

    - Breakfast buffet: Everyday. Weekends 7:30AM-10:30AM, weekdays 6:30AM-9:30AM. They have a wide variety of breakfast items to choose from, but the hot food isn't prepared on site because I don't think they have a full kitchen. The hot food is more like frozen or pre-prepared food that's heated up, but it's still decent. I kind of doubt they rotate the menu.

    -Free movie/book library
    -Free printing and computer use
    -Free laundry
    -Exercise room and basketball hoop

Those are the complimentary amenities I can think of off the top of my head, but I still find them pretty amazing. They also have a 24/7 convenience store. The front desk was really friendly and helpful. It's just a cozy feeling overall staying here. The hotel itself is located in a nice business area and is close to a lot of shopping and restaurants. Totally convenient for those staying long term. Also close to the freeway. I wouldn't hesitate to stay in another IHG hotel in the future.

Fans of my reviews know how I love me a Staybridge. This location keeps the good vibes rolling. It's not especially different than any other Staybridge. It's located in a business park in Carmel Mountain. There is a fire station nearby and I was awakened by sirens. The staff is nice. The night desk manager said I sounded like his ex-wife on the phone. Thank you? But, once we got in and settled we enjoyed the breakfast and dinner buffets. Dinner has the added bonus of 2 kinds of beer, wine and even hot sake. TV is available 24/7 in the community area. We also used the in-house "commissary" to purchase bottled waters and candy + rented some fun flicks from their free movie rental collection. The kids loved checking out basketballs at the front desk to play on the basketball half-court in the evenings.

Whenever we stay at a Staybridge we are guaranteed exposure to lots of nice staff, heartwarming hospitality and a diverse group of co-patrons. You never feel lonely or like you're the only people staying there. The community area is always buzzing with conversation, a fireplace and nice people.

Plus:  we got to shop the Nordstroms Rack nearby, revisit our fave Chinese Food place China Fun. Also nearby, though we did not visit, a Scripps clinic and a Post Office. Sadly, we didn't get into Jessie's Bake Shop this time.

Compared to an Embassey suite, this hotel exceeded all expectations. We stayed in the two bedroom suite with kitchen. I loved that each room had its own tv and the kitchen had everything and anything you needed. We had to go and get ice from an employee , but was told our fridge had an ice machine ( ours did not work). The hotel check in employee was very nice and friendly.
The overall pros: great value for everything you get.
Cons: breakfast was not as great compared to an Embassey suite.
Yes, I would recommend this hotel to family and Friends.

Where do I start with this wonderful property?? This is easily the most accommodating I have ever been to. From the moment I arrived (at 2:30am mind you) every employee was extremely polite and every hotel policy was designed to make my stay comfortable and as close to a stay at home as possible.

The front desk attendant checked me in quickly and politely and then even gave me a little free toothpaste since I'd forgot mine. And then, the room was perfect. A living space, a full kitchen, a big bathroom and sink space, great heating and cooling, and a bunch of TV channels including HBO.

Some of the other highlights were: GREAT continental breakfast with waffles, eggs, and ham in addition to the standard stuff, a beautiful patio with a fireplace, a really nice pool with comfortable seating, a sport court with a great basketball hoop, and NOON CHECKOUT!

This place is great and you should definitely stay here. I give it my highest recommendation.
